Visiting a Cacao Farm in Costa Rica In this video, we’ll be visiting Rancho Raices, a Cacao Farm in Costa Rica. The farm is located on the Osa Peninsula and was created by Don Germán. We did a chocolate tour and learned lots about fruit and medicinal plants like shampoo ginger on this tour, as well. Costa Rica is known for its high quality production of locally grown and organic chocolate.

Perkenalkan, ini Pak Eddy Suppardjono. Beliau adalah petani kakao di Gunungkidul. Beliau sudah menanam kakao sejak tahun 1980an. Dan beliau sudah mulai memfermentasi biji kako-nya sejak tahun 1992 di mana saat itu belum ada petani kakao yang memfermentasi kakao.

Di kebun beliau ada 13 varietas kakao. biji kakao dari beliau menjadi pilihan projek pertama kami untuk membuat bean-to-bar chocolate di tahun 2015. dan karena kualitas yan teruji baiknya, Boenbenas terus beriringan dengan Pak Eddy untuk menyajikan cokelat bean-to-bar Boenbeans hingga saat ini.

On World Chocolate Day we reminisce on our cacao sourcing trip earlier this year to Tabasco, Mexico for the Almendra Blanca (white almond). Here’s a photo of the amazing Ceiba tree next to the most amazing child (we’re biased as we made her). At the farm they say ‘hug a Ceiba or you’ll have bad luck.’ Whether you believe it or not, we got the chance to hug this majestic/gigantic tree and soon after we made the arrangements for the surrounding cacao to arrive at our beautiful mountain town. Man, was that a process, but soon after we hugged this tree we also became bean importers 😅 With that being said, do you have great cacao?
