It is hot.
A false sun radiating light from behind Zero, hiding his visage; he’s beaming with satisfaction. The flickering lights are imperceptible now. A girl stands beneath the machine motionless, hidden almost entirely behind a large houndoom, who stands centerstage despite finding herself in a double battle. The girl is disheveled, clothes still muddy and damp from traveling in the snow, her hair covers her face as she holds tightly the two small knives that once kept it in place. She doesn’t notice nor care though, her eyes are glazed over but she’s focused. Under her command, the houndoom once again charges a large fire ball in her mouth. The frightening mega evolved pokemon looks back, stalls, but is snapped into obedience.
“Heat wave, once more.”
She is used her trainer’s general emotional detachment, but never have her commands felt so unfeeling and callous. Behind the girl’s voice there was always something, As much as she may conceal it but now there was absolutely nothing. Except for perhaps a most paralyzing fear. But there is no room to think in the midst of battle. She lets go a fiery breath that has again and again brought the temperature in the room to an unbearable heat, where the structure of the room itself has begun to melt from the onsaught. The field is cleared; nothing can survive the hit. The houndoom doubles down in the pain of its own fire. As the light still shines upon them all, two more pokemon are sent out across the field, and she prepares for her next attack.
