The real tragedy with Jaeha to me, outside of the recent events, is his realization that he's losing his usefulness for yona, and even starts to chain her down. I think. This is all in my head for now truly but I'm like,, damn he sure is taking the L a lot recently! so I pray this will be adressed later on but you know at the beginning of the castle arc when he tells Yona hey I told you I was your legs :) and she rejects him, because she can't risk it. Like, Yona wasn't in the wrong here, it's just that Yona in the castle arc was entering a battle that has no need for the dragons' powers. People in the castle arent chained literally, they're chained by their duties and the isolation that comes with having more power and information. That distance is not something that can be crossed literally by flying away. But anyway it was still painful for both of them, Jaeha quickly connects the dots and understands the reason behind that, but that only makes him more willing to find a way to help.

Then he is deployed in Kin Province, and as he realizes that Hak is fighting there he makes it his new goal to bring him to Suwon, only to fail to save him from the flooding, as he sees him be engulfed in that wave under his very eyes, and can't find any trace of him for days after it happens. Losing Hak is devastating enough given how much he cares for him, but it adds to the hypothetical feeling that he failed and his leg couldn't bring him to Hak in time.

But it's fine, his presence alone is enough, he is loved and he's like a big brother to Yona, if she needs comfort, because hell this is about hak obviously she will be devastated, he can comfort her...and then Yona hides her sorrow from him and confides to Suwon of all people instead. Sure breaking down in front of Suwon wasn't her intent at all, but she still did in the end. Yona used to cry and confides to Jaeha before (like in the Sei forts arc when she failed to protect Lili), so why? And how not to be jealous of Suwon that seems to have a bond with her that even death and betrayal will never completely break?

He plays an important role in the battle against Kai, so sure, at least his powers still have some use and raises the moral of the troops as well, but now these same powers causes terror instead.

And before that he got captured, again, and as much as Yona defied our expectations and showed her development with a cycle of similar events but a better outcome and way of dealing with it (ie: kidnapping scenario), that is not the case for the dragons. Yona had complete control over her capture, it was her plan, and she could free herself with her own power. Yona is moving ahead of them, never intending to leave them behind, but she doesn't depend on their powers at all anymore.

So really, what does Jaeha have left at this point? Now Yona is the one who has to save him from his own powers! Jaeha who refused to join Yona at first because he didn't want to be chained down by destiny and a prophecy is now the one chained her down oh the irony of it all...

It's no surprise that Jaeha would decide to leave the ddhhb for good, his legs literally can't bring him to them anymore and worse he risks to hurt them, no matter how much he wants to come home, to them, he just can't. He can't be what Garou was to him and selfishly weights them down.

Since the beginning of the castle arc he sees again and again that Yona and Hak are doing fine without him. If Yona is in a pitch or needs comfort there are other people she can seek out. Jaeha wanted to help Hak reach Suwon and in the end he did it all on his own (Just to be clear Hak could obviously not have emotionally done it without Jaeha's support). The encampment arc ended up being resolved by everyone but the dragons, the story in general is at a point where their utility reached their limit, so what now?

The crimson illness is very tied to the mental state of those who have it, worsening when they're under stress and emotional turmoil, so I don't think it's too farfetched to theorize it might be the same for the dragons now. Kija is able to resist it because he has always been the most strong willed and stable of them. So yeah tbh more than Jaeha dying to me I think it's more him isolating himself to protect yona&co and he's not done done for. for now. I don't think he's lying about reaching the end of his lifespan etc(it's the same word as the end of an object's useful life in japanese btw.) but anyway oh well. All that to say I don't think he's dead and this is very much the occasion to finally break the connection the dragons have with their tragic fate and their powers that bring far more bad than good. What Jaeha needs is the reassurance that he is needed and that this does not depend on his powers at all.

hi!! thought i'd direct my ask here since it's writing related -> how did you set up the google sheets to set and track word goals?? i opened up a sheets but it's a bit intimidating ;;

i'm guessing you do Insert>function>??? one of those? but idk which

there are a lot of different ways!! some basics to know:

the main functions i may use here are =SUM, =AVERAGE, =COUNTIF then follow the formula outline

more frequently i stick = in the formula box then select cells (or tab you want then its cells) with my mouse (a quicker way than typing cell or tab names)

but you can also limit cells usage by editing formulas directly in the cell you want to see the = in (like, you can have a cell with "=2+2" or a cell with "=A1+A2" with the numbers in them. both cells will have the same total calculated by the = but the formula bar will look different). Data Managers™️ recommend keep everything visible in cells, but we aint publishing this so do what you want

i also use cell formatting as % or date or whatever for less formula writing (% for example, i otherwise gotta do whatever math is needed for calculating that when i can just do the basics then ask it to do the rest AND it adds a % sign for me)

now let me go from least to most complicated set-up at start:

1. Total at Bottom

i got this settup to track multiple people at once, but you can keep the record column as Day 1, Day 2, etc and change the name columns to be months. Formulas:

row 33 Total Written =SUM(B2:B32) (alter the letter and number depending on column and days in month)

row 34 Goal (month) [free write #]

row 35 Progress (%) =B33/B34 , aka =[Total Written cell/Goal (month cell] format as %

row 36 Days Planning =COUNTIF(B2:B32, "planning") (or whatever specific word you want)

you can also have a year total somewhere, which you can see examples of how to in the last method

2. Weekly Goal

there's more manual in this so far which makes it easier to setup, harder to keep up on. columns week, dates, and words written are write-in (the last which i may =#+#+# throughout), but formulas:

column c words to go =1400-D31, aka =[word count goal]-[relevant "words written" cell]. conditional formatting (which i may swap the colors):

column e success is a drop-down menu which i forget how to create every time... look up "how to create drop-down menu in [spreadsheet program of choice]". i manually select the success based on vibes: earned, endeavored, exceeded, and resting

3. Detailed Year

there are two tabs here with more initial setup but less to manage later. they read from each other (what the ! does in a formula). starting with the daily data tab:

column date is formatted for calendar

column type is formatted with a drop-down menu, which the thought is to later make a pivot table counting the frequency of write, edit, edit+write, and daydreaming.

column word count is a manual input with conditional formatting

then the year tracking tab:

the free write-in columns are month, daily goal, and reflection. the column success is a drop-down i manually select at end. everything else has formulas:

column c month goal =[daily goal cell]*[# days of that month]

column d % of month will look like =(COUNTIF('2024 count'!C246:C275, ">0"))/30 , aka (COUNTIF('[name of daily data tab]'![relevant cell range from tab],">0"))/[days of month] formatted as %

column e daily ave is =AVERAGE(('[name of daily data tab]'![relevant cell range])

column f total count is =SUM('[name of daily data tab]'![relevant cell range]

column g goal progress is =[total count cell]/[month goal cell] formatted as %

the total row at the bottom goes like

daily goal =AVERAGE([above cells])

month goal =SUM([above cells])

% of month =AVERAGE([above cells])

daily ave =AVERAGE([above cells])

total count =SUM([above cells])

chapter 246 red & mana analysis

initially they were both seeking family-- red wanted to feel accepted, mana was looking for nea, but either way this is what prompted red to be vulnerable for the first time in his life. and mana's response changed him--originally a cynic, red begins to see the beauty and love in the world despite it all.

this connection, the first emotional bond he made with another person, is lost when mana loses his memories. red says it himself:

or, well, the bond is there-- but it can't be fully reciprocated. you can see it in how red despairingly tries to get mana to remember his mission: "you were looking for your little brother, you were so desperate you nearly got run over, didn't you want to see him that badly?" mana's story resonated with him-- finding family when red never had one. now, mana doesn't even know he has a family.

red took that from him. just as mana said love opens up a path, red destroyed that path, destroyed mana's ability to have what red had always wanted, ability to hope and inspire red to hope in turn.

allen (human) is therefore born as an apology, a replication who exists to give back to mana what red stole. allen lives not just to provide the sense of family-- but also to be a vessel to impart unto mana his very identity, his values. "remember[ing] it all" in his stead.

this is the start of red-turned-allen's idolization of mana's ideals, behavior, and characteristics, which cascades into mimicry when, years later, allen destroys him "permanently".... :(

“y/n push harder!” she squealed and giggled as you pushed a little harder. “is it my turn yet?” you huffed as she giggled. “i guessss” she got off the single swing at the park across the street from her friends house. he grinned as he got on the swing and jiheon started to push carefully as a grin spread across his face. “jiheon! y/n! do you want some ice cream?” her face lit up as you smiled and nodded over at your mother, jumping off the swing, falling over in the woodchips. his mom walked over and sighed. “be careful y/n,” she wiped off the woodchips sticking to your clothes then took your hand and jiheon’s as you all crossed the street into his house. the two of you giggled as there was ice cream all over your face. his mom giggled as you finished up your cup of ice cream and jiheon finished hers. both of you running to the gaming system to play games for hours. you and jiheon heard a familiar voice and jiheon gasped. “it’s my mom, hide!” you both giggled and hide in the corner of the living room with the blanket over the two of you, giggling and shushing each other in between giggles.

Jiheon groaned as she rolled over in her bed, she stared up at the new ceiling, looking around at the new room and looking at everything. she looked at the bright walls and sighed, the color was definitely not her first pick...or any pick of hers at all. for the past few days she was getting adjusted to the new house, back in her hometown. she felt anxious to be back and see people from elementary school, none of them know exactly what happened and when she moved. Jiheon sighed as her mom knocked on the door. “come on, we need to be out the door in fifteen minutes.” Jiheon stood up and walked to her closet “okay mom,” she picked out a pair of ripped jeans and a simple shirt as she got ready. The drive to school was agonizingly long as anticipation built up. Her mom pulled up to the door and she got out. “bye Jiheon! have a great day!” her mom smiled as she nodded. “thank you mom!” she walked in and looked around, she played a scene in her head of a movie thinking that’s how this was going to play out.

Contradictory to the thoughts in her head no one looked at her or cared, she walked around looked for her home room and took a breath. she repeated the number in her head over and over. “C246, C246, C24-“ she stopped thinking as she looked up at the figure she ran into. “oh i’m sorry,” she looked up at you, not even recognizing you from when you were kids. she went on her way as you called out “Jiheon!” she turned around and looked over at you. “huh?” you ran up and hugged her as she squinted, realizing she recognized the hug. “y-y/n?” she grinned and hugged you back as you smiled. “how have you been?” she smiled up at you as you both let go. “good, i’ve missed you so much,” she blushed as you spoke. “i’ve missed you too, y/n,” she smiled as you smiled “same home room?” he looked at her as she looked up at you “C246?” you both asked in unison and smiled as you walked together. “sooo y/n, should we hang out at the park later?” she smiled up you as he nodded quickly. “most definitely,i’ll need your number though,” she grinned as he gave it to her right away. parted ways after homeroom, sadly you two didn’t have classes together.

She smiled as her mom met her at the end of the day and she got in the car. Her mom smiled at her. “how was it?” Jiheon blushed softly as she thought about you, remembering your soft and handsome features. “really good,” she nodded and smiled. “meet anyone?” her mom asked, just to fill the silence in the car. She shook her head. “remember y/n?” her mom nodded. “of course, what about him?” Jiheon smiled a little. “he’s at my school, is that okay if i hang out with him tonight? y’know, to catch up,” her mom nodded. “sure, it’s been a while,” Jiheon smiled, “thank you,” her mom nodded as they pulled in the driveway and Jiheon ran on to put her things away. she went to text him until she got a text first. “i’m on my way to pick you up now :)” she smiled “yayy!! i’ll see you then!!”

Jiheon grinned as she heard a horn beep and opened the door as you walked in. “hi mrs. baek,” you smiled and gave her a hug as she hugged you back. “it’s so good to see you y/n, how have you been?” you smiled as they had some small talk and she watched. they ended shortly as she smiled and walked out to the car with you. you smiled and put on old songs that you used to dance around too as she giggled and smiled at you. “i’ve missed this,” you nodded at her. “it’s so nice to see you again,” he parked and smiled as you both got out and ran to the swings like you did when you were kids. The two of you hopped onto the swings and smiled. “sooo, any relationships?” Jiheon started as she asked you. you shook your head as she looked at you with a furrowed brow. “but how, you’re perfect and anyone is lucky to have you!” You blushed, “it’s not like i wasn’t asked out,” she raised an eyebrow as you took a deep breath. “i’ve been waiting for you jiheon, somehow, someway i knew you’d come back into my life. you truly are the only girl for me, it might be too bold or too soon but i’d like to be your boyfriend,” you sat on the swing with your feet dragging as you stared down.
