What you think are Prime's thoughts on the state of his original dimension?
OOoo this is an intriguing question! I've always loved thinking about this. There's so much about Prime we'll probably never know, but with the hints we've been given it's fun to paint a picture of what he was really doing throughout the show behind the scenes.
I think Prime wouldn't have been shocked at the state of his world in Solaricks because he had already seen what happened long before. When Prime was ranting before his death, he mentioned a lot of specific things he'd seen Rick doing. He knew Rick hung out with HIS grandson. He knew Rick lived in HIS house.
Prime's clearly been keeping an eye on c137 throughout the show. How often he watched Rick and what details he knew about his life is unclear, but clearly he's observed Rick enough to know about things like the two Beths.
He probably knew that Rick had destroyed his version of earth not long after the events happened, but I don't think Prime would really care all that much. I imagine since Prime sees himself as so above mortal life, he viewed his earth as a prison. It was just a place keeping him bound to a miserable existence, and once he left he never looked back.
If anything, Prime would find the state of his world amusing! Like Rick had thrown a giant temper tantrum and Prime's earth had paid the price, and Rick had left it that way as some kind of middle finger to Prime. Prime most likely got an alert about it from a surveillance system and rolled his eyes with a laugh, immediately moving on to something else.
When he gets teleported there against his will in Solaricks he'd just be annoyed at the inconvenience. The last place he wants to be is this miserable waste of a planet. The only useful thing it ever did was provide a safe enough environment for him to be raised in. I can imagine him looking around for a bit to truly take in the scale at which Rick had decimated the place, almost impressed at the sheer level of spite his other self must have been fueled by to do all of this. He'd study some cronenberg corpses for fun, get bored and build a ship as fast as he can to get off the miserable, mutated earth.

hiii r&m anon here again!!! i noticed you mentioned liking season 7, so i was wondering if you had any favorite or least favourite episodes, plotlines, all that jazz. season 7 debrief, if you will. would love to hear your thoughts!
ram anon gracing my inbox once again (always a pleasure)
huge rant below the cut (talking about rick and morty triggers the longwinded newspaper art critic in me sorry)
s7e2 and e4 were the best episodes in my opinion. absurd, darkly funny, overall just so perfect. i was especially excited about s7e2 since the rick/jerry dynamic has intrigued me since episode s3e5. i love that that episode basically just confirmed Rick and Jerry may be foils but are also perfect complements? they can only understand / appreciate each other when they are literally existing in each other's flesh? i try not to wax poetic about ram but this episode was tempting meeeee
and re: e4, i think this show's writing is at its best when the writers come up with a stupid concept and treat it seriously. i love that this episode saw the concept of 'what if corpse spaghetti' through to the end. classic dark comedy, absurd, wacky goodness. lovee it
one thing i do hate about this season (as well as seasons 5 and 6) is the number of callbacks to 'old' rick and morty. s7e3 and s7e8 were some of the worst episodes this season, mostly because they just reused old plotlines and developed them in the least interesting ways possible, imo. did the mid gag from s3e5 really need its own episode? it really did not. i think that this is one of the worst consequences of the show becoming less episodic and more serialized - the writers just endlessly milk the early seasons to recycle into plotlines, one-off gags, whatever. the self-referentiality and meta humor of newer seasons will always, always grind my gears severely.
also, s7e7 was almost unwatchable. it reminded me of s6e2 in all the worst ways - just dedicating an entire episode to a SINGLE movie reference, doubling down on the singular reference as the episode drags on. god that episode sucked. so boring, annoying, unfunny.
i have extremely mixed feelings on s7e5. On the one hand, I'm still annoyed that the backstory from s3e1 is even canon, and Rick is yet another entry in the long tradition of flawed male protagonists turned into a nihilistic depressed shitshow by the death of a wife. it's such a pat trope, imo.
HOWEVER, i really like how this episode developed Rick. I'll always be a fan of ruthlessness and revenge plotlines, so im biased. but i've come to appreciate Rick Prime as a villain, as a testament to how much Rick hates himself -- there's a version of himself out there that would torture himself across the universe by killing off his own loved ones, just to try to prove his own superiority? it's all very mindfucky but im super into it. Rick C137 killing Prime with his fists, all while Prime goads him? it was such a cool scene. i love when the show does selfcest
i also still have mixed feelings on the evil morty and his growing prominence in the series. it was nice when he was just a little treat, but it became clear in s4 the writers were aware of fan expectations for the character. i can't help but wonder if that's shaped the way they're writing him, especially giving him the centralized role in the story of possible-future-final-antagonist? that being said i've always liked evil morty, he's a fun character to watch on screen. although i'm extremely cautious of my enjoyment. he's already starting to feel like a fanfic rip-off of himself a little bit (that one line where he said 'well, they don't call me good morty' was so bizarre. evil morty was the fandom name for him, and the writers adopted it and made it a diegetic epithet for the character???????)
s7e10 was refreshing after a long season of Morty getting sidelined. I love how this one starts with a classic rick and morty set-up (what if *weird thing* in *random place*) but turns it into existential horror? really cool. i don't think it was the most subtle way to do morty character development, but it was interesting enough that i was invested. also, rick pinning morty's picture to the pinboard. so good
overall my reaction to this season is 'we're so back.' it was LEAGUES better than s5-6, which i think are like the ram dark ages. i don't think s7 was the best season yet (as some are suggesting) but I think that this season marks a positive turn for the quality of writing in the show.!!
here's my episode ranking in ( i mostly did this for fun)
E2
E5
E4
E10
E6
E1
E3
E9
E7
E8
Basically, e7 and e8 were irredeemably terrible. e9, e3, and e1 were mid/fine. e6, e10, e4, e5, and e2 were all varying degrees of peak rick and morty.
other mics. thoughts:
i felt like there was a lot of long, no dialogue, sad music montages that felt like references to the famous scene from s4e8? the one from s7e4 comes to mind immediately. but there were another few sprinkled in
s7e3 rick telling a scientologist "worship how you want" ??? he would not say that. who let that slide in the writing room?
the fight scenes and gore were all really well animated!! since s3 the animation has only gotten better and i love the gore
i actually love the new VAs. they're different from roiland, obviously, but i honestly think they're both doing a better job. the performances are more naturalistic, and less grating? i thought the change would weird me out, but it's subtle, and i like it
Rick canonically bad at eating pussy in his youth

Some Prime/Diane Prime thoughts/headcanons based on my recent post about prime hhdhhrgghh
Prime love bombing his Diane to make her fall in love with him faster so he could marry her asap for the immunity
He’s always hated Diane.
He knows logically that this Diane didn’t take Rick away from him but every time he looks at her face he can’t help but remember his ex partner. Other self.
And he hates that she’s so boring and predictable. (Just like him— why is it that all Ricks seem to meet Dianes? He cant seem to escape fate’s hand or change it with science… yet) It’s not even her fault. Maybe, if he hadn’t met Diane C137 first, he might’ve genuinely liked this Diane.
But. He hates her. Every little thing she does, does nothing but fan the flames of his hatred and contempt. She remembers things about him. Insignificant details. Like his coffee order. Black but with three sugars. So no one can tell he has a secret sweet tooth. No one besides, well, himself and now, Diane C139 knows this. It creeps him out that she watches him as closely as he watches her. He’d have to kill her for knowing that. But he doesn’t. He can’t. Not for a long time.
Again, it’s not her fault. She’s just collateral to a larger plan. A necessary sacrifice in God’s plan. Prime almost feels sorry for her. But then, he remembers that this is the woman Rick had chosen over him and he can’t help but compare himself to her, wondering: really, what did Rick see in her that he so obviously lacked?
She certainly wasn’t…. Unpleasant to look at. He had to admit that. Decent rack. Round butt.
She’d do this little squeak when he’d squeeze it unexpectedly. Unapologetically.
Little Mouse, he’d call her, laughing at the way her nose would scrunch up in disgust at the association with a common household pest. If I’m a mouse, she’d argue, then you’re a Big Rat. A Big Dirty Rat? He’d tease. The worst kind of sewer rat, Diane declares with a huff, but somehow, she’d always melt when Prime slipped his arms around her waist, holding her close to his chest. Her neck would tilt as he’d nose her, just beneath her jawline— breath hot on her skin. How did he know that spot would create the tiniest little damp spot on her silk panties?
Well, he murmurs, I know everything about you sweetheart. She rolls her eyes. It’s got to be hyperbolic. He’s so close—
So close, he can smell her one note honey sweet perfume. Too easy.
It makes him sick. All of this. This counterfeit love. Artificial, like the sugars he dumps in his coffee. He’ll still sit here all day, of course, flirting with his blonde waitress at shoneys.
They’ll still fool around in his backseat later after her shift finishes. He’ll still eat her out till she cums, thighs pressed around his head as she curls her fingers and toes at the feeling of his tongue sliding between her legs.
You’re so good at this, Diane says breathlessly, eyes dark and blonde hair wild. At least one of us is, Prime snorts. She thinks it’s about her. It’s actually about him. But she doesn’t need to know that.
She’s lucky if he fucks her mouth pretending it’s Rick’s. On his worst days, he pretends it’s Diane C137’s.
Prime has to admit, Diane C139 is a champ for being able to take it. But it’s nothing less than what he’d expect from his Diane. No matter what he dishes out, she comes back to him like a yo-yo.
Any snag or kink can always be worked out. He used to curse all the Diane knowledge he’d unwillingly been subjected to by Rick, but its funny that this very information is helping him reel her closer to accepting his hand in marriage with every passing week.
Prime can’t wait to get married to her.
The sooner they get married, the sooner he can finally drop this exhausting mask 🙄

~> “How-to-Make-a-Good-Rick-Sanchez-OC.txt”
Penetrating the skin. .. …
Drilling through the marrow . .. …
Emulsifying the grey matter . .. …
Downloading the I M A G I N A T I O N . .. … ….
Dear audience,
If you’re reading this: I’m in your subconscious. Congratulations, and I’m sorry. This must be done.
To make a good Rick Sanchez OC, you’ve got to have a good grasp of the content. You don’t have to play that new game, read every comic, or watch every episode. I’ll spare you that.
But you have to know — at the very feel — Rick Sanchez as a character.
I’ve collected a few key themes about Rick Sanchez to extrapolate this process; so that you may immediately apply this guide to your OC.
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Rick, in 99% of his iterations, is the Magician archetype. He is the scientific version of Gandalf, or Professor Dumbledore, and comes to aid the protagonist (usually Morty) after they find themselves in a predicament.
He is a master of the rules. He knows how to bend and break them. Thus, he is virtually indestructible, though plot will nerf him to allow the real protagonist to shine.
It is not because he was born this way that he is like this. Rick’s background decided this. Almost every iteration remains this archetype. It is only their desire or “drive” that decides how powerful they are in any given circumstance.
— Therefore, any AU or OC of your Rick will be a master of the rules of his own world. That is, unless this Rick isn’t a Magician (and thusly, due to his autistic trait, simply not a scientist).
If you want your Rick to be poor with technology, remove the labcoat.
You need to alter Rick’s history if you desire they be anything but masterful.
I suggest a drug addiction. It curbstomps potential.
But even then, when Rick C137 found Rick Prime, he was placed against other Ricks with similar goals. One of them was an obviously drug-addled Rick.
Tumblr media
So you’ve got to change Rick before this occurrence if you want them to be completely free of this Magician Archetype, and some of this angst.
———————————————————————————
On a lighter note, here’s how you name your Rick OCs:
You choose a word—it could be any word, of any language, even a made-up one—and put it before “Rick”.
Now, you can reverse engineer this to have two options:
• (Start with the character, then choose the name based off of the feeling that the character has)
• (Start with the word, then make the character based off of the feeling that the word has)
Good examples:
Tumblr media
Now…
Multiverse Codification:
That’s right. You get a second “name” for your character, which is their universe’s number.
It can’t just mean nothing. Any numbers together mean something. Angel numbers, numerology, references to other things.
And then you get into specifications.
Are they from the original universe? Or are they from the beta universe? The gamma, delta, zeta?
The point is: you can reinforce feeling here, with Unicode symbols and numbers, that you didn’t fully achieve with the name alone.
Being A-002alpha in the ABO multiverse would have some implications that being from D-665 wouldn’t.
So, this is your second chance to get naming your character right. Or just having fun.
And this goes with any character. Any Morty, Summer, or Beth.
Not Jerry though. They’re all the same.
I’ll do my best to answer any questions and respond to any notes or messages. So I hope you learned something from this, even if it’s just one little tip.
If you did, share it with your chooms. Maybe leave a heart.
And make a good character.

Lay it, lay it down, let me see your hand Show me what you got You're always talking, but you're not playing It doesn't match your face Gotta find my way, away from this place Can you take me now? I-I want it, I want it real Are you afraid of me now? Are you afraid of me now?

Somedays I'm built of metal, I can't be broken But not when I'm with you You love me real, we have it all Can't leave me now I love the way, you are today Run away with me now Wind in my hair, 'cause I don't care Baby, run away with me now Run away with me now
Do you feel it, do you feel it? Do you feel that I can see your soul? Do you feel it, do you feel it? Do you feel the beat in your heart?

Oh, oh Oh oh Oh, oh Oh oh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drinking in the summer, I'm good at running I beat you in the race again Are you afraid, when I look your way? It's easiest to stay at home But then we taste it, we got to have it We have no control Where is the love, the kind we dream of? The kind that makes us young The kind that makes us young
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't leave me Never leave me out Don't leave me Never leave me out Don't leave me Never leave me out Don't leave me Never leave me out Don't leave me Never leave me out Don't leave me Never leave me out
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because we don't see who actually drops that bomb, I would not be surprised actually if it WASN'T Prime who killed his family, but some other 3rd party, likely a Rick, who was watching. Someone who didn't like that Rick was refusing-- OR... maybe the Citadel trying to eliminate C137 at the source?
Or... time travel bullshit? A future version of Rick C137? All too fun to think about. But the whole premise of the song being about RUN AWAY WITH ME, COME WITH ME and then that theme being repeated in Bethnic Twinstinct has my eyes as wide as dinner plates, with pupils to match.

Season 7 episode 5 spoilers
I’m sorry, excuse me but what just happened?
Don’t get me wrong, it was amazing, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the screen. This is probably just gonna be my thoughts on the episode.
Evil Morty
He got his backstory! Yippe! Not that I really needed it nor didn’t want it. It’s nice to see how his backstory is formatted in the same way as C137’s.
I wonder if Evil Morty’s mentality broke faster than other Mortys, or it’s because his Rick didn’t use the mindblower’s enough to keep him in line, or maybe it’s just the way he is.
Tumblr media
Evil Morty describing the “horrors of the infinity” as “another day in paradise”. He’s really content with where he’s at right now. Also he definitely can handle dangerous situations on his own, might I even say, better than Rick (?).
Tumblr media
This makes me worry. It’s fair that Evil Morty doesn’t want a friend right away. The boy must have a LOT of trust issues, and undoubtedly wants to go solo nowadays. Though the idea of escaping the shackles of your predetermined fate, have and CAN do anything you want, but is ultimately alone. The idea of Mortys unable to make friends. Through that is the link between yourself and the destiny you’re trying to break away from. (I am reading waaaay into this than it needed to be, still its a cool angst prompt)
Every time Rick shoot at Evil Morty, I cackled. It’s such a silly gag. A tiny detail I notice from Evil Morty is whenever he goes “mhmm” and “uh-huh”.
Evil Morty being an independent person, tackling problems head-on, staying calm and responsive, that I wished Morty Prime to be.
Morty Prime
I think everyone is on the same page with him this early in the season. He’s being sidelined. I suppose it’s because Marta and the others are still trapped in the Roy machine.
Furthermore, I also think Morty’s there to be a comic relief, a character that the audience can relate how confusing and exciting this ‘whole Rick and Mortys vs Rick Prime’ is. Like look at how happy Morty is after the fiasco, similar to us viewers (or some viewers, I was flabbergasted at the end).
Ex:
Evil Morty: The biggest turd is a pizza.
Morty: How is the biggest turd a-a pizza??
Tumblr media
What are you guys trying to do? Catch him like a small wild animal? like a pokemon??
Overall, Morty is a nice relief from this stressful episode.
Rick Prime
On my first watch, I was confused on why they just ended Prime that quickly (assuming that they did kill him off). Then after some careful considerations, I figured that: They want to end it ASAP in order to focus on character development, or to go back to Rick and Morty classic episodes with a tint of character growth, which is fine with my standards, since this show is called Rick and Morty, it should focus on those two and equally so as well.
Though I’m quite disappointed that they end him like that, or at least direct us to that idea. He has as little screen time as Evil Morty.
But I’m delusional and can’t let my psychotic husband go just yet. There’s always that clone tube, cameos in hallucinations, dreams, maybe AI Prime’s voice installed in some gadget? I need to cope with the slight chance of never seeing Prime ever again so I don’t be get my hopes up and get disappointed in the long run.
The scene where Rick Prime got beaten up by C137 was phenomenal. I’m sure people can use their literacy skills to take it apart nicely, but I’m going to give you my uncensored opinion of it: They’re both so hot omg omg, they’re so gay dangggg, two men kissing will be less homoerotic than whatever they have.
I’m not gonna give any opinions on Rick C137 since I think many excellent posts have already perfectly encapsulated that.
Though I gotta say: Is Rick’s path now going to be similar to Simon Petrikov? Finding purpose again? Will the journey to be fulfilled be assisted by Morty?
S7E5 is fast paced and escalated quicker than I imagine, which reminds me of the time I saw Rick potion #9. Both episodes are ones that will impact heavily the future from now on, the turning page.

HI SORREL i finally got around to watching the rickbot episodes but forgort to tell you about it so im doing that now hi.
my enjoyment of rnm has been 100% oc based for months and months so idrc much for c137 anymore but GOTDAM did rickbot scratch an itch!!!
im really glad that these episodes were more morty focused and i enjoyed seeing him lead the adventure with a rick acting more as the sidekick. their interactions are so sweet and i love love love that rickbot was made for the sole purpose of loving his family and making morty happy…. every time this point was brought up i was like AHHH!!!! because thats EXACTLY the point of girl rick’s character as well!!! love is stored in the rick bot!!
i think i wouldve literally thrown a fit if i didnt already know that rickbot wasnt the real rick because the whole rick redemption arc thing pisses me off in execution. morty going off on rick in the basement…….. man!!!! im glad the show still acknowledges what a dirtbag rick is rather than going through with a “hes suddenly nice and his family forgives him” storyline. morty was awfully quick to join him in the lab which i get is so the show can get on track and remain “rick and morty” but after seeing morty chew out rick so much the ease rick had in roping him back into adventures was like…. :,( free morty
anyways heres them smiling at each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOUIE MY FRIEND LOUIE FROM C137S HAIIIII IM SO GLAD U LIKED RICKBOT he is such a good way to i guess show rick's growth?? like rick obviously isnt gonna change overnight but he's actively putting in work to, indirectly, be a better grandpa. I THINK RICKBOTS A RLLY GOOD ANGLE AND HES JUST SO SILLYFUNNY I LOVE HIM AS WELL. i also love how he shows a lot about morty's character as well. morty rlly doesnt wanna trust him at ALL and its so. maybe not hurtful but it makes me I GUESS SAD? how tentative and scared morty is of being made fun of again like its BRUTAL MAN this kid's emotional state has been destroyed by this fucked up old man . ALSO MORTY IN GENERAL!!!!!!! RAAGHHHH. im just so sosoos glad that he got to do SOMETHING this season like im just AGHH these eps do him so well. SO WELL i appreciate it so much. I AGREE THAT morty joining rick in the lab felt a bit sudden (and i think ive mentioned before somewhere how i wish he just. hadnt gone haha), but i appreciate the fact that!!! he seems visibly uncomfortable with rick's pitch. IM JUST!! EXCITED. s6 in general was a bit of a miss for me and reaalllyyy contributed to my growing indifference, BUT THIS FINALE RLLY ROPED ME BACK IN if only because of what it promises for s7.

1. No particular order except for #1 but: Ricklantis Mixup (emorty and citadel at the same time + just being awesome), Mort Ragnarick (just had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments for me), Rickshank Rickdemption (first of all I love Shawshank Redemption but also its funny and then morty trying to protect summer by disillusioning her from idealising rick was insane), Vat of Acid Episode (the morty love story was so sweet and tragic and imo actually would be an amazing stand-alone short film too), and then ofc Pickle Rick (its a classic for a reason)
2. sperm and dragon orgy ofc are my least favorite but ive also never gotten the hype for Get Schwifty i dont hate it just overrated
3. The entire mini-episode inside Vat of Acid killed me bc it was so perfect, morty cutting off his hand with the train and then using it to kill the guy in such a casual "rick-esque" way, morty trying to protect summer in Rickshank by trying to make her hate rick and it just making her look up to him more (ik i alr mentioned it but it deserves being said twice), BP saying wubba-lubba-dub-dub is actually a call for help, rick going to dr. wong abt everyone trying to fight him
4. "Should I get the net" really got me the first time, the entirety of rick yelling at the white house advisor guy but esp "THEN COME TO 312 OLIVE STREET AND FIND OUT" "...is that her address?" got me, and "Your boos mean nothing - I’ve seen what makes you cheer" is just so rick
5. [theres no 5 but im keeping it to keep the list in order]
6. this is rlly specific but in Rickshank when the bug called him the "smartest mammal in the universe" instead of smartest being in the universe he got offended and thats why he rlly goes in on taunting him at the end before he gets pulled out of the brainalyzer
7. terrifies himself whenever he gets aggressive/cruel bc it reminds him of rick prime, has constant nightmares about rick abandoning him (this was rlly reinforced by the s7 finale for me)
8. very much a dark start but i think each of them has attempted at least once; changing tone, obv trans summer but also shes definitely also bi/pan/other, beth and jerry used to watch soap operas together before rick came home to try and bond but it didnt work, jerry can definitely cook (i think weve seen this in the show but still including it), Mr. PBH used being a college professor to hide out after multiple murders across the country (yes i think hes evil and kinda hate him fight me)
9. frankly i dont think much about prime bc emorty is just the better antagonist but off the top of my head: he would definitely kick a dog then immediately regret it but not show it, hes actly super insecure bc he always had proof that he was the smartest rick but then c137 took that away by also inventing portal travel so he tries to convince himself hes still the smartest because he did it w/o knowing it was possible but he doesnt convince himself
10. as smart as (if not more than) most ricks (created portal travel w help and broke the central finite curve that rick created)
11. i mean i support them all as long as its consenting but more specifically: loved the beth one bc half of her entire thing is that she needs to love herself more even if i didnt like that it was technically cheating?; rick+prime would be purely very drunk hate sex and then never talk about it again; i feel like morty definitely has a crush on emorty but not reciprocated
12. someone else stole the rick council and lawyer morty one bc im slow but other than that the ginger rnm that we see for a total of 10 seconds on screen but still manage to die twice in that time
13. not rlly a theory but an observation that i havent been able to share w anyone about how easy to kill all the citadel ricks are because theyve just become so complacent in thinking that each of them is the most powerful being in the universe, yet any time we see the citadel get attacked (esp rickshank rickdemption) so many are just instantly murked its kinda an ironic karma
14. Theseus by Precious Jewel Armor; kinda a reach but its about dsmp tommyinnit and technoblade and ive always kinda related their relationship to emorty and morty prime with the whole thinking prime/tommy was better than the rest but he still wont join emorty/techno so he has to die instead (dunno if that made sense i can elaborate if asked but itll probably still make no sense)
15. ik i said fav characters were rick c137 or emorty but i shouldve also added beth to that list bc shes lowkey so relatable
could probably add some more stuff but trying to finish before the end of the stars game (i failed but the stars won so yay) for @catholicked (now i need to see urs)
rick and morty ask game :)
(btw you can do one or many of these because some of them take a long time to answer)
1. top 5 episodes and why!
2. least favorite episode(s) and why!
3. moments that make you insane
4. your favorite lines
6. rick headcanons
7. morty headcanons
8. general family headcanons
9. prime hcs
10. emorty hcs
11. opinions on bethcest / mortycest (prime and emorty) / prickcest (prime and c-137)
12. favorite rick and morty pair that ISNT c-137 and prime
13. theories!!!
14. songs that you think relate to them
15. wild card!!

I keep seeing people’s takes like: “Evil Morty is the real hero of the series!” etc and I’m like....you know there doesn’t have to be a hero, right? There are no heroes in Rick and Morty. No, really. There aren’t.
Evil Morty straight up put loads of Ricks and innocent Morties through the blender dimension to get what he wanted. Yes, I know he was trying to escape the Central Finite Curve, but look me in the eye and tell me murdering millions of people is justified.
“Okay then Rick’s family are the real heroes.” There is not a single member of that family that has not done something morally reprehensible/committed mass murder. No, really. Go back and watch it. All of them have blood on their hands.
“Oh but that never would have happened if Rick hadn’t come into their lives.”
Yeah? Well by that logic I could argue C137 is an innocent little bab because “that never would have happened if the Other Rick hadn’t killed his original family.” See? It doesn’t hold up. People being shitty to you does not give you carte blance to be shitty to others. That’s the whole point!
We are all capable of great and terrible things. I think an interesting example is the existence of the CFC because you could argue that its existence is twofold, and one is noble and the other is abhorrent and you could argue that the ends do not justify the means. i.e. It’s to ensure that Rick remains the smartest man in the universe/his ego is protected, even if that means he tolerates the existence of Ricks who hurt Morties, and by extension hurts his Morty with his raging emotional outbursts/crap behaviour because of his trauma. But you could also argue that he wants all the monsters, including himself, trapped in the CFC so they can’t get to other Ricks who choose to turn down the portal gun and be loving fathers and husbands. He doesn’t want what happened to him to happen to them. Again, great and terrible things.
It isn’t about who is the most uwu character, it’s about how facets of you can relate to facets of characters that are telling a story.  I would argue this is the case with EVERY piece of media you consume.
If you constantly try to enjoy every piece of media through a lens of straight up hero/villian you will be disappointed. In fact, I tend to find straight up hero/villian stories boring AF if I’m being honest.
Me before I started writing this: Oh boy oh boy it’s time for my silly morning rant about the TV show full of dick jokes I’m obsessed with before I have my cup of tea and start work! *Pepe Silvia.JPG*

Whats the worst thing Rick has done?
I've mentioned his actions in "the Ricks Must Be Crazy" plenty of times, so I'm gonna bring up a different example for this ask: The time Rick built his grandson a "save-point" device that, unbeknowst to Morty, killed alternate Mortys every time the kid "reset" his place in "time."
This entire thing took place to begin with on account of Morty mocking Rick's ridiculously convoluted, fake acid vat scheme. Unfortunately for him, Rick couldn't take the (justified) criticism. Which led to this...
Tumblr media
Becoming a reality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotta say, creating a Morty-melting device is monstrous by itself. Those other Mortys were his grandsons too, but he treated them as disposable tools; in a way not too dissimilar from how those Ricks behind the Morty breeding program fueled an already abusive system further.
Also...

An Alternate [But still "our Rick," functionally-speaking. Perhaps a Rick C137-B; something akin to the Citadel news Ricks?] Rick: My hands are clean, Morty. I gave you a choice. You could listen to me explain, in great scientific detail, how it all works... or you could have fun. Did you have fun, Morty?
Alternate Rick's previous words: Morty, do you want me to explain, or you wanna go have some fun?
Not much of a heads-up, bro.
Acting as if your hands are "clean" since you weren't the one using your invention, then pinning everything on someone who wouldn't have even used such a horrifying device in the first place if you'd insisted on explaining its functions to the kid despite him unwisely brushing aside your first (and only) attempt at doing so – your logic doesn't absolve you from responsibility whatsoever, my dude.
Rick didn't try any harder because he wanted Morty to throw himself into a situation where he had no other choice but to become public enemy number one and rely on the fake acid vat Rick left there for him as a way out. Yeah, he put Morty through all of that over his fake acid vat – and him by extension – facing ridicule.
All in all, you've got to watch this ep to really feel that WTF.

YOU do rick. for the ask game
Sexuality Headcanon: he is canonically pansexual i have no say in the matter
Gender Headcanon: c137 is trans until season 3, after that hes a cis man because i don’t like him (jk. also ignoring raising gazorpazorp for this response. in my mind he like… transitioned young. is a hashtag MAN for a while. i think being like rick, existing the way he does, you cannot exactly stay a MAN. hes been traveling from planet to planet, dimension to dimension, indulging in alien cultures and such for half his life. i doubt he cares much who calls him what anymore. i wrote an essay about this once i may or may not share it if asked because i am not explaining this well at all) TLDR: i use she and he for rick mostly.
A ship I have with said character: he and nimbus are divorced kismeses, the president is his current kismesis………… palezoned by birdperson. biggest L ever. rickdiane is my second favorite rick pairing ever other than well… these two —> |:] :^) <—NOT JERRY
A BROTP I have with said character: RICK AND JERRY ARE MY FAVORITE DYNAMIC IN THE WHOLE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A NOTP I have with said character: other than the obvious……….. its not quite a notp and more just me not liking bp very much but i cant get into rick person slash bird rick 😭 im sure theyre insane interesting gay tragic etc but i could not care less
A random headcanon: boobs
General Opinion over said character: i cannot see myself enjoying any arcs with him in the future…. seasons 4 and 5 honest to god irreversibly ruined his and mortys character development for me and the only way i’ll be able to enjoy season 6 in a chronological sense is if i can watch in order of s1 s2 s3 s6……………. oops this is not a general opinion. my opinion is that he is my wife

Fandom meme: Rick and Morty
Send me a Fandom !
Character I first fell in love with: Honestly, both Rick and Morty in equal measure and pretty much at the same time ‘cause they were both together in the very first scene (although for different reasons). I remember watching the Pilot for the very first time and going like “omg who the fuck are these two idiots”. I kinda never went past the first ep back then, but when I picked up the show again a couple of years later, I had the same reaction plus “bloody hell, I’m in love”.
Character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Space Beth. She looks a bit clichéd, especially at the start of the ep, but damn, she turns absolutely badass. And I love how she works through her conflicting feelings for Rick while dealing with the whole cloning ordeal. She really finds the guts to stand her ground and say “fuck it”, directs her anger not towards her other self, but towards the one who actually deserves it (Rick), and in the end she decides that she doesn’t care because, all considered, she’s happy with herself and her choices and she couldn’t give a damn about giving Rick any satisfaction. And she enables Earth Beth to do the same, which is freaking awesome.
Character everyone loves but I don’t: Unpopular opinion, but Diane. It’s not that I dislike her or anything, I just...couldn’t care less for her? I see her significance in the show and, especially, in Rick’s backstory, but she’s basically a plot point for me and nothing more. I don’t even know why I’m so indifferent to her.
Character I love but everyone else hates: I can’t think of anyone that fits the “everyone hates” part, but I think we can say that I absolutely love a character most people don’t care for or dislike, which is Evil Rick. We see the guy once and he is not even himself because he’s been controlled by Evil Morty, but...my brain went nuts creating ideas for him and I’m really attached to those HCs.
Character I used to love but don’t any longer: Uhmmm, I don’t think there’s one? Mostly because we don’t really get to see much of the characters that aren’t the main five, so usually my impression of them stays the same. Maybe, maybe, maybe Birdperson? I still like him a lot, but...idk, he looked cooler as a character when they firstly introduced him I guess.
Character I would kiss: Summer. Be it platonically or not, whatever she wants xD While she isn’t my fave character (she’s in the top 5 tho), I truly enjoy her character and like her as a “person” too. She’s hardly the best (but let’s be honest, no one in there is), but I find her approach to all the bullshit she’s faced with realistic and kinda admirable too. I’d love to have her as a best friend. She seriously rocks.
Character I want to slap: Let is be put in the record that I felt like slapping everyone at some point, aside from Summer and Doofus Rick, I guess I’m gonna pick Jerry for this one. For the mere fact that he’s so good ar looking harmless and pathetic that no one ever felt like actually slapping him. But damn if he doesn’t deserve it.
A pairing I love: Anyone who has just glanced at my blog can see that it’s screaming “Rickorty” in capital letters. There’s a ton of things I could say about why I like this pairing (and I’m talking both c137 Rickorty and almost any other version of Rick and Morty...yes, even the Evil pair. Especially the Evil pair), but I’m trying to keep this short and sweet so I won’t xD instead, I’m just gonna name another pairing I really like, and which unfortunately doesn’t get much love, aka Beth & Space Beth (they’re so sweet and badass and you gotta love the way they rock together).
A pairing I hate: I have a few pairings I dislike, but if I had to pick one that really hits my nerves I’d say Morty/Planetina (I wrote a 7k words coda to that episode because the conclusion left me totally unsatisfied, but nvm that). I guess it’s mostly because I really can’t stand her (she’s a huge hypocrite, like the Vindicators, and I gotta agree with a lot of the shit Rick says about all of them because yeah, he’s a total dick about it, but he has a lot of good points). The relationship per se is something Morty can learn from, but outside of that I didn’t enjoy a single moment of it. They aren’t even remotely cute, even if they are presented as such. And it feels like the foundation of whatever feelings they develop for each other are just all wrong, if you get what I mean.

Okay this is a theory not theory or a "hear me out" type of thing. This actually isnt a theory, just a cool what if. Something to be scrapped.
But if you're with me this far let's begin overanalyzing shit!!!!!!!
Argument: The entire show is evil Morty
*mic drops ready for the tomatoes to be thrown*
But guys let's take a step outside of Rick and morty for a second.
You want to talk about rick and morty without talking about rick and morty?
Yes! Second voice I'm using purely for a narrative aspect!
Remember some time ago that Rick and Morty was suppose to be or at least considered to be a procedural type show?
Procedural shows are shows like the Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Tom and Jerry, Futurama, Phineas and Ferb, etc.
Typically a show that has a very obvious formula with characters that typically never change, don't age, and rarely grow. Typically you could tell a show is procedural of you can watch any random episode from any season and understand what's going on (given it is not the final episode of a completed series).
Objectively if you look at Rick and Morty, you can say it it still holds true to its procedural structure. I could start on any episode season 1-4p1 and understand the dynamics of the Smith family.
Okay now just keep in mind that procedural shows last longer than serialized shows.
You can give me shit, but who the fuck is still a fan of Degrassi. And I know that there are some hardcore fans of GoT or Twilight, but I havent seen anymore hype or recent buzz about either of them since it ended (or near ending I dont keep up with stuff). Yet i could go to a person and ask if they watched Friends and some third party will scream to us "PIVOT!" or "They were on a break".
But I'm getting a bit off topic. The thing is Rick and Morty are now going semi serialized, but (hopefully) still keeping it procedural.
The fact is you can start anywhere in the series given the few special episodes. Episodes that are a direct continuation like the ending of season 2 to the premiere of season 3. Those episodes MUST be played together. Ending season 1 to premiere of season 2 is kinda iffy bc they basically summarized/hinted what happened at the end of season 1 with a few sentences.
If you go to most procedural type shows, they tend to have a serialized component which to be honest can be summarized by certain episodes. The serialized component can be either, what I call a "time stamp" or a character change. For time stamp it's mostly used a certain time period the characters response (i.e. the relationship of Rachel and Ross). The other characters tend to reference their relationship in certain episodes.
Or the character change, can be also known as character development, can be the serialized component in which a drastic epiphany happens to the character that changes the relationships with the characters or changes to their environment.
With this as a foundation, let's talk evil morty.
We know that their are infinite versions of Mortys out there. One of them is evil Morty, but it has been shown, by not being shown, how or why this morty became evil. There are many theories out there, most of which I like, but they are just wild speculation. I am going to twist up my own version of it now lol.
What if we've been watching a possibility of a Morty becoming evil. With Rick and Morty being a Procedural type show, the episodes aired does not have to be "in order" with the exceptions of of the special episodes.
Rick, in Rick and Morty, rather not Fuck with time travel, but doesnt mean the audience won't.
Think of it like an archeological excavation. We keep uprooting or discovering more about ancient civilizations or what our past ancestors did, but we don't find them in order. One min. We are discovering something about King Tut, the next we discover something about the the first homosapien.
With this, besides the special episodes, nothing was in order.
This theory is making a huge assumption that we've been watching the same Rick and Morty pair throughout the seasons. Meaning we've been watching Rick C137 and this Morty. This could explain why we dont see alternate versions of our favorite side characters. Why we dont see alternate versions of BirdPerson, Squanchy, Crombobulus Michael, hell another version of Tammy. If we've been watching (at least) the same Rick this entire time, then besides the special episodes, we've been jumping to moments of Rick's life. Like with the recent episode of Never Ricking Morty, Morty was able to buy the toy train because this took place before Rick destroyed the Citadel, but after the introduction of the evil Morty.
With what I've stated previously, hear me out, we've been watching the evolution of evil morty, or at least another version of him. ALTHOUGH only granted that evil Morty is one, if not the biggest climax to Rick and Morty. Remember how procedural shows may have some serialization in their shows. This also means they are not confined to one story arc. Which means evil morty is one of many sotry arcs to be discovered. This "theory" only works if Evil morty is one of the bigger climaxes to the show.
Recall previous procedural shows:
Futurama has 140 episodes
Phineas and Ferb have 189 episodes
I primarily used these tv shows because I am biased and watched them.
I would argue both had procedural and serialized components
With Futurama they had a few story arcs in their show, the one I remember and personally favor is the Leela-Fry relationship.
Similar to Phineas and Ferb, they also had had a few story arcs, with again being bias my favorite being the Phineas and Isabella relationship.
Note: can you see I like relationship arcs
If Evil morty is the one of the biggest story arcs of the franchise they would need to make sure that the ending for evil morty was satisfyingly tied up in a bow similar to the phineas and ferb final episode. If Evil Morty was the Final climax/arc of the franchise, I would say the ending needs to loop back around to make it "open ended" to keep it procedural similar to Futurama for replayability.
Rick and morty was renewed 70 more episodes somewhere after the end of season 3 making the current total of Rick and Morty episodes to barely pass over the 100 episode threshold. Which is the benchmark for networks for a shows profitability or syndication(profit and syndication are completely different dont get that confused).
So with my, hear me out theory, Rick and Morty has a lot of time to explore the evil morty story arc and/ or make better arcs for the future. Expecting it to be explored now in SeASoN 4 feels a bit too soon. If they keep a 10 episode per season schedule we can expect 6 more seasons of Rick and Morty to explore it. If they decide a 12 episodes per season then at least 5 more seasons.
