I'm really attached to the friendship of Aaron and Alexander and it hurts me when people say the musical characters didn't care about each other I know they fell out but still

I hate how the fandom babies aaron burr and demonizes hamilton. hamilton cheated on his wife? he should be publicly executed. burr changed political parties to gain power and then killed a man? maybe he was just hungry!!! give him a break!!!

confession time, here's what i got: (2)
samuel seabury = my number one opp. sorry jadelemonadee i can't get behind the seabury hype. what i CAN get behind though is the aaron burr hype :3 I LOVE AARON BURR!!!! he's simply just a silly guy!! (he shot a man and committed treason)
okay OBVIOUSLY i am joking for laughs and giggles aaron burr is an incredibly complex and morally gray character. no he is not perfect nor is he silly blah blah all the things people say. . anyways seabury is probably at the bottom of my list as a character. idk he's irrelevant and a little annoying to me.
can i please please please be called aaron burr anon. because confession time here's what i got. thank yew signing off

Sometimes I wish the fandom treated Aaron Burr better bc WDYM HE'S THE FUCKIN NARRATOR AND I DON'T SEE ANYONE TALKING ABOUT IT ??? WDYM HE IS ALEX'S COUNTERPART/ANTAGONIST/"VILLAIN" AND YET HE'S THE ONE NARRATING HIS OWN MUSICAL ??
Lin... when I catch you, Lin
No, but srsly, you can't tell me I'm wrong, bc he's EVERYWHERE in the play; he's seen hiding in the background in some songs and even when he's having the time of his life doing nothing on stage he's still relevant bc u know he's the damn fool that shot Ham since the beginning, ofc you're gonna be waiting for something to happen when he's near.
And I still see people describing him as "The loser who shot Alexander Hamilton". It's so disappointing. Lin didn't write Wait for it and TRWIH for you to say that.
I WANT to read big paragraphs yapping about his character, but I haven't been lucky. Ofc I'd be happy to write them if only my English wasn't mid.
TL;DR: Aaron Burr is as important and relevant as Alexander in the musical and I'm tired of pretending I'm okay watching the fandom ignore him just like that.

hamburr has so much potential in the musical mostly because lin really focused on them a lot and made aaron into less of an idgafer I suppose... but people still don't see it

Because somebody asked for it I’ll write an essay defending Burr as well!
I AM FOREVER A BURR DEFENDER SO to see burr solely as a villain would be to overlook the complexity and tragedy of his character. aaron burr, like hamilton, is a deeply flawed but ultimately sympathetic figure who spends his life trying to navigate the difficult balance between ambition and morality. his actions, though sometimes questionable, stem from a place of insecurity, fear, and a desire to secure his own legacy in a world that often pushed him to the sidelines.
burr’s tragedy lies in the fact that, despite his best efforts, he is misunderstood by those around him and, ultimately, by history. he did not hate hamilton, nor did he kill him out of pure malice. instead, burr was a man caught in the wrong circumstances, whose insecurities and caution led to a series of decisions that spiraled out of control. after hamilton’s death, burr was left with deep regret, never truly recovering from the consequences of their fatal duel. rather than condemning burr outright, we should examine his actions with empathy, recognizing that he, too, was fighting to secure his place in the world—just like hamilton. from the very beginning of the musical, burr is presented as someone who is always striving to meet expectations but never quite reaching them. his famous line, “talk less, smile more,” encapsulates his approach to life—he carefully calculates every move, every word, in an effort to avoid making mistakes. burr’s caution stems from a deep-seated fear of failure. he’s a man who has seen the consequences of reckless ambition in others, and he tries to learn from their mistakes by holding back, by waiting for the “right” moment to act. unlike hamilton, who charges ahead without fear of the consequences, burr constantly questions himself, afraid that one wrong move will cost him everything.
when burr finally decides to take a risk and run for president in 1800, it’s an act of desperation to secure his place in history. however, when hamilton endorses jefferson over him, burr’s frustration reaches a boiling point. it’s not just a personal slight—hamilton’s endorsement threatens to undermine everything burr has worked for. it’s this act that pushes burr to challenge hamilton to a duel, not out of hatred but out of a deep sense of betrayal and desperation in many ways, burr’s journey mirrors hamilton’s own. both men are driven by a desire to secure their legacy, to ensure that they will be remembered by history. however, where hamilton is willing to take risks and make enemies to achieve his goals, burr’s fear of making mistakes causes him to hold back. this fundamental difference in their approaches to life is what leads to their eventual confrontation. yet, at their core, both men are striving for the same thing: to leave a mark on the world.
burr’s tragedy lies in the fact that he is so close to achieving his goals, but his insecurities and hesitation ultimately prevent him from reaching them. he is a man caught between his desire for greatness and his fear of failure, and this internal struggle leads to his undoing. burr’s actions, while flawed, are not born out of malice but out of a deep sense of insecurity and a desire for validation.
