The boiling summers of New Orleans bring out the worst in people without fail. Humid, sticky air so thick that one could choke on it if they weren't careful. Everything weighed down and limp, tacky to the touch.

That doesn't stop the tourists from swarming coffee shops for drinks hotter than the air surrounding them.

He's perched in one of the quaint little chairs at quaint little tables while sipping one of said coffees doctored to his tastes.

One horrid little human is berating another, and it's quite putting him off his coffee.

Leaning forward, he clears his throat to get her attention, pupils expanding as he compels the bitch to shut it.

"If you'd shut up for a second... Perhaps... rethink your words, or go walk into the bayou," he speaks with a false cheer, lifting his mug in amusement.

He's rather pleased to watch her actually stand up and leave because that makes her as unredeemable as he is. He glances at the man at the table opposite him with an unrepentant smile, even if no one's the wiser as to what he's done.

"And they say what doesn't kill you... well, I'm sure you know the rest."

wolves were always passionate by nature. if klaus wasn't so worried about being the leader of both factions and keep his siblings in check, he'd solely focus on them. still, connor was a fun vacation away from home. he could never keep his hands off of him when they made it back to his home, he didn't even wait until they were in the bedroom to strip him of all of his clothes. "my little wolf seems to have missed me." after laying down on the ground, klaus leaned up to return the kiss and ran his hands down the man's body. he traced his figure until he could squeeze his cheeks, almost wanting to rip his underwear right then and there.

Early 18th (and late 17th) century fashions are so under-utilized in vampire media and I think it's a damn shame.

I don't actually think I've ever seen a single image of a vampire character in an early 18th century suit. Hardly any movies set in that era either, and hardly any historical costumers who do it. (Even my beloved gay pirate show set in 1717 takes nearly all of its 18th century looks from the second half of the century. Not enough appreciation for baroque fashion!!)

Yes I love late 18th century fashion as much as anyone, and 19th century formal suits are all very well and good, but if you want something that says old, dead, wealthy, and slightly dishevelled, then the 1690's-1730's are where it's at.

There was so much dark velvet, and so many little metallic buttons & buttonholes. Blood red linings were VERY fashionable in this era, no matter what the colour of the rest of the suit was.

The slits on the front of the shirts are super low, they button only at the collar, and it's fashionable to leave most of the waistcoat unbuttoned so the shirt sticks out, as seen in the above portraits.

Waistcoats are very long, coats are very full, and the cuffs are huge. But the sleeves are on the shorter side to show off more of that shirt, and the ruffles if it has them! Creepy undead hands with long nails would sit so nicely under those ruffles.

Embroidery designs are huge and chunky and often full of metallic threads, and the brocade designs even bigger.

Sometimes they did this fun thing where the coat would have contrasting cuffs made from the same fabric as the waistcoat.

I don't know as much about the women's fashion from this era, but they had many equally large and elabourate things.

The scent was off in a way he couldn't explain, only that it was violently wrong in comparison to any other in the Quarter. This man needed to be out of town immediately, or he'd be a danger to them all.

"Mikaelson is all you need to know, and if you've had any experience with the supernatural community, you'll do well to heed the name."

“Not always, I’m a special case,” he replied simply.

The casual disregard, even idiocy, in deferring to New Orleans rules was infuriating. The man was either a fool, or the type of arrogant that thought the rules didn’t apply to his situation. At least he’d faced consequences from killing the man, if the smell and look of him was any indication.

“Neutral territory. A delicate truce between the witches, werewolves and vampires of the city. Not announcing yourself to the covens at least is considered incredibly rude, even if you do ‘work alone’,” he replied, and you could hear the air quotes around the words.

“Dead blood does nothing for me, he’s wasted in every sense of the word. You’ll at least give your name, witch, unless you want to join him on the ground.”

“You bite a fairy or something?” he snorted at the man’s words, ready to walk away. It seemed the other was set on applying whatever false law the supernaturals of the area had agreed to. With luck, he’d be gone by morning, allow the heat to cool before returning for his hunt. 

“I follow no laws, human or otherwise,” he added over his shoulder when he turned his back to the other, he was not a sinner the spirits cared to take so he had no reason to stay. “You can call me Judge, that’s all I’ve gone by since I’ve come back,” Lucas Maze died in the fire with Silent Hill.
