how do each of the main 7 feel about you having fictional crushes and/or playing dating sims lmao
OOOH. To avoid any weird meta, I will refer to non-MM games in this response, haha.
Yoosung would understand, for sure. He's undoubtedly had video game crushes. But he still looks a little sensitive when you spend more time fawning over characters than over him. Like the time you bemoaned losing Itto's 50/50. "Do you only like big, muscular guys like that...?" You end up needing to reassure him.
Zen doesn't understand it at all. He can't grasp the idea of falling for a bunch of pixels or a drawing. "What does this Asmodeus guy have that I don't?" he'd complain. "I'm so beautiful that I'm proof God makes mistakes." He isn't happy to hear Asmo was once the jewel of heaven. "Well, I'm an incredible singer and dancer." Turns out Asmo is too. "I'm... I can do a keg stand!!"
Jaehee also doesn't quite understand, but when you try to compare it to having a crush on a celebrity, she's able to rationalize it. "They're both unattainable and we romanticize them." She sighs as she glances at some of her Zen DVDs. "Can I see that idol girl again? What was her name... Kaede Takagaki?"
Seven completely understands and loves hearing you gush about your fictional crushes. He knows all about falling in love with a false persona. It's helped him survive countless times. But when you eagerly show him your latest SSR of Artem Wing, he can't help but chuckle softly. Is this your type? An upstanding citizen? A hard-working professional? A tall, dark, and handsome? Seven can only see his own flaws until you surprise him with a kiss on the nose. "Come pick your favorite!" you urge him. "I know you like pretty boys just as much as I do, if not more." That's right. It's a game. In this reality, you chose him.
Jumin seems like the type who would be critical of fictional crushes, but he understands how people can sometimes find solace and attachment in non-humans. He would listen patiently with Elizabeth in his lap as you excitedly show him how you’ve collected every Yukina Minato card in the game. The only problem is when he starts using the word "blorbo" unironically at C&R.
Ray would be extremely paranoid. The way you talk about these characters with such a sparkle in your eye... What if you come to like his "AIs" more than you care about Ray himself? He can't help but try to dig into your phone to figure out the defining traits of all of your favorite characters, to see if he can learn something that would benefit him. But when he sees Sakuya Nijou, he suddenly feels more relaxed.
V doesn't have particularly strong feelings about your love for your fictional characters. If anything he probably loves scrolling through your Love Live costumes to get inspirations for future photographs or paintings, once you nudge him to begin painting again. He particularly likes Shizuku Osaka's aesthetic.

Pregnancy Series - Part 6
Meeting the baby for the first time
⚠️ Sensitive content -> mention of: labor pain, blood, fluids ⚠️
Pregnancy Series: Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4.1 // Part 4.2 // Part 5
Last chapter! So, I hope you all enjoy this one! Feel free to tell me in the comments or send me a message ( even as anon if you want ! ) Soon new requests will be posted again...it was a nice time with the series....I will miss it, you too?
BTW! The request was that the baby doesn’t look like them despite being their baby!
jumin
Your husband stroked your head after the hard time you had giving birth to your first son.
Well, the labor itself didn’t really last long but you still had a hard time.
You were sleepy and at some point you had the feeling that you couldn’t even breathe, almost giving Jumin a heart attack.
But when the both of you finally heard your baby cry for the first time, you all relaxed.
,,IT’S A BOY!’’ the midwife announced happily, making Jumin cry as he praised you, proud to be finally able to call himself a father.
The nurses and medics around you guys got everything ready and you were carried into another room so that the maid could tidy up the room. Your baby was also weighed and checked up on.
Jumin was really happy that you guys decided to give birth at home. Of course, this was only possible because everything was alright with you and the baby.
,,So, meet your mommy and daddy,’’ the midwife whispered as she approached you, softly giving you your baby boy.
,,Oh,’’ you gasped, surprised by the beauty of your boy.
But your eyes quickly met Jumin’s.
,,Was your mom blonde?’’ you asked him.
He looked over to you. He was smiling and not even a bit concerned that the baby wasn’t looking like him at all.
Maybe it was even better that the baby was totally different.
Jumin shook his head.
,,Don’t worry, I can already feel the bond between us. I trust you,’’ he whispered and kissed his baby on his head softly since he was still so soft.
,,Wanna hold him too?’’ you whispered and waited for his response.
Jumin nodded excitedly, wanting to hold his own little baby in his arms.
Finally his wish came true.
Jumin held him and cradled him, just like a real father.
,,Mr Han,’’ Jahee softly called him. ,,I informed your father as well as the RFA and will take my leave to prepare everything in the company,’’ she whispered.
,,Jaehee,’’ you called your friend.
,,It’s impossible that the aunty goes without seeing the baby! Step in!’’ you called her.
Nervously, Jaehee stepped in and looked at what Jumin held between his arms.
,,He looks so handsome…’’ she gasped.
You chuckled as you laid back. ,,It’s our son after all,’’ you yawned and slowly fell asleep…
Three years later, you once again were pregnant. Your son by now was almost turning three.
He was blonde and had blue eyes. Apparently your mother’s family was blonde.
And even though no one could believe at first that this was Jumin’s son, as soon as they saw how he acted, they all knew that this was indeed a Han. The bloodline was still in the heir of C&R.
,,Father, I believe that the maid made a mistake with organizing my toys. I think we need someone better!’’ he whined, pulling his father.
Jumin took his son seriously, but of course he knew that his son was still three. What didn’t hold him back from making everything possible was his might.
Zen
You heard how Zen nagged at someone, but before you could try to concentrate on what he was saying, another wave of pain hit you, making you scream in pain.
,,I‘m here, baby, I‘m here,“ Zen whispered, holding your hand.
You turned around to him and smiled with the last of the strength you had.
,,I wanted to have a barbecue,“ you whined, making him chuckle.
,,As soon as you give birth, I will send them to get you food,“ he promised.
,,I can’t wait to eat kimchi,“ you laughed, breathing the pain away.
Zen smiled apologetically. ,,You can’t eat spicy food while you’re breastfeeding,“ he told you.
,,AHHHH!“ you hissed. He wasn’t sure if you screamed in pain or because you were angry that you still couldn’t eat spicy food, but whatever it was, he was scared.
,,It’s open by four centimeters. Soon we will be there,’’ the midwife smiled.
Well, that soon changed into an hour, two, three, and finally four hours.
,,You’re doing so well,’’ your boyfriend told you. By now you had to wear an oxygen mask because you couldn’t breathe.
,,Maybe we should do a C-’’ before the nurse could even end her speech, you moved your head, pressing Zen’s hand stronger as you pushed.
,,Mc!’’ he called you, holding onto you stronger.
You pushed and pushed. You sometimes had the feeling that air was missing, but you kept pushing until finally a cry was heard, making you collapse onto the bed.
,,MC?!’’ Zen whined, but the nurse next to you calmed him down as she checked your vitals.
,,It was hard. She will sleep for a few minutes, don’t worry,’’ she smiled.
Zen nodded and looked over to his baby. She had a little dark hair and also her skin was a bit darker than his, but she was still the most beautiful baby he had ever seen.
,,Would you like to cut the cord?’’ the midwife asked, explaining to him how to do it.
Just when he was about to take the baby, you weakly called him. ,,Hyun, let the mother hold her first!’’ you whined.
Zen smiled as he nodded, observing how the baby was placed in your arms.
,,Princess, hello,’’ you whispered, tearing up at her sight.
,,She is so… perfect,’’ you whispered.
Zen couldn’t help but kiss your head and his baby’s as he decided to go out to tell everyone the news.
Of course he saw how shocked they were, maybe because he was crying like an idiot, but as soon as he told them that your baby girl was beautiful, they all looked so happy.
,,Take her! Show us!’’ Jaehee hissed as she began to cry too.
A few seconds later he and the nurse stepped out, a pink bundle in his arms as he showed the RFA his newborn girl.
,,She doesn’t look like you. She must be happy,’’ Jumin teased Zen.
,,She looks even better,’’ he whispered.
,,I really thought that your DNA would be stronger,’’ Yoosung commented.
,,It’s okay, I don’t mind. She’s still mine,’’ Zen said and smiled. He already loved her so much…
A year later, you and the RFA finally could do what you missed last year - the korean barbeque.
And this time, a special guest had her appearance too.
,,Say, cheese!’’ Zen blabbered as you held your daughter in your arms, her long dress fit perfectly with the big birthday cake she had on her face, liking her little chubby fingers.
,,Say, Daddy come too!’’ you whispered, taking her hand and waving at Zen while Jumin tried to take not so blurry pictures of you…
Thank God Jaehee used her phone too...
Yoosung
,,Dr Kim! Finally! A dog was hit by a car and needs medical assistance immediately!“ a co-worker of Yoosung said as he cut the call.
He looked inside, seeing from the windows that a young girl sat on the floor, her dog in her arms, crying over a pet.
If he didn’t know about Rika‘s and Sally‘s death, he would believe that this was his cousin.
The young man hesitated, his phone still in his hand.
At a totally different place, you were trying to keep your breath in rhythm as your mother stroked your hair.
Half an hour passed ever since you finally arrived at the hospital with the ambulance you called, your‘s and Yoosung’s mother with you in the room.
It was a kind of stressful situation. Your mother was happy, but at the same time a bit disappointed that Yoosung was still missing and his mother, your in-law, was worried over her son as he still wasn‘t there.
It was his first born. He fought so hard for this son that there was no way he would miss this opportunity.
,,I‘m going to call him again,“ she said as she was about to open the door to your room as it suddenly opened by itself.
,,I‘m here,“ he said, out of breath.
,,Where- why did you take such a long time?“ you asked him, worried and annoyed at the same time.
,,I- I was almost fired because they didn’t seem to understand that I wasn’t running away from work, but on my way to support you,“ he gasped.
,,What did I miss?“ he asked you, as you smiled, telling him that he was just in time.
Again, a wave of pain hit you as you gasped and tried to breathe through the pain.
Yoosung was a good support, telling you sweet words, stroking you, everything went well.
Finally, you were ready to push and from then on everything took about five minutes.
Yoosung was there when his first born took its first breath, when she cried for the first time. Yoosung was there to cut the cord, he saw how the little, also bloody, human being
to wash the baby for the first time and give her to you, making her stop crying as soon as her skin met yours.
,,She’s so beautiful…’’ you whispered. The tears didn’t want to stop falling as you held her in your arms.
,,But she has blonde hair. You still can’t match her,’’ you chuckled.
Yoosung nodded. ,,She doesn’t look like me at all. Maybe that’s why she’s so beautiful?’’ he asked you.
You laughed as you heard your comment, but your eyes never left your baby's little body.
,,Daddy is handsome, right?’’ you whispered, stroking your newborn's arm.
A few moments later, the nurse asked if Yoosung would like to hold her and wash her, since you were in too much pain to do it, something he agreed to immediately.
With the nurse telling him what to do and how to do it, Yoosung gave his baby their first bath, slowly and softly and with so much love.
,,You need to be really careful with the head,’’ the doctor explained and also told him the reason.
After your baby was fresh, you were allowed to have it again and just when you felt your baby's warmth again, your mother and mother in law entered the room, crying over their first granddaughter.
,,You looked exactly like her, Mc!’’ your mother proudly said as Yoosung’s mother looked at the baby with lovely eyes. ,,I hope my next grandchildren will also not get a single DNA from your looks!’’ she teased him.
Jaehee
The car ride was a rather calm one. Luckily, you were a bit in pain, but nothing like in the movies where the women cry and groan in pain.
,,Everyone reacts differently,’’ Jaehee told you as she stroked your arm, proud of you for handling this pain.
,,We’re here,’’ Seven announced, stepping out of the car and opening the door for you to help you.
Just when you stood next to the door, both feet on the ground outside the car, you felt a fluid coming out, running down your legs and wetting the ground below you.
,,Shit, this almost landed in my car!’’ Seven gasped as Jaehee climbed out of the red car, seeing that your water just broke.
,,Oh my god, the baby will come soon, Seven. Please call a nurse and bring us a wheelchair!’’ she whined and helped you walk a bit as Seven began to run towards the entrance.
,,Are you still okay?’’ Jaehee asked you worriedly and helped you to keep moving.
You nodded. There was a sharp pain indeed, but you could still handle it.
All you wished for was a hospital bed because for sure you wouldn’t give birth on the street.
,,Please sit down here. A midwife is already on her way!’’ a nurse called and helped you to sit down on the chair, rolling you quickly towards the entrance, followed by Jaehee with her bag.
Indeed, you all really had to hurry. As soon as they helped you change and laid you down on a bed, the contractions began to hit you.
You felt the urge to push and you moaned in pain.
,,We can begin!’’ a midwife announced and looked at Jaehee. ,,She will give birth now!’’ she told her.
Jaehee got nervous and finally the time came.
Holding your hand, she nodded. ,,Mc, you can do this!’’ she encouraged you while you spread your legs apart, pushing and leaning forward to put pressure on your belly.
,,UGH!’’ you groaned and laid back, gasping for air.
,,Okay, another push!’’ the midwife said, the same game again, you groaned again when you felt something slowly coming out.
,,I can see the head! Keep pushing!’’ she laughed.
Jaehee looked over to the midwife. She could also see the top of the baby, feeling more excited when the baby moved again.
,,The last push!’’ the midwife called and you did what she said.
Falling back, you gasped for air as the room was filled with a loud baby's cry.
Immediately, they handed you the baby boy, where you put your arms around him, holding him.
,,Oh gosh, he is so tiny!’’ you whined and looked at him.
Jaehee was also sobbing by now. ,,I’m so sorry that he looks nothing like you, but I am so thankful that you are here. He is your son too,’’ you told her.
Her lips were pressed together as she nodded.
,,Our son,’’ she whimpered.
A few days later, the three of you were finally ready to go home. Jaehee was carrying the baby in her arms and buckled him good in the back seat of the taxi as you slowly got in yourself.
,,Let’s go home,’’ you whispered to Jaehee, holding her hand.
,,Let’s go,’’ she said as she took yours, smiling.
Saeyoung
The red haired man didn’t come much later than you to the hospital room and was quickly by your side as your belly was connected to some tubes and wires.
They were monitoring the baby. Saeyoung knew that they weren’t there because something was wrong or bad, but still, it kind of scared him to see it all.
,,How are you?’’ he asked you while you had your eyes closed, opening them a bit to look at him.
,,Good, now that you’re here,’’ you whispered and squeezed his hand with your fingers, making him endure the pain.
,,Sorry,’’ you groaned when it got better, making him shake his head.
,,You are enduring much more than I am, so feel free to squeeze my hand,’’ he told you and stroked your head.
Suddenly, the machine made some beeping sounds, making him shriek and look at it, not understanding what was happening.
,,Move aside!’’ a nurse called as she entered, followed by your midwife and a doctor.
Saeyoung was quickly pulled aside as they told you something.
He was so overwhelmed by all his feelings that he forgot to listen to them.
He just somehow came back to life when he heard you cry and scream.
,,Once more!’’ the nurse said loudly and made you exclaim some words he didn’t get while you were pushing.
Saeyoung watched the whole scenario as you were pushing a little, brown haired baby out of you, covered in blood.
He began to sob when he realized that it was his daughter you just gave birth to.
,,The first girl is here!’’ the nurse happily laughed.
Saeyoung just focused on the baby and saw how she carried the crying baby away.
When his eyes couldn’t follow the nurse with his daughter anymore, Saeyoung focused on you again, seeing that you were still pushing and giving your best.
He also noticed that by now, some of your fears had come true. He had to press his lips together to not laugh and to not make you feel bad, but even though you were giving birth to a second girl, you saw him and seemed to understand his thoughts.
,,CHOI SAEYOUNG! ONE WORD TO ANYONE ABOUT ME POOPING AND I WILL KILL YOU!’’ you screamed and finally, a second scream filled the room.
,,There’s no need for me to do that! You did that yourself,’’ he laughed and came to you, kissing your nose.
The first baby finally came back and was immediately brought into your arms, followed quickly by the second twin.
,,Both are brown haired. I can’t say Tomato Girls anymore,’’ Saeyoung whined as he observed them.
,,Nope, you can’t tease my girls indeed,’’ you chuckled.
,,They totally don’t look like Saeyoung, I’m happy,’’ Jaehee commented in the chatroom when Saeyoung posted a picture Saeran took holding his babies.
,,I am too,’’ Saeran commented, teasing his brother.
,,They look just like Mc,’’ Yoosung said, but Saeyoung put his phone aside since right now his top priority was to observe his three ladies sleeping. ,,I know that you three are all mine, so I don’t care about your looks,’’ he mumbled and enjoyed the sight of his family.
Saeran
And so, as soon as you cut the call, you dialed the ambulance’s number, hoping that they would be there just in time to help you.
You were happy that you were finally giving birth, but on the other side, you were more than scared.
You knew that twins arrived earlier, but as a mother, you still were concerned.
Unable to think of anything else, you felt as if you drowned into your fears until the door rang, showing you that help was already there.
,,I honestly didn’t think that this would hurt so much,’’ you whined as Saeran was next to you. You knew that he had to keep himself together to not cry with you as you endured the pain.
Saeran looked down to your trembling hand as he sighed.
Hours passed and the pain just increased. Saeran was now massaging your temples and cleaning your sweat.
Suddenly, a loud sound made him turn around and look back to you, noticing that you were really pale.
,,Mc?’’ he called you, making you look at him.
,,It hurts,’’ you gulped and closed your eyes, hoping that it would get better.
,,No use, we need a C-Section!’’ someone said and roughly pushed Saeran away.
He couldn’t follow the medical words as you were suddenly brought away from him.
,,Wait, MC!’’ he tried to run after you, being held back by a nurse who was trying to calm him down.
More hours passed and Saeran was left alone in the big room, waiting for you and some news of you and his boys.
,,I can’t believe that three years passed so quickly already,’’ you laughed as you kissed one of your son’s heads, watching them eat their breakfast.
,,I know, back then those hours I was waiting for you were the worst. I’m happy that they could help you and at least stop the pain for a bit,’’ Saeran sighed as he thought back to that time when the nurse came up to him with one of the babies.
,,At first I thought it was a joke when the nurse told me you didn’t want to hold him!’’ you chuckled.
Saeran blushed.
,,He… first of all she just brought me one baby! I couldn’t have known that the other boy was too weak to see his daddy,’’ Saeran said, not so loud and observed his second son who apparently was too weak that day.
,,Our Haru was still too weak while Haneul was eager to see daddy,’’ you said, smiling.
,,Besides, I expected them to be red haired. He didn’t look like me at all. I thought she mistook the baby!’’ Saeran defended himself.
Maybe the next baby will have your looks,’’ you said, patting your belly and observing your sons making a mess on the table.
Jihyun
You were breathing heavily after the third push as nothing seemed to move forward.
The doctor kept telling you that you were doing great, but you didn’t trust him at all.
You felt impatient, nervous, frustrated, and in pain.
Jihyun seemed to feel that you were unhappy with the situation and kept stroking your head and patting your arm, encouraging you.
,,I love you so much,’’ he whispered.
Suddenly the doctor said something that gave you new hope. ,,I see the head, come on, we will be finished soon!’’ he smiled and gave you another push of strength as you finally let go of the tension.
You were just enjoying the cries of your baby. Finally, you could meet the little baby you were carrying for so long under your heart.
The baby was placed on your chest and immediately stopped crying, making you tear up.
So this was the connection between a mother and her child? You asked yourself.
You looked over to Jihyun who, too, was crying, enjoying the sight of the both of you.
He was probably implanting the sight of the both of you in his head.
Later on, Lucy too was allowed to visit you and her little sibling.
,,But he doesn’t look like daddy at all!’’ the little girl exclaimed, making you laugh.
Well, she was right.
But you all knew that this was for sure Jihyun’s baby, even though no one would say so.
Days passed and finally you guys were allowed to go home, something that made you more than happy. Sleeping, or at least laying in your own bed, made you feel much better than you thought.
,,Is he asleep?’’ Jihyun asked you when you stepped out of the room. It was three pm and you were honestly also ready for a little nap.
Laying your head on his shoulder, you nodded in response and felt his warm hands on your back.
,,Lucy must feel neglected,’’ you whined, feelings overwhelming you since you noticed that these days you didn’t do much. It was either sleeping, eating, or taking care of the baby.
,,No, she is such a caring child and understands, don’t worry. I am with her,’’ Jihyun tried to calm you.
,,Actually, while you and the baby were sleeping, she helped me with something. Come with me,’’ Jihyun whispered and led you to his working room, making you gasp.
,,It seems as if someone took a picture of us,’’ you gasped, again in tears as you saw the moment you held your son for the first time in your arms from the view of someone behind you.
He also managed to insert Lucy into the portrait as if she was there in that one, special moment.
,,She really helped you?’’ you asked him again and couldn’t believe what your eyes were observing.
,,I indeed have the best family,’’ you sobbed as Jihyun hugged you firmly.
Vanderwood
,,Are we all sure that this isn’t a false alarm?’’ Saeyoung asked loudly so that even you, in your room, where you were currently being examined, heard him.
By now you were somehow nervous, agitated.
You glared at Vanderwood who seemed to understand.
As soon as the doctor told you that you were doing well and that you didn’t even need an epidural, Vanderwood went out of the room for a short moment to tell Saeyoung to ,,Either shut the heck up or go and buy your bed on your own!’’ making you feel kind of bad afterwards, but you just needed it.
,,I’m honestly so happy that you aren’t in pain,’’ Vanderwood said when he returned. It was amazing how quickly he could change his mood.
You smiled at him and took his hand.
,,It’s a bit painful, but not that bad. I’m managing,’’ you smiled and looked down to your belly.
Soon you would be able to hold your girl.
,,Three more centimeters are missing,’’ Vanderwood whispered and put his head on yours, smiling as you closed your eyes to feel the warmth your body was sending you.
Time quickly passed and you were finally able to push.
You were rather quick and everyone in the room was positively surprised.
You didn’t scream or cry like most women, you just pushed and gave birth to your sunshine.
The midwife quickly took the baby while you and Vanderwood heard her cry and all your fears of any possible complications vanished.
,,The father can cut the cord if he wishes,’’ the nurse said and of course, Vanderwood didn’t wait and did what he was told, already tearing up.
The baby was quickly put in your arms where you could finally take a good look at her.
You chuckled when you saw her. ,,She is yours, I swear,’’ you told him as you looked at Vanderwood.
,,I know. I feel it even though she doesn’t look like me at all,’’ he smiled.
,,You know, she will probably only have my looks and be totally you with your characteristics,’’ you told him.
After a while, you decided that Vanderwood, too, had the right to have his baby in his arms and while he did so, holding that little miracle in his arms, you decided to take a hidden picture of him and his little girl. The first picture.
,,Why are you crying? Are you in pain?’’ Vanderwood asked you when he looked at you again.
,,No,’’ you sobbed. ,,It’s just that… you again look like a handsome man and… with the baby you look even better and I… I look like shit!’’ you hiccuped.
Vanderwood chuckled when he heard your words and handed you the baby. ,,You look like this baby. You’re still saying shit?’’ he asked you, calming you down.
The day was pretty emotional for you, which was a reason why Vanderwood decided to send the boys, who were waiting for you guys, home after greeting you shortly, to a shop for a bed for the whining grown up man while he could enjoy time with his own little family.

Mystic Messenger Saeran’s AE Thoughts (.......And Prayers..) #Spoilerz
Hello, I just finished Saeran’s after ending and I have a lot of things to say and I am going to write it down while I'm still all keyed up about it.
First of all… Please DO NOT ask me how much money I spent to finish this as fast as I did…. I’m grown but my bank account is certainly going to have a good ole fashioned CHUCKLE at this….. It’s been a long quarantine I deserve a lil happiness as a treat methinks!
I have been playing this absolutely insane game since I think 2016? When I first started playing the deep routes had JUST come out I think? And I was just finishing up high school and am now a college grad...lmao
I’ve played all routes at least once except Jaehee but i’ve seen walkthroughs of her route (I’ve heard it makes you hate Jumin and he’s my favorite so um. hehe). V’s and Saeran’s routes I found to be so emotionally intense and just….a lot and I've been waiting a long ass god damn time for this after ending okay…. I would theorize and make up an ending in my head but i’m no writer so it was hard to figure out lol. I’m a Jumin stan mostly but I love everybody and yeah I should probably play that jumin dlc too but I need like a DAY to recover from Saeran’s AE. Enough about me HERE are my thoughts on it overall
Major Saeran AE Spoilers under da cut!
Can we please discuss V showing up to the C+R conference room with basically chloroform and made everybody Pass Out like??? I was alone in my room at like midnight just SCREAMING at my phone???? And the creepy ass CG ???? It’s like that gif of sarah paulson from ahs being like “I put arsenic in the wine….and the pasta”
Anyway I screamed at V a lot during this process!!
Loved RFA being sweet and kind to saeran (before V fucking drugged them…)
This is such common V behavior “I have to do it all myself...there’s no other way..” GIRL SHUT UPPP You do this every route....
SO many CG’s and I enjoy them a lot
Saeran’s sprite looks a little TOO crisp compared to everyone else but maybe its a glitch??? V next to him is in 480p while saeran is like 1080p
Hearing both Saeran and Saeyoung missing the other brother the whole time??? PAIN. All my homies know is PAIN
BOSS and his V for Vendetta ass guy fawkes mask??? I literally yelled “this game is TERRIBLE!!” several times at my phone
Their dad is so>??????? When he was sitting on the couch with saeyoung in that one CG while simultaneously telling him to kill himself?????????? Maybe chairman han is actually the best dad in this game somehow
When V and Rika were like we’re back together teehee teehee okay pack it up bonnie and clyde ..
When chairman han calls u and says hes jealous of u and saeran…..HUH????? I’m calling HR
When they go to the apartment and see boss and vanderwood and poor saeyoung is sitting there seeing his brother for the first time in years i wanted to D word sooooo bad like PAIN...PAIN….
Can we HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT JUMIN HAN BEING THE BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME AND HE LOST EVERYTHING IN THIS AE……. he just took the blame and moved on jumin what the hell….. I love him so much r we serious? He watched his 2 closest friends betray him in the worst way and found out abt how Rika abused Saeyoung and Saeran???? I felt just AWFUL. Terrible ...Terrible….
Rika’s change in demeanor from Saeran's actual route is certainly a Choice. I find her much more bearable this time around and unfortunately i think I was too nice to her and ended up with a bad end LMFAO
I was happy to see Saeran stand up for himself and become stronger and confident. You go king!
The CG of Yoosung laying in Zen’s lap is everything to me…
HOWEVER YUP I sure did get a bad ending and I was so mad fdsafdskfdhsf ! (I would be happy to clarify how I got the good one the second time.) MAKE SURE To SAVE EARLY in days 2 and 3 bc the branches on day 4 is where the bad end will show up. For me it was the first day 4 chat and then a story mode titled “SAVIOR”.... If you see that RUN FOR THE HILLS!!
I was so mad! But I had saved in day 2 and replayed and MANAGED to get good end
I’m obsessed with everyone calling V and Rika “that psychotic couple” like…..its true its true…
No those two are so toxic… V’s route was torture watching them go on and on about the sun like yo can yall just call each other babe like normal people.
I respect straight people but not V and RIka that shit was just wrong… Straight marriage was a mistake
Oh lord i also FULLY Forgot Rika killed the twins’ mother…. Yeah that scene was um Certainly a lot but it needed to happen eventually
Like it’s good they know but damn that storyline is just so bleak
I think it was satisfying TO A DEGREE….To see Rika understand where she was wrong, why she was wrong, fess up and even APOLOGIZE! I was very surprised.
Saeran and Saeyoung are Certainly twins with the amount that those two self sacrifice in every route MY GOD…..
The scene with Jumin talking to his father and the other scene of him praying oh my god I cannot tell you how happy I was to see him begin to understand and address his own feelings in a route that was not his own. My main problem with Jumin’s route has always been the trapping MC in his penthouse aspect.. This way Jumin understands love and emotions without being overly possessive !!! YAY also loved seeing him be on good terms with his dad who was surprisingly profound
That last Story mode was Really a Lot…. and Strange things occurred which I will get into in just a minute
Jumin becoming a politician is so funny but ngl … i see it.
Yoosung going to france to study pastries ok king I see u! (it made more sense to me than the vet thing anyway)
Lastly Zen FURRY ERA
MY BEEF With the AE
I was happy with how they handled it for the most part. I think Cheritz heard our feedback about V’s after ending and was like okay….let’s try something different
HOWEVER
Saeran…. Sweet kind saeran… IS SO AFFECTIONATE HAHA….
He must have said I love you like 300 times…..very mushy gushy flowery language...and maybe that’s just his personality but for me it was like eating cake with buttercream cake. It means well, but god damn is it sugary and going to cause a stomach ache later.
He was just… SO MUCH! SO forward and ON all the time in his affections. I honestly felt kind of smothered and by day 3 and 4 I was sooooo over all the compliments… King you’ve come a very long way, but ur still putting MC on a pedestal and probably need to see a therapist.
Nextly….Rika and V….. Naw that knock out gas really ...that hurt lol. Coming from “I would do anything to protect RFA” V? Idk like…. EYE felt betrayed reading that. It was just hurtful. I can’t even imagine how the members would have felt as they were passing out. It was just so cruel. I suppose I understand why but like?? Just TERRIBLE
Them being in cahoots with the agency and the prime minister..HUH??? Also too much
V just felt so irresponsible like I do understand that he ended up in a weird web of secrets that’s hard to untangle but he’s so fucking stubborn he’s SO stubborn it makes me insane. Like sir… It seems like in other routes he wanted to try to protect Rika and the RFA.. But in this AE it seems more to me that he was like yeah i’m protecting Rika and That’s It… so fucking hurtful to me. Both of y’all apologize ESPECIALLY to the twins and Jumin..
The forgiveness thing…… Okay so I think some people will not like that Saeran decided to “forgive” the people who hurt him (Rika, V, Saejoong, his mother). I would point out that I actually think this was approached somewhat well. He says at one point that he doesn’t think they’re good or bad, just people. I think he sounded mature and like this was the way for him personally to accomplish his healing process. Would I have loved for Saeran to flip V and Rika off and kick Saejoong off a cliff? Yea I really would. But like…. If that’s what HE needs to do to heal then who am I to judge?
HOWEVER…. Everything Eye just said goes out the window when the scenes at the end with Saejoong come up… I was PERPLEXED. Like why did he HUG his deranged father who just kicked the shit out of him??? Also all the chat options that MC has with him r like blah blah you’re like this because no one loves you were so corny to me LMFAOOOO?
AND WHEN HE WAS IN THE ROOM LATER WITH SAERAN… i’m sorry but if that were me I would have called a nurse to deck his ass. Cool he turned himself in YOU SUCK SOOOO BAD AND I NEVER WANT YOU TO COME NEAR SAEYOUNG AND SAERAN AGAIN THANKS.
*scratches ass* I wish I got to see saeyoung and saeran finally sit down and have that first conversation after a long time and hug CG but the ending was fine I GUESS….. I dont care about ROMANCE I want those boys to be happy brothers together
Anyway that was really emotionally exhausting but I fr think I got it out of my system after literal years… And I can rest in peace knowing the choi twins are happy. THATS ALL I WANTED TO KNOW!!!!

Helloo! I like your writing a lot!! If you don’t mind can i request the rva + v, and saeran with mc who’s really sensitive? Like she cry when someone raise their voice, or when she feel someone becoming distant to them? Im sorry if my english is bad 😅 thank you!! I hope it’s not burdening you
Thank you so much anonie! Don’t worry, It wasn’t a burden at all!!! Sorry if it took longer than you wanted, I’m taking two summer classes right now, and they’ve been a lot of work these past couple weeks. As a Certified Sensitive Bitch, I found this request really interesting. I tried to make all of their stories different to keep it from being repetitive.
I hope you enjoy it!! Requests are open <3
Possible spoilers: Jaehee’s Good/Normal Ending, some of Saeran/V/Seven’s routes.
Warnings: Slight swearing, not much.
RFA+V+Saeran: With a Sensitive MC (especially to yelling or distant)
Yoosung
He was stressed. He was just on edge. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you. This exam season will determine whether or not he’s accepted to vet school. It’s normal for him to be stressed. He’s just a little stressed…
You made dinner that night, keeping your headphones in so your music didn’t disturb him. You had finished almost all of your finals last week, only having one this week, so you decided to help him out.
You put his dinner in front of him as you sat down across the table. You were on your phone as you ate, and he would take a bite every once in a while.
You tried to focus on your phone. You really really did.
...But he had literal bags under his eyes; something you hadn’t seen on him in a long time. You made dinner half an hour ago, and Yoosung had taken about two bites from it.
“Yoosung, have you eaten anything today?”
“What?” He glanced up from his textbook for a moment, not even long enough for you to look into his eyes. “Oh, yeah! Uh… I ate a little bit after you left earlier.”
“I left at 9 a.m. for class,” you said, “Yoosung, you need a break. You need to eat.”
“MC-”
“You’re gonna burn yourself out,” you insisted, “At this rate, you’ll collapse during your exam.”
“Can you just leave me alone? God just because you don’t know what you’re doing with your life doesn’t mean you have to drag me down with you!” He yelled.
You weren’t sure if you were more hurt or angry; your glare mixing in with your tears. “Oh, fuck you.”
Yoosung finally looked up at you with wide eyes. You never cussed at him. Should he be more worried about that or your tears?
You sniffled and covered your mouth, already feeling your throat burn as you tried to hold back more tears. Your hands were shaking, just wanting to scream at him about how you just cared about him, how he went for a low blow, how you needed to know that he was alright.
Yeah… he was more worried about the tears
“Just because you’re stressed about your exams doesn’t mean you get to yell at me,” you said with a shaking voice.
He didn’t know what to say, so you both just stared at each other for a moment. With a sigh, you grabbed your bag and walked to the door.
Yoosung’s mind finally caught up with his body, and he ran up to you to grab your wrist. “Wait- I- I’m so sorry!” You stared at where your hands connected. Yoosung took this as a sign to continue. “You were right. I didn’t take a break all day, and I took it out on you. Will you take a break with me... Eat with me?”
“...I can’t deal with being yelled at.”
He pulled you into a hug by your hand. “Then I’ll never yell at you again.”
You were still hurt, but you could feel his promise through his hug. “Wanna eat then?”
“Of course,” he said as he pulled back to kiss you on the forehead, “Especially since you made it, so it’s made with extra love!”
You smiled at him as you puckered your lips, and he kissed you.
“So you forgive me?”
“Mostly,” you said, “I think I need a couple more kisses to fully forgive you.”
Jaehee
Jaehee wasn’t the type to yell
She was raised in a household that didn’t want her. A household where her aunt always yelled.
While everything her aunt did hurt her, it was the yelling that taught her to shut up.
So she learned to disagree calmly. Or not at all.
You were the one who protected her. You stood up for her. To her you were the epitome of strength.
You looked at Jumin, one of the richest men in the country, and told him that he was being entitled with how much pointless work you gave Jaehee
You saw the woman who would work herself to the point of passing out, and you comforted her and showed her that she wasn’t alone
So when a customer began berating you for mixing up his drink with another customer’s (which you already apologized for and fixed), she was angry but not worried per se
You were the strongest person she knew
She would just give you a treat after he left, and you’d be fine
You could handle yourself.
“I just don’t understand! You have one fucking job- to make coffee and give it to customers. How do you mess that up?” His voice gradually raised in volume with every word
The anger in her body was building up with every word he said. She was debating before she heard a sniffle, and Jaehee turned around to see tears shining in your eyes
You took a deep breath and spoke in a low volume. “Sir...”
Oh hell no...
Her heart broke, releasing that anger throughout her body.
“Excuse me sir,” Jaehee said, standing next to you and putting her hands on the counter between you both and the customer
“What do you want?” he said
“You have absolutely no reason to be yelling at the employees here-”
“She-”
Jaehee’s glare seemed to get darker as she spoke over him. “She has already gotten you your correct drink. Offered you a refund. And apologized for the mistake. And even if she didn’t, there is no reason to yell.”
“This doesn’t concern you.”
“As one of the owners of this establishment, this absolutely concerns me. I will not tolerate a customer blatantly insulting someone in this premises. I have to ask you to leave, and you will not be served here in the future.”
He stared at the both of you for a moment before he threw the coffee cop on the ground and walked out of the cafe.
You grabbed one of the napkins and wiped at your eyes. “I’m really sorry, Jaehee,”
She pushed your hair out of your face and held your face in her hands. “You have nothing to be sorry for. It was a simple mistake, and you apologized,”
“No… for crying,” you sniffled. “I know I should be able to handle it-”
Jaehee shook her head. “No, you shouldn’t have to handle or deal with people yelling at you. And you won’t ever have to deal with it when I’m around, okay?”
“O-okay.”
Later that night, after the cafe was closed, she would have a better conversation with you. She wanted to know exactly what set you off, how she could help you calm down if it happened again, everything.
And she promised you -with her words and a kiss- she would never yell at you.
She knew you would protect her, but she would protect you too.
Your sensitivity was the reason why you were able to see the pain she was in, even through a screen
She would not let anyone use that sensitivity against you.
Zen
You were both really emotional
It’s what made Zen a good actor. It’s what made you able to understand people around you. It’s why you two were a good match, able to handle each other’s waxing and waning of moodiness.
But while your emotions made you cry, Zen’s emotions made him loud.
I mean, he was in a biker gang. He had to learn to be loud
He also had a bit of a jealousy problem. And he swore up and down that your coworker had been flirting with you at the company’s holiday party
He was pacing in the living room. Some of his hair was framing his face because he kept messing with his ponytail. You were sitting at the kitchen table, just tired as you watched him.
“Are you really telling me that you don’t know he’s into you?” he said. Zen’s voice rose in volume with every word, not quite yelling it but getting to it.
“Because he wasn’t, Zen. I wouldn’t let someone flirt with me, do you really think that low of me?”
“That’s not it! You’re missing the point here!” He shouted.
It was silent, save for his deep breaths. Zen was facing the wall, and he clenched his jaw.
“... I’ll just go home,” you said, voice croaking.
That made him turn around, and his eyes widened as he saw the tears shining in your eyes.
His feet and emotions turned 180 degrees.
“No, no, no, no,” he said as you stood up. He grabbed your wrists, trying to keep you from leaving. “Please, don’t leave. Let’s talk about this.”
“What’s there to talk about? You’ve already made up your mind,” you said, “And I’m not gonna sit here to just get yelled at,”
“I promise I won’t yell anymore. Please…”
You glared at him as you wiped at your eyes. “If you yell at me one more time, I’m out.”
“I promise I won’t.”
You sat down and talked through it- calmly this time. After you worked through the original fight, he had to ask. “Was it the yelling that made you cry?”
“I’ve always had a problem with yelling, even as a kid. Annoyed my parents to no end,” you said, already feeling the headache coming from the tears.
“I’ll work on that then. I won’t be the reason you cry. Never,” he said, “And you don’t have to hide your emotions from me, okay?”
You nodded, and tried to keep yourself from crying again because of how soft his eyes looked now. “Okay.”
“Good. Because I want to take care of my princess.” Zen smiled and kissed you.
The only reason he wanted you to cry was because of his amazing acting performance, never anything else.
Jumin
His father had a new fiance, and Jumin was in charge of the contract between C&R and her family’s company
How his father didn’t see the obvious motive in that… but the company wasn’t horrible, so Jumin decided to keep his mouth shut
That didn’t mean he was happy about it though…
Without realizing it, he was falling back into old habits
Jaehee was complaining more and more in the chatrooms about the workload, which Jumin was brushing off
He was leaving for the office earlier and earlier in the mornings. Coming home later in the evenings. He started bringing work home too, something he never did before.
You could probably count the hours that you guys were spending together on one hand. You knew he was busy with work and it was understandable that he would be distant
But… you needed Jumin.
You moved out of your crappy apartment with a faucet that always leaked even though you called maintenance about it at least every month into a penthouse where you could have everything taken care of with the snap of a finger
To say it was a lot would be the understatement of the fucking century
The only constant you had- the only thing that felt that home- was Jumin
Maybe you should do something? To make him feel loved?
So you told his personal chef to take the day off, you were cooking tonight
You went to the nearest grocery store, trying to not feel like everyone was staring at you when the bodyguards followed you in.
This grocery store was a lot more boujee than the one you went to as a kid (or an adult for that matter). One of the bodyguards could see you were just wandering down the aisles, so he took pity on you and led you to where the ingredients were.
You thanked him profusely before you began cooking in the kitchen, which also took you a bit longer to get a hang of.
Apparently rich people have different stoves… good to know
Finally you finished cooking dinner, right when Jumin got home. You assumed he would be home later than he said he would… and you were right
“Hi Jumin!” you said as he shut the door
“Hi, love,” he sighed as he kept walking, making a beeline for his home office
You followed him a couple of steps. “I made dinner! It was one of my favorites as a kid. I was wondering if you wanted to try it-”
“I’m really sorry. I have a lot of work to finish up tonight. I’ll be sure to try some tomorrow.” He turned around to kiss your forehead before walking into his office, shutting the door behind him. Not even sparing you a glance.
Your throat began burning as tears began shining in your eyes. Without a word, you walked to the living room and sat down on the couch. You covered your mouth as the tears fell.
Of course Jumin doesn’t want to spend time with you. You can’t even keep yourself from crying because you’re not getting attention. He didn’t even do anything! He didn’t yell. Didn’t snap at you. His emotions are always in check; he’s always rational.
Meow
Elizabeth jumped onto your lap, and you held her close to your chest as you wheezed for air. She kept meowing as she cuddled into your chest. “At least you want me around, Elizabeth,” you whispered.
“Why is Elizabeth meowing so much? It’s distracting” Jumin asked as he walked into the living room. His eyes widening a fraction of an inch when he saw your teary face
You looked Elizabeth in the eye. “Snitch.”
He frowned, sitting next to you. “Darling, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I’m just being overly emotional.” You said, pulling Elizabeth back into your chest. “It doesn’t matter.”
Jumin frowned and put his hand on your leg, squeezing it lightly. “You were able to empathize with my emotions. Ones that I didn’t even know I had, let alone articulate. Your strength is your emotions; a strength I can never replicate. Don’t dismiss your emotions, please. Especially not with me,”
Well now you were going to cry again.
You leaned closer, and he wrapped his arms around you. He rubbed your back as you let out the last of your tears, leaving an imprint of your wet cheeks on his button up
When you could finally breathe normally, you spoke up. “I went to the grocery store today- to buy things for dinner. And I was lost, but I didn’t want to ask a manager because the bodyguards were right there. And so Mr. Park ended up showing me where to go. And I come home, and it takes me half an hour to just figure out how to work the stove because there are so many knobs that do nothing, and god damn they don’t even say what temperature you’re heating up to clearly! And then I taste the food, and it tastes nothing like how it did as a kid because the ingredients aren’t the generic brand.”
“May I ask where this is going?” Jumin furrowed his eyebrows.
“I changed everything about my life to the point where making my favorite meal isn’t normal for me anymore,” you said, and he frowned. “Don’t get me wrong. I know that’s part of the Jumin Han package, but it’s only worth it if I’m getting Jumin Han too”
“What do you mean?”
“We’ve had dinner together twice this month,” you answered, “I wasn’t raised to handle this. I can only handle this if I have you. I can’t do it otherwise,”
Jumin frowned. He kissed you slowly, making sure to savor the feeling of your lips against his. When was the last time he kissed you like this? He couldn’t remember.
“I’m sorry, love.”
“I know you’re busy-”
“Still. I can’t imagine my life without you. I should be treating you as such. And I promise I will be doing better from now on.”
You spend the night eating dinner and relaxing in the living room.
After that night, Jumin makes sure that you both get to eat dinner at least twice a week. Nights where you both just focus on each other, and there’s no work.
(Sidenote: Jumin’s new work-life balance trickles down to Jaehee, and she swears she would give you her first born if you ask for it because of this)
Saeran
Being an ex-cult member came with a lot of challenges
He had made a lot of progress. The anger and aggression he had mostly subdued as he got help, and he was proud of himself (first time he had ever felt that). He even had a job now; something he had never even dreamed of.
But today he had like three customers scream at him. One of them even doing it in front of his manager, meaning he got an extra lecture.
Saeran decided to walk home from work instead of taking the bus, seeing it as a way to burn off some steam and avoiding a confrontation with a stranger.
He groaned as he got home and took his shoes off before he heard the TV show pause.
Shit.
He forgot today was your day off.
He went to rush into your bedroom, avoiding the living room you were sitting in, but you followed him in with a smile, wanting to talk to your boyfriend. “Hi Saeran. How was work?”
Saeran clenched his jaw. His immediate reaction to scream. Instead he clenched his fists. He couldn’t yell at you. He couldn’t lose his temper with you. He couldn’t.
“Rough day.”
He sat on the bed, and you frowned from the other side of the bed.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” you asked, voice soft.
He rested his elbows on his knees, dropping his face into his hands. His hands were shaking already. “I think I need to be alone right now.”
“Okay… if you change your mind I’ll be in the liv-”
“For the love of god, would you shut up?” he yelled, not even sure where it came from himself, “I already told you to leave me alone, so could you fucking listen for once in your life?”
It was silent, save for your deep breathing. You turned around, shutting the door behind you.
He felt nauseous.
You were incredibly patient with him, almost more patient than Saeyoung. You didn’t ask for a lot. You just told him that you couldn’t handle yelling, never had, and you probably never will. It always made you scared.
You didn’t outright tell him not to yell at you, but he figured out that’s what you meant when you said it quietly to him one night.
And he promised himself he would never do that to you. Saeran put you through enough already; he couldn’t scare you now.
Saeran took a shaky breath. His body both tense and loose at the same time. He couldn’t relax, but he also wasn’t in control of his body.
He sat on the bed for who knows how long before he stood up, ready to apologize.
The TV was still paused in the same time as before, and you weren’t in the living room.
His heart began racing.
What if you left? Were you safe? Did you leave him? Did he ruin this in the matter of minutes?
Saeran’s hands gripped onto the cushions of the couch as anxiety took over his body.
Then he heard a sniffle and a gasp coming from the bathroom. It was clear what you were doing. He felt both worse and better.
Saeran knocked on the bathroom door, and the whispering noises somehow got quieter. “Can I come in?”
Your voice croaked. “It’s open.”
His heart tightened as he opened the door. Your eyes were puffy and red. Tears still attached to your eyelashes. “...Hi” you muttered, refusing to look at him, instead focused on the towel in your lap. You must have used that to muffle yourself.
“I- I’m sorry. I was trying to keep myself from yelling, but I lost control when I shouldn’t have. I know I shouldn’t have. I’m so sorry…”
You nodded, still refusing to look at him. He wanted to hug you. Pull you in, rub your back, stroke your hair and promise you that it would never happen again. But he had promised himself that it would never happen in the first place before.
You were always the one comforting him. This was the first time he had done it for you, made even worse that he was the reason you needed to be comforted.
You let out a whimper and wiped away your oncoming tears. “Yelling just scares me and hearing it from you-”
Saeran stepped towards you, grabbing your shoulder and pulling you against his torso. You could feel how tense he was; you were practically leaning against a wooden plank. He was really trying.
“I… I promise I’ll try better next time. I don’t like you being scared of me or seeing you like this and knowing it was me. It won’t happen again,”
You looked up at him, and he patted your head on instinct. You furrowed your eyebrows, too confused to really be scared anymore.
If anything was gonna make Saeran seem less scary, it was gonna be his concerned eyes as he struggled to comfort you. “You’re trying right now, huh?”
“I am. And I promise I’ll try harder.”
“Can I have a kiss?”
He leaned down and kissed you. “Do you want to go watch TV? So I can make it up to you.”
You nodded and as you cuddled into his side, holding onto his hand tightly, Saeran pulled out his phone.
He wrote out an email to his therapist:
Can we move up my appointment?
He was gonna try better. He wouldn’t do this again.
V
January 26th… The week of their anniversary
Or at least it would’ve been
Don’t get it twisted. He loved you. More than he had ever loved anyone else before. He would never trade his experiences with you for her.
But it was the week of their anniversary.
That Sunday was supposed to be their wedding date.
Monday was explainable.
People just want their alone time sometimes
So was Tuesday…
And Wednesday… sort of
But four days of your boyfriend that you lived with not talking to you?
That was not alright
You made more of an effort Friday, hoping that if you pushed him for a conversation, he would speak up about whatever was bothering him
You both had been home for about five hours now. You had tried starting a conversation about ten different times.
You couldn’t anymore.
If you talked again, your voice would probably crack. So you went into the bathroom, cried it out, and went to bed early.
Both you and V were praying for this week to end.
Sunday was their anniversary, and V told himself that everything would be normal afterwards.
But Saturday was your breaking point
When V left for rehearsal, you got your phone, dialed Seven’s number, and sat down on your bed.
“Hey ho! What’s up, MC?”
Does Seven even know?... “Has V told you anything this week?”
“What?” Seven asked, and you could hear him shuffling around on the other end. “Is something wrong?”
Shit you were already crying. You wiped at your nose and sniffled to clear it. “N-Nothing. He’s just been really quiet this past week, so I was worried.”
“Quiet?”
“Yeah, he hasn’t really talked to me at all really,” you confessed. Hating that your tears were running down your face. Holding in your emotions was like trying to stop a tsunami with a spoon. Your voice cracked, and you hoped that Seven was dumb enough -just this once- to just let it slide. “I was just wondering if he talked to you about anything that I should be worried about.”
“MC, are you crying?” he asked.
“Is that a yes or no, Seven?”
“MC-”
“Seven!” you snapped back before covering your mouth to keep any sounds from escaping. “I’m sorry for yelling. But has he?”
“No…”
“Okay, thanks for talking to me though. I hope you have a nice day.” You heard him try to say your name, but you hung up before he could finish. He called a couple more times, but you ignored it.
You cleaned yourself up and went to work
Your chest was heavy when you got home, and V cleared his throat as you took off your shoes
“Hi,” you said, “Have you picked what to have for dinner?”
He stared at you for a moment with furrowed eyebrows. “Uh… I was stuck between the Chinese place and pizza place.”
“I’m good with either.”
It was silent for a few moments as you went through the mail, avoiding looking at him. “I talked with Luciel today.”
There it was…
“Can we talk?”
You nodded and sat down at the table.
You spoke up before he could. “Why have you been distant this week?”
“My anniversary and expectant wedding date with Rika is Sunday,” V explained, “I was reminded of her, and my first instinct was to distance myself again.”
You wanted to be mad at him, but you understood it. “Are you okay?”
“I’m… getting better. I wouldn’t say I’m good, but better than the beginning of this week,” V said
You took a deep breath, hating the burning in your throat as tears appeared in your eyes. “You could’ve just said that, and I wouldn’t have pushed you to talk more about it,” you breathed out and wiped at your face, “I thought…”
He furrowed his eyebrows and grabbed your hand. “You thought what?”
“Sometimes I worry that you’re only with me because I was conveniently there when you were going through everything,” you confessed. And he felt his chest tighten. “So when you did pull away from me, even though it was just for a moment… I was scared.... I was scared that you realized that too,”
He leaned over and kissed you, tasting the salt from your tears. “I promise, I love with all my heart. I appreciate that you were there for me, and I cared about you then. But I’ve fallen in love with you a little bit every day, over and over and over again since then,”
You smiled at him as crying took over again, and you wrapped your arms around his neck. He held you as tears wet his shirt, rubbing your back as you did. “I love you,” you said into his neck, the words garbled.
“I love you too,” V whispered. “And I’ll remind you of that everyday if I need to.”
Saeyoung
Saeran was hurting right now. Saeyoung knew that. He was just scared. It was scary to be in the mental health ward. To be away from Mint Eye, all he knew for years.
But when Saeran yelled at him… That he abandoned his brother. He hurt everyone around him. That Saeran was better dead than with his brother.
That Saeyoung didn’t deserve love. The only thing he was good at was corrupting people.
… It was hard to not let it sink in.
Because Saeran was just saying everything Saeyoung had told himself before.
So Saeyoung was silent as he drove home. You and Vanderwood were working today, so he was silent as he cooked dinner.
And he was silent when you came home. Only saying hi and that dinner was done before grabbing his plate and eating at his desk.
There was a pit in your stomach as you followed him. “Is something wrong?”
“No.”
“Then why are you avoiding me?” you asked.
“God. Why are you even still here?” he snapped, turning to look at you. His eyes weren’t even angry just… empty. “You had your party. Mint Eye is gone. The agency isn’t after me… so why are you still here?”
And then he turned around to face his screen again.
That pit in your stomach had traveled all across your body. And god was it heavy.
Your throat burned.
The walls were closing in on you.
And there was Seven. Just sitting at his desk typing.
You wrapped your arms around you. Making yourself smaller, as if that would save you from the suffocation.
You were just frozen. Slowly you stepped out of your shared room and walked to the front door.
Silent, just like he was, you stepped outside.
As if the fresh air was caffeine, your body woke up, letting the tears run down your face.
You stumbled into the lawn outside and sat down, letting the damp grass cool your burning skin. You covered your mouth as you sobbed.
Over and over again. Sobs and whimpers, muffled by your hand, would rack your body. You would finally calm down and take a deep breath. And the coldness would burn your throat and set you off again.
A headache echoed in your head as you laid on the grass, staring up at the stars. Finally too exhausted to keep up the crying. They reminded you of Saeyoung.
Fuck him for ruining stars for you.
“What the hell are you doing, kid?” Vanderwood asked as he crouched next to your laying body.
“Looking at the stars.” Your voice was raspy, barely there after your meltdown.
“Are you okay?” they asked as they sat down next to you. “It’s late, ya know? It’s not safe out here.”
“I’m not going inside.”
“Hey-”
“Thanks for your concern.”
With a huff, they stood up, and you heard the security questions before the door opened. It shut. Crickets.
The door opened again. And someone sat next to you with a sigh. You’d recognize that cologne anywhere. You pulled your knees up to your chest and wrapped your arms around them, refusing to look at him.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things.”
“It’s not even what you said. It’s how you said it,” you responded, still avoiding his gaze. “It was like we were back in that fucking apartment.”
“What?”
“I was back in that fucking apartment. There was a bomb, a kidnapper, and you refused to even look at me. Everything was out of control. I felt like the exact same bomb was in the bunker back there. It was just happening around me- to me. All I could do was just wait. Just sit there waiting!”
Unlike before, where he didn’t want to say, now he couldn’t speak. What was he going to say? Was there something he could say?
You were so calm the entire time you were at the apartment. Crying only after Saeran broke in. At least the only time he saw. How many times did you cry when he wasn’t looking? He thought he was the only one freaking out because you seemed to only be focused on him.
But you couldn’t control the bomb. Couldn’t stop Saeran. Stop Rika. Couldn’t even tell the RFA the truth.
But you wanted to help him. That was the only thing you could do.
Seven didn’t see the panic attacks in the shower. Or you crying into your pillow.
“I can’t do this again Seven. I can handle all of it. But not this. I can’t just sit here and watch you do this all over again. Over and over and over again! I can’t-” You sobbed, and Seven pulled you into his chest.
He shut his eyes to keep his own tears from falling. Your back rose up and down as you gasped for air, his shirt becoming wet.
Seven rubbed your back slowly and kissed the top of your head. You pulled away; your eyes finally dry. “I won’t push you away again. I promise I won’t cut you out.”
“Saeyoung…” you mumbled.
“No. I mean it,” he said. “I’ll do whatever it takes. I won’t shut you out again. I won’t make you go through that again.”
He looked you in the eye with a smile that disappeared for a moment. “I promise, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Do you want to stay out here or go inside?”
“I want to stay out here a little longer.”
“That’s fine.” He held your hand as you laid out on the grass again

Kait Reacts To The AE 3/?
Hi! These reactions are written out every time a Chatroom opens and it’s done over the course of the day. So, you’re watching me react in real time as it is for me. So, Spoilers AHOY. Expect Another post like this tomorrow, there is just too many chats to put it all in one post. So, hey, if you click this, you’re opening yourself to spoilers, you make the choice.
[19:11 + Visual Novel]
Okay, oh boy. Saeran made a chatroom that’s safe for us. That was really fast in a short amount of time so I’m always awed at how fast and he and Saeyoung are able to make progress and work because it’s so... quick. It almost seems like it should be impossible when they work. So, he did it. Though, now that that has been done, he admits that we need to talk about what’s coming now. He wants to find out what he can.
There’s no choice.
We have to see this through and we have to find Saeyoung. He’s not going to run in without thinking and that’s my boy. He knows what we’re doing here and how risky it could be. I knew that we were going to go with him because of the passport package, that literally implied that either we were going to have a time for a honeymoon by the end of this route, or we were going to travel with the RFA to find Saeyoung, or Saeran and the player traveling.
That was easy to surmise!
That being said, I feel like I should point how the fusion of Suit Saeran and Ray as he becomes Saeray or GE Saeran. He’s not quite both of them pushed into one place and he’s not quite one or the other, he’s own person with the past and experiences of those two. So, he has the memories of both to draw back on and see when he wants to know. They both had different memories and experiences so when they came together, those personalities met and united.
I won’t lie, it warms my heart when Saeran says that my heart warmed his and helped him. He did that for me and he doesn’t even know it.
What strikes me as odd here is the fact that everyone keeps saying over and over that we, the player, are the reason that things are the way that they are. I don’t know, it feels like Reset Theory to me or them breaking the fourth wall for some reason. I’m not controlling everything, as far as they know, so maybe they just are being modest.
I don’t know, it’s a theme that keeps persisting and bugging me as I’m playing because: I’m not the one that broke free of the control and manipulation, Saeran, you did that yourself. I may have helped you see it but you decided and did that. I appreciate them noting that I helped along the way but I’m just MC. I’m just here for the ride. Is that tone bothering anyone else?
Anyways, as I expected, Saeran asked us to come with him. I note that there is a parallel to Seven’s Bad Ending. You can tell him that you want to leave and never look back at anyone. That likely leads to a Bad Ending but I’m not going to click that. The goal here is to be a peacekeeper and a middleman who is also concise and blunt.
Although, Saeran is a little intense here. I hope he knows that I’d die for him just as fast as he’d die for me.
Anyways, the novel jumps over to Saeyoung at the last second. He is awake again. The Boss says: “You’re awake. Now, let’s wait and see if your knight will make it in time by the end of the day.”
Okay, that’s not good.
Oh, and you receive a phone call after this! It’s from Jumin’s Dad. My god, I got a call from Driver Kim after the 4PM chat, but I never thought I would speak to Jumin’s Dad. Chairman is curious... too curious. He wants to know more about what happened with V. Somehow... he knows that V used the smoke bomb and that made me confused. Did Saeran say something about V? How can he know? And, this man called me from Zen’s phone!
It didn’t have a lock.
Zen hates modern technology.
I wasn’t going to tell Chairman Han about Rika, or anything. He isn’t sure why V did what he did. I told him to ask Jumin. I know his dad worries about Jumin for real but I’m not gonna spill the beans. We can’t do that. He does sound like he does care even though we know he and Jumin are strained. So, I can’t fault him for that but one my biggest questions is: How did V know the agency? Was his dad involved?
The agency is told to us by Saeran to be one that is a big ring... the biggest in the world. So... rich people would use it. Did Jumin’s dad get involved in that or even Jihyun’s dad? is that how?
He also says that he is a bit jealous of ours and Saeran’s love.
Tells us about his forlorn love-life.
He wishes that we can find Saeyoung, at least. Oh, and remember the Agency saying that they were going to slander the RFA and C&R? Yeah, this is already in motion.
AND THAT’S NOT ALL. SAEYOUNG CHOI. NO. I know you don’t want us to come because it’s a trap but... I’m so worried about you honey. I’m so worried about you right now. I know he can survive hell. He didn’t sleep, eat, or drink for three days on the HBC mission. But... this isn’t good. He can access the safe chat, too. It’s just Saeran, myself, and him. But... what about the agency?
[20:44]
While I do love being able to see young Saeran... I don’t like the context of why Rika is doing this. So, Saeran comes into the chatroom. We talk about his time at the cathedral. He makes it clear that... he feels complicated about his mother, yes, she was a monster to him, but that was his only family at the time. He didn’t have Saeyoung. He didn’t want to lose that last connection. He said that every person at the church was nice to him.
But, he never saw Rika or Jihyun as a mother or father. Just people looking out for him. In all honesty, I really never wanted Saeran to have to talk to Rika ever again. I hated that he was going to have to go through this again because that last talk with her on day 10 was perfect. He spoke his peace and said she would never have power over him again.
Rika’s point here... I’m not sure. She feels like they were a family, like they were close and happy. She clearly wants to rip the rug from under Saeran and bring him down again. She tries to bring up his mother, bring up family, try to guilt him into this. Guilt him into leaving alone. I don’t like it. Rika wants to make herself feel better about what happened.
She doesn’t even... It’s all about how she phrases this. It’s all about, “What about me? What about ME? What am I supposed to do to be a good parent?” Ma’am, you lost that right. You don’t get to ask that to him. You don’t get to be his mother or claim him. He’s not an object. He’s not toy. He’s a person with feelings and he won’t be spun by you.
I appreciate how Saeran can just... ignore her. I respect that. I trust that. I am so proud of him for ignoring and not giving into her whims. That takes a lot of real strength with real abusers. It’s not easy. I’m proud of that. Now here’s where the game tries to smack the fuck out of me and I don’t know what to think about how they are phrasing it.
Okay, so, now she’s claiming that she’s split into fragments as well. I’m not going to comment on her mental health here. Your actions are not excused no matter what you may suffer from. Own up to what you do, learn, grow, change, but do not expect people to forgive you or make up with you. You are owed nothing at all when you do bad things. And, even with DID, the actions as the system as a whole come together. One action puts everyone at risk. So, even if she suffers from a form of DID/OSDD, they better not being try to say that she’s excused because “Devil Did It.”
That’s not how this works.
Suit Saeran admitted he fucked up. He took responsibility. Ray admits he made a lot of mistakes. He owns up to it. Everyone in the system takes responsibility for what happens. That’s just how it works. So, I don’t know what Rika is trying to do but... trying to make Saeran think they’re the same isn’t right. It’s just back to gaslighting.
Trying to trick him.
Even if I’m utterly wrong about Rika, this isn’t how you behave. In Rika Behind Story, they try to say Mika is at fault too, but Mika only helped Rika go through with it, and when Mika died, Rika kept doing it. She could have stopped and she didn’t. She made the drugs. Stole money to make her cult. ETC. Okay, she is in the wrong. She knows it. She admitted it. So, uh, Rika just stop talking you are giving me a headache. No matter how you spin it, ma’am, you’re wrong.
Anyways, we jump to the Visual Novel and now Saeran and myself are on the run here. We left the hospital and headed out. We’re going to the apartment. He said that V owned it. You can even say that you [used to live in this area]. This uh, Reset Theory fear I had earlier is starting to really scare me a lot. I don’t know if it’s a jest or...
I don’t know.
The agency has made their attack. Saeyoung made a deal with Chairman Han in the background. You can call him and talk to him and Driver Kim after this chat, so do that if you can. Chairman Han tells us that Saeyoung cared for the RFA and wanted to help support Jumin after he sold the rights to C&R for his drinks. He gets nothing. It was meant for children in need. But, the Agency is using the offers sent to C&R and Jaehee to blow things up.
Saeran knows that this is going to be bad.
We both know it’s about to get really bad. It’s going to be hard to fight this sort of thing. Why are so many of these options self-aware? Is this just me? Am I the only one with this issue?
Hm. Okay, so, Driver Kim gets to talk to us about Jumin. That man loves and cares for him and has been looking over him since he was a kid. He can’t believe V did what he did. He just can’t. He said V was cold before... he did photography, which makes a lot of sense to me. My God, I... it’s just a lot to take in. Don’t worry, Driver Kim is looking after Jumin and Jaehee.
I’m still iffy about Chairman Han. He has always... not been the best dad but I know in his own way he loves his son. Even if I don’t agree with the way that he shows his love.
THOUGHT I WAS DONE BUT OUT GOING CALL
I GET TO FEED HIM WHILE WE’RE DRIVING AND TORMENT HIM? IS THIS HEAVEN?
No but really... my self-aware paranoia...
[21:56]
So, this chat is a Rika and V chat. V sends us the passcode for the apartment to use. It seems strange enough... the title of the chat says that it’s supposed to be normal chit-chat, but it’s not. We know that. It’s just a deceptive factor used to go and trick you into thinking that things will be okay. Here’s the thing, this gives us a lot more insight into what’s happening with V and Rika. I knew what was going on to an extent.
This only further confirms that Rika is far too gone. It’s all about Rika, and what Rika feels and nothing else. There’s a few hints and teased at the Rika Behind Story and what she did with Mika in the apartment. V gave her the building, the entire thing. He owns the whole thing. That’s why... ah, there is a bomb. Nobody will die because it’s just an empty building.
Now, I can’t even imagine being the MC in the Casual/Deep Routes because you are literally alone in a high floor of an abandoned apartment building but you don’t know that. Oh, my God. She talks about how she make Mint Eye there and my God, the banter between Rika and V here...
God, there’s so much pettiness?
At the end of the day, we know that Jihyun feels himself a martyr. He wants to burn down with the building. He’s prepared to do it. He is prepared to suffer and weep and that is it. He’s taken that. He’s accepted Rika’s “devil” only because he knows nobody else can suffer if he takes her away. I don’t like that, and he does know that he’s wrong here.
But, we know... I guess, that he still cares.
Even if he’s willing to play the part of something that left them all behind and turned against them to suffer forever.
He says that Jumin and C&R will be doomed. It’s not good. They’re making more and more threats. They aren’t the ones that are doing this but they say that they are involved with the ones that did it. But, they are working with them by having that deal and honestly, that’s not okay. They both are ignoring it for their own reasons. I still think that Rika wants to have the boys killed for her own safety and to get away. I don’t know if that’s what will happen but she keeps saying it has to be Saeran alone, and Saeyoung alone.
I don’t trust that.
And, I won’t.
Either way, there’s a really short Visual Novel. We arrive there and it’s... quiet, and it’s not a good sign. I never thought that we’d be here again, but we are and I don’t know what to think. So, we’re going to try in the morning so... that’s a thought to be had.
FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST THE CALL AFTER THIS KILLED ME I CANNOT EVEN ENGLISH. HIGHLIGHTS CAUSE I CAN’T TALK RIGHT NOW ANYMORE.

Hiya Morgy! Hope you doing well! If Head cannons are still open, could I request the jojos with a s/o who has been having sensory overload a lot lately? (if you want me to clarify on what that is, let me know!)
This is v v late but I’m gonna try my best to portray this as well as I can!
Jonathan:
- At first is quite overwhelmed by YOUR own overwhelmed nature because he just??? doesn’t know what to do since it happened all of a sudden and he was never faced with something of that nature before??? Fret not though because as soon as your sensory overload happens, Jonathan being the wholesome gentleman that he is, will quickly pull you to the side and away from any other people as he’d gently whisper words of comfort and love whilst tightly holding you into his big, welcoming arms.
- Whether a crowd or other certain triggers made it happen, Jonathan will be sure to remove the source of your sensory overload as often as possible. After you calmed down and he lead you to a quiet place, the man would keep his tight yet comfortable grip around you as he’d ever so gently ask you questions about your triggers and such, afraid of coming off as forceful and uneducated which would be lowkey cute, especially because of the small blush adorning his cheeks the entirety of time.
- He’d keenly educate himself on the subject in order to be able to protect and care for you properly which would be pretty fuckin wholesome tbh. Soon enough Jonathan is going to not only remove you from a stressful situation when the need arises, but also quickly identify the symptoms of your overload, taking action immediately then proceeding to calm you down as he’d make you focus on other distractions all the while slowly stroking your hair and slowly speaking to you in a soft tone as to not alarm you further. Overall, one of your best picks because he’s invested, attentive and wholesome as f u c c.
Joseph:
- Fucking disaster who freaks the fuck out the first time it happens because he’s never had anyone around him go through sensory overload right before his very own eyes and so he assumes you’re under the attack of an enemy or something. But his dumbass immediately realizes that he’s done a g r a v e mistake once he sees you trying to get away from people and so he’s dashing towards you and helping you out in less than a second whilst erratically apologizing and cursing himself for being so unaware.
- That evening Joseph will be feeling highkey guilty, the man doing his best to calm you down and soothe your nerves by holding you into his arms, talking quietly and even massaging you since he’s heard that it does, in fact, help you out in cases like these. The entirety of time Joseph will be constantly apologizing and would STILL feel just a tiny bit of guilt even after you’d keep reassuring him that it’s ok. From that day on you’ll have his word that he’s going to properly educate himself on the matter.
- After that certain incident, you bet your ass that Joseph will be significantly more aware of you and your symptoms/triggers. As much of an airhead as he is, Joseph will quickly be able to identify said triggers and will constantly be on watch, pulling you close to him and covering your ears whenever you’d pass by certain loud noises or particularly noisy crowds. He’ll do his best to remove any stressful/triggering situation and if the sensory overload DOES happen again, your ever so caring boyfriend will quickly remove you from the situation then drop everything just to comfort and calm you down. 11/10 doesn’t move an inch unless he’s ABSOLUTELY sure you’re fine.
Jotaro:
- I believe he may or may not had gone through something like this at certain points in his life. Maybe not as severe as your case, though, but still. If anything I’d say he’s got high levels of anxiety going on so even the smallest of things can be a trigger. Now even if these 2 obviously aren’t the same, Jotaro will be able to tell that something was wrong the second you’d start trembling then covering your ears. Besides the fact that he’s h e l l a attentive and knows your tics and reactions to things in general.
- He’ll wordlessly pull you away whilst shielding you from anything that was bothering you then lead you to a quiet place as he’d proceed to comfort you to the best of his abilities. We all know he’s not the best with words, but Jotaro will make sure that you know he’s there for you and that he’ll help and protect you no matter what. The man will slowly but surely run his hands all over your back and hair in a comforting manner whilst slowly telling you to calm down and that he’s got your back at all times.
- And be 100% sure that he’ll instantly learn each and every single thing that triggered your sensory overload as well. His actions always speak louder than a thousands unsaid words and doing things such as looking out for you and learning your triggers is Jotaro’s own way of showing you that he loves and cares about you. You don’t like crowds and loud noises? Good, neither does he. Spending the day in as you enjoy eachother’s company is ideal in his opinion anyway. Bright lights bug you? Jotaro will replace them with weaker ones. Literally a n y t h i n g that helped you be safe and sound he’ll do it in a heartbeat.
Josuke:
- Definitely heard of sensory overload before but hasn’t experienced it or had anyone around him experience it before, so he WILL panic but quickly pull himself together the next second and quite literally drag you by the hand away from whatever was bothering you. He’s definitely the fussy type when it comes to his close ones so you better expect him to entirely refuse to let you go from his arms no matter how many times you protest that you’ve fully calmed down,
- Educates himself on the matter further so he can meticulously prevent any other incidents in the future. Ngl Josuke will be lowkey sad to hear that you’ve been going through such tough times recently, which is why he’d quickly offer to give you lots of distractions and fun things to do if that meant you’d have lesser chances of going into sensory overload. And let me tell you, even if he’s the extroverted kind, Josuke will even go out significantly less if you were to be triggered by crowds/loud noises.
- He’ll do his best to distract you by putting on your favorite shows, bringing you plenty of snacks, dimming the lights and even speaking in a softer tone. His voice is usually booming and loud so he’d hate to cause you any further distress, like don’t even get me s t a r t e d on just how fuckin awful he’d feel if he were to accidentally trigger you by mistake. Hence why he’d try being as supportive and careful as possible, quickly removing you from stressful situations and providing you with care and comfort at all times. And god forbid if anyone ever purposefully triggers you, Josuke will literally obliterate them and send them flying into the damn sun.
Giorno:
- Your second best pick after Jonathan because this man is literally z e n. He tries eliminating each and every source of stress and anxiety from his life (which is funny considering what he does and in which environments he spends his time usualy) and you bet your ass that he’ll do the same for you. The first time he sees you covering your ears and wincing he instantly knows what’s wrong, the man ever so gently pulling you to the side whilst reassuring you that everything will be fine and that he’s there for you.
- Even if it wasn’t his fault for not knowing at first, Giorno will still feel a little guilty for not being careful enough as to prevent your sensory overload and will work his ass off in order to do so in the future. My mans literally brings out the meditation, massage and calming music. Hell, he’ll even sing/hum something in order to calm you down because let me tell you, he’s got an a n g e l i c voice but he’s just too shy to show it off in the beginning. But the second you tell him that his singing calms you down Giorno will literally do it whenever he can in order to get you to calm down.
- You can count on him 25/8 because not only is he gonna punch any asshole that tries triggering you on purpose, but he’ll educate everyone around him as to not stress you further by mistake and is actually pretty fuckin amazing at getting you to calm down after another episode. Giorno will be quick to make you some calming tea as he’d dim all the lights and speak quietly, holding and cuddling you for literal hours if that meant you’d be feeling better. May or may not go to Bruno for further advice and other methods to calm you down because that man is zen 2.0

I recently picked Mystic Messenger back up, and combined with my P5R brainrot, it gave me a crack crossover idea that just won’t leave me alone:
AU where Rika and V are Takuto’s parents.
Okay, hear me out for a second.
(Bear in mind that it’s been a year since I last played Mystic Messenger and I haven’t seen all the endings yet -- I haven’t played Rika’s Before Story or V’s After -- so this might not make any sense in canon and the characterization might be all over the place. Then again, it’s a crack AU, so…)
Major spoilers for both Mystic Messenger and Persona 5 Royal under the read more!
The beginning is fairly obvious. Rika and V are an inseparable couple, they get engaged, she gets pregnant. But then The Mint Eye thing happens.
Rika considers getting rid of the baby just because it’s V’s, but deep down she still has feelings for him. Plus, having a baby in the cult is like getting a new believer but without all the purifying process, right? So she keeps the child.
Rika treats Takuto similarly to how she treats MC: she’s strangely kind to him, she mostly keeps him away from the other believers, and she doesn’t force him to take the elixir or anything. She already sees Takuto as being purified, because he’s just a toddler, so no need for all those painful rituals; she just needs to raise him the way she wants. Of course, since he’s the savior’s son, all of the believers think he’s like Baby Jesus, so no one bothers him.
You know what happens then. Canon happens. I’m not sure what route and what ending would fit this, but it needs to be a route where they go to Mint Eye and save Saeran. Maybe V’s Normal Ending? I don’t know, I can’t remember if Saeran survives in that ending. Well, let’s assume he does because I need that for my sanity.
And if he doesn’t, then I don’t care tHIS IS A FIX-IT AU.
please let me have this.
So, anyways, they infiltrate Mint Eye, they save Saeran, and they find Takuto. Given that V has been infiltrating the Mint Eye for a while, he already knows about him, and by now he has figured out that that must be his child. Either way, they get him away from the cult before any “cleansing” can take place, and V and MC commit to taking care of him.
Takuto starts off as a very anxious kid, which is normal considering that a bunch of strangers suddenly took him away from his mother and everything he has ever known. He mainly sticks with Saeran (which isn’t good for either of them), but, over time, MC gets him to open up to her and V and, eventually, to the rest of the RFA. Of course, Rika already drilled her ideas of “true paradise” and “eternal happiness” into him, so V and MC take it upon themselves to decondition him and reeducate him. Their efforts pay off, as Takuto eventually manages to adjust to normal society fairly well, but you know that those cultish ideas will still linger in the back of his mind, even if he doesn’t realize it.
Though his memories of Mint Eye completely fade away with age, Takuto inherits V’s gentleness and self-sacrificial tendencies and Rika’s madness and obsession with eradicating pain. When he’s mature enough, he also learns about what happened around that time (but maybe he doesn’t have all the details), because V and MC are determined to not keep any more harmful secrets like they used to.
Anyways, growing up with the RFA fuels Takuto’s natural passion for helping people. Yoosung introduces him to cooking, Jaehee teaches him her work ethic, Saeyoung transfers him his love of cats and animals in general (which is why, in Takuto’s words, “they don’t seem to share the sentiment”), and Zen constantly reminds him to never give up his dreams, no matter how crazy they might seem. He tells him about how he ran away from home to pursue his dream career and has never regretted it since, which Takuto takes very seriously.
As for Jumin, Takuto thinks that he’s too cold-hearted, but he looks up to him for his managerial talent and admires the bond that he shares with his father. When V and MC are away from home, Jumin offers to babysit Takuto for them, so he gets many exclusive tours of C&R, where he starts dreaming of growing up to work on a project much larger than himself with experts in the field (read: leading a team of researchers and having his very own lab).
Takuto also sees that Saeyoung and Saeran are getting along well and slowly overcoming their trauma together, so he comes to believe that everyone can change for the better, and thus, that everyone deserves a second chance, regardless of the mistakes they’ve made in the past. This will come into play at least two times: First, in his reality, when he lets Akechi and most of the Palace Owners roam free; and, second, when he decides to turn his own life around after the change of heart.
Anyways, Takuto meets Rumi, begins dating her, graduates high school, goes to college, and gets engaged after a few years.
V has always felt uneasy about Takuto dating. He knows that Takuto is too nice for his own good, so a part of him is afraid that he’ll end up in an obsessive relationship like the one he had with Rika. But, when Takuto introduces Rumi to his family, he and MC can tell that she’s supportive, well-adjusted, and considerate of Takuto’s feelings, so they are happy for both of them.
And then the burglary thing happens.
Takuto closes himself off from friends and family, overcome with grief and guilt. He still keeps in contact with the RFA, but it’s only because he knows that they will only get more worried if he stops talking to them altogether. Everyone at RFA is concerned, but V especially so, because he understands the pain of losing your fiancée and blaming yourself for not being able to do something to help her, and he doesn’t want Takuto to deal with it on his own.
After Takuto rewrites Rumi’s memories, he tells the RFA the same thing he tells everyone: he and Rumi broke up and it was his fault. This isn’t the RFA’s first rodeo, so most of them can tell that he’s hiding something, but they’ve known him for a long time, they know he’s a good person, and they basically raised him, so they decide to trust him (for the most part).
Takuto isolates himself more and more, acting like he’s fine to avoid being a burden, convinced that he must solve his problems by himself, like his father does. V and MC can see where this is going, and the former keeps spamming the messenger, practically begging Takuto to give him a call and talk to him, or at least get some therapy. But Takuto insists that he’s okay, that he doesn’t want them to worry about him, and that he just hasn’t contacted them much because he’s busy with work.
V starts blaming himself for being unable to reach out to his son, but, when he realizes that Takuto got his self-blaming habit from him, and only blames himself further.
As for the other RFA members, Jumin thinks that Takuto needs time to grieve and that, if he doesn’t want to accept their help, there’s nothing they can do about it. Jaehee is disheartened but she reluctantly agrees, hoping that Takuto will go back to normal soon. Zen thinks that they should be doing more for him, and that, if they put enough effort into it, he will come around.
Yoosung might revert back to his old ways and question V on why he isn’t doing enough to help his own son. Seeing as Takuto is his cousin and everything he has left of Rika, I’m sure he's very protective of him...
Once they all get worried enough, Saeyoung tracks down Takuto with his hacking skills, but he doesn’t find anything suspicious, so they decide to respect his privacy. After all, V doesn’t want to get too obsessive and repeat the mistakes he made with Rika, so he decides to listen to Jumin’s advice and give Takuto some space, hoping he’s making the right choice.
Meanwhile, Takuto figures out that Shido is behind the conspiracy that took away his research, which only strengthens his resolve to keep everything a secret from the RFA. Shido is too similar to the Choi twins’ father, and Takuto is afraid that, if Saeyoung hears about this, he won’t let it go, which could bring back some awful memories from his childhood and the Mint Eye thing… Especially considering that Akechi is in a similar position to Saeran, except that, you know, at least his mother wasn’t deliberately cruel to him.
A lot of the sympathy that Takuto feels towards Akechi comes from his experience with the Choi twins. He can deduce that he’s being manipulated by Shido like how Saeran was manipulated by Rika, so he wants to save him just like how V saved the twins. That also applies to the Yoshizawa twins, since the two of them promised to always be together in pursuit of their dream, but Sumire was the “weaker” of the two and was secretly envious of Kasumi. All in all, the similarities are everywhere, which might, consciously or subconsciously, affect the way Takuto interacts with the PTs.
In any case, Takuto just wants to protect the PTs from the same kind of trauma that the RFA went through. But -- he isn’t like Rika, or so he tells himself. He’s convinced that his methods are right because they can save everyone without causing any more suffering. He’s pretty sure he’s sane (he’s not). Besides, Rika’s dream was originally pretty noble, so it should be fine as long as he doesn’t start drugging people, right?
(He will retraumatize them, hold them hostage, and brainwash them, though, because he doesn’t see it as such)
The third semester comes along. I’m sure you also know what happens here. Takuto gets a god complex, the PTs fight him, defeat him, steal his treasure, and they destroy his perfect reality.
After the change of heart, Takuto is crushed, so he goes back to V and MC and confesses the whole truth through tears. He profusely apologizes, fully aware of how he retraumatized all of the Phantom Thieves to guide them to ‘salvation’, not unlike what Rika did to the members of Mint Eye, and he takes responsibility, knowing that he should’ve asked for help much sooner.
V and MC are shocked and heartbroken, faced with the fact that their son suffered so much that he fell into insanity and no one even noticed. They feel as if, with all the trauma that the RFA has already gone through, they should’ve seen the warning signs, and they should’ve tried harder to help Takuto heal… but they know from experience there’s no guarantee that that would’ve solved anything, so it’s pointless to dwell in what-ifs.
V and MC listen to Takuto’s explanation. They don’t understand any of the cognitive psience stuff and they are sure that he’s delusional because of the whole reality thing, but they comfort him to the best of their abilities. MC tells Takuto that he’s not like Rika and that he can always make up for his past mistakes, while V assures him that it wasn’t his fault and that, if someone like V could get back on his feet after everything that happened with the Mint Eye, Takuto can do it too.
Takuto takes their advice to heart, choosing to leave counseling, seek therapy, and make amends with his former patients. The RFA supports him while he gets his life together (but Jumin didn’t teach him how to drive, of course… oh god please tell me Jumin didn’t teach him how to drive), and he begins (continues?) to volunteer for the association’s charity events, so that he can keep helping people in need. That’s around the time when the P5R ending happens.
And… yep. That’s pretty much it.
Bonus points if Takuto ends up introducing the RFA to the PTs and they all become a big, happy found family. Jaehee and Akiren can bond over coffee making, Yoosung and Ryuji can bond over games, Zen and Ann can bond over acting and modelling, Jumin and Makoto can bond over being robots, V and Yusuke can bond over art, Saeyoung and Futaba can bond over memes and hacking, Ray and Haru can bond over flowers, and Saeran and Akechi can bond over their hatred of their fathers, haha.
Anyways, this crack AU became way more serious and more wholesome than originally intended... Now I actually want this to be a thing, haha.

To Release #3
Jaehee needs to let MC go.
Years ago, I had asked the amazing @promiscuous-jalapeno to write a HC for me when I was too scared to write my own and she did an amazing job- tore me right up it did. I asked her shortly thereafter if she minded if I tried to do it and she was kind enough to encourage me. Nearly 4 years and I’ve finally done it.
Trigger warnings: Character death, mentions of blood and aneurysm.
This is for my friend, my sister- Susana. I don’t know how to let you go. But one day I will. And one day I will see you again. Rest well until then dear one.
This is for my baby, my puppy Meiko- run free my little one. I know you’ll be waiting for me too. Keep Susana company and keep her safe until we catch up, okay? Good Boy.
- It was just a routine check-up.
- It was the bane of her existence so of course she delayed it as far as possible because she hated doing it.
- But Jaehee wouldn’t relent when she found out the last time she had a pap smear was over six years ago.
- In amidst all the “I can’t believe you’ve been so irresponsible” or “You have to look after yourself” and “What were you doing before you started dating me?” she didn’t fail to hear what her girlfriend was truly saying, I love you and I want you to love yourself as much as I do.
- Which, if she was being honest was half the reason she stayed away from those little metal contraptions of pain was because she loved herself… but she was arguing semantics with herself and that wouldn’t get her anywhere. Or get her girlfriend to stop prodding her to go and get it done.
- So, Jaehee stopped nagging and just booked her in for an appointment.
- MC could still remember the instant rage she felt at hearing her just make a choice for her, especially when it came to her own body. Yes she understood that Jaehee had done it coming from a place of good and only with the purest of intents- but it still pissed of her off to no end. She almost threw the dough she was kneading right in her pretty face. “Jaehee, I’m not a child-”
“Well you’re certainly acting like it.” “Urgh! Stop it! I know that I needed to get tested but I wanted to do this in my own time, with my own doctors and-”
“I booked it in with your doctor.” “That’s not the point!” “We can reschedule the appointments to later if you wish.” “Yes! I will reschedule the… wait… appointments?” “Of course, our appointments. You don’t think I would ask you to do something you’re so obviously worried alone would you?” she asked wiping the sweat on her upper lip on the back of her arm, completely focused on finishing up the cleaning of the kitchen. Jaehee waited for a moment to see if she would answer before continuing with a disbelieving shake of her head. “You know me better than that. I may have booked you in without your knowledge but I was never going to force you into going. I just wanted to kick you into action is all. Your health is important to me. “… I know.” “I love you.”
“I know.” “That and no-one else makes cinnamon rolls as good as you can.”
“Ha, damn straight they don’t.”
- At the very least when MC finally lay there ready to be examined, with her hands fisted under her ass and legs embarrassingly spread flush against the bed, she was comforted by Jaehee’s soft caresses of her shoulder and her kind, encouraging words whispered into her ear- MC knew she was not alone. A favour she fully intended to repay once her girlfriend replaced her to be the one who was prodded and poked.
- It was over within 15 minutes for the both of them.
- She didn’t even know why she had kept putting it off. Yes it was awkward and uncomfortable but for the peace of mind it gave to Jaehee and the irreplaceable smile it drew upon her face, she’d do it again in a heartbeat. Well. In the next three years at least.
- Life went much back to normal, day in and out at the coffee shop and then back home with her… she couldn’t ask for much more than that.
- She had all but forgotten about the test until she got a call three days later. She remembered her doctor’s voice on the other line asking if she wanted to come in and the instead dread that filled her veins at her tone. Why would they call if it was all normal? Why would they ask to speak face to face if it wasn’t serious? MC couldn’t recall exactly what she said but she knew it was in the lines of “just put me out of my misery.”
- But she couldn’t.
- She said they results were inconclusive and abnormal results didn’t necessarily mean the worst, however further testing needed to be done.
- Fine. More horrible tests. She could deal with that. She could. It was going to be fine.
- MC had delayed telling Jaehee, she didn’t know how to tell her. Whenever she rehearsed it in her head it always sounded like she was already saying her goodbyes and the last thing she wanted was to give her a coronary because she misspoke.
- It was only until the night before her next scheduled test that she finally gave in and told her. Just blurting it out without any preamble because no matter how she said it, her fear coloured her words.
- Jaehee… took it very well.
- Surprisingly well.
- She sat there for a couple of minutes, eyes fluttering for a moment before blinking rapidly, as if her brain was catching up and processing everything MC had just said to her. “So… at the moment they aren’t sure what it is and need to do further tests to make sure they can treat whatever it is you may have properly, is that correct?” she asked clasping her hands together in a way that reminded MC of Jumin after Saeyoung and Yoosung had just told him that they took Elizabeth the Third to the wrong groomers and they had shaved off all her fur bar her head and tail- like he was trying to figure out how to fix their mistake but also find a way to kick their asses. Jaehee may not want to kick her ass but it was as if she was attempting to already plan how to fix this all for her… and most likely disappointed in her for not telling her sooner. “I’m sorry okay?” MC sulked, pressing her palms against the top of her thighs, fingers scrunched in the fabric of her dress. “I know I messed up by not telling you sooner I just… I didn’t know how to. I don’t even know what to think at the moment.”
- Jaehee reached over, her dainty fingers curling around her own and giving them a reassuring squeeze. MC peered up from her lap and into her partner’s large eyes and returned her tentative smile. “Don’t apologise, I get it. I totally do. I’m not mad. You didn’t mess up- I just want to make sure I have all the details I need to help you. I’m coming to this a little later than you so I’m catching up and-” “Planning?” “Ah… yes. Yes I guess I am. Take the girl out of the Assistant role, but you can’t take the Assistant out of the girl.”
- MC could understand that. Everyone reacted things differently and if Jaehee needed to gather information and plan for all possible contingencies then she would not deny her that. Herself- she much preferred to wallow and stress because that was all she could do.
- Physical exam, Biopsy, Biopsy, Bloods and Physical exam, Imaging…
- She was really getting over seeing her doctors and sitting in waiting rooms. Getting real sick of Jaehee calling off sick with her to sit with her at every appointment and asking all the questions she should be asking herself.
- It was two weeks later after all the tests had come back, her hand in Jaehee’s, sat in two worn and uncomfortable armchairs that she received the news she had been dreading to hear. Stage 3. Spread to lymph nodes. Was Asymptomatic. Aggressive treatment for aggressive growth. Immediately. Shit. Shit.
- She could feel the squeeze of Jaehee’s hand tighten with each moment that passed. MC glanced to the side to see a calm veneer painted upon her girlfriend’s face as she nodded along with whatever the doctor was saying, interjecting whenever appropriate to ask more questions or to clarify something she may have misunderstood.
- MC on the other hand could barely talk, she believed she may have thanked the doctor and agreed to seeing them for a follow up and to start their treatment regime. She remembered picking up her bag and apologising to someone she ran into getting off the elevator. Recalled the feel of the cheap leather on the backseat of the taxi under her hands as she slid herself over to make room for Jaehee.
- After moments of silence, Jaehee cleared her throat and looked out the window. “Um.. what did you want for lunch?”
- And then she cried. Cried for her anxiety and her fear, cried for her frustration and her exhaustion, cried for herself and for Jaehee. She didn’t care that the driver kept looking up in his rear-view mirror to gawk at the sobbing mess she had become; all she could handle was the immense weight of what she was to face and the feel of her girlfriend’s hand slip into her own, the familiar feeling loosening up the shackles that were constricting her chest just that little bit. It was her turn to squeeze Jaehee’s hand.
- Being at hospital sucked. Like… s u c k e d.
- She hated that her friends couldn’t see her because they were afraid she’d get sicker and that Jaehee was taking even more time away from work to be with her. She was tired all the time and the room wouldn’t stop spinning, food tasted funny and she was just bored. MC was so used to running around from dawn till dusk, she was always talking to people and baking and laughing and… God, when was the last time she really laughed?
- … When was the last time Jaehee had laughed?
- She was always so calm and understanding it wanted to make her scream sometimes. But she kept quiet because… she just didn’t have any words.
- The surgery and first course of treatment went well enough that the doctors were happy for her to leave. Even though she was being wheeled out, it felt like she was dancing. She was never so happy to see the crowded streets and being stuck in a traffic jam. It was so much better than sitting in a hospital bed feeling sorry for herself.
- It was also better than watching Jaehee pouring over different journals and websites to better prepare of what may come in regards to her illness and other treatments which could help progress her rehabilitation. Or so she thought it would be, if the woman ever stopped.
- Jaehee was no longer working, putting more and more responsibility on the assistant manager than she should have been. No more.
- “Jaehee?” she called out from the sofa to her at the dining table, the woman looking so tiny amongst all the books that were open and the loose pieces of paper strewn about everywhere with her scribbled notes. Jaehee pushed up her glasses, something she hadn’t worn in the longest time and turned to face her. “Can we go to the coffee shop please? I’m really over just staying here doing nothing but watching daytime soaps. I can literally feel my brain rotting.”
Jaehee frowned and sat up, wincing as she stretched out the knotted muscles of her lower back and craning her neck side to side, loud cracks resounding in the air. “MC,” she began, the disapproval in her tone more than evident. “I don’t think that’s a great idea, you’re stabilised sure, but why should we take more risks than necessary?” she posed as she spun her body to completely face her.
- MC took in the sight of her. Hair pulled back into a messy bun, fingerprints all over the lenses on her glasses; clothes rumpled with a coffee stain down her front from where she accidentally spilled it on herself earlier that morning as she multi-tasked between balancing the shop’s books and researching if there were any homeopathic remedies that would help with her aches and pains to work alongside her prescribed drugs. Jaehee was burning herself out and if she didn’t take care of herself soon, the next time they’d be in hospital would be for her and there was no way she’d allow Jaehee to get that sick and drained ever again. She made that promise when she first joined the RFA and not this illness- not even Jaehee herself- would make her break her promise.
- “You took a risk on me and that paid off. You took a risk on the business with me… and that’s paid off… can’t you trust me about this again? It’s barely a risk at all. Just me in the corner with a book as you work.” She could see Jaehee’s resolve weaken as she gave her the best rendition of puppy eyes she could muster. Her beleaguered girlfriend pulled off her glasses and untied her hair, running her fingers through them as she let out a long, deep groan. “You’ll be the death of me, you know that right?” she grinned, the mirth not quite reaching her sleep deprived eyes.
- It took a while but they both learned how to adjust to their new normal. It took a little bit longer to get ready each day, making sure they had the right concoction of pills to last her until they made it back home and packing things like blankets, extra pillows or scarves to ensure her comfort at their cafe.
- MC had tried multiple spots within their quaint little shop, however trying to find a location that was both comfortable and in the direct line of vision of her lovely girlfriend proved difficult. This chair was too hard. That chair too soft. This chair she couldn’t see Jaehee except for a tuft of hair- until finally, on their fifth day and a lot of back pain later, she sat in the large wingback chair by the window, just to the left of the register. Jaehee would began to place a reserved sign there so no one could take the seat away from her beloved MC.
- Jaehee was grateful that they could spend time together like this, even if it meant just stealing looks at MC every so often whenever she got the chance. At night they would come home and curl up on the couch, both wrapped up in a quilt with a cup of tea in their hands as they watched whatever movie played on the TV. It didn’t matter because she never paid attention to it, she focused on the feel of the woman’s body beside her.
- Because it felt right to have her next to her.
- Because it felt right to hear her muted laughter, or how she sometimes slurped her tea near the end of the cup or just to hear the breath go in and out of her.
- … and because she knew all those things were beginning to fade.
- Although she had not succumbed to any of the viruses that had been around during the winter season, she grew more lethargic, her once healthy body slowly diminishing in size and strength; the beat of her heart strained under the hand she pressed against her sleeping girlfriend’s chest at night to make sure she was still with her.
- She had done that every night since they received the diagnosis. Every night.
- But she held it together, she had to. She had to do it for MC, to show her that she didn’t have to worry about anything besides getting better. It didn’t matter if she was being torn apart inside, or if she was falling behind in her work at the shop, that she never slept anymore or wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and pretend this was just one long nightmare. It was for MC. She had to keep it together for MC.
- She had gotten worse. There was… it had spread too much… too aggressive… too fast. It was all too much and again, MC accepted it all, no words to say.
- That was when Jaehee decided upon the only correct plan moving forward.
- She spoke to Jumin. He had agreed to buy the shop from her on the proviso that when MC was better that she buy it back from him and continue on as per normal.
- That night, at home with a tub of ice cream, sitting alone on the floor of her living room did she allow herself a moment of weakness. From one tear free-falling from her eye to another, she allowed them to pool into the melting confection resting between her thighs. She had tried her best to stem the flow, reminding herself of the responsibilities she had and not to wallow but now that she allowed the dam of emotions open there was no stopping it. Jaehee bit down on her bottom lip and muffled cries eked through her teeth, racking breaths rattling through her chest as she dug the heels of her palms into her eyes- praying for her treacherous eyes to stop, just stop. Please.
- … Someone.
- Please make this all stop.
- Jaehee had fallen asleep slumped over the coffee table, eyes sore and face puffy from crying and one hand sticky from having been submerged in thawed ice cream for half the night.
- That was how MC found her, comforter wrapped around her like an adorable sleepy handroll. “Baby, did you sleep here all night? Is everything alright?” she asked her, the concern plain on her face. Jaehee fought with herself to not let her thoughts transfer to her expression, of course nothing was alright, it hadn’t been alright for a long time. However Jaehee was a fighter and so was MC, she would not admit defeat just yet.
“Oh yes, just a harder day at work than normal yesterday,” she lied as she slowly moved her way to stand up. MC grimaced at Jaehee’s sluggish and pained movements. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to come in yesterday and if that made you worry more. I’m much better today, I can go in-”
“That won’t be necessary we’re both staying home,” she replied matter-of-factly, side stepping around MC as she made her way to the kitchen to clean herself up. She heard the soft shuffles of MC’s feet patter behind her as well as a sound of confusion bubble within her throat. “Huh? What? No it’s fine, let me just clean up and we can go-” “We’re not. I sold the cafe.”
- MC nearly fell down at the revelation. “You what?” she asked, sleep hoarse voice breaking as she leaned against the wall for support, not trusting her knees to keep her standing. Jaehee wiped her hands on a nearby dish towel and sighed, not really in the mood to discuss anything without having caffeine in her body. “I sold the shop to Jumin. This way I can stay home with you and we can go to the all the doctors’ appointments together and try to figure this thing out step by step.” Jaehee flicked on the kettle and began preparing two cups, far too tired to brew anything so she reached for the instant coffee. “Jaehee-”
“Mm?”
“Stop.” “You don’t want coffee? Prefer tea?” “That’s not what I meant and you know it.” “I don’t understand-” “You need to get the cafe back from Jumin,” MC replied with more life in her voice than she had had for the last couple of weeks. Jaehee put down the teaspoon and braced herself against the countertop, head pressed against the cabinets lined along the wall. “You can’t stop living just because-” “Because you’re dying?” she yelled, not able to tear her eyes away from the spot on the wall. “I can’t change anything because you’ve resigned yourself to this without even a word for me? For yourself? How can you act like any of this isn’t driving you insane?! How can you stand there and just ask me to not do everything I can-”
- MC stepped forward and opened her arms, encompassing Jaehee into her quilt covered embrace, her arms holding her as tightly as she was able. “I know… I know. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I don’t have the words. That I have nothing to say about what is happening to me. I’m sorry that I left you to speak and ask and do everything for me and also expect you to think of yourself,” she pulled away to see Jaehee’s with misty eyes and cheeks splattered with red. Delicately placing a hand against her cheek, MC pressed a faint kiss to the tip of her nose and breathed in time with her. “I know you’re busy looking out for me… let me… while I still can… let me look out for you.”
- The shop was back in Jaehee’s name within the day.
- As difficult as it was, MC managed to make it into work with Jaehee. Even as the days passed and she grew weaker, she still mustered the strength to smile at everyone who would stop and talk to her. She would ask for the gossip from regulars who she had learned so much about over the years. Jaehee would take frequent breaks to check up on her and to ask if she needed anything. MC would always just smile and ask for a new book from the stack their staff would always add to. Her heart full whenever their employees would come up at the start of the day and drop off another non-descript book for her to read or doodle over.
- Some days were good, some days were… not good.
- More and more often Jaehee would look over from serving a customer and MC was fast asleep, clutching a book to her like a child with their teddy.
- Every passing day it took so much more out of her to get to her chair, to drink her coffee, to turn a page… to smile. To hide her pain. There were days she was so heavily medicated that Jaehee had begged for her to go back home or ‘for God’s sake please let me take you to the hospital!’
- MC would always snap out of it enough to shake her head and reply, “Sorry Jaehee, I’m up to a really good part of the story. I need to finish it.”
- Then one day she didn’t.
- She had closed up shop, luckily it was a quiet day so she made the executive decision to finish up early. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll be just a minute.” She was wiping down the last table just beside MC and looked over with a tired smile on her face, to see MC sleeping soundly- with her latest book on the ground. Jaehee could feel her heart leap up in the base of her throat, her breath stolen away in an instant. Slowly but steadily she walked over to MC, deliberately clicking her heels loudly against the floor to wake her. When she reached her chair she let her hand hover over her face to see if she could feel her warm breath against her palm. She pressed her cheek. Shook at her- her body completely limp as it sank against the armrest.
- Jaehee plummeted to her knees and dove into MC’s lap, the woman screaming into it as she allowed herself to cry, praying that her girlfriend would come back and lay her hands atop her head and run her fingers through her hair. To touch her, hold her, god damn it just- anything. Wiping her face against the blanket that rested upon MC’s legs, Jaehee hiccoughed and spluttered, not caring if any passer-by happened to see her on the floor in tears. She swiped at her face haphazardly, knowing that her skin would be red and irritated from her lack of care. Fighting to regain her breath that continued to elude her, lungs burning, eyes stinging, heart cold.
- On her hands and knees she moved to pick up the fallen book from the ground, eyes scanning for a title to see what were the last words that may have graced her consciousness.
“… I’m sorry I’ve left it to these pages Jaehee, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to say the words when you needed them. I may not have them still... but maybe you can find them now- somewhere in these last few diaries I have written for you. My thoughts. My fears. My dreams. My love for you.. Every hope. Every wish, It’s all here and all for you. The greatest part of my story. I love you.”
- Jaehee squeezed her eyes shut and wailed, her cries filling the largely empty space, echoing back to her. Sitting back onto her haunches she tried to steady herself as best as she could, clutching the book to her chest like she had seen MC do countless of times. Perhaps if she held it hard enough, it would start to resemble the way it felt to hold her- and if she pushed the realms of her imagination- the way it felt to be held.
- Jaehee couldn’t bring herself to read any of the 4 diaries MC had written. She couldn’t. She knew that MC meant them to be comforting, maybe even assist her in moving on- but she didn’t want to comforted, she didn’t want to move on. She had cordoned off MC’s chair and table, with a permanent ‘reserved’ sign to ensure no one would be able to sit where only she belonged. There, perched upon the table in a neat pile, were the books; gathering dust in between the weekly dusting that one of the staff members were tasked to do.
- That was until half a year later, when one of the regular’s children had slipped under the velvet rope and sat in the chair, the young girl picking up on of MC’s books and tried to read her beautiful, looping script. Jaehee had briefly looked up and had to double take, not even realising she had screamed out; scaring the child who shoved the book back into the pile of books frantically trying her best to not earn more of the “coffee-lady’s” ire. Her panicked efforts resulted in all the books falling to the ground- the loud thuds only punctuating the already silenced café.
The mother apologised to Jaehee feverishly, she had been speaking to her friend and didn’t realise that her daughter had wandered off- didn’t know the girl had gone to the place she had once spent so much time with MC just months before.
- Jaehee pinched the sides of her nose and waved off the apology, bending down to apologise for frightening the little girl who had helped to bring joy to her girlfriend’s last months. Even though her nerves were frazzled, she knew that MC would be clucking her tongue disapprovingly at her, something that oddly enough made her smile. She had been doing that more often lately. Smiling at something MC had said or done instead of collapsing into a despairing heap.
- Jaehee ran her hands along the arm of the chair and whispered her hellos and her apologies for letting someone disturb her spot before picking up the books off the ground. She went to reach for the last book which dropped open to a random page, the paper slightly crinkled from the fall. She could feel the tell-tale pin pricks in her nose and the corners of her eyes as her fingers cradled the back of its spine, balancing precariously on the curve of her fingers.
- There on the top of the page was the recipe for her famous cinnamon rolls, something Jaehee had tried her best to replicate again and again when her lover was alive to no avail. No one made them better than MC. Jaehee sniffed as she found herself sitting into the long abandoned chair as she tearfully read the secrets MC had left for her on the page. The brunette paused to see a small note in the corner: “The reason mine were better was because I always made them for you. Now please, keep making them for me.”
- Jaehee wiped the last remnants of her tears from her face and then nodded to herself. Moving to the kitchens she washed her hands and wrapped MC’s apron around her waist. Taking in a deep breath, she pushed up her sleeves and got to work.

Mystic Messenger - Cooking For MC (Headcanons)
--- Zen ---
He spent the last decade never having to cook, and instead relying on South Korea’s amazing take-out culture to survive. One only has to pay just a liiiitle bit extra when buying meals from convenience stores, or from specific take-out eateries.
But now he has a significant other! And he’s already made a big fuss about how he believes he’d ‘make a good husband’, so now it’s time to prove it. How hard can cooking be?
Unfortunately, Zen quickly realizes that making good meals demands more than throwing rice into the cooker and boiling some sweet potato leaves. Different types of meat from different animals and different cuts needed to be cooked differently, vegetables need to be washed and paired with the right heat and oil, not to mention knowing what spices go with what.
His cooking odyssey starts when the two of you began to get more domestic with each other, and he wanted to surprise you with a home-cooked evening meal rather than going out to eat like the two of you always did up to this point.
Good thing he started early in the afternoon, because his first attempt was a disaster. The catfish fillets kept flaking and getting stuck to the pan, the rice was way too soggy from being overwatered, and he accidentally seasoned the green beans with pickled plum powder instead of white pepper.
Googling saved his ass and he instead steamed the fish with ginger and scallions, fried the beans in sesame oil and garlic, and the rice came out fluffy. By the time you came home, you were greeted with a romantic home-cooked dinner for two. (He didn’t know to remove the stems from the green beans, though)
As time goes by, Zen really steps into that supposed ‘husband’ role and learns to cook properly. His meals are almost exclusively healthy options of whole grains and lean proteins, with no excess salt or oil.
--- Yoosung ---
He can cook! He’s a pretty good one, too. At least, compared to most other students. He doesn’t burn things, or over-salt them. But he never made complicated dishes, mostly due to a lack of time or energy. Still, he did enjoy making the occasional dish of omurice in his dorm. His plating tended to look a bit sloppy, but they always tasted fine.
Once you enter the picture, he finds himself daydreaming about cooking for you, and serving delicious meals over a candlelit home dinner with a sweet dessert to top it off. He imagined being a loving husband wearing an apron, peacefully tossing vegetables in a pan while you came behind him and wrapped your hands around his waist.
And then he’d turn to his pile of dirty dishes still sitting in the sink for the past four days and realize that he’d have to step up his game if he wanted to bring that fantasy to life. He may have the ability avoid food-poisoning in his dishes, but that’s not good enough for you!
So his renewed interest in life was largely spent re-focusing on his studies (while also spending his spare time with you), and after he finally got his diploma and began getting internships, he moved out of the dorm and into a real, actual apartment with a stove that had more than one burner! And also an oven!
When he started cooking for the both of you, he began simple; store bought tteokbokki and gochujang, and into which he’d chop scallions, onions, and clams - kinda like the Korean equivalent of boiling dried pasta, and adding your own ingredients to the store-bought jar of marinara sauce.
He got older and with age came a greater patience for homesteading. His dishes became more complicated, and also better! You always looked forward to the days when he’d cook. And he couldn’t help but brag sometimes about how good of a boyfriend he was, because of his abilities in the kitchen.
--- Jaehee ---
She grew up in a household that almost exclusively dined on home-cooked meals, so it was with great internal shame that she had to resort to take-out when she began working at C&R. Take-out can be filled with preservatives, sugar, and salt, not to mention the depressing image of eating off plastic trays all the time.
Before the two of you began living together, but after beginning plans of opening a cafe, Jaehee began cooking a lot more. She’d experiment with cafe recipes of sandwiches, baked goods, desserts, and artisanal coffees. You were her favorite taste-tester.
As the cafe managers, you and Jaehee don’t cook everything sold at the cafe, and most of it is too sweet or carb-filled for Jaehee to serve it at home. So she busted out her family’s old notecards (or, like many families, nobody ever wrote down classic Korean dishes on notecards so she had to call her parents to ask how to make sundubu jjigae) to serve to the both of you.
She truly believes in the value of home cooking. It’s so much healthier and wholesome. And being able to cook something for the both of you to sit down and enjoy is so domestic and peaceful.
You two manage the cafe takes up many days of the week, but usually not the whole day, so there’s time for at least one cooked meal at home every day. Sometimes you cook, but mostly she does. She missed the freedom of this particular creative expression.
Her favorites are replicas of dishes she grew up eating - hand-made dumplings, beef noodle soups, roast dakjjim, seaweed salads. Her mood is just so much better since leaving C&R, and she’s gotta believe that’s partially due to her improved diet. You being in the picture is another big part of it!
--- Jumin ---
Surprisingly, this pampered 1% CEO-in-line can indeed cook some specific dishes. Home-ec was part of his schooling, and he’d retained the lessons he’d learned to this day. During the first few days you stayed in his penthouse, he had made a stack of strawberry pancakes that tasted perfectly fluffy and sweet, almost mathematically calculated to maximize their pancake-ness.
And technically it was in fact calculated, since that’s how Jumin approaches cooking. Measurements are precise and exact, temperatures to the perfectly right point. Which is also why Jumin knows how to cook, like, four different dishes and nothing else. He was more interested in treating you to his private chef’s gourmet meals, and only wanted to cook when he thought a personal touch would be appreciated.
Pancakes were one of the recipes he learned in junior-high home economics. The other three were; beef stroganoff, frosted cinnamon rolls, and tteokguk. He can cook them to exact perfection ... which is, they don’t taste gourmet nor mind-blowingly fantastic, but instead ‘perfect’, with perfect temperature and perfect seasonings. Nothing more, nothing less.
He’s aware that he can’t cook something that has anything particular to offer. He’s always struggled with being creative, and his cooking is no different. It’s hard for him to deviate from established tried-and-true recipes. It’s even harder for him to tackle new ones.
Living with Jumin means little opportunity for him to cook. Or for you to cook, for that matter. If Jumin’s chef isn’t booked for the day, chances are the two of you are eating at some five-star restaurant. His penthouse does have a very fancy and equipped kitchen (is that a soda gun??) so one day you decided to encourage Jumin to exercise his creative skills a bit more.
With your help, he modified his pancake recipe for the waffle maker, and customized a fruit syrup using his gut feelings and not a written recipe. It came out fantastically and lovingly delicious. He was so happy to have created something special for once, and named the dish after you.
--- Saeyoung/707 ---
He never had any reason to cook before he met you. He lived off of a trash diet that only the nastiest of gamer geeks would stoop to. But when his life turned around and you entered the picture, he realized that he needed to clean up his act sooner or later.
You’ll almost certainly cook more than he ever will, but he’ll step up to the plate once and a while. “Seven, work today was brutal and I’ll be coming home late. Can you cook up something for the both of us?”
“Ah, never fear! I’ll make sure you’ll be fed something nourishing and delicious. Trust in your god 707!”
By ‘nourishing and delicious’ he meant pulling out a box of buchimgae mix, and frying it with sliced zucchini and onions before serving it with dipping sauce. He had to cheat and quickly buy a box of barbecue chicken wings to go with it.
It’s a simple and quick meal, but it tastes perfectly decent. And simple dishes are as far as he’s willing to go, ‘cause he never wants to make something gross and force you to eat it out of gratitude.
He has a list of easy recipes stored in his brain in case he’s assigned to cooking duty - ham fried rice, oven-roasted chicken legs, Japanese curry, anything that has less than five steps to complete. And he pays little attention to things like sugar and salt levels, so its no concern of his if a meal is less ‘healthy’ than another.
If you’re a cooker, he ends up absentmindedly copying your recipes and methods for when you need him to make meals, and he’s pretty good at backwards-engineering a dish to figure out how to make it himself.
In the beginning, he kept making weird noob mistakes in his cooking, like accidentally leaving the small stickers on the ginger root he’s boiling in the broth, and not knowing you should peel daikon before stewing it.
But he’s perfectly satisfied with the fact that he eventually settles into a position of ‘decent emergency housecook’. But he’ll always prefer to eat what you prepare for him UwU
--- Saeran ---
Back during Mint Eye, Ray had tried his best to make the most beautiful and delicious meals for you. And he mostly succeeded, carefully following recipes for marinated apricot pork, butternut squash ravioli, and lemongrass scallops the best he could.
It was a steep learning curve. He hadn’t really cooked before this point, so for your sake he decided to run before he knew how to walk. But he’s a smart dude, so his dishes always turned out pretty okay at the very least. He was so happy seeing you enjoy them.
So when Saeran settled in with you, he began cooking again. He found it therapeutic after a day spent hacking. Very quickly he started getting into even more complicated dishes just for fun; roast duck, elk medallions, fluffy angel food cake from scratch. Sometimes things failed, but mostly his dinners were something to look forward to.
He doesn’t cook a whole lot, and in the beginning he even skipped the meals you’d prepare for the both of them, because he’s depressed and sickly and it’s hard to summon up the appetite for regular breakfast and lunch. And even afterwards, he keeps odd hours which meant dinnertime might overlap with his work, leaving the job to you.
But the times where the two of you can actually sit down to a meal he’s made are some of the most peaceful and happiest moments of the day. He still loves caring for you, and creating food you truly enjoy is a particular source of love for him.
Surprisingly, he’s a lot less talented when it comes to baking. His cookies come out mealy and stiff, his cakes dense and eggy. Something about dedicating so much of the process to the oven just messes up his ability in the kitchen. Even though his stovetop cooking always turn out pretty freaking amazing, he can’t be trusted with desserts.
And unfortunately, he always hates cleaning up afterwards. It’s a pet peeve of his. Why can’t dishes ever wash themselves? He and his brother purchase like, two different dishwashers, and overclock them as well, so he can avoid washing dishes as much as he can.
--- Jihyun ---
A trustworthy cook, who loves to replicate recipes he’s tasted from abroad. But he can’t backwards engineer dishes like Saeyoung can, he has to rely on a recipe for most of the cooking process.
And it can be somewhat a struggle to find the proper ingredients for dishes he wants to make, such as fresh green cardamon for Tibetan lentil soup, or anchovy syrup for authentic Italian pizza. When you began living with Jihyun, the kitchen slowly became packed with foreign spices and ingredients. “Jihyun, what the heck is this thing I found in the freezer??” “It’s a pack of frozen chorizo I’m planning to make into a mash, put it back before it defrosts!”
Grocery shopping involves 40% of buying the essentials, and 60% of Jihyun walking up and down the isles, hunting for rare and obscure ingredients. If he finds something, he likes to excitedly drag you over and show off the hidden package of blue stilton cheese he managed to find, and talk about his memories of visiting the United Kingdom, and learning about how historical and special this cheese is.
Life as an established photographer means his work schedule is pretty irregular. Sometimes, he has huge stretches of days where he has nothing to do, and sometimes he’s got entire weeks in advance where his professional skills have been hired. Not to mention his own schedule involving traveling the world and finding new subjects to photograph. So the times when he can cook for the both of you are kinda unpredictable.
When he does, he always insists on cooking from a culture different from any recent meals you two have had. If it was American potato salad yesterday, its Moroccan tangia tonight. If yesterday’s lunch date was spent in a traditional Japanese cafe, then today’s home-cooked lunch is gonna be Swedish potato pancakes.
And of course, he takes pictures of his especially successful dishes, to put on his personal instagram. If he can get your hand, or other subtle pose in the shot, it makes him 300% happier.

The World Rests, The Heart Doesn’t
Read in on AO3
Fandom: Mystic Messenger Words: 2604 Pairing: 707/MC, but they’re not together really Spoilers for Seven’s route and After Endings ~It is a weird AU where MC resets consciously, Seven was her first love and remembers and the other “routes” were always only platonic~ Now please enjoy this as my first entry to the fandom and the first fic I’ve written in months!!!
Love is a nightmare.
Love is waking up at night in a cold bed. Realizing you’re alone once more.
Love is pain. It’s longing. It is looking at your phone and seeing her name. It is the wish to simply chat with her, joke around, be free… And then the realization that she doesn’t know, doesn’t remember, doesn’t care.
Love is trying to catch her gaze, but seeing her smile for one of your friends instead.
Love is losing your heart, because you can’t control it. It belongs to you.
Love is death, because she unknowingly smashes your heart over and over again.
“I beg thee, God Seven-Oh-Seven, help me escape the fires of this hell!” MC sang overly dramatic and draped her arm over his shoulders, the movement so casual and familiar. His golden eyes searched for hers, but they were closed as she gave him a big smile. Seven’s heart skipped a beat, but it wasn’t out of happiness.
Her smile seemed so fake. All of them did in this timeline.
What was going on inside of her head?
“I somehow find it heart to believe you really need my help. But don’t worry, my Six-Oh-Six! I, the Defender of Justice, will do anything you need!”
“Heh, thanks, but I don’t really need justice right now. I need an escape from Jumin nyan-nyan and Zen’s tears.”
Fair enough. Their second party together had ended half an hour ago, but the RFA had to stay afterwards and clean up. Needless to say, they had yet to even start doing so. Inviting a cat-girl fan club turned out to be a huge mistake (In Seven’s defense, he had offered it as a joke and never expected her to approve… he should have known better), for Jumin had somehow gotten his hands on fake cat ears, tail and paw-gloves and was currently teasing Zen. This Jumin was a rare sight to behold and usually Seven would be enjoying herself, secretly documenting the whole night on his phone and joining in on the fun. But now, he felt too out of place.
“Okay, my beautiful princess, what do you want to do then?” He asked.
“How do you feel about a night walk?”
“And ditch them all here before we’ve even started cleaning?” This didn’t really sound like her.
“I do feel bad about Jaehee,” MC admitted “but they’ll manage without us. Come!”
She took his hands without waiting for a response and pretty much dragged him towards the exit.
The night breeze was cool against his skin. It was a beautiful clear night and he cursed the city for its lights. The stars were probably fascinating view from the mountain. He wanted to see them.
Despite for MC’s previous excitement, they walked side by side in silence. She had put one of her hands in her pocket of her jacket, but the other somehow refused to let go of his.
Seven wanted to ask her a question or break a joke. He longed to hear her voice, but couldn’t bring himself to break the silence.
It felt warm and welcoming. Her soft breathing eased his nerves. It was familiar.
And he hated it.
For things were different this time. She wasn’t his. He wondered if she ever had been. That time seemed as nothing more than a faraway memory at this point. He still treasured those little quiet moments, had gotten used to being with her.
He had no right to feel this way. Being by her side, holding her hand, and letting their hearts beat to the same rhythm, as if trying to become one… He didn’t deserve any of it.
“Luciel” she rarely called him by that name. He hated the sound of it on her lips. “If you had the choice to save your friends but hurt the one you care about the most or make that one happy and let the others on their own… Which would you choose?”
Her voice sounded so weak and quiet. Why?
“I’m a god, remember? Of course I can save everyone and still be charming as hell while doing it!” He lifted his arm, striking an unconvincing superhero pose.
“Please, just answer.”
What? No retorts? No joke? Not their usual goofing around?
Seven sighed.
“I probably would chose protecting that one person I love the most.” Saeran’s face popped into his head. Every time they had gone back to that day, the first thing he would do was figure out how to get ahold of his brother. He would always find him and just as he was about to find a way to get him out of that hell, they would go back in time again. But every time when he did it, he was prepared to leave the RFA behind to safe Saeran. It was no question that he would chose Saeran over any other person. Perhaps even over MC.
And that was exactly one of the reasons he was so worried this time. Because… it was different. Not only had it passed three whole months and MC hadn’t fallen in love with anyone, but Seven couldn’t find Saeran no matter how hard he tried. He had already gone to Mint Eye, found his way into the building, spied for a total of four days without being noticed… And nothing. He saw Rika, she was there and out of her mind. But the hacker’s room was empty the whole time and everyone kept gossiping that Rika’s favorite puppet Ray had suddenly ran away. That must’ve been Saeran, he realized. But where had he gone?
MC breathed slowly in, then out. The sound brought him back to reality.
“Do you-“ she nervously switched her weigh from one leg to the other- “Do you think I made the right choice then?”
“What do you mean?” He asked, although he already had a suspicion. However, it was too good to be true.
“I sometimes feel as if what I did was wrong, although I doubt that I would’ve changed anything if I had the chance. Still, I need to tell you that I’m sorry, Saeyoung,” her shoulders trembled as a sob escaped her lips. Seven could do nothing but stare in disbelief. “I’m sorry for leaving you all that time ago.”
She remembered. She remembered all of it!
But then…
“Why did you leave me then? And-“ whether it was sadness, anger or jealousy that creeped its way into his voice at that moment, he couldn’t say- “how could you fall in love with everyone if you remembered all the times before?”
“I didn’t fall in love with them. I don’t know what it was like from your eyes, but nothing really happened between me and any of the RFA members. I just wanted to help them heal after all the pain that… Rika left behind.” Seven had a suspicion that “Rika” wasn’t what MC wanted to call her at first. “And besides that, they weren’t the reason I decided to go back in time again the first time. I never expected you to remember, though.”
It took a second for Seven to realize what she was telling him. So MC somehow had the power to go back in time? And she had never actually been together with anyone but him. That didn’t sound right, because she had looked so happy with everyone else… And yet, no matter how hard he tried, Seven couldn’t recall one time when she had kissed anyone else or stolen loving glances while she thought the others weren’t looking. She had wanted to help them heal and had succeeded. Now, even though none of them showed any indication of remembering the other timelines, they all seemed peaceful somehow. As if they subconsciously knew of their time together and had faced their fears and insecurities.
“Why are you telling me this now?” Seven asked.
“Because,” MC offered a sad smile, “I have no intention of ever going back again.”
“You said your reason at first wasn’t to help our friends. And there were two times different than the others… Two times were you never joined us. Are those things related?”
She seemed to shudder at whatever memory that question recalled. Then she nodded and breathed in. She was reading herself to respond, Seven realized.
“I loved you more than I had ever loved anyone, you know. But once I met your brother, I knew that there would always be someone more important to you than me. And honestly, I was okay with that.” Her eyes glittered with the memories of other times. “But months went by and he never got better. He only got worse, actually. I knew he loved you, but too much things had happened too fast. Losing Rika and then finding out that everything he believed in was a total lie, knowing that he was used, drugged and abused… And on top of that, the guilt of murdering V… It was too much for Saeran to bear he wasn’t able to heal from that. I knew that you would never be really happy this way, either. So I decided to give him another shot in life. The first time I “reset”, I declined joining the RFA and instead let him take me to Mint Eye. I had in mind to slowly reveal the truth to him. I wanted to make him trust me enough to agree meeting you and help him find his way. I wanted him to find out who he was on his own and finally come to terms with his past… But turns out he remembered, just like you did.” She gulped and stopped. It took a minute or two before she could speak again. “He wasn’t happy at all that “Saeyoung’s dog had come to ruin his life once more” and-and that was it.”
Seven knew there was more to it, but he also knew he shouldn’t pry more. It was obvious by the way her body tensed or how her gaze seemed unable to focus.
“But last time, I finally managed to talk to him! It was mainly pure luck that I bumped into Ray instead of Saeran,” she mumbled the last few words. Seven wasn’t exactly sure what he meant by that, so he made a mental note to ask later what exactly the deal with Ray and Saeran was.
“But I somehow managed to talk to him and get him to trust me. He turned out to be such an incredible person beneath all of that and he was actually the one who made me reset again. Wait, I want to show you something.”
She then took her phone out of her pocket and unlocked it with a few movements. Only when she let go of his hand to do so, did he realize that their arms had been linked during the whole conversation.
He was confused. The conversation had brought a new weight with it, one that was threating to beat him to the ground and make him fall, fall, fall. He felt angry and betrayed. When she had left him for the first time, it felt as if he was being left all alone. He felt unworthy of love and utterly useless, but at least he thought that she didn’t remember. Knowing she hadn’t left him on purpose gave him at least a drop of hope that he was still worthy of living and perhaps even worthy of her, if she went to all the trouble of really getting to know him again.
Now he knew better. Knowing she had indeed left him by choice broke him. But at the same time, she had done this for him and their friends, and for his brother. She had suffered as well, but for his sake. And realizing that she hadn’t let go of his hand during her confession brought a warm feeling to his heart that he had deemed long lost.
“Here,” she said and handed him her phone.
It was a private message in the RFA messenger, but with Unknown. His heart clenched at that.
“Please, read it,” MC said.
And so he did.
Unknown: I hacked the messenger, so here you go. Welcome to the RFA… again.
Now go get your man
And now that that’s done…
I’m leaving Mint Eye
Just as I promised.
MC…
Please don’t tell him yet. I’m still not ready to see him. But someday I will.
Thank you.
“But I still don’t understand. Why didn’t you tell me about all that when you joined us this time, three months ago? Or why are you telling me about Saeran, when he asked you not to?”
MC kicked a stone with the point of her shoe and watched it as it rolled down the pavement and on the street. She waiter for it to stop before speaking up.
“Perhaps it was selfish of me,” she explained, “but I was scared that you would get mad and never forgive me for consciously leaving you and prying into your and your brother’s lives when I had no right to. I avoided the truth in fear of you leaving me, which is kind of hypocritical considering the way I disappeared, but… I hoped that you wouldn’t be that disappointed in me if I reconnected you with Saeran right after that.”
Seven blinked in confusion. Before he could gather his thoughts to ask any of the questions he wanted, she put a finger to his lips and shook her head.
“Don’t ask any questions yet,” she almost begged, “Just wait with me in silence for a few minutes.”
At first he thought of ignoring her plea and ask her what was on his mind anyway. He wanted to know how she really felt towards him. He wondered why she was so scared when she had done all of this to help his brother and let them rebuild their family again. He longed to know what was going on with Saeran and what she had meant with that last bit.
But in the end he nodded and kept slowly walking at her side, their shoulders accidentally brushing against each other’s.
There was a motorcycle on the street, coming from in front of them. Seven paid it little to no attention. It was nothing out of the ordinary, after all. But MC’s eyes were glued to it and the moment it stopped right beside them (How the hell didn’t the driver fly out of his seat after stopping so suddenly from that speed?) did Seven realize why exactly that was.
“Hello, brother,” Saeran took off his helmet and offered a smile.
Saeyoung had a lot to figure out. He had to get to know Saeran and learn how to be a brother again. He had to figure out some things on his own, before offering himself to MC once more. There were many things left to learn, but at least he had already found out how to be Saeyoung again.
He was slowly learning one thing: the meaning of love.
For love is no pain and suffering. No nightmare.
Love is a dream. Love is a promise. Love is the goal of making someone happy, even if it means losing yourself.
Love is the gift of a warm smile, reserved only for you.
Love is the affection of your brother, even when hid behind salty remarks and grumpy sighs.
It is waking up and realizing that you’re not alone in the world.
Love is family.
If there is something Saeyoung knows that Seven never would, it is the meaning love.

Could you write rfa with an mc who has a lazy eye and is really insecure about it and almost always refuses to take their glasses off because people used to gawk at them and tease them as a child?
Zen knows what it's like to draw special attention from having a unique appearance. While he often likes to flatter himself and play up the role of a narcissist, he's insecure about his features. He grew up in a household that ridiculed him and shamed him for the red eyes and white hair that caught the attention of many, treating him like a monster and putting him down. So he will never pressure MC to take their glasses off, if that makes them comfortable. However, he will also smother MC in praises, like he does to himself. "You're so stunning," he'll whisper when they're alone, gently pulling the glasses down to give them a kiss on the forehead. "You and I are proof that God makes mistakes. He had to make us different because otherwise, our beauty would be too powerful for the world to handle."
Yoosung can't imagine why MC feels insecure. He doesn't really pay attention to those details. First and foremost, MC is someone he cares about, someone he enjoys being with and spending time with. While he's dense, he's no dummy. If he sees MC getting shy or anxious in public, he will hold their hand and encourage them to lean against me. "You can just look at me," he'd murmur. "Besides... I like it when you focus on me, anyway."
Jaehee isn't the type to get caught up in appearances. She had to cut her hair and adorn unnecessary glasses for her job at C&R, after all, and while she may miss her long locks, she knows they aren't the most important thing in life. Connection, fulfillment, and happiness are. MC gives her a reason to wake up in the morning and power through her day. But she is sensitive to the needs of others and can pick up on subtle changes. (You'd have to be perceptive to be able to work as Jumin Han's chief assistant.) So if she's in public with MC, she will always check up on them if they seem to get tense or shrink away from people. "We can go somewhere more secluded, if you want," she'll insist. "Although... If I were as wonderful as you, I would hold my chin up high."
Jumin genuinely does not care about such details. He'd take a mental note, if only as an identifying trait, and that would be the end of the story. He's not accustomed to being around uncertain people; growing up with his father, his father's many love interests, and teenage V, he's been surrounded by cocky, arrogant people who think they are almighty. He almost doesn't know how to handle it, but that works in MC's favor because it means Jumin is constantly checking in on them. "Are you alright? Is this too much? How can I assist?" He also has MC help in organizing their plans, wanting to maximize comfort and efficiency for both of them. "I apologize if this seems excessive, but my priority is your well-being."
707 is the type of person who dismisses all his insecurities and fears with humor. He wears the mask of a jokester so that nobody knows how much pain he holds inside. Therefore, his gut reaction is to lighten the mood. "Wait, we should switch glasses! Or get matching ones!" He wants to find ways to make MC have fun, to laugh so hard that they can forget their worries. But that doesn't mean he isn't sincere. At his core, Saeyoung Choi is a sentimental person, who loves so deeply he would sacrifice anything and everything to ensure his loved ones' happiness. "When you and I are together, nobody will look at us in disdain," he assures MC. "They will look at us in envy, focusing only on our smiles and wishing they could ever find the joy that we find in each other."

her idol - friend fic for jaehee and zen
-this version of the idol au is of my own creation, if you would like to see more please check out my account!-
TL;DR Jaehee learns how to respect Zen as an equal rather than a perfect being.
Jaehee has been a fan of Zen’s for a long time, whether it was following his group switches or watching as he improved. It was almost saesang behavior (saesang are obsessive fans who will do anything in there power to get attention from there idol) though she made sure to respect Zen’s boundaries and of course to never get overly obsessive. He was one of her inspirations to learn to dance, and its actually what got her the opportunity to train under C&R. So to learn that her one true idol was going to be in the same group as her made her heart race with anticipation. What would she say? Would she thank him for everything? Would that be weird as a co-member? Jaehee was in the training room sitting on the floor drinking water lost in her thoughts until it was interrupted.
“Hey you’re Jaehee right?- ah sorry should I call you Kang?” an all too familiar male voice said.
“I- no you can call me Jaehee!” She said as she spun around, overflowing with anxiety.
“Ah! Okay Jaehee, you can call me Zen. I just wanted to ask if you were a dancer or vocalist, and also how you were?”
“Oh I’m doing great actually, I love your work- oh and I’m the main dancer.” She said with a small awkward ‘heh’ afterwords.
“Well then~ you must be very talented! I might want to take some pointers from you” Zen responded a chuckle afterwords. “And I appreciate knowing that you’ve seen my previous works. I hope I’ve improved from where I began.”
Jaehee’s eyes sparkled and a wide smile appeared on her face “You really have! You’ve made your style more expressive and unique in your way of dancing- and especially in your voice! I think you could even make it as an actor!”
“Wow, Jaehee that is really nice of you to say!- though you don’t have to view me on such a high pedestal, I get that I’m talented among a wide regard but while i am great I’m still human. While I do see my self as a mistake made by god, since I am that handsome.”
Zen said with a striking a subtle pose “I am still human. I still make mistakes sometimes, as much as I hate it. I did some bad things when I was a kid, bad enough to get involved with the law. So I’m not perfect as a human being, and I’d like you to see me as an equal. We will be on a team after all, you’re free to keep watching my old work but just know you can be as talented as I am in regards to dancing.” he said finishing it off with a smile finally taking a breath.
Jaehee was in some form of shock. Her idolization of Zen had made her forget that he too, had feelings, problems and a past. She was quite disappointing in herself actually. Believing that Zen was the perfect being was preposterous, no one could be, no matter how hard they tried or seemed. The only reason she viewed and respected him so highly is because he had helped her through some of her toughest times looking for a suitable job and bringing her happiness when she was down, inspiring her in every way shape and form to do better because she could be better.
“I’m... I’m so sorry Zen... I just looked up to you for so long and I guess forgot that you were human too...” she bowed her head in both shame and apology. She felt a hand pushing her chin upwards, and looked up to see a smile of appreciation.
“Thank you for apologizing, though there was no need to as I saw it. Here how about this- how about we go to a coffee shop and just talk? So we can become friends, and maybe to show you I’m not all that perfect- as fabulous as I am~”
“That actually sounds nice... thank you Zen. Thank you for everything.”
------
Jaehee and Zen became great friends after that, talking about there views of other groups, their music, what they could do better on and just having fun talking about music. They also learned how to work together along with the other members of the group.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Woooah!! I actually made a finished piece! Fun fact I started writing this fic on a whim at 3am last night. I really wanted to make something with Zenny since I haven’t had any content regarding him on here, so I decided to make Jaehee and Zen’s first interaction! Since I wanted to make Zen a tiny bit different, he still is narcissistic but due to interactions with obsessive fans he didn’t want to portray himself as the perfect human being and show that he has some flaws too as much as he hates them.
Anyway I hope you enjoy!~ This was really fun to write! <3

Rfa + Minor Duo have a fight with a suicidal MC who has bad thoughts afterwards and tries to act on them but gets caught before she could do anything (TRIGGER WARNINGS, MENTION OF: Self harm, death, depression, suicide
Hiii! I hope I didn’t misunderstand you and wrote it the way you wanted. Please stay allert, trigger warnings! And please guys don’t give any hate, this is fictional and shows only a scene of the request! Now enjoy!
Jumin
You looked down as Jumin slipped angrily at his wine.
You were honestly sorry for what you did.
It wasn’t your purpose to embarrass him like that.
He muffled as he took a slip of his wine once again.
,,J-Jumin….I‘m sorry, it wasn’t my purpose to soak the best investor for C&R with wine….I simply….didn’t look.“ you tried to explain once again.
,,It’s humanly to make mistakes.“ he snapped.
Even through he said that, it seemed that he still couldn’t forgive you.
Your lips began to tremble….you tried to bite on them to stop the trembling, to not begin to sob in front of him.
None needs me. What’s the meaning of living if none loves me?
You questioned yourself as you observed your trembling hands.
Out of the blue you were interested if someone would cry over you.
Since Jumin decided to not talk to you, you decided to go away.
Forever.
You couldn’t bear it anymore, the man you loved would be better without you.
You opened the faucet as warm water filled the tub.
While the tub was getting filled you searched a for a blade and striped your clothes.
Your ugly shape made you remember that you never fitted for Jumin.
When the tub was full with enough water, you entered the warm paradise and turned it into hell.
You scratched your wrist as deep as possible as you grinned your teeth, it was more painful than you thought.
Because of the warm water you quickly lost conscious.
,,She‘s moving….“ a man‘s voice sobbed as he was holding your hands.
Somehow you were sure that Jumin was the one besides you.
And you were right, he was right by your side.
,,Jumin…what happened?“ you questioned him as you tried to get up a bit just to fail.
,,You…you tried to kill yourself, Mc….After almost two hours I wanted to use the bathroom and when I opened the door I found your bloody figure in the bath tub. It’s good that you never close yourself in……but why did you do it….?’’ he asked you, stroking your pale face.
,,I….I hated myself for arguing with you. I just wanted to die, to feel missed….’’ you told him and looked away.
Jumin however took your chin ans kissed your lips softly.
,,My love, you realize that we need help, right?’’ he asked you as his tears fell on your cheeks.
You nodded.
Zen
,,I WON’T FORGIVE YOU IF YOU DO IT!’’ you yelled at the white haired man as he signed a contract at your home.
,,THEN DON’T FORGIVE ME!’’ he yelled back and threw the pen away and glared at you.
His glare seemed to leave scars behind, your body began to tremble as your tears dripped on the floor.
,,HOW?! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!’’ you asked him while you looked at the contract.
Zen just signed a contract for a new manager and a trip to L.A for a year.
,,BECAUSE I NEED A NEW MANAGER IF I WANT TO GET FAMOUS IN L.A!! I WILL TAKE YOU WITH ME!’’ he yelled.
He was angry at you.
He thought that you would support him but it seemed that you were just interested in your own feelings.
You however felt the same as you saw him with the contract.
He was selling you out just to get to go to L.A.
,,I hate you.’’ you snapped in a silent voice, showing your boyfriend that you were disappointed.
You rushed on his balcony to keep crying at the fresh air.
Bad thoughts haunted you as you kept crying harder and harder.
,,I’m not worth it! I’m no good for him, I’m holding him back! Mc you’re such a bitch!’’ you sobbed and began to slapp yourself.
Your biggest wish right now was just to die.
You hated yourself more then ever and when you realized that the place was pretty high you got up.
As if you were in trace you climbed on the grid to stand a bit higher.
,,Good bye my love….’’ you mumbled to yourself while you tried to lean your body over the grid.
You were sure that you would die, fall down and crash on the place below you but Zen destroyed your plan.
With a strong pull you were between his arms on the cold floor.
His strong arms made it impossible for you to free yourself from his embrace.
His head was laying on your neck while you felt his warm tears.
,,Why…..?’’ he asked you and cried harder.
,,BECAUSE YOU WANTED TO LEAVE ME AND I THOUGHT I WAS HOLDING YOU BACK! I JUST WANTED TO DISAPPEAR!’’ you yelled as your tears soaked your own shirt.
,,DON’T DARE I LOVE YOU….!’’ Zen responded.
When the two of you finally calmed down and rushed in to not disturb the neighbors.
Zen destroyed his contract while he talked to your doctor.
He first wanted to make sure that you would get better.
Yoosung
,,RIKA RIKA RIKA! ARE YOU FUCKING BROKEN DISK?!’’ you yelled at your husband as you glared at him.
,,YOU’RE THE SAME BY THE WAY! YOU’RE ALWAYS REPEATING THAT I TALK ABOUT MY DEAD COUSIN!’’ he yelled back from a big distance.
You immediately stepped closer to him.
,,Don’t dare!’’ you snapped.
,,Oh please, don’t give me this kind of look! You will probably say that I never did anything for you. Don’t lie, Mc. Because we both know that in this marriage I’m the only one who’s in love!’’
,,WHAT?! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO YOURSELF?!’’ you asked him after you heard his idiotic words.
,,Come on! I even hurt myself for you!’’ he responded.
This was enough for you.
You couldn’t bear this anymore.
You could already imagine why he was thinking like this. You were out a lot these days.
But it wasn’t because you weren’t in love anymore but because you had regular check ups with your doctor.
You simply didn’t want to worry him but it seemed that this act of you made him loose his faith for you.
You decided to stop the play here and escaped the hell.
You just wanted to show him how much you loved him.
Behind your back you still heard him yelling to stay here but you ignored him.
Instead you wrote him a letter and decided to just shallow the whole ten portions of sleeping pills the doctor gave you.
You really hoped that these sleeping pills would bring the wished effect.
And your wish became real, or at least it felt so.
A few seconds later you woke up in a completely withe room with Yoosung by your side who was holding a pink paper in his hands, your letter.
,,Why are you crying?’’ you asked him.
His perplexed red eyes scared you a bit.
,,You know that if your cry a lot your eyes turn out red….’’ you mumbled and in the next moment you felt his warmth.
,,You slept for almost two days…..I was so worried that you would die on me, Mc….’’ he sobbed harder.
,,I’m sorry for what I did and said, it’s my fault, please don’t do this again….don’t try to kill yourself…..please!’’
Of course you realized that you had your faults too and that’s why you could become better, together with Yoosung and professional help.
Jaehee
You smelled the metallic odor as the razor cut your flesh.
Tears streamed down your face as you remembered the discussion you just had with your girlfriend.
It all happened because of a customer who was simply unhappy.
You knew that you still did your best but Jaehee and you kept on with your discussion until the both of you were yelling at each other.
,,I DON‘T UNDERSTAND HOW JUMIN COULD BE SAD BY LOSING YOU!“ you yelled and immediately regretted your words.
But not only you caused pain with your sharp words.
Jaehee made you feel unloved in that very moment and so it came that you decided to hurt yourself just to decide to die a few minutes later.
Although you couldn’t go on with your plan.
The young woman stopped you before you could cut your wrist.
Her tears dropped on your hands and got mixed with your blood while you soaked her hands.
Her sobbing noises was the only thing which filled the room.
With her trembling hands she tried to stop the blood.
,,I‘m sorry.“ she repeated over and over.
,,Me too…“ you mumbled before your head collapsed on her chest, resting on it for quite a while.
A few months later your suicidal thoughts almost completely disappeared.
Jaehee was still afraid leaving you on your own but you did your best to gain her trust back while undergoing treatment.
Saeyoung
,,I SWEAR TO GOD SAEYOUNG IT WASN’T ME!’’ you yelled as Saeyoung looked at his scratched car.
,,Are you kidding me? You’re the only one who’s allowed to drive my favorite car AND IT WASN’T ME SO IT’S YOU!’’ Saeyoung kept accusing you.
Your face turned red from the anger as your boyfriend kept accusing you.
,,It…wasn’t….me!’’ you repeated and turned away.
,,YES, JUST GO!’’ he yelled behind your back.
You slammed your door behind your back as you sat on your chair and began to cry loudly.
It really wasn’t you but your boyfriend wouldn’t trust you.
It made you so sad, none had really faith in you, right?
,,Why is it always me who get’s the pain and accusations?!’’ you groaned as you tried to stop sobbing.
You remembered about your past and realized that you were always the source of all problems.
Everyone kept blaming things on you.
With your boyfriend now nothing changed and so you came to a hurtful conclusion.
,,It’s my fault, so I will take the consequences.’’
It didn’t take long until you knotted a rope around the lamp.
While your trembling legs climbed on the chair you tried to knot the rope around your throat to finally stop this crazy circle.
Your boyfriend instead tried to find out if you were really lying.
While looking at the hidden videos in his garage he found out that Zen scratched the car while carrying his beer when he visited you guys.
,,Shit…I need to say sorry….’’ he mumbled and looked at the closed door.
Saeyoung waited a bit until he heard a thud.
An odd feeling overcame him as he approached the still closed door.
He pressed down the handle and looked at your shaking body.
Your body was hanging on a rope while your eyes flacked a while.
Saeyoung reacted in seconds, grabbing your legs to pick you up so that you could breath but everything seemed too late.
Support took incredebily long as Saeyoung cried for your life.
,,I’m sorry, I love you, I was wrong, forgive me…..please please please wake up and don’t die on me, please….’’
Saeran
Your relationship was wonderful, almost creepy if you look at the perfection.
The perfect couple, that’s what everyone else called you.
But you weren’t that perfect.
You weren’t that happy although with Saeran by your side this feeling got surpressed.
Just today your depression was hitting you a bit more.
And out of all days Saeran and you had to argue today.
By now you already forgot why you were angry at him.
Everything what you knew was that you were currently approaching the storming sea.
Your last strength let you go on as your feet touched the cold water.
Nothing mattered to you anymore, you just wanted to die.
Die, die alone, just to leave.
,,Ufff…’’ you gasped as you couldn’t feel the sand anymore.
Your legs gave up, you just couldn’t swim anymore as your body got heavy.
Your head slowly dissapeared and your lungs got filled with the salty water.
So, this is your end, isn’t it? You thought as you closed your eyes.
,,MC! MC! MMMMMCCCC!’’ someone called you.
You however were unable to response to this voice.
,,HAAAAAAAAHUUUUU!’’ you puked as your head was exposed to the cold air.
Someone dragged you out of the water as you kept throwing up salty water.
,,MC! OI MC!’’ someone called you over and over as you tried to breath.
The sand got all over your body as you tried to open your eyes.
,,Don’t die here….’’ Saeran cried as he massaged your heart.
,,I…want to….die….’’ you chocked again before he breaked down on your chest.
Jihyun
,,Are you kidding me?’’ you asked him as he calmly looked at you.
,,No, I’m not.’’ he answered as he looked at the chats.
,,You were simply wrong that’s why I defended Yoosung instead of you.’’ your husband explained.
,,Are you sure that you were definding Yoosung and not Rika?!’’ you snapped at him as you tried to read out his expression.
,,Yes, I’m sure. Why are you always talking about Rika?’’ he answered and asked you at the same time.
,,Because you still love her after everything she did?!’’ you responded and looked away.
,,That’s not true-‚‘’ he tried to explain but you stopped him.
,,Ah, then please explain to me what Yoosung said that he deserves your acknowledge.’’ you laughed.
Just like you expected he was unable to answer you, making you leave.
He didn’t even call you.
You slammed the door and began to curse everything.
,,DAMN YOU!’’ you yelled.
You weren’t like this.
You actually decided to forgive Rika for everything but this time Jihyun just crossed the line.
He left your heart broken, your eyes looked at the outsied in trance as you thought about your relationship.
It wasn’t that great like you imagined.
It wasn’t what you thought it would be like.
Maybe you should just end everything?
Everything…..
You didn’t think that you were actually that brave to just stab yourself with the knife you found.
Bad thought haunted you as you closed your eyes and tried to kill yourself just to feel a strong hindrance.
When you opened your eyes Jihyun was holding the blade.
His scared eyes made you shriek back.
His blood was dripping on the floor as he let go of the knife.
,,Mc…..’’ he mumbled, approached you and began to painfully cry with you.

Finding your feet again.. {Zen x mc}
Part II of "The Penthouse"
Takes place in Jumin's route, so spoilers, sweetie~
Teen - Swearing
2090-ish Words
Warnings: mentions of anxiety, mental health
~{This is my headcanon "bad-story ending" for Jumin's route, where you {the mc} leave the penthouse with Zen}~
~*~*~*~ Jumin's side of things ~*~*~*~
Entering the lobby of his apartment building, jumin feels on edge. Why is mc ignoring his texts? Deciding to dial her, the director steps straight onto the elevator, his back to the lobby, as he presses the button and begins his ascent to the top floor.
No answer, voicemail. This is unlike mc to neglect her phone this way, she always has it close by with how active she is in the chat room. He rings Jaehee.
"Yes, Mr. Han, what is it?" her soft voice answers back.
"Miss Kang, have you heard from mc recently? She won't answer my texts or my calls, I'm beginning to feel strange." Jumin admits.
Jaehee clears her throat, "No; isn't she still at your penthouse?"
"She hasn't been in the chatroom either, I left work early to come check on her. I feel complicated.." He says with a slight irritation in his voice.
"Jumin, are you all right?" The assistant asks, concern to her tone.
"Um, no- to be honest, I'm not all right. I will be in touch with you after I've seen that she's safe, until then, thank you for your concern Miss Kang, excuse me."
"Goodbye Mr. Han, I hope she's safe.."
He hangs up as the elevator reaches the top floor, doors opening to the reassuring sight of his bodyguards still posted at their stations.
"Mr. Han, sir? That was very fast." The chief bodyguard steps forward to greet him.
"I beg your pardon?" The director asks.
"Not long ago you said you were taking mc home to see that she continues her work?"
A wave of a feeling he can only describe as panic washes over Jumin Han, "Excuse me chief, I didn't inform you I was returning early from work.."
Entering his pass code urgently, he steps into the penthouse, mc's shoes are gone. Elizabeth can be heard mewing loudly from her cage in the background. He runs to the bed, no sigh of mc or her phone.
"AAIIISH!!" he hisses as he throws the blankets back sinking his weight into the bed, hands covering his face. She's gone. Quickly he gets on his security computer and pulls up CCTV footage, he rewinds the footage to where he sees mc go to the door, is that.. himself entering?
mc leaves holding the man's hand in the footage. The time on the footage makes that about 8 minutes ago.
Dialing Luciel, he bites down on his thumb nail.
"Jumin, what's up, meow?" The redhead answers by the 2nd ring.
"Luciel, now is not the time for pleasantries. My CCTV footage is acting strange, I saw a man.. resembling me, leave with mc 8mins ago on the playback feed. Only that's impossible because I just arrived here moments ago."
"Ohhhhhh?? Let me see.. hold on a sec-" 707 can be heard typing vigorously over the line, "HMmmM.. let's zoom in and get a good look, shall we?"
"You're 184cm, correct?" The hacker abruptly asks.
"That is correct."
"The man in the footage is 182cm tall.. you have a shorter doppelganger on the loose!"
A sick feeling in his gut again washes over the C&I heir, as he runs to tell the bodyguards of Luciel's findings, "Thank you for the information, Luciel. Continue searching and find out who it is, my bodyguards have begun a search in the building."
Just as he hangs up, something catches his eye.. there is a single silver hair on the floor. Upon closer inspection it is not one of Elizabeth's hairs. Clenching his jaw, he keys in Zen's number.
~*~*~*~
It's already afternoon, wow it was a long drive from Jumin's Penthouse.
Stopped at a traffic light, Zen's phone is ringing. The actor pulls his phone out of his pocket and you both see that none other than Jumin Han himself, is ringing.
Tightening your grip around his waist, slight anxiety makes its way to the forefront of your mind.
Zen returns in kind, pocketing his phone, gently caressing your hands with his, "Babe, are you hungry?"
"Yes, starving actually.." you admit to his back.
"Okay," The light turns green, he lets go of your hand and once again the motorcycle rolls forward.
Wind nipping at your arms and hair, you still feel anxious, but Zen's presence alone is comforting.
He pulls off at a barbecue place, you don't know this, but it's close to the theater he rehearses at often. You get off the bike with a hand from Zen and the two of you make your way inside the restaurant.
Seated in a back corner near a window, the actor tells the waitress he'll have his usual, winking at you as he makes a two with his fingers.
"Never in my entire acting career, did I ever think I'd be portraying that jerk." Zen sighs as he takes his hair down from the tight bun he had it in, fixing his loose locks back into a low-pony. He undoes his tie next, slinging it out of his collar, tossing it on the table. Lastly, unbuttoning the top 3 buttons on his pin-striped dress shirt, "Aaaahhh, MUCH better.."
He shifts his gaze back to you, you're looking out the window. Fixated on the street bustling with traffic outside, your hands cupping your chin.
"mc, are you all right?" He asks, eyeing your reflection in the window, "It's okay if you're not.."
You breath out a shallow sigh, "I'm better now, I just can't help but think he's going to try and take me back.."
"Jagiya, I'll worry about him when he does, for now I'm worried about you." he smiles faintly at you in your reflection.
Focusing on your own reflection, you suddenly realize how disheveled you look. Hair is frizzy and tangled, shirt collar is all bunched up under the blazer Zen loaned you. You try to straighten your shirt out atleast, taking the blazer off and sitting it beside you.
Then you finally meet the handsome actor's gaze. He's so breath-taking in person, and his eyes, wow.. they almost don't look real, deep Ruby and crimson with flecks of Amber mixed in.
"I didn't even get the chance to introduce myself, it's so nice to meet you, Zen.. I'm mc" you extend your hand to his, he takes it and gingerly encloses yours in both of his.
A warm smile crosses his lips, "It's nice to finally meet the mysterious party planner behind the screen. I'm so sorry it had to be like this;;"
Shrugging, you say, "It is what it is, I'm just glad you were there for me when I needed you.." a light hue of pink dusts your cheeks. The actor's hands are so warm, his skin soft too.
An array of raw meats thinly sliced, seafood, and vegetables make their debut at your table. Dipping sauces, side dishes of kimchi, rice, and other pickled veggies decorate the table. More plates come out for serving. This is a feast, good thing you're hungry.
Without skipping a beat, Zen begins to dress the grill with veggies, and some meats for you. "A girl has to eat," he says affectionately, flashing you his signature smile.
You smile back, "Well hurry up, cause this girl is hungry~"
~*~*~*~
A while later after you've both eaten your fill of Korean BBQ leftovers in tow, you make it back to Zen's place. Upon your arrival there is an unnervingly familiar face there to greet you both.
You glance at Zen worriedly and he squeezes your hand reassuringly, letting go to step towards the other man.
"Ah, it's Mr. CEO-in-line. What brings you here?" Zen feigns ignorance.
"I'm here to collect mc, she's important to me and I need her." Jumin says, crossing his arms and stepping toward the actor "I have to admit masquerading as me to get her was clever, but the masquerade is over, hand her to me."
"No. I can't do that, Jumin. You can't just cage her up against her will and expect everything to be okay. That isn't how this works!" Zen says shooting him a disapproving scowl
Jumin frowns, "Then I'll have to do this the hard way. Chief! Please lend me your assistance."
Chief of Jumin's security and 2 sidelining bodyguards step out from the shadows and go to grab you, but you lunge out of the way. Scurrying to your feet, you run to Zen.
The bodyguards surround the two of you.
"JUMIN!" You yell his name, shaking. "I don't want to go back with you!!"
The director falters for a moment, "Then what would you have me do, mc?"
"Go back to your penthouse, let Elizabeth out of that damn cage, and GO TALK TO SOMEONE!" You shout, your gaze piercing his.
"You're making a SERIOUS mistake if you keep going with this shitty kidnapping plan of yours," Zen barks out, you can hear his heart pounding in his close proximity.
Jumin steps back and clears his throat, "Oh my God what am I doing? Chief, hold back.. I need to think."
Stepping towards Jumin, you take a deep breath mustering up your courage to face the business man. Zen goes to reach for you but you brush away from his touch, making eye contact with a worried glance, he reads you and nods.
"I won't go back with you, but even though I haven't been with the organization that long.. I can see that you really do need help, Jumin."
Jumin meets your eyes with his own, ashamedly, "mc, I want to formally apologize for my behavior, I am truly sorry.. I'm not in my right mind, I'm under so much stress.. it's stifling and I have never felt like this."
You smile softly at the downtrodden business man, "I have a party guest confirmed to attend who specializes in dealing with emotions in a healthy way, if you want to see him?"
The director nods in agreement, "Yes that would probably be wise, please forward me his contact information." and with that Jumin straightens his tie and steps toward the actor waiting behind you.
"Zen I must also apologize to you, I put mc in an unfair position and in doing so ignored advice from you and the others. I'm truly sorry. I must also thank you for taking mc's safety more seriously than I."
Watching, you see the fire slowly extinguished in Zen's crimson eyes, he strides over to Jumin, "Ha.. I didn't expect an apology. I've known you for a long time, but I was truly worried you'd gone off the deep end."
The both of you see Jumin off with Driver Kim and the Chief bodyguard. The two other bodyguards stay behind to guard you while you're at Zen's, for his peace of mind.
Spending the rest of the evening at Zen's proves to be a therapy in itself for you. He lets you close to him so effortlessly, and it feels as if you've known him a long time. After today you are so relieved things ended this way, leading up to it you feared the worst.
When Mr. Han gets back he sends Driver Kim again for you, and you return to Rika's apartment at last to finish the planning for the party. Smiling softly to yourself as you boot up your computer you think, beyond that cool exterior Jumin Han has a beating human heart with feelings like the rest of us.
Jumin takes steps to getting the help he needs dealing with his emotions in a healthy way, he actually goes away for a while to meet experts in a foreign country. Unfortunately missing the party, and not being present very often in the chats, but it gets him out of his betrothal, as the Choi sisters are not accommodating to his mental health.
Jaehee informs you of updates on Jumin while she looks after his cat in his absence, Elizabeth the Third still manages to escape and go missing like in Zen's foresight dream, but Seven manages to find her in his own search for the hacker. You and Zen start dating shortly after the party.
A whirlwind of events to get you here, but you smile back on the tribulations that have transpired leaving you all a bit better off than you started.
~{I'd like to make one big note, I'm a softy and Jumin deserves peace and happiness, even if it's not from mc ❤️}~
originally I planned a spiral downward ending for Mr. trust fund kid, but I couldn't do him dirty like that~

Kait Reacts To The AE 11/?
[2:16]
It's a brief chat. Literally. We tell Saeran that we made it out of there and that we're safe. We don't want to give up on him. Jumin has implied that a lot is amiss. His tone is somber like he and Saeran spoke beforehand about what happened and he's just trying to skirt around the subject to save my feelings. I don't like this, I don't like this one bit. All I do is say that I'm not giving up on him and that I will continue to have faith in him on the subject. I know that I can count on myself to not give up.
Even if Saeran thinks this is the end, I won't let this be his end. Not now, and not ever. I'm still curious about what Jumin is planning but I don't know what to think. He wants to... I'm getting ahead of myself.
The visual novel opens up on his sitting with Jaehee and Jumin, and Driver Kim as well. We are talking about how grim it seems. I ask if there is really nothing we can do. Can't we try? Please. I need to save him before it's too late. Jumin wants to tell me the truth, that Saeran will die and that he will carry this burden... but...
Driver Kim, I love you. You know the matters of my heart and see clearly here. I know that neither Jumin nor Jaehee want to scold me or tell me that I'm in over my head but I understand why the two of them don't want me to go back but I can't just leave him.
I beg for it because I know if I don't do something... Saeran's sure to die and I will not allow that. Rika already fucking tried to... that bad ending still has me fucking rattled to the core and I know I can't ever trust Rika. I don't know what the hell she's going to do in this good ending but I sure as hell am not going to let her break him. He's not a toy!
We manage to convince Jumin that we should go back but he warns me that I need to be careful and not get caught. Jaehee is the one that gets to him and says that we need to try if there is a single chance that this is going to work out. She is the one that says that this can work.
We just need to have faith. He relents but only because he knows that I will not stop. He says that we need to avoid detection at all costs and that I need to be protected. Whether or not I can even save Saeran, Jumin wants to respect the final wish that Saeran imparted onto him more than ever and I respect that. I really do.
He makes it clear that if I am caught.
He cannot save me.
I accept that risk.
Yoosung and Zen are together, too. Yoosung has found folks all over MeTube that are saying that the video that Saeyoung made was forced. He says that there is hope because there are people who can see beyond the lies. I know that some people will see the truth. We need to believe in ourselves and never start doubting what we know.
They both try to support one another and... they want to help me so bad. They decide they need to comfort me and stand by me and I love them for that. I know they don't want Saeran to die. I know they want to see the happy ending. They both decide to pray to fate for things to work out the way that they should.
They will keep a brave face for us.
They will have faith.
This rides on my shoulders.
Saeyoung is awake. He texted me. He... I thought he would want to fight with me. But, he decides it is better for him to accept the dying wish of his brother then to do something else. He sees no more hope and I just. I was already upset about my fucking up and to see him try to reassure me after all of this... I knew he wouldn't blame me for what happened. He thanked me again for being the one to love and stand by Saeran. I'm sorry, Saeyoung. I promise. I promise we will be safe in the end. I promise i will save him.
I promise our promise of happiness will stay for all of us. It will not end this way.
I don't even know what to say about this one other than I would trust Jumin Han to run a country. It's not what I expected for the press conference to be but you know what. I think this was hinted at before when we talked about politics and how Jumin could be interconnected to that. I never thought he would have to leave C&R, so this one really surprised me.
And if you call Jumin... I hurt for him. I think what hurt the most was what he said after this in such a sad but resigned voice: Saeran would be elated to know that toy are back safely... what a shame we cannot reach him. Jumin. I know you're trying to spare me here but... it hurts.
Please, you are always taking these burdens... your shoulders are so heavy from this. I'm sorry this happened to you and that you have been hurt by the ones that you thought you could trust the most. I don't say outright what Rika did but...
[5:55]
Zen and Vanderwood. I never expected this kind of conversation to happen out here. They are on the way to butting heads. It looks like Vanderwood has quite literally joined us and they literally jest that they wonder they they'll get their own emoticon.
Well, the Vanderwood stans are eating good these days.
Y'all desire that and I only think they got this much is because so many people push for that to be a route or just show enough interest in Vanderwood that we got to this point so I find that rather interesting. I just don't know how to react to all these characters in the same space after seeing them separated and not interconnected. Zen doesn't forgive Vandy for what they did but I don't blame him given what happened in the first place.
They get it, too. They know what trust is. Zen is scared of the worst right now. We want to have faith but he knows that we have to do something but Jumin has run out of options but he wants to pray. Vanderwood lays it out very clearly, we do not have many options right now.
They try to say put the best case scenario that could happen but I don't know what to think.
I want him to be okay.
I lie to them because Jumin said not to say a word about the plan and I will not. I know they will try to either help me or stop me because this is a dangerous choice but it is my choice to make. This ending is about freedom and choice as well as respecting that. So, I am allowed to do what I can here and I will not hesitate to try all that I can for Saeran. Please, please be okay and I promise it will be okay.
Zen calls. He had a prophetic dream about what I am literally about to go and do but he didn't see the end of the dream. He warns me not to do that because it would stop Saeyoung from working so hard and the plan that Saeran gave himself over for will fail. I tell him that we have to take a risk.
What if I regret not trying to save him? I think it's worth the danger... the risk. Saeran is worth the trouble and he always will be. He says that Seven keeps taking breaks to smoke out his trouble but. He's never smoked before as far as I know.
God, it's that bad, isn't it?
I don't want to imagine what he's feeling right now because I'm feeling it too. Let's pray this is going to work out. I have to try. I have to try and if I don’t, I know that I will always have regret. That’s my choice. They will respect that choice of mine just as Saeran made his choice.
Jumin and Jaehee are talking... she was praying for the best. She wants to be hopeful and Jumin comes to join her, he often doesn't attend church anymore but he did when he was young.
Things are changing and they aren't the people they were before this happened, and Jumin says that he cannot go back to who he was once. He has so much pain in his heart that he will carry for the rest of his life. He has regrets. He wishes he did more. A life that felt planned to the end is not one that he thought would ever change but life, he realizes, is a journey that starts out and ends with theatrics.
He decides that life is just a mess where we are bound by judgment, praise, the order, hierarchy... the obsession is not one that we can escape.
Yet, death is always equal. Meaning all performances are equal in the end. He hit rock bottom and simply said that he felt like everything was taken from him and he nearly saw no point left. It felt like he had to lose all he had to come to this point. He learned something from Saeran and I. His detachment from love and faith in others... to protect himself? That was not what he should have done. He realizes only now that he wants to believe again in love and in what can become of the world.
Love and happiness in it are what make life worth it. They are the driving force, he says, and he wishes to accept that into his heart. He comes to say he understands what his father is chasing now... his mistakes... he simply wanted what all crave. Love. Jaehee says she can't really comment on such things but Jumin is thinking out loud.
And yet, in this moment, Saeran has experienced that love and Jumin doesn't want it to end. He is wanting him to live. To see it through. To be able to be happy, loved, and to love in return. Jumin is only able to breathe a prayer of safety for him in the hours to come.
I pray for his safety as well.

Most Anticipated Non-Western Fantasy Books of 2019
https://ift.tt/2ouKBy1
It's a great time to be a fan of fantasy literature, as the genre makes more space for epics told outside of the western perspective.

tumblr
While I love a good epic fantasy read where an unassuming, usually male, usually white farmboy learns of his great destiny to save the world, there are so many fantasy stories that exist outside of that framework.
One of my favorite ways to see fantasy genre tropes subverted is by taking the usual feudal European-like setting of the "traditional" epic fantasy saga and throwing it out the window in favor of mythic tropes that are less familiar to western fantasy readers. After all, Game of Thrones is great, but we tend to overrepresent Eurocentric, medieval-inspired stories in the epic fantasy world. There are so many other kinds of stories out there waiting to be told and heard.

It's an exciting time to be reading fantasy, as mainstream publishing makes more space for epic sagas told through the lens of cultures, perspectives, and storytelling traditions that have developed outside of the western world. Here's a collection of some of the fantasy books we're most looking forward to in 2019 that fall into that exciting, vital, and extremely broad category.
January
Can't wait to pick up something good? Check out these fantasies that have already hit the shelves.
The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty
In The City of Brass, Nahri learned that the magic she'd always dismissed (in favor of running her own cons in 18th century Cairo) is real, powerful, and dangerous. She's had to use all her instincts as a con artist to survive the royal court of Daevabad and embrace her true heritage.
read more: A Conversation with S.A. Chakraborty
In her return in book two, she's without the allies she thought she could trust, and any mistake could be disastrous. Add a prince defying his father, djinn, assassins, and unpredictable water sprits, and this #ownvoices adventure is sure to be a hit with readers of the first novel. (If you missed the first one, better catch up before starting book two.)
Read Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty
Monstress #19 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
The long awaited return of Liu and Takeda's Eisner Award-winning Monstress hit shelves in January. Inspired by 20th century Asia, Monstress is set in a matriarchal world where magical creatures, Arcanics, have long battled with sorceresses, who use the Arcanics to fuel their own magical powers.
Maika Halfwolf is an Arcanic disguised as a human, and her adventures tackle themes of war, racism, slavery, and what it means to be human. Missed earlier issues? Two trade paperback volumes have already collected the beginning of this #OwnVoices series.
Read Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
In this conclusion of Arden’s Winternight Trilogy, Vasya tries to save two Russias: the mortal one and the magical one. It’s no easy task when the Grand Prince seems set on war, and trusting people he shouldn’t, or when a powerful demon returns to wreak havoc.

Along with having the world on her shoulders, Vasya strives to save Morozko, the frost demon she has respected since she was a child, who has become even more important to her over the course of the trilogy. Readers who have yet to pick up the earlier two volumes should not begin with this one—go back, instead, and pick up The Bear and the Nightingale to read where it all began.
Read The Winter Witch by Katherine Arden
The Wolf in the Whale by Jordanna Max Brodsky
Brodsky draws on both Viking lore and Inuit tradition in this fantasy set in 1000 A.D. Omat, born with a female body but raised in the man’s role of shaman, can invoke the spirits of animals, the land, the sea, and the sky. But when the spirits stop listening, Omat’s people are on the brink of starvation.
When Omat meets the Viking Brandr, who brings with him new and different gods, she sees how her whole world could be thrown into turmoil. Brodsky, who grew up in Eastern Canada, did in depth research of all the mythologies in play to present a fantasy well-grounded in real-world beliefs and legends.

Gates of Stone by Angus Macallan
Macallan launches the first in his "Lord of the Islands" novel with a blood-drenched vision of rulers vying for power in a setting reminiscent of Indonesia. The book features Katerina, the daughter of the Khevan Emperor denied her throne because of her sex; Prince Jun, a prince more interested in poetry than combat until his father is murdered; and Fahran, a spy and merchant trying to start a war between his nation's adversaries in order to gain his country greater prominence.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
In Shannon’s East-Meets-West doorstopper of a novel, two cultures with very different ideas about dragons meet in conflict. The nations of Virtudom, ruled by Queen Sabran IX, have at their core the myth of the Nameless One, a fire-breathing dragon defeated by their ancestor, Saint Galian Berethnet, and thrown into the Abyss with his draconic horde. So long as the royal line of Virtudom remains unbroken, the Nameless One cannot return.
On the other side of the world, in Seiiki, people revere water-based dragons, bonding with them and becoming Riders. The Seiikinese believe that the Nameless One was forced into a sleep by a comet as part of a cycle of balance: fire and water, earth and sky. Now, a thousand years later, the Nameless One is about to return, upending the world as everyone knows it.
Though much of Shannon’s dragonlore is typical of high fantasy, the different cultural views of the species—and their divergent mythologies—earned the novel a place on this list.
Read The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James
Stories within stories provide the narrative landscape for James’s #OwnVoices African-set epic fantasy trilogy starter, which already has a development deal with Michael B. Jordan set to adapt.
Tracker always works alone, but when he encounters a group of mercenaries looking for the same child he has been hired to find, he breaks his rule. In the company of the shape-shifter Leopard, Tracker and the others search, sifting through stories and lies, determined to discover the truth behind the boy and his disappearance.

Lengthy and filled with cinematic violence and graphic sexuality—and sometimes a mixture of those two—this #OwnVoices novel leans heavily into pre-colonial African mythology, including vampires, witches, and necromancers, among others, and features point of view characters who circle the truth while making the reader work to figure it out as they go.
Read Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James
The True Queen by Zen Cho
Although this fantasy sequel is set in Regency England, Cho gives the genre a spin with her focus on main characters of color (here, Malaysian twins Muna and Sakti; in the first, Sorcerer to the Crown, African freed-slave and sorcerer Zacharias Wythe and dark-skinned sorceress Prunella Gentleman) and a willingness to engage on the unfairness of the society of the era.
When Muna and Sakti wake with no memory of how they washed ashore, they’re aided by witch Henrietta, who decides to take them to London to see the Socreress Royal for help. Sakti abruptly vanishes, and Muna and Henrietta pursue the mystery of where she’s gone—and why the fairy realm is encroaching on England.
Light hearted with plenty of Regency wit and banter, this #OwnVoices novel also offers a good helping of female-female romance, along with a return of the characters from the first novel.
Read The True Queen by Zen Cho

The Bird King by G. Willow Wilson
While many readers may know Wilson best from her fantastic run on Marvel’s Ms. Marvel, which introduced Kamala Khan, she’s also the author of the celebrated Alif the Unseen and, now, a Muslim-Iberian historical fantasy set in 1491.
The Bird King follows Fatima, the sultan’s last Circassian concubine, and Hassan, the royal mapmaker, as they travel through Spain in the company of a jinn. Hassan’s magical ability to draw maps of places he has never seen—and whose maps can change reality by how they are drawn—is viewed as sorcery by the Christian Spanish monarchy, putting both Hassan and Fatima, as his friend, at risk.
As Fatima, Hassan, and the jinn search for the safety of the island of The Bird King, the novel transforms from historical and grounded to a true fantasy about tolerance and friendship.
Read The Bird King by G. Willow Wilson
The Perfect Assassin by K. A. Doore
In a world of assassins and jaan, Amastan isn't sure that he wants to follow the family business into becoming a killer. But when members of his own family start being murdered, it's Amastan who is ordered to solve the murders, before his family is blamed for killing their own. This series starter launches "The Chronicles of Ghadid," and is likely to appeal to Assassin's Creed players as much as fantasy readers.

Descendent of the Crane by Joan He
Princess Hesina of Yan is uninterested in being a princess; she’d far rather have an ordinary life than be part of the imperial court. But all of those wishes are thrown away when her father is murdered. Not only must Hesina take up the mantle of queen, but she’s determined to discover who killed her father—before the murderer can turn on her as well.

Upon a Burning Throne by Ashok K. Banker
In promotional blurbs, Banker is called a pioneer of fantasy in his home country of India, and Upon a Burning Throne is based on the ancient classic, The Mahabharata, full of demigods and demons and battles for the throne. Although princes Adri and Shvate are royals, they must pass the Test of Fire if they want to inherit the throne.

To make matters more complicated, a half-demon girl claims to have the right to take the test as well. When the girl is not allowed to claim any power after passing the Test, her demon father declares war on the Empire, threatening to tear the world apart. This #OwnVoices series is set for seven volumes, so get ready for an epic fantasy saga stretching over thousands of pages.
Read Upon a Burning Throne by Ashok K. Banker
The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala
An assassin and a soldier get tangled in a civil war in this #ownvoices fantasy steeped in Indian history and Hindu mythology. Viper, an assassin fighting alongside the rebels, is how Esha hides her identity. No one knows that she, who lost so much in the royal coup, is the legendary assassin.
Kunal is a soldier, unquestioning in his orders to support the king, even while he longs for life outside the army. When Viper is on a mission to kill General Hotha, Kunal’s controlling uncle, the pair become involved in events on a grander scale, and no one is really sure who is directing all the pieces of this deadly game... This is listed as book one of the trilogy, so expect more cat and mouse games as the story progresses.

The Candle and the Flame by Nafiza Azad
In this YA feminist fantasy, set along the Silk Road, the city of Noor is destroyed by Shayateen djinn; only Fatima and two other humans survived the attack. Now, a restored Noor is protected by Ifrit djinn, who represent order and reason.
But their protection does not remove all the danger: when one of the Ifrit is killed, Fatima is forever changed, and she finds herself drawn into the political intrigues of the maharajah and his sister—and onto the magical battlefield. Azad’s #OwnVoices tale features fiercely independent women, and a cosmopolitan Silk Road city striving to find harmony within its myriad cultures.

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
It isn’t easy to be a legend. Zafira is the Hunter; by taking on a man’s role to feed her people, she can never reveal that she’s a girl, or everything she has done will be rejected. Nasir is the Prince of Death, a deadly assassin who punishes the enemies of his father, the king, despite his own tendency toward compassion.
Both Zafira and Nasir believe that an artifact can stop the incursion of the Arz, a cursed forest that expands by the day. Zafira, as the Hunter, sets out to find it; Nasir is ordered to retrieve it—and to kill the Hunter. Set in a fantastical Arabia, filled with cultures and beliefs that reflect the diversity of the real-world region, this #ownvoices YA series starter features lyrical prose and an enemies-to-lovers romance.
We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
Nocturna by Maya Motayne
First in an #OwnVoices fantasy trilogy set in a Latinix-inspired world, Nocturna introduces Finn, a face shifter, who has been in and out of so many disguises over the years she’s practically forgotten what her own face looks like. Unfortunately, she crosses the wrong mobster, and she’s given a choice: succeed at a heist inside Castallan’s royal palace, or have her magic stripped away.
Prince Alfehr faces the dilemma of trying to live up to his dead brother’s role as heir to the throne; feeling as though he will forever fail at that role, Alfie would far rather dabble in forbidden magics on the hope of bringing his brother back. When the two of them accidentally unleash an ancient evil, they have to become a team to stop it from destroying the entire world.
Read Nocturna by Maya Motayne

The Last Tsar's Dragon by Jane Yolen and Adam Stemple
Set during the Russian revolution, this novella features dragons as tactical weapons, giving it the feel of a historical fiction that happens to have dragons involved in the plot. Yolen and Stemple explore the Romanov family history, as well as royal conspiracies and the revolutions of Jews and Bolsheviks during the October Revolution. For fans of this mother-son duo, it's a chance to delve into historical intrigue.
Unraveling by Karen Lord
Told in a contemporary setting, Lord's newest fantasy could easily be called a psychological thriller. Dr. Miranda Ecouvou has helped put a serial killer behind bars, but there's more to the world than she realized—and now Chance and the Trickster have enlisted her to look more deeply into the seven unusual murders. The plot and world are both labyrinthine, steeped in #ownvoices Caribbean storytelling.
July
Shatter the Sky by Rebecca Kim Wells
You might have heard something about "that angry feminist bisexual dragon YA fantasy novel" on the Internet, and that's a description that Wells has embraced wholeheartedly for her new series starter. In Shatter the Sky, Maren and Kaia expect to live a quiet life—but then the emperor's prophets steal Kaia away to join them, and it's up to Maren to rescue her girlfriend. She's determined to do it, too, even if the only way to rescue Kaia is to steal a dragon from the emperor and storm the fortress of his prophets on her own. While there's a lot in Shatter the Sky that fits into the traditions of western fantasy (including Tamora Pierce and Mercedes Lackey), but the worldbuilding includes #ownvoices Asian influences as well.
David Mogo, Godhunter by Suyi Davies Okungbowa
This #ownvoices urban fantasy is set in Lagos, Nigeria, in an age in which thousands of gods fell to Earth during a war. David Mogo is a demigod and a freelance Godhunter. But he takes a bad gig when he agrees to catch a god for an Eko wizard—who turns around and decides to rule Lagos himself. The three sections of the novel intertwine, but each has a distinct arc, almost like separate novellas. But together, they show David's journey of self-discovery as he deals with his own feelings of abandonment and defines for himself what it means to be a demigod.
Jade War by Fonda Lee
The Green Bone Saga continues in this sequel to the World Fantasy Award-winning Jade City. The Kaul family battles for control of the capital city of Kekon, and over the jade that allows Green Bone warriors to maintain their supernatural powers. But the conflict within Kekon is only a hint at the conflicts beyond the island's borders. Other nations have become interested in the properties of Kekon's magical jade, and the Kaul family must decide whether to band together, or whether to make new and more dangerous alliances to rise to the top. This #ownvoices Asian-inspired fantasy surpasses the first in the series, delving more deeply into Lee's world.
July
The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
If a Xhosa-inspired revenge fantasy sounds up your alley, this #ownvoices debut may be exactly what you're looking for. Originally self-published in 2017, The Rage of Dragons got picked up by Orbit in a new edition for July 2019 publication. The story is set in a world of war, where those rare gifted—one in two thousand women can call the dragons, one in one hundred men can magically transform into a superhuman killer—wage battles, using the rest of their people as fodder. Ungifted Tau's greatest desire is to get injured early on so he can settle down and raise a family. But when everyone he cares about is slaughtered, his goals change: he will be come the greatest swordsman in order to get revenge on the three people who betrayed him.
The Ascent to Godhood by J. Y. Yang
The fourth in Yang's "Tensorate" series of novellas, The Ascent to Godhood explores how the Protector, now dead, came to power—and why her greatest enemy, Lady Han, mourns her death. Yang's series falls into a space that is almost serial fiction (we include it in our serial roundup), because the novellas are a shorter length, and the story and world grow with each new addition.
Fans of this #OwnVoices silkpunk saga are sure to enjoy seeing how it all began—and new readers might find this a good jumping in point for the series.
Read The Ascent to Godhood by J.Y. Yang
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
There’s something going on with stitching and magic in recent fantasy, but this #OwnVoices novel features both tailors and a girl-disguised-as-boy fantasy story with echoes of Mulan. Drawing inspiration from Chinese culture, Lim creates an Imperial Court where the competition over who will become the imperial tailor—and where Maia is at risk of being executed if anyone discovers that a girl is vying for the job.
Things get even worse when the court magician takes an interest in her, because he almost certainly knows the truth. Set with the task to sew three impossible gowns, one from the laughter of the sun, one from the moon’s tears, and the third from the blood of stars, Maia departs on a journey that will either save her family, or end her life.
Given that the book is marked as the first of a series, one can only hope that Maia will survive to stitch her way through future installments.
Read Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Though this one isn't set wholly in a fantasy world, I couldn't miss out on including a Jazz Age underworld epic. Casiopea Tun dreams of life beyond her small town in Mexico, but those dreams didn't prepare her for freeing the Mayan god of death and following him into the Mayan underworld to reclaim his throne.
With parts of the novel set in Mexico City and the Yucatán and other pars set in the darkness of the Mayan land of the dead, this #OwnVoices novel is at the top of my TBR list.
Read Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Morena-Garcia
The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang
The sequel to Kuang's celebrated The Poppy War, the novel follows shaman and warrior Rin, now addicted to opium, traumatized by her own actions at the end of the Poppy War, and hiding from her god.
In order to get revenge on the Empress, Rin allies with the Dragon Warlord to take over her home country—but Rin learns that her new ally's motivations may not be for the good of the nation after all. Kuang uses some real-world events from twentieth century China as inspiration for an #OwnVoices fantasy full of magic and monsters.
Read The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang

The Magnolia Sword: A Ballad of Mulan by Sherry Thomas
If you can't wait for the 2020 live action Mulan, starring Liu Yifei, keep an eye out for this YA wuxia retelling by Chinese-American author Sherry Thomas. A cover reveal posted at Hypable also offered an excerpt packed full of martial arts action. Catching arrows? This #OwnVoices Mulan is definitely going to be our action hero.
Read The Magnolia Sword: A Ballad of Mulan by Sherry Thomas
Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron
Arrah doesn't have the knack for her witchdoctor family's magic. But when the Kingdom's children start to disappear, she's not going to let the mystery go unsolved. But this is no simple crime spree: the Demon King is waking, and Arrah may be the only one to stop him—if she's willing to sell years of her life to gain the magic it will take to defeat him. This #ownvoices fantasy sets witchdoctors and demons and an over-ambitious mother in the path of a heroine who's willing to tackle it all to save the world.
A Hero Born by Jin Yong
It might be a stretch to consider this classic Chinese epic truly a fantasy novel, but if you love a good kung fu epic, this is absolutely a thing you need on your list. Stretching from the Song Empire to the rule of Genghis Khan, the novel follows Guo Jing, a Song patriot who joined Genghis Khan. But a greater destiny awaits him, and he must learn from the Seven Heroes of the South in order to take up the mantle of his fate.
Steel Crow Saga by Paul Krueger
Krueger explores the role of colonization in this #ownvoices Asian-inspired fantasy epic. The nation of Tomoda has, until recently, been a colonial power. The Sanbunas have recently won a war that freed them from Tomoda. It means that Jimuro, heir to Tomoda's throne, should despise Tala, one of the Sabuna soldiers escorting him back to him to his home nation. But the two of them are thrown together, along with a detective-and-Shang-princess-in-disguise, Xiulan, and her thief partner, Lee. The four of them team together to defeat a killer using more powerful magic than the world has ever seen—and, along the way, forge friendships that could change the progression of their entire world.
October
The Never Tilting World by Rin Chupeco
Climate change can be a threat even in a fantasy world, and here, a goddess has sent the world spinning into a climate shift that causes rifts between nations. Half of the world is cloaked in night, and the other half burns with daylight. The two goddesses who rule the world each have a daughter, and both have kept their secrets about which twin goddess betrayed their world.
These young goddesses are called back to the site of where it all happened... and determined to undo the damage their mothers have caused. The daytime desert setting features sandworms and sand dolphins (which is enough to put it on my TBR list right there), and the author has noted her inspiration from both Mad Max and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The worldbuilding itself is less referential to real-world mythologies, and some advance reviewers are saying it's like nothing they've ever read before. We can't help but consider that a good thing.
A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy
Eva and her sister Isa must face each other in mortal combat to decide who takes the throne, because in Myre, only the strongest is fit to be the queen. Eva has magick of both marrow and bone, a rare power, but it means that her sister may not be the only one who wants her dead.
Eva must rely on a fey instructor and a khimaer prince to teach her how to wield her own magick before it's too late. But Eva's biggest challenge may be facing the sister she still loves and fighting her to the death, because only one of them can survive. Based on a North African setting, this debut fantasy doesn't shy away from the dark and bloody, whether in magick or politics.
November
The Deep by Rivers Solomon
Inspired by the song of the same title, written by Hamilton original cast member Daveed Diggs and his fellow hip-hop artists William Huston and Jonathan Snipes, Solomon’s novel takes place under the water, where generations of African slave women live now-idyllic lives, their pasts forgotten.
Only Yetu, the people’s historian, remembers the truth of their past. But the weight of the memories is destroying her, so Yetu tries to flee to the surface—only to gain the understanding that if her people are to survive, they must begin to remember for themselves. Solomon, author of the science fiction novel An Unkindness of Ghosts as well as a writer on Serial Box serial The Vela, shows their versatility with this switch into this #OwnVoices fantasy.
Read The Deep by Rivers Solomon
The Impossible Contract by K.A. Doore
Doore's Chronicles of Ghadid continue as Thana, daughter of the Serpent, takes up her first assassination contract to prove her worth. Her target, Heru, is a dangerous sorcerer, and Thana isn't the only one who wants him dead. When a rival sends an undead horde to attach Heru and Thana both, Thana has no choice but to follow her target into the empire that threatens her own nation. Following a different main character from the first book in the series, The Perfect Assassin, the novel still relies on the world building of the first in this Arabian-flavored setting, so pick up book one before this one hits the shelves.
Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri
Last year's Empire of Sand told the story of Mehr, daughter of an imperial governor and a mother who is one of the outcast and oppressed Amrithi people, descendants of desert spirits. Because Mehr can work desert magic, the deathless Emperor and his advisers take her captive, force her to marry, and try to break her spirit. But when Mehr discovers their plot for her magic, she stands against the tide. In Realm of Ash, Mehr's younger sister Arwa is now an adult, widowed in a massacre she only survived due to her Amrithi heritage. To try to free the Empire from a curse, she forms an allegiance with the disgraced prince, and they travel to the Realm of Ash, seeking to to find answers in the ghostly memories of their ancestors. This #ownvoices sequel returns to the South Asian inspired desert lands of the Ambhan Empire, giving readers new aspects of its world to explore.
Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callendar
Set in a Carribean-inspired fantasy world, this #OwnVoices novel follows Sigourney Rose, last heir to a murdered noble family. Her people have been enslaved and massacred by colonizers for generations, and Sigourney, who has the power to control minds, is ready to take her revenge. But as she manipulates herself into the royal island and among the colonizers, she realizes a sinister magic is killing the ruling families, and she herself may be a target.
Callender’s excellent middle-grade novel, Hurricane Child, had an understated sense of fantasy and a beautifully grounded depiction of the islands, family, and same-sex budding romance. While I expect the fantasy aspects in Queen of the Conquered to be much stronger, I hope that we’ll see more of those earlier strengths.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
If you're like us here at Den of Geek, you've already taken the quiz to find out your Maji clan and you've put the date for this release, the sequel to last year's Children of Blood and Bone, on your calendar in big red pen. We're ready to get back into the world of the Orisha and find out what happens next with Zélie and Amari now that they've brought magic back into the world.
Step one is securing Amari's throne—so that Orisha's maji clans can be safe from persecution. Can't wait until December? You've got time to read Adeyemi's first #ownvoices African-centered fantasy over again!
In the Works
Choice of Games, publisher of interactive, multiple-choice novels, has two forthcoming non-western fantasy apps in production. (Disclosure: I also have multiple-choice novels published by Choice of Games, but I’m not involved in either of these projects!)
Keep an eye out for #OwnVoices Destined for Greatness, by Yasmine Fahmy, in which the reader directs the actions of a main character who keeps company with a djinn, flies magical carpets, and has to save the city of Ghariba from a nefarious dragon; and Tale of Two Cranes by Michelle and Stepanie Balaban, in which the main character helps shape the course of a battle between two warring nobles (based on the historical civil war between the Han and Qin dynasties) in an ancient China filled with magic.
What non-western fantasies are you most looking forward to this year? What did we miss? Let us know—we’ll keep updating this piece as we find them!
