“I’m not stubborn!” Sydney complained. “I’m nervous…” She trusted Marie Pilar but she was still nervous to try something new and be bad at it. She didn’t want to fall in love with something and be no good at it liked she’d done so many times before. Plus, she didn’t want to look dumb in front of Marie Pilar. “Maybe another time…” after she’d had a chance to practice on her own.

“Will you let me rub your back?” Jose Manuel to Sydney

“Don’t try and butter me up.” Sydney narrowed her eyes at Jose Manuel. “I’m still mad at you.” Normally she would have loved for him to rub her back, he had the greatest hands. But that was before he’d brought his ex back to the house they’d been sharing. Sydney wasn’t a monster, she obviously wanted Jose Manuel to help Marie Pilar but she didn’t expect for them both to come back home. She didn’t expect for the other woman to be asleep in the room across the hall. “It’s going to take more than a back rub to explain this.”
