After a long night where he had talked to Sirius and explained the situation to his now ex-boyfriend, Remus was tired. The whole conversation had been awkward and challenging. There had been many tears from both Sirius and Remus, and after it all, his ex had packed up his things and just left. Remus understood why and knew that his friend needed time before they could pick up their friendship because they agreed that they were still friends in the end.Â
Remus ran a hand over his face and sighed. He could do with a few more hours of sleep, but he was too wired up to go back to sleep. Remus checked the time, seeing that it was past 9 am, he got to his feet and found some floo-powder. âAuro headquarters, James Potterâs office,â he called before he stuck his head in the fire.â James, do you have time to step through,â he asked as the world stopped turning and the otherâs office came into view. They needed privacy and Remus place was better suited for it than James office.Â

Where: The Lupin Family Home
When: Two days before the debate
The silence weighed heavily on Teddy. It was a part of his routine now, visiting his parents every week. If he couldnât make it for dinner, he joined them for a cup of tea which was something he had promised himself he would continue to do, no matter how busy he became, or how dark the world surrounding him grew. Merlin, they were his constant, they meant more to him than he could ever say. And knowing his godfatherâs story had ingrained in him so much gratitude, so much appreciation for being raised by the people who brought him into the world, the people who did everything they could to keep him safe, and nurture him. Although his career was about so much more than simply making his father proud, sometimes that felt like the only motivation to matter. His connection with Remus was his drive, and the bond they shared was why he found himself sitting at the kitchen counter of his family home. Why both he, and Remus were about to be hugging mugs of hot chocolate, something they had been known to do when they were upset, or seeking support. More often than not, he didnât need to tell Remus how he was feeling. A simple suggestion of hot chocolate would suffice. And now was no different to any other time, as they contemplated the upcoming debate. Within minutes, Remus had been heating up milk, adding cocoa powder, and other ingredients to a saucepan to make what was always the best hot chocolate Teddy had ever tasted.Â
The plans the Order had put in place to display photographs of two people they were mourning so deeply were difficult enough to process. But Greyback was a shadow hovering over the Lupins, and Teddy wasnât sure that shadow would dissipate until the man was dead. The reality of losing his godfather, alongside Kingsley, of being forced to face that in an act of defiance, was impossible to accept. Especially given the nature of Kingsleyâs death. He wasnât sure he was ready, and he wasnât sure his father was ready either. Listening to his mum as she made her way about the living room, he knew she was intentionally giving them space. Remus looked older now, more grey, and tired than he ever had before. It was impossible to ignore, and impossible to pretend it wasnât a genuine cause for concern. Remusâ mental health had always been somewhat shaky, and though he wasnât delicate, Teddy was beginning to wonder just how much more trauma he would be able to endure. Tonks, apparently, was thinking the very same thing. Was she hoping he would be able to make a difference? Pull his dad out of whatever misery he was choosing to wallow in? âI wish I didnât have to go, Dad. I know itâs stupid to say...â His voice was quiet, he was resigned to his fate. His job meant he had no say in the matter. Politics were important, as was the Order of the Phoenix, so he couldnât afford to miss such an influential event. âI donât want to see their faces up there like that...â

If Milo wasnât so tired, he would be nervous, he thought. Although his lack of nerves could also be attributed to the whiskey he had slipped into his coffee. He learned years ago that it was sensible to arrive early. When you arrived early you could pull out a flask and add to your drink without anybody watching you, or querying your decisions. He wondered whether Remus would be able to smell it but really that was at the very bottom of his list of concerns. He had never once been given the opportunity to sit down and talk to somebody like him. And realising there had been another werewolf at Hogwarts, somebody who could have helped him to feel less alone, was making him bitter, and angry. Would it really have hurt Dumbledore to tell them both? To introduce them?Â
Taking a sip from his mug, he slouched over the table, tapping his fingers absentmindedly as he waited for his company to arrive. Remus had seemed friendly, and warm, and willing to help, but what if he changed his mind? What if he no longer wanted anything to do with him? Luckily he didnât have too long to dwell on his worries, or talk himself out of staying. Before his coffee had even begun to cool, Remus Lupin was taking a seat opposite him. Merlin, this was weird. The Remus Lupin. The one who had caused so much trouble with his friends in the year below him at school. It seemed to ridiculous to think he could be a werewolf. So ridiculous, and yet here they were.Â
âHey,â he smiled, already feeling awkward. âI- uh, I ordered you a coffee,â he gestured to the second cup in front of him, nudging it towards his new friend. âI donât know what you like though, so I stuck with a latte... figured that was a safe bet.â

@swearwolfremusâ
Theyâd already been walking for a little while after apparating to Merlin knows where in hopes that maybe they might find a breadcrumb of information about the whereabouts of Dumbledore. James hoped that they would, that out of some stroke of good fortune, theyâd see him on the horizon walking towards them -- maybe heâd even shout â10 points to Gryffindorâ because they were so lucky as to find the old wizard. Well, of course, that was likely just a far off dream and James knew that, but he wasnât about to say it aloud. James wanted it as much as Remus did. âSo, third time lucky?â James said, nudging his friend out of their mutual silence and back into conversation. The wizard was fine with silence, up until a point and uncomfortable or awkward silence was certainly not something he could handle well. This was their third attempt at going somewhere that they thought may have had a chance. Granted, the others were in some well-occupied areas (or at least in comparison to the farmland that they currently trudged across). "Some little shack in the middle of nowhere that we can't find seems like just the kind of long shot that will yield results."Â

not my intention // remus & mary
The Gryffindor common room was lively that evening. It had come about spontaneously, as the best nights do, starting with some spread out groups studying or having soft conversations finding their way together with a few exchanged stories and some laughs. Before long, the area near the fireplace was crowded with lions willing to take off one night from their work to enjoy time with their fellow students.
Mary, of course, had started in the middle of the crowd, feeding off of the energy bouncing around the room. But she had been suddenly struck with a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. This lovely moment wouldnât last; in fact, it would be over sooner than she thought. And with each that ended, it was one closer to being her last ever. Something that, one would think, would make her want to stay and soak it in while she could. But now she was in some sort of mood, and she worried she would quickly become a downer is she didnât deal with it.
Popping up from where she had been curled on the floor, she started to maneuver her way around the mass. Just as she managed to breech the perimeter, she nearly ran into Remus, who had been headed down from the boysâ dorm.
âHey there,â she said, grabbing his arm with a light grip as she passed by. âI know everything thatâs going on in this room right now seems very exciting. But, any chance I can convince you to come with me for a smoke?â

Alexander & Remus ll The Proposal
Alexander had been waiting for work to end impatiently all day. He just wanted to get to the best part of his day which was seeing Remus. Since they had moved in together he had never been happier and he was excited to take Remus out that night and ask a question he had been wanting to ask for months. The reservation was set at the little bistro where they had gone on their first date. He was happy and nervous when the work day finally ended. He had brought clothes to change into for their date not wanting to waste any time when he got home.
He arrived with a bouquet of flowers and a new horror movie that he knew Remus hadnât see yet. Even though Rory and Lilith told him no horror during the proposal he thought it important to sneak a little of it in somewhere. Walking through the door of their home he called out for Remus hoping he was ready to go. âBabe are you ready for our date tonight?âÂ

âItâs a shame when people just canât concentrate during these meetings, isnât it?â Anastazie approached Remus after the Prefectâs meeting was called to an end like they were picking up a previous chat, as opposed to the reality of her striking up a conversation seemingly out of nowhere. âWith all everyone wanted to talk about this gossip paper, weâre lucky we didnât get more off schedule. Which Iâm sure cuts into your very busy tutoring schedule.â
It was delivered with a smile that hide the truth of what she was getting at. Like many others in the castle, she didnât care much for the paperâs recent release, though her reason has more to do with the fact that it dropped secrets she had been holding onto for the right moment. Not to mention some juicy pieces she hadnât known at all. A lot of them were lies, she was sure, but she had to look into the more important ones for any truth that might be hidden in them.

closed starter for @everettandersonsingsâ based on this prompt
By Merlin, how Remus had missed sitting across from his friend, reminiscing the good old days and all the mischief they managed to get into back then. He had always wondered if the few months he had dated James had meant as much to the other as it did for Remus; James never seemed to want to talk about those days. That was, till today...
"Wait, what?" Remus frowned, shaking his head a little, letting the words that James had just uttered replay in his head. He was sure he looked like someone who fell victim to a Confundus Charm, but he didn't care. "Did you just say what I think you said?"
