It had been a couple of weeks since Lily had been released from St. Mungo’s, he had visited her while there and popped by the house a few times. He offered treats and to watch Harry when needed trying to do what he could for his friends. It didn’t seem like enough but he didn’t have anything else to offer as all Lily needed now was time. Her physical wounds were healed for the most part but those of the mind would take more time to fade though he was sure they would never completely go away. He wanted to say the right thing to help but he wasn’t sure what that was. For now, he owled Lily to ask if she wanted to spend a day outside, thinking it might be good for her to get some fresh air and they would keep it nearby. Lily had agreed to it and that was how he found himself standing outside their door.

He knocked, before sending a patronus in to let Lily know it was really him and that it was safe to open the door. He was sure she had to be anxious over the whole thing, not sure that she had been outside since the event. Lily was strong though and it would take little steps to slowly get her back to normal, to feel comfortable being out in the world again. When the door opened he smiled, not sure if he should hug her or not, if her injuries still caused pain so he just hovered outside. “Hey Lils, how are you feeling?” There was a small basket at his side having packed some treats for them to enjoy the afternoon.

It was early still but he was caught somewhere the worlds of dreaming and waking, too tired to be awake but too anxious to sleep. Nights of tossing and turning thinking about the plan and Sirius in the line of fire knowing he wouldn’t come out of this unscathed. Lily and James would be on the sidelines at least, so there were two less people to worry about.

A knock sounded on his door and he yawned poking his head out from under the covers as he heard Lily’s voice. He reached for his wand before pointing it at the door so it swung open. He didn’t feel like moving from the cosy embrace of the blankets as he peered up at Lily. “Going to have to put on some tea if you want me to be awake at this hour,” he teased sleepily trying not to seem ungrateful for all of her hard work. “Or you can lie down for a moment as well,” he offered holding up one end of the blanket.

She hadn’t known if she was going to be able to finish it on time, but after a few late nights, Lily was happy to be sneaking back into Remus’ home, biting her lip as she tried to make sure she didn’t disturb anyone who might be asleep or not expecting her. Prancing over to his bedroom, Lily softly knocked on his door. Wincing a little at the unavoidable sound, how large in seemed in the quietness of the house. It was worth it though, if it meant that Lily could be a little more assured that Remus would be safe the next day. She stopped herself from shuddering at the premise of The Next Day, of all the things that the Order was planning to achieve. Of Sirius, and Alice, and Emmeline- she had to stop herself before her eyes started to sting.

“Open up silly-” Lily whispered, drumming her fingertips against his door. “I’m here.”

Lily came straight into her daughter’s room and sat on the bed, reaching out to Amelia. “Hey honey. How’s all your Hogwarts homework coming along? You know you can always ask me or your dad for help on any of it right?”

Lily wasn’t quite sure how she ended up hanging upside down. She just knew that she was feeling affectionate with it. Which is exactly how she ended up coaxing Narcissa over to her. With a grin on her face, Lily managed to gently kiss the other girl- while still being upside down.

“Remus, I think that’s absolutely brilliant. Where on Earth did you come up with an idea like that?” Lily asked, a grin playing at her face. Out of the four boys, Lily felt more close with Remus than the other three. James could be arrogant most of the time, and she liked Sirius, she just didn’t like how immature he was. Peter wasn’t someone that she could easily talk to though.
