“Come on, let’s just go to sleep.”

Aspen wiped her hands across her cheeks and fought off the urge to throw her phone across the room. She wanted to blame the pregnancy hormones for getting so worked up about this but she knew they weren’t all to blame. Her ex was a giant asshole and he always had been, she didn’t know why it had taken her so long to see that. Thank god for Nova, though, in a time like this. Her best friend was the only person in the world that could make Aspen forget about the conversation she’d just had and focus on what was most important. The baby was most important. Not it’s horrible piece of shit father. “Okay,” Aspen replied, giving Nova a weak smile. “Let’s just sleep.” Nova made a far better big spoon than her ex ever did.

A: Do they have any pet peeves?: When people touch her belly without asking (when shes pregnant, of course), when her ex used to leave his dirty clothes a foot away from the laundry basket, small continuous noises 

S: Do they read their horoscope?: Sometimes but not actively 

P: Where do they see themselves in five years?: Happy with her baby and with Nova! Being a good mama :’) 

E: Do they have a good relationship with their siblings?: She loves her siblings very much but she hasn’t lived in the same city as them in a few years. They were very close when they were growing up though and she calls them regularly 

N: How do they feel about politics?: She doesn’t pay as much as attention as she should

“you said the same thing last time.”

“I know I did...” Aspen sighed and hung her head. She didn’t know how Nova put up with her, honestly. She was constantly going on and on about how much she hated her ex and how done she was with him and then she’d go and meet him for coffee or take his phone call. Then she’d come home upset and tell Nova all about it. Aspen kept saying she was done over and over again but there was something that kept her going back to him... the baby, probably. “But I really want to mean it this time.” She really wanted to be done with him. She wanted to stop seeing the disappointment in Nova’s eyes every time she told her where she’d been. 

Aspen took Nova’s hands in hers and held them to her chest. “Seriously, I’m done.” She offered a weak smile. She wasn’t going to let that douche of a guy come between her and Nova. Never ever.
