For Liifa (and whoever else you want to ramble about, I'm here to listen): 1, 14, 23

hello !! I'll answer these for Liifa & Quinn!

1. How good are they in combat? Can they handle themselves in most fights? Is there anything that hinders them or acts as an exploitable weakness?

Liifa: He's... alright! Liifa is what I'd definitely call low strength, high magic. If he's able to get into Shroud, he does well and can handle himself. Outside of Shroud, he's much easier to - well, squish. Close combat is bad for him unless he gets into Reaper Shroud, but most of the time he uses his Scourge Shroud and abilities since he's much more comfortable with those.

Quinn: She relies more on her weapons than her magic, so she's good in a practical fight, whereas she falls a little short in more magical fights. A notable weakness is that she's very afraid of Necromancer Shrouds, and undead! :)

14. Is there any particular quirk to their magic? Is there something they can't do with their magic that others usually can? Is there something they can do particularly well?

Liifa: He doesn't use ice magic at all, and uses primarily fire-adjacent magic to go with his Scourge abilities. He's good at utilizing his Shroud and has figured out how to stay in it for longer, however he gets weaker as he pushes his time farther and farther.

Quinn: She has an odd sixth sense for Undead for a Thief. Her bloodline provides her with a strong sense of Necromancy, but it's not something that she's actively delved into and trained since she was a kid. As for something usual that she can't do, I've not thought about it much! I never use Trap skills with her, so maybe she can't "set" her magic down for things like traps!

23. What utility skills do they tend to use? Is there any they can't use for lore reasons?

Liifa: I've not put much thought into this, tbh! In-game, Liifa's one of my few necromancers where I use Corruption skills, and he's supposed to use Epidemic, but instead I have that Sand Snakes ability there,, for the vibes. And also because I'm bad at using Epidemic at the right times lmao, so maybe he's just not familiar with how to spread conditions from one enemy to another, he just applies them to everyone in range of his Sand Shades!

Quinn: All signets baby !!! Typically, at least. She's got a build for each Elite Spec, but she's primarily a Specter! She's scared of her own Shroud because it reminds her of Necromancer Shrouds :) She's able to use it eventually, but it takes years for her to work through her fears about it and give it regular tries. (That are on-purpose, at least! Sometimes she pops Shroud without meaning to and scares herself akjsndsgfjdf)

Liifa = Sable !!! Look at those ears... the little eyes and nose... Sables are so perfectly shaped imo AND they're related to ferrets and weasels! They're capable of being very silly!! Liifa has small shapeshifter rights because of (gestures) Demon Deals and whatnot, so he has sable shenanigans :3 his shenanigans are mostly for sneaking into his partner's bags/pockets to sleep or stealing baked goods ♥

QUINNIE !! (tbh at this point you might be her biggest fan next to Tres and it warms my heart so so much !! my silly mundane girlie ♥)

Quinn's Route could potentially be very fun!! She lightly frequents a few bars around DR and LA, but it's also not uncommon for her to wander around in the middle of the night, and to be off on her Whispers Agent missions! Man, wouldn't it suck if you met her while she was undercover so she had to lie to you about a bunch but you both hit it off really well regardless?? <- Not the take I'm gonna use here but it occurred to me and now I want to put her in such an AU fdfksjdnf - She's a part-time bartender in Divinity's Reach, so maybe you meet her at the bar one time! Regardless of which side of the counter she's on, she's very friendly and nice! When working, she's diligent about her responsibilities, but if you prove to be fun conversation then she'll do things a bit quicker just to have a few more seconds to chat with you! - You're gonna have to be either chill or affectionate towards cats, and you can't talk down to her about her bar job! ;w; She loves her job and has an absolute ball with it most days, so talking down about working in a bar in any form is going to be a huge turn-off for her !! Same thing with cats; you gotta at least be nice to her baby boy Pepper!!

(apparently i have WAY more to say about her than i THOUGHT i would. so !! readmore in the middle lmao)

[Fun fact continuation!] - She loves spontaneous outings!! Little adventures in between everyday life is what keeps her happy and goin'!! She'll likely try to invite you to some late-night street exploration, or dropping into some party she heard conversation about, or even just running around some woods at night!! Even better if you're the one who suggests something spontaneous first!! - Quinn's a huge sucker for sparring and duels as well; if you're the combat / adventurer type like she is, she'll absolutely want to spar with you and it is absolutely bonus points if you go through with it! A bonus for YOU is that she typically banters and flirts during duels. >:) - But she is OBLIVIOUS to flirting!! yours OR her own!! She's dumb!! She is absolutely the person that you could flirt with in increasingly obvious ways, and she would absolutely think that you just Really enjoy her company!! (Literally, her husband [who ive been ignoring for the sake of this bc his involvement would prompt It's Own Route ♥] was taking her on dates and giving her kisses and even calling her Dearheart and she never got it until he wrote her a whole ass love letter. She's THAT level of oblivious!!)

Good Ending: The trick to getting the good ending requires one thing: Being Very Direct With Her. As previously stated: Quinn is a total airhead about love. You could literally be making out with her on the couch and she would just think that you're great buddies who are hella comfortable with each other!! Being direct with her is going to give her a small crisis, but mainly in the "oh gods i've never been in a relationship before" department; the good news is: Even if she's hella bad at the whole relationship thing at first, she is undoubtedly going to give it her all. :3 This is definitely a girlie who's good ending finishes out with a wedding tbh, or at least a "years later" wedding bonus scene

Neutral Ending: Basically achieved but just. Not Saying Anything, lmao. You could be flirting with her, you could also not be flirting with her! Either way, platonic ending, basically! :D you'll still get to share your late night adventures and do spontaneous shit together, you're just (probably) not kissing in alleyways on your way home and whatever.

Bad Ending: you just?? don't hit it off that well i guess?? or you were mean to her cat, or about her job. :( She's not like a vengeful person so nothing all that exciting would happen here tbh! it'd be more like a gentle drifting apart! Unless you mistreated her on purpose and her brothers find out ♥ then you suffer at their hands, and that might be exciting! KSDJFNS

Liifa’s calm about it !! he’s checking to make sure there’s no little hitchhikers on him and then just brushing it off whdjwb If there is, he’s gently returning them to whatever he just accidentally cleared the web off of!

Quinn is STRESSED. a Frenzy. She’s the person who just goes ‘AAGH’ and is swiftly wiping at her arms and Complaining !! she wants a shower now :(

🍴: Weirdest thing they've eaten?

Phoenix… You know that hero point in Orr with the unidentified liquid at the bottom of a river?? That. Absolutely. She also ate the toxic bacon in HoT but I feel like drinking the weird jelly liquid is weirder !!!

Qlikk,, hm!! He’s eaten part of a chak before. :) Thought it’d be fun !! in reality it gave him a tummy ache but it did taste “sparkly” !!

Quinn!! QUINNIE !! okay okay, so. Important context about Quinn: she’s in my personal AU, but under Commander Phoenix! :D 'Saoirse Quinn' is AU’s where she doesn’t end up the Commander!! She doesn’t get tested on so she doesn't get amnesia, so there are some key differences but she’s still my little blorbo <3 <3 <3

Bonus: since I let Spotify pick for me via music, so here’s what came up that made me think of her!! Mainly, this always makes me think of Quinn and her brother Ambrose !! <3 <3 <3 they’re very close and i love them to Death !!! (Ambrose is, ofc, owned by @mavelleofdawn !! there's art of him guys. art !! he's a cutiepie i love him sm !!)

2. What class would your character just absolutely blow at?

I feel like mesmer… On one hand: she gets kinda tormented by a mesmer during her childhood, (in most AU’s at least,) so she’s pretty scared of them already, and on the other hand: I feel like mesmer requires some sense of a delicate hand. It’s shown to be very graceful and effective, but most effective when gone about with some kind of elegance and self-assurance… Quinn has neither of those, naturally. :’D She’s so incredibly reckless and so very physical in fights - she would die as a mesmer so fast akjshdush

4. Assuming they're a commander, how close were they really to Destiny's Edge? To Trahearne?

This is true for her Commander AU’s and non-Commander AU’s where she still ends up in the Pact: She sees Destiny’s Edge as these huge, big shot heroes, but she sees Trahearne as an absolute nerd, phrased in the most affectionate way possible! So, not very close to DE on a personal level at all, but very close to Trahearne! She feels like she has to either impress DE, or stay way the fuck out of their way. With Trahearne, he reminds her a lot of her brother Artemas (@/mavelleofdawn again! ^^) so he’s gonna get the brotherly treatment!! that’s just how it is!! She’d gently prank him sometimes and tease him about things, but ultimately she’d listen to him pretty well because he does know what he’s talking about! (The same goes for her relationship with Artemas <3)

10. Would/does knowing their backstory change how people (in general but also Tyria at large) view them?

It depends on the AU!!

In my personal stuff, where she's separated from the rest of the Teelings (</3) she ends up an orphan in DR. Adopted by Noble family that she runs away from because they're terrible and the "mom" only got her to hide the fact that their young daughter got murdered by their son,,, whoopsie !! But uh, that backstory is pretty tragic and anyone who knows it tends to pity her, which she hates, so she hides her background a lot!

Per my AU's with @/mavelleofdawn (well, most of them at least!) - Quinn gets stolen back from the Noble family by her older siblings!! They uh. split ways at one point because haha brotherly issues am i right?? but Quinn sticks with Ambrose for the most part! ... im now realizing that there are vague ideas beyond that but nothing solid... are there AU's she joins him in the Aetherblades?? :thinking: that could be fun-- OH!! but to answer the question!! Her background still sounds rough, and i think it'd still get her some pity from people for the rough childhood, but in those AU's she's got a lot more going on so she's less likely to notice akhdashdkaj
