oh it happens All The Time, but a few instances i remember clearly are:

finding hyakken fukuzawa's theme song, "sleepwalk" by forrest day, in a warrior cats animatic and going "oh my god it's literally him" and immediately making it his new theme song, switching it from the old one ("bulletproof" by la roux, which is still on his playlist)

recently, "vampire empire" by big thief has become a Big makoto fukuzawa song, for when she's still dealing with her (current as of the hateful eight timeline, but soon to be ex) abusive gf's shit. poor girl

and even more recently, "army dreamers" by kate bush for muruwa taoka, the oldest of the fukuzawa house ghosts, about some of the other fukuzawa house ghosts! kate bush's voice is also close to what i've imagined muruwa's to sound like
