Could It Be Magic
Tumblr media
The Kate Daniels urban fantasy series finished with Magic Triumphs a couple of years ago. It was so popular that the author has continued the story with additional self-published novellas, including this one.
Up till now, I haven't had much luck with self-published works: the quality is mostly lacking (severely in some cases). That isn't the case with this book. It stands right up with the traditionally published novels, and the fact that it is set after the main series works to its advantage: Kate, Curran and Conlan have left Atlanta and moved to the coast city of Wilmington, and the result is a back-to-basics reset. Kate isn't saving the city of Atlanta and/or the entire world. She's going up against one local supernatural baddie and solving one local supernatural problem. This may change later (assuming these novellas keep coming, which I hope they will) but this is a much lower-key plot than the main series, especially the final few books.
Having said that, the key elements of the main series are still there: Kate's snarky, sarcastic humor and total badassery, combined with the welcome addition of Curran and Conlan POV sections. (Although the author sure seems to love her C and K names--sometimes I wished the names weren't so similar.) This world is one of the most detailed, intricate and fascinating of any urban fantasy series, and I welcome a chance to explore it further, from a setting on the fringe of the main world, as it were. At the same time, this is a taut, self-contained story with excellent pacing. (And who can resist Cuddles the mammoth jenny? Apparently mammoth donkeys are a real thing in the world, although it is of course exaggerated for Andrews' magic-laden near-future.) I appreciated the tradpub editorial quality of this book, and will buy any others the author releases.

Forrest Gump: Jenny Curran [ESFP]
Tumblr media
UNOFFICIAL TYPING BY; Anonymous
Extroverted Sensing (Se): Ever since she was a little girl, Jenny has always dreamed of flying away like a bird and experiencing all that life to offer. As an adult she finally gets the chance to do so; becoming the ultimate nomad and free-spirit. Unfortunately, because of her rough upbringing, Jenny has absolutely no sense of caution and throws herself into one ill-advised situation to another, much to the dismay of Forrest.
Introverted Feeling (Fi): Jenny’s inner world of emotion is very deep and she abides by it. She also doesn’t allow anyone “in” so to speak, as even Forrest has a hard time getting through to her. She tries to dismiss the atrocities she has gone through as a child but when she revisits her childhood home, it becomes very apparent how she feels.
Extroverted Thinking (Te): She can have a mean streak of assertiveness to her. Jenny is independent and doesn’t like to be told what to do, convincing herself that she fully knows what she’s doing and what she’s getting herself into, no matter what. She constantly gets angry with Forrest when he “rescues” her, harshly telling him that this is just “How it is”.
Introverted Intuition (Ni): Jenny’s journey through life almost appeared ill-fated from the beginning. Making one reckless choice after another and ignoring impending consequences, she ultimately pays the price for her lifestyle. By the time she is ready to settle down and move on to a new, more mature phase of her life, it’s unfortunately already too late.

Windward House
Location: Gloucestershire, South West England, UK
Design: Alison Brooks Architects
Windward House in Gloucestershire
Alison Brooks completes a monumental house and living art gallery high above the Wye Valley
13th of August 2020 – Alison Brooks Architects’ latest house is set atop the highest point in Gloucestershire, overlooking the Wye Valley. The result of a ten-year collaboration, this new house and landscape project celebrates domestic living amongst an extraordinary collection of Indian and African Tribal Art. It includes the restoration and conversion of a late Georgian farmhouse to a Gallery and office, a new fully accessible ‘West Wing’, a sequence of walled gardens and a new Pool Gallery.
Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Brooks likes to describe Windward House as ‘a gallery with people living in it’, where the owners’ art collection are like friends and family sharing the spaces of daily life. The house is also a journey. Intertwining old and new, its sequence of rooms, buildings and landscapes tell a story from the 18th C to today. Light is sculpted and funnelled from above and walls unfold, framing epic views across the meadows and forests to the Severn River. Art works from the collection animate this journey occupying plinths, ramps, niches and staircases.
The restored Windward Farmhouse acts as an historic threshold. Mirror-polished steel cladding announces its transformation, dissolving the mass of the original building’s stone walls in reflections of the garden. Beyond the farmhouse the new West Wing is a shadowy, quiet backdrop; its dark tones and cladding pattern inspired by the nearby Forest of Dean. The entire right half of the farmhouse has been opened to create a triple height gallery. A walnut-panelled mezzanine and wood-burning fireplace echo the collection’s material qualities.
Seen from the south, the two-storey West Wing is set back, low-lying and partially embedded in the hillside, deferring to the 18th farmhouse. The volume of the extension is positioned to interlock with the existing stone building. This creates intimate courtyard spaces between high garden walls sheltered from the pervasive wind. Serving as the owner’s primary living space, the West Wing is a variation of the atrium house typology and a nine-square structural grid, undulating in three dimensions to echo the topography of adjacent meadows. A deep first floor roof terrace takes in the spectacular view to the south; the double height living room overlooks a sloped pool of grasses. It’s gently sloping green roofs are planted with native species of wildflowers.
Inside, the West Wing is filled with light, open to the landscape and adapted to the needs of later life. Its sequence of double height spaces offers a variety of light conditions and spatial qualities to accommodate sculptures, masks, shields, temple doors and paintings collected over four decades.
The West Wing’s pigmented concrete floor was conceived as a moulded terrain upon which discreet objects rest: stone grotto, timber-clad service ‘pod’, steel staircase, looped plinths. Living, dining and cooking areas flow into each other and onto exterior terraces. The plan revolves around the concrete and marble kitchen island reflecting the owners’ dedication to entertaining and cooking for friends and family. Washed with light from above, this vantage point enjoys both visual connection to the first-floor gallery and panoramic views to the four cardinal directions. Gardens, seasons and weather stage a continuously changing scenography.
Brooks’ ‘Stair for 100 Objects’ is an installation in itself. Each tread is a 6mm thick ‘loop’ horizontally cantilevered from the stair’s central spine, a vertical steel grillage with 100 cells to display the owner’s treasured small works. Moving upward into light, the stair leads to a first floor gallery, bedrooms, study and a roof terrace. Every space offers perspectives both outward and inward, through rooms and across gardens.
The Pool Gallery is the culmination of the journey. Approached via a garden path, it is a stone-walled courtyard open to the sky. One wall has been ‘thickened’ to become a building containing changing facilities, guest accommodation, display space and storage. A quiet retreat for art, guests, and grandchildren, the pool gallery celebrates local traditions of field stone masonry and precision carpentry.
Surrounding Windward House are 8.5 hectares of land. A large portion of this is wildflower meadow and orchards that are part of the owners’ long-term programme to restore and optimise the ecological value of the whole area. The landscape strategy includes ongoing repair and renewal of 2.5km of hedges with pollen-rich species and the planting of 2,500 trees.
The Client, David Clifford comments: “Working with Alison Brooks and her project architects has been exhilarating. It has been a tremendous learning process. Our first lesson was that modern houses are designed from the inside. For we who had always lived in Georgian or Victorian houses this was a novel idea.”
Project Areas
Site (incl buildings): 2.74 ha Garden (not incl. buildings): 2.68 ha
Original House GIA: 220 sqm West Wing GIA: 309 sqm Pool House GIA: 94 sqm Total GIA: 623 sqm
Sustainability Summary
The strategy for Windward House was based on reducing energy consumption, excellent thermal envelope and avoiding the use of solid fuel heaters. Therefore, the house does not consume any energy from solid fuels: Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP), Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)s and Solar Thermal Panels provide the heating and hot water requirements. Electricity consumption is reduced by solar photovoltaic panels.
The main house has a GSHP from Ecoforest, a model which was designed to contain the latest advances in efficiency and economy. Also, the restored farmhouse has solar thermal panels fitted to the roof. The West Wing is an extensive green roof reducing rainwater runoff, and has been planted with native wildflowers to support local biodiversity.
The pool pavilion is served for heating and hot water by an ASHP and a separate ASHP warms the swimming pool water. The swimming pool is black which provides 4ºC advantage over the conventional blue pool and the cover on the pool is designed to act as a solar thermal transmitter. In addition, there is a 4.5kWp solar PV system on the roof of the pool pavilion. Lastly, natural ventilation is provided to mitigate overheating.

Their approach embraces the development of authentic solutions for buildings and urban developments, each with a distinct identity that has led to the practice gaining recognition as international design leaders.
This has produced a portfolio of projects of distinct identity encompassing urban design, housing, education and buildings for the arts. The work of Alison Brooks Architects has attracted international acclaim for its conceptual rigour, sculptural quality and ingenious detailing, best exemplified by the spectacular new Cohen Quadrangle for Exeter College, Oxford. The practice’s growing body of public work includes The Quarterhouse Performing Arts Centre, Folkestone and The Smile, the hugely successful Landmark Pavilion for the 2016 Design Festival which received over 30,000 visitors in just four weeks.
ABA has been selected to contribute installations for the Venice Biennale four times, including ReCasting in 2018, and Home Ground in 2020. Our largest project to date, The Passages in Vancouver, is a one million square meter mixed use city block in Vancouver. NOTES ON THE ARTWORK:
Staircase for a hundred objects (photos 27-30)
The piece in the single open niche is a cup from the Kuba people now in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a cup for drinking palm wine. At the court of the Kuba titleholders, drinking vessels were a vital accessory of great symbolic value. This ornately carved wooden cup combines human and animal forms to communicate ideals of refinement and power. To the right of the Kuba cup is a pottery pipe from the Shilluk, one of the large minority ethnic groups of South Sudan. To the left of the Kuba cup is a Chi Wara from the Bambara people of Mali. The Chi Wara is often represented as a Roan Antelope with an almost human face, but also takes shapes of other creatures and emblems of farming.
The Main Room in the Pool Pavilion (photo 20)
Against the facing wall is a pair of two fine doors from a hunting lodge in the Indian State of Rajasthan. These date from the 15th/16th Century and are made from an exceptionally hard and heavy wood as well as iron and brass. On each side of the doors are a pair of masks, one black, one white. These are Punu masks from Gabon. Barely visible on the left-hand wall is a large oil painting by Josef Herman executed in 1962/63. It shows a mother and child. The dark object to its right is a very unusual piece from the Luba people of the Congo. This is probably late-19th Century and the mother and child carved are the Madonna and Jesus. Christian objects from Africa created on this era are rather few. The large rug is from Swaziland. The colours are those of the Karoo, the very dramatic semi-desert of Southern Africa. The rug was made at the studio of Coral Stephens.
The Ramp To The Main Living Area (photo 33)
On a far wall is a large portrait by Josef Herman “Miner With a Cup of Tea”. The miner’s face resembles an African mask. In 1938 Josef left Poland; first for Brussels then Paris and then to Glasgow and London. In 1944 he moved to Ystradgynlais, a small mining community in Wales. Two more of Josef’s paintings, another of a miner and the other of peasant women in Mexico, are on the left-hand wall. The most unusual work in this area is the one closest on the left-hand wall. The artist was Tadek Beutlich for whom The Guardian published a full-page obituary in 2011.
Upper Gallery (photo 37) On the left the reflection of a window in Two Whiting, a print by Patrick Caulfield. On the right a part of an Ethiopian oil painting showing a narrative from The Old Testament. In the centre is a dramatic helmet mask reminiscent of an Elisabeth Frink sculpture. The mask is another from the Congo, this time from the Kuba people.
Lower Gallery (photos 38-39)
The dominant piece here is the 15 panelled door, with narrative carving in each panel. This is from in or around the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh in the centre of the sub-continent. It was carved by the Gond tribal people. In Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh there’s a magnificent, recently constructed museum dedicated to the hitherto neglected work of the Tribal peoples of India. On the left is a white Fang mask, formerly in the collection of Josef Herman and on the right is a very good example of a granary door from the Dogon tribe of Mali.

Milford’s historical charter commission
A number of reforms were proposed (and defeated) at this spring’s town meeting in Milford.  Now seems like a good time to recall the 1970s effort to approve a charter for Milford, and see what we can learn from it.
All info comes from the Milford Town Library, either their microfilm archive of the Milford Daily News, or their online archive of annual town reports.
It has been fifty years since we last examined how our town is governed; are we due for a re-examination?
TEXT OF PROPOSED CHARTER
TIMELINE
October 1969: Town Government Study Committee supports home rule charter commission March 2, 1970: Town votes, 3937 - 1439, to elect a charter commission. (Also vote to discontinue fluoridation.)  More than 7,000 people voted. March 18, 1970: Appropriates $12,000 to charter commission for consultants. October 30, 1970: Charter Commission preliminary report printed in Milford Daily News January 4, 1971: Charter Commission delivers final report March 1, 1971: Town votes, 3807 - 2744, to reject the proposed charter.  More than 7,600 people voted. 1975: Board of Selectmen reappoints Charter Study Commission to allow it to prepare town meeting articles based on its proposed charter. April 25-27, 1977: Town meeting votes on multiple articles from Charter Study Committee.
Article 45 -- to combine Highway, Tree, Sewer, Cemetery, Parks, Planning, and several other departments into a single department of public works -- fails by a voice vote.
Article 46 -- to expand Board of Selectmen from three to five, pending approval from voters at the next town election -- passes by a vote of 98-69.
Article 47 -- to reduce the number of town meeting members from 215(?) to 105, eliminate at-large members, require recording of attendance and votes, establish standing committees, and publish rules of procedure -- fails by a voice vote.
April 3, 1978: Town votes, 2881 - 1692, to reject the proposed expansion of the Board of Selectmen.  Fewer than 5,000 people voted.

Report of the Town Govt. Study Committee (1970 ATM)
The Town Government Study Committee (T.G.S.C.) is a committee appointed by the Selectmen. Its assigned function is to study local governmental structure. On June 18, 1969 the T.G.S.C. held its organizational meeting and elected new officers. In order to obtain a broader representation of our community the committee requested, and on July 14, 1969 the Selectmen approved, the expansion of the committee to twenty-nine members.
Since that time the T.G.S.C. has been addressed by several guest speakers. All are considered prominent authorities in Municipal government. The speakers included Atty. William Leonard an authority on the Home Rule Amendment and Chairman of the Northboro Charter Commission. John Cronin, Executive Secretary of Milton. Mr. Robert O’Hare, Director of the Bureau of Public Affairs at Boston College. Michael P. Curran, Former Chairman of the Home Rule Implementation Committee and presently associated with Municipal Consultants Incorporated.
On August 29, 1969 the T.G.S.C. distributed a questionnaire to our public officials to obtain their opinions on our governmental structure. This survey indicated that many town officials felt a need for further study. As a result of these addresses, the survey and the research of our subcommittees, the Town Government Study Committee on October 29, 1969 unanimously endorsed the establishment of a Home Rule Charter Commission.
Our petition drive to secure the 1489 valid signatures to place the question of a Charter Commission on ballot was successful and as you know the voters of Milford approved the formation of a Charter Commission by a three to one margin.
As stated previously the purpose of the Town Government Study Committee, an appointive committee, is to study local governmental structure. The purpose of the Milford Charter Commission, an elected body, is also to study local governmental structure, and to draw up a charter for Milford. I have discussed the future role of the T.G.S.C. with several of its members and consequently I feel that it would be wise to request the Selectmen to suspend the activities of the T.G.S.C. until the Milford Charter Commission completes its study.
Respectfully submitted,
DAVID P. HAYES Chairman T.G.S.C.
Members of the T.G.S.C. are:
Harris M. Tredeau, Vice Chairman; Julie A. Rizoli, Secretary; George F. Belforti, Edward C. Carroll, Richard B. Carter, Fred W. Clarridge, Atty. Anthony N. Compagnone, Salvatore P. Cimino, George F. Daniels, F. Michael DeManche, Jr., Mary A. DiBattista, Stanley Jones, Joseph P. Fopes, Roy Fovell, Jennie Macchi, Samuel J. Mancuso, Harold E. Marcus, Atty. William F. McAvoy, Paul F. McCormack, Dr. Nicholas F. Micelotta, Michael J. Noferi, Robert F. Pagnini, John A. Pilla, John P. Pyne, Albert C. Sayles, Jean M. Shores, John N. Smith, Mary M. Zacchilli.

REPORT OF THE MILFORD CHARTER COMMISSION
Board of Selectmen Town Hall
Milford, Massachusetts
January 4, 1971
Gentlemen:
The nine member Milford Charter Commission was elected at the annual election last March for the purpose of drawing up a Charter (Constitution) for the Town of Milford. The Town Meeting appropriated $12,000 to assist us in our work.
Since the election of the Charter Commission in March, the Commission has conducted fifty meetings. One of our initial decisions was to engage Municipal Consultants Inc., a leading authority in the state in the field of home rule. During the ten month period since its election, the Commission has conducted two public hearings, interviewed town officials, studied the various alternatives open to us and finally drafted the preliminary report which was published in the Milford Daily News on Friday, October 30, 1970.
The final report is the result of nearly three years study by both the Town Government Study Committee and the elected nine member Charter Commission.
Briefly stated, the most significant changes to our present system of government included in the charter are as follows:
(1) It establishes the position of town administrator, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, and responsible for the day to day administration of town affairs.
(2) It provides for a new fiscal management procedure including a capital improvement program for long-range planning. Also provided for are centralized purchasing, inventory control and continuing supervision for all departmental budgets.
(3) It provides for a new consolidated department of public works. Under this department the responsibilities of the present highway, sewer, tree and other departments concerned with maintenance will be merged.
(4) It increases the membership of the Board of Selectmen from three to five members to broaden the base of its authority, and it increases the membership of the School Committee from six to seven members.
(5) It provides many improvements relative to the Representative Town Meeting, such as a continuous meeting; recording of votes; a standing committee system; publication of rules of procedure, and the appointment of a deputy moderator. It also establishes that voters in each precinct will be required to elect only seven town meeting members from each precinct each year for three year terms, for a total membership of 105. Chapter 43B of the General Laws requires that a Charter Commission must submit its final report to the Board of Selectmen within ten months after its election. Chapter 43B further states that the Board of Selectmen shall provide for the publication and distribution of the Charter and for its submission to the voters at the next annual town election. If the Charter is approved by a majority of the vote then it shall go into effect as stipulated in the Charter.
We of the Charter Commission are confident that we have framed a charter that is truly tailor made to the needs of our community. We strongly feel that it represents the convictions of the vast majority of our citizens, and that it presents a very positive approach to the management of our governmental affairs.
Respectfully submitted,
MILFORD CHARTER COMMISSION DAVID P. HAYES, Chairman HARRIS M. TREDEAU, Vice Chairman JULIE ANNE RIZOLI, Clerk ANTHONY J. BRENNA ANGELO A. CALAGIONE SALVATORE P. CIMINO JOHN C. DALTON EDWARD PATRICK DOHERTY JOHN P. PYNE, JR.

1. Bubba Gump
It was Forrest’s good friend at war Bubba whose lifelong dream was to reign over the shrimping business. He even invited Forrest to join him once they were at least freed from the war. Sadly, Bubba died in Vietnam.
But Bubba would be pleased to know that his legacy lives on! In real life, you can patronize any number of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. locations across the United States and around the world. Countries that boast locations include China, Japan, Mexico, and Malaysia.
3. A Mock Vietnam
Obviously, the war scenes were not shot in Vietnam. It was all Hollywood magic that achieved that atmosphere: the muddy ground, the raucous jungle, the reedy swamps. So how did they do it?
Believe it or not, the Vietnam War scene in Forrest Gump actually unfolded on a golf course on Fripp Island, just off the coast of South Carolina. To give the sprawling green that earthy Vietnam jungle feel, CGI worked its magic.
4. A Confusing Death
In the film, Forrest’s love interest, Jenny Curran, falls victim to an unknown virus and tragically died just one year after the two are married. The virus is never named but since it took place during the height of the AIDS crisis in the United States, the audience was left assuming she died of the AIDS virus.
But that isn’t what the author had in mind when he wrote the book. In Groom’s sequel novel, Bubba & Co., the author reveals that Jenny was actually infected with hepatitis C from her drug usage.

I usually start the year review with some proverb or word of wisdom from some language i'm interested in.  this year the only quote that matters the Quote of the year for me. comes from @Jon_Cor at Forsaken "Nothing is ever infact a fact." but it didn't really work as a title. so "2017 review" it is,
Note
that its not obvious to beging with, but I have to state here and now, that all things I say in this run down of my year, are my opinion, and mine alone, I speak for no other creature but myself. so. to the buisness of year reviewing
Conventions:
Not as many as I would like, but enough to review :D
Forsaken- the uk's first (and most likely last) Shadowhunter verse convention
badly advertised, not very organised, attendees a mix of news and plastics, but past that - Joel labelle, Kaitlyn Leeb, Maxim Roy and Jon Cor...omfg!Jon was my reason if I needed one (besides the fact it was Shadowhunters) He was so awesome, didn't think I was odd for loving Hodge, Wasn't too offended when I told him he'd answered a question meant for Joel but I'd not stopped him because his answer was awesome, signed 3 things for me and even high fived me when I told his PA I wasn't into Disney that I liked broken and dark people, like Hodge.and... He got Hodge! I mean
really
got/gets him! more than any fan or actor I've ever spoken too.Since he's no longer in the show I doubt I'll get another chance to meet him but it was so... so worth the other crap (attendee caused I hasten to add)Kaitlyn recognised me as Meliorn and loved that I was openly not a Malec person and I scared Joel and Maxim with the circle blades Clare made, Jon loved them, didn't help the others though, telling everyone they were projectiles as well as hand to hand weapons."
nothing is ever in fact a fact."
Jon said during the con. but this is: Forsaken for me was the last decent Rogue con I would ever attend
Ultimate's 2 / Collectormania 24
- So we bought tickets to Starfury Ultimate's for Allys birthday, (50) but I didn't really see more than the opening and closing ceremonies and the parties, as we stayed at Allys and travelled in, but also because on the Saturday we drove down to Birmingham to Collectormania 24 (the first CM in its new home of Birmingham) so Ally could meet her AOS crush Ming Na Wen (Chun Lee, Street fighter) and I could finally meet Reverb/Vibe actor Carlos Valdes, my costume was in tatters since the back of my jacket has peeled but I took my shades to show my place as a viber. On the way to the con, Heather, who had purchased a photo with Carlos (I was settling for an auto and meeting him due to coin and said costume issues) was considering poses, I said I wish I'd brought Cyane, a gorilla teddy that my mother gave me as it would have worked for a Grodd substitute, she said maybe next time, but fate is funny, and when we stopped at the services she came across a littler Gorilla plushie with sparkly purple eyes, now, with Grodd/Vibe/Heathers love of Teddies and the fact the birthday woman has a major thing for purple. I still say it was fated.  she didn't think she had the coin, but since I'd budgeted to hell with meets and autos I did and bought it for us both. but didn't name it. after discussing the craziness of the idea we handed the naming to Carlos himself, since his character Cisco is the Meta-namer on the show. I cringe every time I think of his choice but he said it, so its law. sat next to Hugin on my shelf waiting for my next flashverse meet is a little gorilla called "Wriggle Rump."So I met Carlos and he gave my Reverb shades the Vibe seal of approval (just need a new Jacket).Ally met Ming, didn't drool, picked a picture of her on a motorcycle as her 8x10 (ming + bike = happy birthday girl) and we met Carly in full Stahma gear (pre Jaime being announced for Enchanted).
Smaller cons
were in small number for one reason and another this year:I did Wales Spring, MCM Liverpool, Finally got to meet Tony Curran and Casper Zafer at Newcastle Comic Con, Met David Yost and Arthur Darville at Em in Nottingham.
But the one that stands out for best reasons is Wakefield:I never thought there would be a con in my area, let alone one with three cool guests (James McKenzie, Roger Velasco and Justin Nimmo) but it happened, and I also got to work the Leeds Bradford Starfleet table with the C/O's"happened" to have my camera on me so I got nominated as the roving photographer/ part time chair photographer. I was by the chair twice when it counted, once to get Roger and Justin  to pose out of costume and one to have them pose in full Ranger uniform, Justin even asked for a pose he'd done in the show, went to explain and I just beamed "don't need to explain." now...me in full TNG uniform not sure if I looked cliché or just felt it lol but he seemed to get I was a PRIS fan.. somehow despite my geek showing I seem to have earned the friendship of Roger and Justin's agent Kelly, who..well. 2018 will be interesting.
What more can I say but>>>>>
Tumblr media
<<<<I've tried to quantify what happened, into words, I've asked for quotes. and nothing sums up the fall of Rogue Events. especially not for those who attended its swansong
Gigs:
2 plus Whitby where
The Birthday Massacre
played a mix of new and old album.but the stand out of the year has to be
Counterfeit
playing in Leeds. -Finally got to meet Jamie and as expected I made an ass of myself. tried to avoid all mention of TMI but ended up saying #BTA didn't I. anyway. the gig was amazing. the crowd were arseholes. didn't realise they were supposed to use the whole room to dance not just crowd the stage. and when Jamie got down to play "Letter to the lost." they didn't give him or the song the respect they deserved. Will be seeing them next year in Manchester. a city where I have yet to find a badly behaved crowd. but besides the idiots in my local area the band were amazing.I Saw

Other Events in 2017:
Scotland -
After Newcastle Comic con, Heather, myself and my dad went to Scotland for the week, on the way we stopped at a estuary town along the Clyde and I couldn't get Kate Rusbys Drowned lovers out my head.We stayed in Fort William, a stone's throw from GlenFinnan on the shores of Loch Sheil where the Macleod's from Highlander hail from. we visited Eilean Donan Castle used in the movie and the credits of the show, drove by the location of the farmhouse where Conner and Heather lived in the movie and (just to add another fandom) we were on the Loch when the train crossed the Glenfinnan Viaduct used in Harry Potter, it turns out the Viaduct isn't the only potter connection. the loch was the scene of the 2nd test in the Tri Wizard tournament, and one of the inlets (I think that's what they are) lead to where Dumbledore was buried. We also saw the giant Kelpie heads, and visited Edinburgh, but I underestimated just how BIG it is and we didn't get round everything we wanted to there. we are plotting a city only return visit.
McKellen Pride -
Sir Ian McKellen originates from the same town as my Parabatai (Wigan, Lancashire) and he returned this year to open the towns second ever pride and to hold a small audience the night before. Heather scored us tickets: Sir Ian opened with a reading from Lord Of The Rings (the Balrog/you shall not pass scene) he spoke about coming out, working on the stage and in Hollywood,  and playing a widow/dame (strangest sight in history I swear) and read Shakespeare..now I'm an idiot, I recorded him but my speaker was pointed the wrong way so its barely audible but the image is there :D.
Other Fandom Things in 2017

Killjoys

A true friend is one who walks in when the rest of he world walks out:
As always I have to have a section to mark those people who have made this year bareable, the good thing is this year theres no need for a piece on those who've also made it unbearable.SO: to embarrass the hell out of them I am actualy going to name names.through cons and gigs, lunacy and Luls, these few extremly demented downworlders have made this year awesome.  Hunter, Kai, Sarah, Clare, Jennie, Adam, Ashley, Rosie, Taz, Carla, Michelle.A special mention to Sam. who, while in America let me bug her and didn't tell me to go jump. and who i managed to wheedle into organising to go to Milan 2018 the very day she returned from America. 2018 is going to be an experience for both of us lass.
Ally and Heather, what can I say that I don't say so often your tired of hearing it ladies? not sure i'd still be topside if it wasn't for you two sometimes. (and by topside I mean, not in an institution)I am not the expresive type as you know. but you know where I stand when needed... i hop.
Minnie: my little black and grey familliar has had her troubles this year. teeth and liver both givng her jip. but she is still here and barking. and I thiank every angel, watchtower, demon and deitiy for her every chance I get. and I do not care if that is soppy.
Short and sweet?

Desde o lançamento do filme, várias interpretações têm sido feitas acerca do simbolismo político do protagonista. Ele agradece a senhora e imediatamente começa a correr. Pensando a longo prazo, planeja alcançar a cratera Schiaparelli, distante 3.200 km onde pousará a tripulação da próxima missão, a Ares IV, dali a quatro anos. A missão Ares V é lançada. Ficheiro:McFly House.jpg A casa usada como residência dos McFly na trilogia Back to the Future.
