"Oh?" Comments on squid like vampires and other such things fell away as JC mentioned not having magic, "Is that possible?" But he began he to answer that himself, mumbling under breath about genes and punnett squares, what was phenotypically possible as clarity arrived, "Fascinating." Speaking out loud had always been how he worked, figuring things out by having one sided conversations was the norm even if it came off as incoherent ramblings to others. "Activation? Like a trigger? Interesting. I'd like to hear the story," he said without missing a beat, but senses, thankfully, weren't far off, "Oh.. sorry.. I mean if you have time and if you'd like to share. I need to know more about this world, but I'm not going to dig into your life, sorry I tend to get lost in my head and blurt things out before filtering." It felt encroaching in a way, to read up or ask on species that resided here, personal lives deeply tied to magic, can't have one without the other, even the humans here had grown up or grew accustomed to it.
"I'm trying to not fall into the myths and folklore but sirens luring to potential doom, witches with potions and magic are all true. Making sense of fact from fiction is starting to a bit of a mind melting task, the line is... I dunno where it even is. I'm a bit scared to try potions." Fear of the unknown seemed silly when he was enthralled by the ocean and its vastness -- who knew what to expect in the deep waters and magic was a bit like that, though for both preparation was needed before taking the leap. "Some are still up, but they mention abnormal behaviour, nothing magical. If anything I'm the gig stealer," he attempted a laugh but lips barely turned upwards as he explained, "A colleague of mine was here before me but returned with inconclusive evidence and seemed out of sorts memory wise... which now I know to be the effects of the mirage. I didn't want to report my findings so I was taken off the project." Saved from lamenting thoughts on how it all began and where it ended up, Jonah's attention was pulled towards JC and the mentions of the others dreams, "I'm sorry that didn't work out for you, if it means anything you're already a great athlete and would've been amazing at the Olympics and on cereal boxes too." Despite wanting to ask more, Jonah refrained and let out a huff of a laugh, "You know I have none of that with no means of ever having it either." With a sigh and knowing whatever he was about to attempt would be the most pathetic ever, Jonah tried anyway, "Hell, yeah? I.. I can luge?" A proper laugh fell through at that, "See, I can't be helped."
The shift from awkward confidence to comfort when conversation moved to his area of expertise was as clear as the day itself, features relaxed with a easy smile as Jonah nodded, "It is. Oh! They have many distinguishable features, colour, size, shape, mannerisms, it all varies. Yeah pretty much always wanted this, can't see me doing anything else." Fun ocean facts was thought to be a phase, a hyper-fixation but that grew to a career and he loved every second of it. "Oh, I'm not too sure about parasites but bacteria could be an issue? I can look into that for you, if you'd like? I need projects to keep me busy. I do have to add though, despite the strong stomachs, they shouldn't be eating wild mushrooms, some could be toxic."
JC laughed at that, heartily, throwing back his head. "You know, man, that might actually be better. I'm not afraid of vampires. And some of them are already kind of...squid-like anyways." The werewolf put his hands on his hips, but he did not continue to indulge in his own disparaging. Humans, after all, had more about which to worry when it came to blood-drinkers than he did. "I mean, I've always been a werewolf, Jonah. Never had any magic myself. Liked to imagine, though. But when you, uh, when you're born with the wolf gene, it needs to be activated. Pretty much just human before that. It's a long story." He shook his head, but JC decided he would spare Jonah the details of the bar fight that awoke the beast within him. Looking the other up and down, though, he gave a hum. "Sure. I'll be here," Júlio César smiled, flashing his teeth. In truth, he found the reply sort of funny; changing form came so naturally to him now that discomfort around the prospect felt silly. "Yeah, dude, uh...maybe don't think too hard about sirens and jumping, though. When it comes to humans, the jumping is usually off boats and cliffs and that kind of thing," he mused. "I know the witches got a potion for that, though. Maybe you ought to try it out?"
The wolf pursed up his lips, giving a low laugh. "Yeah, I could believe that," he ribbed. He raised an eyebrow. "Posts, huh? Sure that's all cleaned up now. Can't have anyone else wandering in trying to steal your gig." At the question, JC gave a low sigh, looking out to the ocean in a moment of genuine wistfulness. He cleared his throat. "I wanted to compete in the Olympics. See the world. Be on cereal boxes. The whole thing," he explained. "Didn't work out that way, but that's life, huh? But you could be an okay skater with a little more practice, you know. Come by the rink some time. Ask for me. I'll hook you up. And no offense, bro, but you need a shot of self-confidence. Like, come on, you're a smart guy holding your own in ridiculous circumstances. As an honorary wolf, you ought to puff out your chest a little. Say: hell, yeah, I can luge."
A sideways smirk stretching onto his face, JC watched him with a nod. "That's, uh, that's a lot of crabs. I didn't even...how different can they even be?" He was having difficulty imagining enough traits to separate crab 2,000 from crab 2,001. Still, he appreciated the passion; passion got shit done. The revelation of the Jonah crab, though, owned another full-bodied laugh. "Aha! That so? That's a good one. So you always wanted to study this kind of stuff? You know, let me ask you. I'm having some trouble with pack members...chowing down on stuff they shouldn't when turned. Mostly mushrooms and things, and mind you, we've got pretty strong stomachs. But I caught one or two prowling around the riverbank. There parasites or anything we ought to be worried about?"

....GREETINGS FROM NASHVILLE. MUSIC CITY WELCOMES YOU.
Without further ado - here are our acceptances. We are truly overwhelmed by the interest in this RP, and thank you endlessly for your patience. You’ll see below which plots have been assigned to your character(s).
We tried very hard to make sure that we could give everyone the plots they chose, but we ended up with a lot of overlap between plots that had several first choice applications, but those were also backups to several players. Who knew how many muses were prone to having bad days at coffee shops?
There are some muses that we will require additional plots from - meaning you applied to start with 2 but we were unable to find 2 that fit for you. Everyone has at least 1 that was a first choice or backup choice! I apologize if anyone is disappointed with the plots they have been given, or not receiving your first choice, but, again, we did make sure that every plot assigned to every player was in your primary or backup choice. If you’ve been asked to submit a new plot choice, we plan to post a new batch of plots this weekend, so you may select something now or wait until these new plots are posted.
Regardless, we are now ready to receive accounts, so please see the NEW MEMBER CHECKLIST and when you are ready, submit your accounts to the main. We open for interaction tomorrow and will make an announcement when we are ready to do so.

"Fuck health insurance, man. That shit is wild." Noel empathized before pacing around the room. They always needed to be on the move, they couldn't imagine how JC felt cooped up in a hospital room. "Don't you feel like you're suffocating here, dude? But wait. Wait. Roll that back for me." The lighthearted conversation remained due to his confession. "So you have just been eating them? Does no one else in the pack like them?" A small chuckle escaped their lips as they touched their face. "Why did you buy them in bulk? Dude. I'm losing it over here. That's too much. You're funny, you know that, right? But sure, I'll get a whole crate. Honestly, the other dance instructors would probably go crazy for that shit. I'm more of a sweet-tooth kinda snacker, but I'll try everything once." At his invitation, a loud laugh escaped them, only this one wasn't merry, it was incredulous. "Here I thought I was the unexpected one out of the two of us. Thanks for proving me wrong twice now. But yeah, no thanks. If I could be a pack member without having to share my thoughts with everyone I'd join, but... as things are right now. No thanks. It weirds me out. Like. I get the whole family vibe, but there are a lot of things I don't want my family to know about, even more things I don't want other random people to know about. That make sense? Anyways. You were joking, sorry."
Brown eyes observed him intently. "Should I get out of your hair? You might need a nap or something. I don't know what doctors recommend to werewolves. My dad is one but he's never gotten poisoned like this." Truthfully, growing up Noel barely thought about supernatural stuff. Becoming a werewolf definitely made them more interested. Before everything sounded so cool and fun, but the reality was beyond disappointing. "I trust you. I'll help you kick their ass too. Pack member or not, I have your back especially if it involves violence. That's like the only thing I'm good at as a wolf." Noel spoke honestly as if it meant nothing to them, still they paced the room, clearly lost in thought. How could they ensure this never happened again? "Okay, whatever." Rolling their eyes at JC's direction, Noel's pace slowed as they shook their head. "Same here. I want Silas and the Catalyst dead. It'll be hard to stay still until they are six feet under. But you should probably rest. I didn't come here to rile you up. Sorry about that."
JC groaned, his nostrils flaring. "No-name, hospital-brand Jell-O. Who the hell knows? It probably costs ten-thousand dollars a package. The ice rink's health plan is just kind of okay." He grimaced, and while glowering and complaining was easy, some part of him was resolving to try not to do those things. Now, more than ever, he needed others around him, the wolf was realizing. "Look, one of the pack members is vegan. I bought them in bulk for him, and then he didn't like them. But we'd spent money on them, so I started eating them. They're an integral part of my diet now. Do you want any? I can give you, like, a whole goddamn crate." He knit his brow. "You also have an open invitation...should you want to, you know, join up and just pick them up yourself. I'm kidding. I'm not trying to recruit here. This would be a bad place to recruit."
Slumping a big, JC let out a long, tired exhale, a noise that revealed just how fatigued he was. "That's the plan. I'm going to kick their ass. I can't believe it either. I should have fought harder. Got a few good hits in, but..." He trailed off, evidently frustrated more with himself than anyone else.
"Honestly. I didn't have any expectation. I just wanted a truthful answer," JC teased back, raising his eyebrows, but there was no real ire or irritation in his voice. Once upon a time, he would have perhaps been downright challenging to lone wolves, but they were the same, of course. Now, more than ever, wolf needed to rely on wolf. Still, the anger was bubbling in his chest, making his muscles tense. "Yeah, I do. Been like that for a while, hasn't it? I'm tired of this shit."

“Do you want to worry about the Vampire Squid instead?” he asked, “But, don’t actually worry, it’s not vampiric nor a squid. In name only it’s a vampire. No yeah, you are well within reason to do so. I can’t imagine what going from a Witch to a Werewolf would be like, but don’t think it would’ve been easy? Everything here is…intense.” And he was speaking as a outsider, people living here, people with magic he had found to be a bit blasé about it in daily happenings, the comings and goings of life were embedded with magic to the point where it hardly seemed to faze them until things go bad, until they see the dark side and then worry begins. That wasn’t always the case though, he had seen many to be careful, but having cool powers is, well, pretty cool when things stay light. “Exactly. But thank you, though, if ever the need arises to be anything other than this form, I’ll be sure to let you know.” He meant that with respect but there was nothing honest about it and he did not feel remorseful saying so, human he was and human he will be. “I might jump at the chance if you were a Siren and if a thing like that could be possible,” he joked to bring his own thoughts back into levity, “Again, not sure if I’d make good Siren but put me in water and you’ll likely won’t see me again.”
He gave JC a small smile as the question was asked, dropping slowly as he thought on his beginnings, “I followed the fish, if you’d believe it. There had been posts about strange marine behaviour and I was intrigued enough to want to know the cause of it. Found more than I bargained for.” Foolish and hopeful he had been and foolish he still remained, hope had long dissipated. “I know you’re from here, but did you ever want to leave?” Jonah simply nodded along, he knew of the hierarchical system but not in detail, certainly not enough to comment on pack positions. “But see, you’d excel at all the ice ones. That balances it out. I suppose since I’ve already tried ice skating, yeah why not, add luge to the list. Don’t see how that could go wrong,” he delivered with a heavy shake of his head but there was humour mixed in.
“Oh! Yes, so many!” Jonah’s mood shifted almost instantly to a child full of excitement, ready to share their favourite facts, “I think to date we’ve discovered approximately four thousand different species, isn’t that amazing? And we still have so much of the ocean left to explore. I don’t know how many would survive and thrive in such depths but it’s possible and really the possibilities are endless!” Enthusiastic nods were given as JC listed the two he knew, “Yep! As well as Blue Crabs, Mud crabs, oh, the Japanese Spider crab which has the biggest leg span of them all, and on the flip side you have the Pea Crab which is the tiniest. Oh! Oh my god, JC did you know there’s…” he laughed attempting to share the next one, “..there’s also the Jonah crab? A wonderful discovery for young me.”
JC groaned at that. "And here I thought I just had to worry about the magic, man. Now you tell me this. For the record, I'm allowed to complain about it. Half-witch." He gestured at himself, but really, he was largely joking about the threat of the impending squid attack. There was some truth, however, to having to worry about what the other enchantment-inclined species were up to, seeing the destruction one rogue witch had caused. He resolved now to trust wolves and only wolves. Certain humans got a pass too, he decided, only because he could take them in a fight. "Yeah, you're right. You'd be my problem, and I got enough problems," the wolf sighed jokingly, rolling his eyes. "Offer does stand, though. Officially. Cash in any time. I think you'd take the bite and pull through. You're a strong kid." Some part of him felt a genuine need to bolster the pack's ranks; he did not think Jonah would begrudge him some teasing (semi-serious) recruitment. He gave a sharp nod. "You know, I was human myself for half my life. More than half if we're being technical. It's rough. Being surrounded by...all this. I get it. I've never asked you. How'd you find your way to Lunar Cove, Jonah?"
JC laughed at that. "Yeah...yeah, sounds like Nico. Personally, I guess I sort of lead with rank. You woulda known I was second-in-command before we hit the first swell." What was meant to be a self-deprecating joke pained the man in some way; he and the Alpha had butted heads about just this topic. "Maybe I ought to just stick to winter sports, huh? We can get into luge," he quipped, giving a weak sigh. "Are there...are there...a lot of different kinds of crabs? I mean, I know about the king ones and the hermit ones, but...?"

A laugh could not be helped at that, “Did you know some could also turn invisible? Oh, I should say camouflage actually, since this place is actual magic and all, but anyways, active camouflage is a survival strategy for the species. So, I suppose, yeah, watch where you step.” Humour lined his tone as he spoke, there really wasn’t anything to fear but everyone could do with being a little more mindful of creatures, invisible or not. Despite a smile being present, Jonah shook his head deeply, to be anything other than human had never been an option and knowing a different life was present and to a point achievable, he still did not want it, “I mean this with no offence JC, I already function terribly as a human, we don’t want a terrible wolf around.” But he considered JC’s advice about the coalition carefully. He wasn’t sure on what he could possibly have a say in when he knew so little of the happenings but he knew that there was no option other than to stay in Lunar Cove for the foreseeable future, and that would be the driving force of his decision. “No, I understand, I don’t know what the right decision is but thank you for this. It’s a good starting point for me to think about.”
The answer was rather immediate and said with a broad smile, “Oh, he’s good! I was surfing with him before I knew he was the alpha so I didn’t have that angle, I suppose, to compare to, but he’s great at both now that I see this side of him.” The name made his chuckle a little, but really as far as nicknames went for him, he supposed crabwalker wasn’t the worst of them, “That’s alright! There’s also paddle boarding or kayaking, they’re relatively calmer than surfing. I don’t mean to shut your idea down it’s just that I’m terrible with hand-eye coordination and have broken too many glasses to be sure in never trying again,” he replied with another sheepish smile, “I can absolutely teach you about crabs, I’ll try to make it fun but that depends on who we find.”
Júlio César allowed his brow to raise. "That's actually kind of scary, man. You mean, it can just get out and walk around on land? I'm having visions of killer squids coming to get me now. Should we be concerned?" This was all joking, and the wolf delivered it in good spirits. But maybe they would actually take revenge on the amount of seafood he could scarf down to regain his strength after a particularly long full moon. Stretching his arms upward, he offered a weak smile. "Do you really want to know what I think? I think you hang around us wolves enough you ought to consider letting us put some real hair on your chest. Literally and figuratively," he joked rolling his eyes in a way that indicated he really was just playing around. "But...uh, if you're going to stay in Lunar Cove, Jonah, the Coalition is your best chance to have a say in how things go around here. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't join. I really can't advise you there. And I don't always agree with human decision-making. But if you want to...play a role. Be a citizen with a voice. It's not a bad option."
JC hummed, looking out to the ocean himself. "Nico's a good guy. Dunno how he is at surfing." And that somehow hurt JC's heart, that he thought of Nico more for what he was than who he was. But that was the realities of hierarchal life, necessary to maintain order and peace. "Please tell me he made a strong showing and represented us well." JC laughed. "Yeah, I remember, crabwalker." The way the untrained tried to stand up after falling on the ice. "These days, I can't take on the gnarly swells so much. My strength isn't what it once was. Maybe I could boogey-board," he quipped. A deep sigh escaped his lips and he settled more easily into the sand. "Heard. You're looking at me like I asked you to help me hide a body." While this was meant in good humor, there had been too much bloodshed. JC shook his head. "You wanna teach me about actual crabs, crabwalker?"

To that Jonah couldn't help but laugh and gave JC a hum alongside a nod. A talking wolf in a town of other talking creatures, and folks that could talk to creatures. When the concept didn't freak him out, it all fascinated him, the lives of supernatural folks, of magic had only ever been the stuff of fairytales but here they were alive and extremely real. "Oh yes, very intelligent creatures! The one we have at our aquarium keeps finding creative ways to escape her tank, it's sorta become a game now." Jonah shook his head in reply to that, "No, I'm not and I hadn't given it much thought." He wasn't sure on the security, folks that were part of their own circles still were in harms way, but it was a different kind of security he supposed, safety in numbers type of situation. "Do you think I should join?" He would listen to him, after all JC was an advisor to the pack and knew more that Jonah could ever, it'd be foolish to not take the suggestion into consideration at least.
Looking out to the faraway tide, Jonah nodded, "Yeah, I surf. Nico and I caught a few waves a couple times when the weather was warmer." And when times were less clouded with gloom, it was nicer and he wished to go back to those. "We can too sometime, if you're interested? I much prefer moving water to something solid as ice...no offence." He returned with a sheepish sort of smile, ice skating, he realised very quick was not for him and shelved that activity almost instantly after returning from the lesson. He had his hand wrist deep in water, in that in-between of a half squat and half lean against the wrong intent on showing JC more sea creatures when the new proposal hit, "Oh..." he blinked up at the man then down his own hunt and back up again, "Uhh.. sure? If you want? I have to warn you, I'm not good at sports."
Raising an eyebrow, JC gave a low laugh, throwing an arm around the other's shoulder to give it a hearty pat. The human was an "honorary wolf," whatever that meant, but hell, with enough camaraderie, maybe he could convince him to take the plunge. They needed to bolster their numbers anyway. But he would not hold it against Jonah if he did not, not entirely. "I'm literally a talking wolf, man," he replied, stepping back and crossing his arms, offering up an expression of incredulousness. But he had really only done okay in school; he did not know the ins and outs of starfish biology. "Are they now?" The question was polite but not exactly probing; JC was not sure if he could actually take an octopus lesson. He gave an easy nod. "I feel that. It's been rough. You, uh, you a member of the Coalition? It's a pretty secure feeling being around your own kind." Talking up the other groups was not helping his recruitment cause, especially not when he was somewhat sour on the other factions for the moment. "I'll take your word for it. I guess I came here for peace too. You surf? I can surf. Uses some of the same balance as skating." He smiled. "Uh, I'm afraid I don't got a ton of sea creature preferences, nah." He was not sure how Jonah would take his preference being eating them. "You wanna do, like, a pickup volleyball game or something? I'm sure we could wrestle up some people."

At the sight of JC, Jonah relaxed visibly, shoulders slumped as he gave the other a warm smile which turned into a light chuckle at the question, "No no, nothing of that sort," he replied, squatting down to reach for the starfish again, "Or at least I'm hoping it's not? There's not much in their behaviour or mannerisms that point to human like sentience." He couldn't be sure of course, or not now at least, before Lunar Cove he would've dismissed the idea rather easily not knowing these creatures talk back helped greatly in that but in this town there were some that could talk to animals and despite all the research in the world nothing would ever beat a fact straight from the source. "Octopus, however, are a different story." And lest he dive into that topic and bore JC mere minutes into his arrival by the pools, Jonah shook his head to stay on topic, "Nothing specific, even if I were to look for something I wouldn't know what. Just needed something else to do asides sit and think on things," he replied honestly, "The beach is a great source of distraction." And often times a means of escape too, while thoughts would run in the background of his mind not entirely leaving him, the sounds of the ocean would be soothing at least. "There's a few sea urchins too," he said now sitting on the rock to get a closer look, "If starfish aren't your thing."
JC closed his eyes, stretching his arms over his head and taking a low, steadying breath. While he had only come to walk along the sand, he seemed to debate turning the opportunity into a proper jog. His nightmare had, in some ways, emboldened him, opened new pathways to the level of physical activity he had once so craved. Of course, he was more of a winter sports person, but he was enjoying this opportunity for quiet. The ice rink had too may people, too many florescent lights, and really, the den had not felt like a fortress since the break-in. He sat around it waiting for the doors to cave inward.
And so, the beach it would have to be if he were going to find any place for genuine solace. He had grown up in a summertime industry, of course. The smell of sunscreen and the fading warmth of August still made him remember his father, who was, of course, dead to him in the way only wolves could be dead to other wolves. But he had enough other unpleasant memories on which to linger.
Looking up at the voice, then, JC managed a weak smile, offering a small wave. Still, while Jonah was one of the better humans around town, he made no effort to approach, continuing his stretches instead. "Will I make it self-conscious? I hate being under a microscope myself," he called, but finishing up, he trudged over despite himself. "Are you looking for anything in particular or kind of just...combing?"
