It was so touching seeing everyone show up for Jason but it was also exhausting. June had said thank you to so many people and finding all of the condolences as a reminder of losing her brother. After she noticed Ethan had his fix of the little wigglebugs, she hopped from her seat for her turn. "You’re gonna get sick to death of me by the end of tonight.” she chuckled at Cricket, sitting beside the younger woman and holding her arms out for one of the twins to come to her. “If you need help setting them down, I’m sure Sofia won’t mind you using the big house. And I won’t mind sitting with them either so you can still enjoy yourself.”

Kenzie could appreciate what Cricket was doing, laughing warmly to the other woman as she nodded. "Well, that makes me feel better but also makes me wonder where the hell Koda even learned that from." she muttered, realizing exactly who and where he learned it from after the fact. It was no surprise that Kenzie didn't lean on the side of optimism, she never had done. Even back in high school she was trying to dismantle patriarchal systems and racist undercurrents. "I mean, yeah he will always get what he wants but right now that's at my expense." she laughed, watching Koda help the other two toddlers put away the toys and come galloping over to collect his snacks. He even split them fairly between the three of them, which took Kenzie by surprise for a second. "My mom always said to me and May that there's no handbook to be a mom, and as a kid I'd be like so!? What the hell does that mean? But now I get it. I think it best to blank out all the other noise and focus on what feels right for you and them. S'all that matters."
;
"Noo, I don't think that." Cricket laughed, nudging into Kenzie supportively. "If anything, the fact the tale exists just proves Koda isn't the first kid to think it tastes good." she added with a shrug, thinking that might make the other mother feel better. Nodding, Cricket smiled because she had met some of the Andersons. JJ was friends with Danny and well, watching Koda it made sense sometimes. "Stubborn isn't a bad trait. At least I don't think so. Just annoying for others to deal with but at least he'll always get what he wants." she chuckled because she knew her boys would embody stubbornness too. She was stubborn and JJ came from a long line of stubborn family. They didn't stand a chance. "Aw, thanks Kenzie." she sighed, warmed by the compliment. "I just wish it was clearer to know when we were making the right decisions, you know?"

"I heard that too but something tells me it was just said by a mom who's son ate dirt, just to make herself feel better." Kenzie laughed because out of all the things Koda was good at, why did finding a way to shove dirt in his pocket for a secret snack have to be one of them? "He's half Vaisman, and we're stubborn and I don't know if you met any of the Andersons but he's half of them too. Also stubborn. I'm hoping it's kinda gonna counteract itself, y'know? And he'll be a real chill dude as he gets older." Kenzie crossed her fingers and rolled her eyes because she could hear how stupid it sounded. He started school next and she was going to start predicting how many trips to the teachers office she was going to be making. "Oh stop, it's not easy for any of us. But Caleb and Jax are adorable, I think they're gonna be great. Don't even worry about it, they're called the terrible twos for a reason. Koda screamed at people for no reason when he was two."
;
"I read somewhere that a little is meant to be good for the immune system, or maybe it's an old wives' tale." Cricket laughed, thankful Kenzie was one of the understanding moms. Not one that wanted to judge methods with a holier than thou attitude. She was impressed by the way she took charge of the room because to be frank, Cricket had been struggling with the four year old and twins. "Like a true master." she praised while laughing, watching Caleb and Jax follow Koda's lead. "Urgh thanks, it doesn't feel like it but you and Koda are great so, your opinion matters way more than how I feel." she shrugged, grabbing her coffee cup. "Sometimes I forget that there's two of them, honestly."

The Vaisman home had welcomed many kids through its doors over the years, Kenzie just never thought it would be her kid and his friends. Ever adaptable, Kenzie didn't mind giving other moms a helping hand. It was in her nature after all and so was a little dose of tough love. Coming through from the kitchen, Kenzie yelped at the thud of the plastic lego bouncing off her leg but she soon laughed. "Don't even worry about it, you come talk to me when they wanna start eating dirt." she chuckled, setting the coffee down on the side table before addressing the small toddler audience. "Alright, if y'all want a snack you're gonna need to put these bricks away. Stat. And I'm talking not even one brick on the floor, okay? Koda, you gonn show the boys where they go?" she clapped her hands together to get their attention, watching with a satisfied smile as Koda took the lead to start clearing up. "I can barely handle one so the fact you got two always amazes me. You're doing just fine." she said to Cricket, flopping onto the couch beside her.

Cricket would lose her mind if she didn't have a mom friend and despite Koda being older than the twins, Jax and Caleb could hold their own. They were a spritey duo and poor Koda didn't stand a chance once they ganged up together. While Kenzie was in the kitchen, Cricket was trying her hardest to get the twins to leave Koda's toys alone and teach them the importance of turns. It wasn't going very well and the door opened up just in time for Jax to snatch one of the lego bricks and throw it right at Kenzie. "Sorry..." Cricket cringed, taking Jax by the hand. "It's his thing right now and if I react in any way it makes him want to do it even more." she smiled sheepishly. "Please tell me it gets better." @dxrkenedheights
