for: @illputabexonyou location: ice skating rink
"Frozen water, we meet again," Jonah said mostly to himself as he stared down at the ice rink, lips drawing to a thin line as he thought back to the lessons he had with JC. Mostly the times he fell down came to the forefront but this was a different time, who knew maybe he had this and with Bex next to him — he had to be good. Resolute in that decision, he turned to face her, "I'm not an expert or anything but I took a few ice skating classes, so hopefully, I won't make a fool of myself," he laughed, "I promise to not let you fall though, you don't have to worry about that." At least it was one less thing she had to worry about. Jonah knew she had a lot on her mind of late and he hoped this could maybe lessen that, if not him, then at least his sweater could make her smile a little. "Ready?"

"Jumping into cold water is actually really fun," he confirmed with a laugh, "But yeah, exactly, similar concept here, dive right in." While, more often than not, Jonah did take the slow and steady approach with things, there were things he will admit which needed the opposite, and this he felt was a prime example of one otherwise it'd give rise to hesitation. But on the other hand, starting slow was never an issue. He didn't rush her, or push her to go faster or quicker, simply watched as she steeled her nerves and stepped into the ice, "You're doing great," he said following suit and sliding onto the rink, "Try to relax, it'll make things easier. Oh, and bend your knees a little, that helps too apparently."
After a moment, Bex took in a deep breath and said, "No. No, let's-- let's do it. I can do this. Let's just-- get it over with. Like jumping in cold water, right?" She looked back at Jonah, hopeful and a little pleading, knowing she could trust him at his word and wishing she could make herself feel that way. She shook her hands out and patted her legs, as if to warm herself back up, before letting out a quick breath. "Let's do this." Slowly, so slowly, painfully slow, really, she reached her first skate out onto the ice, glancing once more back at Jonah, before letting it sit flat on the rink. When that one felt sturdy enough, she moved herself forward, clinging desperately to the railing as she let her other skate slide onto the ice as well. She slipped momentarily, her grip on the rail keeping her from face planting completely, before she managed to pull herself up on shaky legs. "Wow that's-- slippery," she muttered.

"No time like the present, right? Or well, so they say," he replied, "I think we'll be okay and really practise makes it easier. I got you, promise. We'll go slow and easy," he said holding out a hand for her to take for extra balance. Her hesitation hadn't gone unnoticed, and he understood that, he'd been like that the first time too and it took a lot of falls before he could move with a modicum of stability, but Jonah was determined not to make her fall, to instead make this time nice for her, a way to let herself have a bit of fun and not worry. "But no, not at all, we don't have to go right away. There really isn't any rush. If you want to watch others for a while that's fine too. We can sit and chat for a bit?" he questioned to see if that's what she wanted. "Do you want some hot chocolate to warm up?"
Bex had never actually done this before, ice skating. She'd been to ice skating rinks, even watched people she'd gone with skate around, but she'd always been rather afraid of attempting it herself. Knowing how clumsy and uncoordinated she was just on her own two feet while walking, putting skinny, metal blades on her feet seemed like a really bad idea. But, on the other hand, she'd always wanted to learn. And she also wanted to spend more time with Jonah, and he'd offered to teach her, so how could she say no? Now that she was here, though, standing on shaky legs and skates, clinging to the railing, she was hesitant to step out on the ice. It seemed like Jonah might be a little nervous, too. "Umm, I mean, we don't, like, have to go right now, do we?" she stuttered, looking over at Jonah. She wore her matching sweater, feeling warm enough at just the idea that they had gotten her one that matched, too. "What if we just, like, watched everyone else for a bit?"
