Biggest tip? Look outside the city. If you go upstate, even a little, you're bound to find so much more on offer. I essentially bought a castle on a hill for practically nothing given what I was getting. Granted, it's a fixer-upper, but it's still fabulous.

Don't get me wrong, the place I'm renting is lovely but I've never had somewhere that was entirely my own and I'm so ready to decorate without anyone telling me my dreams of a pink kitchen are too much.

A few years ago, if you asked anyone in Lima, Ohio, they’d be able to tell you that they’d never heard of someone named Avery Pearce. There had been a bunch of Pearces in Lima and back before everything went to shit, Avery - then Beckett - had lived there. Not because things hadn’t always been shit. His dad had bailed when he was born and his mother hadn’t handled it well. Alcohol and drugs became a normal part of the small boy’s life and when Beckett was finally removed at age six, there had been a big fuzz about it. When he later returned to Lima, he started using his middle name and insisted on keeping his history with the city to himself.
Avery spent most of his life in the foster care system. Some of the places he ended up were fucked up, others were perfectly fine - but he fucked up. Drug dealers, loving families, brothels… he’s seen a bit of everything. He moved in with his mother again at fourteen when the doctors said “everything was fine”, but they weren’t and she overdosed shortly after. After that, he was sent to live with his aunt.

alcohol tw, drugs tw, over dose tw
When Avery came to live with his aunt, one of the first things he noticed was his cousin. Harmony is extremely talented and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t help but envy her. Not because of her talent, but because her parents are so supportive of her dreams. He’s not sure whether he hates her or not, but she’s family and it’s the best home he’s ever had.
It’s not that he doesn’t know smoking is bad for him. And he, more than most, knows how drugs and alcohol can fuck up lives. It’s just that it’s far more relaxing than overcoming the world without it. A lot of people would argue that the things Avery does aren’t very well thought out, but most of the time they are wrong. He likes to test the limits and he doesn’t mind doing stupid shit, because he knows that in the end, he’ll probably get away with it.
He has never really been lucky in relationships. Either he screws things up, sometimes on purpose, or his partner gets tired of never really knowing where they have him. He prefers not to talk about himself or his past, and hooking up is, in his opinion, not a bad thing.
One of the families he lived with for a while gave him a guitar and taught him the basics. It’s in pretty bad shape and even if his aunt has offered to buy him a new one, he insists that he’ll be fine with what he has.

Though she has everyone believe that she’s a virgin, she’s not. When she was a freshman she lost it to someone she genuinely thought was interested in her, but he wasn't. He stopped talking to her only days after and she hasn’t slept with anyone since. When Quinn was younger she got teased often. She wasn’t as skinny or as pretty as the other girls and she was reminded often. So the summer after fifth grade she went to a weight loss camp, dyed her hair blonde, and never looked back. That’s when she stopped going by Lucy and began going by Quinn. She doesn’t acknowledge that part of her life to anyone - she won’t even admit that her name was ever Lucy. That girl doesn’t exist anymore. Sometimes she feels as though her entire life has been dedicated to pleasing her parents. The choices she makes aren’t always what she wants, but what she thinks will make them happiest or impress them the most. She just wants to make them proud, despite how unachievable that seems at times. What she’d really love is to just do whatever she felt like without having to think about it beforehand.
H E A D C A N O N S.
Cheerleading is something that has always mattered to Quinn. It was something she first saw as a much smaller opportunity - a way to make friends. Over time, it became much more. An outlet for her frustrations, an excuse to stay in shape, a way to climb her way up the social ladder. She wears her glitter and ribbons like war paint.
She’s not as religious as she lets on. Though she does have her beliefs, which she cares about and has respect for, she’s not as strict as she’ll have her parents believe. Going to church with them every Sunday is a way to bond with them, and her beliefs come in handy as a convenient excuse if a hot and heavy make-out session begins to turn into something she’s not ready for.
Her commitment issues are real. She can’t see herself getting into a relationship with just anyone, they have to actually prove themselves. So far, no one’s been up for the challenge. A few people have shown interest here and there, but before long they give up. All it does it prove her point; everyone leaves. She’s fine with being called an Ice Queen, because it’s better than having her heart broken.
She cares too much about everything. It’s rare that a person knows the real, genuine Quinn because she spends so much of her time trying to ensure that everyone likes her. The politics of high school is something she’s been invested in ever since she stopped being Lucy and started being Quinn. Being accepted and having people want to be around her means everything, even if she tries to hide that fact.

You say words and yet I do not tend to understand them, no matter how much you try and explain them to me.

Namaste my fellow freedom seekers, dreamers and self-growth yogi.
As the day to day pressures of life continue to plague us and try to drag our minds down, it becomes harder and harder for us to see above the clouds. Whatever blocks our higher selves, we need to find those things which will bring our souls light and our minds peace. For me it is meditation and clearing my energy.
But what is it for you? What clears the mist and energises you?
Remember abundance and healing are on the other side of the mat.

I still say she's not allowed to be sixteen. When did that happen? Who let that happen? She was just itty bitty.
Tumblr media
heading into my second year at psu feels surreal, it also feels surreal to have a sixteen year old daughter (and a little, or a lot, terrifying). perhaps the most surreal part of my life, though, is that i haven't been in a film since i was fifteen years old and i still get followed by "journalists" who want to know all about how my mother and i are doing, is our relationship repaired, have i spoken to my father since the divorce, et cetera — as if they are entitled to any sort of information! this culture is incredibly wild. what is it that michael jordan said in that one commercial? stop it, get some help?

Agreed, for sure. Have you had any luck with all that?

We can all agree that house hunting is, in fact, the worst past time, right? I swear not even the fake fresh baked cookies smell gets me going anymore. Don't get me wrong, the place I'm renting is lovely but I've never had somewhere that was entirely my own and I'm so ready to decorate without anyone telling me my dreams of a pink kitchen are too much.

Entirely fair. I lived in the heart of Boston for years, so living outside the city has proven to be a really nice change.
Tumblr media
I've just sold the house I had outside the city. Normally, I would absolutely agree with you but having never had the opportunity, I'm looking forward to living right in the middle of things.
