My dear Facebook addicted father told me that the comet was three times the size of Earth. I fact checked that because it didn't sound right and it's more just 3 kilometers (a more comet size for a comet).
But now I'm extremely curious- what WOULD happen if a ball of ice and rock three times the size of Earth on a highly erratic orbit passed into our general vicinity as visible comets do? Whether distant enough to appear the same size as the comet head in our sky or literally occupying the exact same point in space the comet at its brightest was (which I can only assume would be Very Bad for Earth)

"Rare comet to streak across night sky. Here’s how you can see it"
"The comet will initially appear low on the western horizon in the glow of twilight about 45 minutes after sunset each day starting Saturday, Oct. 12, through the end of the month, Cooke said.
The comet can be seen without special equipment but the best view will be through a pair of binoculars." @NPR
"The snowy dirtball is nearly 2 miles in diameter and its tail of dust and gasses extends for tens of millions of miles, Bill Cooke, lead of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, told NPR."

I was able to see and take pictures of the comet C2023/A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) ! This comet will be visible in the night sky probably for the next week or two, it's currently visible both with a pair of binoculars and with the naked eye. Since it's visible very early after sunset, it's a bit difficult to spot for now, but in the coming days it's will gradually be visible later in the night and thus easier to observe.

This comet is one of the brightest in the last few years so it should be quite easy to observe.
I hope you all get a chance to see it, it's magnificent
