Would A Reuniclus Be A Good Pet?

We’ve made it to the end of Indigo Disk Week! I’m writing this before the DLC releases, but I’m an optimist: I bet we’re having fun with it! To close out the week, it’s time to cover up the sentient jello that is reuniclus!

A reuniclus, unfortunately, might not be the best choice for a pet.

While they may be levitating, they take up an above-average amount of space for a pet. It is unclear if the three foot stat is referring to the bottom of their body to the tip of their head or one hand to the other. Either way, this is a pretty large pokémon. It isn’t a disqualifying size, by any means, but it’s certainly worth noting.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of data about how personable reunicli are. We know that they are quite intelligent pokémon (White) who form psychic bonds with other members of their species by shaking hands (Black). Generally, if a pokémon is intelligent and social, they are more likely to get along with humans. We don’t have a lot of data about their wild behavior or habitat either. What we do know, however, is that they are a bit of a menace on the battlefield.

Reunicli are surprisingly powerful pokémon on multiple fronts. For one, their powerful mind is capable of performing numerous psychic feats. For one, they are said to be able to crush boulders with their mind (Black2/White2). While this doesn’t necessarily mean they will, a reuniclus could absolutely kill you just by thinking about it. That’s not great. They can perform a barrage of powerful psychic-type moves like Future Sight, Psychic, and Psyshock as well, just for some added frosting on top. However, reunicli have been observed prefering to take a different approach in battle. Lacking any kinds of muscles, reunicli use their psychic abilities most often to control their huge arms, which are made up of a special liquid (Black2/White2). When facing trouble, reunicli prefer to use these arms to batter enemies with enough strength to crush rocks with their grip alone (White, Sword). Wow, would you look at that: reunicli can shatter boulders with their mind or their hands! Nifty, but dangerous. This is a pokémon that presents a pretty serious threat, should they attack.

That being said, we don’t know how violent these pokémon are. It’s entirely possible that they are pacifistic, only fighting in the case of self defense. Nevertheless, the combination of their destructive potential and larger size brings their score down to a (high) C. There isn’t any red flags that make me think no one should try to adopt a reuniclus, I just would caution a lot of consideration about the risks you’re taking on.

Oh, also: don’t try and taste the liquid goo that their bodies are made of. There’s rumors that drinking that stuff “grants wisdom”, but it’s highly toxic (Shield). Also, it’s gross.

Drayton is really really blase/at least Pretends to be uninterested/more casual in Indigo Disk, but gets pretty serious about the player being mindful of the fact that Amarys is extremely sensitive here. I feel like it's notable, especially with stuff Amarys says re: concerns about Kieran, preexisting ties to Carmine, and a bunch of other stuff along those lines. Shows that despite attitude is Very aware of the stress Amarys has considering she's actively friends with Kieran and Carmine. :(

Y'ALL. it's time. it's an excuse to spin more. it's tour de fleece.

spinning!me is super disorganized -- i only own one (1) spinning tool (a drop spindle) -- so i'm fully prepared for a we'll-burn-that-bridge-when-we-get-to-it kind of tdf. that's not stopping me from having Plans (TM), though!

in the interest of not ruining everyone's feeds, i'm going to keep yelling below the cut.

(also, if you don't want my hopefully-daily updates on spinning, i'll be tagging everything with #tour de fleece and #tour de fleece 2023 if you want to block)

in general, i want to spin and post progress every day. i've attempted to do daily progress things on instagram, but i always chicken out because of the Aesthetics (TM). here on the hellsite i can only hope that i will not be such a terrible pedant about lighting.

PROJECT 1: MERINO/SILK FRACTAL 3-PLY

first off is finishing what's on my spindle right now. i've got about 1/3 of a ply left to go on a fingering-weight fractal 3-ply spin in merino/silk (dyed by emily c gillies for luck of the draw december 2022). i've been working on this for WAYY too long; i started spinning it in, uhh, february.

here's the breakdown of the milestones i want to hit:

07/01: finish spinning the ply

07/02: wind a plying ball and start plying

07/04: finish plying

PROJECT 2: PERUVIAN WOOL 3-PLY

next up is another wip... kind of. i'm working on a sweater quantity of handspun -- i have one skein finished, but the rest of it has been on hold while the merino/silk takes up the spindle.

this yarn is a dk-weight 3-ply in a heathered fiber (knit picks wool of the andes roving in indigo heather). i have some leftovers on two of my makeshift bobbins from my first skein, so i'm hoping i can just slide the cops back onto my spindle and connect new fiber.

i have 800 g of the fiber, and will probably need at least 700 g for the sweater project, so... i think this should probably take the rest of the month (and beyond).

nonetheless...

PROJECT 3: DORSET WOOL CHAIN PLY

i have two GORGEOUS 100 g braids of dorset (again from emily c gillies' luck of the draw, this time for june 2023). there's an orange/pink/purple/blue gradient, and there's a coordinating pastel green/blue/purple/brown tonal.

i want to spin both up into lace/fingering-weight yarns to combine in a knitted project. to preserve the gradient, that'll get chain-plied, and i think i'll do the same on the tonal just for consistency (and because how does anyone split braids in 3???)

So. i have not been posting as much as i used to. and i definitely have not been updating c!overtale as much as i want to.

I get that as i get further and further into the school year i’m gonna have more work and it gonna get harder, but i’m still making good grades so i just haven’t had as much time or energy to work on c!overtale or digital art as i want.

First off, i’ve been drawing traditionally a lot more. i don’t post it often because it just doesn’t do as well on here compared to digital art. it’s what’s accessible to me at school and just. easier. right now.

i’m not the only person who gets into a cycle of (good at digital > bad at digital > good at traditional > bad at traditional > good at digital) right??? i’m just in a bad at digital swing right now

Second, C!overtale. I’ve REALLY been wanting to talk about it. just another reason i haven’t been posting as much.

so far, of what i haven’t posted, i have 2 pages completely finished, five more inked, and at LEAST 30 to 40 more thumbnailed. i’m planning on having the next update be seven pages total, and i’ve been working on them little by little for over a month now.

this is really taking a lot longer than i wanted but i know the quality of work i’m capable of producing and i want to achieve it. i don’t want to half ass something i’m so passionate about just for the likes or to satisfy my social anxiety telling me people already forgot about it.

Expect that update by the end of the month. i’m gonna try to wrap it up over thanksgiving break. i really am sorry it’s taking so long, i’ve been working on that and school and, shivers, self care ewww like healthier habits and all the doodling in the world. i doodle when life gets uncontrollably political. i hate politics.

No. 9 - IndiGo

A very different type of bonus review - I'm here to stop talking about history and start talking about current events. Nobody has requested IndiGo, but IndiGo has requested that Airbus sell them a record-breaking 500 A320-family aircraft as an absolutely wild opening to this year's Paris Air Show. That is, to put it in context, the largest bulk order of jets by an airline ever, in history. While aircraft orders by companies are generally negotiated behind closed doors and thus I can't say how much money is actually changing hands, the approximate value of this deal is hypothetically 55 billion US dollars.

This will more than double IndiGo's existing 308-strong fleet, consisting of A320-family jets and ATR-72 turboprops. They are already the largest operator of the A320neo in the world, and have a truly stunning 999 aircraft on order.

Well. Assuming nothing changes, we will have a thousand more of these in the world by 2035. How do I feel about that?

Those living in the West might not be familiar with IndiGo (full name InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., not to be confused with defunct United States carrier Indigo Airlines; callsign "IFLY", not to be confused with Russian charter airline I-Fly) but even without this truly prodigious order they're pretty massive. In fact, they're the largest carrier in the world's most populous country. Currently headed by the former CEO of KLM, they are also the largest low-cost carrier in all of Asia.

It's interesting, but somehow this livery doesn't feel like it has much gravitas to it. That's fine for a low-cost carrier, it just feels a bit surreal that this is the current record-holder for largest bulk order of aircraft. Not the Delta-American-United triad, who already have 1,000+ aircraft fleets. Not Emirates and its massive A380 and 777 fleets. Not even a huge flag carrier looking to expand. They're not even a full-blown ULCC, and I could have imagined Ryanair making an order of this magnitude to try and rapidly expand way before I would have bought it from IndiGo. My guess would be that they're feeling a bit threatened by the two massive threats of the Lions Air and Airs Asia, but that's just speculation and also not what I'm here to talk about. I just cannot stop being astounded by this. I don't feel like any airline needs 500 aircraft total, but what would I know?

One neat little touch I'd like to point out is that this plane feels like it had a lot of thought put into how it's seen from the bottom. In particular, the little stick figure/airplane dot thing(?) IndiGo logo is on the bottom, and the little blue swooping line is made an active part of the design under the nose, rather than just trim, the same way as it is on the tail. The logo in particular is super recognizable. I will say, though, the way that it's just dots could probably make people mistake it for some sort of safety lighting rather than iconography, because it does resemble the sort of markers you'd see on the ground at a runway.

Seriously, what is that logo? Is that an airplane? I think it's supposed to be an airplane but it is so simplified it's no longer instantly recognizable.

The font used for the wordmark is ITC Bauhaus, which, sure, that's nice and big and striking, and its branding has not changed since 2006. The color...sure is indigo, though the actual livery on the airplanes pretty heavily skews towards general blue. (We're done with jetBlue, but blue jets will haunt me forever, it seems.) I wish it was a bit bolder on the actual fuselage, because it's a bit hard to read at times with how thin the letters are.

That said, I have to point it out: Indian carrier operating primarily domestic flights in India, which will mostly be flown on by Indian people, the majority of whom will speak Hindi (the fourth most spoken language on the planet), and yet has the airline's name and website in English but not Devanagari. (EDIT: I have been told by somebody who actually lives in India that English is probably the more broadly accessible choice for a lot of the country, so this is actually not an issue.)

I kind of wonder if ATR operators are drawn to dark swooping curves on the bottom of their planes, because Azul had the same sort of basic shape around the belly fairing. I think it looks good on the type, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious now if that does factor into the thought process.

I think this livery is exactly as busy as it needs to be. It pinches in neatly under the nose, and I like how it travels up to cover the lower half of the tail. It feels uncommon to see that sort of tail-fuselage integration. It's nice how the light blue line alternately joins and diverges from the darker main body, creating a dynamic feeling, and I like how it's used as almost a rule for the placement of the logo on the tail. (I do wonder why the little plane logo couldn't go there instead, though. Or on the nacelles. Its absence everywhere except the belly seems weird. There actually is a small one on the nose under the windows, but if you can't see it from a distance I don't think it counts.)

The airline operates a total of two freighters, but I just want to point out the commitment to the Go bit, which I like. It's a lot less of a common branding thing than you'd expect, honestly. Surprised more airlines haven't jumped on that.

I really love seeing prop covers on planes. Those are her gloves.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that the blue fully retreats in that little center-back fuselage section. From a few angles you get just a sliver of it visible in a way that feels awkward, but in theory I do like it. A bit of white breaking up that line isn't a bad thing.

Grade: C+

As in, we will c +500 of these in the next twenty years.

Well, this has been just a fun little extra. It's a good thing I don't totally hate this, because 500 more of these are about to be flying to an airport near you! (More airports near more people, because I think 1,200 planes for just their current 101 destinations would be serious overkill). What an exciting start to the Paris Air Show, and I live in fear that I'll be forced to rush to my keyboard again when [throws dart] Binter Canarias announces that they [spins wheel] are going to start operating a fleet of secondhand A380s.

Needle resting between his lips, the training day had ended and Astorian currently had Indigo standing on a platform so he could work on fittings for her interview outfit. He wanted to make sure she looked good in what he had made. It was one of his first fully produced, ready-to-wear pieces. Of course, if it went out to the public there would be alterations, this was to remain a one-of-a-kind piece.

So, I decided to make a pit stop over at Indigo Park Chapter 2's Kickstarter and see if there were any updates while I went to check a project I was actually backing [Not that I'm a backer for Indigo Park, I just wanted to see if they finally updated, and I need to air my grievances with how things are being handled currently, especially as I feel like it's going to cause issues with future game developers and content creators moving forward (especially those that use Kickstarter)

As per usual, the gist of it shall be under the cut so you can skip it, and regardless, have a good day!

With that, let's start with what I found.

In short, there hasn't been an update since July 18th 2024 (See below)

Now given that it's the 29th of October 2024, you'd think there would've been an update, right? Obviously I'm not saying that you need to release weekly, but at least monthly/bi-monthly could help encourage goodwill between the backers and your team, especially since you essentially sold them on a promise/a product that is not yet out.

However, we did get an update from a commenter, 6 days ago, with information!

So instead of making a tiny update to let your backers know that a formal update was coming, you posted to Twitter and then assumed that all of your backers not only had Twitter accounts, but checked them often enough that they would see this tweet that could be easily buried.

And from what I understand (I do not have Twitter and Twitter requires an account to see anything recent, so take with a grain of salt), that's the last we've heard in regard to any update (as of me writing this 10/29/2024)

Your paying audience shouldn't have to jump from social media platform to social media in order to know what they're paying for (especially if what they're paying for should be an exclusive first look at things), and assuming that they will is a lesson in speed running burning your audience's goodwill. Like I'd be surprise if the team will be able to have the 3rd chapter funded this way, especially if Chapter 2 doesn't live up to anyone's expectations (not saying it won't, it's just that everyone's expectations are going to be different until we get clear answers, and clearly we're not.) And I know that this could be a very innocent case of not being as prepared as one could have been, but if that's the case, why didn't you prepare better? It's not like you had to run the Kickstarter during your trip to PAX and when you're busy. Yes, strike while the iron is hot, but also don't set yourself up for problems down the line, especially when this could be easily used to justify why people shouldn't trust future projects (They're a Content Creator; they're making a mascot horror cash grab; It's being done in chapter based releases instead of a full release; etc)

I want the best for the team behind Indigo Park, and I know that mistakes happen, but I don't want this game, or other games like this, to suffer in the future because of a lack of communication between developers and audience burning all goodwill and trust.
