Why Byron Bay is awesome in Winter!

Winter is one of our favourite seasons in Byron Bay! The weather is mild, the air is clean and there are lots of things to do.

Walking trails are actually more fun in the winter, as it’s a more pleasant temperature for walking and the sun isn’t as strong so you don’t get sun burned so easily.

Splendour in the grass festival is on, which is always a blast!

Whale watching is another highlight of the winter season.

You can watch the whales migrating from the Cape Byron Headland or Lighthouse, or book one of the many whale watching tours in the area. You can even get up close and personal in a Kayak!

Markets

Byron Bay area has several bustling markets. The Byron Bay Community Market is held on the first Sunday of the month, with over 300 stalls including local arts and crafts and food stalls. 

Bangalow Market, which is a short drive from Byron Bay is held on the fourth Sunday of the month at the Bangalow Showgrounds. The markets have exquisite artworks.

For fresh produce, there’s the Ballina Missingham Farmers Market in Ballina. Also the Channon Craft Market in Channon, near Lismore.

The Byron Bay Writers Festival

Held in August each year, this is one of the region’s most popular festival and attracts writers and visitors from around the globe.

Byron Writers Festival 2017

Byron Writers festival is set for it’s 21st birthday in 2017! This year, on 4-6th August, there will be over 130 writers. 

Their work will inspire and educate visors and help you grow as a novice, or experienced writer.
