Nina sighed as she snuggled her pillow. It sucked watching Sidney shake hands in the handshake line, the disappointing end to a good season. She sniffled as she watched Sidney stoically shake hands with the Flyers, disappointment and anger on his face.
This season, the Penguins had drawn the Islanders in the divisional semi-finals. After a hard-fought seven game series, the Pens had finally got past the Isles. However, the Flyers, surprisingly, made it past the Canes and the Battle of Pennsylvania was on. Unlike 2018, the Flyers won this time, in five games. Nina put her phone on vibrate, just in case Sidney called her.
However, Sidney didn’t call that night or for a fucking week. Nina was understanding at first but understanding turned into annoyance when pictures were posted of Sidney golfing with Kasperi, Brandon, and a couple of the single players. Nina just was glad she had the foresight to limit comments on her IG to approved commenters because she had no interest in people asking questions about him.
Scrolling her phone, Nina read a text from Marisa: has he called u yet?
No, Nina simply responded. She wasn’t going to call him first either. Let him have his bitch fit and golf. He didnt tell me he was going to go do that n im not his wife.
Nina’s phone rang and she answered. Yes, Marisa?”
“Oh, Nina, he’s a douchebag. I can ask Kevin to slash him a couple of times next season,” Marisa commiserated.
Nina replied, “He hasn’t called me or texted me since that night. I haven’t tried to call him since Sunday because fuck that. I know he got his superstitions and everything but, no. Hell no.”
“I agree. Have you been out?”
Nina shook her head before saying, “I was finishing finals so I haven’t been out. Karesha told me we’re going out this coming Friday and, you know I don’t party like that but I will.”
“Give him something to miss,” Marisa advised.
Nina scoffed, “Something to miss? He’s lucky if I let him talk to me whenever he gets back.”
**
Sid groaned as he turned in his bed in Cole Harbour. He was so fucking pissed about the way the season ended; they finally got past the Isles only to get tripped up by fucking Giroux and his Flyers. Fucking Hart was a damn brick wall and fuck, Sidney could sense that his time in the game was coming to a swift close soon. For the past week and in a half, he had been in a funky snit, annoyed and needing to be away after golfing with the boys.
At the same time, he felt like shit. Sidney knew he shouldn’t have avoided Nina’s call; he was still raw from the loss and he didn’t want to expose Nina to that side. But, she hadn’t called or texted him since and Sidney didn’t know how to break the silence that he had created. Picking up his phone, Sidney blinked when he saw all of the messages on his lock screen. The team’s group chat had been busy last night.
Unlocking his phone, Sidney’s eyes bulged when he saw the messages. There were pictures of Nina out, with one of her friends, wearing a dress that was barely there. Her hair was falling straight over her shoulders but what really got Sidney’s attention was the fact that there were guys all around her. Then Nate sent a text; i guess ur single now. Told u not to go home without talking to her
“I’m a fuck up,” Sidney moaned.
“Yup, you are.”
Sidney blinked as he looked at his phone. He managed to call Tanger and Tanger didn’t look pleased.
“Sid, we’ve been friends for a long time but, I didn’t think you were this stupid,” Tanger scolded. “Really?”
“You know with the way the season ended,” Sidney began before Tanger cut him off.
“Nina knows that. She respects that. Nina’s not clingy or needy like some of the other girls. But, Cath told me you haven’t even called or texted her? Wow, Sid, wow.”
Sidney blushed as he listened to one of his closest friends berate him. Tanger was right. But how was he going to even apologize without looking like a bigger dummy?
“Well, you’re already acting like a dummy, Sid, so you might as well look like a bigger dummy,” Tanger snarked. “Nina isn’t like the other girls. She doesn’t need you.”
Sid gritted his teeth at that statement, especially since he knew that it was very true.
Sidney heard French yelling in the background before Tanger stated, “Cath thinks that despite being so good at hockey, you suck at being a person. And you made Nina cry when Cath last talked to her.”
Sidney wanted to slap himself. He made his pretty girl cry. “Fuck,” he yelled.
“Yeah, fuck. Fix it, Sid, instead of fucking yourself over forever.”
Sidney scrolled his phone after Tanger hung up on him. It looked like he was flying into Pittsburgh asap.
**
Nina sighed as she padded in her apartment. Last night was fun, going out with Karesha. They had just gone out to dinner, a jazz lounge, then ended the night at a rooftop bar. Nina knew people had been taking pictures of her all night and that people were wondering where Sidney was but that wasn’t her problem. There had been plenty of guys willing to take her home but Nina wasn’t interested in any of them either. She still wanted Sidney but fuck him too.
Her doorbell rang and Nina looked at the panel. It was Sidney with a pastry box and a wide grin on his face. Nina opened the door with a smile.
“Hi, pretty girl-”
Then she slammed it in his face, her grin growing wider as she loudly locked the door. Just like a man, coming back right when they realized she was getting attention from other men.
“Go away, Crosby, unless you want attention because you’re knocking on my door,” Nina yelled from the inside. Putting her earpods in, Nina cleaned her apartment for the umpteenth time, singing along.
Sidney gritted his teeth outside of Nina’s apartment. He was expecting her to let him in, yell at him, then he would charm his way back in. He didn’t expect to get the door slammed in his face and being told to leave. His desire not to gain extra attention was the only reason he left.
Nina sighed when she heard Sidney stomp away. Her anger was starting to change to sadness, again. She had hoped this would be different but Sidney was just like every other man; ain’t shit at the end of the day.
**
“Take him for all his cash, girl. Then tell him, maybe I'll take you back.”
Nina rolled her eyes as she listened to Jamila. “For someone so wealthy, you sure like to talk about taking men for their cash.”
“It’s like this; men figure out their self-worth by how big their dick is, how many women they fuck, and how much money they have. You don’t want to go to jail so you can’t cut his dick off. So, fleece him and then dump him for good,” Jamila advised.
Nina sighed and Jamila groaned. “Oh my God, please don’t tell me you miss this dumbass. Dude didn’t contact you after losing in their playoffs! He ignored your call! He only contacted you in person after you and ‘Resha went out! The dick can’t be that good!”
Nina sighed as she listened to Jamila. Over the past couple of days, there had been Edible Arrangement deliveries, lunch bought for the staff, cards proclaiming that he was dumb as hell and sorry for being an idiot. And Nina still didn’t respond. No calls, no texts, Nina was still upset and feeling raw.
“Jamila.. Glass houses remember?”
Jamila sighed over the phone. She didn’t really have that much space to talk but she persisted, “You let him off easy, he’s going to walk all over you forever. I know I’m a fuck up but I never let a man walk all over me. Don’t let Mayo Boy, no, he’s Miracle Whip because that shit is disgusting and he hurt you. Don’t let Miracle Whip think he can apologize a couple times and you’ll come running back.”
“I haven’t made any decisions yet. Plus, I’m going away with Desi, Sio, Lauren, and Kim to Phuket. You know, that trip you helped plan but you can’t go on now,” Nina said as she logged into her workstation. Work had become a refuge of sorts. Everyone was pretty much professional, no one brought up anyone’s personal life. It was all about work and the patients and it made Nina happy. “I gotta go, I have a patient at 8:30.”
“Bye girl, and remember what I said,” Jamila replied.
“Byeeee”
Nina hung up and pulled her earpods out of her ears. It was time to focus on another day of work. Before Nina realized it, it was lunch time. Rubbing her temples, she sighed as she thought about lunch. Grabbing her purse and her keys, Nina made her way out of her office. “Rita, I’m going to get lunch,” Nina called out to the receptionist.
However, as soon as she left, Nina saw the infamous Range Rover in the parking lot and she closed her eyes. She wasn’t in the mood and it looked like it was going to get embarrassing for Sidney.
Luckily, it wasn’t Sidney who came out but someone totally different. Nina let out a breath she was holding and walked to her car. Her vacation was coming up in three days and she would be away for two and a half weeks. Sidney would probably leave her alone once he realized she was out of the country. Nina was sure of it, he had to have been icing her out to dump her anyway for the offseason.
**
“Still no call?”
Sidney sighed as Geno plopped in the chair across from his. He had put on his best smile today for Nikita’s birthday but he was feeling the strain.
“None,” he finally replied. Sidney felt so tired and such a fool. The best thing in his life had slipped out of his fingers and it was all his fault.
Geno snickered as Anna strolled in, holding a box. “Zhenya,” she asked before rolling her eyes at Sidney.
“Da,” Geno replied.
Anna started speaking rapid fire Russian, too fast for Sidney to even attempt to keep up. Geno started to laugh when Anna pointed to Sidney before pointing to the box. Then Anna abruptly turned on her heel and left the room.
Confused, Sidney asked, “What was that?”
Anna hadn’t been talking to him and Sidney felt like he was part of the subject of that conversation. Geno chuckled before replying, “Anna said that it’s a shame Nina isn’t here but she made sure to at least have a gift sent for Nikita before going to Thailand.”
Geno didn’t add the rest, which was Anna saying Nina had better manners than his captain, to at least send a gift that she didn’t have to send, before disappearing. He wasn’t interested in kicking his captain when he was down.
Sidney winced. Part of him felt a bit happy that Nina was somewhere, having fun but it was without him so it was his fault.
“Oh, look at this, Nina’s riding elephant,” Geno crowed as he looked at instagram. Sidney looked at the picture. Nina was riding an elephant, making some kind of triangle symbol with her hands. Then he looked at the comments and the first one said: look at you, dropping baggage and having fun.
Geno snickered before saying, “Poor Sid.”
“Not supportive, Geno,” Sidney remarked, closing his eyes.
There was a pause before Geno replied, “Maybe donate money to things Nina likes. Maybe she’ll talk to you when she gets back.”
**
Sidney checked his phone for what seemed like the umpteenth time. “Cros, she’s not going to text you.”
Sidney rolled his eyes at Tazer’s annoyed tone. Webs, Pricey, and Tanger laughed at him. They were all in Toronto together for a team Canada thing but that was over and they were out for drinks.
“Heard you fucked up, badly,” Webs stated in a dry tone. “When in doubt, always apologize first and buy the woman her favorite thing second.”
“Nina’s not big on buying stuff,” Sidney absentmindedly replied. Getting Nina to splurge on herself was like going to the dentist. It wasn’t fun.
One thing Sidney did realize from off and on monitoring Nina's Instagram was that she was big on helping out at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, she liked volunteering at the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, and every year, she volunteered at a pop-up shop for girls who wanted to go to prom but couldn’t afford it.
Sidney wrote five figure checks to each organization, in Nina’s name, no strings attached. Sidney was serious about trying to get his pretty girl back and he knew that Nina was serious about volunteering and giving back. Now, he was just waiting to see Nina’s reaction. If Nina told him thanks but it was over, Sidney would be upset but he could accept it.
There were no texts that night but that morning, Sidney woke up to a text from Nina. It was a simple thank you but it meant more than anything to Sidney at that moment.
**
Nina sighed as she looked at the thank you cards that had been waiting for her when she returned home. This was so out of the ordinary, she had to text Sidney when she saw them. It was more meaningful than gifts.
The trip to Phuket had been amazing but there had been a tinge of sadness for Nina. She enjoyed riding the elephants, experiencing the beaches, going diving, everything. It was truly the vacation she had been waiting to have, after Covid and then switching jobs had pushed everything back. Despite her best efforts, Nina missed Sidney. She missed that dumbass hockey player, he had wormed into her heart that easily. She missed him and was still supremely angry at him. Nina felt like the biggest dumbass on earth. As she waited for him to show up at her place, she wanted to bang her head into the wall. I fucked up by dating him, Nina said to herself.
Her doorbell rung and Nina opened the door. It was Sidney, hands in his pockets, no gifts this time. He ached to bring her into his arms but Sidney wouldn’t touch Nina unless she gave him permission.
There was a stony silence after Sidney closed the door, neither willing to say the first word. Nina tried to summon some of the anger she had but all that was left was pain and sadness. Before she even realized, a couple tears had slipped. Sidney saw them and his composure completely crumbled. He did the one thing he swore he would never do; he made his pretty girl cry.
Nina hiccupped as Sidney pulled her into his arms. He just held her as she cried. “Fuck you, Sidney Crosby. I felt like you were icing me out before dumping me. Fuck you, you fucking jagoff.”
“I-I should have said something but I was so pissed and I didn’t want to lash out at you. Then it just snowballed,” Sidney said, heartbreaking as Nina sniffled.
“You’re such a fucking dumbass. I don’t even know why I’m even considering taking you back.”
Sidney said, “I just didn’t want to burden you with everything I go through at the end of the season, especially when it’s disappointing.”
“Fuck that, Sidney.” Nina glared up at him, the big dummy. “Communication, it means that if you say you’re in a relationship, you communicate. You should have even sent a text, ‘I’m pissed as fuck, going golfing with the boys, be back soon’ or even just periodically texted those stupid hi and good morning beautiful texts. How would you feel if I didn’t call or text you and went away?”
Sidney paused as he considered Nina’s point. He was unhappy he didn’t know that Nina had gone away without telling him but he couldn’t say anything now. “Your face says it all, Crosby,” Nina snarked.
“I’m sorry, Nina,” Sidney said, deep from his heart.
Nina sighed, she could tell he was truly sorry. “Those donations… they were a total surprise. They all needed the money and are dear to me. But the Pittsburgh Prom Dress giveaway, we always need more funds since it doesn’t get as many donations around the year. Your donation not only allowed us to provide more dresses this prom season, it also allowed us to expand our collection so that we could provide suits as well as dresses. Thank you, Sidney.”
“You’re welcome,” he sincerely replied.
Keeping her cheek on his chest, Nina said, “I’m dumb because I really am considering taking you back. But don’t ever do that again.”
Pulling away a bit, Nina looked deep into Sidney’s eyes. I’m serious. I don’t think I’m clingy, I don’t require much, but don’t even do that again. I don’t need you to call me everyday but don’t ever ignore me like that again, Sidney.”
“I won’t, I swear,” Sidney promised, happy that his pretty girl was talking to him again.

damnit ok retyped bcos i dont save shit, f to me 😔 i know ur nge trash so u know the song, butttttt did you know it has a SUPER DOPE preamble in some versions? google 'poets often use many words' and ull find it ANYWAY imagine if like. reader chan *thinks* theyre alone idk stuck w cleaning duty by themselves cos jotaro never does shit, so they sing to make the chore faster but. gasp surprise he was listening and thinks theyre singing to him! (or yan of ur choice) dun dunduuunnn
Tumblr media
You are a singer.  This is not to say that you are known for your voice, or that you take special pride in songs, or even that you’re particularly good--that you have a place on the stage outside your own private fantasies.  You are a singer because it is a function of the soul.  It is what human beings do, in the same way birds make nests and bees dance.
You are also a student.  Coincidentally: today is your day to clean the classroom.  It’s a solitary and cumbersome hassle, made moreso by the fact that it shouldn’t be solitary or cumbersome, but that’s the natural consequence of being partnered with the perpetual absence of Jotaro Kujo.  It’s something you have to learn to ignore, papering over misplaced anger and indignation with empty assurances, with ‘I’m-fine’s and spiteful diligence.  Their absence exposes an unsettling silence, however.  A plaintive loneliness.  You have to create a new companion to take its place.
The shape it takes is song.  It wobbles, crackly and out of tune, malnourished of confidence, uneven in meter and lack of practice--alright.  It's ugly.  There, I said it.  A weed in the cracks of a sidewalk except it’s a voice.  But it's yours.  And as the weeks pass, it blooms into something, and with its help your work is lighter and time goes quicker.  There’s a certain joy in the transformation, where you are no longer alone with an absence but together with yourself.  A grandness in humble passion, in articulating something from the depths of your heart: “But just to be sure that you know what I’m saying, I’ll translate as I go along--”
Today, you had even brought a cassette player, a backing track for your little solo.  That might be why you have to fight down something sour, as your friend insists on helping you finish up early, and no amount of ‘Oh it’s fine’ or ‘Really, don’t wait for me’ will dissuade them.  The idea puzzles you, as the two of you empty wastebaskets and sweep floors and wipe down the blackboard; fifteen minutes in a high school classroom can’t possibly mean that much to you, that you’re resenting its absence this deeply.  You’re going to the arcade after this!  Please be normal for a change.  Enough of this weird aloofness.  Let your tapes of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald languish in your pocket for a day--their grand landscapes of love and feeling will be where you left them.
...your friend’s been saying something.  Your broom pauses in its mindless shuffle so the words can reach your ears.
“Your English isn’t bad, y’know?  Is that how you practice, with American songs?”
Oh.  Your voice shrivels on itself, withering in the heat of another’s attention, and your reply comes out as a pathetic raspy croak.  “Um.  No, I just--.”
Your friend laughs and playfully hits your shoulder.  “We should try karaoke or something sometime!  Let you really belt it out, it’ll be great.”
Drinking poison would hurt you less.  You say: “Perhaps”, and leave it at that.  When you finish making the classroom spotless, it’s in dead silence--not even your footsteps make noise.  It’s a silly thing, to be mortified to this extreme, but you can’t make yourself make any noise.  When you walk out the door only to bump into a wall of muscle, you can barely find it in you to make a squeak of surprise.
Jotaro.  Your obdurately truant helper.  Somehow his presence is even worse than his absence, especially with the way he silently stares you down.  What’s that glimmer in his eyes?  Are you sure you’re not just imagining it?
“Finally felt like coming to help out, Kujo?” You ask.  There’s an accusation in your voice, peeking out from the artificial indifference.  You try not to wince when you realize he definitely noticed it.
Your friend snickers.  “Figures he’d pick the one day someone else decided to you me do his work.  Well, we’re done here, but thanks for showing up, I guess.”
What is he even doing here?  You figured he’d quit campus the second the last bell rang, vanishing to parts unknown and deaf to everyone’s protests and whispers.
Jotaro doesn’t immediately reply.  He’s still standing there, filling the doorway with his overlarge frame.  Blocking you in here, and the worst part is that he’s probably not even conscious of doing it.  Jotaro’s just...horribly inconsiderate like that.  You're apprehensive--like approaching a strange dog--but nonetheless make to move past him, knowing that he won’t move an inch unless he decides he wants to.  To your (quickly swallowed; it’s not like he scares you) relief, he does, and you don’t even brush against him as you step into the hallway.  Your friend is quick to follow behind you, flipping their hair in obvious contempt, and ushers you down the hallway.  No, that’s not right--away from him.
“You know, I heard he’s been hanging around campus more than usual.” They whisper, leaning in.  It’s harsh, loud enough that he could easily pick it up even from where he’s standing, and he’s obviously meant to.  “Weird, right?  Everyone knows he doesn’t care about school.”  They throw an exaggerated, suspicious glance over their shoulder at him.  A warning rises in your throat--surely they’re smarter than to actively provoke Jotaro--but you don’t have the courage to voice it.  Just what is it that you’re afraid of?
“I bet he’s blackmailing someone.  Or stealing,” they continue offhandedly, counting on their fingers.  “Or stalking.  Really, I bet he’ll do anything.  I don’t get why he hasn’t just dropped out already.  Might be for the best that you don’t stay in a room alone with him, you could be next.  I wonder--”
“Don’t joke about it, please,” you interrupt, and your voice is back--as wobbly and shaky and ugly as it was when you first started singing.  “I don’t want to think about that stuff.”
“I feel you,” they nod sagely, apparently oblivious to the fact that they’re the source of your distress, “maybe we can talk to the teacher and get you a new cleaning partner?”
The cozy solitude of your classroom is stripped away.  You’re back in an ugly, chaotic world full of people who aren’t safe, and your voice can’t protect you from them.  It’s a horrible thought, one that sours your overpriced soda and throws you off your game.  When you say good-bye and part ways as you head home, your tapes are still forgotten in your pocket; all you can think about is the look on Jotaro’s face when you turned back to look at him.
Your friend doesn’t come to school the next day.  Apparently they got into an accident on their way home.  They broke both legs.

Boss Baby | pt. 2
Tumblr media
boss baby pt. 1
let me know what you think! x
It is now my fifth day at work, and so far so good...I guess.
“Good morning.” I greeted Shawn as I gave him his coffee.
“Good morning, Lexine.” He greeted back, quite cheerfully. “I want you to join me for that outside meeting, just for additional note taking when I miss something.” He said before entering his office.
I look at Nancy nervously and she just nods at me for reassurance that I can do this. “Just make sure you listen and take note of everything.” Nancy said before going back to work.
“Let’s go.” Shawn was suddenly in front of me without noticing and was sipping on his coffee.
I took all the necessities before standing up and nodding to Shawn. “Let’s go.” I grinned.
“So, there are going to be breaks in between this meeting. All I need for you to do really is just take down everything important then send them to me when the whole thing is done. This is a major deal so hope that everything goes well.” He said all in one breath as we got on the elevator and rode it down to the parking lot.
“Good morning, Mr. Mendes. Where to?” The company driver, who was waiting for us at the lot, asked.
“I’ll drive. You can take the rest of the day off.” Shawn nodded and took the keys from him.
“Thank you, sir. Drive safe.” He responded and went to the locker room for the staff.
“You know, you don’t have to be so awkward with me.” Shawn snickered.
“But you’re my boss. So, I think I have to?” I said, which ended up sounding more like a question.
“No, you don’t.” He argued, opening the door to the passenger side of the car and helped me get in.
Okay, Lexine. Breathe in. Breathe out.
“So,” Shawn mumbled as he got in the car and started it. “How is working for my company going so far?”
Besides the fact that I slept with my boss? “It’s all good.” I reply simply. “The environment is pretty good, and the people are amazing.”
“Including the boss?” He joked as we drove to the venue.
“Meh.” I shrugged.
He gasped exaggeratedly and clutched his heart feigning hurt. “Meh? How dare you.” He looked at me with this overly fake shocked face which got me giggling. Cute.
“I guess the boss is cool too.” I sigh like I’m being forced to say this.
“Okay, I’ll accept that.” Shawn just chuckled at me.
I feel like I can finally breathe comfortably now that we’ve had this kind of interaction.
“Anyway, we got to talk some business first.” He said seriously, finally going back to the boss man that he is.
I quickly took my phone to type in whatever he has to say about the deal that was going to happen.
“We need this author to publish his book through us. He’s actually had some books published, but it didn’t gain any recognition. This is where we come in.” Shawn stated, glancing at me. “In this meeting, I will be pitching to him and his team of creators how we’ll get him rich. Meaning, after the contract signing, there will be the editing process, then comes the actual publishing of the book, and then finally, marketing.”
I was face-to-face with my phone as I try to type everything word per word.
“You don’t have to type everything.”
“I might forget the stuff.” I scratched the back of my head like a little kid who was faced with complicated math problems.
“You don’t have to remember the stuff.” He chuckled.
“Sure?”
“Yes, this is just the basics of a publisher.” He smiled at me reassuringly.
“Okay, okay. So, all I have to do later is take note of what the other party is saying?” I asked.
“Yes.”
“Don’t we have people who meet with authors like him?”
“We do, but I feel the need to do this on my own.” Shawn shrugged at me, answering my question.
After a few more minutes of driving, we finally arrive to the venue of this meeting. It was a coffee shop where they had conference rooms for meetings like these, and I could see that people were already sitting there. We were ushered upstairs by this waitress who couldn’t stop staring at Shawn. I know right, sis.
Anyway, as we got upstairs, there was a good-looking man, probably our age, sitting at the top of the table. There were also other people sitting on both his sides at the table.
The good-looking dude stood up and met Shawn halfway before shaking his hand. “Hey, I’m Tyler Ryle, and this is my team.” He said, pointing to the other people at the table.
“Good morning, I’m Shawn Mendes.” My boss greeted back, shaking his hand. “This is Lexine Knightly, she’s our scribe.” He let go of Tyler’s hand and put a hand on my shoulder, introducing me to everyone.
I put my hand up for a little wave before following Shawn to the other end of the table. He pulled my chair out for me, and waited for me to sit down before sitting opposite Tyler. What a gentleman, hmm.
I took my laptop out from the bag and set it up, and saw Shawn waiting for me. I nodded to him, telling him it was okay to start now.
“Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with SM Publishing.” Shawn said, starting off the meeting. He continued on to talk business and I was just watching him, quite amazed.
A little after two hours, two waitresses came and brought us coffee, a basket of muffins for snacks and small plates.
Shawn was still speaking when he reached over to get two plates and put muffins on each of them. “I’ve got all the best people to help work on everything before and after publishing your book.” He said, placing one plate in front of me and smiled at me before grabbing two cups of coffee and placed one also in front of me.
“Thank you.” I smiled at him gratefully.
“What about us?” One person from Tyler’s team asked.
“There will not be any changes regarding your team, so basically what’s going to happen is that you and our team will work together for this book, and all future books of Tyler.” Shawn answered confidently to which Tyler nodded, looking like he liked the idea.
Shawn was looking at Tyler expectantly, and he just nodded again which got Shawn grinning like a little kid on Christmas. “Is that a yes?”
Tyler did not say anything, instead he pointed to the contract that Shawn was holding and got his pen.
Shawn stood up and went to bring the contract to Tyler, and they both signed the contracts. After the contract signing, we stayed for a while to chitchat some more regarding the book.
It was now a little over noon, Shawn and I bid our goodbyes to everyone and went back to the car.
“This calls for a celebration! Cancel the rest of my meetings today!” Shawn woo-ed in the car before starting it and driving towards somewhere.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes! So where do you want to eat?” He asked.
“Anywhere’s good for me.” I shrugged, scrolling through the company phone cancelling and rescheduling all of his meetings.
“Do you like Japanese?”
“Yeah.” I answer, my attention still on the phone.
After a little while we arrive at this cute little Japanese restaurant. He parked the car and got down first then went to the passenger side and opened the door for me.
“Oh, thank you.” I grabbed his waiting hand and got out of the car. “So, is this where you bring all your scribes?” I joked, looking around at the vicinity.
“Nope, just you.” He opened the door for me and winked as I passed him.
As we sat down and got our orders taken, Shawn was in a phone call for a few minutes and I was texting my best friend.
Anniebee sent you a message. Wru? R u available for lunch?
You sent a message to Anniebee. Im out w my boss
Anniebee sent you a message. OOOOOOH is this mr sexy boss mendes
You sent a message to Anniebee. Ure stupid bye
I put my phone back in my pocket and Shawn was done with his call and was just looking at me.
“Well, congratulations Mr. Mendes.” I grinned.
“Congratulations to us.” He put his glass of water up for a toast and I clinked my glass with his. “So, how’s life going for you?” He said, awkwardly starting a conversation.
“Life’s going good.” I nodded, thinking about what’s been going on lately. “Everything’s right where I want it to be. How about you?” I asked back, still with the awkwardness making him chuckle.
“I could actually say the same.” He sighed. “Did you know that a lot of other publishing firms are trying to get Tyler too?” My mouth opened to an inaudible ‘oh’ which he nodded to. “Yeah, so anyway, this is a huge achievement for us.”
“I’m amazed.” I blurted out.
“What? Why?” Shawn chuckled at my sudden outburst.
“Because, you know, you’re young and you’ve already got this whole company so successful.”
“Well, the company wasn’t mine to begin with so...” He trailed off. “My grandfather started this, then passed it on to my dad, and then my dad passed it on to me. You know, the typical dynasty type of thing.”
“Oh, okay.” I nodded in understanding. “But how old are you?”
“I’m turning 21 on August.”
“Holy shit, I’m a year older than you.” I stated in shock.
“Everybody in the company is older than me.” Shawn just shrugged nonchalantly, laughing softly.
The rest of lunch went by with just us talking about anything and everything from work to a little bit of our personal lives; and after paying for our meal, Shawn and I went back to the office to finish some leftover work for the day.

Jeno Boyfriend AU !
It’s been a while since I’ve done this so excuse the rust that clouds my writing. It shall clean with time. (lmao that made no sense)
anyway
lets get to it !
OKay so we gonna do a like getting together story because I’m a lonely roll
School ! no one loves it
except for that one weird kid in the back of your class
you ride the bus alone
and you meet your friends when you get to school, suffer for a bit, eat lunch, suffer a bit more, cry, -lmao you get the point
then you ride the bus home again
alone
someone bout to change that
Jeno hardly goes to school because of schedules
and crazy fangirls lmao
promotions had just ended tho
so now he’s stuck in this hell hole with everyone else
he rides the bus with Renjun and loud ass  Chenle
also Jisung but he has to stand up because that boy too tall
Renjun is usually drawing, Chenle is doing last minute hm, and Jisung is trying to figure out how to kill himself with that hand strap thing if he has to stand up while riding this god forsaken bus one more time lmao
tHATS WHEN
he notices that theres a girl who goes to their school (and doesn’t chase them down like a maniac) and always sits alone in the back of the bus
so he gets his nerves out of the way and asks if he can sit next to you because he hates doesn’t want to stand
and ofc ur like “Ya sure my dude”
Things are honestly v quiet and weird to start off with
and he always is looking at you with his mouth opening and closing like a dam fish
so you start up convo
“whats ur name ?”
“Jisung”
“Nice, I’m y/n”
Jisung is honestly relieved because obviously you don’t know who they are if you asked for his name.
“What are you listening to?”
you hand him one of your ear buds and thats how u two become friends
You two listen to EXO all the time on the way to and back from school
The group™ asks where he’s been and Jisung is just like “I made a new friend”
The group™ watch you two like all the time lmao
especially Jeno
soon enough you are talking about classes and such
“Hey! You have the same classes as my friend Jeno!”
jeno ???
Jisung never really talked about his friends tbh
you figured he didn’t have any since he was standing all alone
LMAO RIP JISUNG
anyway so you ask to meet his other friends and he’s like suRE
He told you that they ride the same bus
u were dumbfounded
you agreed to meet them after school at an ice cream shop
The ride to the ice cream shop that day was like playing where is Waldo
“Is that them?”
“no”
“Them??” “still no”
“The bus driver ???”
“What- nO”
“well I’ve guessed everyone on this bus so i just figured-”
“Oh my god you’re the worst”
When you finally got to the ice cream shop you were kinda annoyed because you had guessed them but he said no
“You owe me ice cream now”
“for what”
“,,,,,ummm,,,,emotional distress”
“You’re so dramatic lmao”
he still didn’t buy you ice cream
When you all sat down it was really quiet and weird
You and Jisung sat next to each other on one side of the table sharing earbuds and everyone else was on the other side
“are u 2 dating or what” - Chenle
“No oh my god they’re ugly” - Both u and Jisung
everyone ended up laughing
“My name is y/n, nice to finally meet you all. Tbh I didn’t even know you guys existed till this morning.”
Chenle gasped and held his chest and pretended to have a heart attack or something but it just looked like a dolphin out of water
then Renjun body slammed Chenle into the ground while Jisung cheered Renjun on by yelling “WORLD STAR WORLD STAR WORLD STAR”
thats when you knew these were a fine™ group of boys
while the younger ones are off trying to keep Chenle from jumping all over the place
you strike up convo with Jeno
“Hey ur in my grade right”
turns out you have the same first period and 5th
you two hit it off nicely and get really involved in convo
you two don’t even notice chenle, renjun and jisung leave
until you look at your phone to check the time and see a text
From: Jising sang sung
Have fun on your date lmao
Que you laughing but also planning his murder
Jeno walks you home because you live close
what a gentleman
the next day at school you sit next to Jeno in first period
for the next month you two get close
group projects, free time, ext
you even start sitting with him at lunch
he even replaced Jisung on the bus
bye bye Jisung
Until one day
Jeno isn’t there
neither are the boys™
SO your dumb ass finally put 2 + 2 together
Jeno was an Idol
so you did some Research™
If found my new punch line its ™
and BOOM
The boys™ are actually NCT Dream
so you start watching some of their MV’s
and like wow
Jeno is a visual ?
And he can Dance?
And hes super sweet
Thump thump is that a crush growing ?
i think so
You decide to keep it a secret that you know
and wait till he tells you
after a week you text him
To: jeNO Bub where you at :(((((   Still Sick ?  To: jeNO I miss you and  >:’0 GET BETTER SOON HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME
He didn’t reply till like 3 am lmao
and it was just “Oof ya its a real uh nasty cold,,,,be back soon !!!”
and ur like laughing because you know that he has a comeback soon but he out here pretending to be sick lmao
what a dork
After a month you start becoming really impatient
and he still hasn’t replied to your 50 unread messages
after the second month you stop texting
on the third month you stop saving his seat
on the fourth month you move back to your old seat
you check your messages one last time and you see that your 125 unread messages remain unread
a couple of weeks later you hear a roar of girls in the halls
and they are comping your way
and u don’t know why tbh and ur terrified
but they just run right pass you????
escaped death
but you just continue to the lunch room to sit with your friends
but someone grabs your shirt sleeve panting
“y- y-y/n”
“Jeno ??????”
And ur like happy but also pissed
“You mug where were you ??? Why didn’t you answer my texts!! Ive been worried you know that! I checked my messages every day for 2 months ! Two months Jeno ISTG u better explain urself rn or I’m deleting your number”
“I know I know Just its- I don’t know how to say this but uh okay follow me and I’ll explain everything”
So he takes you to the fountain our front and explains that he’s an idol and everything and he got really busy with comebacks and felt bad for lying to you about being sick and he didn’t want to keep that up for four months because he would have to have some real bad illness for it to last four months and he didn’t want to have to pretend to be in the hospital and everything just because he had promotions but didn’t wanna tell you because he was afraid you would look at him differently and-
tbh u were like shut up you mug I already knew you were an idol but it still hurt :(
and he was so sorry this poor kicked puppy
“How can I make it up to you?”
“A date would be nice”
“A-a date?”
“yea I think the ice cream shop would do, you’re paying btw”
“Wait you like me??”
“,,,well ya ? I wouldn’t have asked you on a date otherwise”
“Oh okay good. I like you too!”
“Can I call you my boyfriend now or???”
“I’d like that, Girlfriend”
“Stop oh my god you’re greasy”
and he just laughs with his eyes like crescent moons

HI I JUST FOUND UR FANFICS TODAY AND THEY'RE SO GOOD IM WORKING MY WAY THROUGH THEM AND I AM IN TEARS (GOOD TEARS) LOL PLS CONTINUE WRITING
This hurts me, you’re so nice and sweet and I appreciate the compliments and the fact that you actually are reading through my fics? and liking them too like wow. I really suck at angst and I’ve been working my mind around how to do this without hurting my fragile usuk heart ya know. But anyway, I wished I knew who you are so I could personally thank you, but I guess it’s alright like this. It might not be what you expected but I hope you like it?
An Old Tale
“I wished you could’ve seen him, Al. He has this– this charm that I just can’t explain! And I haven’t even talked to him, how amazing is that?” Alfred watched as his childhood friend fawned over the human he saw the day before, a melancholic smile on his face that went unnoticed by Arthur.
“That’s great, Artie! I hope you get to see him again.” No, he didn’t. Mermaids were to stay away from humans and Alfred was beyond concerned for his best friend.
“Hope? Oh, my dear Alfred, I’m not hoping to see him again, I will definitely see him again.” The mischievous smile and dangerous glint in the eyes he knew so well told Alfred that his friend was thinking about something, something terrible.
Alfred was really unsure on whether he should ask or not, but he opted for the former, “What do you mean by that, Artie?“
Arthur took his time to answer, until he abruptly swam towards Alfred, barely containing his giggles, he said, "I’m going to ask the Sea Witch for help."
Silence.
It took a moment for Alfred to process what he just heard, there was no way that Arthur, the smart and collected Arthur would do something so– so insane!
"Arthur, you can’t be serious. You out of all the people should know that the Sea Witch means trouble!"
Arthur’s smile fell, replaced by one that showed only annoyance, "I  know Alfred, I know. But how else do you expect me to meet him? He could be my soulmate. I thought you’d understand me, but I was wrong.” Without another word, Arthur swam towards the Sea Witch’s cave.
Alfred didn’t know what to say, but he knew he had to say something- anything. “What if he’s not your soulmate? What if you’re actually running away from your real soulmate?” he called out before he could lose sight of Arthur. He could tell that Arthur stopped to consider it.
With a bittersweet smile, Arthur turned around, “I’m willing to take that risk.” With that, Arthur turned around and swam even more determined.
That was the last time Alfred saw Arthur for another three days.
Three days later,  Arthur and Alfred met again, only that the green-eyed man had a pair of skinny legs instead of the beautiful emerald colored tail he used to have before.  Somehow Arthur had lost his voice, probably thanks to the witch, and he also seemed to be in an extreme pain whenever he would “walk”.
The blue-eyed merman somehow caught on what was going on thanks to Arthur writing it down on the sand. Apparently, if he kissed the human he fell in love with, and it turned out he wasn’t his true soulmate, Arthur would turn into foam. However, Arthur didn’t seem to be scared, in fact, he seemed quite confident in his choice.
The human and Artur got along just fine, but the human didn’t seem interested in Arthur in a more than friendly way. Something that both Arthur and Alfred noticed. This set Arthur on taking matters into his own hands. Alfred would always tell him to give up and to come back home, but Arthur would never listen.
Arthur’s plan failed miserably. As soon as he touched anything that was water he would turn into sea foam. Alfred couldn’t let that happen, so he told Arthur to stay away from the shore for a while, but without leaving it.
Arthur waited a day, and when Alfred finally came back he told Arthur that he made a deal with the Sea Witch in exchange for something valuable, so that neither of them were affected. Arthur could finally come back into the water. He was so happy he jumped straight into Alfred’s arms.
The thing was, though, that Alfred lied.
He made a deal with the Sea Witch that when Arthur entered the water, Alfred would turn into sea foam instead of Arthur.
The green-eyed merman noticed instantly what was happening and with fat tears coming out of eyes, he demanded Alfred tell him why would he do such a reckless thing.
Alfred’s reply was, “I’d do anything for my soulmate."
Well then I think it’s safe to say that this took a darker turn unexpectedly sooo imma leave it up to you what happened to Arthur because to me he died too because he was too heartbroken ANYWAY I HOPE U LIKE IT OKAY BYE NOW

Cover Requests (ft. Kim Taehyung) Part 1
Hey everyone! This is my first fic here back on Tumblr! I hope you enjoy, and thank you @daegukkie for being the amazing catalyst for this Drabble that took way too long sry
please take the time to give me some feedback! I’m a little rusty so any sort of constructive criticism is always so so helpful. Love you!
Tumblr media
→ Genre: fluff, bakery coworkers!au
→ Taehyung/Reader → 1.2k words → Summary: adventurous and weird Taehyung keeps asking for shift covers and basically he comes back with proof of these adventures and its weird, amazing, and you wanna get to know him
But every time, he ran into the bakery panting like he ran a mile, with a pair of ridiculous pink sweatpants with the tag still on them, or another time with grease stains all over his face and arms, or even with a handful of candles he bought from “an old granny on the street down there because she looked so cold and I wanted her to go home,” you got more and more confused and curious about this peculiar boy and his adventures.
Your phone dings and the familiar name of “KIM TAEHYUNG” pans over your home screen. Sliding your finger across the screen, the device opens up to the app your boss decided to use to organize your shifts at the bakery.
In jumbled type, the cover request opens up with “hi. pls help cover will pay back with love. went shopping for shoes and found hurt kitten thanks”
The words are all lowercase, and barely coherent. Like usual. This was the 6th time receiving such a request since you started working at the small bakery across your college campus 4 months ago. Each time Taehyung sent a cover request, it was something completely random and out of the blue.
You had seen, “sry lost my pants at movies will be there soon” to “currently forty min away, waiting for friend to jumpstart my car pls cover thx.” Each time, the requests were ridiculously exaggerated, to the point where there was a time when you doubted any of these were true.
He would always come back with such props or appearances and always have a short 2 minute story on what happened, short quips that had you always on edge and in wonder at the diversity and variety in one human’s life compared to your boring routine in college. It was your little secret, regarding your interest in Taehyung, and his adventures.
It just so happened that five out of those six times he'd sent such requests, you were either studying in the bakery or finishing up a shift. You had your fair share of requests as well, especially during midterm and finals season, so you were always willing to go the extra step to cover your coworkers. It was just coincidence however that the recent ones you had been covering were...well his.
You reply to his cover, agreeing to get to the bakery an hour earlier than you had expected. You pack up your things in the last class of the day, and as you slip pencils and folders into your backpack, a message notification pops up on the screen.
From: unknown
4:52 PM
“HEY ____!!! This is Tae from work; I just wanted to say thx for always covering me! ur the best I will repay u someday be there soon bye”
You chuckle and ignore the message, knowing that if you respond he probably would be too caught up in his mini adventure to notice anyway. After biking over and changing into the cute apron, you settle yourself at the register and begin frosting the batch of cupcakes the chef had just taken out of the oven. An hour into this you hear the distinct obnoxious jingle of the door that signifies not a customer, but someone a little too familiar with the store.
He's not sweating or huffing this time, but instead is wearing the biggest smile of triumph and holding a brown box in his hands. Catching your eye, he smiles even wider (how does he even smile so much???) and literally skips his way over to the register.
Leaning his entire upper body over the counter, he shoves his face extremely close to yours and lets out a low, “Hey, thanks again for saving my ass! Wanna know a secret, Y/N?”
Blinking, you step back and smile. “Hey Taehyung, and sure?” The sentence ends with a question.
Winking, he puts the brown box onto the counter, and takes a look around the bakery to make sure no customers or workers besides you two would be able to see the contents of the box, before removing the lid and slightly tipping it in your direction.
Inside, with a ragged but fluffy blue towel and a small toy, was a tiny kitten, scared but warm. You gasped, eyes widening at the sight, and Taehyung clapped a hand over your mouth and hurriedly closed the cover of the box. “Shhhh! If boss sees that I brought her to work, he’ll flip. I didn’t have time to go home and drop her off, also because she’s so scared.”
You’re still a little caught off guard, but quietly and hesitantly ask, “What are you gonna do? Do you need any help?”
You didn’t understand how, but his mischievous boxy smile got even bigger as he gestured for you to lean in to hear his whisper. “Y/N, I knew you’d be down to help! How about I take over the rest of the shift so you can get some homework done, but can you wait for me to finish in an hour and watch her? And at six, we can adventure to the vet together and I can buy you a meal and drop you off home after?”
Leaning back, you take a sec to think about his idea of an adventure. Taehyung’s huge eyes stare back at you under his dark brown fringe, some parts sticking out messily most likely from his rushed state. He was such an interesting figure, from his adventures to the way he doted on the small kitten. And it didn’t hurt that he was really cute. Really, really cute.
Live a little Y/N, you thought to yourself.
Clearing your throat, you nodded meekly, untying your apron. “Okay...I’ll be over at the back table doing my work.” He breaks out into a huge smile that almost splits his face in two, and bounds back behind the counter to take your apron. As he hands you the box, he leans down and give you a quick peck on your cheek.
Your face heats up with a ridiculous blush and the act makes you a stuttering mess, “Wh-wha-what was th-that for?”
Smiling with a mischievous smile again, but this time his hand comes to stroke the crown of your head. “That was for all the times I didn’t get to thank you for covering my shifts on such short notice. And this-” he leans down to your other cheek and lands another quick peck, “-is for just being cute.”
And then he turns away to clock in, and begins to take an order from a customer who had just walked up to the counter.
You’re left holding a box, with flushed face and jumbled mind. What does that mean? Does that mean he’s interested, or is he just being flirty? He just kissed me, twice!
As if hearing your thoughts, he looks over at you, winks, and gently gestures for you to go take a seat at the table with the kitten. Nodding, and trying not to make too much eye-contact in consideration for your poor heart, you slowly plop down and set the box gingerly by your side.
Laying your cheek against the table to cool it down, you peer down at the kitten through a crack between the box and the lid. The kitten just peers back up at you, cocking its head in some sort of unspoken question. You sigh, shrugging back at it.
Guess you’ll have to wait another hour before this adventure starts.
Part two coming very soon! And this au will most likely connect to other au!s. Thanks  for reading, let me know what you think!

Letting u go is the second hardest thing I've ever have to do, and keep caring about u, guessing what's going on w/u is the single hardest thing. I think about you everyday, I think about the day we can finally reunite but now it's never seems to be come true. But I want you to be there that's why I txt u everyday I send u snaps I share everything with you, and u just won't even bother to reply back, I know you cherish me like I do but why never tell me what's wrong you don't know how much u mean to me you don't know how u have impacted me, i met you 3 yrs ago in my most innocent age and you pretty much made who I am. I never tell you this enough I never tell you how special you are because I was too proud but I want you to know I really do, it just I'm never getting a second chance. I had this thought yrs before but it's only a glimpse and now it suddenly made sense, we bring the worst out of each other and I don't want to hurt myself anymore. U said I was ur sweet shadow and now I don't want to be it anymore, guess that's why u cut me off at the first place I'm just curious why do u even want me back. We haunted each other 3 yrs I thought I can never, never live without you but here I am, taking the hardest step, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm Sorry for everything I've done and I'm about to do, bye
