@mischiefxmuses (fleur weasley) prompt 6. the husks of corn emit a poisonous gas, making characters weaker the longer they breath it in
"Careful, love." Bill held an arm out to stop his wife from going forward. "Can you see that?" A yellowish cloud was wafting over the path, filling it from either side from the walls of corn. "We need to be careful. Here, it's not perfect but..." He untied the bandana from around his neck and unfolded it until it was a triangle. "I'll be alright, but let's get this around your mouth and nose." Anything to keep Fleur safe.

His arm wrapped around her, his hand smoothing gently over her hair. "Greyback didn't stop me, did he? We'll be just fine." Bill would be brave for the two of them if that's what it would take to put Fleur at ease. "There's no point in worrying about what's to come — we just take each day as it comes."
"They better not." Fleur wasn't sure she could handle losing him. They had been through everything together. She knew they were stronger together and now that their family was together. She wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his shoulder. She would always worry about him.

"Not a chance. A few plants aren't going to stop me." He'd always done fairly well in Herbology, although sentient and violent corn had never been on the curriculum. "It's going to take more than roots and leaves to keep me from you, Fleur, I can promise you that." They'd survived a war, everything else was easy compared to that.
"Good. I am not about to lose you to plants." Fleur mumbled. The maze had been her downfall in the tournament and being back in one brought those memories back. She smiled at his acknowledgement. "I just can't bare the thought of losing you... I am just frustrated, not at you but the situation." She admitted.

"I know that now." But he could only hope that there would be another time for him to head into a maze. Certainly wasn't something that he was eager to revisit. "I know, love, I know." Bill sighed softly. "I was trying to be careful, but how was I supposed to know that the corn would grow teeth and bite me? I was never very good at divination in school." The class was good for a cup of tea and a nap and not much more than that.
"Never trust a maze, Amour." Fleur smiled softly at him. The maze back home had been too much for her, she had been a teenager. She never wanted to experience something like that again. She began bandaging his arm, making sure to do it well and properly. "I know it could have been worse and you did but we need to be careful, Bill." Seeing him in the hospital once was enough for her and she never wanted to see him in that position again. "I need you."

Crossing the room, he sat down on the bed and passed her the bandage. "I was expecting weird shit to be in the maze, but I wasn't expecting the maze itself to be lethal." But Fleur had more experience of terrifying mazes than he did thanks to the Triwizard Tournament. "So do I. But it could have been worse. I think I got lucky. At least you didn't get hurt too much. But this?" He tipped his head towards his arm. "I won't be feeling it in a day or two."
Fleur had been so worried about the injury to his bicep. She was glad it was only that but it could have been so worse. Still she would always worry. "Of course." She placed her book down, motioning for him to sit on their bed. "Well we sort of should have realized from the moment we found ourselves in there." She replied with a shrug before picking up the bandage. "I still wish you hadn't gotten hurt..."

"Help me with the bandage, will you?" Bill asked as he walked into their bedroom. "Who'd have thought that corn could do so much damage?" His head shook, turning his arm to look at the stitched wound on his bicep. "You know, I thought it would be easy to wrap this myself but it's not something you can do one-handed."
"It might. We can try it but doesn't it require water?" Fleur looked over at her husband, holding onto his arm. She was doing her best to not breath that much to make sure she wasn't inhaling too much of the fumes. She was mostly just glad that she was with him.

His head shook. "Please, love." He held it out to her before pausing. "Do you think that Bubble-Head Charm would work for this?" Or was it too late for them, he wondered? Either way, he'd be getting Fleur out of there as quickly as he could manage, hoping that the other parts of the maze wouldn't be affected in the same way.
Fleur had been looking around when Bill stopped her from walking forwards with his arm. She looked to where he pointed and she could see the yellowish cloud coming forward towards them. "Bill you need something too. Cover your mouth with it. I can use my sleeve." She smiled at him, placing her hand on his arm. It was always so kind that he'd look out for her but she needed to protect him too.
