“To you, with love.”
SUMMARY: You and Tom do the interview with puppies, and at the end of it, a truth is revealed.
“Tickle, tickle, tickle.”
“Get in there, guys.”
“Hello beautiful.”
“You can go to sleep and come to live with (Y/N) and I to our apartment. Darling, there is no other option but to get married and adopt these puppies.” Tom teases you, winking at you as he plays with the puppies in front of him.
You look away after a while of looking at him, but every minute, every second your heart is ahead of you and makes you think and wonder what is that exciting feeling that you have every time you look into his eyes full of love.
The stage is set for you two as you sit in front of the cameras, in a pink background.
“Hello everyone, my name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N) and I play Avery in Spiderman: no way home and Anna in the film adaptation of the book Anna and the French kiss.”
"I love those." Tom says and shoots you a flirtatious look, making you laugh as he points in your direction before saying the next words, full of pride. “Hi, I'm Tom Holland, I’m her boyfriend and we are going to get married to adopt these puppies."
"Stop it." You say shyly, holding back a smile, although if you and Tom Holland could choose your favorite place in the world, to live in an eternity, it would be next to each other, no matter where you two were, but, as best friends, as everyone in the world knows you two for.
“I play Peter Parker and Étienne St. Clair and we're here with Buzzfeed Celeb to play with these puppies while answering questions, so let’s get started and please bring the puppies!"
What is the best part of playing Avery and Peter?
“Well… For me one of the best parts was to work with…” You leave the answer half-hearted as Tom raises his eyebrows playing with the puppies, sweetly waiting for you to say his name and not that of another great actor or actress with whom you had the opportunity to share screen during that time. "Tom Holland of course.”
"Yes!" Tom sings victory when he hears his name, and he smiles beautifully, because Tom has the most beautiful smile you have ever seen, with those autumn-colored eyes and semi-long hair that make him look like an angel or a dream that you would never want to wake up from, and in that moment, you wonder how he is still a silent and unattainable love even when you had him by your side, so close, yet, so unreachable. "She loves me very much."
"I could say other great names, but... well." You feign seriousness as he shoots you a doubtful look, making you laugh when he looks hurt for a second as you hold a puppy. “The best thing about playing Avery is that we see how her personality evolves throughout these three movies, her starting out as someone closed and tough to someone you can trust with your life because you know she will protect you, because she learned to trust in those who showed her sincerity, like Peter.”
"Yeah, you're right, I mean... for me the best thing was seeing these two characters grow." Tom says, following the thread of the conversation. “I loved the fight sequences that we had that we got to do ourselves. We both trained hard to be able to play the characters that we dream of at some point in our lives so that's great. And I think what makes it so special is that there was real chemistry between us, which is why you can see Peter and Avery so close in the movie. The same with Anna and Étienne."
Is it true that on the poster for Spider-man: No Way Home, isn't that Tom Holland?
"I'm not." Tom laughs.
"It's definitely not, that's not his body."
"Aw, look at her how she knows my body so well." Tom wags his eyebrows at the camera, earning a smack on the arm from you making him laugh. “But no, it's not really me. Also, when have you seen me do that pose on camera? It's strange!"
"Now I'm curious to know who is the person behind that pose. Right, baby?" You say to the puppy in your arms.
“Right, darling.” Tom answer.
Wasn't it strange to have kissed several times in the movies considering that they are best friends?
You and Tom look at each other for a moment, your cheeks turning pink from the question you both silently asked yourselves.
“We try to be as professional as possible.” Tom says, scratching the belly of another puppy. “I think the kisses we gave each other came out naturally because of the love we have for each other. It wasn't uncomfortable at all."
In a certain part it was true. You've known each other since you were kids, but your feelings for him got in the way every time you had to do a romantic scene, yet you were as professional as possible.
If you could be in any other series or movie, what would it be?
“I would like to participate in temptation. (Y/N) is doing super well there and it's a great story. I would like to be a part or at least do a cameo.”
"I can make some calls." You laugh, though you're also serious if it means having him around for months again.
If you weren't a movie star, what profession would you have chosen?
"Tom would definitely have been a carpenter." You joke.
"I think so." He laughs. “I'm not good at math but I'm good at putting things together. I think (Y/N) would have been a doctor or a vet, she loves animals. That's why she doesn't eat meat, although she doesn't know what she's missing."
Could it be possible that there is a relationship between you not told to the public?
You and Tom laugh awkwardly.
“We've been friends pretty much since we were born,” says Tom. “Our moms have been best friends since college and when they both got pregnant the same year it was like: our kids have to be best friends too. But with us it happened naturally, we grew up together, we like the same things and we are united. (Y/N) knows that I love her with all my heart.”
With a puppy in his arms, Tom lies in your lap and gives the camera a sweet smile.
Do you know that fans ship you two together?
“I've seen a lot of that online." You reply. “We have seen a lot of fan art about us, we have seen requests for us to participate together in different book-to-film adaptations because they say we would do a great job together. I think it's lucky that the fans like us so much.”
Have you practiced kissing scenes in private or is it something that comes naturally?
Tom chuckles.
“I will leave that question to the public imagination. Since we even won an MTV award for best kiss, 2 times, I'll leave the fans curious."
As the interview flows, you innocently play and flirt a little from time to time, just to soothe that pain of not being able to be together, although neither of you knows exactly why.
Sometimes, life happens in a second, and for Tom Holland and you, falling in love, too.
And even if you don't know it, Tom hates that you're his best friend in the world, because under the starry nights when you can't sleep and you sneak into each other's room to talk, wherever you two are, or just to exist in each other's company. You look like an angel, his angel, his darling as he usually calls you with the appropriate tone of best friend, because no one can know about his love for you. Except everyone knows, that's for sure, except you, but that's fine as long as you don't discover the secret that lies deep in his heart where his love for you will last forever. Tom is selfish, he knows it, because he went out with some girls to try to erase all traces of you, because he knows that one day soon you will fall in love with someone other than him, and even though that hurts his soul.
Tom secretly hates his love for you, but the secret of his hate is for your beauty, for the way you see the world through your eyes, as beautiful and deep as the uncharted ocean itself, for your free heart when you do things so that everyone is happy, for your tender smile that you give to everyone equally without thinking about their weak and fragile heart, and for that blessed dimple that forms on your left cheek when you smile and your eyes do too.
As you two both reach the limo that will take them back to your hotel, you both smile at each other now that the adrenaline has passed and only calm remains in the solitude of the car.
"I think we did great, didn't we, darling?"
"I think so." You say with a certain sadness, because sometimes, you do want to be his darling, but you know that everything had a limit, but you know too that one day you would cross the line that divided friendship from love, and that day, with the force with which you lied saying that there was nothing between you, you decide to tell the truth. "Oh, by the way, I'm going to adopt one of the puppies so we can get married and live happily ever after."
Tom looks at you in astonishment, but his stupor only lasts a few seconds, because for he, brave this time and armed only with the truth of the love he felt for you for half his life, leans down to kiss you softly on the lips before talk.
"I can not wait."

Your co-star, Chris, hears about your ideal date in an interview and decides to take you up on it for your birthday. After that night, you begin to wonder if there’s something more there.
-
“You ready, Y/n?” Chris asked as he adjusted his sweater sleeve around his watch, looking over at you. It was your first interview together of what would be many. You were paired together on the press tour because you had chemistry, despite not having many scenes together, and this morning was Buzzfeed. No pressure, right?
“As I’ll ever be,” you responded. You were friendly with him, mostly because you were friends.
“Don’t be nervous, they’re great,” he said, putting a hand on your back. “I’m the only one in that room about to make a fool of myself. Trust me.” You walked from the green room together to the stage area, where you sat down and they gave you both microphone packs. Yours was hanging off the back of your romper, but his was fixed securely to his shirt.
“Alright, we have a quiz for you guys,” one of the producers said to the both of you, putting out two laptops in front of you. “What we’re gonna do is you’ll read the question out loud and you’ll answer and kind of talk us through the answer. If we need to change an angle we’ll stop. Sound good?”
“Sounds good,” you replied at the same time Chris did. That made him chuckle and elbow you a little bit. You started the first two questions as easy enough – pick your favorite puppy and choose your dream job if you weren’t an actor. And then the third question came – what was your ideal date in New York City?
“We have a picnic in Central Park, a day at the MOMA, brunch on the Upper East Side, or ice skating,” Chris said. “I think… I don’t know. They’re all good ideas. But I really like just talking to someone, getting to spend time with them, so it’s either brunch or the picnic.” He looked over at you with a little smile, urging you to answer.
“I don’t know! They’re all cute ideas. But I’ve literally never been on a date that didn’t end in some kind of disaster. I think a picnic in Central Park is really cute, though. I’m definitely going with that one.”
“But bugs!” Chris said, obviously trying to bring you out of your shell.
“But it’s such a cute idea! If you’re with the right person bugs won’t matter.” Chris sighed and clicked on his answer and you clicked on yours.
“I hate it when you’re right,” he replied with a sly smile, moving onto the next question that it was your turn to read. You noticed that he threw his arm behind you on the chair as he laughed at a question. It was a natural move, not a planned one, and he was laughing his head off.
“See!” He said an hour later after you finished. “I promised you’d be fine.” They were taking the mic packs away from you and you were going to your next individual interview with them.
“I guess,” you replied.
“Your birthday’s coming up, right?” He asked.
“Tomorrow. Nobody likes you when you’re 23 though, right?” You referenced Blink-182, one of your favorite bands, and one that you and Chris had jammed out to many mornings in the makeup trailer when you just happened to be there at the same time.
“Then we should do something. Come on, let me take you out and buy you a drink.”
“You don’t have to,” you insisted, “I’m sure you have friends in town that you wanna see.”
“No, I want to. Come on. Please?” You eventually accepted and started to walk to the other interview after squeezing Chris’s arm in thanks. If you had eyes in the back of your head, you would have seen his eyes lingering on you as you walked away and you definitely would have wondered why.
Your birthday came and you answered a few messages, just saying you were planning on going out with Chris after another long day of press. He was extra nice to you all day – he brought you coffee in the morning, he bought your lunch even though he wasn’t there, and he told you he had a surprise.
“What kind of surprise?” You asked for the millionth time. You were getting out of your final interview.
“You’ll see when we get there!” He insisted. “Just go clean up and don’t eat anything. I’ll meet you in the lobby at seven, okay?”
“Can you at least tell me what outfit to wear?” You asked. He opened the taxi door for you that would take you back to your hotel.
“Fine. We’ll be outside, so dress for sixty-three degrees.”
“Alright, Captain.” That was the end of your conversation – you took another shower, put on more makeup, and then waited for Chris in the lobby. He was approximately two minutes late, but he was smiling so much that you couldn’t help but let it slide.
“So are you going to tell me where we’re going?” You asked as he walked with you outside. He grinned.
“Nope. Just walk with me and everything will be fine.” You chose to do what he said, knowing that he wouldn’t do anything crazy because he knew you didn’t like doing particularly crazy things – he had learned a lot about you after six tequila shots on the first couple of nights filming. You walked alongside him, just making conversation, and walked for about ten blocks before he pulled out his phone. Probably just to look at a map.
“So are you going to tell me now?”
“No!” He elbowed you with a grin on his face. “We’re going into the park. I’ll tell you that much.”
“Aww!”
“Yeah, yeah, just keep walking before I change my mind!” You giggled and followed him as he laid a hand on your back, walking into one of the park’s many entrances across from the Dakota. You kept looking over at him to see that he was looking for something, or someone, and you walked on the outskirts of the park for another minute or two before he looked at his phone again. He looked like he realized something and he led you over to one of the less crowded areas of grass. You saw an empty blanket that looked slightly familiar, and on top of it was a bag of takeout. It only took you a second – he’d listened to you in that interview and given you a picnic in Central Park.
“Chris!” You said, grabbing onto his arm. He had a shit-eating grin on his face as he led you over.
“Did I do okay for a birthday dinner?” He asked. You stood up tall, hugging him even though it slightly smeared your makeup, and sat down. He pulled two bottles of beer out of the bag, your favorite beer, and un-capped them as you found a place to sit on the blanket.
“How are you so sweet?” You asked him. “You didn’t have to do this.”
“Yeah, I did!” He said as he handed you a bottle of beer and started to unpack the food. You hadn’t heard of the restaurant on the bag’s label, but when Chris pulled out your favorite Italian food, you almost died. Almost. “Look, you said in that interview that you’ve never had a date that didn’t end in disaster. So let me change that.”
“You’re the best.”
“I know. I know. But I’m not taking any credit, it was technically Buzzfeed’s idea. You just picked that answer.” You smiled and crossed your legs, and you and Chris started eating the massive amount of food he’d brought because he said he didn’t quite know what your favorite was. He hit it completely, and after downing another beer after eating, you were just sitting there as the sun set. You could barely see it through all of the trees and buildings, but it was orange and purple and gorgeous. It started to cool down by the time you were throwing your trash away and folding up the blanket. It was the blanket Chris always brought on planes.
“Have I mentioned that you’re the best?” You said as you started walking back. You both had temporary MetroCards, but decided just to walk. It gave you more time together, and even though you weren’t sure that was his motive, you were glad to get the time with him. You loved being around him, hearing all of his stories, and hearing about the website he was working on. He was so passionate about everything and it made you want to fall in love with the world in the same way that he did. And he was the ultimate gentleman, having you go in front of him, taking your arm or your hand to guide you.
All too soon, though, the doorman was opening the hotel doors for you and you got inside the elevator. Chris had been smiling the entire time and so had you. Your face hurt and your makeup had smile lines, but you loved being with him. The elevator got to your floor and he walked you out toward your door, even though his was on the next floor up. He stopped in front of your door as you grabbed the key, slightly opening the door.
“Thank you, Chris. Nobody else would’ve done that for me.”
“Hey, you deserve it. I couldn’t believe you’ve never been on a good date before, you’re 23.”
“Not for another hour.” He chuckled.
“Right. Well, happy birthday.” Maybe it was the two beers because you were such a lightweight. Maybe it was because you were just feeling bold despite what a Blink-182 song said about being 23. But you stood on your toes and kissed his cheek, feeling him start to blush underneath you as you grabbed his arm.
“Thank you,” you said again. He was beaming. You didn’t know why, but maybe it was just because he liked that you were happy. Or maybe it was something more. You didn’t want to think about it, though.
“Good night, Y/n. Sleep tight and I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” He closed your door behind you and you walked into your hotel room, taking off your shoes, and you started texting a group of your friends about the night. Most of them seemed to agree – Chris liked you. Even if it wasn’t completely obvious, he liked you. He was a nice person, sure, but he wouldn’t do that for just anybody. And he wouldn’t blush like that. You took off your nice clothes and started getting ready to go to bed, opening an email from the press agent about the next day’s schedule and questions that you might be asked. This was for a women’s magazine, of course, because your movie was kind of romantic enough to be considered a romantic comedy. Your producers knew your market.
Most of the questions were just normal – tell us about the movie, about your characters, about the relationship your characters have with each other. But then they started getting deeper and you grinned at one of the last few – what do you do when you like a guy/girl? What’s your tell?
This was about to get more complicated. You knew that and you were fine with it. If your friends were right, you had an opportunity to shoot your shot. And you might as well. No harm done, right? Your press tour wasn’t very long and you could stand awkward with Chris because awkward with him was still extremely friendly.
The next morning you’d mentally prepared yourself to shoot your shot, even if it ended up crashing and burning. You met Chris in the lobby again to go over to the office where you were interviewing, and while last night was a topic of conversation it wasn’t in-depth. You were nervous and he could tell, and you were sure they’d sent him the same email with the interview questions. Maybe he was scheming like you were. Or maybe it was just another interview where women would swoon at him and he would act like he didn’t expect it.
“Hi, I’m Chris Evans,” Chris said to the camera on your first take together, looking at you as he said his name.
“And I’m Y/n,” you said.
“And today we’re going to tell you a little bit about a movie that we’ve been working on.” The movie questions were easy, and Chris was fantastic at answering them. He always pulled you into it, even if the questions weren’t directed right at you. He was looking at you a little bit longer than he had before last night, and you noticed. Finally they got to the complicated questions.
“What do you do when you like someone? How do you act around them?” They directed for Chris to go first, and he nervously ran a hand through his hair.
“I feel like I’m really bad at hiding it. You know, I always get caught looking at them for a little longer. And if they talk to me I start blushing like a fifteen year-old. I would say I’m a romantic, so if I do anything that’s specific to you, I probably like you.” Chris looked over at you to answer, and you glared at him as you did.
“If I like you, I’m very, like, giggly and I love to listen to people talk, so if I listen to you and keep getting you to talk I definitely like you. And if I’m slightly more bold in conversation, it’s kind of me being like, you know, please notice me,” you answered. “I’m also a lot more affectionate, which I guess they don’t expect, so that’s usually the tell that’s like yeah, I like you.” You saw the realization wash over Chris’s face, but you weren’t sure the cameras did.
“What’s the most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for you? Y/n, you can take this one first.” Here you go, you thought.
“Well, I’d said at some point that I’d never been on, like, a good date before. And so he took me out and he just kept saying that I deserved better and that kind of thing, and he had my favorite drink and food. And I don’t think it was meant to be a date date, but it was really sweet and I truly appreciated just getting to spend time with him.” Your words didn’t come out as anonymous as you wanted them to, but it worked. Chris was next, and you couldn’t help but zone out to watch him as he spoke. His face was slowly turning red, maybe not on camera, but you could tell underneath all of the lights. When the interview was over, you had a few minutes until the next one started, so you got out of there and got another cup of coffee. Just as you were about to stir in some sugar, you felt a hand on your back.
“Can I talk to you?” Chris asked you. He looked nervous, which was something that you almost never saw. You knew he got nervous, but he was extremely good at hiding it. “You were right. Last night wasn’t meant to be a date date, but I really liked spending time with you, and I think you’re amazing, and I know this might be overstepping a boundary but I figured I should ask anyway. Just in case. Would you maybe want to actually go on a real date?” He spoke so quickly you could barely catch what he said. He was definitely nervous. All you could do was look down and smile like an idiot.
“That’s what I was trying to tell you in there.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah!” The both of you started laughing.
“Is tonight too early?” You shook your head.
“Meet in the lobby at 7?” You asked him. He grinned and nodded.
“I’ll meet you in the lobby at 7. And I promise I’ll tell you where we’re going this time.”
A/N: Thank you to the anon with this idea! I thought it was super cute! I hope you like it ❤️

I prompted someone to write about Liam and Petey and Zayn’s reaction. I am filling my own prompt because I clearly can’t say no to myself. SMH.
"Zayn?" Liam called his fiancés name as he entered their New York apartment. He walked further into the home, checking every room he passed. It seemed empty, the bag Zayn had been carrying around with him lately was nowhere to be found. "Petey, I think we're alone, bud."
All Liam got in response was a wagging tail, good enough for him. He had fallen madly in love with the dog, they took to each other instantly. It was supposed to be a short and sweet interview for Buzzfeed in partner with the Animal League. It wasn't Liam's fault that they bombarded him with close to a half dozen puppies. They all needed to be adopted, all of them looking for a loving home. He was supposed to be answering fan questions but kept getting attacked with an overload of cuteness. Puppies were his weakness. Some people's weaknesses were alcohol, drugs, junk food, not Liam. Liam James Payne’s ultimate weakness was a puppy looking for love. Petey took to him instantly, already acting like he belonged in Liam's life.
"Best decision ever," Liam cooed to the dog, scratching the top of the pup's head. "Watson will take to you instantly, hopefully."
Liam dropped off the bags he was carrying on the kitchen table. He had to stop at the local pet store to get everything Petey would need for the next day before he heads back to London where he had a lot more for the dog. Petey needed a new, snazzy name tag and flashy leash, food was a no brainer, of course. This puppy was gonna live in the lap of luxury, why not get him acclimated quickly. He thought maybe Petey would be their New York dog, their American dog. Watson was a handful, literally and figuratively speaking. Taking care of Watson and Loki got to be too much, on top of all their others animals in their house. Maybe keeping Petey in America wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Liam crouched down so he was eye level with the pup, making kissy faces at the dog. He was instantly in love, he couldn’t help me. “Maybe you’ll stay here with Baba while daddy goes back to England. Okay?”
Once again all Petey did in response was wag his tail and give Liam’s cheek a tentative lick. The dog had gotten accustomed to him rather quickly but it was obvious why he was so apprehensive, he was used to being cooped up in a shelter, now he had freedom to roam and do whatever he pleased, within reason of course. Liam walked about the apartment, making himself lunch, answering emails and texts, taking phone calls from people from his label, all while Petey followed closely behind him. It was cute and endearing. It made Liam feel less alone seeing that Zayn was off doing god knows what, he was always off recording or doing other secretive things. It didn’t worry Liam at all, he was just as secretive about this music as well. Besides himself Zayn was his biggest critic and the one person’s opinion he cared about the most.
“Liam!”
Liam smiled instantly at the sound of his name leaving Zayn’s mouth. He was in the bedroom changing into a pair of comfy joggers when the front door opened. Petey was resting comfortably at his feet, his ears perked up at the new voice, eyes immediately locked on Liam. So he wasn’t an attack dog that much was obvious. Liam patted Petey’s head and told him to stay as he made his way towards the front door.
“Had a good time disappearing?” Liam greeted him with a warm smile and open arms.
Zayn shook his head in amusement as he engulfed Liam in his arms, inhaling his scent, which always smelt like home to him, no matter what. “You smell different.”
“I smell different?” Liam asked with a laugh, a bemused look on his face as they stepped out of the hug. “Maybe you’ve been out in the sun too long, love.”
“No,” he responded, inhaling Liam’s scent once more. His eyes rolled back, trying to decipher the smell plus loving the intoxicating feeling of being this close to Liam after such a long time. “You smell like Liam and something else I can’t place.”
Liam shook his head at the randomness of Zayn, taking his hand and moving him further into the apartment, pushing him onto the couch. “Relax love, take off your shoes, and enjoy our time together before I leave tomorrow.”
Zayn narrowed his eyes and he slipped off his shoes and placed them beside the couch, never taking his eyes off Liam. Something was up and definitely off about this situation. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” he assured him gently, his voice a soothing tone. Liam turned his head briefly to look at the bedroom door, hoping Petey was okay and not making a mess of their room.
“Liam, are you cheating on me?” Zayn asked him directly, moving so he was face to face with Liam, could read his expression and see his face clearly.
“What!” He shrieked, half in horror and half in amusement. He just gawked at Zayn for a minute, opening his mouth to speak but words were getting stuck in his throat. “Y-you really think I’m cheating on you? That’s crazy talk!”
“Crazy talk is me coming home and my fiancé is being all secretive and smelling different. I have every right to assume what I’m assuming, Liam,” he explained, trying to not sound hysterical but coming off that way anyway. “We’re both busy, not being able to see each other all the time like we use it, things change, emotions change, I would understand.”
Liam sat back on the couch, feeling like his heart had just been ripped out of his chest and the remnants were laying on the ground by his feet. “Babe, I would never, ever cheat on you, not in a million, trillion years. No matter how difficult or tiresome the distance might be. Please, don’t ever think that. Ever.”
Zayn physically folded in on himself, feeling overwhelmed and ashamed over his outburst, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his other hand being wrapped up between Liam’s hands. “I know. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to jump to any conclusions or accuse you of anything, I love and trust you one hundred percent, love.”
“You want to know the truth?” Liam asked after a beat where the two of them just sat there, looking at each other and feeling their undeniable, palpable connection.
“Liam, it’s not necessary, you don’t have to-“
“I adopted a dog,” he announced, standing up and walking towards the bedroom.
“You what!” Zayn exclaimed, his calm demeanor changing quickly as he stood up too and followed Liam. “Liam, are you out of your mind? We cannot get another dog, we are never home to take care of said dogs. Do you not remember how we had to give Loki to your sister and how your mum is taking care of Watson?”
Liam purposely ignored the questions that were being asked of him as he opened the door. Petey was right where he had left him, sitting at the foot of the bed, his raised his head at the sound of the door and panted with excitement when he spotted Liam. “Look at him Zayn, how could I’ve said no to this face.”
“Easy, no,” he replied as he walked into the bedroom. “Liam, I get that your heart has too much love in it sometimes, and that’s amazing, one of the many reasons why I love you, honestly. But we cannot have another dog. They get attached to us and then we have to either get rid of them or give them to our family. It’s not fair to them and it’s not fair to the animals.”
“But Zaynie, look,” he cooed, getting on the floor to properly pet the dog. Petey immediately crawled into Liam’s lap and licked at his face, overly excited. “He is so sweet and gentle, he’ll be a perfect addition to our family.”
“Leeyum.”
Liam took one of Petey’s paws and waved at Zayn. “Hi Zayn, my name is Petey and I’m the cutest thing in this entire world. Please, please love me?”
“You’re ridiculous,” Zayn directed his comment at Liam with a pleased laugh. “You cannot hide behind this dog all day.”
“His name is Petey,” he corrected him, still waving the dog’s paw at Zayn. “He’s from the North Shore Animal League in Long Island, he needed a home and we have an abundant amount of them. Please?”
Zayn exhaled and took a seat on the bedroom floor next to Liam and Petey. “Liam, we can’t just adopt another dog and then abandon it months down the road, you get that, right?”
“I know,” he acknowledged and smiled brightly as Petey leaped off his lap and into Zayn’s nosing at his rings and sniffing him out, getting himself acclimated. “See he likes you.”
“He was in a shelter, he’ll like anyone who shows him affection,” Zayn corrected, trying to resist the urge to pet Petey’s head. He was pretty damn cute. “Babe.”
“We’ll keep him in New York with you, it’ll give me a reason to come here more often,” he tried to bargain with him, his face still in a wide smile as he watched Zayn and Petey interact.
Zayn looked up at Liam and back down at Petey, running a hand alongside the top of the puppies head, feeling how soft and warm and inviting this dog was. “So you adopted him as a ploy so you’d have a reason to come see me more, huh?”
“Is it working?” Liam asked, raised eyebrows and a warm smile on his face. He was secretly hoping this would all work out in his favor.
A slow nod of the head and a gleam in his eye was all Zayn was willing to give Liam at the moment. He couldn’t believe how easy it was to give into Liam, even after all these years. “You better come visit us often, okay?”
“I’ll fly here every week,” he promised, moving forward and giving Zayn as kiss. “My two favorite boys under one roof, doesn’t get much better than this honestly.”
“You’re such a knob,” Zayn laughed, properly petting Petey now. “It’s just gonna be us bros, Petey. Hope you get used to it.”
“Best day ever,” Liam sighed contently as he watched Zayn bond with Petey.

5 Popular Blog Post Topics That Everyone Loves to Share: If you're a content marketer of any type, you know how crucial it is for your blog posts to make a splash. If you were to look over my shoulder any day of the week, you'd see me checking my social sharing metrics. Just this morning, I logged in to Buzzsumo to take a look at these numbers: (This image shows the social sharing metrics for QuickSprout.com over the past year. These are the four pieces of content that received the most social shares.) Why? Because social sharing matters! This isn't some sort of narcissistic kick. This is a data-driven way to see who's sharing my content, how many shares I'm getting, what platform those shares are on, and why the articles are being shared. Obviously, it doesn't matter how much content you're putting out if nobody's reading it. If nobody's reading it, nobody's sharing it. Ultimately, your content must be shared if you want to increase site traffic. Many marketers spend their days looking at Google Analytics. I do this too. But Google Analytics is only part of the picture. There's a fascinating story behind every social share you receive. If you're one of the millions of soloprenuers, entrepreneurs, content marketers, growth hackers, or startup marketers in the US struggling to put out engaging content, you're not alone. I get it more than anyone. The web moves fast; trends come and go; and sometimes it's hard to keep up. You'll be happy to learn, however, that there are a few tried-and-true content categories that everyone (your audience, my audience) loves to engage with and share. In this post, I'm giving you a few of those content categories and diving into ways to discover more for a lasting result. By the end of this post, you'll understand why the content you're sharing may not be getting the same results as other some content does. You'll also understand how all this affects share rate and what you can do to turn your situation around. Here are your new go-to blog post topics. Read each thoroughly, and think about how they can be leveraged on your blog. 1. Productivity hacking Time is one thing we'll never have more of—for now, at least. If I told you I could make your days longer and you'd be able to finish more work, make more calls, etc., you'd be interested, right? Of course, you would. Time is important. It makes sense then that we're attracted to content focused on gaining more time. In your upcoming blog posts, incorporate interesting productivity tips, whether showing how your product or service increases productivity or sharing which productivity tips and tricks are working for you. If you're familiar with Michael Hyatt's blog, you've probably seen this work. Michael Hyatt is a leadership development expert, but he publishes a lot of productivity-related titles. In fact, when I look back on his blog's social sharing metrics over the past 12 months, two of his top five are on productivity: This isn't an accident. Hyatt knows that productivity topics get shared. People love sharing practical content that they can vouch for and others can use. 2. Travel The travel industry is booming for a reason. We love to travel. Travel is invigorating, relaxing, and educational, and it's one of the reasons why content focused on travel is so widely shared. It's time for you to join the club. Start thinking about what you would want to read. Depending on the season, you can write about physical locations your audience might search for, say, Jamaica. If you're a company that has this information on Jamaica on your blog, take advantage of that. Take control so your blog becomes a frequent destination. What kind of blogs would benefit from travel-related articles? It might not be that hard to find a connection. Take ToDoIst for example. They sell a productivity app. But they blog about travel: Even a camera maker such as GoPro can get away with publishing some interesting and super shareable travel articles: Evernote knows that travel is a shareable topic, and its blog features plenty of travel articles: Give travel a try, fitting it in however you see appropriate, and you'll likely get some social sharing among an interested audience. 3. Fitness Face it, there are mobs of people out there (myself included) who would love to just wake up with six-pack abs. That's why there's always something new to help get you there. As long as science continues to discover new things, there will be new breakthroughs to talk about—perfect fodder for shareable blog posts! Blog posts about fitness have historically been one of the most shared genres of content on the web. Buzzsumo, the social sharing giant, reported this about 2015 content popularity: Who doesn't want to get healthier? Health was a popular topic in 2015. Interestingly, three of the most shared posts on BuzzFeed this year were about health, as seen below. They explain that the viral element of these articles was the topic of the content: health, diet and fitness tips. Buzzfeed knows a thing or two about shareable content, and they were the clear leader in the socially-shared fitness topics. A quick search for “buzzfeed fitness” produces over 800,000 results: There are tons of shares on each one of these. Depending on your industry, blogging about fitness can work well. Begin this process by searching Google for the top fitness blogs, and scour them to find out what the fitness industry is talking about. Write a post from this, relate it to your business, and that's it. Simple. 4. Getting what you want in life The ability to change outcomes quickly and effectively is a skill mankind has been working on for centuries. Want to increase the share count of your blog posts? Empower your readers. Show them how to use confidence to get what they want in their lives, relationships, and careers. Take advantage of this by writing content that talks about specific topics such as: How to get a raise/promotion Negotiation techniques Relationship tips Interview tactics If spun correctly, these topics will not only be practical and interesting to your readers (i.e., perfect for sharing) but also useful to you: they will introduce you as a thought leader, helping you establish trust with your audience. And trust, in turn, can produce social sharing. Some of the major blogs, such as Forbes, Inc., Huffington Post, Fast Co., and Business Insider, are full of articles like this one: Feeling that sense of empowerment drives people to share, share, share… The great thing about topics like these is they can be used on most types of blogs. 5. Money The fifth and arguably most successful blog topic is money and finances. The Internet is chock full of people looking to improve their finances, get out of debt, plan for the future, etc. James Clear, for example, typically writes about health and productivity, but he knows that money topics will hit a social sharing streak. Take this super-popular article he wrote for Business Insider: It's garnered 58K+ shares since it was published! This is a great topic to blog about, and it's excellent for highlighting the potential financial benefits your product or service provides. It's a no-brainer. But what if you run out of ideas? What happens when we've exhausted these topics next month and we're back to square one—out of ideas? At this point, get online and check out forums related to your interests to find out what people are asking and what discussions are viral or trending. Use the main categories above as a guide (fitness, finance, travel, etc.), and dive into these sub categories on each forum on a more micro level. For example, let's say you see on Forum A that “puppies” is trending, and, in particular, many people are talking about “German Shepherd puppies.” Narrow the focus of your next blog post to include this specific information on German Shepherd puppies, and watch your content take off. But it's not always this easy, right? What about when you're having a rough day writing? Here's a bonus tip. In addition to the above, keep what I like to call an “ideas file” handy. Start with a Google spreadsheet. Every time you come across an interesting idea for your blog, write it down. Scour the Internet for news, and read other blogs you respect. These ideas become inspiration for posts down the road. Maintain this file, and I promise you can make your blog more successful. Conclusion There are dozens of factors that influence the shareability of your blog posts. Issues such as the time of posting, time of sharing, style of the title, featured image, author's authority, keyword presence, etc. are all crucial. But there's one thing at the heart of it all: what's the topic? If you miss the right topics, the entire blog will be a waste of time and effort. Not all these topics will work for every blog. I understand that. Knowing your audience and their interests is your path to ultra-shareability. Just a few small tweaks to your blog can dramatically improve the rate of sharing of your content. Spend time researching competitors, writing down your ideas for later use, and keeping your finger on the pulse of the blogs and forums for your topic of interest. One piece of advice I always leave my clients with is this: Would YOU want to read your blog if you were the customer? If the answer is no, consider some of the strategies above and let me know how it goes. Which blog topics work best for you? http://bit.ly/2qkKzEY
