#22 Absinthe Accessorie: The Brouilleur (Photo: Absinthe Brouilleur Terminus ➡️ Link in bio) Absinthe is traditionally prepared with ice-cold water and a sugar cube. To mix the water with Absinthe, one usually uses a water carafe or an Absinthe fountain. However, there is another interesting form of preparation: The use of a Brouilleur. A brouilleur or Absinthe dripper is a metal cup that is placed on the Absinthe glass. It is then filled with cold water (from a carafe). The dripper has small holes through which the water then drips into the Absinthe in the glass. It is a slow drip so that the Absinthe magically clouds in white streaks. This slow "louche" is particularly impressive. If you like, you can also add ice cubes or a sugar cube to the Brouilleur. #22 Absinthe Jade Terminus Oxygénée Absinthe Jade Terminus Oxygénée is a very special Absinthe, as it plays homage to one of the most interesting Absinthes of the Belle Époque era: Absinthe Oxygénée. This brand separated itself from its peers by a specialized hot oxygenation production process. This treatment was advertised as being “Hygiénique”, because drinking a glass of this Absinthe would not extract oxygen from the blood but rather add oxygen to it, which would have a healing effect on the nerve system, circulation and lungs… In a way, this new prodution method was a reaction to several scientists and scholars proclaiming that alcohol, and absinthe above all, was very dangerous to consumers’ health. #19 Absinthe Water Carafe ALANDIA The ALANDIA Absinthe water carafe was inspired by similar pieces used in bars and bistros throughout France in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is very functional in use and beautiful to look at. Water carafes were placed on bistro tables to be used by the customers to prepare their own drink. Particularly important were these carafes in the making of an Absinthe, as ice-cold water is needed for the traditional Absinthe ritual. Besides their functional use of holding water, Absinthe water carafes were also popular promotional and marketing tools used mostly by alcohol manufacturers.
