Who taketh thy Purse?
Tumblr media
It was the year 2009, Niki was all set to be engaged to this person who is irrelevant in this story. The invitations were out, and the family were expecting relatives to stay back at their place. Considering the budget constraints, the relatives decided to stay one night and leave soon after the ceremony. This would mean less cost and not imposing a lot of trouble on the bride’s family.
Niki is a sweet girl; She worked hard and saved up 10 years just for her big day. it was her favourite month. October, her engagement celebration would be clubbed along with her birthday and Diwali all on the same day, she was thrilled and over the moon.
On the day of the ceremony, Niki woke up very early for a change since there was make up to be done. She found her green jute purse lying on her table and she decided to keep it aside safely because the house was full and there was a lot of money and cards in it. Almost everything she owned was green. Her favourite colour, so much that her toothbrush, the paint on her wardrobe, the paint of her room, purse, handbags, and her engagement dress. All green.
The ceremony went well. All the relatives were so caring, and gaga over her appearance. Some never left her room, they were constantly hovering over her looks, what we wore, and questions about the future while she dressed. She wished for some privacy but being kind was her thing.
All were so tired post the function that her father forced the relatives to stay the night and leave the next morning. Everyone tiredly obliged. Next morning, it was the usual chaos at home. Everyone packing, the kitchen is hustling with steam and something hot cooking, the bathrooms are full. It was a 2-bedroom house, with 1 toilet and over 30 people housed all at once! It was chaotic but fun, there was laughter and talks about the ceremony. Niki felt very happy, to see the support of her aunts and uncles. Her cousins served her with fresh family gossip and her mother was in the kitchen cooking her favourite breakfast. Niki was delighted to see a house full of happy people, since she grew up with only 2 people in her house. Her father, mother, and her. Silently she wished for the party to never end.
Niki was in her room looking for her purse since she had to pay off the decorators. At first her movement were calm, she moved every bag around, opened every drawer. The momentum increased with a little stress in her tone of speech. Moments later, she could not think straight and finally panicked and screamed.
The happy relatives took offense when she asked if anyone saw her purse. They suddenly decided to end the giggle party and start packing and leave. Within an hour, the house that was roaring with laughter and noise, became silent with only Niki and her mother crying in one corner of her room.  They searched and searched but in vain. After about a week, Niki confirmed that one of the relatives had done it, but she could not figure out whom.
The relatives were so offended with Niki questioning them, they never spoke to her again. They decided to stay in a hotel the next time they visited which was for the wedding. Some ignored her totally and did not even wish her on her big day. This was the same set of people who were in her room who could not get enough of her just few months ago.
Niki had to buy a new purse, apply for new cards, she had some memories stacked up in the purse which would miss forever. She cried thinking she would never see her cute little blue pebble which picked up from a beach when she first went to Goa. That pebble was part of her life and purse for years for no apparent reason. It was just cute and blue. She missed it, although while it was in her purse, she hardly noticed it in there. She sat and wondered what else was in the purse and what else did she lose apart from the money, cards, blue pebble, and some passport size photographs.
3 years passed. With time, Niki forgot all about the purse, with time the relatives were back to normal and with time, Niki learned to be more careful with things. Her parents found a new place to live and wanted to move. Niki was there to help them pack. She was in her room, packing all her beloved stuff which she could not take to her in-law’s house. She opened her green wardrobe, which now holds some plastic covers and junk which fall under the “we may use this” category.
She opened her drawer to see if she left out any jewellery in there. It was empty. While she put her hand deep inside the drawer to check the corners, she felt a small opening. She quickly took back her hand, like she had touched something dangerous. She was afraid to explore it again with her bare hands. She brought a torch and her mom to look. It was a small safe inside a safe and she saw something from a distance, and it suddenly struck her where she hid her purse before the ceremony to keep it safe from theft.
Embarrassment gushed down her face, and her mother gave her a look of disgust, because one among the relative Niki blamed was her mother’s cousin too! Niki was very happy to have her green purse back and everything in it. She remained silent and did not inform anyone that the lost was found.
The next big function was around in the family and the relatives were around. Uncle asked “Niki, any idea who took your purse?”
Niki and her mom exchanged glances and she shrugged her shoulders and said “No”.

I know I've talked about him a lot on Discord but here's an intro to my boy Luca with an image of him!
Tumblr media
[Id: an ink drawing of a young boy with short and curly black hair. He is eyeing something at his left suspiciously, one eyebrow raised. He looks displeased. He is wearing an unbuttoned dress shirt that is too big for him, and underneath he has an unspecified top. Next to him, words "Luca 15yo". End id.]
So, my darling boy Luca. He's the youngest of 3 siblings: Tiago, Susana, and Luca. His family is an old line of shipmakers from the eastern shores of Verduena but neither Luca nor his older siblings have a particular skill for building ships. Tiago, Luca's older brother, is fifteen years older than Luca while Susana, the sister, is 10 years older. Before having Luca, his parents had tried for a child a few times but lost the baby not too far into the pregnancy. Luca was a happy surprise to the whole family, although Susana was very confused about the baby.
Luca had a happy childhood. He was often doted on and there were no expectations on him the same way that his siblings had. Sometimes Luca found himself hearing fights between Tiago and their father about how Tiago was supposed to continue the tradition of shipbuilding in the family. Usually, after those fights, Luca asked Tiago to tell him stories - that's how Luca learnt all the stories of different gods and spirits that helped the world go round.
Every winter, Luca's family boards sea nomads. The ship Goa returns like clockwork and her eldest, Mielzik, stays in the house with some of the nomads while the others stay with other villagers of Reurachna. Having lived decades, Mielzik knows a lot about the world and she would often tell stories of different countries, of their religions, of their cultures, of their languages. That was how Luca and his siblings found their passions; Tiago with religions, Susana with politics, and Luca with languages.
On the spring of Luca's tenth birthday, Tiago ran away as Goa left the shores of Reurachna. Come winter, Mielzik returned with the news of Tiago's passing on the sea. The news broke something in Luca - he had always looked up to the rebellious and kind-hearted older brother that Tiago was. This was the only time that Luca took part in building a ship of any kind. With his father, Luca built a traditional funeral boat that was filled with mementos of Tiago and sent to the sea. Unlike the funerals of north, coastal Verduena tends to let the boats to simply drift past the horizon along with the memory of the deceased.
Five years later, Luca ran away too. His sister had become a politician in the capital of Verduena and he'd made an excuse of visiting her while in reality, he joined a caravan of travelling merchants headed for Olyad, the city where the gods of creation were worshipped. There, he planned to buy a map of the world so he could begin his journey of studying languages and learning how the world around him was shaped. The world, however, turned out to be quite the fickle place, and Luca found himself in an adventure before he even got the map.
Later, Luca made his way north to study the Northern Creole and other languages from the Reyd area. There he, much to his shock, finds out that Tiago was not dead - he had been saved by another nomadic ship and taken to the archipelago of Fallen Stars. While on another adventure, the brothers reconnect, but a small seed of fear remains in Luca's chest. This causes Luca to act rashly and nearly lose his life in the process. It is only then that Tiago understands what his disappearance did to Luca. Luckily, a soul bird is sent from the heavens to make sure that Luca remains alive. Thus begins Luca's journey of healing, once the brothers return home.
Luca is a curious soul, but sometimes he finds himself terribly sad out of nowhere. It takes him some time to learn to trust new people, especially those who are as bright-eyed as Luca's brother once was. Having travelled the world often on foot, Luca is a good hiker, but not very agile. He has a decent grasp on geography and orienting himself in a pinch, but he prefers travelling by the road.
Once, during a rather surprising meeting with a dwarven family, Luca admits that he is self-conscious over the lack of beard he's experiencing (he is 25 at the time) and the dwarven father gifts him some small gemstones that should hasten the growth of Luca's beard. A month or so in, it turns out that the stones really do work :---D

Location: Different areas of Goa offer varying vibes. Research locations that suit your lifestyle, whether you prefer the hustle of North Goa or the tranquility of the South.
Property Type: Decide if you want a villa, bungalow, or apartment. Each has its pros and cons in terms of maintenance, space, and investment potential.
Amenities: Look for properties with modern amenities, such as pools, gardens, and security. These can enhance your living experience and attract renters.
8. Navigating the Buying Process
Purchasing property in Goa can be straightforward with the right guidance. Here are some steps to follow:
Engage a Local Real Estate Agent: A knowledgeable agent can help you navigate the market, find suitable properties, and understand legal requirements.
Understand Local Laws: Familiarize yourself with property laws in Goa, especially if you’re an NRI or a foreign buyer. This includes understanding ownership rights and any necessary paperwork.
Visit Properties: Whenever possible, visit potential properties in person. Photos can be misleading, and seeing the property firsthand will give you a better sense of its condition and location.
Conclusion

7 Compelling Reasons to Invest in Real Estate in Mumbai
Mumbai, often known as the City of Dreams,’ has long captivated people from across India and beyond. This bustling metropolis draws in those eager to chase their ambitions and build a life in a city famous for its opportunities. It’s common for newcomers, while gazing at the shimmering waters of Marine Drive, to dream about owning a home here. But with its dense population and consistently high demand for property, one might wonder: Is real estate investment in Mumbai worth it? If you’re contemplating this, here are seven key reasons why investing in Mumbai's real estate market could be a great move.
Tumblr media
Thriving Real Estate Market Mumbai’s real estate market is ever-evolving, with new and innovative projects continuously being developed by reputable builders. These developments come with attractive amenities like swimming pools, tennis courts, spas, libraries, and more—all within one complex. As India’s financial hub, Mumbai ensures stable property prices, which typically translate into high appreciation and solid returns on investment.
Outstanding Connectivity and Accessibility Mumbai is synonymous with connectivity, whether it’s the expanding metro networks or new roads connecting every corner of the city. The upcoming metro lines in Thane and the suburbs are transforming accessibility, while expressways are cutting down travel times. Mumbai’s robust transport system also makes it easier to plan road trips to destinations like Goa, Bengaluru, and Pune. The presence of one of the country’s busiest international airports further enhances the city’s appeal, making travel hassle-free.
Ample Business and Employment Opportunities As the financial capital of India, Mumbai is a magnet for both businesses and professionals, creating a wealth of job opportunities across various sectors. From finance and entertainment to IT and healthcare, the city is a major economic powerhouse. Investing in property here means securing a future in a city where economic growth and prosperity flourish, offering both immediate benefits and long-term value for future generations.
A Blend of Diverse Cultures Mumbai is a melting pot of cultures, drawing people from all over the world due to its vast employment opportunities. This cosmopolitan vibe fosters a sense of inclusivity and harmony among its residents, regardless of caste, creed, or background. Investing in a home here provides not just a place to live but an opportunity to experience the city's rich cultural tapestry and diverse community.
Affordable Housing Options Redevelopment projects in Mumbai have opened doors to more affordable housing, providing a range of options for potential buyers. With several government schemes in place, quality homes are now within reach for middle- and lower-income groups. This makes investing in Mumbai's real estate a prudent choice, especially for those looking for a valuable, long-term asset.
Quality Infrastructure Mumbai’s infrastructure continues to expand and improve, thanks to the efforts of established developers. From towering skyscrapers to fully furnished apartments, the city offers a wide range of housing options to cater to different needs and preferences. This growing infrastructure further enhances the quality of life for residents.
Easy Financing Options Financing a home in Mumbai might seem daunting, but developers and financial institutions are making it easier for buyers. Builders are offering flexible EMI plans, while banks are providing competitive interest rates on home loans. These factors come together to ease the home-buying process, making property ownership in Mumbai more accessible than ever before.
Conclusion Owning a home is a significant achievement, but owning a home in Mumbai is something truly special. If you’re considering investing in real estate, there’s no better place than the ‘City of Dreams.’ So, are you ready to make Mumbai your home?

How the Real Estate Sector in India is Shaping the Country’s Economy
The real estate sector in India has grown a lot in the past few years and is now one of the most important parts of the economy. This sector includes different types of properties like homes, offices, shopping malls, and hotels. The increasing population, people moving to cities, and rising incomes have all helped this sector grow. In this article, we will explain how the real estate market works, what drives its growth, and what challenges it faces.
 Indian Real Estate Market
India’s real estate sector is huge, providing jobs for many people and contributing to the country’s GDP. It is divided into four main parts: housing, retail (shops and malls), hospitality (hotels and resorts), and commercial real estate (offices). Among these, housing is the biggest part. With many people moving to cities and earning more money, the demand for homes has risen sharply. This has led to the construction of affordable homes, luxury apartments, and everything in between.
 Residential Real Estate Growth
The housing market in India has grown because more people need places to live in cities. Government programs like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are helping build affordable homes for everyone. These programs make it easier for people to buy homes at lower prices. Additionally, many homebuyers now want homes that offer good quality of life, with amenities like parks, gyms, and shops within the complex.
There is also a growing interest in eco-friendly housing. People, especially younger buyers, prefer homes that are built with sustainable materials and designed to save energy.
Commercial Real Estate: Offices and Workspaces
The commercial real estate sector deals with offices and workplaces. The demand for office spaces is growing, especially in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. This is because of the growth in industries like IT (Information Technology) and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), which require large office buildings.
Many companies are also moving to co-working spaces where different businesses share the same office. These spaces are becoming popular with start-ups and small businesses, helping them save money.
Retail and Hospitality: Shopping and Travel
The retail sector in India has changed a lot with the development of shopping malls and retail outlets. Malls now offer more than just shopping—they have cinemas, restaurants, and entertainment areas, making them popular destinations for families.
The hospitality sector—which includes hotels and resorts—is growing, too. Domestic and international travel is picking up, leading to more demand for hotels, especially in popular tourist spots like Goa and Kerala.
 Challenges in Real Estate
While the real estate sector is growing, it faces some problems. One big challenge is regulation. In 2016, the government introduced the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to make the market more transparent and protect homebuyers. However, issues like delays in getting approval for projects, problems with land acquisition, and rising construction costs continue to slow down progress.
Another challenge is funding. Developers often struggle to get enough money to complete projects, especially after recent financial issues with Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs). This has caused delays in the completion of many housing projects.
Future of Real Estate sector in India
The future looks bright for India’s real estate market. One exciting development is PropTech, which uses technology to make buying, selling, and managing property easier. Another trend is the creation of smart cities, which focus on sustainable living and improved infrastructure.
Fractional ownership is also becoming more popular. This allows multiple people to invest in a property together, making it more affordable for everyone. The shift to working from home due to the pandemic has also increased the demand for homes with office-friendly spaces.
 Government Support for Real Estate
The Indian government has introduced several programs to boost real estate growth. Initiatives like Housing for All, RERA, and the Affordable Housing Scheme have helped make housing more accessible. Additionally, foreign direct investment (FDI) rules have been relaxed, allowing more international companies to invest in Indian real estate.
 Conclusion
In short, the real estate sector in India is set for continued growth. More people are buying homes, and businesses are expanding their office spaces. With government support and new trends like smart cities and PropTech, the future looks bright for both homebuyers and investors in the Indian real estate market.

GOA Strongly Condemns White House Gun Control Executive Orders
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 26, 2024
Washington, D.C. – Spokesmen with Gun Owners of America (GOA) issued the following statements in reaction to the White House issuing a new executive order on gun control this afternoon.
Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, issued the following statement:
“The White House just made a huge mistake by reminding gun owners of Kamala’s radical, gun-grabbing agenda, with the election a mere month or so away. Kamala Harris just claimed responsibility for each infringement—every banned gun and part—by ATF in the last four years, so we are pushing back and calling her out.”
Aidan Johnston, GOA’s Director of Federal Affairs, added:
“Shockingly, Kamala Harris is weaponizing the ‘enhanced background check’ for young adults into a tool for gun confiscation. If an existing gun owner goes to purchase a new firearm legally, the government may ‘red flag’ them instead and seize their currently owned firearms in the process. The chilling effect this could have on new gun purchases is unimaginable.”
Today’s executive order is loaded with anti-gun provisions, including:
Using “red flag” laws to disarm potential gun purchasers when running an “enhanced background check”
$135 million in bribes to states to pass and implement “red-flag” gun confiscation laws and expand “enhanced background [registration] checks”
Demanding that states create carveouts to state privacy laws to disclose records about minors to the Feds, all for the purpose of extending the unconstitutional wait periods on adults under-21 trying to buy a gun
Creating a task force to further demonize 3-D printing, homemade firearms, and machine gun conversion devices
A demand that Congress ban so-called “assault weapons” and bump stocks; pass mandatory “safe-storage” and federal “red-flag” gun confiscation laws; and expand background checks to bolster the ATF’s gun owner registry
GOA spokesmen are available for interviews.  Gun Owners of America is a nonprofit grassroots lobbying organization dedicated to protecting the right to keep and bear arms without compromise. GOA represents over two million members and activists. For more information, visit GOA’s Press Center.

Goan History and Culture that Even Locals Might Not Know
Goa, often celebrated for its sun-kissed beaches and vibrant nightlife, holds a tapestry of history and culture that remains largely unexplored, even by its residents. This journey delves into the lesser-known essence of Goan roots, offering a glimpse into what makes this place unique and enchanting. For those looking to buy a villa in Goa, understanding this rich history adds depth to the experience of living here.
Pre-Portuguese Era: A Flourishing Hub
Long before the Portuguese set foot on its shores, Goa was a thriving center of trade and culture. The Kadamba dynasty, which ruled from the 4th to the 14th century, left a profound mark on Goa’s cultural and architectural landscape. Their reign saw the construction of majestic temples and the establishment of Goa as a significant center of learning and religion. The Kadambas’ contributions laid a strong foundation for the region’s rich cultural heritage, setting the stage for centuries of vibrant history to unfold. For those considering luxury villas in Goa, the historical depth of the area enhances the allure of Goa.
Portuguese Influence: A Harmonious Blend
Goa’s history is a harmonious blend of indigenous Indian traditions and centuries of Portuguese influence. For over 450 years, the Portuguese ruled Goa, leaving an enduring imprint on its architecture, religious practices, and cultural life. This fusion is beautifully evident in the state’s colonial-era buildings, churches, and forts. Iconic structures like the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia, stand as majestic testaments to this rich historical confluence. The cobblestone streets, adorned with colorful Portuguese-style houses, whisper tales of a bygone era, where two worlds seamlessly merged to create a unique cultural mosaic. Imagine owning one of the luxury villas in Goa near these historical sites, allowing you to live amidst such rich heritage.
Liberation and Modern Era: A New Dawn
Goa remained under Portuguese control until 1961, when Indian forces liberated it, marking the end of one of the longest periods of European colonial rule in Asia. This liberation ushered in a new era, as Goa was integrated into the Indian Union and eventually became a state in 1987. The post-liberation period saw Goa embracing modernity while preserving its unique cultural identity, creating a dynamic blend of the old and the new. For those looking to buy a villa in Goa, this blend of history and modernity makes it an ideal location.
Historical Landmarks: Echoes of the Past
The historical landmarks of Goa stand as silent sentinels, bearing witness to its diverse past. Fort Aguada, built in the early 17th century, symbolizes Portuguese defense against Dutch and Maratha invaders, its sturdy walls overlooking the vast expanse of the Arabian Sea. Chapora Fort, offering panoramic views of the azure waters, reflects the strategic military importance of Goa through the ages. These forts, along with numerous other historical sites, provide a tangible connection to the region’s storied past, inviting visitors to step back in time. Owning luxury villas in Goa close to these landmarks allows you to enjoy both modern comforts and historical charm.
Traditional Goan Festivals: Celebrations of Life
Festivals in Goa are a vibrant mix of Hindu, Christian, and secular celebrations, each adding a splash of color to the cultural canvas. Carnival, celebrated in February or March, showcases Goa’s exuberant spirit with parades, music, and dance, transforming the streets into a lively spectacle. Ganesh Chaturthi, a major Hindu festival, sees families bringing home beautifully crafted idols of Lord Ganesha, followed by days of worship and celebration. Christmas and Easter are grand affairs, reflecting the Christian influence, with midnight masses, feasts, and joyous caroling. These festivals, steeped in tradition, are a testament to Goa’s cultural diversity and the harmonious coexistence of different communities. Imagine celebrating these festivals in your own villa in Goa, truly immersing yourself in local traditions.
Art and Music: The Soul of Goa
Art and music are the soul of Goan culture, resonating through the daily lives of its people. Traditional folk music, known as Goan Konkani music, along with Portuguese Fado, showcases the melodic heritage of the state, weaving tales of love, longing, and celebration. The Goa Arts and Literature Festival and the Monte Music Festival are prominent events celebrating the region’s artistic and literary prowess, drawing artists and connoisseurs from around the world. Traditional dance forms like Dekhni, Fugdi, and Dhalo add to the cultural vibrancy, often performed during festivals and special occasions, bringing communities together in joyous celebration.
Embracing the Essence of Goa
Goa is not just a destination; it is an experience, a journey through time, a celebration of life. Its rich tapestry of history and culture, from the ancient Kadamba dynasty to the vibrant modern era, offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. As you walk through its cobblestone streets, explore its majestic forts, and immerse yourself in its colorful festivals, you are not just a visitor but a part of its living, breathing heritage. Embrace the essence of Goa, and let its enchanting charm leave an indelible mark on your heart. If you are looking to buy a villa in Goa or explore luxury villas in Goa, the combination of cultural richness and modern amenities makes Goa homes a compelling choice.
