Species: Dragon-Kind

hellooo!! as you can see i’m doing yet another long ass post so buckle up:)) (like really long i have much more to say abt these guys)

Because this is obviously a fantasy comic i’m making it AS fantasy as i possibly can, so magic and dragons - all that jazz. Now the only problem with that is trying to figure out how to draw them. Its fine though, the challenge is nice. 

Anyways, i didn’t know what to call these guys, but i knew i didn’t want it to be just a plain thing like ‘d r a g o n s ! mystical unknown creatures’ as that seems a little on the nose. But these guys are powerful. Like really powerful. Scarily powerful... when they want to be. And if they can be. You see some aren’t actually suited for the fascinating abilities they were gifted with from birth. As in the full potential of their power. But when these guys lose their temper, oh they lose it to china and back. And because of them having so much within they cant control, they tend to keep most things internalised to prevent any outbursts - which anyone who has actually had to do this for a while knows it just makes everything so much worse. 

Now because of this demeanour of calmness, it’s how everyone really perceives them in modern light (”modern”) despite them having many a legend surrounding them where they are depicted as this ferocious beast that causes all damage. 

You may be thinking: ‘Oh Quinn, if this is the case and they have this deep, historical power within them why didn’t they win the war???’ 

Because they didn’t want to fight in the first place!! Probably, they may be more of the pacifist group in here. But it’s most likely gonna be a case of that. Y’know how theres usually always one person between two who are butting heads thats the common sense filter and wants them to stop fighting in a friend group trope? Yeah, dragon-kind are those people. 

Right, i’m going to try an keep this as condensed as i can so i’m sorry if i do waffle on a bit XD 

So, because i do love avatar so much, much inspiration has been drawn from that in order to help me understand my own world. That makes no sense but i’m going with it so yeah. But:

✨E L E M E N T S ✨

Different families have different elements that contribute to their dragon characteristics - e.g if they’re a water dragon they’re obviously going to have gills and other attributes that assist them in water fights and/or hunting. But also that relates to the magic side of this all. Depending on the type of dragon someone actually is, they could have different magical abilities that assist them with the life they’ve been so gracefully bestowed upon. And as i say, they’re powerful. So even if someone say is, let’s stick with the water dragon, say they’re just a “fisherman” type, so not much that could help with fighting, they could still have extravagant skill in this area. 

THEYRE ALL OVERACHIEVERS 

Yet even if someone is just a fisherman type (hehe its like pokemon) they, as a whole species, tend to live quite comfortably. Purely because they have this extra assistance in all these different areas. Food never really dwindles, housing is quite easy with the strength of the earth dragons, heat? no problem, fire and electric dragons have you covered. Stuck somewhere dark but nothing to get a torch, get your light dragon buddy! So life seems to be easy. Though i will note that there is equal distribution of power, not one “element” is stronger than the other. It just really takes the situation and environment to decide that for you; but also there are other factors that do amplify the strength of one person. Like with intelligence you can get far and use your abilities in a sly nature to outwit your opponent, essentially becoming better overall.

There are probably gonna be many other dragon-kind types (earth, water etc) but i haven’t figured the ins and outs, proper fiddly details with the main ones so far so as soon as i have i will update you all.

As i said with the elves, these guys are also kinda isolated. Everyone really is until the volta/climax in the story happens where everything gets more industrialised (eventually) , but these guys are ISOLATED. Like to the point where many new hatchlings for a good chunk of their life haven’t been able to see other people from out of their point of land because**no one**is around. Even the elves have more of a connection to other civilisations, they need to keep their bigheadedness apparent to all somehow. 

Though, despite having an explosive temper, these guys are the sweetest people. Genuinely. (refer to para 3) Though they are perceived as calm and whatnot, they go beyond that. They tend to be quite awkward, kind and really loveable... if you run into the right family element.  Some can be quite the opposite but people be people. 

✨REPRODUCTION✨

Now. Say per chance, a fire and water dragon-kind got together and did the horizontal tango. There is a 98.99% chance the child that they (potentially) have is only going to be one or the other. So either a fire or water type dragon-kind. None of that toothless and his missues children sorta business here. Nono. Apart from the 1.01% chance. Though because of such a low chance its really rare to see a mixed element child and most never really do see one in their lifetime (pssssst....one of the characters is gonna be this *wink wink*). If this does happen they are either heavily protected or heavily trained for combat to fight off any predators that would harm or show a threat to their family and whatnot. Or potential war. To decide which, elements like water, fire and earth (probably only three, possibly light as well) can be used for healing if they get lucky. So if theres a mix of either of those, FUCK yeah. *ahem* but if its a mix between the more aggressive elements (which fire can be used as also), thats when they’re trained for combat. 

Hybrids aren’t the same though, so no i will already say that the main protagonist of this story is not overpowered in any particular way. Nahh that cliche shit hurts so much when you read it so much. So Keres is not the *wink wink* character. BUT! They are a hybrid of Elven and Dragon-kind so theres that. 

nOW. Jesus this is a long post, so sorry, i get it if you don’t read all that but if you are interested and did read all my rambling thank you so much!! :)) But yeah thats dragon-kind, may change the name but it is kinda growing on me hehe. Thank you for reading!!

DnD Antics: ISSAC DIDN’T DIE!

thats right folks! the running gag/painfully true fact that our ranger’s raven dies every time hes in combat/in a dungeon has been broken!

so we start where we left off- in the maze on level 2. after envoy and zack regroup with the party (who moved to level 3) we find ourselves in a long narrow all that is vaguely scooby doo. 

me: okay since everyones together envoy’s going to do the melody of athetisim song. DM: if they don’t hear you they don’t get the buff. half the table: *shuts up mid sentence* lindsy: what? tim: sorry huh? DM: they don’t get the buff.

party now gets +20 anything that would be considered a athletic roll.

spine: *ballarena spins sillyQ to get infront of her* sillyQ: umm- elizander: *also* paige: GUYS WHAT THE HECK ryan: you’re small enough were just picking you up and moving you XD zack: *as well*

zack decides to test if his key blade still works on the door thats at the end of the hall. it does, but everyone between him has to take damage from it.

me: tim remember the LAST time you hit something with that blade? tim: *war flash backs. remembers it splits the person into 2* good point. DM: but you’ve already declared it. paige: im glad yall ballarina spun me out of the way have fun. sam: wait if zack is 5′8, and alicaria is 2 foot and hes holding it strait out does it go over her head? DM: yes. paige: can i shout for them to duck? lindsy: you know two of us are going to ask “where?” paige: not my problem!

sillyQ warns the group to duck and they all avoid getting hit. the door unlocks and it leads into a chess board room. white freezes, charms, and mind controls while black is strait up pain and suffering so envoy keeps a song of freedom going so we can just avoid the black tiles all together.

the room beyond that has a golem within it. spine and elizander team up and go ham on the puzzle. 

coolie: i hit the locked door with my sword. DM: it shatters. elizander: .......................... spine: isn’t your sword indestructible? elizander: *finds out the door is enchanted with blade shatter* ................. coolie: how are we gonna unlock it now??? DM: i never said it was locked. ryan and coolie:................... Elizander: *opens the door no problem*

we get the golem activated and everyone but spine and alicaria end up in a swinking cage and the cage doesn’t open after the golem unlocks the doors and stuff so envoy bull rushed the bars CAUSE I HAVE MOOSE ANTLERS...NOW ANTLER BUT I STILL WON AGAIN THE BARS! owey >_<

we find out we could have cheesed this WHOLE maze if we LOOKED UP WHILE ON THE FIRST FLOOR AND IN THE WELL ROOM.

sillyQ gets a nat 20 and sees ALL D: it was amazing! :D

we get out of the maze and into a arena with an hour left. we fight the two champions and one kills themselves head butting the wall and also taking a LOT of damage from attacks of opportunity and the witcher (who did 2000 damage with only HALF his attacks).

and the battle is won! also alicaria turned the whole stone arena into a HUGE druid circle.

i think it was because god's menu was released around the same bp and svt made their comebacks. same thoughts tho on gm > bd and i was also glad that bd got the wins gm didn't. and same with the streaming mvs while studying : ] ahh, the easily distracted people we are. i've heard chinese ballads (usually osts of films and from a chinese friend) and their songs really tend to tug on my heartstrings. i hope sm gives shotaro more stuff to do soon :[ with some of the units being active and sungchan being an mc on a weekly show, it makes me wonder what he's doing. do you think nct will form a new subunit?

no, i'm not lactose intolerant so it really took me by surprise. it was a one-time thing. hopefully it doesn't happen again. i can't really say i'm a big fan of ice cream but it's good occasionally yk as a treat to yourself. and ahhh, i miss drinking smoothies. my favorite stall has been closed for nearly two years now, idk if they ever re-opened since our city mall burned down :[

i think it's an nct thing? it's why i never get tired of them bc they're always active in a way. you should've seen how things went down last year! march 127 album, april dream mini-album, may 127 repackage, june wayv album and the whole nct 2020 thing. it was a wild year. about the track, i listened to it once and forgot about it. might give it a few more listens but it might not grow on me at all. yes! wasn't a big fan of hot sauce at first too bc i thought the intro was weird (not jaemin's part, like the first thing that plays). and yes, that hook loops in my head 24/7. i even made it my instagram bio.

stray kids world domination indeed! and i agree that their performances were really impressive (specially the deadpool one, best one yet) but sometimes i would fancy ateez' more. i didn't watch kingdom too bc it stressed me out as a multi. always caught between being happy for one group and being sad for the others. and atz and tbz! you're still getting into nct and you're thinking of adding 19 more boys! judging from what i know your taste in music is, i think you'll like tbz's music better since there are a lot more soft songs there than in atz. but do give both discographies a listen in the future!

oh izone! i've only heard of them at music shows and dance choreo compilations bc of them being in sync. they're really satisfying to watch! i thought their title tracks were catchy as well! quite unfortunate that i never got into them really. but again, i dont think i can handle stanning temporary groups.

i'm starting to see a pattern in your biases :D i wouldn't be too surprised if you'll be drawn to jeno at some point in your dream venture. dream is soooo easy to love so if you really end up ulting them, i would understand why. and also, YES PLEASE WRITE FOR DREAM AND TAG ME IF YOU WILL. seungmin frequently left updates abt what he was doing, left good nights and good mornings, the occasional i miss you. he called fans 'baby' once. not sure if it was a mistranslation, or really just a one-time endearment. other than that, nothing beyond the usual. seung vlives always make me cry ;n; he always look so adorable and precious. also the gif, the fic was more on fake head-butting really but yes you could say it was also a fake nose boop bc it sounds cuter. i'll make sure to tag you on future seung content on the dash. (time to officially claim him as your ult, yes. dont make him secret anymore :3)

same, actually! im not an atiny and dont stan any other group in the show besides skz but i watched each groups performance and ranked them haha. at times ateez would rank over skz, it was wild. also yeah, my other multi friend was freaking out about kingdom and ended up abandoning the show because she was so scared of the fanwars and having to deal with her 'conflicting feelings'. about the stanning thing, in my defense, i have a list of groups i want to stan and ive recently added tbz and atz. the list is long, i have a long way to go! also yeah, i dont prefer ateez's songs and i have a bunch of tbz title tracks in my playlist but if i approach their discography like i did with nct then i think i would like at least five songs.

izone are my queens. theres a reason why theyre the only girl group who made it to my ult list haha! super talented and filled with variety and visuals, a perfectly concocted group (literally, sobs in pd48 scandal). ah, temporary groups. yeah i cried about their disbandment for like 3 days straight, it was bad.
