Super hearing was quite useful. From floors away he could tell that someone was in his suite in Vought Tower. Someone who shouldn't be there was inside. The only thing that kept him from barging in, eyes red and ready to fire, was what he saw through the walls with his x-ray vision.

"William," he said, a crooked grin revealing pointed canines, "I wasn't expecting any company today."

Heavy soled boots hit the ground as he sauntered in. There he was, one of the most interesting men he'd met. He had to admit, there was a part of him that liked Butcher. Few non-supes had the courage, tenacity, and durability that William Butcher did. He made things interesting.

Homelander looked around. Things were disheveled. William was looking for something, something he likely wouldn't find. The suite was as sterile as Homelander used to think he was. No ID, no cash, no civilian clothes. Just books, high value decor, Americana, and bed linens for a mattress he rarely used. He barely slept anyways.

His approach was casual, but still a threat. Even a calm viper could strike out with venom. A loaded gun was a threat even when the trigger wasn't pulled.

"If you wanted to visit me you could have just asked. I can always make time for you."

It’s enough to a calm that she can grab a nearby chair and scoot it closer, sitting in front of him now as she takes a roll of the bandages, other hand held out towards him.

He giggled. This was a game to him. Amusement, not much more. What could Butcher possibly do to him that Vought hadn't already done? What pain, what torment, what threat could Butcher wield that he wasn't already conditioned to withstand?

A gloved hand reached for Butcher's shoulder. Out of context, it might seem friendly. Out of context, it might seem gentle. But the tight grip Homelander applies tells another story, one only he and Butcher can understand.

"You and I both know that it's going to be you. Eventually. When I feel like it. But for now, you're much more interesting when you're alive. Now how about you show me that blue ribbon winning smile of yours, hm? We've got a lot more fun ahead of us."

hi darling dearest 🖤 in butcherwive, what do the characters look like? how would you describe them?

hi lovey <3 for butcherwive — of the four characters with speaking-adjacent roles only three can be described at all.

ino, the narrator, is a very self-effacing big man in his thirties... nothing much to report. keeps his hair short and his shirt cleanish. wears old brown glasses sometimes. brown 4b hair. not a lot of contrast on him.

yonatan, his (newly former) coworker, is a freckly bronzy-milky-opaque lady in maybe her early forties? not sure. she has very thick curly hair that she leaves pretty much alone, except to give it a reddish henna treatment and tie it back in the lab. grey eyes but they’re dark enough that they look pretty normal.

amadei, yonatan’s husband’s wife, is the most lovingly described character i think <3 very tall and skinny in the way that her skin kind of hangs off her bones. long black hair down her back with lots of grey, especially at the front where it’s also a little wavier. she has eight piercings along her trachea, four to a side, and three on each collarbone — they’re actually screwed into the bone so idk if they count as piercings!

the butcher may or may not be there as well.
