having a few "good" opinions/interactions with the topic of transness doesn't bar someone from being a transphobe and especially not specifically a transmisogynist. we have learned nothing from butchcom and lane saying that a tme nb person (didn't stop t-rves from insinuating they were a "violent male" if i recall correctly) slapping a t-rf for deliberately misgendering them at a bar was an incident of "gaybashing."

I mean like, as far as I can tell the whole thing started with blogs like butchcom/munist and localhor/rorlesbian in like 2016, and they've pretty universally turned out to have been cryptoterfs.

But also like. For the parts of TERF ideology that have to do with butches and trans men - the lesbian genocide narrative - to work, all butches have to be lesbians. The existance of butches and trans men who like men means that the choice to transition isn't based in a coerced desire to be straight. Idt a lot of people who spread the idea have thought about it in those terms, but it's...real interesting how nicely it feeds into TERF ideology.

if you're curious about who is so concerned about bi women using the word butch:

It's all transphobes. Every single person in my notes with this opinion has been a terf. Whether they come with false politeness or angry, every last one of them has been a transphobe.
