so far i've got generally positive vibes...but i got some complaints

very generic spoilers for early game stuff below, as well as my opinion which might influence yours before going in. read at your own discretion.

the early game environments really suck some of the life out of it. feels weird they choose to start you off in bland, empty and soulless fields with repetitiveness - its the exact same trees and rocks for quite a fair bit of wandering. it changes up a bit once you push on at least, and i know there's other zones with like snow and stuff but still. there's so little variation that it ails me LOL

i raged a lot about the main town from videos before and i will continue to do so. it's pretty bad, like a dev copy and pasted all these assets as placeholders for later when they put in unique and rich buildings...but they jsut didn't and kinda polished what they had. there's so little love and life in town that it's kinda sad, especially when you come from playing another switch title, monster hunter rise. i dont want to hear excuses about switch hardware being poor. mhr has such a lovely handcrafted main town full of soul. this town feels insulting. and i wish pokemon legends figured out anti aliasing fr.

now for some positives. when music does play it's pretty nice. town music is meh, but the field is nice, and there's some good stuff at night.

villagers have requests you can fulfill and while some are pretty basic, some are really wholesome and cute, like catching this guy a wurmple, helping him name it, then seeing it sit with him every time you walk by in town. his goal is to evolve it so im sure the wurmple will grow with him in time too. very cute.

there's a lot of potential for character customization. as soon as you can change into your uniform you can change your eye color and ther's nice range from natural to red, yellow, or white etc. some interesting clothing potential too. im sure leakers will have better data on how much you can wear but you can put on hats, glasses, tops, pants, shoes, change your hair style and color (and eyebrows color), and eye color.

exploring is kinda fun, just wish the environments led to a sense of actual wonder and wanderlust, where honestly i find myself purely motivated by looking for new pokemon instead of wandering for the sake of exploring AND pokemon.

big scary pokemon are pretty scary bc they can and will fuck your shit up.

and the story so far seems to have a LOT more oomph than swsh ever dreamed of having so we're doing good. your rival has character bc theyre scared of pokemon in the beginning. other npcs are pretty interesting. we have diamond and pearl clan leaders arguing over the importance of time vs space. diamond clan has some like... traditional japanese punk-goth fusion fashion sense i really enjoy hehe. pearl leader has the pink and preppy look but still traditional aspects. the design for npcs is great. zisa is everyone's new butch lesbian fighter wife with thighs of steel. zolo, a merchant, even has a cool design, and is sus but maybe im wrong about that bc my brain wants him to be lol.

battle system is the same as ever but feels refreshing due to the nature of stealth ball throws and the open field. all learned moves can be exchanged out at any point basically. you can also change nicknames whenever.

ive heard a lot of negative things on some hisuian forms, but i chose to remain unspoiled on them so ill withhold judgement. i picked cyndaquil despite knowing how divisive typhlosion looks. lol.

up so that sums it up more or less! might add more thoughts later as i progress.

i am expecting very, very little from this game so i hope it doesn't disappoint my very low bar
