Navigating Peak Season: Tips for Booking Flight Tickets During Busy Times
As the travel industry ebbs and flows, there are certain times of the year when booking flight tickets becomes akin to navigating a crowded airport terminal during rush hour. Peak seasons, marked by holidays, festivals, and school breaks, often witness a surge in demand for air travel. Whether you're planning a holiday getaway or a business trip, securing affordable flights during these busy times can seem like a daunting task. However, armed with the right strategies and insights, you can still snag great deals and make your journey a smooth one.
For more features please visit https://trailtravelz.com/
Understanding Peak Seasons:
Before delving into tips for booking flight tickets during busy times, it's essential to grasp the dynamics of peak seasons. These periods are characterized by heightened demand, resulting in higher ticket prices and limited availability. Major holidays like Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving, and Easter typically see a spike in travel activity, as do school vacations and popular events such as music festivals and sporting competitions. Additionally, factors like weather patterns, cultural celebrations, and seasonal attractions can influence travel patterns and contribute to the congestion.
Tips for Booking Flight Tickets During Busy Times:
Plan Ahead: One of the cardinal rules of navigating peak season travel is to plan well in advance. As soon as you know your travel dates, start monitoring flight prices and availability. Booking early not only ensures access to a wider range of options but also increases the likelihood of securing lower fares.
Be Flexible: Flexibility is key to finding affordable flights during peak seasons. Consider adjusting your travel dates by a few days or even opting for mid-week departures, as these times often feature lower demand and consequently, cheaper fares. Additionally, remain open to alternative airports and routes, which could offer better deals compared to popular hubs.
Set Fare Alerts: Take advantage of fare alert services offered by various online travel agencies and airlines. These tools notify you when prices drop or rise for your selected route, enabling you to capitalize on discounted fares and avoid booking during price surges.
Utilize Incognito Mode: When browsing for flights online, use private or incognito mode to prevent websites from tracking your search history. Airlines and booking platforms often use cookies to monitor user activity and may adjust prices based on demand. By browsing anonymously, you can avoid potential price hikes resulting from repeated searches.
Consider Connecting Flights: While direct flights are convenient, they tend to be pricier during peak seasons. Opting for connecting flights, albeit slightly less convenient, can significantly lower your overall travel costs. Be sure to factor in layover durations and potential transit visa requirements when evaluating these options.
Join Loyalty Programs: Frequent flyer programs and airline loyalty schemes can yield substantial benefits, especially when booking during busy times. Accumulated miles, elite status perks, and exclusive offers may give you an edge in securing upgrades or accessing discounted fares unavailable to non-members.
Monitor Flash Sales and Promotions: Keep an eye out for flash sales, promotional offers, and last-minute deals announced by airlines and travel agencies. These limited-time offers often coincide with peak seasons and can provide significant savings if you're quick to act.
Consider Alternative Accommodation: In destinations where accommodation prices skyrocket during peak seasons, consider alternative lodging options such as vacation rentals, hostels, or guesthouses. Savings on accommodation costs can offset higher flight ticket prices, making your overall trip more budget-friendly.
Stay Informed About Travel Restrictions: Stay abreast of travel advisories, entry requirements, and COVID-19 protocols, especially if you're planning international travel during peak seasons. Regulations and restrictions can vary widely between destinations, and failing to comply could disrupt your travel plans or incur additional expenses.
Be Prepared for Crowds: Finally, mentally prepare yourself for the crowds and long queues synonymous with peak season travel. Arrive at the airport well in advance, pack essential items to keep yourself comfortable during transit, and maintain a positive attitude amidst the hustle and bustle.
Conclusion:
Booking flight tickets during peak seasons requires patience, flexibility, and a strategic approach. By planning ahead, staying flexible, and leveraging available resources, you can navigate the challenges of busy travel periods and secure affordable fares for your next adventure. Remember, with the right mindset and preparation, even the busiest of seasons can be a rewarding and memorable experience.

Intel researchers see a path to trillion-transistor chips by 2030
Did you miss a session from GamesBeat Summit Next 2022? All sessions are now available for viewing in our on-demand library. Click here to start watching.
Intel announced that its researchers foresee a way to make chips 10 times more dense through packaging improvements and a layer of a material that is just three atoms thick. And that could pave the way to putting a trillion transistors on a chip package by 2030.
Moore’s Law is supposed to be dead. Chips aren’t supposed to get much better, at least not through traditional manufacturing advances. That’s a dismal notion on the 75th anniversary of the invention of the transistor. Back in 1965, Intel chairman emeritus Gordon Moore predicted the number of components, or transistors, on a chip would double every couple of years.
That law held up for decades. Chips got faster and more efficient. Chip makers shrank the dimensions of chips, and goodness resulted. The electrons in a miniaturized chip had shorter distances to travel. So the chip got faster. And the shorter distances meant the chip used less material, making it cheaper. And so Moore’s Law’s steady march meant that chips could get faster, cheaper, and even more power efficient at the same time.
But Moore’s Law really depended on brilliant human engineers coming up with better chip designs and continuous manufacturing miniaturization. During recent years, it got harder to make those advances. The chip design ran into the laws of physics. With atomic layers a few atoms thick, it wasn’t possible to shrink anymore. And so Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently said, “Moore’s Law is dead.”

Intel showed how it could build chips with complex interconnected packages.
That’s not good timing, since we’re just about to start building the metaverse. Moore’s Law is vital to addressing the world’s insatiable computing needs as surging data consumption and the drive toward increased artificial intelligence (AI) brings about the greatest acceleration in demand ever.
A week after Nvidia’s CEO said that, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said that Moore’s Law is alive and well. That’s no surprise since he has bet tens of billions of dollars on new chip manufacturing plants in the U.S. Still, his researchers are backing him up at the International Electron Devices Meeting. Intel made it clear that these advances are may five to ten years out.
In papers at the research event, Intel described breakthroughs for keeping Moore’s Law on track to a trillion transistors on a package in the next decade. At IEDM, Intel researchers are showcasing advances in 3D packaging technology with a new 10 times improvement in density, said Paul Fischer, director and senior principal engineer in components research at Intel, said in a press briefing.
“Our mission is to keep our options for process technology rich and full,” he said.
These packages have been used in innovative ways lately; Intel rival Advanced Micro Devices announced that its latest graphics chip has a processor chip and six memory chips — all connected together in a single package. Intel said it collaborates with government entities, universities, industry researchers, and chip equipment companies. Intel shares the fruits of the research at places like the IEDM event.
Intel also unveiled novel materials for 2D transistor scaling beyond RibbonFET, including super-thin materials just three atoms thick. It also described new possibilities in energy efficiency and memory for higher-performing computing; and advancements for quantum computing.
“Seventy-five years since the invention of the transistor, innovation driving Moore’s Law continues to address the world’s exponentially increasing demand for computing,” said Gary Patton, Intel vice president of components research and design enablement, in a statement. “At IEDM 2022, Intel is showcasing both the forward-thinking and concrete research advancements needed to break through current and future barriers, deliver to this insatiable demand, and keep Moore’s Law alive and well for years to come.”
The transistor’s 75th birthday
The layers between chip circuits can be as little as three atoms thick.
Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the transistor, Ann Kelleher, Intel executive vice president and general manager of technology development, will lead a plenary session at IEDM. Kelleher will outline the paths forward for continued industry innovation – rallying the ecosystem around a systems-based strategy to address the world’s increasing demand for computing and more effectively innovate to advance at a Moore’s Law pace.
The session, “Celebrating 75 Years of the Transistor! A Look at the Evolution of Moore’s Law Innovation,” takes place at 9:45 a.m. PST on December 5.
To make advances required, Intel has a multi-pronged approach of “growing signficance and certainly a growing influence within Intel” to look across multiple disciplines. Intel has to move forward in chip materials, chip-making equipment, design, and packaging, Fischer said.
“3D packaging technology is enabling the seamless integration of chiplets,” or multiple chips in a package, he said. “We’re blurring the line between where silicon ends and packaging begins.”
Continuous innovation is the cornerstone of Moore’s Law. Many of the key innovation milestones for continued power, performance and cost improvements over the past two decades – including strained silicon, Hi-K metal gate and FinFET – in personal computers, graphics processors and data centers started with Intel’s Components Research Group.
Further research, including RibbonFET gate-all-around (GAA) transistors, PowerVia back side power delivery technology and packaging breakthroughs like EMIB and Foveros Direct, are on the roadmap today.
At IEDM 2022, Intel’s Components Research Group said it is developing new 3D hybrid bonding packaging technology to enable seamless integration of chiplets; super-thin, 2D materials to fit more transistors onto a single chip; and new possibilities in energy efficiency and memory for higher-performing computing.
How Intel will do it
Intel foresees voracious demand for computing power.
Researchers have identified new materials and processes that blur the line between packaging and silicon. Intel said it foresees moving from tens of billions of transistors on a chip today to a trillion transistors on a package, which can have a lot of chips on it.
One way to make the advances is through packaging that can achieve an additional 10 times interconnect density, leading to quasi-monolithic chips. Intel’s materials innovations have also identified practical design choices that can meet the requirements of transistor scaling using a novel material just three atoms thick, enabling the company to continue scaling beyond RibbonFET.
Intel’s latest hybrid bonding research presented at IEDM 2022 shows an additional 10 times improvement in density for power and performance over Intel’s IEDM 2021 research presentation.
Continued hybrid bonding scaling to a three-nanometer pitch achieves similar interconnect densities and bandwidths as those found on monolithic system-on-chip connections. A nanometer is a billionth of a meter.
Intel said it is looking to super-thin ‘2D’ materials to fit more transistors onto a single chip. Intel demonstrated a gate-all-around stacked nanosheet structure using a thin 2D channel just three atoms thick, while achieving near-ideal switching of transistors on a double-gate structure at room temperature with low leakage current.
These are two key breakthroughs needed for stacking GAA transistors and moving beyond the fundamental limits of silicon.
Researchers also revealed the first comprehensive analysis of electrical contact topologies to 2D materials that could further pave the way for high-performing and scalable transistor channels.
To use chip area more effectively, Intel redefines scaling by developing memory that can be placed vertically above transistors. In an industry first, Intel demonstrates stacked ferroelectric capacitors that match the performance of conventional ferroelectric trench capacitors and can be used to build FeRAM on a logic die.
An industry-first device-level model captures mixed phases and defects for improved ferroelectric hafnia devices, marking significant progress for Intel in supporting industry tools to develop novel memories and ferroelectric transistors.
Intel sees a path to trillion-transistor chips with several approaches.
Bringing the world one step closer to transitioning beyond 5G and solving the challenges of power efficiency, Intel is building a viable path to 300 millimeter GaN-on-silicon wafers. Intel breakthroughs in this area demonstrate a 20 times gain over industry standard GaN and sets an industry record figure-of-merit for high performance power delivery.
Intel is making breakthroughs on super-energy-efficient technologies, specifically transistors that don’t forget, retaining data even when the power is off. Already, Intel researchers have broken two of three barriers keeping the technology from being fully viable and operational at room temperature.
Intel continues to introduce new concepts in physics with breakthroughs in delivering better qubits for quantum computing. Intel researchers work to find better ways to store quantum information by gathering a better understanding of various interface defects that could act as environmental disturbances affecting quantum data.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Review- One of the best graphics card for 4k gaming
We are in the middle of the Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 review, which will take you through the pros and cons of the new graphics card. In our testing, the RTX took 35 seconds less in the Victor benchmark. The 3070 performed better in Blender and Classroom, but AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series is set to be announced in the next few days. As such, the RTX isn't quite ready to replace the 2080, but if you're on the fence, we're here to help you make the right decision for your next gaming card. The 3070 brings ultra-enthusiast gaming performance to an affordable price. With its cooling system and small size, the Geforce RTX 3070 could even become the darling of the small form factor brigade. We won't be able to reveal more details about the RTX 30, but the results of our tests indicate that it will sell a lot of stock. So, what exactly is the RTX thirty-seven? The Geforce RTX 3070 is an excellent companion for high-refresh rate monitors. In fact, it can achieve 80-90fps at maximum settings. While the frame rate numbers aren't as impressive as those of the RTX 3080, the RTX 3070 is still a powerful graphics card. In fact, it's better suited for 2560x1440 resolution.
Geforce RTX 3070 Performance
RTX 3070 Gaming Performance In terms of graphics performance, the RTX 3070 is equal to the RTX 2080 Ti. But, the 3070 delivers a massive performance boost over the 2080. For the average gamer, the 30-70 should be more than enough, but for gamers, the 3080 is still the better choice. A couple of games require more power than the RTX, but it can still keep up. In terms of raw performance, the Geforce RTX 3070 isn't far behind its predecessor. It has a slightly lower TDP than the RTX 2080, but the Ampere GPU is far more powerful and has a 25% performance advantage. The RTX 3070's price is an important consideration. However, if you're only gaming at 1440p, you'll be happy with its performance. If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Geforce RTX 3070 is an excellent choice. It has second-generation RT cores and third-generation Tensor chipset. Its ray tracing performance is twice as fast as the RTX 2080 Ti. Its ray-tracing performance is a big plus for a card that's priced between $499 and $599. The RTX 3070 is a great GPU for gaming. The cheapest version is $499 and offers excellent performance. Its TDP is only slightly lower than the RTX 2080 Ti, but it has a significantly faster clock. It also supports 4K games, but its price is much cheaper than the RTX 3080. It's also more affordable than the RTX 2080, so it's an excellent option if you're a gamer or media producer.
RTX 3070 vs RTX 2080 Ti
Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti, the RTX 3070 has a more modest performance. While it has fewer CUDA cores than the RTX 2080 Ti, it matches the performance of the former. In Resident Evil 3, the RTX 3070 was 39% faster than its predecessor. At 4K, it dropped slightly to match the 2080 Ti but was 6% slower than the former. Both cards are capable of running games at their highest resolutions. For gamers looking for a 4K60 GPU, the RTX 3070 is one of the best choices available. Its performance is comparable to the RTX 2080 Ti's, but it's nearly half the price. While the latter isn't as powerful as the RTX's predecessor, the latter has more features, and the RTX is a good choice. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti, the Geforce RTX 3070 is more affordable than its predecessor. Despite its lower price tag, it is a good choice for 4K gaming at high settings. But it's not positioned as a 1400p card, but a card that supports 4K at high resolutions. The RTX 3070 is a great upgrade for 2020 gamers. It is not only more affordable than the RTX 2080 Ti, but it also has a more competitive price. Compared to the RTX 3080, the RX 6800 performs better than the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. On Monday, several travel measures will be loosened for people entering Canada. There are still a few rules, including the pre-arrival COVID-19 test requirement, which makes returning home from abroad more complicated and costly.
As of the beginning of this year, the federal government is requiring travellers entering Canada to show proof of a negative molecular test, such as a PCR, taken within 72 hours of their departure flight or their planned arrival at the land border.
Efforts are now underway to offer rapid antigen tests, which are usually cheaper (generally under $100) and more convenient, as results are available within minutes.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on Friday that travellers must take the antigen test no more than a day before their departure or arrival at the land border.
It must be taken in the country from which one is departing, and one can only take one that is authorized for travellers. "It can't be the take-home tests that we've seen in our communities," explained Denis Vinette, the CBSA's Travellers Branch vice-president. "It must be tested by a lab that will provide you with written confirmation whether you are positive or negative.”
Government still faces pressure to drop pre-arrival testing, despite offering a potentially cheaper option. "This is ridiculous,” said Dave Swidler, a Mont-Tremblant, Que. Resident who will return to Mont-Tremblant on March 14 from the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
"Why are they making me take a test after three vaccines and wearing a mask instead of taking any chances, making me stress about it and making me take a test to come home?”
On Friday, several border-town mayors on both sides of the border called for the end of all pre-arrival testing for fully vaccinated travellers at the land border.
Drew Dilkens said that even when you get antigen test, "you still need to make an appointment, find a pharmacy and click the box, he said at a news conference.
"There is no need for testing at the border anymore.” Medical experts also say Ottawa should stop pre-arrival testing, arguing it is useless now that Omicron has spread across Canada.
However, further easing of border measures will only come when pandemic conditions improve. Last week, Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said, ”We must continue to exercise prudence. The virus isn’t going away.”
It has not eased the rules for travellers who test positive abroad. Before travelling in Canada, travellers must wait at least ten full days after taking their test. If infected Canadians violate the rules, they may be fined up to $5,000.
“If you test positive for COVID-19 abroad, you may have to extend your trip,” Duclos said in French. People who recently recovered from the disease are not required to take a pre-arrival test — if they show proof of a molecular test between 10 and 180 days before entering Canada.
Vinette said that the PCR molecular test remined the gold standard. "You need the molecular test in order to demonstrate a positive outcome to re-enter.
Therefore, travellers abroad who test positive for an antigen may face complications. To return home, they must undergo a second test and if they do opt for another antigen test, it must be negative.
Torontonian Norm Chew had hoped Canada would drop its pre-arrival testing requirement. Due to fears of testing positive, he says he is likely to cancel his family's ski trip to Vermont since that didn’t happen.
"We have to stay out for 10 days, if we test positive, otherwise we could be fined,” said Chew, who had planned to drive to Vermont. "No thanks to ten days in a hotel with four sick people.”
In addition, beginning Monday, unvaccinated children under the age of 12 entering Canada with fully vaccinated parents will no longer have to avoid schools, daycares and other crowded settings for 14 days.
In addition, those travellers who are randomly selected to be tested upon arrival will not be quarantined while waiting for the results of their tests. The advisory against non-essential international travel has also been lifted by Canada. While the advisory was in place for most of the pandemic, millions of Canadians still travelled abroad.

What Impacted COVID-19 on the Global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) ?
Impact of COVID-19 on the Global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) in the Pharmaceuticals Industry
WHO (World Health Organization) has characterized novel coronavirus as a global pandemic on March 11, 2020. This present pandemic has led to an intolerable impact on both the health and pharmaceutical structure which has ultimately created an ultimate issue on patients’ health.
APIs are the effective ingredient present in the medicine, and even small amount of active ingredients known to produce effective result. APIs are either used as single dose or as mixed dose combination in order to produce an effective medicine. However, raw materials are confused with the APIs used for making medicine, but the raw materials are the substances which are used for manufacturing of APIs and the chemical compound used for making the raw material is called as an intermediate. Even more than 10 kinds of intermediate chemical compounds are used for manufacturing of a single API. In order to manufacture API, the manufacturer has to first develop the chemical compound at first which is used for further processing of APIs. These API molecules are formed in large sized reactors. After manufacturing, these APIs are checked for purity and their effectiveness as API market is such a huge market and has a great application in the medical field there is a huge demand of close monitoring of manufacturing process. But due to continuous pandemic of COVID-19 and long term shut down has put an adverse effect on overall drug manufacturing companies. The government of several countries has reported that there is huge scarcity of APIs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason behind that is the barrier across the countries border that has an ultimatum effect over the import and export facilities of medicinal product among others.
As the Indian pharmaceutical industry is largely dependent upon the China for procurement of APIs, as China is the first global leader involved in the manufacturing of low cost APIs. This has been reported that approximately 70% of APIs raw materials are imported from China to India. But the continuous pandemic of COVID-19 and barrier across the borders have a massive effect on export of good from one country to another and has led to the scarcity of APIs in India, the U.S. and the U.K. among other countries. As India is the world’s third largest supplier of low-cost and affordable generic drugs to millions of people all over the world and operates about 250 the U.S. FDA, the U.K Medicine and Healthcare product Regulatory Agency approved plants. Hence any impact on Indian APIs pharmaceutical industry led to a negative impact on overall global APIs manufacturing plants.
STRATEGIC DECISIONS FOR MANUFACTURERS
Sudden voluminous demand of APIs in order to fight against the COVID-19 has led the manufacturers to take several strategic initiatives. Large number of population affected with this COVID-19 virus and expanding spread across the world from last few months has enhanced the need of effective treatment options. To deal with the COVID-19 outbreak challenges, many APIs manufacturers are creating new strategies. To meet an actual as well as prompt increase in customer demand or to anticipated prospective increase in customer demand APIs market players are exclusively concentrating on gaining the production capacity. It is predicted that these strategies are anticipated to escalate up the company revenue and its growth in the forecasted period.
For instance;
· In January 2021, Sanofi had opened a new European company named EUROAPI which is engaged in the manufacturing and commercialization of APIs. The company established considered as one of the largest APIs manufacturing company in Europe. Through this initiative company has expanded its APIs business worldwide.
· In December 2020, DSM achieved ANVISA certification for its Colombia manufacturing plant. The certification achieved by the company allowed it to expand its commercialization of pharmaceutical premix products into other countries including Brazil among others. This certification boosted the company’s manufacturing activities.
· In October 2020, Recipharm AB signed an agreement with BIAL for boosting up the supply capabilities of APIs.
· In September 2020, Recipharm AB announced for the expansion of API facility in terms of capacity and financials in Israel. The company has invested USD 2.5 million in the clinical GMP API facility, in order to fulfill the increasing unmet demand of consumers in the API market.
· In September 2020, Jubilant Pharmova Limited signed an agreement with Saptagir Laboratories for the manufacturing of Remdesivir indicated for the treatment of COVID-19. The agreement signed helped the company to boost up the existing product portfolio and to earn a lucrative growth in the market amid COVID-19 pandemic.
· In May 2020, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. initiated the product trial for the anti-coagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs. The clinical trial included the nafamostat and the other drug is plant based dengue drug. This initiative adopted by the company helped it to expand its business even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
· In May 2020, HIKAL ltd. has developed Favipiravir API and its intermediates. The product developed has been proved effective against the influenza viruses and is under various clinical trials for treatment of COVID-19. This initiative demonstrated the company’s strength for providing high quality medicines for its customer globally.
This signifies that various strategic initiatives adopted by the companies allow them to attain a lucrative growth even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
IMPACT ON DEMAND
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is one of the infectious diseases caused by a SARS-CoV-2 virus and has affected and still affecting a large pool of the population worldwide. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) causes acute respiratory illness ranges from mild to severe pneumonia along with respiratory failure. As there is no specific and approved treatment to treat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the need of effective treatment is at high demand. Due to these all affirmative factors there is direct requirement of APIs for drugs manufacturing, which is indicating the future huge demand of API.
By recognizing the actual as well as prompt increase in customer demand or to anticipated prospective increase in customer demand, healthcare organization as well as government bodies’ calls on industry to increase manufacturing of APIs.
Moreover, several initiatives are taken by the government in order to meet the demand of drug manufacturing.
For instance,
· The department of pharmaceuticals (DoP, India) has announced for the proposal for the creation of new drug manufacturing facility with the investment of USD 397.13million in order to allow companies to set up the new manufacturing facilities for APIs
The increasing prescriptions for several kinds of illness including respiratory illness, mental illness among others has led to scarcity of drugs and API molecules used for drug manufacturing. Disproportionately high COVID-19 patient volumes putting strain on scarce drugs. Henceforth, it is estimated that global API market anticipated to boom up in the forecasted period.
IMPACT ON SUPPLY CHAIN
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many organizations’ business environment; supply availability of various drugs has been hampered due to a large number of issues, including import and export restrictions across the countries, and continuous lockdowns that have forced suppliers to (temporarily) shut down the manufacturing facilities and supply capabilities. China occupies a predominant position in the global APIs market. China has secured a considerable market share of APIs market at global level and it exports about 17.87% of vitamin APIs among others to other countries.
Moreover, this has been reported that European pharmaceutical companies also rely on India for manufacturing of their products and India is largely dependent on China for 70% of APIs.
Since 1990, the U.S. is heavily relied on India and China for manufacturing of pharmaceutical products among others because China provides cheaper ingredients and those are not subjected to that much high regulatory rules and laws.
Moreover this has been projected out that UNICEF procures most of the pharmaceutical products from China and India and few of them from Europe as well. For Vitamin, a capsule containing Retinol UNICEF and CIK depend on same supplier and also procures from Canada.
Moreover, as the market players are totally aware of the loss that they may likely to suffer due to disruption of supply chain, they are continuously monitoring their product supplies and manufacturing capabilities in order to prevent the loss to their overall business.
For instance,
· Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., manufacturer of Accutane (Isotretinoin capsules) has announced that the company is enacting all appropriate measures in order to ensure the safe supply of their medicines and APIs.
This signifies that COVID-19 is disrupting the supply chain of APIs, it is also restricting the procurement procedure of APIs from different sources among other factors but several initiatives are taken by the manufacturers and government organizations is creating a hope for the improvement of supply chain of APIs.
PRICE IMPACT
The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has enormous impact on global pharmaceutical market involving APIs among others. The demand for APIs is on surge across the globe because of increasing prevalence of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) all over the world and demand of effective treatment options.
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an immense increase in cost of drugs due to rising demand of drugs for treatment of several kinds of disease including HIV, cancer, epilepsy, malaria among others.
For instance,
· As per the data provided by the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (PHARMEXCIL), the cost of Penicillin APIs has raised to USD 8.69 per unit in October 2020 from the USD 6.16 per unit in January 2020.
· Moreover the data procured by the APIs manufacturer suggested that there is an increase in about 13 to 18 percent of APIs prices for antibiotic involving Amikacin, Doxycycline, Azithromycin, Dexamethasone Sodium and Ornidazole among others as India imports most of them from China.
· Montelukast sodium (an anti-asthmatic drug) costs USD 705.93 to USD 787.38 per Kg in October 2020 as compared to USD 447.99 to USD 515.87 per Kg before few months.
· The prices of vitamins and penicillin have also attained a lucrative growth due to sudden rise in their prices by 40 to 50 percent as that of the original existing prices.
· India’s drug pricing regulator has also allowed pharmaceutical companies to enhance the prices of essential drugs by 50 percent including Heparin (an anticoagulant) which is in high demand to increasing risk of COVID-19 infection to patients suffering from heart attacks, strokes and lung or pulmonary embolism.
· As per the publication of April 2020, the cost of azithromycin, paracetamol, anti-inflammatory drug nimesulide APIs enhanced up to 60 to 190% during the pandemic of COVID-19. This price hike was due to shut down of China’s APIs production units. The increasing demand of several kinds of drug during COVID-19 pandemic has enhanced the demand of APIs that in turn led to APIs shortage. These shortages have an ultimatum effect on existing APIs prices.
This signifies that price of APIs hiked due to continuous coronavirus outbreak.
CONCLUSION
It is predicted that the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak has significant impact on the growth of global APIs market due to huge elevation in the demand of APIs. Moreover, many government and healthcare organization (United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), partners and World Health Organization are exclusively focusing on the supply of APIs and its manufacturing due to priorities and essential requirement in this crucial period. Moreover, several clinical trials also expected to provide market with a lucrative growth.

A Big Climate Problem With Few Easy Solutions: Planes The worst of the pandemic may be over for airlines, but the industry faces another looming crisis: an accounting over its contribution to climate change. The industry is under increasing pressure to do something to reduce and eventually eliminate emissions from travel, but it won’t be easy. Some solutions, like hydrogen fuel cells, are promising, but it’s unclear when they will be available, if ever. That leaves companies with few options: They can make tweaks to squeeze out efficiencies, wait for technology to improve or invest today to help make viable options for the future. “It’s a big crisis, it’s a pressing crisis — a lot needs to be done soon,” said Jagoda Egeland, an aviation policy expert at the International Transport Forum, a unit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. “It’s a hard-to-abate sector. It will always emit some carbon.” Experts say commercial air travel accounts for about 3 to 4 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. And while planes become more efficient with each new model, growing demand for flights is outpacing those advancements. The United Nations expects airplane emissions of carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, to triple by 2050. Researchers at the International Council on Clean Transportation say emissions may grow even faster. Before the pandemic, a “flying shame” movement, which aims to discourage air travel in favor of greener options like rail, was gaining ground globally thanks to Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate activist. There were early signs that it may have reduced air travel in Germany and Sweden. Now French lawmakers are considering a ban on short flights that can be replaced by train travel. Investors are pushing businesses to disclose more about their efforts to lobby lawmakers on climate issues, too. And some large corporations, whose employees crisscross the globe and fill plush business class seats, are reviewing travel budgets to reduce expenses and emissions. The urgency isn’t lost on the industry. Scott Kirby, the chief executive of United Airlines, speaks often about the need to address climate change, but even he acknowledges that it will be difficult for the industry to clean up its act. He wants United and other airlines to try different things and see what works. “It is the biggest long-term issue that our generation faces. It is the biggest risk to the globe,” Mr. Kirby said in a recent interview. “There are plenty of things we can compete on, but we all ought to be trying to make a difference on climate change.” There are efforts to electrify small planes for short flights — including one backed by United — but doing the same for longer, larger flights will be tough, maybe impossible. Commercial planes like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A320, which can carry a few hundred passengers, require an immense amount of energy to reach cruising altitude — more energy than modern batteries can efficiently supply. Someday, hydrogen fuel cells and synthetic jet fuel could help to decarbonize the industry, and pilot projects have already begun, mainly in Europe, where Airbus says it plans to build a zero-emission aircraft by 2035. Boeing has put its emphasis on developing more fuel-efficient planes and is committed to ensuring that all of its commercial planes can fly exclusively on “sustainable” jet fuel made from waste, plants and other organic matter. ‘It’s going to be a real stretch.’ At a petrochemical plant outside Houston, Neste U.S. and Texmark Chemicals are converting imported undistilled diesel into renewable jet fuels. The undistilled diesel is made from used cooking oil and waste from vegetable and animal processing plants. Neste, a Finnish company, is the world’s largest producer of renewable jet fuel. Its U.S. customers include American Airlines, JetBlue and Delta Air Lines. United, which buys renewable jet fuel from Fulcrum BioEnergy and World Energy, recently announced a deal with more than a dozen major corporate customers, including Deloitte, HP and Nike, that will result in the airline’s buying about 3.4 million gallons of sustainable fuel this year. American has an agreement to buy nine million gallons of such fuel over several years, and Delta says it plans to replace a tenth of its jet fuel with sustainable alternatives by 2030. “There is huge growth potential for sustainable aviation fuel,” said Jeremy Baines, president of Neste U.S. “It’s a niche market today, but it’s growing very rapidly. Between today and 2023 we are going to increase our production at least 15-fold.” Neste produces 35 million gallons of renewable aviation fuel and hopes to reach 515 million gallons annually by the end of 2023 by ramping up production at refineries in Singapore and Rotterdam, the Netherlands. That is enough to fuel close to 40,000 flights by wide-body aircraft between New York and London, or well over a year’s worth of prepandemic air travel between the two cities. But it is important to put those numbers in perspective. U.S. airlines used more than 18 billion gallons of fuel in 2019, and the country as a whole consumes more than 100 billion gallons of petroleum products annually. Rystad Energy, a Norwegian consulting firm, predicts that renewable fuels will become increasingly economical after 2030 and supply 30 percent of all aviation fuel by 2050. But IHS Markit, a U.S. consulting firm, estimates that sustainable jet fuel will make up only 15 percent of all jet fuel by 2050. Renewable jet fuel has its limits, too. The fuel reduces carbon emissions by only 30 percent to 50 percent compared with conventional jet fuel, according to Daniel Evans, the global head of refining and marketing at IHS Markit. What’s more, production of the fuel can cause deforestation when the raw materials are farmed. Some companies want to get around those problems by avoiding agricultural crops. Fulcrum, in which United is invested, is planning to build a plant in Britain to produce jet fuel out of waste from landfills and other trash. Red Rock Biofuels, a Colorado company, hopes to use waste woody biomass. But development of renewable fuels from waste or substances like fast-growing algae and switch grass has been frustratingly slow. “It’s going to be a real stretch,” Mr. Evans said. “Even if you are burning 100 percent biofuel, it’s still not going to be getting you to carbon neutral.” Biofuels are also about 50 percent more expensive to make than conventional fuel, according to Michael E. Webber, chief science and technology officer of Engie, a French utility working on advanced jet fuels. Hydrogen offers another possibility, although probably not for several decades. Instead of batteries or fuel engines, the potential hydrogen-powered aircraft of the future would operate with hydrogen tanks and fuel cells, though the technology would need to be advanced to reduce the size of the tanks and cells. The hydrogen could be made with renewable power sources like the wind and sun to reduce planet-warming emissions. But such fuels cost two to three times more than conventional fuel, experts say. Several European countries also require refiners to produce and blend renewable jet fuel. The European Union is financially supporting Airbus’s development of a hydrogen-fueled aircraft, and the French government is encouraging Air France to research a synthetic jet fuel. In the United States, federal support is minimal, so far. Renewable jet fuel producers receive a $1 per gallon subsidy under existing federal tax credits for biodiesel, but a bill introduced this month in the House would provide a tax credit starting at $1.5 per gallon. Should airlines offset or store carbon? Another option that many airlines have turned to is carbon offsets. By buying an offset, a company or individual effectively pays somebody else to plant or not cut trees or to take other steps to reduce greenhouse gases. But the benefits of some offsets are difficult to measure — it’s hard to know, for example, whether landowners would have cut down trees had they not been paid to preserve woods, a common type of offset. Mr. Kirby, the United chief executive, is skeptical that such offsets are effective. “Traditional carbon offsets are a marketing initiative; they’re greenwashing,” he said. “Even in the few cases where they are real and are making a difference, they’re just so small that they can’t scale to solve the global problem.” United helps passengers and corporate customers buy offsets, but Mr. Kirby said the company was focusing more on sustainable fuel and removing and storing carbon in perpetuity. In December, the airline said it was investing in 1PointFive, a joint venture between Occidental Petroleum and a private equity firm that plans to build plants that suck carbon dioxide from the air and store the gas deep underground. This approach would theoretically allow United and other airlines to remove as much carbon from the atmosphere as their planes put into it. “It’s the only solution I know of that can help get us as a globe to zero, because the others, if you understand the math, they just don’t work,” Mr. Kirby said. Such efforts had long been dismissed as impractical, but corporations are increasingly pouring money into them as investors and activists pressure businesses to decarbonize. Mr. Kirby said such investments would help to drive down costs. But some experts warn that while direct air capture can help industries that are difficult to decarbonize, the ultimate aim should be to attack the problem at the source. “If you can avoid the emissions in the first place, it’s so much cheaper and easier than having to pull it back out,” said Jennifer Wilcox, an Energy Department official and expert on direct air capture. Despite the formidable challenges, Mr. Kirby is optimistic that investments in alternative fuels and carbon capture technology will yield a breakthrough. “In the near term, it’s about getting them to work economically,” he said. “Once you cross that threshold, you will have an exponential increase.” Source link Orbem News #Big #Climate #Easy #planes #Problem #Solutions

Consumer Perspective:
The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced detrimental effects on the wellbeing of the general public and has completely changed the practices of our daily lives. One industry that has undertaken great change is the fashion industry. Overall demand for goods has decreased due to the lack of income circulation and the lack of purchasing power by consumers. However, the rise of online shopping still holds extensive benefits for the consumer although it stresses producers. The nationwide lockdowns have forced producers to digitize in order to stay in business. The way we as consumers shop and the availability of producers has completely transformed in the past few months, expedited by the effects of the pandemic. Here, we will discuss the perspectives of both sides of the market while holding the relevancy of the pandemic.
Online shopping has been around since the beginning of the Internet, but the market for such platforms has been greatly magnified in the past year alone. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers had access to two main options of shopping: in-store and online, both holding their benefits and disadvantages. Although overall demand for fashion items has decreased due to household income availability, the demand for online purchases has skyrocketed due to the lack of access to in-store shopping options, with the factor of boredom also playing into the amount of time spent online browsing and searching. As a consumer in the current market, we are faced with the problem of what exactly to consume. These rational decisions made by consumers are more heavily driven by multiple factors that one must consider before making a purchasing decision.
For consumers like Leah, rational decision-making must be heavily implemented during this time. She browses Stock X out of quarantine boredom and a pair of Jordan 4 Retro ‘Sand’ catches her attention. This product is a must-have for a shoe enthusiast like her. Let’s go through her thought process. The attractiveness of the shoe immediately takes a turn when she views the price tag: $400 (not including shipping or fees!). First, she must consider her opportunity costs. What is the opportunity cost associated with her potential purchase of $400 shoes? The answer: anything that can be bought instead with $400. Maybe food for the next few weeks, other clothing to feed her shopping addiction, or maybe even to cover something completely different, like her textbook fees. Leah is currently enrolled in a Microeconomics course at UCI and she knows that the problem of scarcity drives the study of economics. She knows that resources are scarce and wants are theoretically limitless. Therefore, she requires thought about how to allocate her resources efficiently, in order to satisfy her basic needs and as many additional wants as possible. In order to fuel her rational decision-making, another factor she must consider is her incentives. Is being viewed as cool amongst her peers a strong enough incentive for Leah to make the $400 purchase?
Prior to the lockdown, Joycelyn had a passion for sustainability and curating sustainable options in the fashion industry. She has somewhat of an online shopping addiction as well, bred from the boredom associated with quarantining. Since consumers are seeking cheaper goods and the demand for online purchasing is high, Joycelyn observes an increase in the demand for fast-fashion. Since she also studies Microeconomics as well at UCI, she knows that negative externalities must arise from the sudden demand for fast-fashion. An externality is when the production or consumption of a product results in a cost to a third party. She scrolls through TikTok and notices the trending site for all of the consumers’ fast-fashion needs/a popular example of a culprit of fast-fashion, SHEIN. As demand drives up production, fast-fashion retailers supply more goods for their consumers. A company like SHEIN produces many negative externalities due to its tendency to drive down manufacturing costs. Negative externalities can also cause deadweight loss to society, caused by market inefficiency. Some externalities that result from this profit incentivizing decision include factors that make the environment dirty. Pollution and water waste are the primary side effects of such production.
Similar to Leah and Joycelyn, Evelyn also has an interest in shopping whether it be online or in-stores. In particular, Evelyn loves going thrift shopping which consists of going out to stores like Goodwill, Eco Thrift, and Thrift Town. She started getting into shopping at these local thrift stores when she learned in her Microeconomics class, also taken at UCI, that most stores she used to shop at like Pacsun, Forever 21, H&M, and as mentioned before, SHEIN are all apart of fast-fashion, a negative externality. She believes that donated clothes and items at thrift stores could be a result of a positive externality, since the items purchased are reused and helps to reduce waste to the environment. This popular new trend known as thrifting has become well known due to many influencers that have promoted vintage outfits as the new fashion trend. This caused demand to increase and shift, while the supply curve remains the same. Thrift stores are known to be inexpensive since they are usually non-profit and people are starting to take advantage of this by starting small businesses, finding more “vintage” pieces in stores and posting them online for more money. These small businesses have created an oligopoly, where there is limited competition in the market.
The idea of being able to shop online appeals as an easy task because some believe gas and time can be conserved, human interaction is avoided, and that it can be a great resource for those with busy schedules, who are looking to expand their purchasing options. The advantages to online shopping include the availability of websites, being able to save on gas and having easier access to coupons and cash back online, having access to product reviews from other consumers, and most of all, the time convenience of shopping from home and not having to wait in long lines.
However, this is not exactly the case. Being a consumer during this pandemic, and having been forced to switch to shopping strictly online has definitely been challenging and is not as easy as it sounds. Many can also argue that online shopping also has its disadvantages, one of which being that it can easily lead to impulse shopping, something Leah, Joycelyn, and Evelyn have all personally experienced since the start of quarantine. Other cons include the inconvenience of having to wait for a product to come back in stock if there is a high demand, paying and having to wait for shipping, not being able to physically see the item, and having to deal with scamming, exchanges, or returns, a process much more difficult online. Additionally, when shopping for shoes as they release on certain shoe websites, there is still a line to wait for, it's not just a physical or in-person disadvantage. Shoes and other goods, especially those that are limited edition, are extremely hard to purchase nowadays since everybody is online on the lookout for different releases. Many times, people even take advantage of online shopping by using “bots” to purchase these goods, making it more difficult for others to purchase it online. Online retailers typically use these “bots” to resell these limited goods for about twice the retail price. In other words, given the circumstances of this global pandemic and shopping transitioning to digital platforms, it has been a lot more difficult for consumers to purchase rare goods they desire.
Producer Perspective:
From the producer side of the clothing and retail industry, COVID has significantly decreased demand for in-person shopping, which has subsequently affected the supply. Many retail stores and chains of retail corporations have shut down and gone out of business, causing people to lose their jobs.
An example of such a retail store is Nordstrom, a popular luxury department store chain that sells shoes and clothing, among other things. Nordstrom announced that it has permanently closed 16 stores showing a long-run effect since the pandemic and its sales were down 40%. To combat this, Nordstrom has begun putting many items on sale and decreasing the prices on many of their products due to a surplus, as a short-run effect. This has helped Nordstrom in encouraging customers to come in-store and buy their products. Contrastly, sales have increased for online shopping, curbside pick-up, and contact-less shopping.
The effects of the pandemic from an in-store perspective and experiences is that supply has decreased. Many luxury brands are leaving Nordstrom, such as Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Manolo Blahnik, pulling inventory because they are losing money. Furthermore, Nordstrom has been receiving less and less inventory from brands that have stayed. Stock rooms have gone from full to nearly empty and this is all in the response to the dramatic decrease in demand.
The Nordstrom Cole worked at began experiencing a surplus of supply due to the very low demand. To combat this surplus in supply, Nordstrom put several items on sale, reducing many prices by over 30 percent. As previously stated, this has increased the profit and significance of online shopping, curbside pick-up, and contact-less shopping, but has severely hurt in-store employees. The pandemic has produced a deadweight loss of a large amount for Nordstrom, from the surplus of supply to the reduction in prices of items. I would argue that supply is fairly inelastic, as Nordstrom has seen no increase or decrease in quantity supplied due to the change in price. If anything, supply, not quantity supplied from wholesalers, has decreased because of the lower price on items, which resulted in an increase in demand. The graph below shows an inelastic supply curve and fairly elastic demand. This shows both the decrease in price and the decrease in supply due to the reduction of price in items.
Now moving on to the producer’s perspective for online retailing. Online retailers, on the other hand, have experienced a very opposite trend, where the fashion industry has increased in sales over the past year. Customers can shop safely, conveniently, and interactively, making it an obvious option to move demand as well as supply towards an online base. Companies such as Berlin-based Zalando state upwards of 34% in increased online sales in just the first quarter after the official recognition of the pandemic alone (“It’s been a terrible year for fashion sales—unless they’re online,” Marc Bain, Quartz), proving to be just one example of many towards how the pandemic may change fashion retailing forever.
Ben’s life holds personal weight to the changes on the producer side within the fashion industry as well, with his parents’ online designer apparel marketing company LustreLife. The company partners primarily with top designer brands and online sales have increased by about 12-15%. The increase holds the trend towards a greater online shopping customer base, and marketers like LustreLife are now able to charge higher fees to their partners for the online customer base they provide. The pandemic has also been tricky to maneuver as trends of preferences continue to change.
As COVID-19 continues on and approaches its end, companies such as Ben’s parents’ must continually reassess their marketing strategies and retail decisions to meet the demands of these very unpredictable times. Suppliers constantly monitor the expectation of future market changes, and supply curves may change on a daily basis depending on the level of expectancy. Companies such as Zalando and LustreLife must change company focus on a consistent basis to keep up with all the factors of demand, especially preferences around fashion trends and consumer income changes. In the short-run view, as it relates to the pandemic, online retailers are expecting the fashion industry to remain online-focused, causing them to provide as much product as possible right now to maximize profits.
It’s important to note that demand elasticity changes based on the type of good being purchased and that in turn changes how producers respond. For luxury goods, which in this case would be designer wear, demand is mostly elastic. Since the pandemic has both increased demand for online retailing and decreased demand overall within the entire fashion market, the elastic demand curve for luxury goods as sold by online retailers remains the same. Supply shifts right, however, as fashion companies have moved much of their inventories towards online sales, resulting in an increase in sales. These changes result in a slightly increased equilibrium quantity and greatly decreased price for the online market of luxury fashion. LustreLife, for instance, has placed a greater emphasis on promoting products with deals, trying to achieve as much revenue as possible for their providers of luxury apparel and sell off their increased inventories.
For convenience goods, which would be everyday clothing, demand is inelastic. Supply for online fashion retailers has also increased with the move of inventories towards an online base. Demand for necessary clothing has thus increased for online retailers, but with a similar increase in supply, the new equilibrium for convenience clothing in the online fashion retailing industry holds the same price with an increased quantity.

(* The 9800 XT takes uses only one slot but the heatsink/fan assembly encroaches on slot 2. However, the back plate is still available for such things as the 8 port Internal-to-External SATA Port Adapter from MacGurus)
At first glance, it appears the X800 XT Mac Edition should give you equal or better performance than GeForce 6800 Ultra for an aftermarket price equal to the GeForce 6800 GT -- plus it only uses one slot. But let's look at real world performance.
The Unreal Tournament 2004 Retail build 3339 (UT2004) test was done using the latest SantaDuck Toolpak that combines botmatches and flybys in one application. We chose the Primeval Flyby at 1920x1200 at maximum quality settings to help dramatize the contribution of the graphics card in 3D gaming. The asterisk (*) next to the X800 XT stands for overclock runs with the card set to 500MHz core clock speed and 1100MHz memory clock speed using ATIccelerator II.
However, a good Botmatch is closer to actual game play, so we ran the BridgeOfFate match at 1920x1200 and maximum quality...
Halo is very OpenGL intensive, especially when you set quailty to high and run at high resolution. We used the Halo 1.5 update which now has GPU based Lens Flare performance.
Turn on Full Scene Anti-Aliasing (FSAA) and the gap between the X800 XT and the rest of the cards grows...
We used ATI Displays utility to override the Halo OpenGL settings with FSAA Multi 4X in the case of the ATI cards. Those of you who saw this page earlier today know that we switched from FSAA Super to Multi as we were told that Super only works at 1024x768 and below. As you can see, even with Multi, the X800 'out pulls' the GeForce 6800s.

Quake 3 Arena, though getting 'long in the tooth' is still a useful test for OpenGL (as well as dual processor) performance...
Motion is our newest test of graphic cards. As you can see below, how fast you can render a project for preview depends as much on your graphics card's speed (and memory capacity) as it does on your CPU power. This was the one test where the GeForce 6800 cards beat the X800 XT...
GRAPH LEGEND Graphics Cards X800 XT* = overclocked Radeon X800 XT using ATIccelerator II -- simulating X850 XT X800 XT = ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition (8X, 256MB) GeF68 UT = nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL (8X, 256MB) GeF68 GT = nVidia GeForce 6800 GT DDL (8X, 256MB) Rad98 XT = ATI Radeon 9800 XT OEM (8X, 256MB) Rad98 SE = ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition (8X, 256MB) Rad96 XT = ATI Radeon 9600 XT OEM (8X, 128MB) CPUs G5/2.5 = G5/2.5GHz MP Power Mac
CONCLUSION I'm very impressed with the performance of the ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition. It's equal to or faster than the GeForce 6800 Ultra in every test but one, yet costs $100 less and uses only one slot. Yes. It is half the length and half the thickness of the GeForce 6800 Ultra. So if you want to reclaim your PCI-X slot, better list your GeForce 6800 on eBay before everyone hears about the X800. ;-)
(In the photo above, the X800 is dwarfed by the GeForce 6800 Ultra in length and thickness as it sits on top of it.)
The X800 XT has the added advantage of being an ATI product which means it can utilize the ATI Displays utility to override the OpenGL settings in all applications to take advantage of such features as advanced Full Scene Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. As designated by the asterisk (*), we used ATIccelerator II to overclock the core to 500MHz and the memory to 1100MHz. There's no corresponding tool for the GeForce 6800 Ultra that I know of.
The only G5 Power User that might prefer the GeForce 6800 would be the few 'lucky dogs' with TWO 30' Cinema displays. The X800 XT comes with one dual link DVI port and one ADC port. That means it supports one 30' Cinema and a second display of your choosing (as long as it's not another 30' Cinema). The GeForce 6800 cards have two dual link DVI ports and therefore can drive two 30' Cinema displays.
ATI included an ADC port on the X800 because they believe most buyers of the X800 XT already have an ADC display they would like to use with their G5 Power Mac. However, if your second display is DVI (or even VGA), there are inexpensive adapters to convert the ADC port to drive a DVI or VGA display. (See 'Where to Buy' below)
FAN NOISE Many of you are asking 'How noisy is the fan?' ATI has done a good job of choosing a quiet fan for the X800. I had only the clear plastic baffle on the G5/2.5 Power Mac test unit. The ambient sound was very low. At 'idle,' if I put my ear right up to the baffle and cracked it open slightly, I could barely distinguish the X800's fan from the Power Mac's multiple fans. When I ran the Halo 'highest quality' TimeDemo sequence, the CPU fans kicked up drowning out any sound coming from the graphics card fan. The same is true of the GeForce 6800 Ultra.
Note to readers running at 1280x1024: There are great gains to be had over your 'old' graphics card by upgrading to the X800, even if you aren't running at 1920x1200. We re-ran our tests at 1280x1024. Check out the X800's advantage over the stock 9600 XT: 230% for Quake3 142% for UT2004 Flyby 40% for UT2004 Botmatch 247% for Halo with FSAA = 4 We'll publish a full page comparing all the cards at 1280x1024 soon. And we'll also address the issue, 'Does having dual processers help with 3D gaming?' (Short answer: only if you are running Quake3.)
NEWS FLASH
June 28th, 2005 -- Radeon X850 XT added to Apple's CTO options for the G5 Power Mac! And GeForce 6800 Ultra dropped! The X850 XT appears to be a speed bumped X800 XT. Yet by dropping the Ultra version of the GeForce 6800 and replacing it with the GT, the Radeon X850 XT becomes the best choice for maximum OpenGL performance. (See chart below) The other good news is that the X850 XT takes up only one slot (vs the CTO GeForce 6800 GT and Ultra which take up two). And at $350, it's cheaper than buying the G5 tower with the default wimpy Radeon 9600 or 9650 and replacing it with an aftermarket $500 Radeon X800 XT.
Only possible downside is if you have two 30' Cinemas. It only supports one 30' Cinema and one 'normal' display, while the GeForce 6800 GT and Ultra support up to two 30' Cinemas. (Don't panic when you hear that the X850 XT's second port is ADC. If you have two DVI displays, order the $29 ADC to DVI adapter from Apple. And don't confuse it with the DVI to ADC converter for $99. Click 'Displays' under 'Accessories' on Apple's online store.)
Don't be depressed if you just bought an X800 XT. You can use ATIccelerator II to tweak your X800 XT to run at 500MHz core clock and 550MHz memory clock speed just like the X850 XT, thereby making it an X850 XT. (See our charts at the top of this article.)

WHERE TO BUY VARIOUS GRAPHICS CARDS FOR YOUR POWER MAC and MAC PRO
For your Mac Pro, you have the following 16X PCI Express (PCIe) options: The GeForce 7300 GT (16X, 256MB, dual-link DVI + single-link DVI port) is the default. We recommend the Radeon X1900 XT (16X, 512MB, two dual-link DVI ports) as a CTO option. It's much faster than the GeForce 7300 GT and just as fast as the expensive Quadro FX 4500. According to Alias/Autodesk, the X1900 XT is the only graphics card without limitations when using Maya 8.5. To custom order your Mac Pro with the Radeon X1900 XT, go to the Apple Store and click on the Mac Pro graphic.
If you didn't order the Radeon X1900 XT with your Mac Pro, you can order the Radeon X1900 XT as an aftermarket kit for your Mac Pro, go to the Apple Store and click on DISPLAYS in the left margin or do a search on 'X1900.'

As opposed to other types of homeowners insurance, you do not typically have to worry about your personal property and liability. You can purchase a coverage option which will offer maximum protection coverage for personal belongings, including furniture, appliances, furniture, clothing, and medical care. If your car or truck comes with your name, you may be entitled to a refund if you don t have insurance on it first, before the insurance company gets in touch with you. If you have auto or truck insurance and have coverage on it first then it should just be able to take care of itself, and when you have car insurance, you can always use it. When this happens then you can expect to receive a refund. If your car insurance company does not give you a refund on a certain amount of money it might be easier to get a claim refund and avoid it altogether. Once your rates have increased to a higher enough price then you will need to figure out how much you can expect to pay for auto insurance. When you are in the process of buying your car, you may be wondering whether your car insurance is worth it. This process.

MacBook Pro 2019: 16-inch MacBook Pro Release Date, News and Rumors
The MacBook Pro 2019 refresh is an upgrade from its 2018 predecessor, but there are still many MacBook users that are getting fed up with recent moves that Apple’s made. The Cupertino company has been releasing new MacBook Pros and other Apple devices faster than we can replenish our bank accounts. And, while some of these upgrades have resulted in better devices – hats off to you, Mac mini – many of them are falling a bit flat. These updates are all due to Apple changing the way it approached the MacBook Pro back in 2016, focusing on features that make one of the best Macs more accessible to everyday users by further streamlining the design. This is perhaps why Apple got rid of all the non-Thunderbolt 3 ports. And, the MacBook Pro is certainly a case of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. However, there are plenty of old-school Apple users that are being alienated by Apple’s latest design philosophy. To be fair, the MacBook Pro 2018 did benefit from a significant internal revamp, now rocking 8th-generation Coffee Lake processors and some of the fastest SSDs we’ve seen to date, giving it unprecedented speed. Additionally, Apple has improved the display with True Tone tech, as well as fixed the issues with the Butterfly keyboard – or some of them at least. It did all that while maintaining the impressive battery levels of the 2017 model. As of July 2019, these are true as well for the 13-inch MacBook Pro entry-level model, which – thanks to a recent refresh – now touts the 8th-generation Intel Core i5 chip, True Tone Retina display and the improved keyboard – not to mention the Touch Bar, Touch ID and Apple’s T2 security chip. Even better, Apple has also released 15-inch MacBook Pro configurations that tout the latest 8-core Intel Core i9, Intel’s latest 9th generation processor (CPU). These configurations are now Apple’s top-of-the-line MacBook Pros, the cheapest of which supports the 2.3GHz 8‑core 9th‑generation Intel Core i9 (Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz) CPU with 16GB memory (RAM), a Radeon Pro 560X graphics (GPU) and 512GB SSD storage at $2,799 (£2,699, A$4,099). What do these latest improvements mean for the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 we've also been anticipating? Recent rumours have reinforced the possibility of a true redesign gracing us with its presence this year, perhaps alongside the new Mac Pro 2019. However, Apple might opt to roll out a completely new model in 2020 or 2021. Regardless, the true MacBook Pro 2019 could still happen, especially because the 12-inch MacBook was recently dropped from the lineup. Famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has produced some leaks that suggest Apple is going to release a 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 with an “all-new” design, and that could still happen this year. Plus, we’re still keeping our fingers crossed they’ll give that still-pesky keyboard a redesign, and recent reports are looking good in that regard. If the completely overhauled MacBook Pro 2019 is still in the works, here are the things we’re hoping to see. Cut to the chase What is it? The first-ever 16-inch MacBook Pro When is it out? Possibly late 2019 How much will it cost? Reports say around $3,000 (about £2,450, AU$4,350)
Image Credit: Apple MacBook Pro 2019 release date While a 2019 follow-up redesign to the MacBook Pro (as well as the Mac Pro) is still something many Apple fans are looking forward to, there’s only a vague "2019" rumoured release date at this time. That’s hardly a surprise since the last major update came out in July 2018, and Apple just dropped its 9th-gen Intel Core CPU configurations and a 13-inch MacBook Pro July 2019 refresh. Still, it would be curious to see macOS Catalina in an overhauled MacBook Pro. We might need to wait a few more months for a clearer date, or even a confirmation that it will happen, but rumours and reports are piling up. If we’re going by Apple’s previous release dates – with the MacBook Pro 2017 launching in June 2017 and the MacBook Pro 2018 model debuting under the radar in July 2018 – a summer release for the MacBook Pro 2019 made sense. We must consider that, after Intel announced the 10nm Ice Lake chips at CES 2019 for a late 2019 release date, and Apple's macOS Catalina is set for a fall release – not to mention the fact that it just gave the 15-inch model a 9th-gen refresh and the 13-inch model an 8th-gen and Touch Bar refresh. With these two factors in mind, we could see Apple released the MacBook Pro somewhere around then to take advantage of the new tech and operating system update immediately. The possibility of a redesigned MacBook Pro in 2019 is shaky still, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. We'll be keeping a close eye on Apple's forgone iPhone event in September – if not, we could be looking at an October or even November launch of this 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Image Credit: TechRadar MacBook Pro 2019 price Just the fact that Apple has refreshed its non-Touch Bar MacBook Pros this July 2019 to boast a higher processor, a better keyboard, and the Touch Bar and Touch ID features says a lot about the direction in which they’re going. The worst part of the 2019 models is the fact that you need to spend thousands of dollars to secure the highest amount of RAM (the 32GB RAM option is only available to the 15-inch models) and the largest SSD combo. Otherwise, you’re stuck with the smallest amount of RAM and a Touch Bar that isn’t even universally compatible. You can also forget about upgrading your 13-inch. The majority of its parts are soldered, so you’ll be forced to bring in a professional and break your warranty. You also may have to buy a third-party docking station since the only ports available to you are the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports and a headphone jack. Of course, it’s hard to predict these things, but you’ll probably see more of the same price tags. Currently, the base model of a 13-inch MacBook Pro gets you an 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory, 128GB SSD storage and the integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645. The good news is that this entry-level 13-inch model sticks with the same price tag at $1,299 (£1,299, AU$1,999), despite its recent upgrades. As far as the 15-inch’s 9th gen Intel Core i9 configurations, which currently start at $2,399 (£2,399, A$3,499), we’d like to keep its price while still getting its design refresh. A Chinese technology site has recently reported the 16-inch MacBook Pro to start around $3,000 (about £2,450, AU$4,350). Later, analyst Ming Chi-Kuo reported improvements to the keyboard with a new scissor-switch design. It may seem outlandish to you, but "$2,999" sounds like a fine price for Apple to go with.
Image Credit: Apple What we want to see from MacBook Pro 2019 Apple hasn’t been getting a lot of love lately, what with the great keyboard debacle of 2016 through 2019, the problematic Touch Bar and the soldered RAM, to name a few. However, we’re still hoping that Apple takes a new lease on life in 2019, and offer its loyal fans some of the things they need and not upsell them on things they don’t need. And, so far, it does look promising. More port variety, please If Apple’s going to insist on sticking with only Thunderbolt 3, at least include a docking station or an adapter for USB, Mini DisplayPort and HDMI without an additional charge. You know, instead of making us shell out more money for a third-party one. Though if we’re really being honest, limiting us to Thunderbolt 3 is inconvenient. MacBook Pro is for professionals who are looking for a seamless workflow. Yes, the Thunderbolt 3 is efficient, powerful and versatile, offering a port for charging as well as super-fast output and data transfers. But many of us are still using devices and accessories that don’t support it. If we’re expected to connect this cable to that adapter to plug into that other port, Apple cannot expect us to be happy about it. And, is it possible to bring back MagSafe charging? Some of us tend to trip over those cables, and it was nice to know that we wouldn’t damage those older models by doing so. Seeing as how Apple launched the latest MacBook Air with just two Thunderbolt 3 ports and no MagSafe charger, chances are slim that Apple is going to diversify the ports on the MacBook Pro 2019. So, what we’re really gunning for now is a docking station or an adapter out of the box. Improved Touch Bar When it comes to the new Touch Bar, it seems that Apple is standing its ground. In fact, every single current MacBook Pro model and configuration now has it. Despite grievances from many users and the fact that many others would be happier without it, Apple has completely phased out the non-Touch Bar MacBook Pros. That’s all fine and dandy, and, we admit, the technology is promising. However, if Apple is going to ask for a few hundred bucks for a new feature, we’d like to maximize its use. So far, Touch Bar compatibility is only limited to a few programs and apps, and we demand to see more added to this list if it’s here to stay. Plus, it would be nice to get it properly working sans the freezes and fat finger issues.
Image Credit: TechRadar Offer an alternative Again, the Touch Bar shows promise, but it isn’t exactly something that most users need. Not all of us are photographers or filmmakers or artists. Some use just use their MacBook Pros for productivity because of its streamlined interface and user-friendliness, and those folks – the mainstream consumers that Apple is now starting to include in their target market – don’t have a need for a Touch Bar at all. In fact, it might only get in the way and cost them extra for something they’ll hardly use. We’d like to see an option for such users. We’d like Apple to resuscitate the Touch Bar-free models, and price them cheaper than their Touch Bar counterparts. Better keyboard, display and sound Sure, Apple has refined the keyboard so that it’s quieter, but it’s still stiffer than what we’re used to, has less travel than most keyboards and still annoyingly loud. As far as ergonomics, the new keyboard isn’t the best. It’s not that we hate it, but it’s certainly harder to love. Of course, we could get used to its quirks, but we’d rather see a better one, especially since we’re already paying a lot. Better yet, Apple could bring back the old design most of us are partial to, which now seems likely. In addition, MacBook Pro designers should take cues from the iPhone X and phase out the bezel design. That’s a lot of valuable real estate wasted, and rolling out a bezel-free screen will give users a bigger display without having to sacrifice size. Additionally, by going bezel-free, it’ll give the update a fresher, more modern look. Also, a laptop designed to edit 4K media should have a 4K screen option – though, we're hearing that 3K is going to be this laptop's game. And, while Apple’s at it, we’d like to see it reconsider those speakers. We get that Apple is going for a thinner design, but the speakers in the older MacBook Pros are considerably better. With all that technology they come up with, it wouldn’t be that hard to get a premium set of speakers that are louder and have better bass. New Intel processor The MacBook Pro 2018 just got updated with Kaby Lake Refresh and Coffee Lake on the 13-inch, and with the 9th-generation chips on the 15-inch. Unfortunately, Intel has already pushed out Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake processors – putting some of the MacBook Pro configurations behind the curve, if only just barely. Whiskey Lake, after all, only provides a minimal boost to the performance that most users won’t notice. At CES 2019, however, Intel announced Ice Lake, its first round of 10nm Sunny Cove processors for laptops. These chips have already begun shipment, and we’re hoping that Apple already has plans to include these next-gen CPUs in the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019. If (and, hopefully, when) that happens, we’d like to see Apple offering both 9th-gen and 10th-gen configurations, as well as awarding one of its 13-inch model a 9th-gen Coffee Lake Refresh configuration. Binance DEX: Navigating Country-Specific Cryptocurrency Trading Restrictions/ bitcoin margin trading, bitseven, bitcoin exchange
At the start of June 2019, reports emerged that Binance DEX’s website was blocking users with IP addresses from 29 countries. This news immediately caused confusion with some commentators, using it as an opportunity to reaffirm their stance that Binance DEX is not truly a decentralized exchange (DEX). However, as it turned out, the initial reports were somewhat inaccurate, as the geoblocking only applied to Binance.org — the website for the DEX platform. Traders could still access the DEX via some supported wallet apps, bypassing the need to go through the website to reach the DEX service. Responding to the issue, Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, advocated for the use of virtual private networks (VPNs) to bypass such restrictions. However, some commentators say using VPNs increases the burden for traders who might prefer to utilize other platforms that do not come with such encumbrances. Also, there is the little matter of VPNs being against the Binance DEX terms of service (ToS). From the perspective of United States-based traders, being geoblocked from Binance.org might see them move to U.S.-regulated trading avenues, which seem to be shrinking by that day. Back in May 2019, Poloniex had to block trading for its U.S. customers on nine cryptocurrency tokens, including ardor (ARDR), augur (REP) and NXT. 29 nations geoblocked from Binance.org Traders from the U.S. and 28 other countries will, as of July 1, 2019, be unable to access the Binance DEX platform via its website — Binance.org. This restriction, according to a pop-up that appears on the website, covers users whose IP addresses are from the affected countries. With the impending restriction, Binance has advised traders in the 29 countries to consider using wallet apps that support access to the DEX without having to go through the website. These wallets include Trust Wallet, Coinomi, Atomic Wallet and the Ledger hardware wallet, to mention a few. While the company does offer alternatives to traders in the geofenced countries, it provides yet another worry for traders in jurisdictions like the U.S., where trading avenues seem to be shrinking. The lack of clarity from U.S. regulators as to whether ICO tokens are to be considered as securities means that exchanges listing such tokens might have to blacklist American traders. Already, the Poloniex exchange announced back in May 2019 that U.S. traders would no longer be able to trade nine tokens on its platform. Announcing via Twitter on June 7, 2019, Bittrex, another cryptocurrency exchange, said it would be geofencing as many 32 assets from its U.S. customer base. The Seattle-based platform also identified regulatory uncertainties in the country as the reason for its decision. Just like Bittrex, it seems Binance is also seeing the results of trying to offer services to U.S.-based traders in this current regulatory landscape. As part of its Twitter announcement, Bittrex declared: “International markets provide the greatest opportunity for growth and the lowest risk of regulatory uncertainty. We will continue to advocate for laws and regulations that foster innovation.” Despite concerted efforts from many stakeholders, the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) hasn’t loosened its strict stance on what constitutes a security with regard to cryptocurrencies. Some members of the country’s legislature are currently working on the modalities for a bill to provide an exemption for digital tokens from securities regulation. In the meantime, traders from the U.S. and all the other affected countries would have to try their hands on the suggested wallets. Some may yet switch to U.S.-regulated platforms, even if it means having fewer trading options. The other alternative for such traders is to use a VPN service to bypass IP restrictions. Even Zhao encouraged users to consider this, calling them a necessity in a tweet published on June 3, 2019: Binance DEX ToS: VPNs and the decentralization debate VPNs allow users to establish secure connections to a server, which can be useful for shielding one’s digital footprint from prying eyes. However, the most popular use case for VPNs is arguably to bypass geoblocked websites and other forms of internet censorship. Thus, it doesn’t appear out of order to consider using VPNs to circumvent such restrictions as imposed by Binance. However, there is a slight wrinkle, as the use of VPNs is prohibited in the Binance DEX ToS. Article 6.8 and 6.9 of the document under section 6, which deals with “prohibited uses,” reads: “You may not: [...] where you are a resident or national of a Prohibited Jurisdiction or a U.S. Person, access the Site or any Services using any virtual private network, proxy service, or any other third-party service, network, or product with the intent of disguising your IP address or location.” The Binance DEX document goes on to state that if the platform determines that a user has flouted such a rule, it reserve the right to address such prohibited use. So, why then would the likes of Zhao encourage the use of VPNs when they are clearly forbidden by the ToS? Cointelegraph reached out to Binance for clarification on the matter but is yet to receive any response as of press time. What happens when traders in the 29 countries who prefer to use VPNs rather than access the DEX via supported wallet apps begin doing so? Would they face any negative repercussions in the form of account suspensions or bans? Perhaps traders from the affected countries would do well to tread cautiously in this regard and maybe stick with platforms regulated in the country, or avail themselves by using one of the suggested wallet apps. Examining the ToS document also throws up some other issues, chief of which lies in article 2 — “liquidity and listing risk” under the “risk disclosure” portion. This particular portion of the ToS reads: “Markets for Digital Tokens have varying degrees of liquidity. Some are quite liquid while others may be thinner. Thin markets can amplify volatility. There is never a guarantee that there will be an active market for one to sell, buy, or trade Digital Tokens or products derived from or ancillary to them. Furthermore, any market for tokens may abruptly appear and vanish. Binance makes no representations or warranties about whether a Digital Token that may be traded on or through the Site may be traded on or through the Site any point in the future, if at all. Any Digital Token is subject to delisting without notice or consent.” The most important part from this is the final sentence, which says tokens can be “delisted without notice or consent.” Such a proviso hardly signals decentralization and calls into question the validity of the assertion that Binance DEX is truly decentralized. Presently, centralized platforms dominate the cryptocurrency exchange space. Some commentators point to the difficult user interface employed by decentralized platforms as part of the reason why they have yet to see widespread adoption. Cryptocurrency purists will, however, continue to advocate for decentralized exchanges for a number of reasons, such as their robust security and censorship resistance. A well-realized DEX network could also result in far cheaper trading than currently offered by their centralized counterparts due to the absence of any third party. One other major pain point of cryptocurrency trading is the increasing insistence on Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols by regulators in different jurisdictions, which Binance has seemingly been incorporating on its DEX platform. However, as DEX platforms usually do not support conversions to fiat currency, it should not be the case that such a proviso is relevant to their operations.
