“is it ok to like dandadan”
“can i still like dandadan even if its problematic”
“it features minors in their underwear therefore it is bad”
do you all sit in a perfectly white room eating saltines and watching bluey all day or something
nah but for real
it is ok to enjoy things you like to watch/read and engage with. there is nothing to be ashamed of in that regard. also dandadan is extremely tame and literally i feel like people blow its themes WAY out of proportion.
“there are teens in their underpants!!! or naked sometimes!!” i think this may be controversial to say but im about to blow your mind….. the fact that there are teens in their undies or even naked doesnt equate to sexualization! we arent supposed to find those scenes sexy. we are supposed to be either embarrassed for them (like the scene where okarun and momo are caught in the hallway), or its played for laughs. never is it meant to be taken in a “sexy” kind of way. like we arent really given a lot of male gaze scenes of momo or aira, and when okarun is naked/in his undergarments, its often played EXCLUSIVELY for comedic effect
i think you all are genuinely afraid to be cancelled/shunned just for liking a fictional/animated show that features partial nudity of 16-17 year olds. and that is a little sad to me! if you like the show for its storytelling and characters and whatnot, then go ahead and like it!!!!
LMAO i feel like im defending this show with my life every time i bring it up

Bro this is exactly the way I felt, I made a post asking if it was OK to like dandadan, and that's mostly because this is the first show I've watched with this kind of stuff so shamelessly shown,(and I am relatively new to anime) as well as ppl just saying that waht is shown is really icky, so I feelt like it was wrong to enjoy it, but i will NEVER EVER pull up dandadan to ogle animated tenagers in there underwear, and no other normal ppl who like the show would do that either. I think you are 100% right. And if the characters in their underwear and half naked are making you hot and bothered, you are kinda the problem 🖐💀
[It is fine if it makes you uncomfortable, everyone has a different tolerance for nudity, and you don't have to watch it!!! I just don't think ppl should feel shame for likeing it in a normal way]
This is my post

And these were some of the amazing responses I got in the comments:

Annnnnd to cap off this massive post, dandadan actually kinda has helped me become more comfortable with the human body and not viewing skin as "Oh noooOOo you can't show that! Not around MEN!" Like even around guys I'm comfortable with, but now I feel like, I don't ogle ppl's exposed bodies, and the people I am comfortable with aren't going to be creepy either, so there is not a reason to be so scared about it.
