To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Bungo Stray Dogs. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of dead authors most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Dazai's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Bungo Stray Dogs truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Dazai's existential catchphrase "Bungo Deez nutz," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Asagiri's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Bungo Stray Dogs tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

But to understand Bsd, you have to understand the concept and the reasons why the characters do and say the things they do. It’s not just some shallow plot line with one dimensional characters that have no personality or goals. Each character is unique with a sense of dynamic character that makes the characters interesting. I’ve always been picky with the fandoms that I get into and hyper-fixate on because not many today really go into such deep topics about morally grey characters, because usually in animes you have the good guys who’ve done nothing wrong and the back guys who have a tragic backstory and have always been “destined” to be evil yk? I think that’s what I like about Bsd so much because the characters feel like ACTUAL people who have flaws and make mistakes like any other human does (I can’t say this for Fyodor or the mafia because I don’t know anyone who’s blowing kids up 💀).

But yeah ^^
