The Girl in The Blue Dress
Chapter 7: Recruiting
@megatraven hehe some sweet fluff and funny fluff :).
Story Description: A girl named Rose is the kindest girl around. However, once she gets cursed, she is forced to die and live over and over again, always facing a fate that was cruel. She fell in love with a god and he fell in love with her. Will he be able to end the curse? Will he be able to ever save her from her fate? Or will their love be cursed forever?

As years passed, he landed himself upon a kingdom. He missed Earth and decided to help around in the castle. The thing he didn’t expect though, was the king being horrible. He was used to people in a town being a big family, but now he watched as people suffered and the king was horrible to the workers (including him).
He decided to help out in the kitchen and he found it quite fun. He learned how to cook many things. He was confused at first but the other worker were kind and willing to teach him. Some of them were rude and impatient, but most of them wanted to help him. And there was another thing they all had in common.
They hated the king.
Apollo truly didn’t understand how someone could be so cruel and unkind, but he assumed he was just used to Rose and the kind people he had witnessed over his years on Earth. And now it was his turn to witness the cruel and the kind people.
.
.
He was at another day of work and he was in routine. He would take orders from the other workers and begin to start on it. He would usually think about the things he was taught, but some days he only thought about Rose and the desire to find her again. Once he found out she was cursed, he felt the want to find her grow more and more. He missed Earth and wanted to live here, but he missed the person that made him love Earth again, and he promised himself that he’d find her.
As he was working, a worker beside him sighed a sigh of annoyance. It was one he did almost everytime he saw the king. It wasn’t too often, but he did see him in the hallways sometimes when he was carrying orders to people. Most of the time he wanted to punch him in the face, but he also wanted to take this food to people outside the castle.
“God, this king is annoying,” she said as she continued to gather ingredients for another order. He laughed and nodded.
“He truly is. I didn’t even know someone this cruel could exist,” he said, his tone becoming sadder.
“I know. It’s sad to live under his rule, but many people have no where else to go. Only to-”
The woman cut herself off before she could say anything else. She looked a little panicked, but shook her head and continued to cook. Apollo felt the need to ask her about it, but he didn’t want to pry. Once she was done cooking, she rubbed her forehead to get rid of the sweat, and he caught sight of something on her shoulder. It looked like a number written in black ink, but he shook his head and refused to pry (once again).
.
.
This night he was made to close up the kitchen. He let the other workers leave and made sure he was alone. He loved nights like this because he would always grab a basket and fill it with food. Vegetables, fruit, some meats, and anything he could carry with him. He wouldn’t exit the normal exit, but through the back door where no one else was. He did this not for himself, but for the kids and the starving people. He’d go to a part of a forest (where he knew some people lived) and would play his harp. It was basically a signal to let people know he was there.
Once people heard it, many of the kids and adults would come out to greet him and he’d pass out the food. They’d always thank him and he’d just smile and say that it was no problem, and it truly was. He realized how spoiled he was on Olympus and he felt guilt. Many of the gods and goddesses turned a blind eye to the world and only visited their temples, but he didn’t even want to. He just wanted to visit the humans and watch them live their lives and try to help them. Rose taught him a lot and he’d always live by what she taught him.
Once he made sure everyone got food, he’d pick up his harp again and continue playing. Many of the kids sat in front of him and would hum the songs. He would always smile and feel his heart be lifted of his worries. Just for a little while, he let the guilt and everything slip away from him. However, everytime he saw a girl with blue eyes, and long, brown hair, he always was reminded of Rose, and he almost thought it was her. However, he didn’t get that feeling like he did everytime he did find Rose, so he knew it wasn’t her. She was never far from his thoughts, and he knew he’d find her again. Well, he prayed to Aphrodite every night that he would find her.
.
.
After around 5 years of working at the castle, he began to hear some workers whispering about it.
“...Can he be trusted?”
“...I’m not sure. Maybe bring it up to him?”
Whenever he did look at them, it seemed like they were purposeful showing him their shoulders and he was right about what he saw. They had numbers on their shoulder. It was weird and he was curious but he didn’t know what to do. Well, he didn’t know what to do until one worker worked beside him in the kitchen and whispered to him.
“I know you see the numbers. I’ve wanted to ask you for awhile, but do you want to do something about the king?” The worker seemed anxious about asking him, but she looked at him with a look of desperation.
“What can we do?” Apollo knew he could do something. Hell, he was a God. He could destroy this whole town if he truly wanted, but he didn’t want to tell people that. He only wanted Rose and Melody to know. That’s it and no one else. Plus, he didn’t want to hurt people. He was the God of Music and healing, he didn’t want to bring destruction.
“There’s a woman we can go to. She’s at the tavern. You know the one right?”
He did know the one. He went to the tavern a few times and he enjoyed the company. He made some friends while being a little bit drunk and they were still his friends. He enjoyed people’s presence, but he never saw someone look like they were planning against the king.
“Should I meet someone there?”
“There’s a door in the upstairs hallway. It leads to a room of a woman that is very important. She’s trying to end the kings rule, but she needs help. We need help,” the worker smiled at him with determination and he smiled back.
Looks like a trip was in order.
.
.
When he got off of work, he went to the said tavern and was greeted with some yells from the drunk men in the corner.
“Aye, Apollo! It’s great to see you man!” One of the drunk men went up to him and gave him a drunk like hug. He hugged him back but told him he had somewhere to be. The drunk man laughed a suggestive laugh.
“Haha! Is ol’ Apollo meeting a woman tonight?”
Apollo forgot that this tavern was known for many one night stands. He felt a blush rice to his face, but he let out an awkward laugh.
“No, sir. I’m sure they’re nice women, but I’m not seeing them tonight.”
Apollo bid the man goodbye and asked one of the workers if he could go upstairs. They nodded and he went to the door down the hallway he thought was the right one. He knocked and someone opened up the door.
Someone that seemed familiar.
He was met with blue eyes and blonde hair that seemed longer than her shoulders. She only opened it a crack, so he couldn’t see the room or anything else.
“What are you here for?” The woman was whispering and even her voice sounded the same to Melody. He wanted to smile at her like he was greeting an old friend, but he knew he had to act like he never seen her before.
“The king needs to be taken down. I heard someone could do something about it?” Apollo put on a smirking face. The woman seemed a little unconvinced and worried.
“How do I know you really want to join us?”
He couldn’t blame her for being cautious. He knew the king had spied and they were good at it, so he knew why they were being careful. However, a voice called out.
“Mother! Let him in. I wanna see him.”
His heart thumped as he recognized that voice. It sounded just like Rose. He was a little surprised at how it sounded just like her but he was excited. The woman (who he assumed was Melody) sighed and opened the door and gestured for him to come in. Once he came in, a blush rushed to his face.
The girl who he assumed was Rose, had a blue little dress on. However, it had thin straps on her shoulders, her chest was exposed a little bit, and it went down to above her knees. It looked like she was going to bed and he looked like he was going to work. He stuttered but knew he had to respond.
“Hi, ma’am. O-One of the workers told me that you were thinking of about taking over the kingdom?”
The woman laughed and nodded.
“Well, I’m in the planning stages. I don’t have enough people. But what would make me think you can handle everything?”
“What are you going to do?”
“I need you to fight me, just once. If you seem worthy to me, I’ll let you join me,” she said with a smile. She seemed truly happy to have someone wanting to join her. She leaned forward, her chest becoming a little more exposed, and smiled at him. He didn’t dare look down, he didn’t want to look and seem rude and wrong, but he did notice it. They had a little bit of a staring contest for a few seconds, but she eventually nodded and sat back up straight.
“Alright. I’ll tell one of the workers to tell you what day and what time, but irs time for me an my mom to go to bed. Have a lovely night.”
Her mother tapped Apollo on his shoulder and he listened to her and left the room. Once the door was shut behind him and he was in the hallway. His face still felt flushed and he had to process what she said. He had to fight her. He was strong for a god and he didn’t like fighting. He felt anxious but that blush wouldn’t go away. He didn’t know if she was doing it on purpose or she didn’t know she was doing it. He shook his head and decided to go and get a drink.
Once he got down there, his friends were still there and he joined them. Obviously, they noticed his blushed and one elbowed him in his ribs.
“Aye! You did meet a woman!” The rest of the men around him laughed and cheered for him in a friendly way. Apollo’s blush got worse and he kept denying it. However, he just placed his forehead on the table and waited for his to drink to arrive. He wanted to pass out from a drink and not pass out from his flustered face.
But he was ready for what layed ahead of him though. He was prepared to try and save her once again.
