Gamefreak: Alright so for Arven's character we're gonna reveal that one of his parents walked out on him shortly after his birth and the other parent, while loving him as evidenced by some journal entries and pictures, is so focused on their work and bringing their dream paradise to fruition that they've left him alone on numerous occasions to the point that Arven has no memory of that parent ever playing with him. Arven has been alone for a while now, essentially abandoned, after his parent goes completely no contact with him. He is understandably hurt and angry at that parent, and also at the box legendary who he feels stole his parent from him. Not to mention he's all alone while dealing with his partner Pokemon and only family left slowly dying from injuries received after Arven tried to look for his parent once. Turns out that parent is gonna be revealed as DEAD, having gotten killed trying to protect the box legendary, and their AI counterpart needs you to stop the time machine the original professor created because they were so obsessed they didn't care about the consequences to the ecosystem. And to top it all off, said AI version of the professor has to be permanently sent to another time in order to truly shut down the time machine, which means Arven basically just learned his parent is dead and now more or less has to watch their second death, leaving him an orphan at the end of the game!

Like holy fuck Gamefreak really did NOT let up on Arven for this story. Really said "let's just shatter his whole world :)" with no hesitation. Genuinely would not be surprised is Arven was extra clingy with the MC following all this since MC is the only other person Arven seems especially close with...

it just didnt dawn on me how fucked up his life is??? he really was on his own aa a kid n didnt even know his mom fcking Died. he was under the impression that the mom neglects him n even when he meets the AI to hear the words of his dead mother and See a robot version of his mother disappear never to be seen again..............a 17 year old should not feel this way

how arven is able to keep a sane mind and emotion is just questionable. yes i know its pokemon yes its a kids game but to see such content on the game when i had such low expectations of the plot is just something. damn
