Superman's Dishcloth
A small cute headcannon thats been sitting on my tablet?
Summary: some people use pick up lines to get a womans number, henry uses a crochet lesson.
Warnings: Fluff?
Tumblr media
Your fingers twisted the yarn around the hook automatically looping and pulling untill you made another double crochet stitch that the pattern required.
To be honest you wasnt paying that much attention as you worked your project, which was stupid really because you were making a new pattern, a bobble popcorn style head band.
You couldnt concentrate for two reasons
One. You were on a goddamned plane soaring across the Atlantic ocean. And if things went tits up you cant swim.
And two? You were seated next to none oher then mr henry cavill himself.
Not that you made a thing about it or even dared to look at him.
He he was watching you, eyes frowning as your fingers twisted the yarn into an intricate looking yet fairly simple pattern.
Youhad to stifle a laugh as his fingers twitched tryig to follow the moves and figure out what you were doing.
You growled missing count again. One, two, three three, skip three. A crochet, half double crochet, two double crochet in one stitch then skip three stitches and repeat untill the end.
Normally youd have no problems but your audience was putting you off.
You dropped the project in your lap as you miscounted again and realised you had to undo the last twelve stitches otherwise you'd be a set out on the end.
You closed your eyes grunting before slipping the hook out and began to tug the working yarn slowly before pinching it and slipping the hook into the loop catching it before it all unraveled.
"Why'd you undo it?" You jumped a little as the huge man beside you spoke up after watching you quietly since take off.
"Huh?... oh i misscounted i skipped four instead of three so it'd be out of line on the end and curl round..."
"How'd you know?" He frowned now leaning over even more curious then before.
You chewed your lip trying not to freak out as he peered over your little project.
"Err well i just counted the stiches i had left on the row, see i was up to here and there was five left not six, so i pulled it taught to spot the odd one out" you explained pulling more yarn through so you could point out the stitches to him with the hook.
"It looks complicated, you twist it so many times?" He said as your fingers began moving once more creating the repetitive pattern.
"Yeah... its not too difficult, Im doing a few different stitches is all, once you know a single crochet stitch and a chain stitch your good to go" You muttered with a smile.
"I doubt its that simple" he replied trying to keep up with watching your fingers guiding the hook jthought the piece making the fabric grow.
"It really is, here you see the little v on top?" You said slowing deciding to show him just how simple it was.
"Yeah?" He hummed quietly watching keenly.
"Thats the row before, so you slip your hook under both strands like this and loop your yarn over then pull through under that v so you have one loop on your hook" you said moving slowly and loosened the stitch with a light wiggle so he could see properly.
"Then loop the yarn over again so you have two loops, and pull the second one through the first... and thats a single crochet stitch" You explained showing him slowly.
"So you make lots of tiny loops and pull them through one another and it some how becomes fabric?" He asked fascinated by it, watching as you began to work on the next stitch.
"Yeah pretty much"
"But that one you pulled the wool over before you did anything at all?" You paused impressed he had noticed the slight difference... he had been watchkn that closely?
"So that was a half double, when you do a half double or double you yarn over first, then you just keep yarning over and pulling through until your left with one loop on the hook" you tried explaining as simply as you could.
"... it still sounds hard" he uttered still focusing on your hands that had been creating stitches.
"Honestly its not, i taught myself in about an hour and a half? Here try it? I've got extra yarn in my carry on if you want to give it a go?" You offered and instantly flushed you did not just offer to teach superman how to crochet like a fucking granny!
Before you could take it back and apologise he beamed.
"Really? That would be fun, i've never tried anything like this before" he said eagerly.
"Err yeah sure lemme just get you started, i'll give you a 5 hook... here" you said surprized digging about pulling the small ergonomic crochet hook out and some mustard yellow yarn.
"So you start with a slipknot... and then a few chain stitches" you began guiding him through it slowly teaching him the steps.
"So do you always crochet on long flights?" He asked pokeing his tongue out as he tried concentrating on the stitches he was doing.
"Yeah, im not good with confined spaces... especially confide spaces that are a good few miles in the air over the open ocean" you chuckled nervously chaining a stitch then turning begining your next row.
"Honestly im not either, usually i have kal- my dog but... not this time... this is good though, its helping take my mind off it thank you" he said sincerly.
"Dont mention it"
"Oh... i think ive done it wrong?" He said andnheld it out to you, you prodded it and to be honest you were impressed, it was neat, not a dropped stitch in sight... just a few loose stitches here and there, but he was finding a good tension.
"No, thats not wrong... just your tension thats all it comes with practice" you said handing it back to him.
"Tension?" He said making you pause. Oh yeah, he wouldnt knpw what that is yet.
"Yeah, how tight you hold the yarn and hook determies how tight your stitches are... mines pretty bad, i have to always use a size bigger hook" you expalined simply
"Really?"
"Yep, i do it too tight- even snapped a metal hook in my hand before" you chuckled remebering the way the hook had just... snapped mid project.
"Wow that sounds painfull?" He huffed eeingnyour hand curiously as if expecting you to snap a hook then and there.
"Yeah, i will admit i was frustrated with the project so it probably didnt help" you chuckled sheepishly.
"Frustrated? Was it complicated like that one?" He asked nodding to your growing head band.
"No, i kept loosing count on a pattern of 78 stitches" you said trying to wave it off but in actual fact that project had been murder.
"So what are you making?" He finally asked eyeingnyour work that had grown wider.
"A little headband, and hopefully i will widen it at the ears to keep em warm" you giggled wrapping it around pinchingnthe ends together proudly presenting it to him.
He grinned and looked down at his little square fiddling with it.
"And im making a... mess?" He laughed holding up the uneven square cheeks tinted pink when you giggled again.
"... Dishcloth?" You offered prodding it gently.
"Perfect, im making a dishcloth!" He bellowed nodding proud of his new diy dish cloth.
"I'm henry by the way. But from the way you were shaking in your seat im guessing you knew?" He finally introduced himself holding out a hand.
You smiled shyly and took it shakingnhands trying not to fawn over how huge hot and soft the palm was.
"Yeah... sorry i was nervous and you probably dont want to be bugged. Im y/n" you tried explaining nervously but he chuckled.
"I wouldnt mind being bugged by such a cutie~" he uttered quietly smirking at you tipping his head down a little too make sure you heard him despite his voice being quiet.
"Oh stop it" you flushed quickly looking down at your headband noticing your stitches werent as even as they could have been, but it couldnt be helped you had handsome distraction.
A very distracting handsome distraction.
"Its true. Besides i think it was me bugging you... and i have managed to plunder through your wool" he grinned sheepishly holding up his little dishcloth.
"Its fine, it not expensive, this is left over yarn from other projects" you waved him off. It was true ou had lots of odd ends and half skeins of woll from other projects.
"Well still i appreciate it, i hate flying" he said sincerly.
"Well now you have something to practice. Youll leave the plane with a new skill to stick on your cv" you added with a grin nudging him playfully.
"Indeed... And perhaps i can leave the p,ane with err...maybe your number to? You know to replace the wool and erm swap err instructions?" He said nervously jumbling his words.
You paused and looked at him shocked blinking. Did he just?
You blinked again watching as his face grew red and he chuckled nerously plucking at the woll on his dishcloth.
"Well i suppose every student needs to be able to contact theor teacher~ and these instructions are called patterns" you smiled to him nodding slowly.
"Right right i knew that of course they're patterns" he chuckled grinning ear to ear relived you hadnt turned him down.
"Well we have a good few hours, perhaps a few more lessons for my little student?" You teased picking up the pattern to show him some of the abbreviations. Mostly to try and concentrate on somthing other then the fact superman had just asked for your number... and was taking crochet lessons.
"Of course" he said excited eyes glittering with glee whilst looking at the small page.

Headcanons for your respective favorite and least favorite SWSH characters, please.
You got it!
Hop
He. Does. Crochet. You cannot convince me other wise.
He learned from his grandma
He 100% made little booties his Wooloo
He has tried to do knitting, but prefers crochet.
Before going off on the gym challenge, he would make tons crochet dishcloth( or anything that's hand-sized) for Leon and send them.
His mom had to make him stop cause he was using up all the yarn :/
And yes, Leon keeps all of them. They're each based off one of Leon's battles!
This one is really self-indulgent, cause it features an Oc, but I feel like Hop would have made a crochet beanie for Naomi at some point.
Last one about crochet: I want Bede and Hop to become friends, and besides sitting down and talking to each other, Hop teaches Bede how to crochet ( Opal probably taught him how to knit tho).
Neither of them will admit it out loud but they did enjoy they're time together.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Hop makes the BEST pancakes.
Leon could never 😌
He studied abroad in Alola as a professors assistant.
In my universe, he got Zamezenta, and as all good doggos do, he loves getting belly rubs and head pats from Hop.
Bi Icon Hop
He likes to go on jogs with Kabu when he's not busy :)
Oh! And before I forget, Hop and Marnie like to hang out together. It's a shame they didn't appear together often, but they would most definitely give together.
Okay. The twins that aren't my oc's. Ugh.
Sordward and Shielbert ( grouping these two together cause it just makes sense)
They exist
I always had the hunch that Shieldbert was the more rational of the two
Given how they claim to be descendants of the two princes, I feel like they would mention that in everything they do
They do care about each other. They're brothers after all.
Not many people like them. They're personalities aren't the best, especially they're "Holier than thou" attitude.
They would have made interesting main villains in the main plotline, I'll give them that .
Sorry, these two are my least favorite, but like..... bottom of the barrel least favorite. Not even a favorite. To end things on a more positive note, I'm gonna do some for Bea, cause she doesn't get enough love
Bea
She's Allister's big sis!
Whether that's literal or a term that the two use is up in the air
She's very protective of him
Will plummet anyone who harms him
Well, no, first she would give them a stern talking to cause that's more consistent to Bea's character.
She's more of a speak first, action later. Ironically.
She's a big advocate for mental health!
I feel like her parents did want the best for her, but pushed her incredibly too far.
Causing her to focus so much on training to be stronger than her own health.
Fortunately the League has people like Kabu to help her understand that balance between getting stronger and taking time for yourself.
Not saying that she doesn't push herself to much, she very much does. But she recognizes it now, and knows what to do to relax.
Like baking! :3
Yeah she bakes. Preferable sweets.
Though very few people know.
She also just spend time with her school friends, which always brings a smile to her face( when not in the public eye)
She's always open to learn new sports!
And lastly, Kabu is very much a father/ grandpa figure for her. Though to be fair, he's like that to everyone in the league, but still. It needs to be said.
And that's it! At least the ones at the top of my head. Sorry for the Sordward and Shielbert ones. But I do hope you enjoy!!!!

amigurumi is the japanese art of knitting or crocheting stuffed animals! so if yamaguchi learns amigurumi...does that make it yamagurumi? hahahahahaha i’ll see myself out
Tadashi Yamaguchi was proud of himself. For once, he was able to look at something he did and smile with satisfaction. Yes, I did that.
As he grew older and more experienced, namely in volleyball, his self esteem got stronger. However, there were still things he felt horrifically unprepared to handle. He supposed these things took time and practice and effort, and he was willing to take the time, to practice, and to put in the effort.
But what he was able to do with a crochet hook and yarn… that was a different story.
Nervous energy flowed through Tadashi’s body nonstop. If he wasn’t shaking his leg, he was tapping his foot. Not tapping his foot? Then he was doodling in the margins of his paper. He was clicking a pen. He was drumming his fingers on the table.
But these different movements distracted other people, and he knew that any kind of fidget toys could be just as distracting. His frustration mounted; he needed to find something to get rid of the anxious energy, to concentrate on.
And on a whim, he found crochet. He found a video on youtube, and immediately found the hand movements soothing to his eyes. Quickly, he found more videos and soon was searching Instagram for crochet artists so he could see more appealing work. The colors and textures were fascinating. And oh, the cute things you could make! He was hooked.
It wasn’t long after that he took a trip to the craft store (a nervous trip, because he wondered how odd this looked, a teenage boy looking at yarn). He had a slight idea of where to start. He picked a nice colored acrylic yarn- it was orange, like Nishinoya’s jersey- and read the label. This yarn was suggested to be used with a size I hook. He quickly found the corresponding hook further down the aisle, selecting a pink one because he liked the color.
The walk to the counter seemed to take an eternity. Everyone was staring at him, he was sure. Nervously, he placed his hook and yarn on the counter, where an older, grandmotherly woman smiled at him. She could sense his unease, it seemed, and her smile certainly calmed him just a little.
“Ooo,” she cooed appreciatively at the yarn as she scanned it. She held it up and admired it. “This is a very nice color. A good choice.”
Yamaguchi felt the knot in his chest loosen. He smiled at her, a little timid. “It reminds me of Kurasano’s volleyball jerseys,” he explained. “I go there.”
“Oh you do?” She said with a kind, warm smile. “This looks just like it. Very spirited.”
She scanned the crochet hook as well. She told him his total, and she paid her. As she gave his change and collected his receipt, she slid a few small papers into his bag. When Tadashi curiously tilted his head at her, she smiled again, that same comforting, warm smile.
“Free patterns,” she explained with a wink. “Just in case.”
It didn’t take long. Soon, his first dishcloth was finished. It was a little bumpy, pretty lumpy, and not really that pretty. But it didn’t matter- Tadashi made it. He crocheted it. With a hook and some yarn and his own two hands. The second dishcloth he made came together much quicker. It was smoother… looked a little tighter, a little less lumpy. His next practice cloths improved as well, and soon, he made a scarf. And then he made hand-warmers (he crocheted a square, and then sewed two of the ends together, skipping a few stitches to leave room for the wearer’s thumb. They fit really nicely.
Finally, he had an outlet for those nervous jitters and he was making some pretty nice things, too. He was excited to show Tsukishima, his boyfriend, but he was equally nervous about it, too. He was worried the blond would think crochet was uncool… but he decided, after a lot of thinking and worrying about it, that he, Tadashi, was proud of what he was making and he thought it was really damn cool. Anyone else’s opinion didn’t hold as much weight…
But he still hoped Tsukki thought it was cool.
One of the good things about Tsukki was that walking to school was often done in comfortable silence. There was no need for forced chit-chat, and they both knew that. However, on that one bright, chilly, early-spring morning, Tadashi found the silence a bit unnerving.
“I took up a new hobby,” he blurted, abrupt.
Tsukki, who had been thinking about a podcast he’d been listening to last night, blinked, taking a moment to absorb the other’s words.
“Oh?” he said, quirking his brow and glancing at the other.
“Yeah,” Tadashii replied, swallowing hard. He knew by Tsukki’s reaction that he was definitely interested in what it was. “Crochet.”
Silence for a moment.
“Is that the one with yarn and the little...hooked needles?” Tsukki asked, and upon seeing his boyfriend’s nod, he followed up, “Have you made anything yet?”
Tadashii knew he’d ask that. That’s why he had his very best dishcloth in his pocket. It wasn’t in that original orange color- that skein of yarn was mostly gone. This cloth was done in a pretty, variegated blue yarn. Tadashi thought it was soothing, which is why he bought it.
“Yeah,” he said, pulling the dishcloth out to show him.
Tsukki looked at the cloth and held it in his hands. He examined it, gently pulled on it, seeing the stitches stretch just the slightest. It looked...really intricate, he thought. Something that clearly took practice… Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the other watching him with rapt attention.
A small smile tugged on Tsukki’s lips. If Tadashi hadn’t been on the receiving end of many of those sweet, little, private smiles… he would have missed it.
“This looks really good,” he said, turning to Tadashii. “You did well. It’s cool.”
Tadashii didn’t stop blushing until lunchtime.
Much like his initial interest in crochet, a new idea sprouted in his brain. It grew and grew and grew until it was something he couldn’t stop thinking about. When it became too much to bear, he searched youtube and found plenty of helpful tutorials. It took him the span of a weekend, and three practice runs of different patterns, before he settled on one that worked; before he finally finished Tsukki’s gift.
Another quiet morning, another comfortable walk to school. Tadashi’s clammy hand held the tiny stuffed animal in his pocket. He could feel his pulse thrum through his fingers.
“Hey...uh-- Tsukki?” He said, his voice sounding trembly and nervous.
Tsukishima, who was yet again, thinking about a podcast, glanced at the other, expectant.
“Yeah?” He said after a moment, upon realizing that Tadashi was staring at the sidewalk.
Without doing much thinking, Tadashi grabbed Tsukki’s hand and deposited the stuffed animal into it.
A little squished but otherwise unscathed, a cartoonish green t-rex sat in Tsukki’s palm.
Tadashi’s lips were wiggly as he stared at the ground. His heart pounded in his chest. He didn’t see how Tsukki softened so immensely… how he relaxed… how he smiled.
But he did see his eyes- he saw them when Tsukki hooked a gentle thumb underneath his chin and gazed down at him. He saw how warm they were...how touched. But he didn’t see them for very long, because Tsukki leaned down and kissed him, and Tadashi closed his eyes and felt like he was flying.

This is Super Important...
*bashes through my newly repaired closet door which has been bashed through many times before* WHAT UP BITCHES I’M QUEER AS FUCK!!
It’s National Coming Out Day and although I’m pretty sure you all know how queer I am I’d still like to do a little re-introduction to all of you and today is a good day for it, and because I’m a nerd Imma do it like I do my D&D character pages. Here we go:
Name: Zeta
Nickname(s): ZZ, Z, there’s more but these are the ones I use here
Age: 19
Gender: Genderfluid and lately I’ve mostly just been in a nebulous state of like “yeah I’ve got a gender just give me a sec *rifles through pockets of my jeans* no really I know it’s here somewhere *searches jacket pockets* just a sec *checks my purse, finds some lip balm, a rainbow flag, and a stuffed tarantula* Okay so yeah I dunno what it is today, I think I left it in my other pants, just pick some pronouns ta use for me today, whatever is fine”
Sexual Orientation: Partially sex repulsed Demisexual Panromantic and I’ll include Polyamorous here too cause that’s a thing that I am
Race: I’m fifty shades of white but I totally wish I could be either an elf, a halfling, a day walking vampire, or a water spirit of some kind
Class: Pirate/ Witch/ Annoying feminist nerd/ Artist
Height: Just under 5′7″ on a good day
Weight: Sitting at a solid 200-205lbs
Eye Color: Hazel-green
Hair Color/Cut: Dyed bright red/ one side shaved, undercut all the way around, rockin the emo fringe on top
Abilities: Is ADHD an ability? Cause I think it should be....at the very least hyperfocus should be considered an ability....
Special Talents: I can work my computer with my feet, like I can type pretty accurately, work my track pad or a mouse, play solitaire, all with my feet. I can also easily read backwards and upside down and write upside down and backwards pretty well too. Oh and I can fall asleep anywhere if I’m sleepy or just really calm (Notable examples: On a roller coaster, while standing up, while on the ground after I fell over cause I fell asleep standing up, upside down, two feet away from a speaker playing aggressively loud death metal, etc)
Other Stuff: I’m loud by accident cause I have no volume control and I talk really fast and I end up slurring my words together really often which is annoying but most of the people close ta me are good at understanding me by now so I don’t have ta constantly repeat myself because my words came out mushed together, I also stutter and stumble over words a lot because my brain and my mouth run at different speeds and I fucking hate it because it makes me feel stupid when it takes me three minutes ta say two words cause I couldn’t get them ta come out right. Oh and don’t get me started on not understanding what people say ta me until they repeat themselves like five times because sometimes I just don’t process auditory stuff very fast. I’m learning sign language (ASL by the way if you wanna know which type I;m learning) so far I can finger spell super fucking fast and I often ramble with my hands (I also know how ta say “Please go away” “can you not” “please feed me”and “I need an alcoholic drink” because yes there’s a specific sign for alcoholic drinks over non-alcoholic drinks, I can say more stuff but those are my favorites) it’s hard ta learn but I really like it so I keep trying.
Relationship Status: Currently dating a huge nerd boy whom I like very much and just so you know just because I’m dating a guy right now it doesn’t erase my Pan-ness and if you think it does you can fucking fight me and also yes Ace people can date, we can even have sex if we want to, we can fall in love too just so ya know *finger guns*
Daily Gear: Ipod and earbuds because music doth sooth the savage beast (aka: music helps regulate my mood, block out other sound when I get overloaded, eases my anxiety, helps me focus, and keeps me from going homicidal), cellphone, battery bank and cord for ipod cause it’s old and dies a lot, six rings (three for each hand: three silver, three stainless steel cause I’m allergic to pretty much all other metals), one metal tablet rune necklace with the Nordic rune for warrior/sword on it from my aunty, one digital watch because I have trouble reading analog and my digital one lights up, one bracelet made from a skinny black shoelace, one bracelet that’s actually a cats cradle string wrapped around my wrist which is good for fidgeting, one bracelet made of lava rock beads with the chakra colors on six of the stones (my mom bought it for me at her last craft show cause she thought it might help me feel more grounded, it does), comfy worn in jeans (almost always), hoodie (currently my boyfriends hoodie), wallet, lip balms of various flavors (my mint eos one is my current fave).
Random Trivia: My favorite color is blue (almost any shade of blue but midnight black-blue with silver flecks like stars is the best), I own a bearded dragon named Seto Zuko Kaiba and he’s a total dicklizard but I love him, I love Monster High dolls, I do horror/FX makeup in my free time and plan on going ta school for it soon because I love it so much, I do swear filled dirty embroidery whenever possible as well as pride embroidery (for the queer community and also for feminism stuff) and I plan on selling it at craft shows under the name “Queer as Stitch Embroidery”, I crochet dishcloths when I get stressed, I’m a reformed nail chewer and I’m going on six months of not chewing after nearly 16 years of chewing my nails down ta nothing, I’d kill a man for garlic bread and lasagna as well as for apple crumble, I love Halloween more than any other time of year.
Alright so that’s my little reintroduction to you guys cause a lot has changed in the years since I started this blog and things are still changing and I like ta keep you guys updated on who I am and how I feel as well as keep a sort of log of my progress over the years for me ta look back on ta see how much I’ve grown. Today seemed like a good day ta do this since it’s National Coming Out Day and being queer is a really big part of who I am and it means a lot at me to be true to myself and even though coming out fucked up some stuff in my life I’d never take it back, I am out and loud and proud and if someone doesn’t like it they can shove a cactus up their ass cause I’m gonna be myself and love who I love, however many I want to love, until I die. And even then my ghost will be queer as fuck too.
Now to all my fellow LGBTQA+ peeps out there, out of the closet or not: I love you all, you are valid, you do matter, and you do belong here and anybody who says different is a piss weasel and doesn’t deserve your awesmazing presence in their life.
And now for a little change (or big change in a way I guess), as the oldest of my followers know I’ve been signing off every post on my blog with “Back to your insanity” pretty much since I started this blog and now it feels like it’s time for a change, so my dear Twisters:
Back to your own world
Signed your queer and crazy blog owner
~ZZ
(P.s. I might change my sign off around some more before I settle on one and might not, we’ll just wait and see)
