by popular demand, here is my oc chatter regarding stuff like relationships n random character traits. its rly long oops but i divided it by character at least lmao,, these are all things that i think id also wanna use if i ever use these characters as humans (which i def will at some point honestly)
- i thinkkkk i want toad and pike to date. toad would come across pike in their lagoon one day while hes wandering around on another wonked exploration and pike is like hey lol :B with their pointy teeth and long ass hair and toad is like :0 he just sits and talks with pike for hours and comes by a few times a week to hang out with them. they fall in LOVE
- fred and lani are def gonna date too. two butches who use he/him pronouns fuck yeah? they have a powerful relationship. mega BDE. power couple. not a lot of pda but alone together theyre both very loving and tender, its a vulnerability thing for both of them. like lani is very cool and can be either stoic or borderline obnoxious while fred is punkish. fred is very head over heels for lani tho
- mardi n berg.....complicated....i gotta figure out how they actually end up together. berg is a jogger and mardi is a piercer/tattoo artist so that doesnt....make them line up very much in that department. ill think about it more and figure something out. itll probably have something to do with berg’s nose stripes and eye rings
- also side note on mardi......i want his backstory to include a grey period set off by his brother being eaten when they were both young at the troll tree. like he becomes angry and depressed, sorta like branch, his tattoos that he gives himself the only color on his body, until he learns to let go and his colors come back (high key this was inspired by 21 savage, mardi’s voice claim, and the line in his new song A Lot “my brother lost his life and it turned me to a beast”). ill develop this idea further but i just wanted to get it written down
- bismuth.......unsure. they had a crush on pepper and kept trying to ask her out until she came out to them as a lesbian, then they were like :’) but theyre ride or die theyre not gonna be an ass to her because they cant date her. they just care a lot about her. its like icarly
- gazpacho and jupiter CUTE two small trans trolls in That Love. i need to develop them more but. theyre just cute
- talia is still a little too new for me to develop her......but im thinkin about it...
- kinda same with ernie and olive. they kinda mostly just exist as cute babby characters right now? if anything olive is a trouble maker and ernie is a chatterbox
- clem and thursday also fuckin cute as hell......clem was a nervous wreck asking thursday out but theyve been together like ever since, which is more than a few years. they have a rly cute gentle lovey dovey relationship. thursday is usually hanging around up on her gf’s shoulder giving her kisses on the cheek
- bea and crystal.......adorabl relationship......crystal is another character thats kinda nervous but bea is so chill n confident is helps calm her down. theyre both trans and love the hell out of each other. rly slow n steady relationship, bea is very patient
- pj and marcus!!!! dumb mlm rep relationship. pj is so so gay for marcus he can barely comprehend it. its a dumb ego boost for marcus but hes also very in love with pj, he just expresses it in a weird cocky way idk marcus is a nerd. i need to make more content for them i think about these two way more than it seems
- dwight!! he has a boat. he lives on the boat.....ive thought about maybe pairing him with toad and pike. deciding on his voice claim has been the most difficult thing ever
- kass and current HELL yeah buff gf and tol gf......they spar with swords and wrestle for fun and hang out at the beach a lot. kass fuckin loves the gem on current’s back. i gotta make more content for them
- celia......i wanna do more with celia. friends with berg probs theyre both sporty. shes just a sweet giant troll who loves mushrooms. i gotta pair her with someone whose palette goes nicely with her pastels
- carrot and harriet are literally cricket and tilly from big city greens just older. yeehaw siblings. havent thought about relationship stuff with harriet yet.....i think she also needs ANOTHER redesign her colors are just too heavy still. maybe if i can make her colors compliment celia’s that could work as a pairing? hm hm.....carrot tho is dating ford’s oc rye theyre gentle country gays
- rainer. hm. i dont think theyre rly the dating type......theyre just chill with being them. they just wanna swim and be funny
- hammond and andromeda are probs two of my least developed characters.....hammond still needs a redesign. he might be cute to pair with walter, theyre around the same age. andromeda tho i have no idea. she might be a nice pairing with eve? if i ever feel like pairing her with someone...who knows. eve is very carefree and might find andromeda’s energy too intense
- radish i wanna make more content for!! i rly like her a lot....i think shes another troll who isnt interested in dating. shes very focused on being a chef instead. loves her friends a lot!
- mack and pepper 2gether 4ever obvs......they have a relationship that gets richer with age for sure
- im just gonna ramble about mack. i thinkkkkkkk i wanna make her half latina? columbian specifically. she doesnt quite read as white and i didnt make her with the intention of making her white. anyway i love mack a whole lot and should really develop her backstory more. its not rly as like...””tragic”” or whatever as pepper’s i know that but she def has layers. i wanna give her whole family more depth. she has a very complicated relationship with her own feelings and motivations that i need to think about more fully. my powerful femme tho i lov her
- mack’s parents, robin and champagne, i need to like....think about them more. they have kinda a comedic relationship thats sorta inspired by roger rabbit and jessica rabbit. robin is a very caring, gentle troll who’s very smart and cares a lot about his nursing responsibilities in the village. champagne is very relaxed and the “voice of reason” character of the family. she loves a good party and has her party planning down to a science. both are very successful power parents. kickass family
- i already talked about topaz and marney in a separate post but i still love them both so much. big wesbiabs
- pepper....pebber. im gonna talk about her the most obviously gfhjdkrs i wanna talk about her mental health i feel like i think about it a lot but i never write about it explicitly? this is gonna be long oops hgjfksd she has depression and ptsd stemming from the trauma of her crash...im thinking she also has adhd and thats just something shes always had. her depression rly got heavy during her recovery and right after like...she hated being bed/housebound and felt rly powerless to her situation and just let it eat at her until her personality had actually changed considerably. like extroverted wild child rebel to introverted, soft-spoken sulker. this got better with time but she still is pretty introverted, just turned her moodiness into chill energy.
- she has bad depression habits like letting dishes, old food, laundry, or just stuff pile up in her room until it gets overwhelming and she spends like two days just manically cleaning; or staying in bed for way longer than she should and messing with her hygiene; or eating way more or way less than she should eat in a day. just stuff thats hard to completely break out of when youre recovering. her color is pretty consistently the dark red but if shes having a particularly rough day she might look a little paler, or like a muddy brick color at her worst. thats kinda rare tho
- her ptsd is the thing she hates the most. for a while it made her feel very weak and she’d beat herself up over being traumatized by the crash which was obviously not helpful to her mental state but she was really all over the place during her bodily recovery. its part of the reason why she started working out, she wanted to reclaim some sort of feeling of strength and power that she felt she’d lost completely. she still gets really frustrated with this feeling of loss but she gets a lot of support from loved ones which has helped her not self-blame so much. her ptsd manifests mostly as nightmares/insomnia, chronic headaches/stomachaches, intrusive thoughts and sometimes flashbacks. the nightmares are what rly get to her, she really doesnt get a lot of good sleep and it can get to the point where she just doesnt want to sleep sometimes and she’ll stay awake until she crashes hard
- her scars used to be a big trigger for her ptsd, which is why she has her bangs covering the one on her face and wears long pants (her knee braces are too bulky for pants and would force her to wear shorts which would force her to expose her scars). she just. really really hates them. this is something she struggles with for a majority of her life
- once she and mack start going steady with their dating and start consistently sleeping in the same bed, pepper starts to sleep better. she still has nightmares that wake her up at least weekly, but having mack there to comfort her (whether she wakes mack up accidentally or if mack is already awake) helps a TON with getting her back to sleep soundly. it also just helps her sleep in general to have that comforting, loving presence in her bed snuggled up to her ;w; mack is a big help in general with pepper’s mental health, pushing pepper to make better, healthier choices and get out in the village more and have fun. mack for sure does not “”cure”” pepper of anything but shes a very positive light in pepper’s life that helps her pull thru tough times!
- i love all my goofy trolls so much. its so fun to just chill and blab about them to relax between working on big projects ;o; ty if u cared enough to read this whole thing ur so rad
#writing about my hooligan troll ocs is so relaxing#like im not overly invested its just something fun to think about and thats just very nice#txt#oc#oc rambles#ill tag it as that so i dont lose this#trolls#long post

haha honestly I love your little dialogues. You, like, single-handedly show that murder is funny (like black comedies are funny). I am this tempted to take that scene between Jason and Dick and make it into a fic (but I know I couldn't bc I don't have a sense of humor). And Damian and Talia part feels like it's from a self-aware musical if it makes sense.
Yeah! "Perfect" characters are boring and problematic actually. It's like the modern portrayal of Batman. He does so much questionable shit and is treated by the narrative as a hero without any blemishes on his consciousness. And when fandom writers try to do the same with Jason? Weak sauce.
(cue me fervently trying to remember all shit I wrote in case that's what I did, too; I wouldn't put it past myself, to be honest, because there're two wolves living in me. one wolf is "Jason is a person with his strengths and weaknesses and treating him as all good or all bad is reductive af", and the second is "Jason is a blorbo from my shows; he didn't do anything wrong, ever, because I love him". I might not even do it intentionally. I have this short fic where Jason takes over Gotham after the Cataclysm and I named it "rules for rulers" which is taken from youtube video that is very forthcoming about the myth of a benevolent dictator (first 6 minutes; it also dissects democracies and revolutions but it's less relevant here) and how unrealistic it is; and i can't tell from the comments if people get that if I'm writing any more in this universe, Jason is going to be the main villain. Or if they do and that's what they also are after)
Tbh I'm yet to read the Black Lighting/Outsiders story. I will get there eventually. But I'm rather charmed by the idea that Dick can honestly wish Jason's death. It's so contrasting with almost default "uwu his my brother i wanted to kill joker for him" which is. a take. I don't really see it in comics, sorry. They might be on speaking terms with Rebirth, and I still don't see it.
I never claimed that my personal preferences are not, in at least some small way, reactive to fandom as a whole or some part of it. (another example, basically half of my motivation in writing brujay fics is the existence of antis). And I know some people are like - you can't base your stuff on fanon or fandom, it's bad! But it is what it is. I am in fandom. I don't exist in a vacuum. If you can be in a fandom environment and never let it influence you in any way, good for you!
Yeah, my jaysteph heart is rather it would be her getting it even if not approving it, and I do think you can go either way with her, based on what do you have in mind. But if for the purpose of a story you need her to be firmly against Jason, that's a good motivation as any. Like, I was thinking in terms of Jason killing for any Bat from the last ask - would Steph react badly to Jason killing Black Mask? Could have. He could have shot Roman non-fatally, for example, unless it was a tricky angle and he literally couldn't have. But if he could, and didn't... Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, I do get what you mean about Bruce and murder. It's, uh, complicated and deserves its own post.
Fic Tropes: Jason is a poor little meow meow who never did anything wrong and the Batfam are all mean, authorities thugs and or naïve idiots for not wanting him to go around beheading people and controlling crime.
So I apologize in advance if I misunderstood this ask! But I really struggled with answering this question. Because that's me! Isn't it? Thing is, I don't know!
Altogether those tropes are bad, because it, again, creates an over-the-top impression. Like abused genius baby Tim. But separately, or just carefully balanced... It could work.
Jason as poor little meow meow is, well, as popular as he's hated (by me, at least). Because yeah, our boy went through some shit, and then some more, and more and more yet. And it's honestly - fucking tragic, and I am attracted to this tragedy. But he's like. Giving as good as he gets, it's important imo.
At least, up until he doesn't.
And I might be misunderstanding PLMM as a trend, but I think I do write him like that. I have, I think, at least three fics where Bruce outright kills him? I remember a not-so-good reaction to one of it in particular because I didn't tag it with Major Character Death, even if he empathically does not come back. And I was like, huh, I really didn't tag it. It didn't occur to me, because Jason always dies.
Whether he did something wrong or not, is rarely in my focus. Who cares if you did something wrong when the one who kills you is your father, who is supposed to love you unconditionally? Who wouldn't even kill Joker? (that applies to some extent to fics where Bruce doesn't kill Jason, but they still are antagonistic; i.e. who cares if Jason murders the whole Earth, if, in an ideal world, it wouldn't matter to Bruce either; look, he's a hero, but he is also a father; as a hero, his responsibility to stop Red Hood. As a father, his responsibility is to support him. Yeah! It's not realistic to expect from Batman to support a murderer but! The murder, in this case, is a metaphor, okay)
And then we get to the second part of this trope: Batfam is mean. Yes, I love using this in short stories. Mostly because that's what Batfam stans themselves say: that they, their favorite characters, wouldn't be kind and accepting to Jason, because he's a murderer who's beheading people. Irrevocable differences.
Dick honestly wishes Jason died during his fight with Bruce;
Tim never thought Jason is his Robin, he thinks he's a loser;
Cass would never accept death as a matter of course;
Steph paid with her life for the right not to become a Red Hood of sorts;
Damian had to work to overcome his conditioning and redeem himself (which, a funny fucking premise, Damian's redemption; I would argue that he is not, in fact, at fault or has anything to redeem himself over; I hate the idea of him needing redemption) and so he wouldn't appreciate Red Hood who's still (kinda) how Damian was in the past.
They all will be mean to Jason in my fics because they're mean to him both in comics and in the collective consciousness of their fans.
Seriously, even if I don't look at it as a writer but as a reader, I will have far fewer issues with Batfam being mean vs Batfam welcoming him with open arms. It's not going to happen - it's not supposed to. Jason is passed that, and they, let's face it, were never looking at him charitably. Always seeing the worst of him, from Bruce to Alfred to Barbara to Dick. Which is the view that Tim, Steph, and Cass should have inherited via the stories they were told.
And basically, with Batfam honestly expecting the worst out of Red Hood and whether or not Jason meets their expectations, it's a great premise. For me, it's never about murder good vs murder bad. It's about the extent of family acceptance, and what you personally sacrifice of yourself to fit in. Will Batfam accept Red Hood? (no) Will Red Hood carve out a piece of himself to be accepted? (also no) Will they still remain a family? Were they ever a family? (...)
And this is, like, only one of the probable takes on the trope. Back to my short stories where Bruce just kills Jason and doesn't even realize it, it's honestly just that. A tear-jerker. Yes, not much literary merit to it. And people can, like, judge me about it but don't tell me it's unrealistic.
So my verdict: this is a trope that looks bad but could be good. Jason is a poor little meow meow, Batfam is mean.
If you balance the shit well and don't go over the top, you can pull that off.
Things that will put me off: Batfam not only mean but also morons (talk about unrealistic); OP Jason (he's good but he's not god-level, there have to be some limitations); moralizing (don't try to be Jason Todd's lawyer, please, he doesn't need it).

The House votes today on the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act. This bill, known as PRENDA, would make gender-selective abortion illegal, protecting unborn females from the war on baby girls that is being waged upon them.
More from CNN:
One of the most divisive issues in politics is set to take center stage in Congress on Thursday as the House of Representatives votes on a measure banning abortions based on the sex of a fetus.
Supporters characterize the proposal as a necessary defense of the civil rights of unborn children; opponents consider it part of a broader so-called “war on women” and an ongoing assault on legalized abortion.
The Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act would impose possible fines and prison sentences up to five years on doctors who knowingly perform abortions chosen on grounds based on sex.
Abortion providers could also be subject to civil penalties, including punitive monetary damages, under certain circumstances.
How incredibly sad is it that stopping gendercide is “divisive?” Opponents of this bill claim it is a “war on women.” In reality, their opposition to it is the real war on women, and on baby girls. Faux feminists always trot out the false war on women while ignoring the very real killing of our baby girls. It doesn’t just happen in Asia, where there are 163 million “missing” women. By missing, they mean dead. Some states have passed such laws already or are trying to do so. The “feminist” response? Maybe it’s icky, but shut up. Because, “reproductive rights.”
In March, Arizona passed a law making gender- or raced-based abortion illegal. Many questioned whether this was even necessary. It doesn’t even happen here, does it? But of course it does. When you have legal, unlimited abortion on demand, unborn children can be, and are, killed for any reason, including their gender. The passage of the law in Arizona prompted the lefty feminist Monica Potts to write the following at the American Prospect:
“Americans have always had a low tolerance for the icky factor related to anything that seems to involve parents engineering their families. Even if it were happening, which there’s no evidence for, this bill would be wrong. We don’t need to get into the business of wondering why women have abortions, and policing it. Would I be personally horrified to find out a woman and her husband routinely sought abortions of female fetuses? Yes, I would. Would I seek to stop them? No, not beyond any personal counsel or public criticism it’s in my rights to provide. That’s just the way it is. Sometimes, freedom means we have to live with the possibility of icky things.”
How super empowering. You’ve come a long way, baby! Self-professed “feminists” willingly accept, defend and fight for gender-based abortion. The real “ick factor” is that Ms. Potts and her faux feminist brethren believe that it is totally fine to kill babies for any reason, including their gender, because The Cause of the made-up and nebulous “reproductive rights” is more important. More important than, you know, actual lives. What’s a little willful killing of baby girls if it’s for A Cause ™?
They are grossly opposing PRENDA as well.
This is just a less obvious way of banning abortion #GOPWarOnWomen–House to vote on abortion bill http://t.co/ZaG1rFpY
— Talia Moore (@TaliaMMoore) May 30, 2012
Or, you know, a way to stop gendercide. How dare anyone try to stop abortion providers from aiding and abetting eugenics? If you assault someone based on her gender, then you should suffer additional penalties as a hate crime perpetrator. But aborting an unborn baby because she’s a girl? Hunky-dory. Stop bitterly clinging to ethics, wing nuts.

To the Left, baby girls are expendable and women are disposable. Wasting our time on protecting the lives of girls? Stupid rubes!
House GOP Pushes Ban On Non-Existing Sex-Selective Abortion Problem http://t.co/CfLX2S1G via @thinkprogress
— Thomas Milman (@seventimestom) May 30, 2012
Non-existent? One doesn’t even need to look to Asia to know that is not true. Live Action recently exposed Planned Parenthood aiding and abetting sex-selective abortion in Texas. And today, Live Action exposed a New York City clinic facilitating gendercide.
BREAKING NEW VIDEO: Round 2, this time Planned Parenthood in NYC arranges a sex-selective abortion: http://t.co/LfiZIdDE #protectourgirls
— Live Action (@LiveActionFilms) May 31, 2012
Live Action further cites studies showing that sex-selective abortion is happening here in the United States.
Despite opponents’ arguments that sex-selection abortions are not occurring in the United Sates, Dr. Sunita Puri and three other researchers at the University of California found that sex-selection abortions are in fact occurring due to the unborn child being a girl. You can read more about Dr. Puri’s research here and also find other resources on sex-selection abortions at NRLC’s website.
Of course it is. When you have legal, unlimited abortion on demand that is what happens. Unborn children can be, and are, killed for any reason, including their gender or their race. Margaret Sanger smiles.

— Michelle Goldberg (@michelleinbklyn) May 31, 2012
Michelle Goldberg, revolting as always.
The lesson is clear. Anyone who is genuinely concerned about sex-selective abortion should be working to fight sexism, its underlying cause. Laws that seek to limit women’s autonomy and confine them to traditional roles have it precisely backward. Unless, of course, limiting women’s autonomy and confining them to traditional roles has been the goal all along.
The traditional role of being allowed to live? Well, gee, it’s not like girl babies deserve human rights or anything. Children are to be aborted at and for one’s convenience, even if the inconvenience is the baby’s sex.
The President also gave his repugnant opinion. You know, the same alleged man who told women that their daughters’ dreams are predicated on the legal ability to kill their own children.
Forgot to tweet this yesterday – asked the WH about House gender-selection abortion bill > http://t.co/lgLY9HpF
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) May 31, 2012
From Tapper’s ABC report:
TAPPER: The House is, I think, this afternoon preparing to take up a bill that would ban gender selection as a factor in abortions in this country. And I was wondering — I haven’t a statement of administration policy; I was wondering if the White House had a position on that?
CARNEY: I will have to take that as well. Been focused on other things, but I will get back to you.
Note: The White House got back to me this evening to say the president opposes the bill.
White House deputy press secretary Jamie Smith says in a statement: “The Administration opposes gender discrimination in all forms, but the end result of this legislation would be to subject doctors to criminal prosecution if they fail to determine the motivations behind a very personal and private decision. The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.”
Unless it is taking over your health care. And intruding on every other aspect of your life. But the lives of girls? Above his pay-grade.
Summer is here and this campaign is heating up—join Women for Obama today: http://t.co/935QihDW
— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) May 30, 2012
Sickening. Women for Obama, while he thinks that protecting doctors is more important than life. But, then, he always has. As a senator in Illinois, he voted four times against Born Alive acts. Not only does he think that aborting a child for being a girl is fine and dandy, he wouldn’t even want her life to be saved were she to survive the abortion attempt.
He believes that babies who are born alive during an abortion attempt should legally be left to die. In his own words:
As I understand it, this puts the burden on the attending physician who has determined, since they were performing this procedure, that, in fact, this is a nonviable fetus; that if that fetus, or child — however way you want to describe it — is now outside the mother’s womb and the doctor continues to think that it’s nonviable but there’s, let’s say, movement or some indication that, in fact, they’re not just coming out limp and dead..
Not just coming out limp and dead. Poor doctors would have too much of a burden, what with pesky babies not cooperating and insisting on having the human will to live and the strong spirit to survive. Especially those icky girl babies.
The Left has always sanctioned infanticide as an end justifying the means, even if the means was the lives of babies. Now they are also sanctioning gendercide.
Vote on the ban on sex-selection abortions in the House is today, still time to call to support it http://t.co/iGEwhcaZ
— LifeNews.com (@LifeNewsHQ) May 31, 2012
Today in DC.Those who vote against it need to lose jobs. Sex-selection abortion ban set to get vote in House of Rep. http://t.co/eSHLfAYx
— Amy Jayne Hawkins (@amyjaynehawkins) May 31, 2012
Take note and remember who voted to condone the killing of baby girls for the horrible crime of having girly bits. And remember, ladies, The Cause is always more important than you are.
Or your daughters.
