Simon knew marriage came with adjustments, but nothing could have prepared him for life with a writer.
It wasn’t just the weird questions—though there were plenty of those—it was the way your mind never seemed to slow down. You’d be doing something completely normal, like folding laundry, and suddenly stop, eyes going distant.
He’d barely have time to ask what was wrong before you’d rush off to scribble something down, muttering about plot twists and character arcs.
Sometimes, he’d wake up in the middle of the night to find you sitting up in bed, phone screen lighting up your face as you frantically typed notes because “this idea can’t wait until morning.”
It meant half-finished coffee cups scattered around the house, abandoned when inspiration hit.
It meant narrating your own actions under your breath, like “she sighed, stretching her arms above her head” while actually doing it, which always made him raise an eyebrow.
And then there were the moments that made him question everything, like when you casually asked if he thought someone could realistically survive being shot twice in the chest or how long a body would take to decompose in a swamp. He used to answer with concern. Now, he barely looked up. “For a book?” “For a book.”
At first, he thought the strangest part was the research, but then he realized it was how easily you pulled him into it. You used him for everything—testing out fight scenes by making him grab your wrist so you could figure out how a character would escape, running your hands over his shoulders and down his arms as you mumbled about muscle structure and “what kind of build do you think my main guy should have?”
You studied him constantly, stealing phrases he said, describing his expressions in your notes, even admitting once that a few of your male characters had a bit of his attitude.
And then there was the way you used him for other inspiration. He figured it out one evening when he saw you sitting on the couch, staring at him with that look—one that usually meant you had something on your mind, but this time, you weren’t saying anything. Just watching.
He glanced over from where he was cleaning his gun. “What?”
You didn’t answer right away, just tilted your head slightly. “I think I want to write a new scene.”
He raised his brow, setting his things aside. “What kind of scene?”
A small smile played on your lips as you stood, walking toward him. “Something a bit messy.”
Simon leaned back, arms resting lazily on the couch as he looked you up and down. “You need details, then?”
“Mhm.” You straddled his lap, fingers toying with the hem of his shirt. “Need to get it just right.”
He smirked, his hands settling on your waist. “That why you’re lookin’ at me like I’m about to be put to work?”
“You don’t mind a little hard work, do you?” you teased, nails scraping lightly against his skin.
His grip tightened, voice low. “Not if you’re gonna make it worth my while.”
Much later, when you were tangled in the sheets, catching your breath, you rolled over and reached for your phone. Before you could even unlock it, a strong arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you back against Simon’s chest. “Nope,” he muttered against your shoulder.
You laughed. “I just had a thought—”
“Don’t care.” His voice was warm and heavy with sleep. “Whatever you’re about to write down, you can remember it in the morning.”
“But—”
A hand slid down your hip, fingers pressing into your skin in a way that made you shiver. “I said, in the morning,” he murmured, his lips brushing against your ear. Then, just to make sure you listened, he added, “Be a good girl and go to sleep.”
Your entire body heated at the words, your brain short-circuiting for a second before snapping into overdrive. Without a word, you bolted upright, nearly diving for your phone as you started typing furiously.
Simon groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Are you serious?”
“Shhh,” you hushed him, fingers flying across the screen. “This is really good.”

if husband! katsuki had a dream that you served him divorce papers, he would be SO mad at you.
katsuki woke up with a start, his chest heaving as the remnants of the vivid dream clung to his mind. in the dream, you had stood in front of him, utterly calm, as you handed him his worst nightmare: divorce papers.
“it's not you, its me,” you said, your expression indifferent as if breaking his heart meant nothing. "i'm just bored, katsuki."
it wasn’t real, he knew that. but the image of you walking away from him felt too real, too painful. the words echoed in his head as he sat on the edge of the bed, his fists clenched. bored? how could you say that after everything you've been through? even though it was just a dream, it shook him to near death.
and when katsuki saw you later that morning, smiling and greeting him like usual, he couldn’t help but scowl. normally, the sight would calm him, but instead, a strange sense of betrayal bubbled up inside him. how could dream-you say something like that? and why couldn’t he shake the feeling?
“morning, katsuki,” you said cheerfully, leaning in to kiss him on the cheek.
he turned his head slightly, causing your lips to brush his jaw instead. you blinked, confused. “uh… everything okay?”
“fine,” he muttered, getting up and leaving you all alone in the bed.
all day, katsuki avoided your texts, kept his responses curt, and barely looked your way when you crossed paths at home. you quickly realized something was off but couldn’t figure out what. by evening, you had enough.
"okay, whats your problem? you've been sulking all day,” you said firmly, standing in front of him while he sat on the couch. “you’ve been acting like i killed your damn dog. what did i do?”
katsuki glared at you, his emotions finally bubbling over. “you left me! that’s what you did!”
you stared at him, completely baffled. “what are you talking about? i didn’t leave you. i’ve been here all day!”
katsuki exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “fine. i had this stupid dream, alright? you—” he hesitated, the words catching in his throat. “you divorced me. you said you were bored and just... left me.”
for a moment, there was silence as you processed what he was saying. then, to katsuki’s annoyance, you started laughing.
“you’re mad at me... because of a dream?” you asked, your laughter bubbling out uncontrollably.
“it felt real!” he barked, his cheeks flushing slightly. “you don’t get to laugh! this isn't fuckin' funny! do you know how shitty that felt?!”
“i’m sorry!” you gasped between giggles, clutching your stomach. “it’s just… do you really think i’d ever do that?”
katsuki’s scowl deepened. “its not that. its just... you said it so casually in the dream. like i didn’t even matter.”
you tried to stifle your laughter, but your amusement was clear as day. “katsuki... you’re everything to me. i would never leave you. ever. especially not because i was bored. you’re the opposite of boring. you’re the most stubborn, infuriating, incredible man I’ve ever met.”
he grunted, looking away. “tch. doesn’t change the fact that it felt real.”
you bit your lip, guilt swirling in your chest. you could see how much the dream had affected katsuki, even if it wasn’t real. determined to make it up to him, you climbed onto his lap, straddling him, and cupped his face in your hands.
“i’m sorry your brain decided to torture you like that,” you said softly before leaning in to pepper his face with kisses. “but let me remind you of how much i love you.”
your lips pressed against his forehead, his cheeks, his nose, and finally, his lips. each kiss was light and playful, drawing a reluctant smirk from him.
“sweets,” katsuki muttered, trying to keep up the tough act, but you didn’t let up.
you continued your attack, kissing down his jaw and back to his lips, murmuring between kisses. “i'm so happy you're my husband.”
katsuki finally relented, his hands settling on your hips as he let out a low chuckle. “you’re fuckin' weird.”
“and you’re grumpy,” you teased. “but i love you anyway.”
“hmph. i love you too,” he admitted, his voice softer now as his arms wrap around you, brushing your nose against his. “sorry for being an idiot today.”
“you’re not an idiot. just... talk to me about it next time, okay?”
"fine. be my fuckin' wife for forever, 'kay?"
"i promise," you cut him off with a kiss.
and katsuki kissed you back, finally letting the tension melt away, drowning himself in the taste of your and your presence. you're here. you weren't gonna leave him because he was bored. you never would.
"tch. i’m still blaming you for my bad dreams though."

i had been thinking about this all day at work.
fwb!vi x f!reader - 1
summary: looks say far more than words can.
when you and vi first started this arrangement, the way she looked at you was different.
it was a look of hunger; a look that a mountain lion would possess as it laid its eyes on an innocent lamb. to say she wanted to eat you was too kind—she wanted to devour you, tear into your flesh with sharp, and wet her gullet with your blood.
it was possession that drove her to throw you on the bed before mounting you. the desperate urge to keep as she swallowed you whole, bones and all, until there was nothing left of you.
that was months ago, when the arrangement was still fresh. when you firmly stated that this was nothing but downright filthy sex, and vi agreed.
but everything has changed.
vi doesn't look at you the same.
except she does, but it's worse somehow.
while she still pins you down with that gaze of raw possession, it's...softened.
no longer is it harsh and jagged, slicing through your flesh with serrated edges. now, it cradles you, like gentle hands holding the delicate body of a baby bird. cautious, easy...
fond.
it terrifies you.
vi's nestled in the cradle of your thighs, hiding her face in the plush of your stomach. her arms are locked around your waist, tight and assured, and she's humming a tune. it's muffled, but it's familiar; a song that she lets loose when she's happy.
when she's happy with you.
there's a heavy rock in your stomach, pulling you down towards the ground. it may drag you through the earth, suffocating you in the terrifying heat of the earth's mantle. maybe the heat will kill you first, but you'll be killed nonetheless.
this is what your fear feels like. this is what you were afraid of.
vi's shifting on your lap momentarily draws you away from your inevitable breakdown. she's now lying on her back, baring her face back to the world—back to you.
the smile on her face is tender; it's what some might even call loving. the rock in your stomach gains five pounds, nausea pooling at the back of your throat.
no.
"hey, pretty girl," vi murmurs, low and slow, as if those words are her secrets. "what's going on in that head of yours?"
the words sit at the tip of your tongue, scrambling for freedom. they seep into your taste buds, leaving behind the most sour of tastes.
we need to stop this, is what yells to be said. we said no feelings. this was supposed to be about sex and nothing else. so why does it feel like you're in love with me?
why does it feel like i'm in love with you, too?
"nothing," you say instead, mimicking the low and slow, like you're also telling secrets. "just wondering about what i should do tonight."
you stress the i a little too harshly, but vi doesn't notice. or maybe she does and refuses to care. maybe she's acting on her own will, doing what feels right by her standards.
which is unfair; she isn't allowed to do this to you.
"well, if you don't anything in mind," vi says easily. "we could go catch a movie or something? maybe go and grab something to eat from jericho's?" the way she says we is too simple, as if it's always been we and not you and her.
you stare down at her for a moment, really take her in. the slope of her nose, the scar on her upper lip. the soft pinks of her cheeks, and her eyes. wide and power blue and far too expressive of their own good because she's looking at you with that look again.
that look that means way too much.
when you open your mouth, all that falls out is a lie.
"actually, i have to wake up early in the morning." you lie through your teeth because you need to get away from this—from her.
the look in vi's eyes changes, slips into something foreign; something unknown. you've never seen this look before, but you can't find it in yourself to worry about it.
when vi leaves, she presses a lingering kiss upon your lips. her hands grasp at you a bit too tightly, as if feeling you for the last time. then she's gone without a word, and a part of you wonders what that could have meant.
but as the weeks go by and vi goes unheard of, you suddenly realise on a deathly cold morning.
vi was saying goodbye.

I CAN SEE YOU
track 02: make me
Given how much you loved making art, you could've held so much more exhibitions by now, if it weren't for the immense dread that comes with it. Not because of the exhaustion, but because of your own blood.
"Great! This is great!" Your father laughed, continuously patting your shoulders at the sheer delight of seeing the surges of people arriving at the gallery.
Funny, how they were very light pats yet never fail to weigh you down.
"Now you have to make better artworks so that the next exhibition could be better too!" He grinned. Still keeping you beside him, your father's eyes roamed around until he found a business friend of his. He gracefully nodded at the said friend's direction. In your family's dictionary, this gesture was meant to be an invite.
"Nice exhibition, [Name]." The stranger remarked as soon as he got near you and your father. "When's the next one?"
They both laughed.
And you found it sickening.
Was it really that funny to make light of your hard work and effort? Why are they talking about it as if it was easy to do? As if your paintings were mere commodities — machine-produced, basic, and standard.
Or maybe you were the problem. Maybe you were over-analyzing stuff and putting meaning into things that shouldn't and didn't have them in the first place. Maybe these two men were saying these things because they believe in you and your ability. Maybe it was a good thing.
Maybe you were in the wrong, thinking that they did not really appreciate what you just put out.
But was it really wrong to feel frustrated when people keep expecting more, when really, all you wanted at that moment was to take a break?
"Uhm —"
"You should start on the next one as soon as possible."
The additional statement of the stranger in front of you did nothing to quell your restlessness. One of your brows raised subtly without you noticing it.
"Actually, I plan to take a little break," you abruptly replied. You internally winced at how your voice sounded. The usual mask coating your words — the mask of softness and calmness — was absent. Instead, what seeped through was impudence.
And in the presence of your father, that was tantamount to committing a grave sin.
You fucked up.
The man in front of you just nodded and smiled awkwardly, bidding hurried yet still formal goodbyes to your father.
"[Name]!" Your father wasn't roaring, but there was an underlying threat to his deceivingly calm voice. There always was. "That is not how we talk to our business partners."
'Your business partner, father,' you thought.
"I apologize for my behavior earlier. I was merely exhausted."
He clicked his tongue. "A lifetime of learning etiquette and still making minor mistakes as a full-grown adult? How disappointing."
You remained silent.
"You better hope that disrespect you showed to him earlier wouldn't affect our long-term business relationship with them, unless you want to end up like your disappointment of a cousin."
He's talking about Eula.
Your elder cousin, who to you, was everything but a disappointment. How is it that they disapprove of her, when the only thing she has ever done was follow her dreams and speak for herself? How is it that they view her as a failure, when she was what you looked up to?
Perhaps, you might've even envied her. Her guts.
If you had them, you would have cut off the whole family a long time ago as well.
You took a deep breath, donning another calculated smile as you saw more people approaching.

The air hit your naked arms as soon as you stepped outside the restaurant which gave you goosebumps.
Under any other circumstances you might have asked Joel for his jacket but despite feeling defiant and stubborn you knew that you had pissed him off too much already.
It was the way he stared ahead without even as much as glancing at you. All of these things he usually did like wrapping an arm around your waist or looking at you every now and then in order to make sure you were fine he didn't do right now.
"Joel," you started trying to sound as relaxed and unbothered as possible although you felt a little panicky.
"Walk," was all he answered and for a moment you stopped smoking and walking to look at him.
"What?"
Now he finally wrapped his arm around your back but not to comfort you but to drag you with him.
"Joel, what the – " "Shut up. And put this out," he hissed and forcefully pulled the cigarette out of your mouth.
'No,' you thought and turned to him. Who did he think he was treating you like a kid? You pushed at his chest while simultaneously reaching for the cigarette but he was stronger than you and quickly took hold of your wrists.
"Will you quit the fighting now?" he growled and you hated how calm he sounded while you were feeling like you were making a fool of yourself.
"Let me go," you answered but the way you dropped your head and how you were avoiding his gaze gave your true feelings away. He chuckled at you while putting the cigarette that he had just taken from you into his own mouth.
"Give it back," you demanded but only got another evil smirk in response.
"No."
"Please. I'm sorry."
He raised his eyebrows acting all surprised. "Oh you're sorry? For what?"
Why did he have to humiliate you like this every goddamn time? You chewed on your bottom lip thinking of a way not to give him exactly what he wanted but before you could even open your mouth he had already turned around to continue the short walk to his car while pulling you with him. For a second you were almost relieved figuring that he might let you off this easily but of course he wasn't finished yet.
"Answer me."
You despised how he was able to intimidate you with so little he needed to say and suddenly you felt like crying.
"I'm sorry, I… I shouldn't have spend so much time talking t-to Charles."
Your voice was barely more than a whisper and for a moment you feared he would make you repeat your apology but he remained silent which unsettled you more than anything else.
"I'm sorry, Joel," you said a little louder. "I really am."
You stood in front of the car now but neither of you intended to enter it. To be fair, he had the car keys so there was nothing you could do anyway. All of a sudden he took a stepd towards you and it was such a powerful movement that you instinctively took one back. His dark eyes laid on your face for a while until his hand slowly approached your chin.
"Not Joel," he growled dangerously. You gulped loudly and slightly shifted under his grip.
"Please, Joel, I – "
The slap came unexpected and so hard that your head turned to the side and a gasp left your mouth. Your cheek stung and at first you open-mouthedly stared at him but then the irrational side of you took over and you fought. You pushed at his chest and moved away from him but his arms came down to firmly grab your upper arms. Before you were able to form a single straight thought in your head Joel had moved you towards the car and now you were trapped between the door and his strong body.
"You best not be doin' this, kitten," he said sounding almost gleeful. "You don't want this."
He precisely watched your face while tilting his head a little as if he was waiting for an answer. But you were definitely too emotional to speak.
"You don't wanna get into more trouble than you're already in."
"Joel," you tried but were quickly interrupted as his hand came down to your neck.
"No. Try again."
"Please…," you begged him realizing now how pissed he actually was but his eyes were completely merciless. His hand slightly squeezed around your throat making you inhale greedily fearing that he might cut off your air supply.
"No. Go on, you know the word, babygirl."
"Daddy," it eventually broke out of you and his grip loosened a little while his face didn't change at all. He looked so cold that a shiver ran down your spine and you had to blink a few times.
"There… we go," he murmured and then before you could try and ask him for his forgiveness Joel had started to open his belt and you felt your heart sink.
He did not only want to use sex as a punishment for you but he also wanted it to happen here? You were definitely down for getting on your knees for him if it meant that he would forgive you but you didn't feel like doing it on a parking space where someone could walk by any minute.
And yet you kept those thoughts to yourself at first and watched his hands open his jeans. Once he was done he suddenly yanked your head back which made you shriek but he was quick to place a hand on your mouth.
"You're gonna shut the fuck up now or I'll shove somethin' way bigger than my cock down your throat, you understand me?"
You quietly whimpered but nodded with your head.
"You fucking know that ya pissed me off. You did a heck of a job with that." You closed your eyes trying to ignore the way your scalp stung under his force but he immediately shook you.
"Look at me, bitch." You couldn't help it and let out a sob which Joel utterly ignored.
"I ain't too fond of seeing some guy lookin' at ya like that. But what I hate even more – " He came even closer to you with his mouth almost brushing over your jaw "Is you enjoying it."
"I didn't, daddy. I swear it to you, I didn't enjoy it."
He laughed lowly but there was nothing warm about the sound.
"Every fucking person at the table saw it, you filthy little liar. Everyone saw you blinking your eyes and giving him that goddamn stupid smile like you're nothing but a empty-headed slut that's pretty to look at."
Tears collected in the corner of your eyes and you knew that if he continued to talk to you that way it would be a matter of seconds until they would roll down your face.
"Please, daddy. I'm sorry… I… I really am. I only want you, please."
He cruelly smirked and suddenly roughly grabbed your left breasts through the fabric of your shirt.
"I know ya do. 'Cause when it comes down to it ya run back to daddy thinking he'll fix everything. You think you can act like a whore and then come back to me at the end of the day, spread your legs an' everythin' will be fine. Daddy's gonna protect and forgive ya 'cause you're such a sweet l'il thing."
You felt the familiar feeling of your nipple hardening under his rough hand and when he ran his thumb over the bud you gasped.
"Yeah, s'right. Wanna hear you moan. Wanna hear you proving my fucking point."
He was so close to you now that you felt his bulge pressing against your center and you couldn't help but slightly grind against him.
"S'not gonna go on like this," he growled and forcefully removed your hands that had started to pull at his arms by pinning them to the car next to your body.
"I have a feeling you need a lesson in how to behave yourself. 'Cause you ain't gonna go around throwing yourself against those pretty boys any longer. I'm gonna remind you who this little body belongs to. And 'cause my words ain't enough to make you obey me I'll find a different way."
His hand returned to its previous position on your chest and he roughly kneaded the flesh. You were stunned and felt the blood rushing in your cheeks while looking down to his big hand connected to your body.
"D-Daddy," you whined and desired some stimulation on your clit so badly that you rocked your core against his thigh between your legs. You just couldn't help yourself. Joel granted you the space for a few seconds before removing his hands from your body.
"On your fucking knees," he hissed and in the dim light his eyes looked so dark that you couldn't make out his pupils. For some reason it unsettled you because he watched you like a predator examining his prey. An animal thinking about what it would do to its victim.
You were torn from your thoughts when Joel grabbed a fistful of your hair and pulled you down.
"I said. On your fucking knees. Or do I have to make you?"
You placed your hands on his trying to prevent him from ripping out your hair while your face was distorted in pain.
"Please Daddy, do I have to do it here? Where someone could watch?"
"Do you think you're in the position to demand anything of me right now?" he spoke through grinded teeth and increased the force with which he pulled you down. It was simply too much now because you felt you had no choice but to move to the ground and suddenly you found yourself kneeling in front of him.
"I'm gonna do it and I'm gonna be good, I swear. But please, in the car at least?" you begged and didn't care how pathetic you must look to him. It was even harder to make out his facial expression from the position you were in now so all you could do was wait for his answer. And it came. In the form of his cock.
He pulled down his jeans just so much that he could free his already hard cock. As always you looked at his member with wide eyes thinking that he definitely was the biggest you had ever seen. He was veiny, thick and long and… beautiful.
Before you had met Joel you had often caught yourself thinking that the male genitals were a little disgusting if you were being honest with yourself and that you could pretty much do without a man's cock when you were being intimate with someone. But then you had seen him for the first time and from this moment on you felt like touching him at all times.
He felt so good in your hand; so heavy and soft and when you twirled your tongue around his tip you could taste his saltiness and your favourite part was when he twitched inside of your mouth. And you didn't even want to start with having him inside of you. When he fucked you nice and slow you could feel every inch and every vein so intensely. He could reach so deep inside of you that he sometimes hit your cervix and when he found the right angle he managed to hit that spongy spot inside of you while his balls simultaneously stimulated your clit.
But now… Now he was angry and you knew he wouldn't make it easy for you.
"Open," his husky voice ordered you and you stuck out your tongue just the way he liked it.
You put everything in your eyes; everything that he wanted to see when he intended to punish you. Submissiveness, weakness, vulnerability, obedience. Because as much as he felt like you needed to be reminded of your place, he needed to be reminded that you were his and that he could do everything he wanted to you as well. That you needed him and were fully dependend on him.
Even in the darkness you could see something glistening in his eyes and then he pushed two fingers in your mouth.
"Suck," he said but you wouldn't have needed the command.
Your tongue immediately swirled around the digits as if it was the tastiest thing you've ever had in your mouth and when you heard Joel quietly moan you felt a little more hopeful again. You would show him, prove him how good you were and how eager you were to please him.
The first time you struggled a little was when he went deeper. You didn't have a very strong gagging reflex but at some point you couldn't help it and let out a sound of displeasure. You didn't even know whether Joel did this to prepare you for his cock and this was an act of kindness or he simply wanted to see you choke on his fingers before entering you but based on his current state of mind you assumed it was the first.
Your hands gripped his jeans while he forced his fingers down your throat and you felt spit running out of the corner of your mouth. This would be messy but you were beyond the point of caring about anything that didn't surround him.
"Take it, kitten. C'mon, be a good girl for daddy."
And you wanted to be good so badly. You had hurt him, betrayed him although you wanted him to be able to trust you. How could you have done this after Joel had been so kind to you? Suddenly you felt more tears welling in your eyes and you weren't certain if they were caused by the intrusion or your sudden sadness.
He pushed deeper, so deep that you thought if he went an inch deeper you would have to beg him to stop but then it was suddenly over.
You blinked twice and Joel clearly used your astonishment to swiftly insert his cock into your still open mouth and he sighed deeply once he felt the wetness and warmth of it. "Fuck…"
In the meantime you were trying to adjust to his size and find a way to properly inhale. You forced yourself to breathe steadily and did everything in your power to ignore the way his tip grazed the back of your throat. 'Don't think about it, don't think about it,' was you mantra because you knew if you really paid attention to how deep he actually was it would only worsen everything. Instead you concentrated on your lips and how they tightly wrapped around his shaft.
At first Joel enjoyed taking in the way you felt around him but then he began to fuck your throat as if you were nothing but a little toy for him to get off. His hand grabbed the back of your head holding you in place and then he backed out a little only to take your throat all the way.
You whimpered and noticed the fresh tears burning in your eyes but didn't dare to complain. He simply didn't care. He would take you the way he wanted, use your throat and do whatever it was he craved. And right now it seemed like he wanted to destroy your mouth.
"Holy shit," Joel cursed and put his left hand on the car for support. "Can't believe m'not doing this all the fucking time. Need to remind myself of how good your little throat feels more often, mhm?"
He lightly slapped your cheek with his hand which caused you to moan and him humming in satisfaction as the vibrations of your mouth stimulated his cock so perfectly.
"Where am I gonna put my cum, huh? Any preferences, baby?" he laughed about his own words being well–aware that even if you wanted to say something, you weren't able to and then watched you thoughtfully.
"Maybe m'gonna make you choke on it. Or paint your pretty face. I think it would look good mixed with your little tears."
All you could do was just look at him and wait. It wasn't your decision to make after all and so you just tried your best to hold back the sound of you gagging around him.
Soon you sensed that he grew closer to his release as his thrusts became more sloppy and his grunts became louder and all you prayed for was that he wouldn't come down your throat. You were already sore, your jaw was aching and you needed a moment of peace as quickly as possible.
Perhaps it was the first time that you were in luck tonight because Joel seemed to have made a choice and suddenly pulled out of you.
"Stick your tongue out, baby," he growled darkly and then threw his head back. "Ohh fuck… Yeah, that's it…. Take it all."
You sat patiently obediently looking up to him with an open mouth and for a moment felt very proud of yourself for having followed his demands so well. Joel pumped himself over and over again until he was sure he had emptied himself entirely and then really looked at you again.
You must have been a sight with your hair sticking to your forehead, tears and cum covering your face while there certainly was drool running down your chin. The corner of his mouth twitched and then he slapped your cheek, softer now than before.
And yet it frustrated you because you had believed he would be more gentle with you now and some part of you had even assmued that your punishment would be over now.
"Open your legs," he hissed and his foot moved between your knees to part them. You wore a long skirt so it was easy to do as he had told you and you spread them all while still having your teary eyes on him.
"Touch yourself. On your clit."
You frowned but slipped your hand past the elastic waistband of your skirt and then began to rub your clit through your panties.
"Can't I – " you started but were immediately interrupted by Joel.
"No, you can't stand up. Little whores like you belong on the ground. Y'can be glad I allow you to prepare yourself a little and don't just fuck you like this an' split you open."
As if you actually needed the preparation. You were dripping, your arousal soaking your panties but for the first time you actually weren't quite sure if Joel did this for you. There was no other reason for him to demand this of you apart from making sure you were well-prepared and wet for him. Well, you definitely felt humiliated and degraded kneeling in front of him on the dirty ground while touching yourself so if this was his intention he was succeeding, but it was not worse than having your throat destroyed the way he had just done.
You went in tight circles around your clit, just the way you liked it which felt good and yet you craved Joel's hands on you. His big hands touching you gently and softly everywhere you liked it. In these moments you felt so safe and protected and suddenly a new wave of anxiety hit you hard.
You were supposed to lay in his arms instead of sitting here in front of him. He looked so tall and powerful while you couldn't remember ever feeling so pathetic. And you hated how angry he looked as there was no sign of love or warmth on his face.
It started when you felt your hands trembling which disturbed your movement on your clit after a while. And then it was your bottom lip shaking and soon your whole body shivered uncontrolled. Joel didn't notice at first or perhaps he didn't care. He palmed himself at the sight of you letting out little sighs every now and then but when there were new tears coating your cheeks and your eyes weren't on him anymore he reached down to cup your chin.
"Babygirl," he whispered and lifted your head but you refused to look at him feeling too embarrassed.
"Look at me." You shook your head again and now also stopped rubbing your clit.
"I want you to look at me. Now."
Silence.
"Don't make me fuckin' repeat myself, kitten."
At this point you couldn't refuse anymore because you feared the consequences of your resistance. It didn't really matter anyway because your sight was so blurry that you could barely make out Joel's face but what you could see was the way he lifted his eyebrows.
"Y'know ya got yourself in this position, right? You know why I'm doin' this."
You blinked and bit your lip in order to surpress a cry. "Answer me. I wanna know you're fuckin' listenin' to me."
His grip on your chin tightened and you nodded with the amount of space he was giving you. "Yes. I know."
You felt embarrassed again by how thin and weak your voice sounded but Joel didn't give any time to think about it because he was already opening his mouth again.
"Good. You acted like a little slut. And you need to get punished for it. But what I can see right now is you bawling your eyes out like a little girl 'cause it ain't feel as good as you would've liked. Is that right, huh?"
You nodded because what else were you supposed to do? Deny it? Fight back? It would only make him more mad.
"So lemme tell you that it's supposed to be like that. You're supposed to feel pathetic 'cause you are pathetic. I wanna make you see what happens when you ignore my words. And now you're gonna swallow it up and do as I tell you. If not we're gonna leave but believe me darlin', you're gonna hate it even more than this. 'Cause I ain't gonna be nice to you until you took your fucking punishment. 'Cause you fuckin' deserve it."
He waited for you to react to his words and you nodded again.
"Okay," you breathed and tried to hold back the next wave of tears.
"You're gonna take it now?"
You hiccuped once but meant it when you whispered "Yes." Joel dropped your head at once as if he had burned himself and went back to massaging his cock.
"Go on. Want your pussy nice 'an wet for me when I fuck you."
And so you continued what you had started and went over your clit with your thumb. It felt good but you feared that you were too emotionally loaded to orgasm but luckily Joel didn't have this much patience anyway. He watched your kneeling figure for a few minutes while touching himself and then when he was hard enough again his feet that was still resting between your knees tapped against your thigh.
"Up," he commanded and you rose with wobbly knees. For a moment you were dizzy, having sat on the ground for quite a while now but Joel didn't care or didn't notice because he immediately turned you around so your back was pressed to his chest.
He adjusted you like you were a rag doll, your flat hands against the car, your legs slightly spread and your skirt pulled up so your ass was exposed to the cold air. You couldn't see what he was doing which freaked you out so you turned around to look at him over your shoulder.
He was looking down to where his cock stood hard against his abdomen and then before you could even register his hand movement he slapped your ass. Hard.
Your teeth sank in your lower lip and when Joel ran hand over where it had come down you hissed out.
"C'mon. Let me hear you. Let it out, babygirl."
Now that you were standing up again his voice was louder against your ear and you felt goosebumps on your arms. Everything about this was so familiar with his strong body pressed against you, his scent in your nose and his voice sending tingles through your body. And yet, with the way he treated you as if he hated you, you couldn't feel more distant from him. Like he would rather see you gone.
He pulled down your panties to fully reveal what laid between your legs to him.
"Daddy," you whispered without even noticing that the sound had slipped past your lips.
"What, babygirl?" he answered and you quietly shrieked when you felt his tip sliding through your folds.
"Need you," you choked and when you felt his finger at your hole checking your wetness your hands reached behind you to touch his arm. You just needed something. Some assurance that he was still there for you despite his anger and disappointment.
"God, fuckin' drippin' all over me. You got off on this? Filthy little slut."
He pushed two fingers inside of you but seemed to decide that you really didn't need the preparation so he just thrusted inside of you twice and then pulled back again.
"Daddy," you whimpered again not sure what you were asking for and now Joel finally took his eyes off your pussy to look at you.
"What," he grunted sounding more than pissed and as a reaction your hand on his arm tightened.
"Please. Please, need you."
"Shut up. I swear to god, I don't wanna hear another sound coming out of your mouth if it's not your sweet voice moanin' f'me."
With these words he removed your hands from his body and before you could blink he was inside of you stretching you so well that your eyes became round as coins.
"Huh," you gasped and suddenly felt very grateful for the car in front of you because you really needed something to hold on to. Joel gave you a brief moment to adjust although he perhaps simply needed a second to take in your pussy as well and then started to move inside of you.
"Oh fuck… That's a nice little pussy. Takin' me so fuckin' well…"
His thrusts were deep and forceful as if he wanted to make sure you felt every inch of him and that you were reminded of who the only person was who got to be inside of you.
"Mhmm…. You like that, babygirl? Like gettin' that pussy stretched?"
The whimper he got as a response seemed to be enough for him because he removed your hair to expose your neck and started to cover it with kisses and bitemarks. It was his first affectionate gesture since you had left the restaurant and although his teeth buried in your skin stung you felt relieved and grateful.
Every rational thought was banned from your mind. You had forgotten where you were, that this place wasn't appropriate to get your pussy fucked and that any person leaving the restaurant and walking to their car could see you.
His cock had taken over your mind. His voice, his beard stubble grazing over your neck. His hands on your hips holding you in place while he took from you what he wanted. And you wanted him to take and take until you were utterly consumed by him. Until you couldn't function without him and he was the only thing on your mind for all times.
And then when his hand reached around your hip to search for your clit you thought that it might be over. Your eyes rolled back and you bit your lip in an attempt to hold back the loud moan threatening to leave your mouth. Joel went in circles around your clit, pressing into the bundle of nerves every now and then and it was so good you felt your toes curl.
"Fuck," you pressed through closed teeth and felt your mind getting so clouded you forgot why he was even mad at you.
"I want ya to come f'me, baby. Want ya to soak my cock and clench 'round me. C'mon."
He slapped your ass at his words and increased the pace with which he stimulated your clit.
"Y-Yes," you pressed feeling the urge to communicate with him all of the sudden. "I-I… I wanna come, daddy."
His deep thrusts moved you against the car over and over again which hurt your hip bone that hit the door each time but you didn't care. Joel's mouth brushed over your hair, kissing you softly, but his hand that now moved around your upper body to wrap around your neck was in stark contrast to his gentle gesture. His iron grip prevented you from inhaling fresh air and for a moment you panicked and scratched his arm.
"Fuckin' relax. S'only gonna get worse if you fight back."
He held you in place like this and now you truly felt like a fuck toy. There was nothing you could do, his presence controlling every single one of your senses and eventually he made you come.
You were definitely too fucked out to tell him but Joel quickly noticed how you clenched around him and let out a satisfied growl.
"There ya go, honey." His hand between your legs slapped your clit which made you jolt and your head fell back on his shoulder.
"That's right, babygirl…"
You were too exhausted to even moan or say something so you just allowed these overwhelming feelings to spread throughout your body and you devoured every second of it.
Meanwhile Joel continued to use your body for his pleasure fucking you deep and moaning at the way your tight walls clenched and then soon he was about to come as well.
"Fuck yes, baby. Gonna fill ya up so good. You want that, huh? Wanna get knocked up by me?"
His hand squeezed your throat while his cock repeatedly pounded your sore pussy so roughly that you already knew you wouldn't be able to walk tomorrow.
"Who's body is this, babygirl? Tell me. Who's the only fuckin' person who gets to fuck this pussy? An' make her cum?"
You slightly tilted your head to look at him better while your trembling hands held on to his arms.
"It's your body, daddy. Only yours to look at and fuck."
He pressed down on your hips in order to trap you between his body and the car and then he finally came for the second time tonight and let out a deep grunt.
"Hell, yeah. That's it…"
Joel slowed down until he didn't move inside of you anymore but he didn't pull out yet. You on the other hand were hit by your post-orgasm blues and tightly clung to his arms while trying to turn around.
Suddenly you craved his presence and touch so badly that you let out a desperate cry and searched for his eyes. At some point Joel's gaze moved to your face and he noticed how needy you were. First he chuckled lowly but then he actually pulled out of you and turned your weak body around.
Your hands immediately moved to his chest and your hands gripped the fabric of his shirt while you pressed your face in the crouch of his neck.
"Baby…," he murmured and placed a hand on the back of your head.
Fearing that he might reject you or remove your hands from him you shook your head and thought that nothing could separate you from him right now. His big hand cradled your head and then his other hand wrapped around your back.
"Oh babygirl," he hummed and kissed your brow. "Look at me for a second."
You anxiously looked up to him but didn't move an inch away from his strong chest.
"Lemme get ya home. Then we can cuddle, alright?"
"N-No," you whimpered feeling as though letting go of him would be the worst thing that could happen right now but his hands firmly grabbed your shoulders.
"You know it's not a long drive. You're gonna get a cold if we'll stay here any longer. Just gonna drive us home and then you can go straight to bed."
You hesitated for a moment and questioningly watched him.
"Are you gonna stay with me, daddy?"
He smiled and a warmth filled your stomach. Or maybe it was the butterflies that were woken up. In either case, you realized how much you had missed his smile.
"Of course, babygirl. Gonna stay with ya all night."
You nodded slowly and took the hand he offered you. Although you felt a stitch in your stomach when you straightened up and immediately missed hearing his heartbeat, you allowed Joel to lead you to the other side of the car and entered it once he had opened the door.
Then within seconds he sat next to you and watched your face with warm eyes.
"You know I love ya, mhm?" he said with a low voice and you nodded while toying with your fingers.
"I love you too."
He started the car.
"Don't forget that, darlin'. Never."

ᥫ᭡ Day 2 . . . party sex with Theo
cw: 18+!, mdni, porn with very very minimal plot, public-ish sex, i honestly didn’t know what to do for this, mean!Theo, protected sex, degradation, suddenly obsessive/possessive Theo afterwards, Theo lowk getting an obsession on reader, light dark!Theo and content? If toxic and obsessive behaviour bothers you DON’T READ !! I don’t know how this of changed to a super mini story with the premise of party sex but uh yeah.
You scratched at the back of the man who had you held up and pinned to the dirty stall door of the club you were at.
How you got here was simple. You and your friends came to the club for valentines figuring none of you had dates. Spotted a cute guy who seemed to be here with his own friends. The man looked like he’d be such a softdom ‘n gentle fuck, but one of your friends didn’t agree, thought he’d be controlling and demanding. So what better thing then make a bet? you get a fuck and possibly money.
So you flirted the best way you could. Writing ‘Be my valentine’ on a condom and giving it to him with fuck me eyes. And now that you’re here it’s easy to say neither you nor your friend will be getting that cash.
You let out a choked moan as Theo’s hand made way up to your neck and roughly banged your head on the stall door. His thrusts fast and seemingly effortless as they managed to reach that special spot in you without fail each thrust.
“Is this what you do? give any half decent guy you see a condom and fuck me eyes then let them take you in the bathroom like some cock desperate slut?” He degraded. The occasional grunts from his own pleasure just making his words even hotter. It was confusing, he seemed so disgusted in you with one sentence but then the complete opposite the next. “But i doubt it, pussy to good ‘n tight for someone who whores around. Already addicted to your pretty ass pussy.”
He was being so mean and rough. Not even controlling, it was like you were a doll to him. He didn’t care about what you did, like it had no effect on him. Even when your legs around his waist kicked at his back from overstimulation or simply being too much. Or your nails scratching at the fabric of his sweater ‘n pulling some of the threads loose. Your hips banged into the door with each one of thrusts, hard enough to leave bruises.
Theo’s thumb made its way up to your mouth, pushing past the barrier of your lips. “Like this? Practically being used like a doll.”
You could only desperately nod. Your senses completely overwhelmed in such a delicious way.
Your simple and desperate obedience got Theo completely coming undone. Groans leaving his lips while his thrusts grew sloppy. He forced his thumb deeper into your mouth, pressing it against the back of your tongue as a rather sadistic grin formed on his unfairly handsome face.
“God.. you’re fucking mine now alright? Already so obsessed with you..” He’d say through pants before hiding his face into your neck. Sucking hickeys onto the soft skin where anyone would be able to see it before biting roughly into your neck to stifle his groans ‘n moans as he came, his hips stilling in you. Thank lord for a condom.
Your poor little fucked out brain didn’t really process his words, thinking they were said out of nothing but lust so you just babbled agreements. But after all was all said and done and he practically forced you to introduce him to your friends and immediately started acting like you two were officially together, not even allowing you to go home by yourself.
At first you found it hot, most likely due to the alcohol in both yours and his system. But when it continued even after that night it got worrisome, his behaviour getting more and more possessive, even more so after you confronted him about it. And got you hated how your panties got absolutely soaked at the clear red flags.
“No no. I don’t think you get it. I practically own you now, you agreed to that remember? Trust me, no guy would care about you like i do.”

if you fall, i will catch you
for @steddielovemonth day 2 using Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper
rated t | 855 words | no cw | tags: high school, prom, slow dance, flirting, open ending but assumed getting together
🪩🕺💃🪩🕺💃🪩🕺💃🪩💃🕺🪩
Prom is stupid.
Steve didn’t even want to come. He didn’t have a date and nothing is more embarrassing than showing up to prom alone. Even the nerds come as a group, dancing and laughing together.
His mom made an appointment for his suit fitting and he couldn’t really explain to her that there was no need. She still thinks he and Nancy are on track to be married when Nancy graduates high school. He doesn’t know how to tell her that he’ll probably die alone.
Okay, that’s a little dramatic. He’s probably not gonna die alone.
But he may die unhappy, and that’s worse.
Most of the music hasn’t been terrible so far, at least. Only one slow song played and no one seemed interested in dancing to it.
Steve’s a fucking wallflower at his own prom. He never saw this coming.
He figures he could probably escape within the next few songs, no one would even notice his absence. He makes a mental plan to wait until one of the parent chaperones walks back to the other side of the room.
Then he’s off.
He manages to escape to the hall behind the gym, the one that leads to the auditorium and drama class, not the main building of the school. No one should be back here. It’s the perfect escape route.
“Never thought I’d see the day when King Steve is trying to escape prom,” a voice says from the end of the hall. The music from the gym is echoing in here, but the voice is much louder. It’s familiar, too. “Miss Wheeler too busy with Byers to dance?”
It’s Munson. Steve sighs.
“Why are you even here?”
“It’s my senior prom, too! Or should those of us not graduating not be allowed?” Eddie walks closer and Steve sees that he’s actually dressed up. It’s not a designer suit like he’s been forced into, but it’s nice. Eddie looks…nice.
“Wait,” Steve registers what he actually said. “Not graduating?”
“Yep. Apparently quadratic formulas are crucial to my development and I cannot enter society until I understand them.” Eddie kicks his foot across the tile, leaving a scuff mark from shoes that have probably been waxed beyond necessity. “And I guess dissecting a frog and turning in homework may have helped.”
“But aren’t you pretty smart?” Steve thought he was one of those dungeon dweebs like Dustin. Dustin’s the smartest person he knows, without a doubt, kid or not. He thought all the nerds who play that game were like that.
“Sure, I’m smart enough,” Eddie scoffs. “But I don’t play by their rules. I forget to do homework. I argue.”
“But if you know the stuff, they can’t fail you.”
“Ah, but they can. I don’t have the Harrington name to convince them to change a D to a C. It’s all good. Everyone expected it.”
Steve’s brows furrow, forehead creasing as he thinks about how many things people expected of him that won’t happen.
“Just because people expect it doesn’t mean you have to give it to them,” he says.
Eddie’s eyes widen and he seems shocked by Steve’s words. But the shock wears off quickly. Steve wonders if he imagined it.
“Right you are! Very wise words from the king,” Eddie bows dramatically.
Steve laughs.
Eddie glances up, tense until he realizes Steve’s not laughing at him, just at the entertainment. He stands straight and holds out his hand.
“I do believe such wise words should be repaid with a dance,” Eddie puts on a fake British accent, nose pointed to the sky, smirk playing on his lips.
Steve thinks this must be what it’s like to be charmed by someone.
“A dance?” Steve asks. “Here? With me?”
“It would be my honor,” Eddie loses the accent and turns his head back down so he’s looking right at Steve’s eyes. “Miss Lauper wrote this song just for us, after all.”
Steve’s confusion grows until he hears the song coming from the gym. He can only imagine how awkward it must be in the gym while some couples slow dance with chaperones watching their every breath. He reaches out and takes Eddie’s hand.
“The honor is mine, sir Munson,” Steve tries for an accent like Eddie had previously, but it falls flat.
Eddie pulls him close, but hesitates before he puts an arm around his waist. Steve feels breathless all of a sudden, like they’ve rocketed into space and he forgot one of those astronaut suits. He nods, giving permission for Eddie to take the lead.
When Eddie pulls him closer, they’re almost flush against each other.
Steve’s heart is racing.
“I didn’t know you were weird,” Eddie admits quietly. It sounds a lot like admiration. He’s swaying them back and forth gently, and Steve finds it’s easy to lose track of everything but the way Eddie’s hands rest on his body. “It’s nice to see you, Steve.”
It’s a lot more than what it sounds like.
As Cyndi Lauper plays, Steve wonders if this is how his prom was always meant to be spent: in Eddie Munson’s arms, falling.

What about a crack a/b/o fic where the Time Ripper gives Wade a/b/o characteristics bc Logan had them in his universe and they both freak out about it?
…
Wade suddenly leaned close to Logan’s neck—making his hackles immediate rise. It’d been awhile since anyone dared to get close enough to scent Logan, but he was familiar with the entitled behavior. Alphas sniffing around whenever they wanted— sticking their noses in places they shouldn’t.
“Ooo nice cologne! It’s really giving Canadian wild man,” Wade said and leaned away, smiling like he hadn’t just rudely violated Logan’s space. It’s not like he could possible know it reeked of alpha behavior.
Logan glared at him, wary. “I’m not wearing any cologne.”
“Riiiight,” Wade drawled, “so you just naturally smell like freshly fallen snow and pine trees?”
And a subtle hint of burning wood and tobacco, but Wade wasn’t going to mention that. It was obvious Logan smoked like a chimney.
Every bone in Logan’s body tensed. “Yeah? I just smell like this.”
Wade paused; a rare occurrence of thinking before he spoke. If Logan wasn’t yanking his chain, it probably had to do with his mutation. Honestly, Wade expected him to smell more like a wet dog, given the ‘wild animal’ accusations, but he wasn’t complaining. It smelled like the cologne an actor down on their luck would advertise to remind the world of how sexy and manly they were. If Logan chose to douse himself in the Sexy ManTM cologne and hide it under the sink, Wade wasn’t going to throw a fit.
In fact, he might thank him for it. The whole apartment had the smell of Canadian wilderness, just on the side of forest fire. Logan must have sprayed the place (and he meant either literally with a bottle of cologne or like Mary Puppins did sometimes when she felt territorial- if Logan was telling the truth).
“Wow,” Wade said, deciding to let it go just because Logan’s shoulders were up to his ears and his knuckles were tight in a fist.
A sore spot maybe. He wouldn’t question it, even though he really wanted to. Didn’t mean Wade wasn’t going to tease him, though.
“God really does pick favorites, huh?”
Logan huffed and grumbled under his breath, “It’s given me more trouble than it’s worth. Not exactly a gift.”
Logan scent was always potent. Smelly, to most— intoxicating to some. People couldn’t decide if they resented him just for existing and smelling the way he did or if his potent scent gave them a free pass to treat him like he was for sale. More subtle smelling omegas usually got by unnoticed, but nothing about Logan was subtle or allowed him to fly under the radar.
Wade didn’t seem to know what to make of the comment, looking as if he would vocalize a stream of question marks if he could. (How on earth could naturally smelling like the sexiest man alive be a bad thing??) Logan felt a stab of envy, thinking about how lucky Wade was living without the cloud of pheromones in the air and the countless rules based on secondary genders.
Logan also didn’t know what to think about the fact that Wade was only now saying something about his scent. Since he landed in this universe, he was under the impression that no one had pheromones and therefore, no one smelled them either. He decided he’d ask Althea about it tomorrow.
…
I actually have a whole au about it if anyone is interested in this crack idea

tamed - max verstappen (5/4 - epilogue)
୨ৎ : pairing : max verstappen x fem!reader ୨ৎ : synopsis : as whispers in the paddock shift from max verstappen's on-track antics to his unexpected romance with you
୨ৎ : genre : romance, angst, humor ୨ৎ : tws : media scrutiny, public attention, workplace romance, mentions of temper, light teasing ୨ৎ : wc : 1382
part one | part two | part three | part four | epilogue
fast forward a few months, and the paddock buzzed with a very different kind of speculation. the whispers about max’s fiery temper and on-track spats had been replaced with hushed chatter about the two of you. the sharp-edged world of formula 1 had softened ever so slightly, now crackling with curiosity about the driver who seemed to be transforming right before everyone’s eyes.
you and max had settled into this new dynamic with a surprising, almost natural ease. while there were still plenty of playful digs and sarcastic retorts, they were now wrapped in an undeniable intimacy—a bond forged through both the chaos of the paddock and the quiet moments that only the two of you shared.
the other drivers had taken notice too. daniel ricciardo, as mischievous as ever, would throw you exaggerated winks and nudge max with an elbow whenever you passed by. charles leclerc, ever the gentleman, always made sure you had the best seat in the hospitality suite, even if max tried to grumble about it. and even lando norris, the king of cheek, had toned down his teasing just enough to drop the occasional sincere compliment—though, true to form, it was usually followed with a grin and a sly, “don’t tell max.”
later that evening, after the paddock chaos had dwindled, max invited you to join him for a walk along the marina. the sun was dipping low on the horizon, painting the water in shades of gold and orange, and a soft breeze carried the scent of the sea. you thought nothing of it at first—max often liked to escape the buzz of formula 1 when he could. but as the two of you wandered past the quiet rows of yachts, his usual confidence seemed… off.
he kept stealing glances at you, his hands buried deep in his pockets, and his usual sharp wit was replaced with uncharacteristic silence. finally, you decided to break it.
“alright, verstappen,” you teased, nudging him lightly. “you’re being weird. what’s going on?”
max froze mid-step, his face instantly flushing a soft pink. “weird? i’m not being weird,” he said quickly, his voice jumping an octave. “you’re weird.”
you raised an eyebrow, crossing your arms. “really? that’s the best you’ve got?”
he groaned, muttering something in dutch under his breath before turning to you with a determined—albeit slightly panicked—look. “okay, fine. i… i need to say something.”
you tilted your head, fighting back a grin. “go on.”
max looked out at the water, as though hoping the answer to his internal struggle would magically appear in the waves. he then turned back to you, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. “so, uh, you know how you… um… exist?”
you blinked, stifling a laugh. “how i exist?”
“yes! like, you’re here, and you’re… you, and i’m…” he gestured vaguely to himself, his face now beet red. “me. and, uh, that’s good. i mean, it’s great. you’re great.”
you bit your lip to stop yourself from laughing outright. “wow, max. that’s… really something. please, continue.”
he groaned again, raking a hand through his hair. “okay, look. what i’m trying to say is—ugh, why is this so hard?” he stopped walking and turned fully to face you, his hands now animated as he stumbled through his next words. “i like you, alright? not in a ‘you’re my pr manager and keep me from saying stupid stuff in interviews’ way. like, i actually like you. like, in a ‘let’s do non-work things together, and i’ll pay for dinner, and maybe we kiss at the end’ kind of way.”
you stared at him, your lips twitching as you tried not to burst into laughter. “non-work things, huh? very romantic.”
“i’m serious!” he blurted, his hands flying up. “i like you, and i want to take you out. on a date. like a real one. with food. and wine, if you’re into that. or beer. or water, whatever you want!”
by now, you couldn’t hold it in anymore. a laugh escaped you, and max’s face somehow turned even redder.
“stop laughing!” he said, though there was a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. “i’m trying here!”
“i’m sorry,” you managed between giggles. “it’s just… max, that was the most chaotic confession i’ve ever heard.”
he sighed, shaking his head but laughing softly too. “yeah, well, you make me nervous, okay? are you happy now?”
your laughter faded, replaced by a warm, affectionate smile. “max, you don’t have to be nervous around me. and for the record…” you stepped closer, your voice softening. “i like you too.”
his eyes widened slightly, the nervous energy melting away as a slow, relieved smile spread across his face. “you do?”
you nodded, biting your lip to keep from grinning too wide. “i do. but i do have one condition.”
“name it,” he said immediately.
“you’re not allowed to say ‘non-work things’ on our date. ever again.”
max chuckled, finally relaxing as he reached out to take your hand. “deal. but for the record, you’re still weird.”
you rolled your eyes, squeezing his hand as the two of you began walking again. “yeah, yeah. says the guy who just admitted he’s terrified of asking someone out.”
“not terrified,” he corrected with a smirk. “just… bad at it.”
...
one afternoon in monaco, the two of you wandered through the paddock hand in hand, the sun warm on your skin. max glanced down at you, a rare softness in his eyes.
"you know," max said, squeezing your hand gently, "i never thought i'd enjoy having my personal life plastered all over the media."
you laughed, bumping his shoulder playfully. "well, you have me to thank for that. i'm a pr genius, after all."
he chuckled, pulling you closer. "that you are. but it's more than that, y/n. it's… easy with you. even with all the cameras and the gossip, it just feels… right."
you leaned into him, a warmth spreading through you that had nothing to do with the mediterranean sun. "it feels right with you too, max."
as you continued your stroll, you encountered a group of journalists, their cameras clicking and questions flying.
"max, y/n," one reporter called out, "how does it feel to be formula 1's newest power couple?"
max, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, pulled you closer and replied, "well, she hasn't crashed my car yet, so i'd say it's going pretty well."
you rolled your eyes, but you couldn't help but laugh. "very funny, max."
another reporter asked, "y/n, how do you handle max's temper?"
you smiled, glancing up at him with a playful smirk. "let's just say i have my ways of keeping him in line."
max feigned a look of indignation. "hey, i resent that!"
the reporters laughed, scribbling down notes and snapping photos. you and max, comfortable in the spotlight, played along, your banter a mix of genuine affection and playful teasing.
later that evening, as you sat on the balcony of your hotel room, overlooking the sparkling harbor, max turned to you with a soft smile.
"you know," he said, his voice low and sincere, "i never thought i'd find someone who could handle me, who could challenge me, who could make me laugh… and who could tolerate my terrible jokes."
you laughed, leaning your head against his shoulder. "well, you're lucky i have a soft spot for grumpy drivers with questionable humor."
he pulled you closer, his arms wrapping around you in a warm embrace. "i'm the lucky one, y/n. i never thought i'd find someone like you."
you looked up at him, your heart overflowing with love and happiness. "and i never thought i'd fall for someone like you, max verstappen."
he leaned down and kissed you, a soft, lingering kiss that spoke volumes.
as you stood there, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun, you knew that this was more than just a fleeting romance. this was a love story built on mutual respect, playful banter, and a shared passion for life, both on and off the track. and as the formula 1 circus continued its whirlwind journey around the world, you and max would face it together, hand in hand, ready to take on whatever challenges came your way.

Absolutely loving killer Harry! I love how protective of us he is and how just caring and in love he is with us. Though has there ever been a time where he was the one where he desperately needed someone or us for comfort? Has he ever been that vulnerable with us?
Hiii lovey!! So I think 100000% Harry has had moments of insecurity and thinks he’s not enough for you and that’s sort of why he needs you to comfort him a bit! So I hope you enjoy this!!💖

Summary: Harry has a bad day and just needs you to comfort him a bit✨
It’s rare that Harry lets anyone see him at his lowest when the weight of all the horrible things he’s done rests on his shoulders and he feels as if he doesn’t deserve the happiness he’s found in life, the happiness he has all because of you. You’re the one person who has seen Harry in this state, he doesn’t bother putting up a wall with you because you know him too well and while he does keep things from you, such as what he really does for a living, he is actually very forthcoming with his feelings with you because most of the time it’s just him telling you how much he loves you and how you’re the best thing that ever happened to him. But something he’s learned in his years of being with you and especially in the years he’s been married to you is that it’s just as important for him to share how he’s feeling in the not so great moments as well as the happy ones, it’s what helps you understand him a bit more and get to see his more vulnerable side that he doesn’t share with anyone else.
That’s why having Harry’s head resting in your lap while you’re sat at the edge of the bed with him on his knees between your legs isn’t that shocking, you could tell he was feeling a little down the moment he got home from work a few hours earlier. You run a hand through his hair as he lets out a sigh and closes his eyes, the feeling of your nails lightly scratching his scalp making him relax the tiniest bit. He hasn’t said anything to you minus that he loves you but that was as he was getting ready for bed, he’s been silence since then even when he dropped to his knees in front of you while you were putting your lotion on and rested his head in your lap and securely wrapped himself around you and you don’t mind because you know he will talk when he’s ready.
“Can I ask you something?” You look down at him as he mumbles his question into the fabric of your pajama pants.
“You can ask me anything you want.” You tell him as your free hand rests on the top of his shoulder so you can give it a small squeeze.
“Do you think you’ll always love me?” He knows he shouldn’t be asking you this while you have no clue about the horrible things he does and has done in the time you’ve known him but he just needs some reassurance in this very moment so he doesn’t really care how unfair he’s being.
“I know I’ll always love you.” You answer with a smile as you continue running your fingers through his hair. “There’s nothing you could do that would ever make me stop loving you.” Your soft and gentle tone lets him know you mean every word and Harry wants to smile but he can’t because of the guilt he feels knowing that he’s already done plenty of things that would make all the love you have for him fade away and turn into disgust and anger.
“I don’t deserve you.” He says with a sigh as his arms around your middle tighten almost as if he’s afraid that if his hold on you loosens even just the tiniest bit you’ll slip away from him. You feel the corners of your mouth drop at his words, hating that whatever thoughts he’s got swirling around in his mind are making him feel like he’s not good enough. You bring your hand up and place it on his cheek that’s not pressed against your thighs, you softly run your thumb over his cheekbone as your other hand plays with the hair at the back of his neck.
“Well I know you don’t hear this a lot but you’re wrong.” You watch as your words make Harry’s mouth twitch like he’s fighting off a smile. “You deserve me because I deserve you.” You swallow the small lump that’s forming in your throat as you look over at your nightstand that has a photo of you and Harry from your wedding day sitting in a pretty frame next to your lamp.
“No one can love me the way you do. No one can make me feel like I’m the most important person in the whole world the way you do. No one can protect me the way you do. So you saying you don’t deserve me is like you’re trying to tell me I don’t deserve the kind of happiness that I only get when I’m with you.” Harry’s eyes open as soon as he hears you sniffle and you don’t even have time to wipe away the few tears that have escaped before he’s sitting up making your hands fall into your lap while his come up to gently cup the sides of your face, his thumbs softly wiping away the tears for you.
“You deserve all the happiness in the world.” He tells you with as much softness he can muster as he feels his heart begin to crack at the sight of you getting upset because you just want him to know how loved he makes you feel. While he’s glad he makes you feel this way he also hates that a part of him knows the reason he goes so overboard with his love and affection for you is because he thinks maybe if he treats you the best he possibly can you won’t want to leave the moment you find out the monster he really is.
“And I get that when I’m with you.” Harry hates knowing your happiness is tied up in being with him because he knows there’s a small possibility that somewhere down the line he won’t be able to be around anymore, either because a job goes wrong or someone stumbles upon his preferred burial site that holds more than a few skeletons of his. “Is there something wrong that we need to work on? Are you not-”
“No baby there’s nothing wrong.” He says quickly stopping you from asking any other questions because he can’t stand the thought of you thinking you have anything to do with his mood this evening. “I just sometimes think this-this life we’ve made with each other is almost too good to be true and-and I get in my head about how one day you’re going to realize how fucked up I am and you’ll run for the hills.” His thumbs are still softly rubbing over your cheeks as he finally lets you in on the types of things that have been rolling around in his mind lately.
“I already know how fucked up you are Harry.” His eyes stare into yours as you bring your hands up and rest them on top of his. “You wake up before the sun rises to work out. You also prefer cold showers unless I’m joining you and force you to take a hot one. You are so organized I don’t even know where half our stuff even is. And you eat beans on toast. You’re an actual freak.” You explain with a small sniffle while you wrap your hands around his wrists, Harry appreciates your attempt at trying to change the mood of the conversation because he doesn’t know how much longer he can watch tears slip down your face.
“But you love me right?” He asks as he leans in to place a kiss to your forehead.
“I’ll never love anyone the way I love you so don’t think even for a minute that I’ll ever leave you okay?” Harry just nods as you give his wrists a squeeze and that’s when you notice his eyes have gotten a little misty. “I promise I’m not going anywhere.” You reassure him as you move your hands from his wrist and up to his face while his hands drop to your shoulders.
“Good.” You smile as you feel him lean into your touch. “You mean everything to me you know that right?” You give him a small nod as you hear the emotion in his voice. “I love you.” He says softly as you lean in and rest your forehead against his as a few stray tears roll down his face. “I’m sor-” Harry’s apology is cut off by the feeling of your lips on his in a sweet kiss.
“I love you too.” You mumble against his lips as his hands slip into your hair keeping your face close to his. “You don’t have to apologize to me. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Harry closes his eyes for a moment as you take your thumbs and wipe away the last of his tears while he take a few seconds to let your words sink in, ignoring the ever present guilt that wants to work its way up his chest and into his throat so he can come clean and just tell you everything he’s done wrong that would make you change your mind and demand an apology and probably a divorce from him.
But Harry decides that while yes he does unspeakable things and hurts people for a living, there’s a reason he walked into the cafe you worked at all those years ago and maybe it was because the universe or whatever it may be knew you were exactly what he needed in his life. He felt lost before he met you, just going through the motions of life with no real purpose until you came along and gave him one. That’s why he will always drop whatever he’s doing if you need him because your happiness is his main priority and it’s the same reason he’d leave and make sure you never saw him again if you ever do decide to be done with him.
He hasn’t ever loved anyone as much as he loves you and as he leans in and places a kiss to your lips he knows you love him just as much when he feels you pull him closer when you think he’s about to pull away, not wanting him to get too far but you have nothing to worry about because Harry isn’t going anywhere. The two of you are it for each other and he feels a sense of relief wash over him as that realization hits him, momentarily putting him at ease.
“You really think I’m a freak because of the beans on toast thing?” He teases once you actually allow him to pull away and you roll your eyes as he places little kisses to the tip of your nose and then both cheeks.
“Yes.” He smiles as you run a hand through his hair. “But you’re my freak.”
“Oh really? And here I was thinking you were my little freak.” He chuckles at the way your cheeks get pink as he leans down and gives you a quick peck making you smile when he pulls away. It’s a smile that makes Harry’s heart want to burst because it’s the smile you give him when he can tell you’re truly happy and that’s all Harry wants, he just wants to be able to make you smile like that for as long as he can.

⋆.˚ call it what you want.
in which proplayer!sae could care less about what the media was calling you two, if it means being with you again
warnings: none // wc: 647
note: fem reader! badly proofread
the star midfielder of re al, itoshi sae, has a spotless reputation. there wasn't a single stain on his image, not one rumor or dating scandal. it was a matter of heated debate online; there were multiple twitter threads regarding sae's love life. was he truly single? perhaps not into women at all? did he have a secret relationship with another celebrity? if he did, he was remarkably good at never being caught.
so when a photograph of sae leading a girl to a secluded room, shot at an angle where one could only see a flash of glimmering hair, goes viral, the entire internet was wholly appalled.
sae scoffs as you read another article from your phone's news feed to him. "hey, look at this!" your tone is joking as you point towards the device's screen. "they're questioning if i'm some top hollywood celeb. is it because i dyed my hair recently?"
"love, that's stupid. you know dispatch reports more lies than truths." he replies, nose wrinkling at the thought. sure, you were beautiful, more so than any actress, but he really didn't enjoy all of the media speculation he recieved. was it so wrong of him to want something normal, to have a private relationship?
you'd known sae since before he went to spain, when you were just two simple kids trying to go through life the right way. when he had left, it'd caused a huge buzz in your town, japan finally receiving international attention for football. and you'd long since been regarded as sae's closest friend, so everyone was clamoring to ask you: would he ever come back? the drama queens threw their fits (sae had no shortage of admirers even then), many people called you a liar when you said that you didn't know, the pressure caused you to isolate yourself—done with how nosy the world was being. and of course, you missed sae more than anything. you'd mindlessly twist your fingers through the silver necklace he gifted you right before his flight, the 冴 character shining in the pale moonlight. no one else knew the words he'd suddenly whispered into your ears before he boarded without sparing a glance back; "i love you, i'll swear i'll see you again."
you'd kept that necklace for years, until itoshi sae appeared in japan once more, to play for a mysterious soccer match; and a front row ticket was mysteriously sent to your email. which you had never changed from before he left. nervous anticipation floods you, you were about to see your best friend who you hadn't heard from in years. when you finally spot him on the field, he looked nothing less than a daydream, dark pink locks impossibly perfect even against the wind and sweat. as he's being introduced, sae's gaze somehow found you amongst the crowd—you might have died. though he knew you would show up, he couldn't help but look for extra assurance. and you couldn't have predicted the whirl of events that happened after. his manager pulling you aside, saying that "itoshi sae needs to meet you," sae walking towards you with his head down, evidently trying to avoid the paparazzi, grabbing your hands and guiding you into an empty interviewing room; teal eyes glimmering with unsaid words.
your lips inevitably crashed into each other, you both had heard the cameras click and seen the flash of brilliant white, but none of you cared. "at least i did one thing right," is what sae had murmured after a few minutes, deft fingers tracing across your cheeks. his eyes flickered over the chain he gave you, one you'd never taken off. the media could call it what they wanted, because in that moment it was only you and sae. though perhaps it had always been that way—all it took was for one of you to see it.
a/n: dude i'm so obsessed w this song rn. also i finally stopped slandering sae who would've thought this day would come so soon!

Priority
Word count: 4.2k
Warnings: none
Summary: Bodhi is in love with you. Hopelessly in love. Unfortunately for him he can't say anything about it.
If you asked Bodhi when he first met you two things were certain. One, he would tilt his head to the side and raise an eyebrow in question. Two, he would give a small shrug of his shoulder before saying “Uh I don’t know?”. His statement always sounded more like a question. In his defence why would he know the answer to that question. There is no point in time where Bodhi can pinpoint the moment you entered his life. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on who you asked, you have always been there. Always a constant in his life and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Oh come on Bo don’t be like this.” You tilt your head slightly, your lashes batting so strongly he swears that there is a draft in here. Bodhi doesn’t budge, he keeps his arms crossed over his chest with a slight twitch in his clenched jaw. “You know I didn’t mean it right?” The teasing in your voice softens, just a little, just enough to know you really didn’t mean anything by your comment. “As cool as Xaden is, I could never replace you with him.” You pause for a moment before adding “His ego is too big for me.” Bodhi glances down at where you were sitting on the ground next to the chair he was sitting in. Bodhi wanted to say something sarcastic right back at you, but he couldn’t, the jealousy burning in his throat wouldn’t allow him to. Even if he could say anything he wouldn’t be able to; the way you were looking up at him, like you needed him to know you were only joking. Like what he thought truly mattered to you, it rendered him speechless.
Your friends- Liam, Garrick, Xaden and himself were spread out in Xadens room talking about nothing and everything all at once. Garrick being the instigator he is just had to ask you who you would pick to be stranded with and of course you being you said his cousin. He knew you were just trying to mess with him. To get under his skin. And it worked, of course it did. Bodhi would never admit it to anybody but he felt like he was always walking in Xadens shadow. Always second best, never good enough to be picked first. Your lighthearted teasing didn't make him feel any better, not when the jealousy hit harder than it ever had before.
Bodhi said nothing as you stared up at him. He stared down at you as you looked up at him, a frown was starting to replace your teasing smile. He hated that look, despised it really. If there was one thing he couldn’t stand, it was seeing you sad. “Are you really going to give me that look?” he muttered, and you didn’t miss the annoyance painting his voice. But the moment he finally looked at you again you knew he truly didn’t mean it. With your eyes locked onto his nothing else in the room existed besides you. God he could never be mad at you, not when you look at him like that.
The glare he sent Garrick wasn’t missed by you but you couldn’t help yourself when you leaned your body to rest fully against his leg. Placing your head against his thigh. Bodhi would never reject your touch, not when it was so familiar. He craved the feeling of your body against his, more often then he would care to admit. With Bodhi ignoring you, Liam picked up the conversation, you were trying to listen but all of your attention was on Bodhi. Truly you felt bad about hurting his feelings. While he would never admit that you did, you could see it in the way his jaw set, hands flexing against his arms and his eyes flickering away from yours to hide his hurt. Bodhi could feel the guilt coming off of you in waves. Without even thinking about it he gently brushes his fingers through your hair. He may be talking to Garrick but you knew his attention was on you. This was his way of letting you know that he accepted your apology. The words “i’m sorry” never tumbled out of your lips but the way you leaned further into him and periodically glanced up at him in worry was an apology to him. Words weren’t needed, they never have been, at least not between the two of you.
“Bo?” The light nudge against his legs pulls his eyes away from Garrick and back to you. “Yeah?” His response was equally as quiet as yours was. His voice felt thick with an emotion he refused to acknowledge. He didn’t stop his ministrations. Instead he found that spot behind your ear and rubbed gentle circles on it before resting his hand on the base of your neck. His fingers still tangled in your hair. “Ya’ know I would never replace you right?” The guilt mixed with an undercurrent of pleading broke his heart. “I know sweetheart.” His whispered words sound a little rough even to him. But he meant what he said. Gently he squeezes the back of your neck in an unspoken promise. He wasn’t going anywhere, no matter what you were to follow.
“You couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.” His words were an afterthought but he meant them. Bodhi bent forward slightly to reach eye level with you. His other hand that wasn’t tangled in your hair cupped your cheek softly turning your face to look at him. The limited space between you forces a sharp inhale of air into your lungs. Bodhi didn’t miss your near silent gasp or the way your eyes flickered over his face before looking at his lips and then back to his eyes. “Sweetheart I’m gonna need you to stop worrying in that pretty little head of yours, ok?” His voice was quiet but you felt them as if they had been screamed at you. That nickname he gave you never failed to make your heart skip a beat. He watched as you took in a shaky breath before lightly nodding your head. “Ok.” Glancing between your eyes he waited until he saw the guilt slip away and he swore love replaced it.
He needed to pull away, put some space between the two of you before he did something he would regret. Leaning forward just a bit more he angled your head up just slightly so he could place a kiss against your hairline. His lips lingered for a moment before pulling away. His eyes found yours again and you saw the small smirk forming on his lips. Maybe he should have kissed you on the lips he thinks to himself, especially with the way a flush of red makes its way to your cheeks. He wonders what would happen if he kissed you. After a light tap against your cheek he removes his hand and sits back in his chair, refocused on the conversation you hadn’t been aware of. His hand never leaves your hair though. With Bodhi’s focus back on whatever conversation was happening you lay your head back down onto his leg. The gentle kiss you place against his leg is enough for his brain to short circuit. The glide of his hand in your hair stops mid stroke. Bodhi feels his breath hitch in his throat while he was frozen for a second. Without thinking he hand tightens its hold on your hair before releasing once more.
Bodhi has never been more grateful to not have your eyes on him. The way his jaw tightens. The way his chest rises and falls just a little bit quicker than it should for sitting in a chair. He had to close his eyes for a moment to collect himself. Bodhi knew he was protective of you, maybe even a little obsessed with you but god damn if he wasn’t in love with you. Bodhi's heart sang from the feeling of your lips against his body. And he hates to admit it but for a second he thought about what your lips would feel like against his leg without pants blocking your way. After taking the moment to collect himself he clears his throat pulling your attention back to him.
The way you bat your eyes at him in anticipation causes him to clear his throat yet again. “I know you were joking but just don’t do that again ok baby?” He chuckles softly at the way your eyes widen and cheeks flush even brighter while casting your eyes downward in hopes to hide the shock you are feeling. There is nothing Bodhi loves more than seeing that shy bashful smile grace your lips all because of him.
“Where the hell is she?” Cuirs talons curled into the wet stone as Bodhi's voice rang out across the flight field. The grey clouds unleashed gallons of freezing droplets of rain upon every rider. Constricting leathers tightened with their newfound water weight. Across the blurred Bodhi could make out the red and brown dragon that was a part of your group but the emerald green scorpion tail dragon he was so used to seeing was nowhere to be found. Everyone from the training exercise had returned. Everyone but you. Time seemed to slow to a screeching halt as Bodhi took in the field before him. Short quick breaths pounded against his ribcage. Panic raised with bail in the back of his throat. “No..no” A panicked gasp of air cut off his train of thoughts. He was the only person who hadn’t dismounted. “Xaden! Garrick!” Bodhi could hear the raw desperation in his voice, he knew that other riders had heard it too, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. Not when everyone had returned but you. He would follow you to the end of the world without you ever having to ask him. It was no surprise to his two closest friends that he was willing to bring the wrath of the professors upon himself by defying orders and heading back out. He would do anything to find you. And if he found you- no he wouldn’t let himself think about that.
The terror gripping his voice propelled his friends back to their own dragons. Both men had done a quick scan of the field and knew what was wrong. They would have known without even having to look. Bodhi never lost control of himself no matter what. Unless it involved you, then all bets were off. Bodhi couldn’t control his protective instincts even when he tried. So he stopped trying.
Just as Garrick and Xaden were about to remount the powerful distinct sound of dragon wings could be heard approaching from a distance. Only one thing could be possible. You were returning with Aella. Once again time seemed to slow down. Minutes felt like hours. Every second that passed felt like a lifetime. The fall of rain seemed to double within seconds blurring his vision even more than it already was. Howling wind whipped the rain in all directions forcing other riders to lower their heads or raise their arms to at least protect their faces. Bodhi did neither. He wouldn’t not when the sound of wind being beaten into submission by powerful and strong wings could be heard from mere miles away. You were coming. He could feel it in his bones. It had to be you- there was no other possibility for Bodhi. Finally there was a shadow of a dragon and the vice grip his ribs had on his lungs loosened allowing him to take a deeper breath just by a fraction. Green. He saw green. It was a muted green but it was green nonetheless.
Dark grey heavy clouds limited his visibility but he knew what he saw. Rain was being pelted down towards the earth with the force of Aellas wings. Bodhi was a part of those that were in Aellas path but he could not care less. Not if that meant you were safe. He would stand under the frozen dagger feeling rain for his whole life if that meant you were safe. Gracefully Aella landed in the middle of the flight field where most of the other dragons had previously occupied it. He was moving before he even knew he was. He was on Cuir one moment and the next he was sliding down his own green dragon without an ounce of grace. “Y’n!” The waiver in his voice didn’t stop, no, it traveled throughout his whole body. The waiver transformed into different things. Trembling hands, burning eyes from unshed tears and lungs that were on fire from how quickly he was running towards you.
Something was wrong. If anyone possed elegance and grace even in the world of dragon riding it was you. The clumsy tumble down Aellas leg combined with the way you landed with a thud forcing you to roll onto your shoulder to prevent yourself from breaking a bone was anything but normal for you. Sharp painful breaths pumped his legs faster. He had to be faster. He couldn’t get to you soon enough. After what couldn’t have been more than two minutes Bodhi was finally in front of your bent over body. You were tipped over at the hips facing the ground. Both of your elbows rested upon your legs while you cradled your head in your heads. Something was wrong. Without thinking Bodhi unraveled your body forcefully crashing your body into his chest. “Thank god you are ok. I thought…. I thought you were.” Bodhi couldn't bring himself to say the words, not when his eyes burned and his lungs ached and he couldn’t stop the way his hands were shaking. “Are you ok?” He pulled your body away from his slightly to scan your body for injuries. Subconsciously his hands moved to cup your cheeks. “What's wrong baby? I need to know so I can help. But you gotta tell be baby.” Whispered words tumbled from his lips causing your eyes to meet his. Wordlessly you gripped his hands and pulled them away from his face. Silently he watched as you unzipped your flight jacket and pulled the side of your shirt up exposing a large bleeding gash decorating your skin.
“Who did this to you?” It wasn’t a question. It was a demand. Nobody touched you. Nobody dug their dragger along your skin and didn’t pay for it. Bodhi was going to kill whoever did this to you. That was a promise. Bodhi was unable to pull his eyes away from your side as he spoke. “Sweetheart we need to get you to the healers, ok?” Your silence forced his eyes back towards yours. Water was pooling on your waterline and your lips where shaking in pain. Tenderly he pulled you back into his chest. One of his hands found purchase in your sopping wet hair while the other rested upon your neck. “It’s ok I’ve got you baby. I’ve got you. I won’t let anything like this happen to you again I promise.”
Bodhi hadn’t moved from the chair in his room. He couldn’t bring himself to, not when you were laying in his bed. Sleep had pulled you away from him. Not that he could blame you of course. He would never blame you. “Bo?” Your quiet voice pulled his attention away from his plot for revenge and onto you. “Yeah sweet girl?” He matched his voice to yours not wanting to destroy the peaceful environment that your presence had created. Outside his window it was pitch black but inside of his room warm flickers of light bounced around the room casting you in a beautiful light. Granted you were always beautiful in his eyes but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t enjoy what was before him. Wordlessly you watched as he made his way over to his bed. He perched himself on the edge of the bed right by your hip. Your watchful eyes traced his movement until you couldn’t. His hands where once again in your hair. Carefully he moved his hand down until it rested on your neck. He couldn’t help himself from touching your cheek. Lightly his thumb ran back and forth against your cheek.
“Will you lay with me?” His room was not warm by any means but suddenly it felt like a hundred degrees warmer and he felt the blood rise to his face. He was sure that there was a flush to his face. He had laid in bed with you a thousand of times before so he wasn’t sure why he was suddenly nervous. Deep down he knew why. Some part of your relationship with him had changed and he wasn’t sure what that meant. He wasn’t sure if he had to prepare to mourn all the ways he wished he could of had you. Swallowing the lump in his throat he glances out the window and follows the path of a raindrop along the window until he couldn’t follow it anymore. Turning back to your he finds your sharp eyes already resting upon him. Forcefully he cleared his throat once more before answering. “Of course, you never have to ask me that.” His voice wasn’t a whisper but it wasn’t normal speaking volume either.
Gently he pulls back the blanket helping you scooch over in the bed making more space for him before he climbed in. With a wince you pull yourself up and pat the pillow behind your head. Expectantly you look at him. A laugh falls from his lips “You could of just said you wanted to use my arm as a pillow you know that right?” The shake of his head does nothing to move his smile. “Why would I do that? You should know this by now.” Your words floated into the space above him. “You’re right I should know better.” This time it's a huff of air that leaves you instead. Bodhi missed the sound of your laugh but he knew it would be too painful for you to laugh at the moment so he enjoyed what he had. “Obviously I’m always right.” Your words were cut off with a wince. Bodhi went to push himself up so he could help you move but you shook your head and placed your palm on his chest.
Following your silent command he lays back down to his previous position, A soft grunt and a heavy sigh of relief later you were pressed against his side. One of your legs crossed against his chest and the other rested against his leg. Your head rested on his chest right above his heart. He waited until you were comfortable to move. Softly he moves to rest one hand below the cut on your side while the other finds its way to your bare leg. Absentmindedly his thumb begins to rub patterns along your leg. A few minutes of silence had passed before your voice filled the room. “Bo?” Slowly he opens his eyes to find yours are already looking at him. “Yeah?’ His eyes traced over your face while you fought to find the right words. He always knew you were stunning but here in his room with the gentle light dancing upon your face, your beauty took his breath away. “What happened out there Bodhi? The use of his first name caught his attention before the rest of your words did. You only used his first name when you were serious. “Huh?”
The words tumbled out of his lips before he could even stop them. Internally he cringes at his answer. “What happened out there with you? I’ve never seen you like that before. You were so- so panicked. You never panic.” Bodhi knew in this moment that it was now or never. He had been so close to telling you out on the flight field but he couldn’t not when you desperately needed to be seen by the healers. Bodhi sucked in a deep breath in hopes of calming his nerves. It did not. “I panicked because it was you. You hadn’t come back. Everyone was back but you and just the thought alone of something having happened to you worried me sick. But then you finally showed up, right as I was about to go searching you for and at first all I felt was relief. Until I watched you dismount from Aella and then the fear took over all over again. I could tell something was wrong but I didn’t know what it was and all I could think about was something finally taking you from me. And I… I can’t stand that thought. It makes me sick.” Bodhi's words came to a stop but still you said nothing. You could tell that there was more he wanted to say, more he needed to say, but he needed the space to find the right words. Without realizing it you had begun to rub soothing circles on bodhi's chest. Bodhi felt the warmth of your hand against his chest. The gentle comforting touch of your hand upon him was more than he could ask for.
“I am so in love with you. I have been for years. I could never bring myself to tell you. I worried about what it would do to our relationship but after seeing you like that. I can’t hold it in anymore.” Bodhi's hand encased yours pulling it to rest on his cheek but he didn’t remove his hand. If this is the last time he gets to have you like this he was going to take every moment presented to him. “I love you. And I understand if you don't feel the same. But I can;t keep it in anymore. I am so incredibly in love with you.” A beat of silence passed while your eyes bounce between his lips and eyes. Finally after what felt like forever a laugh rang out into the once silent room. Out of all the reactions Bodhi was expecting this was definitely not one of them. His raised eyebrow did all the talking for him.
“Oh Bo.” A sigh mixed with a breathless laugh tumbled from your lips. “We are such idiots. I am in love with you too. I have been since I met you but I never said anything because I was worried about it not working out.” A laugh of disbelief rumbled in his chest. He removed his hand from your wrist to rub his eyes for a long moment before laughing again. He pulled his hand down his face before placing it back on your thigh. “I can’t believe this. I have been on the verge of losing my mind for a year and a half because I was worried just for this to happen.” Bodhi shakes his head in disbelief once more. Even though he wished he had known this information earlier he didn’t mind. Not if it meant what he hoped it did. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?” Giggling, you lightly shook your head. Even though the movement was gentle it was enough to push a few hairs into your face. Without thinking he pulled his hand away from your leg and brought it out from the blanket to push your hair behind your ear. God he could never get used to the sight in front of him.
A bashful smile painted your face along with a deep blush. “I was way too nervous to tell you first.” Your answer pulled a laugh from the two of you. After a few seconds both of your laughter had died down leaving silence to fill its space instead. “So I should have grown a pair and done it first a long time ago is what you're saying.” The slight shrug of your shoulders didn’t match the coy smile you were sporting. “You said it not me.” Once again you shrugged not before laughing again. This time it was against the pec of his chest. “So I should always make the first move, is what I’m hearing?” Quickly you glanced up to find his eyes already upon you. Shifting you move to hide more of your face in his chest but he doesn’t let you get far. “I mean if that's how you feel that it then sure.” Bodhi knew when you got shy you tried to hide from prying eyes but fortunately for him he wasn’t subject to the same rules as everybody else. Softly his hand finds its rightful place against your cheek and neck. The gentle guide of his hands pulls your face up to his. You watch as his eyes drop to your lips before coming back up. “Well if that's the case then you won’t have any problem with this.” Bodhi lifted himself while bringing your face closer to his. With one last look at your eyes wide in surprise he closes his own eyes when he felt the softness of your lips against his own. Slowly your lips found a rhythm against Bodhis and he swore there was no better feeling in the world than this.
Finally when both of you ran out of air did you pull away from each other. Bodhi was watching you when your eyelids finally peeled apart from each other. “I think you should do that again just so I can make sure there is no problem.” The laugh that tumbled out of Bodhi was loud and full of joy. He could feel the smirk on his face but he made no move to stop it. Not when you were looking at him like that. Right before your lips met his .That laugh that he loved graced the room once again. He would hate to cut off the laugh that he loves so much but the feel of your lips against his takes priority.

a/n: thank yunho's tiddie for getting this chapter across the finish line
“I need to speak with you,” you hissed to your brother as you approached the group of other hunters. Yeosang turned, one hand steadying the reins of his horse, his expression shifting from curiosity to mild annoyance at your tone.
“Can this wait? The hunt is about to start,” he said, gesturing subtly toward the assembled group. Riders were mounting their horses, hounds were being corralled ahead and the air alive with murmurs of anticipation.
“No,” you snapped, grabbing his arm before he could brush you off. “Not when it might involve our family.”
“Alright.” He exhaled through his nose, glancing briefly at the others before steering you aside, away from prying eyes and ears. The cluster of hunters faded into the background as the two of you walked briskly toward the edge of the field.
“What’s this about?”
You glanced over your shoulder, scanning the group of hunters in the distance to make sure no one was within earshot.
“I overheard something while I was in the stables,” you began, your chest tightening as you replayed the conversation. “There were a few stablehands talking about the fire at the Choi estate. I don’t think it was an accident.”
“That’s a bold claim,” he said, narrowing his eyes. He studied your face carefully, searching for any trace of exaggeration. As a child your wild imagination had driven your tutors to the brink, and even now, you could tell that your brother wasn’t fully convinced.
“Yeosang, I wouldn’t be telling you if I wasn’t! They said whoever burned the estate was paid off.”
“Paid off by who?”
“I don’t know,” you admitted, your tone tinged with frustration. “They didn’t say. But they did mention something else.” You hesitated, swallowing hard before you forced the words out.
“The Parks might be next.”
“The Parks?”
You nodded, your throat tightening as you saw the realization dawn in his eyes. “Look, whoever’s behind this isn’t just going after one family—they’re working their way through the ton. Who isn’t to say that we’d be next.”
“And you’re sure that’s what you heard? Not just some stablehands gossiping about nonsense?”
“I know what I heard,” you said firmly, meeting his gaze with conviction.
“There were three of them, they sounded nervous, like they knew something they shouldn’t!”
Yeosang sighed. “If what you’re saying is true, we need more than just words. We need proof.”
At his words, your shoulders slumped, the determination you had clung to crumbling under the cold weight of reality. Proof. Of course, he was right. But where were you supposed to find it? How could you, when the rules of your world kept you firmly under watch, always one step away from being dismissed as nothing more than a hysterical woman with an overactive imagination? Especially a spinster, nonetheless.
You opened your mouth to protest, to beg him to take action now instead of waiting, but before you could speak, the call of the hunt master’s horn reverberated through the air, signaling the start of the chase.
Yeosang’s head snapped toward the sound, and his brow furrowed. “The hunt is starting,” he said quietly, his voice tinged with regret. He glanced back at you, his expression softening slightly.
“We’ll revisit this later.”
You inhaled deeply, willing yourself to swallow your frustration. “Fine,” you said curtly, your voice clipped as you forced the word out.
Yeosang gave you a small nod before turning to mount his horse. You trudged back to the stablehand, who was holding Darcy ready for you. You swung yourself into the saddle and adjusted your grip on the reins before departing with the rest of the riders.
The party moved smoothly into action, the steady rhythm of galloping hooves and excited murmurs weaving through the forest as they ventured deeper into the woods. From the treetops birds, startled by the thundering hooves, scattered as the scent of earth filled the air.
Yunho rode just ahead of you, his posture effortlessly confident, flanked by your brother and Park Seonghwa. The group was focused, each rider scanning the dense underbrush with sharp eyes and heightened senses, poised to react at the slightest hint of movement.
The pace of the group slowed as they approached a small clearing, the riders fanning out to search for any signs of movement in the brush. You guided your horse forward, keeping to the edge of the group, scanning the treeline intensely.
“Miss Kang,” a voice drawled.
You wrinkled your nose and tightened your grip on the reins. Who was this man? What was his name again? Did it even matter? Probably not.
“Surely this isn’t the place for someone as delicate as you,” he continued condescendingly. “Shouldn’t you leave the hunt to the men? A lady like you has no business out here.”
“Indeed,” his companion chimed in. “Perhaps you’d allow one of us to escort you back to the manor. It would be such a shame if you were startled by the prey, or worse, injured.”
Your jaw tightened, and for a brief moment, you considered playing the role of the delicate lady. But who are you kidding? You’re the daughter of the late Earl Kang.
“Forgive me, gentlemen,” you said, voice thick with mock sincerity. “I didn’t realize children were allowed on this hunt.”
One of them bristled, his nostrils flaring, no doubt ready to retaliate with some clever insult. But when he opened his mouth, nothing came out, only a stuttered breath. The second man’s reaction was quicker, though not any less telling. He adjusted his gloves, a futile attempt to reassert his dignity after your jab as if that alone could restore his pride.
San, standing just behind you, let out a soft snort of amusement, his arms crossed as he watched the scene unfold.
The man scoffed, clearing his throat. “There’s no shame in recognizing one’s limitations,” he muttered, eyes narrowing as though waiting for you to cower.
“Ah, so you have recognized yours,” you shot back smoothly. “Admission is the first step to improvement.”
“Why you–”
“Is there a problem?”
Yunho’s horse appeared at your side, his usually warm, playful demeanor completely gone. In its place was something colder and dangerous. His head tilted slightly, the subtle movement more menacing than any overt threat. It was a warning, a reminder that he wasn’t someone to trifle with.
Muttering excuses to themselves, they retreated to a safer distance, throwing one last, half-hearted glare in your direction before disappearing down the trail.
“Are you alright?”
You nodded curtly, but the tension bristling between San and Yunho made your irritation flare. They didn’t need to shield you like this, not from every little interaction.
“I appreciate the gesture gentlemen, but I’m fine,” you huffed.
Men, you thought irritably. Always so dramatic.
“I don’t mean to interrupt your posturing, but the hounds have picked up a scent,” Yeosang called, his tone dry as he pulled up beside you on his horse.
The horses shifted restlessly, sensing the change in atmosphere, their hooves stamping against the earth. Norman barked once, his tail wagging eagerly as he waited for your command.
You swung down from your horse in one fluid motion, landing lightly on the ground. “Norman, to me,” you ordered.
The fox terrier obeyed immediately, bounding to your side, his nose twitching as he caught the trail of the beast. A flurry of motion erupted as a fox darted from the underbrush, its red coat flashing in the sunlight as it bolted toward the far side of the clearing.
The hounds sprang to life, their barks rising in excitement as they surged forward, noses to the ground. Riders shouted commands to their mounts, urging them into motion, the clearing erupting into chaos.
You wasted no time charging forward after Norman, who was already disappearing into the brush. The sound of pounding hooves and snapping branches filled the air as you pushed ahead. The shouts and hoofbeats of the others faded behind you, swallowed by the thick forest as you slowed Darcy to a halt near a narrow stream, dismounting quickly as Norman paused to sniff the air.
“Good boy,” you murmured, patting Darcy’s neck before tying his reins to a low-hanging branch.
The fox’s trail was fresh, and Norman was eager, his nose glued to the ground as he tracked it toward the underbrush. You followed him on foot, your boots crunching softly against the forest floor. The stillness of the woods wrapped around you, broken only by the distant rustle of leaves and Norman’s occasional barks. You were alone now, the rest of the party far behind, but you welcomed the solitude.
Or so you thought.
⊹
You cast another glance over your shoulder, now thoroughly exasperated, and picked up your pace again. San, undeterred, matched your strides easily, his legs longer than yours.
“Why are you following me?” you snapped, whipping around to fully face him.
“I’m not following you,” San replied smoothly, his tone light but with a teasing edge.
“I’m following Norman.”
The words had slipped out before he could stop them, and for a second, San faltered, wondering if he’d gone too far. The last thing he wanted was to dig himself deeper into the mess he’d already made. He hadn’t meant to say it, hadn’t meant to turn this into another jab, but his instinct for banter had betrayed him.
Did you really think he was just trying to irritate you? Probably. But the truth was, San missed this, missed you. Missed the way your quick wit always kept him on his toes, how you never backed down from a verbal sparring match. It was the only way he knew how to bridge the gap that had grown between you.
You huffed, turning away with an incredulous shake of your head. “Unbelievable,” you muttered under your breath.
“Y/N?”
You froze, glancing over your shoulder to see San emerging from the thicket, his horse nowhere in sight. His dark hair was disheveled, strands sticking to his forehead, and his jacket was dusted with leaves and dirt.
His horse was nowhere to be seen.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, narrowing your eyes at him.
He hesitated, glancing around the clearing as if searching for an answer. “Just… making sure the others aren’t bothering you,” he said, his voice casual but not entirely convincing.
You sighed, crossing your arms.
“It’s not my fault the forest looks the same from every direction!”
You didn’t need San’s company, didn’t want it, even, but for now, you had no choice but to tolerate it. And if his sense of direction caused you any more trouble, you’d have no qualms about leaving him behind.
“I could shoot you here, and no one would hear it,” you declared flatly as San tailed you.
“I’d expect nothing less from you,” he replied, raising his hands in a mock gesture of surrender.
You rolled your eyes and turned away, resuming your focus on Norman, who was sniffing diligently at the ground ahead. The hound’s tail wagged as he caught onto a stronger scent, oblivious to the tension brewing behind him.
Norman barked sharply, drawing your attention. He darted forward, his nose glued to the ground, and you quickly followed, stepping over a fallen log as you trailed him deeper into the woods.
The trail grew narrower, the canopy above thickening until only slivers of sunlight broke through. Norman led the way, his excitement palpable, while San followed close behind, occasionally glancing around as if trying to memorize the route, though you suspected it wouldn’t help him in the slightest.
His footsteps crunched softly against the forest floor as he kept pace a few steps behind you. Neither of you spoke, but you were keenly aware of his presence, and it irritated you more than you cared to admit.
“The forest is quieter here than I expected,” he said, his tone casual.
You didn’t look back. “That’s how forests work.”
“Right.” He paused, then added, “Still, it’s nice. Peaceful, in a way.”
You huffed a noncommittal sound, keeping your eyes fixed ahead as Norman barked excitedly. He darted toward a cluster of dense underbrush, his body low to the ground as if ready to pounce.
“Norman, hold!” you commanded sharply, stepping forward to grab his collar before he could move any closer.
The terrier froze, ears pricked, gazing at you in confusion. You crouched, parting the brush to uncover the source of his alertness: a small den nestled beneath the roots of a massive tree, concealed by a tangle of brambles and leaves. Inside, tiny, wiggling shapes huddled together—fox kits.
Their tiny bodies were pressed together for warmth, and one stirred, its ears twitching as it let out a small, sleepy yawn before nestling back into the pile.
San crouched beside you, his expression softening as he observed the scene. “They’re just babes,” he murmured.
You nodded, tightening your grip on Norman. The hound stood tense, muscles coiled, awaiting a command to chase. Yet he remained obedient, ears twitching at the soft sounds of the kits shifting.
“Come,” you said, your voice quieter now. “We’re turning back.”
The forest around you was still, save for the occasional rustle of leaves in the wind and the distant baying of hounds further ahead. The rest of the hunting party would be expecting you soon, no doubt already boasting of their own triumphs.
“Before I forget…” San cleared his throat, shifting slightly as he walked beside you. You caught the way his fingers curled into the fabric of his coat before he shoved his hands into his pockets.
“I wanted to thank you for covering for me the other day. You know, the fountain incident.”
Ah, yes. How could you possibly forget?
Your precious fox terrier had decided without warning that the fountain was the perfect place for a swim. In your futile attempt to retrieve him, you lost you balance and found yourself tumbling head first into the fountain and into the arms of your arch nemesis.
“The maids were going to assume that regardless,” you said flatly, giving him a withering look.
“I had to preserve some dignity.”
“R-Right.” San cleared his throat.
It was bad enough that he was in such close proximity to you, close enough to catch the subtle scent of your perfume. Close enough to notice the way the sunlight spilled over you, forming a halo that made you seem almost untouchable.
But worse than that?
Worse was the fact that his heart was racing when it had no right to. When he had no right to you. Not after everything he had done. Not after the way he had broken you heart all those years ago.
You weren’t even looking at him. Not really. Your gaze was distant, unreadable, as if the past had been buried so deep that it no longer touched you. As if he no longer touched you.
But San?
San was drowning in everything he thought he had left behind.
You walked ahead, keeping your steps measured and controlled. San, however, lingered just behind you as you refused to acknowledge his presence.
After a long pause, he finally spoke. “It’s a lovely day.”
You hummed in vague agreement, not bothering to look at him. Undeterred, he tried again.
“The ton has been lively this season.”
“Has it?”
“Do you think your brother will find a match?”
“I did not realize you were interested in the affairs of the ton, Mr. Choi,” you replied flatly.
San let out a quiet chuckle. “Hardly. It’s just that there seem to be an abundance of bachelors this season.”
You froze. It was a harmless statement, just idle small talk, the kind of thing anyone might say in passing. But it struck something deep in you, like an old wound reopening.
Was he implying that he was one of them? That he still held the ton in the palm of his hand, effortlessly sought after, endlessly desired? Was this his way of boasting? Of reminding you how highly he was regarded, how easy it was for him to be admired?
You didn’t want to show it. You didn’t want to feel it. But there it was, crawling up your throat, clawing at your chest. You could hear it clearly now, echoing in the back of your mind—the words that had made you feel small. Insignificant.
Pathetic little wallflower.
Your fingers clenched at your sides.
San must have noticed the change in your expression because he tilted his head slightly, eyes flickering with genuine concern. “Is something the matter?”
“Why do you care?” You forced yourself to breathe, to suppress the bitterness rising in your throat.
“I was simply making conversation,” he replied carefully.
Your lips curled in a humorless smile. “Shall I applaud you, then? For once again securing your title as one of the ton’s most eligible bachelors?”
San’s eyes widened, and you could see the confusion in his face. He hadn’t expected this. But you didn’t care anymore. You couldn’t let him think for one second that his attempts at civility meant anything more than a poor effort to make himself feel better.
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” he said carefully. “Apologies, Y/N, I–”
“Do you enjoy making a mockery of me, Mr. Choi?” you interrupted, your voice cold and clipped.
San stiffened. “No, that’s not—”
“Then why else would you feel the need to remind me how desirable you remain? How you are still sought after, still admired, while my prospects ended the moment you decided I was nothing more than a means to an end?”
San flinched, as if your words had struck him harder than any physical blow. He opened his mouth, perhaps to defend himself, to explain, but you didn’t wait to hear it.
“Do not act as though you are granting me a favor by speaking to me now,” you continued, voice unyielding.
“Not when you have already shown me that I am not worth courting, let alone marrying.”
You turned sharply and stormed off with your pulse pounding in your ears. Every step you took felt like it was pulling you further from the mess of emotions San had stirred in you. It was easier to leave him standing bewildered than to waste another second trying to make sense of his half-hearted apology, one that he probably thought would absolve him of everything.
Norman trotted quietly beside you, occasionally glancing up as if to check that you were truly alright. But in your anger, you didn’t notice the gnarled tree root sticking up from the ground.
Your foot caught, and you stumbled forward, landing hard on your hands and knees. Pain shot through your ankle as you hissed in pain, clutching it as you tried to push yourself up, only for the ache to intensify.
“Y/N!” San was there in an instant, his hands reaching for you. “Are you alright?”
“I don’t need your help,” you cut him off.
You straightened as much as you could, leaning heavily on your uninjured leg. Norman whined, nudging your arm, but you exhaled sharply and took a step forward, biting back the pain.
San hovered behind you, watching, but he didn’t dare reach for you again.
And you didn’t look back.
The last thing you wanted right now was to be anywhere near him and you refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing you so vulnerable and hurt.
“She has sustained a twisted ankle, but it is nothing life threatening. She’ll need to be on bed rest for the next few days,” Dr. Song said, rolling his sleeves down.
You groaned, flopping back against the pillows as your mother flitted about the room, shooting worried glances between you and the doctor as though you had been delivered a death sentence rather than a minor injury.
“Y/N!”
You felt the gazes of the hunting party on you as you made your way to the clearing with San’s gaze into the back of your head. Yeosang had rushed over, barking interrogations at San.
“What the hell happened?” he demanded.
Yunho, however, was focused only on you. He stepped closer, his brows furrowed in concern as his gaze swept over your face.
“You’re hurt,” he stated, his voice quieter than the others but no less insistent.
“Oh, well I didn’t realize,” you muttered sarcastically. “What ever would I do without your keen observations, your grace?”
Before you could brush him off, he was already moving, his hands gentle but firm as he guided you toward a fallen log at the edge of the clearing. You barely had a moment to protest before he was kneeling before you, one hand steadying your calf while the other carefully unlaced your boot. Yunho’s jaw tightened slightly as he turned your foot with the utmost care, his fingertips ghosted over the tender skin just above your ankle.
“It’s swelling,” he muttered. “Why didn’t Mr. Choi help you?”
You hesitated.
What good would it do? Complaining about San wouldn’t change anything. It wouldn’t undo how he had to remind you that you were undesirable while he was the jewel of the season. If it were possible for rakes to be jewels.
“It doesn’t hurt as bad as when I fell on it,” you said, keeping your tone light. “I just needed a moment to walk it off.”
He shook his head, exasperated but unsurprised, before lifting you up on to his horse.
“You’re not taking another step.”
From a distance, San tuned out Yeosang’s demands. His gaze remained locked onto you and Yunho, watching as the duke carefully adjusted the reins in your hands, his arm brushing against yours in a gesture that was both natural and infuriatingly intimate.
“You expect me to believe you left her alone in the woods?” Yeosang demanded, disbelief sharpening his tone. His gaze flicked over San, searching for any tell, any sign of guilt. He narrowed his eyes and stepped closer.
“San.”
“She said she was fine,” he snapped back, his expression unreadable. “Who am I to argue?”
Yeosang scoffed, unimpressed. “Fine? She was limping, you absolute bastard.” He crossed his arms and flexed his jaw.
San’s gaze flickered back to you, just as Yunho murmured something too soft for anyone else to hear, drawing a small, reluctant smile from you. His grip on his riding gloves tightened slightly.
“If anyone hears she was alone with you—injured, no less—you know what they’ll assume,” Yeosang said, his voice steely. “
A scandal of that magnitude would leave her no choice but to marry you. And we both know that’s the last thing she’d ever want.”
You stifled the urge to groan again, but when your mother turned toward the door to see Dr. Song out, an idea struck. If she was going to make a spectacle of your injury, why not use it to your advantage?
If you were stuck here at Yunho’s estate, left alone while everyone else fretted over the logistics of your recovery, perhaps you could finally set your plan into motion. A perfect excuse to slip away unnoticed, to uncover the truth behind the fire and to put as much distance between you and San.
It was perfect.
You let out a soft, pitiful whimper, shifting slightly against the pillows as if the movement sent a wave of pain through you. Pressing a hand to your ankle, you sucked in a sharp breath.
“Ah—Mother!” you said, feigning discomfort. “It really hurts.”
After all, the mystery arsonist wasn’t going to wait for you to heal.
She spun back around in an instant, eyes widening with alarm. “Oh, my Y/N!” she cried, hurrying to your side.
“Dr. Song said it wasn’t serious, but perhaps he underestimated the pain. Should I call for him again? Do you need more pillows? Something for the pain?”
You resisted the urge to smirk. Instead, you winced for good measure, leaning your head back against the pillows. “No…no, I’ll be fine,” you sighed dramatically.
“I just need to rest. Perhaps… some ink and parchment and…possibly a bell for my needs.”
“Of course, darling,” she said, smoothing a hand over your forehead before standing. “I’ll make sure everything is taken care of.”
As she hurried out of the room, rattling off instructions to the servants, you finally allowed a small, satisfied smile to slip through. You adjusted your pillows, propping yourself up just enough to comfortably reach the desk beside your bed. The servant who entered moments later placed a fresh stack of parchment and a well-trimmed quill on the surface, bowing slightly before retreating without a word.
Perfect.
You dipped the quill into the ink, tapping it lightly against the rim of the inkwell before pressing the tip to the page before scrawling out the possibilities.
Revenge? Perhaps the Chois had enemies, as did most noble families. But servants? What threat did they pose? The person who burned down the manor was a paid servant, disgruntled enough to take the money for the job. You leaned back, exhaling slowly. Whoever was behind this wasn’t just wiping out a family—they were sending a message.
You let out a long, frustrated groan, pressing the heels of your hands against your eyes. You needed to find the stablehands from the hunt as they had been the last to handle the horses, the ones who would have seen who came and went, who might have noticed something others had overlooked. But how would you track them down?
You had no names, no descriptions, only the knowledge that they had been there that day. If they had been hired specifically for the event, they could be long gone by now, taking work where they could. And if they had belonged to a particular house, you’d have to sift through the web of noble connections, hoping to find out who had brought their own staff and who had relied on the host’s.
You leaned forward, staring at the notes before you, willing an answer to appear. Think.
And then it hit you.
A slow grin spread across your face as the idea took shape. If you asked your brother to casually inquire with Yunho about the hunt, he might be able to get you the information you needed without raising suspicion.
Yunho would know exactly who had attended, whether they had brought their own stablehands or if all the workers had been part of his staff. And if any unfamiliar names cropped up, ones that didn’t belong to the usual estate workers…then you had your trail.
Now all that was left was convincing your brother to play along. You exhaled, already bracing yourself for the argument to come as you grabbed the bell the maid had brought for you.
“No.”
“Please.”
Yeosang sighed, dragging a hand over his face. The last few hours had been nothing short of a whirlwind—between your injury and your mother’s insistence that the family remain at your side, declaring you far too frail to travel, he had barely caught a moment’s rest.
He had done his best to steer clear of your mother, but, of course, you had a way of pulling him into the chaos. His gaze flickered to the bell on your nightstand, the one you had requested, supposedly to communicate with the staff. He had half expected you to ignore it, assuming you had only asked for it to be difficult.
"You do realize you are asking me to procure information that, if traced back to you, could land you in even greater trouble?"
You gave him a pointed look. "Which is precisely why it must come from you and not me."
He dragged a hand down his face. "Unbelievable."
"So, you’ll do it?" you pressed.
“No.”
You huffed, crossing your own arms in a mirrored stance. "Yunho is your dearest friend. He could not possibly suspect you of ill intent!"
"That is precisely why this is a terrible idea. He knows me too well."
"Yeosang, please," you implored, lowering your voice. "I need to know who the stablehands were that day. If there is any hope of uncovering the truth, it lies with them."
Your brother remained still, his gaze unreadable as he studied you in the dim glow of the room. The fire crackled softly behind him, casting flickers of light that did little to ease the tension settling between you.
He exhaled slowly, his fingers twitching at his sides as though fighting the urge to throw a cushion at you, to shake you from your stubbornness, from your ceaseless meddling in affairs that, in his mind, did not concern you.
And yet, this was his lot in life, was it not? The fate of an older brother to an eternal spinster, forever tasked with keeping you from bringing ruin upon yourself.
Still, Yeosang's hesitance was not born of fear. No, Yeosang had never been a coward. He was not afraid of what he might find; he was afraid of what it would mean, because once he set this course in motion, there would be no turning back.
"If I do this," he said slowly, "you swear that you will not act recklessly upon whatever you learn."
You straightened, meeting his stare unflinching. "I swear it."
⊹
You were reclining against the plush pillows of your bed, absentmindedly flipping through a book while your injured ankle was propped on a cushion. The past day had been an exercise in patience, something you sorely lacked, but you consoled yourself with the knowledge that Yeosang had promised to obtain the information you needed. Soon, you would know the names of the stablehands present at the hunt.
So when the door creaked open and Yunho stepped inside, your heart leapt in anticipation.
“Oh! Yunho!” You tossed aside the book resting in your lap and sat up a little straighter, smoothing the fabric of your dress in an attempt to look presentable. Not that it mattered—it was just Yunho.
“How is your ankle?” His gaze flickered briefly to where it was still propped up on a cushion as he pulled a chair closer to the bed.
“It’s fine,” you said, waving a hand dismissively. “The swelling has receded.”
You tilted your head, a knowing smile creeping onto your lips. “What brings you here?”
This was it.
He had the list. He had to. Yeosang had spoken with him—hadn’t he? Yunho had come all this way, personally, and he looked… serious. Hesitant, even. This was the moment where he confirmed what you already knew: Yeosang had done as he was supposed to.
“Well…Yeosang mentioned something to me earlier.”
Your stomach coiled in anticipation.
“Yes?” you prompted, doing your best to appear patient despite the way your pulse quickened.
Yunho met your gaze.
“Would you be interested in attending the opera with me?”
You blinked at him, utterly dumbfounded. What?
“Of course, after your ankle has healed,” he added smoothly, as if that clarified anything.
“…I beg your pardon?”
“I was surprised too,” Yunho admitted, mistaking your complete and utter bewilderment for embarrassment. “But Yeosang seemed certain, and I thought…well, I thought you might allow me to accompany you.”
Your mouth opened. Then closed. Then it opened again. Your mind struggled to process what was happening.
Yeosang had what?
“There’s no need to worry about seating,” Yunho continued, evidently taking your silence as hesitation rather than abject shock.
“I’ll secure us a private box. The performance is in a few weeks’ time.”
That traitor. That absolute menace of a brother who only had one task.
Was this what he had been doing while you were here, anxiously waiting for actual information? Spinning elaborate tales about your supposed lack of a love life? To Yunho of all people?
You could already picture the scene: your brother, lounging without a care in the world, weaving whatever nonsense he pleased while Yunho sat there, soaking it all in like it was the most entertaining thing he’d heard in weeks.
“That… sounds lovely,” you finally managed, smiling tightly. You weren’t entirely sure how to feel about his invitation, but before you could dwell on it further, Yunho shifted the conversation effortlessly.
“Before I forget,” he murmured, nodding to the maid standing by the door. She stepped forward, presenting him with a parcel wrapped in simple brown paper. He made quick work of the string, letting the paper fall away to reveal its contents. Your initial skepticism was quickly replaced by genuine surprise.
Nestled within the packaging were beautifully bound sheets of music, their once vibrant edges slightly worn, as if they had traveled through time itself. Your breath caught as you gingerly flipped through the compositions, your fingers tracing the delicate notes written by a hand long gone. The music was intricate, sophisticated, far more than anything you had ever expected from one of Yunho’s usual "finds."
“Where on earth did you find this?” you asked, marveling at the notes.
Yunho’s playful demeanor softened as he watched your reaction, clearly pleased with himself.
“A merchant from Italy was docked at the port,” he explained, leaning back in his seat.
You raised an eyebrow, still flipping through the pages. “Is that so?”
“Well,” Yunho admitted with a sheepish grin, “I may have mentioned I was looking for some rare items for a friend who appreciates these sorts of things. He showed me his collection, and when I saw the quality, I couldn’t leave without bringing some of it back for you.”
Your fingers trailed over the sheets, admiring the careful preservation of the compositions. And then—your touch faltered.
Something was wedged between the pages.
Frowning, you carefully pried apart two sheets of music, revealing a neatly folded slip of parchment tucked within. Your pulse quickened as you unfolded it, your eyes scanning the names meticulously inked in Yunho’s handwriting.
The list of attendees from the hunt.
Your breath stilled. The parchment crinkled slightly beneath your grip as the realization settled. It was a puzzle he had crafted for you to solve. He had hidden the list so cleverly, yet left it in a place only you would think to look.
Slowly, your gaze lifted to meet his. There was no smirk, no hint of mischief in his eyes. Instead, his expression was uncharacteristically earnest, like he had been waiting, hoping, for you to see what had been there all along.
"You little--," you chuckled, despite the flutter in your chest. The realization dawned upon you—this was more than just a simple invitation. "Yeosang never mentioned anything about the opera did he?"
A breath passed before he spoke again, softer this time. "Well? Will you do me the honor of accompanying me to the opera, Miss Kang?”
There was no playfulness to soften the edges of the question. Just Yunho, waiting for an answer that seemed to mean far more than just one night at the opera.

bestfriend!steve comforting you after a break up
wc: 875
a/n: this short thing was born because "walking in the rain" by we all together has been stuck on repeat for me currently. enjoy!
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
“hey, what are you doing out here?”
you were somehow able to hear steve’s voice over the heavy sound of the rain.
seeing his maroon bmw was unexpected, and if it was any other moment it would’ve been a pleasant surprise, but in this one it wasn’t because you had really just wanted to be alone.
“i’m just walking,” you answered, not stopping to walk over to his car and instead continuing your path down the sidewalk; you weren’t entirely sure where you were going, but you didn’t really mind that right then.
“walking?” steve asked, his tone incredulous and slightly amused. “it’s pouring out.”
all you could do was shrug in response because you didn’t want to say anything right then; not even to your best friend.
you hoped that would be the end of it. that steve would understand that your shrug meant that you wanted to be left alone and he’d drive away, leaving you out here walking in the rain on this random tuesday afternoon. but of course, he didn’t drive off.
instead, he pulled over and parked his car on the random street and then ran to catch up with you; his scoops ahoy uniform immediately getting soaked in the process along with his hair.
“what’s wrong?” he asked, falling into step with you.
you shook your head instead of verbally answering him because you knew that it would be too hard to outwardly lie to him.
steve looked at you, confusion and worry written so clearly across his features because he didn’t know what was up with you in this moment.
the rain hid your tears well, but it didn’t hide how puffy and red your eyes were.
“are you crying?” he asked. “what happened?”
you wiped at your cheeks with the sleeve of the jacket you were wearing, and it did absolutely nothing to help, but the action still felt slightly soothing. “i don’t really want to talk about it right now.”
“okay,” steve responded, matching your quiet tone and not pushing you further. “we can keep walking.”
and so you did. continued walking down the random sidewalk and letting the rain fill the silence lingering between you two.
until you finally did say something.
“nate and i broke up. well, actually, he, um, he broke up with me… he ended things,” you said and then you quickly continued before steve could respond. “and i didn’t want to talk about this right now. i wanted to wait until i was at least a little less sad about it to tell you, but...” you trailed off with a halfhearted shrug.
“i’m sorry,” steve told you, voice soft and hand finding yours, giving it a light reassuring squeeze.
“it’s okay.”
it was obvious that your words were a lie— there was nothing about how affected you felt by the abrupt end of this six month relationship that felt okay— but steve decided against calling you out on it.
he gave your hand another squeeze. “can we go to my car now before we end up getting sick out here?”
“okay,” you whispered and for a second, you thought that he wasn’t able to hear you over the sound of the rain, but then he was leading the way back to his car.
“i just don’t get it, y’know,” you said, voice still quiet, once you were sitting in steve’s passenger seat. your rain-soaked clothes were starting to stick to you in an uncomfortable kind of way, but you weren't really focused on that right then. “what i did wrong.”
“you didn’t do anything wrong.” the certainty in his voice surprised you as much as it managed to comfort you.
you turned to look at him, the smallest frown on your face. “how could you possibly know that?”
“because i know you and you’re great.”
his words made you smile, just a little bit, which was a nice contrast from how shitty you’d been feeling for the last hour. it was typical steve behavior, him doing anything and everything to make you feel better.
you’d been used to it from the moment you two met in third grade when you tripped while playing on the playground and he cracked jokes during the entire walk to the nurses office to take your mind off of the pain of your scraped knees.
“i never liked nate, by the way,” he continued.
“i know you didn’t,” you responded. “which is what makes this a thousand times more embarrassing.”
you knew that if you had just avoided nate like steve had suggested from the beginning none of this would be happening. you wouldn’t have been walking around aimlessly in the rain and you wouldn’t have needed your best friend to save you from your own sadness.
“do you want me to take you to your place or mine?” steve asked softly, breaking the growing quiet.
“yours,” you answered immediately. you couldn’t imagine not being with him right now— in his house, in whatever t-shirt and sweatpants he’d offer you to change into, on his couch watching bad movies until it got late and you dragged yourselves to his bed to sleep like you’d done a million times before. “please.”
steve nodded. “of course. anything for you.”

♪ ༘⋆ now playing – kiss her you fool by kids that fly
for as long as anyone could remember, you and danielle were attached at the hip, the bestest of friends. wherever you went, she followed and vice versa. danielle was your best friend, as you were hers. there was nothing more to your friendship, until there was.
a few months ago, you had the sudden realisation that you always wanted to be by danielle’s side. that wasn’t brand news to you, but the feelings behind it was the sudden realisation. you found yourself fawning over your friend, noticing how your heart would race around her. however, this sudden realisation wasn’t very sudden to your friends.
“so, you like dani?” minji tried confirming with you for the nth time, the others chuckling in the back.
“honestly, i’m surprised it took you this long to figure that out,” hanni sneered.
it seemed your group of friends had clearly anticipated the moment you confessed your crush on danielle to them. and, it seemed they had a mission to utterly humiliate you as they fed you delusions.
“she literally likes you back. just ask her out already before we all rip out our eyeballs,” hyein insisted and you swore you even saw her eye twitch. “watching this slow burn literally burns,” haerin continued.
you were never convinced. danielle was just nice like that! so what if she held your hand to class, she was just a touchy gal!
“SHE CLEARLY LIKES YOU BACK! KISS HER ALREADY YOU IMBECILE,” hyein would scream into your face, shaking you by the shoulders.
and every time they would spit this nonsense in your face, you would end up rolling your eyes with a small “whatever.”
as the bell went at the end of school, you found yourself walking out of class with danielle by your side. the both of you had just been paired up for a project and danielle was already pouring ideas out onto you.
“so, where do you want to do the project?” danielle asked. “definitely at your place. you always have the best stashes of snacks,” you grinned. danielle rolled her eyes. “only coming over for the snacks? that’s real rude of you y/n,” she chuckled teasingly.
you continued to joke with danielle before saying goodbye at the school entrance.
“i’ll come over in about an hour. i gotta wash up ‘cause i am tired as hell,” you exhaled.
danielle looked into your eyes and all you could do was get lost in them. the way her eyes lit up like fireworks made something squirm in your stomach, and you weren’t sure if this was a good feeling. looking into her eyes made you feel so safe and so… loved. sometimes, it hurt knowing she only saw you as a friend.
you took a step back, knowing if you kept staring into her eyes you might get lost for real. danielle waved goodbye as you walked away. she smiled brightly as you waved back.
“i’ll save you your favourites!”
both you and dani were spread out across her bed. you were getting extra comfortable, lying on the mattress with your favourite chips on the side. you made sure to not get crumbs on the bed as you watched dani furrowed her brows with whatever she had in front of her.
“you know, if we fail, i’m so blaming you,” you casually joked, watching dani raise her head and flinch back in betrayal.
“excuse me! i’m the one doing all the work right now. you’re just here for the snacks.” danielle pouted.
you grinned back at her as you sat up. “hey, i am not here just for the snacks. plus, you’d be lost without me.”
“sure, whatever helps you sleep at night.” danielle mumbled back. “it does help me sleep at night, thank you very much!”
you both started giggling. it always felt nice to spend time with danielle. listening to her giggle was like feeling the warmth of the sun on a clear day.
the two of you continued to chuckle between yourselves before danielle furrowed her brows once more.
“hey, y/n? could you help me with this question? i’m sort of stuck,” she asked you.
you looked at the question she was pointing at before getting up from the bed.
“i’ll just go wash my fingers first. don’t want to hand back the question sheet with chip dust all over it,” you said swiftly. you heard danielle chuckle to herself as you went to the bathroom.
you’ve been over to danielle’s house so many times, it feels like a second home. everything about danielle is so comforting and it makes you feel warm inside. you hoped that maybe you could always be by her side, to comfort her as she comforts you.
“so, y/n, how was sleeping over at dani’s place?” hyein inquired, raising her eyebrows.
“how’d you know about that?” you asked, as someone came over to grab your arm. you already knew who decided to wrap their arms around your own, yet you looked anyway.
danielle looked right into your eyes, the space between the two of you was nearly non-existent. you watched her eyes as they looked into your own then.. to your lips? you weren’t sure if you were seeing what was right in front of you correctly. danielle was the first to break eye contact.
“how’d you know about what?” danielle asked, smiling at hyein.
“no. no no. what was that?” minji interjected out of nowhere, pointing at you and dani. “what was what?” you laughed nervously. was it hot? it seems to be getting even hotter here.
minji just hummed, slowly nodding her head but watching you and danielle with a stink eye. you rolled your eyes in response as you recognised both hanni and haerin walking towards the group. they were both snickering between each other, looking at something on hanni’s phone.
it was when they both looked at you with grins that you knew it wasn’t anything good.
“a little birdie dropped a photo of you last night y/n!” hanni snickered, showing you a photo of yourself sprawled out on danielle’s bed. you were lying on top of some papers and still had a pen in hand.
you felt danielle let go of your arm as haerin chuckled on the side. you suddenly missed the warmth at your side and so you turned your head sharply towards danielle as she looked away quickly, pretending to look busy. she had her hand behind her neck, avoiding all eye contact with you but she was wearing this big smile on her face.
“has the school lawn always looked so green?”
you flicked at danielle’s temple, watching her poke out her tongue in a smile. you watched her with a smile as the morning sun hit her face at the right angle. she looked so beautiful. you knew there were four pairs of eyes eyeing both you and danielle intensely, but that didn’t stop you from admiring your friend.
hyein suddenly wrapped her arms around both your and danielle’s shoulders.
“okay! now, you may kiss the bride!” she exclaimed, leaving both you and danielle startled and flushed.
you and danielle sat side by side, surrounded by books. this time around, you both decided to work in the library.
“ok, so, i think for the project we should set it up like this,” danielle explained, showing you examples on her laptop while jotting some notes down in a notebook. you nodded in agreement, giving danielle some of your own notes and ideas.
the two of you work well together, as if you both shared the same brain. you both fed each other ideas and ran with it. it was natural for the two of you, being able to connect and then lock in.
danielle put her pen down to type something on her computer, you writing something down in the meantime. as danielle went to reach for her pen again, she accidentally knocked it down. you noticed the pen fall from your peripheral vision and so went down to reach for it. danielle went to grab her pen as well, her hand colliding with yours for a brief moment.
you both freeze. you’ve touched hands before, even held hands. so why was this any different? touching her hand sent a shock through your body—traveling from your hand all the way up your spine.
you turned your head to look at danielle before taking back your hand, letting her pick up her pen.
“um, sorry,” you muttered, holding your hand. danielle flashed you a smile before reassuring you that it’s fine.
you were lying down on a patch of grass, looking up to the clear skies above you. you could hear minji and hanni bickering about something, but you didn’t pay much attention to it. all you knew was that danielle wasn’t here, she was stuck in one of her classes and so you were left missing her during lunch.
“so, what are you gonna do?” hyein said, poking at your shoulder. “do about what?” “you know, your big crush on dani!” you quickly sat up to cover her mouth, looking around cautiously before you took your hand off her mouth.
hyein looked at you with a pout as you glared at her.
“no ‘cause i agree with hyein. when are you going to make a move?” haerin interjected. you opened up your mouth to say something, before closing it momentarily.
“she’s just a friend,” you said with a nod.
you watched as hanni and minji slowly stopped bickering, opening their ears to your conversation.
“that’s exactly what adrien said about marinette, now look at them,” hanni exclaimed, pointing her finger at you.
“who?”
“the dumb blonde and the blue haired girl from miraculous ladybug.”
“ooohh..”
“no, seriously though. do you plan on making a move?” hanni asked curiously. you looked at her and shrugged your shoulders.
“i mean, i think i’m just gonna wait this out,” you reply with a heavy sigh.
“excuses i hear,” hyein continued to pout. you smacked her arm with a frown. “hey, i’m just sayin’! she’s probably thinking the same as you! you could totally make a move and get her hand in marriage or whatever,” hyein smiled.
“man, you gotta start respecting your elders,” you snorted while poking hyein aggressively, making her squirm and giggle. “what do i even say if i hypothetically ask her out?” you questioned.
minji raised her finger as if a light bulb went off in her head. “you could tell her you think she’s cool!” she said confidently. “that i think she’s cool?” “yep!” “that’s a stupid idea.” “now look at who's talking about respecting their elders.”
“y/n!” you heard a familiar voice yell out. you turned to look at danielle running towards you and the others. “what are you guys talking about?” danielle beamed, immediately sitting next to you and holding onto your arm.
“nothing important, it’s ok,” you said in response, earning a few judgey glances from the others.
you sat quietly in danielle’s bedroom once more. this time, you were very awake and you made sure not to fall asleep on the papers again. maybe it was just you, but you could feel this tension rising between you and danielle, and it freaked you out. you weren’t sure when it started, but suddenly the two of you have been more awkward around each other.
you raise your head from your notes to look at danielle, noticing that she was already looking at you with such concentration you couldn’t describe in words. she quickly glanced away when you made eye contact with her, a slight pink tinting her cheeks.
you both continued to work in silence for the next hour before you decided that this was enough work for today. you got up from the bed as danielle walked you down to the front door.
you opened the front door before turning back to face danielle. you looked into her eyes, and there was something behind those eyes you couldn’t quite make out. danielle was looking at you with eyes so soft. it seemed so affectionate, and it pierced your heart.
“what is it? do i have something on my face?” you chuckled nervously. danielle was in such a trance, it was almost like she didn’t hear the words that came out of your lips.
“huh? oh, no you don’t have anything on your face. i just.. i was thinking of how well we’re doing on the project!” danielle said hesitantly, flashing a bright smile.
you smiled back before pressing your lips together and walking out the front door. you turned back to look at danielle and waved goodbye before walking off.
you heard the door to danielle’s house close, before you went to fumble your phone out of your bag. you scrolled through your contacts before calling hanni.
“y/n?” she said in concern.
“i need help! i don’t know what happened but there was something in the air and i fear i may have fumbled..” you said all in one go. you let out a big sigh before continuing. “i think i messed up a chance there, hanni.”
“dude, if you don’t call her and tell her you forgot something i might jump you. take your chance, mate,” hanni advised.
you felt your world stop, not hearing another word that came out of your phone. you? take your chance? with danielle? you know you had just called hanni to tell her that you messed up your chance, but it was still nerve wracking to think about making a move.
“y/n? hello? are you ok?” hanni asked with a lace of concern in her voice.
“do you think i have a chance?” you asked hesitantly.
“yes, you do. now go kiss her or whatever,” you heard her chuckle through the phone. “wait, before you do, why’d you call me? do i just have an overwhelming amount of rizz?” she snorted.
“don’t tell the other’s i said this, but yes,” you chuckle. you could hear hanni smile through the phone before she ushered you to go and call danielle.
the phone rang with danielle’s name on the screen.
“hello? y/n? what’s up?” you heard her say, her voice like honey in your ears.
“hey, dani! i, um, i think i forgot something at your place. could you wait for me at the front?” you asked softly.
when danielle gave you the affirmative, you turned on your heel and began to run towards danielle’s house. you ran up to the gate of her house before coming face to face with her.
“so, what did you forget that you had to run back here?” danielle chuckled.
you didn’t say anything, only looked into her eyes as you tried regaining your breath. you inhaled a big whiff of air before exhaling, danielle now looking at you with concern.
“y/n, are you feeling ok?” she questioned.
you gave her a big nod before speaking. “i just.. i almost forgot something important!” you smiled.
you swiftly brought your hands to cradle danielle’s face, and you felt her lean ever so slightly into your touch. you quickly left a kiss on her cheek, watching her eyes widen as her cheeks began to flush. you could feel your own cheeks grow warm as you let go of danielle’s face. you stepped back onto your heel.
“um, bye dani! see you.. later!!” you blurted before dashing off.
hanni

you walked through your house and towards your front door, opening it to reveal a very familiar face.
“danielle! um, what—what are you doing here?” you stuttered. you watched as danielle heaved and heaved, clearly catching her breath.
did she run to your house? why would she do that? did she run to you to reject you? different thoughts continued to race through your mind before danielle began to smile.
“i, um, i almost forgot something!” she beamed before rising to her toes.
danielle held cradled your face like you did before to her. you could feel her breath on your lips.
“we’re both such forgetful people,” you murmur. you heard danielle hum in agreement before she closed the space between the both of you.

THAT'S WHAT I'M FUCKING SAYIIIIIIIIIING
LIKE I WAS HAVING THIS CONVO WITH A FRIEND A LITTLE BIT AND ITS LIKE. yes i agree he does have like fears and likes and dislikes! like sure hes afraid of dogs and blah blah
BUT LIKE.
IF GENUINELY EVERYTHING IS CONSTRUCTED???? THATS NOT HIS
LIKE HE COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH DIFFERENT
which part of it im sure is like genetics and the brain and yadda which you can argue that some of why hes like that is just cause his brain said he is BUT A LOT OF IT IS DEFINITELY BECAUSE HE WAS NURTURED INTO BEING THAT WAY
plus the way everyones so nice to him at the beginning for example like its an idealized 90s lifestyle and hes the center of the world and a white man so of course hes gonna be pampered and why would they make him miserable
like cause i was also saying like. he IS entertainment and you wanna relate to him. you want him to be what YOU wanna be
and like stepping out of that to get into the world and just having the crushing reality of “nothing i did was REALLY my own” AND THAT IN ITSELF FUCKS YOU UP AND CHANGES YOU AND MAKES YOU REFLECT BACK AND THINK WHO YOU WERE WASNT YOU SO EVEN IF IT WAS HE'LL NEVER FEEL THAT WAY AGAIN IM SOOOO
truman was more than likely raised to be the way he is.. taught to be this charismatic, goofy, entertaining guy so he'd be interesting to watch on television, because if they didnt do anything he couldve ended up boring and that doesnt get you viewers or money... so in a way even his personality isnt fully his
#BRUHHHHHHHH#szftalk#DUUUUUDE#I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE#PLEAAAASE#IT MAKES ME SO EMO#everyone say thank you ed#and also jim#like actually#life changing#FUCK#the truman show
