an au where ava du mortain meets a charmingly infuriating performer at the local tavern that her and her fellow knights frequent.
an au where they fall in love and ava feels feelings she never thought she could ever feel before, an au where she finally understands what those inane poets were waxing on about.
an au where religious guilt and trauma gets in the way, shortly followed by the death of her entire family and her turning.
an au where the performer, her first and only love, also gets turned. unbeknownst to her. unbeknownst to one another.
an au where they both roam the earth for 900 long years, experiencing horrors and trials that no one human, no one being, should ever have to face.
an au where they come face to face, where one is working for the supernatural government, the agency. and where the other is working under the leader of the rogue supernaturals.

After making her screen debut in 1989, Sandra Oh has enjoyed a remarkable career in both film and television. Although the versatile talent and 12-time Emmy nominated actress is best known for her iconic roles as Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy and Eve Polastri on Killing Eve, Oh has also worked with some of the finest movie directors, including Alexander Payne, Steven Soderbergh, Mina Shum, John Cameron Mitchell, and more.

As fans continue to enjoy Oh’s new hit Netflix sitcom The Chair, it’s worth recollecting her best movie moments for those who want to see more of the talented actress on the big screen.
10 Defendor (2009): 6.8
Tumblr media
Peter Stebbings’ dark offbeat superhero comedy Defendor stars Oh as Dr. Ellen Park, a psychiatrist who gives hilarious facial and verbal reactions to the outlandish story relayed to her by Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), an ordinary man moonlighting as a vigilante crime fighter.
Cut from the same genre-bucking, irreverent cloth as James Gunn’s Super, once Arthur confesses his secret life to Dr. Park, she convinces the judge to go easy on him and allow him to continue his heroic activity. When tragedy strikes, Oh shows how much heartfelt pathos she can portray by attending a touching ceremony for her patient.
9 Under The Tuscan Sun (2003): 6.8
Tumblr media
Written and directed by the late Audrey Wells, Under the Tuscan Sun is a delightfully uplifting rom-com about Frances (Diane Lane), a writer who ups and leaves her life in San Francisco to live in Tuscany after discovering her husband’s infidelity. Oh plays Patti, Frances’ best friend who encourages her to travel to Italy.
RELATED: Sandra Oh – 10 Best Roles, Ranked (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
In addition to the gorgeous locations, breezy tone, and rich cinematography, Oh adds complexity to the story as Patti, a lesbian expecting a child even after her lover Grace (Kate Walsh) has left her. It’s Patti’s visit to Tuscany when she’s nine months pregnant that helps Frances find the courage to pursue true love despite the painful past.
8 Double Happiness (1994): 7.0
Tumblr media
Oh made her feature film debut in Mina Shum’s must-see coming-of-age tale Double Happiness, in which she plays the lead role of Chinese-Canadian Jade Li. The intensely personal semiautobiographical drama shows how divided Jade is between her traditional Chinese upbringing and her modern Canadian lifestyle.
With a natural performance by Oh matched with the authentic, well-observed writing of Shum, the movie is a universally relatable tale of a person grappling with their own identity while trying to appease the expectations of loved ones. In her first film performance, Oh won the Genie Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, proving what a titanic talent she has been from the start.
7 Rabbit Hole (2010): 7.0
Tumblr media
John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole is a bruising account of a family dealing with the death of a young child at the hands of a teenage driver. Nicole Kidman gives a memorable and towering performance as Becca, a mournful mother who begins to find solace by interacting with Jason (Miles Teller), the driver who accidentally took her son’s life.
Although she has a smaller supporting role, Oh plays Gabby, a fellow grieving parent who helps Howie (Aaron Eckhart) deal with his loss at the group therapy sessions he and Becca attend. With profound empathy for Howie, she becomes instrumental in his healing process.
6 Meditation Park (2017): 7.1
Tumblr media
Twenty-three years after working with Mina Shum for the first time, Oh reunited with the filmmaker for the sweet-natured drama Meditation Park in 2017. The story concerns Maria Wang (Pei-Pei Cheng), an aging woman in the throes of an existential crisis upon suspecting her husband’s infidelity. Oh plays Maria’s daughter Ava, a mother of two who encourages Maria to reconcile with her estranged brother ahead of his wedding and break free from her husband’s hold.
RELATED: Asian-American Movies to Watch If You Loved Crazy Rich Asians
As another trenchant glimpse at the immigrant experience and a statement about the importance of women finding their own voice, Shum’s film is tender, touching, and triumphant.
5 Hard Candy (2005): 7.1
Tumblr media
David Slade’s Hard Candy is a deeply unnerving glimpse at a predatory pedophile (Patrick Wilson) getting his just deserts when a teenager (Elliot Page) tricks, traps, and tortures him in his apartment. Oh plays the man’s neighbor, Judy Tokuda, admitting she only took the role due to her working relationship with Page, a fellow Canadian she worked with on Wilby Wonderful the year prior.
With most of the action set inside the inescapable apartment, the visceral terror of the violence that Hayley (Page) exacts on Jeff (Wilson) is met by the suffocating sense of claustrophobia, making for a really upsetting experience. However, the hugely satisfying conclusion helps atone for the squeamish and uncomfortable moments of carnage.
4 Last Night (1998): 7.2
Tumblr media
The most unheralded of Oh’s top films happens to be Last Night, a mordant pitch-black comedy about the impending apocalypse and the rag-tag band of Canadians with differing views on how to react. With the end of the world set to strike at midnight, Sandra (Oh) tries to make it out of her stranded position in Toronto and reunite with her husband, Duncan (David Cronenberg). One bad thing after another ensues.
Weird, wild, and ultimately winning, Last Night boasts writer/director Don McKellar’s signature brand of dark humor and anarchic energy. As such, the film has become an unforgettable cult classic among those who’ve seen it.
3 Raya And The Last Dragon (2021): 7.4
Tumblr media
With great respect and honor for the rich historical traditions of Southeast Asia, Raya and the Last Dragon is one of Disney’s most beloved recent animated movies. Sandra Oh lends her voice to the commanding role of Virana, the Fang chieftess and mother of Raya’s main rival, Namaari (Gemma Chan).
RELATED: Raya And The Last Dragon – What The Voice Actors Look Like In Real Life
With a moving story, spellbinding animation, and characters never before seen, Raya and the Last Dragon continue to soar in the hearts and minds of viewers.
2 Sideways (2004): 7.5
Tumblr media
Directed by her then-husband Alexander Payne, Oh demonstrated her hilarious comedic chops in the indie darling Sideways, a character study of a failing writer at an existential crossroads. The boozy road trip follows Miles (Paul Giamatti), an uptight novelist, and his lecherous pal Jack (Thomas Hayden Church), as they hit Santa Barbara wine country on a tasting tour.
Praised for its excellent performances and light tonal touch between comedy and drama, Oh gives a standout turn as Stephanie, a cool sommelier who has a steamy love affair with Jack (whom she does not know has a fiancee). When she finds out, she goes absolutely ballistic in one of the movie’s funniest moments. The story is so sharply penned that it won an Oscar for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay.
1 The Red Violin (1998): 7.6
Tumblr media
Despite playing a bit role as Madame Ming in the fifth and final chapter of The Red Violin, the ambitious epic ranks among Sandra Oh’s most well-received movie to date. The film traces a famed 17th-century Violin from its creation in Italy to its auction in modern-day Montreal, and all that the instrument endured in creating some of the most beautiful music the world has ever heard.
Praised for its sumptuous set decorations and costume designs, Oscar-winning original music, intelligent story, and a throwback style of filmmaking that calls to mind the grand epics of the past, the resonance of The Red Violin is still felt today.

Constangreen
oooooo boy, i was not expecting constangreen but i’m so happy to answer these.
 who hogs the duvet
this would totally be john because john doesn’t think about it and gary’s too gary to say anything about it. so after their first few mornings together, john always feels incredibly guilty when he glimpses over to see gary on his side of the bed in nothing but his boxers, and curled in on himself to try and stay warm.
john ends up getting two more blankets, because who sleeps with only one anyway? and it works out because they end up buried in the covers and john loves when his and gary’s toes tangle under the blankets.
who texts/rings to check how their day is going
gary, at the worst imaginable times. john’s performing an exorcism and he gets a text from gary with at least seven heart emojis and a kissy face. and if john doesn’t answer the text soon, gary follows up with a call to make sure he’s alright. john might have had to have a talk with gary about that, but that doesn’t mean john doesn’t love knowing he’s cared for.
who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts
it’s not that john’s useless at giving gifts but he’s utterly useless at giving gifts. he’s usually handing over a store-bought present, so of course it’s gary who’s usually the one who has the sweet caring ideas.
but then john surprised them both by buying gary shiny new die for his d&d games.
who gets up first in the morning
not that gary wants to, but it’s gary. besides, there aren’t many demons for john to fight at seven in the morning.
who suggests new things in bed
gary, with a bright red face and shaky hands. and john’s grin splits wide across his face as he tackles gary to the bed and puts those ideas into action.
who cries at movies
john and gary are both guilty of that. when they’ve got the rare hour of downtime, they’ll curl up on the couch and catch up on films. and if one happens to have a heart-wrenching scene, they’re both pressed to each other’s sides, eyes watery.
who gives unprompted massages
john, and good thing because gary needs and deserves a good massage.
who fusses over the other when they’re sick
it’s actually john who gets incredibly nervous when gary wakes up one morning with a stuffy nose and a sore throat. john’s suddenly warming up soup, keeping gary in bed, and worrying his lip over gary’s minor cold.
 gary thinks it’s incredibly sweet.
who gets jealous easiest
perhaps not jealous, but gary gets insecure easily. he just can’t believe someone as cool and handsome as john constantine would want to date him. and gary’s not a fighter, so it did put some strain on their relationship at the beginning when gary thought john was showing interest to someone else, gary would pull back, deciding there was no sense in fighting when surely gary green would lose in every department.
john still tries his best to convince gary how madly in love with him he is.
who has the most embarrassing taste in music
we all know john’s taste in music, and while i wouldn’t consider gary’s taste embarrassing, it’s a lot of pop music and today’s hits.
who collects something unusual
well, considering john has bat spleen in a small bottle, i’d go with john. he has some interesting things at the millhouse after all.
who takes the longest to get ready
i don’t think either of them take very long, but they’re usually side by side, whether they’re brushing their teeth or brushing their hair or putting their shoes on. they get ready together, and usually get distracted by one another in the mean time.
who is the most tidy and organised
I would say gary would probably be more tidy, but that’s not hard when compared to john constantine. gary green is a mess, trust me. his
who gets most excited about the holidays
gary gets the most excited to be able to spend them with john.
who is the big spoon/little spoon
i think this is pretty interchangeable. sometimes john likes to be held, sometimes gary likes to be held.
who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports
jeez, i think it’s hard to imagine gary with any competitive bone in his body, so probably john. john love petty rival bets, whether that’s games or sports.
who starts the most arguments
john comes off crabby a few times so he ends up hurting gary’s feelings and only realizes when he hears gary shut the bedroom door. he spends the next ten minutes apologizing until gary opens the door and kisses him senseless.
who suggests that they buy a pet
gary does, because he’s got a kind heart and they actually do adopt a white cat that’s got green eyes and pink paws. john doesn’t like her at first, since she’s got gary’s attention for the whole first week, but then gary’s gone one weekend and priscilla, the cat, curls next to john on the couch and maybe they could get along after all.
what couple traditions they have
john’s got a record player and there’s this song he played after the first night they got together, and they slow danced, with john’s mouth pressed to gary’s shoulder and his hands on gary’s waist as a fire flickered in the fireplace behind them. john still won’t tell gary the name of the song, but sometimes after a heated night, john will play the song and they’ll dance.
what tv shows they watch together
hmm i can’t picture this. so i might go with none for right now. they binge movies rather than tv because keeping up with tv in their line of work is exhausting.
what other couple they hang out with
hang out might not be the term but they run into sara and ava quite often considering they work together.
how they spend time together as a couple
usually it’s spent saving the world since john’s joined the legends and gary’s a time agent. but then there’s also the soft moments where john’s hand is carding through gary’s curls when they’re laying in bed. or when their hands are intertwined as they walk side by side. or, as previously mentioned, they binge movies and make out on the couch.
who made the first move
john planted a big kiss on gary and we all saw it. buuuut the proper move was made when they both blurted out that they wanted to see each other again. and they did.
who brings flowers home
gary brought home a bouquet of blue flowers once, and they were lovely, sitting in the vase for about two weeks, and john tried to return the gesture but something happened, something about a poltergeist, and john came home with crushed flowers, a split lip, a gash on his forehead, and a tear in his shirt.
gary appreciated the gesture and insisted on putting the flowers in the vase.
who is the best cook
these two disaster men decided to try and cook together and they end up making one of the most delicious home meals either of them have had. so they improve one another’s cooking easily.

Not Your Job - Part 1
Poe is still adjusting to his new role leading missions from the command center on base. A quick stop-off at the hanger before launch doesn’t make things easier but he knows his role now is to fill the void Leia left behind. But the mission takes an unexpected turn and he finds that there were worse challenges to the job that Leia couldn’t have prepared him for.
Word Count: 1609
Content Warnings: minor mentions of violence and death (it’s a battle scene peoples)
Early morning launches were a drag for everyone. Poe had told that Ava didn’t need to get up when he and Luke did, but she had insisted on getting up to make him a thermos of caf and ensure they both got breakfast. He wished she would go back to sleep since he knew the babies kept her awake most hours of the night but she refused.
“Mom after I help with the launch I’m going to stay at the hanger and work on my speeder,” Luke said as he put his plate in the sink.
“Ok,” Ava nodded, eyeing the last of the caf in the pot with longing, knowing she couldn’t have it while pregnant.
“Sweetheart go back to sleep,” Poe came behind her, slipping an arm around her waist and kissing her cheek. “You have nothing to worry about today. I’ll be in the command room.”
“I know,” Ava sighed as his lips moved from her cheek to her neck.
“Come on, kid in the room,” Luke groaned. “Kriff.”
               “Luke!” Ava gaped. “Language!”
“You say it,” her son countered, plopping down on the couch to pull on his boots.
Poe snickered at the exchange and Ava glared at him. He got serious again, chin dropping slightly in penitence, his impishly bright hazel eyes undimmed though. He kissed Ava’s cheek again before grabbing his thermos. Luke popped up from his seat and Ava made her way carefully around the counter, still not fully spatially aware of her stomach.  Luke kissed her cheek and rubbed her stomach.
“See you later mom, babies. Love you,” he grinned and darted out the door ahead of Poe.
“Love you too, sweetie,” Ava called after him, leaning around her husband to see her son out the door.
“I’ll see you tonight,” Poe kissed her on the lips. “Try to get some rest.”
“All right,” Ava yawned and stretched her hands over her head. “Love you.”
               “Love you too.”
The hectic, buzzing atmosphere of the hanger brought up feelings Poe hadn’t anticipated. Only a year ago he had been among those ranks, running around with BB-8 to get their X-Wing flight ready, making sure they had all the commlinks properly encrypted and secure, ensuring the ship was flight ready and nothing would fall off midflight. He missed the high of it, the adrenaline hyping up all his senses, making him feel heroic, invincible even. And he missed BB-8. He never considered his little companion one of his belongings but it stung a little when Rey had asked if BB-8 could serve as her astromech droid. That was his droid! He’d never considered that giving up his active part in missions would mean giving up his droid too. But BB loved performing the function he was made for and Poe couldn’t deny him that.
“Pop, you all right?” Luke asked, pulling him out of his thoughts. The boy was staring at him, though he occasionally glanced around the hanger. “You miss it don’t you?”
“A bit,” he admitted, tilting his head to one side as he nodded. “But they need me in command doing what your Gram used to.”
“Hey Luke we need you over here,” Temmin waved the boy over to help with fueling and checks.
“See ya tonight, Pop,” Luke waved and ran off.
Poe heaved a sigh and looked around one last time, resolving to head to command and not think about how much he wished he was going up today. A blur of orange and white came zipping up, stopping him from leaving, chirping and beeping joyously at the sight him. Poe beamed, kneeling down and eagerly patting the droid rapidly on both sides.
“Hey buddy!” The droid whirred and beeped. “No, no, I’m not joining you. You’re with Rey.” Sad boop. “I know buddy but they need me here.” More beeps and whirs. “I miss you too. But Rey needs you. And you don’t want to spend your days in our quarters with the cleaning droid do you?” Indignant beeps this time. “Exactly. You’re meant to fly. So, you fly, ok?” He patted BB-8’s head fondly and stood up. “May the Force be with you, buddy.”
BB-8 beeped fondly and then rolled off to do his job, leaving Poe an outsider to the scene once more. With a heavy sigh, he turned on his heel and headed to the command room, taking swigs of caf as he went. The air in the command room was a lot different than that in the hanger. There was energy still, but a tense sort, more organized and calculated. With all the different moving parts to track they had maintain more composure than the high octane, adrenaline junkies getting their ships off the ground. Poe watched on edge as their fleet progressed to the asteroid belt, understanding now how Leia must have felt whenever she sent them out there. All he could see were little lines circling around in radar sweeps and then the dots that indicated each of their ships. They seemed so small but Poe knew each of those dots was at least one living, breathing, being that might not make it home.
You can’t think like that, Dameron, he chided himself. At least he thought it was him chiding himself. The voice sounded suspiciously like Leia’s. He shook his head, took another sip of his caf and refocused. Things were pretty uneventful for the most part. Their fleet reached the asteroid belt and took their positions without harm, though it took a couple attempts for a few pilots to get to a safe idling place. A few hours of nothing but radar sweeps made him wish he had more caf on hand. After waiting and waiting to the point that Poe thought he might fall asleep on his feet, the first little red dot of the First Order’s fleet appeared on the edge of the map.
“Look alive everyone,” he called out and everyone refocused their attention. He could hear the pilots chattering among themselves, gearing up to take action. The plan was something they’d practiced time and again, successfully completing several prior missions with the same objective. But this was their biggest strike to date. The X-Wings would target the protective Tie fighters that escorted the cargo freighter while four larger Resistance ships would anchor the freighter with their tractor beams. Two smaller transit ships had been equipped with tools that would connect them to the freighter and cut an entrance into the hull, creating an air tight seal between the ships, allowing an onboarding crew to get onto the freighter and commandeer it. This freighter would be taken to a secure third location and swept for trackers before the cargo was brought to yet another location where the X-Wings would be assembled. They took care not to have everything all in one place for the Resistance so that if one thing was found, be it their off-base farms, the hangers for constructing new ships, whatever, nothing else would be endangered.
“Let’s get this,” Poe heard Temmin’s voice over the commlink. As Black Leader he was leading the charge. Poe felt his muscles all tense up as the sounds of fired shots came over the link. A cacophony of orders, exclamations, shots, made it difficult to track what was happening but the radar tracked their movements filling in the blanks left by the confusing audio. He watched as one after one the Tie fighters were picked off and the anchoring ships moved into place. Two X-Wings blipped out on the radar and Poe felt a lump in his throat that wouldn’t go away. Another one went out and he clenched his jaw.
“Someone take that Tie out,” he nearly pleaded as he watched the one fighter that wouldn’t give up take out one more of their X-Wings. It was the last man standing and it seemed determined to take as many rebels with it as possible. Finally, the light blipped out on the radar screen and Poe sighed in relief. Now all they had to deal with was the security crew on the freighter. They had limited audio, something in the freighter was interfering with the transmission. They could hear shouted orders from the rebels, blaster fire, screams, the almost robotic voices of Storm Troopers, all mingling together.
“Status report,” Poe called into the commlink after everything went dim. “Landing leader, status report.” Static crackled for a moment and Poe started to request the status again when a voice came through at last.
“The freighter is ours, sir,” the stern female voice of landing leader came over the commlink. Cheers went up around the command room and Poe grinned, feeling the weight come off him, replaced with relieved giddiness. But it wasn’t a perfect mission. They’d lost four pilots.
“Any casualties in the landing party?” He inquired.
“No casualties, sir,” she replied. “But five severely injured and in critical condition. We’re sending them back immediately. They’re not entirely stable.”
“Right,” Poe nodded. “I’ll have medical on standby at the landing pad.”
“Sir,” the voice interrupted his preparation to disconnect the communication. “Be advised one of the injured is your son.”
Poe felt his legs nearly drop from underneath him, the air shoot out of his lungs like an airlock opened in space. He leaned heavily on the console in front of him, hands flat on the smooth surface, head hanging down. He couldn’t register why everything had gone blurry until he went to rub his eye and felt teardrops soak into his fingers.
“You must be mistaken,” he mumbled.
“No sir,” landing leader replied, tone softening. “I’m sorry sir.”
