So he has a reputation for being a little (read: extremely) difficult for post-match interviews

Nearly everyone had given up

And then all of a sudden, he’s actually civilised in interviews

Like, answering questions and even smiling a little

Everyone’s thinking

“What’s happening?” 

“Oh god he’s finally lost it after being in a team with 3 crackheads #PrayForSakusa2020”

In reality, it’s because you’re the one interviewing him

His teammates (*cough* Koganegawa *cough*) outed him on social media

You were working overseas and came back after months

The day coincided with a practise match, but Tsukishima was able to excuse himself

So you’re having the time of your life with your saltTM

He’s actually a really nice and sweet boyfriend underneath all that salt and sass

Even made a date course to explore the city

Had a good lunch and some strawberry shortcake in his favourite bakery

You enjoy it immensely, so he was smiling secretly

But then his phone starts blowing up for some reason

His teammates knew about you but not everyone else

People are spitting their drinks out and absolutely flabbergasted

Even his own teammates because he didn’t seem like the person to say that

Uban Dictionary defines shipping as this:

A term used to describe fan fictions that take previously created characters and put them as a pair. It usually refers to romantic relationships, but it can refer platonic [sic] ones as well. (Just think of “shipping” as short for “relationSHIP”.) 9 Apr 2015

Ships can be platonic or romantic or both.

There's fictional ships and non fictional ships too. You ship two people you want to be in a relationship or who already are in a relationship or who you suspect to be in a relationship- perhaps due to queer baiting, ship baiting, romance baiting etc.

In the shipping fandom, there are two sects of people. Those who are Proships those who are Antiships- antis are ironically considered part of the shipping community because for some reason they are always in shippers business💀

Antishippers are those who oppose a particular ship or shipping in general (more on that later.)

Proshippers are well- Pro ships.

Pro-Ship

A term mostly used in fandoms, but can stretch outside of this to include original characters. The core belief is that shipping two fictional characters, no matter if they are family, share ages gaps, considered to be unhealthy, or show blatant signs of being abusive or other generally unsavory behaviours, are valid in a fictional setting.

Pro-Shippers or "anti-antis" are also known as "rainbow meaties" and will use 🌈 + 🍖 emojis together often in their bio on twitter or other social media platforms- usually within fictional settings.

These shippers reinforce the idea fiction is separate from reality and shouldn't be confused with the other.

‘Anti’ is short for ‘anti-shipper’ or ‘anti-[ship]’.

Shipping non-fictional individuals is a subset of Proshipping, in my opinion, known also as alternative shipping- as far as my knowledge on it goes.

As with fictional shipping, alt ships have their antis too. People who disagree with shipping real couples in a romantic way for whatever arbitrary moral reasons they have and who feel entitled to go out of their way to correct, stop, police and punish such shippers.

Then there are those who although may be pro real people shipping think they have the right to tell others how they should ship and to what extent they can ship.

Others too prefer to ship real people platonically because they view romantic shipping of real people as problematic.

So to answer your question on Anon's post- there is no such thing as a Proshipper who is also Anti shipping. Thats oxymoronic. Perhaps they might be platonic shippers who are anti romantic ships but not necessarily romantic shippers themselves.

I don't think there's anything wrong with preferring to ship platonically. It is when they assume by virtue of their false sense of moderacy that they are better than others that shit starts to get funny.

Those shippers are delusionally confused beings with a supremacist imperialist complex rooted in ignorance and absurdities.

You are either pro ship or anti ship. There's no in between. Those shippers who are shippers but claim they are not are nothing but fraudulent, fake us, simps trying to bamboozle their way through life- pardon my Swahili.

There are a lot of anti shippers moonlighting as shippers in this fandom. It's fascinating.

Personally I think those people are either confused or their desires to appeal to other Anti shippers must have morphed their brains into ass dick hybrids.

Anti shippers in general are notorious gatekeepers, gaslighters, bigots, high key sanctimonious and often have a cis white westernized sense of morality and ethics through which they fliter others and expect everyone and everything to conform to.

They impose their values on others, their ethics on others, resort to manipulation, policing, intimidation and bullying to impose their will etc.

Within shipping, there are those who are Proshipping yet anti certain ships. Most Tuktukkers are anti Jikook. And assume anyone who isn't a tuktukker is equally anti Tae Kook and so go ahead and exhibit anti behaviours towards them.

Think of such groups of shippers as Proshippers with a preference for particular ships if you will.

There are Pro shippers who also feel some kind of way about Shipping real life people or alt shipping.

If you are intolerant with other shippers choice of ships or style of shipping and you traumatize them for it that's Anti shipping. Especially if you feel entitled and justified to traumatize others because you take a higher moral status over them.

You can be proship and not like how certain people, how they go about

Simply walk away, click off, mind your business. You are not the only adult in these streets and leave people to do what interests them.

I think for as long as I can remember, I've always been a proshipper and I ship both platonically and romantically, fictionally and alternatively💀

Some themes in fiction are a hard limit for me such as the R word, pedophilia, incest, child abuse- I just can never find the entertainment in those topics and will struggle through such themes.

But others believe it's just FICTION and those fictional characters aren't really dealing with the imaginary struggles we read about.

I don't really know why people make a big deal of it or try to demonize the concept of shipping as if it were something strange or mysterious- just keep your moral values to yourself. I am not your mother's daughter. we were not raised in the same households.

Then again I think it all depends on the different cultures and social backgrounds we all come from and how entitled, supremacist or imperialist they are.

For Yoonmin, I shipped them romantically but didn't think they were a real couple at all. I just romanticized their interactions and found humor in it. At the back of my head I was expecting them each to one day find husbands or wives and go their merry ways and even harbored the thought they each could very much be in serious romantic relationships with others.

In similar ways, I shipped Minimoni and Vmin.

You can ship a pair romantically and not think at all that they are actually REAL.

A lot of jokers ship Jikook romantically and don't assume they are real. Just as a lot of people shipped say Elena and Stefan romantically even though Paul was married.

Some shipped Elena and Damon too due to their unscreen chemistry and even felt they could be a thing- that was before later it was revealed they had started dating in real life. Even that I was holding on to my Bonnie x Damon fantasies because Bonnie was my bias and I shipped her with everyone romantically- of course I didn't expect any of those ships to manifest into something because it was the character I was shipping not Kat herself. To this day I still love her onscreen chemistry and friendship with Damon and don't see how people could wish for it to be more than that😭

It was beautiful as is. Not everything should climax into sexual intercourse.

But if I felt at some point any of her ships had crossed into alternative ships I would have jumped on those and supported it whole heartedly.

If you assume a pair are a real couple and dating in real life that's alt shipping- a lot of alt shippers suspect a ship is real and that's why they ship them.

There is no such thing as platonic alt shipping.

And for me personally, because I believe Jikook are a real couple and have made that cross over I don't ship any of that pair romantically with other members anymore.

It's bizzare to me to ship someone I know has a partner romantically with anybody else- I make exceptions for Vmin of course💀

I don't know how anyone can get invested in the story/characters in campaign 3 when the cast has proven they are willing to rewrite history. I mean, if someone likes La/udna and Im/ogens dynamic, that's great. But how can you get invested in that dynamic when after 100 episodes those characters might just stop talking to each other for literally no reason? They've literally done exactly that before.

Very good point, anon. And I’m glad you brought this up, because I have a rant to go on...

It’s really bothered me how I’ve seen some fellow Beaujester shippers so easily and so quickly crawl right back into CR’s clutches just because of Im/odna. Both on here and on Twitter, these people were lampooning post-hiatus CR just as vigorously as the rest of us, saying stuff like, “I can’t take them seriously.” “I don’t trust them anymore.” “Can’t stand watching it now.” and so on. 

But now, a lot of those same people have jumped onto C3, despite claiming that they would avoid it. Making/reblogging meta posts, gifsets, art, and clipping ‘moments’. And what I deem to be the most egregious act... still giving their money to CR. A lot of them are still buying merch left and right.

If CR burned you so badly, why are you doing this? How did they so easily capture you again?

And I’ve even heard some people go so far as to say they think that Marisha and Laura came up with this dynamic for their new characters because they’re ‘making up for’ what happened with Beaujester in C2.

If true, I would find that hilarious because 1) they seemed so adamant about pussyfooting around the OBVIOUS fact of Beaujester interactions evaporating and vehemently acting like nothing was amiss, so it would mean they’re admitting to how fucked up the end of C2 was, and 2) so many of the hardcore CR stans keep telling the rest of us that “The cast doesn’t care what fans say! They play the way they want to play! They would never change anything for anybody! You’re delusional if you think they would!”, yet this would show that they actually do pay attention to what fans say. That there is a chance that they might have taken it in to such a degree, that it actually galvanized Marisha and Laura to do something significant with each other’s characters in C3.

And so you end up with the Im/odna dynamic, which seems to have some suspicious similarities to Beaujester’s. They also made sure that their characters already had a long and solid friendship before the campaign (2 years as opposed to 1 day).

Even I have to admit that this set-up might not be a coincidence. 

However, (and it’s a big however) for the question of: have Marisha and Laura actually planned this from the beginning to eventually turn it into a romance? The jury’s still out.

I think there’s no truly solid evidence that they would take it there. And to be perfectly honest, being a Beaujester shipper and seeing the shit they pulled (in real time) in C2, I wouldn’t trust them with anything romance-related.

Are they actually laying the foundation of a slow-burn romance, or are they just fucking around? I don’t know. You can’t really tell. 

Which is a big reason as to why I am NOT giving, and do not WANT to give C3 any of my attention or energy. I’ve made it pretty clear that I’ve come across things about it (which is how I know the smallest tidbits about Im/odna), but I’m not actively watching and investing in it.

I will say, that in coming across those things, I’ve seen people talk so earnestly about this dynamic and the reasons behind it, that it makes me feel bad for them.

Because, what if you’re setting yourselves up again? You’re gonna have a bunch of BY’s, who have actively been rooting against it, rubbing it in your faces. Just because there’s a subsection of BY’s that are shipping it along with you, doesn’t change the fact that there is a larger portion that want to see La/udna and Im/ogen turn out to be sisters JUST to spite you.

If Im/odna is never canonized, they will absolutely be assholes about it. Again. And you will be devastated. Again.

So not only will you have Marisha and Laura playing stupid fucking games with the fandom, but you’ll have fandom assholes jumping you over it. (‘Cause apparently, to BY’s, bullying is just fine, as long as it’s not happening to the cast.)

In conclusion, after the total shit-show that was C2, I don’t trust them. And neither should you. It doesn’t matter how ‘cute’ their characters are being with each other. I don’t trust Marisha, I don’t trust Laura, I don’t trust anyone in the cast. (Except maybe Taliesin. He doesn’t poke the bear, he doesn’t push buttons, he doesn’t play mind games - at least when it comes to relationships.) But everybody else likes to fuck around a bit TOO MUCH.

If you want to ship Im/odna, do it. More power to ya. Have fun. Enjoy.

But don’t invest too deeply. Remind yourselves that you can’t TRUST this cast to follow through with what you think they’re setting up. It’s happened before, it can happen again.

Man I was typing more of my story and I realized I was too scared to really add the original Sans….he’s there but only for a few chapters.

Technically he was a love interest in my story but there was, and still is controversy with this guy. I researched about it awhile ago and the amount of controversy it caused made me scared about adding him at ALL. It was a twitter post saying he was too lazy to be in a relationship….that one sentence caused a controversy between simps, hardcore fans, and haters alike. I say haters because apparently there were some people who didn’t like the game or character in general but joined in anyway (idk it was random).

It was basically questioning his sexuality….which ok yeah we do that a LOT with fictional characters since we love them or just plain curious. But BOY when the creator of Undertale said that he was too lazy for relationships, everyone went CRAZY.

One side said he was Aro/Ace, he CAN’T date anyone

One side said the creator said he was LAZY that doesn’t really mean he’s Aro/Ace. It’s still possible for him to date someone if he really found someone to love.

I think the other side was either questioning why the hell people were fighting over a skeleton that wasn’t real or that he probably just doesn’t give a shit.

I only learned of this years later and since I started posting my writing, I didn’t want any hate since the original Sans caused such controversy even nowadays so I just left the idea. It’s stupid I know but people are harsh….I’ve seen excellent artists and storytellers leave the internet for good because of bullying. (I really like UnderPatch but the creator left because of bullying and people claiming their stuff as their own and nothing or not a lot was being done about this and people even thought THEY were the one copying so they stepped down).

I do want my stories to be canon as well….or well the characters to be accurate to how their creator made them. I just write for fun y’know? And I made a whole book series worth of ideas! But it’s stuff like this that make me worried about posting my writing at all.

But I don’t wanna stop writing cause I’m scared….but still. I’d rather be safe then sorry. When it comes to my own stories, The UnityTale AU, the self inserts, the core virus, Grey, Bunny, Sylvia and Virisity are mine. Other then that? The characters and AUs belong to their respected creators.

I know I’m venting a lot at this point but I feel like this should be addressed. I take topics like this very seriously and yes I write for fun, but I take my writing seriously as well. I’ve seen a lot of hate for misrepresenting a character, not giving credit to the original creators, shipping certain characters with self insert/original character/other characters. The list goes on.

After making this post, I should reblog this AND make a list of the respected creators. I made this post because as a fanfic writer, it’s fun to make up stories with the characters you love….but sometimes we need to give the original creators more love. There are some infamous undertale AUs that we still love but the creators left and possibly forever. And another reason is to say stop immediately giving writers or artists or ANY creator so much hate! And I don’t mean JUST the undertale fandom….I mean all types of fandoms.

You got people like me scared to write….or simply not want to try. I did it because I love writing and I wanted to share my stories. If people don’t care about it, so be it. If people like it? Well then I will appreciate every like, comment and follow! Even now I still do….

How do you keep your projects and other ideas organized? I keep stopping and starting and spinning my wheels and not getting much of anywhere because I keep getting overwhelmed, and I have so much I want to do! It seems like you've got a lot going on in your head, but manage to keep finishing projects and planning new ones out. Honestly? I'm kinda jealous...

I want to preface this with 2 things that are really important: I used to be horrible at finishing anything and what led to the most change for me was getting professional help for mental illness. Also, I still start a lot of projects I never finish, but these days the reasons when I don't finish a project are reasonable and not signs that I am not keeping it together.

I think "organize yourself better" feels like a reasonable ask but depending on what's causing your disorganization it can be pretty useless. If you're concerned that your organization is an issue: turn your project into a tutorial before you make it. This is only really relevant if you're making something from scratch but it helps to have all the materials, tools, and measurements listed out before you start so you aren't surprised by missing anything. It also helps you find holes in your plan as you run down everything on paper so you aren't stopping to figure things out once you're actually working. I don't know about you but for me stopping is hell. It's so hard for me to get back into the groove later so I want everything ready to go once I start working.

If you're working with existing tutorials the above is irrelevant but what you can do is keep everything you need for a project together so nothing is missing and everything is within reach. All my stuff used to be all over the place in plastic sterilite tubs in oth my closet and the storage room in our garage and it was a huge pain in the ass to find anything. It made working suck and then I'd just get frustrated and give up. For all my resin stuff I got these little stacking storage bins from Harbor Freight and then for my sewing + everything else stuff I got larger versions from amazon (expensive because it's a 12 pack).

Having nice storage also helps you to get stuff out of your face when you're not working on it. It's important to keep your workspace clean as possible because not having room to work makes actually working a pain. This is totally unreasonable to expect anyone to do, but I have 3 desks that wrap around half of my room so I have tons of space to work. Eventually I leave stuff all over the place and it drives me nuts and I have to hardcore clean and reorganize before I am comfortable enough to focus on work again though lol.

I had more to deal with than like physical organization though. A huge reason I used to give up on projects all the time was anxiety. I still kind of have anxiety but I'm better with dealing with it now. There are 2 major things that make me drop a project: the fear of messing up, and then actually messing up.

Sometimes I'll buy all the materials I need but then I can't bring myself to actually work on something because I'm so afraid that I'll mess up my materials and waste them all. Now when I have that problem I work with something inexpensive, like muslin when I'm sewing, or paper mockups for other physical items, and sometimes I make scale digital mockups with inkscape. This helps me get a feel for what I'm doing and then I don't freeze and abandon the idea.

The worst thing I had to deal with was getting over the like failure wave that would wash over me when I did mess something up. I used to have like hard stop, never turn back, abandon ship kind of reaction any time I screwed something up so I'd never complete the project after that point. But now I'm in the mindset that failure teaches me what not to do next time, and often I will complete a project despite messing it up so I can work through all the steps and see if there's anything else tricky I need to watch out for next time. That way it's a learning experience and not making me feel like I'm a failure who wasted time and effort and didn't even get anything out of it.

Sometimes though a project just doesn't vibe with you once you start working on it and it's ok to ditch it. Like I wanted to make something recently that was a super bizarre shape and would require me to hand sew both sides of two entire 30 inch zippers to lining and outer material for something I was working on. For real fuck that. I will keep the idea on my list and rework it some other time.

Oh also, make lists of everything you want to do. Have a word or google doc or a notebook and take notes a lot. Also save inspo photos to a folder on your phone or PC so you can look at them later. I save lots of ideas and photos that I like but have no intent of working with now because I may want to return to them later. Also follow artists on tumblr, twitter, instagram, twitch, youtube, wherever! You can get SO much inspiration from other artists. Also watch all their tutorial videos to learn new things even if it's not something you actively need for any projects at hand. I love watching other people work and seeing what they make and it really gets me ready to make something for myself!

BOOKS:

The 7-1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle: i read this one last month and it was amazing! such a good murder mystery. it kept me hooked through every single page. if you love a good mystery, try this one out.

The Song of Achilles: this is already a widely known book, but hand to god i hadn’t heard of it before this past year. it…ruined me. in all the best ways. i shove it in everyone’s face now. if you haven’t read it—DO IT.

The Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead: one of my all-time favorite series. it’s about a succubus living in seattle who works at a book store. it’s got demons and imps and vampires and angels and nephilim and an adorably shy author. it’s so fucking good, i’ve read the series at least 5 times now. incredibly well-written.

anything by Richelle Mead, actually. i’m a huge fan of all of her work. i was introduced into her work with the Vampire Academy series and i’ve read everything she’s written since then. they just finished casting the VA tv series for Peacock, so that’s something to look out for!

MOVIES/TV:

i’m super into horror, so if that’s not your thing just skip on down. also worth noting that i rewatch a lot of stuff. like more than i think other people do.

The Conjuring movies: they’re all incredible. that’s all i can say.

The Haunting of Hill House/The Haunting of Bly Manor: they’re not the same story but they’re equally great. i’m getting ready to rewatch Hill House bc it’s been a while and it’s fuzzy in my memory. Bly Manor makes me sob. the queer story they tell hits me so hard and the ending leaves me a mess, but it’s so worth it.

Midnight Mass: a new addition! i almost didn’t watch this due to some comments i saw on twitter, but i changed my mind and. omfg. i wouldn’t have forgiven myself if i never watched it. (Mike Flanagan is?? a genius?? he also did the two Hauntings mentioned above. his work is incredible.)

NBC’s Hannibal: listen. i will never ever shut up about it. i went in watching it before i knew Hannigram-the-ship was even a thing. but 👀. pushing the ship aside, the show is amazing. the cinematography is beautiful, the sets are elaborate and elegant. i’m obsessed. as a fan of Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal, i didn’t know how i’d feel about Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal but he adds something special to the character that’s so intriguing to me. (i wouldn’t explicitly list this as horror, but it IS gory. be forewarned.)

MUSIC:

eehhh i’m hesitant to recommend anything in this category for two reasons. 1. i do not branch out very often, if at all. 2. i don’t meet a lot of people who enjoy the post-hardcore type rock that i’m in love with. but! i’ll say what my current favorites are:

Eidola: their lead vocalist, Andrew Wells, is….okay. you ever feel really down and you can feel yourself going to a dark place, and then you go outside and the weather is perfect—like, 65 degrees and sunny and windy—and you just stop and feel the sunlight on your skin and it’s almost as if it’s warming you up from the inside? and suddenly that dark place isn’t so dark, and you feel something like hope? THAT is Andrew’s voice to me. (also he’s a beefcake and i might be in love with him) and their lyrics are so poetic and beautiful and they strike me right in my soul. so, if i’m recommending any of their songs to anyone, i would have to go with Perennial Philosophy or Elephant Bones. or Tetelestai. or Dendrochronology. and Sri Vishnu Yantra makes me scream sometimes. they’re literally my favorite band, i’d recommend it all. and ok so, they do mostly clean vocals but they also have screams in most of their stuff. and that’s why i never recommend music, bc most people balk at it lol. but it’s not heavy metal. it is not. heavy. metal. people sometimes make that mistake.

Circa Survive: another huge favorite of mine. the same type of genre, no screamo though! i’ve been listening to them for, god, over a decade now. similarly to Eidola, their lyrics are very beautiful, and paired with Anthony Green’s vocals and their instrumentals i just?? i can’t describe it. i have a lot of thoughts and feelings about their albums, mainly bc their stuff goes back to when i was in high school. so listening to their discography is like being in a time machine for me. it’s hard to recommend just a handful, but some songs i’d recommend are I’ll Find a Way, Through The Desert Alone, Flesh and Bone, and their entire new EP, A Dream About Love. specifically Drift, but the EP is only 6 songs and they’re all great.

Interview with Slippin’ Mickeys

Only 3 stories by Slippin’ Mickeys ended up at Gossamer, but she’s written many more stories than that. She’s also one of the few authors who posted numerous stories during the show’s original run and then again in the revival years. I’ve recced some of my favorites of her stories here, including Last Chance Falls and Currahee. Big thanks to Slippin’ Mickeys for doing this interview.

Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?

I would say that it does and doesn't surprise me. It surprises me that anyone would want to read something I wrote all those years ago, (only in that I was an actual teenager at the time, and had no chops at all -- I've grown a lot as a writer, and honestly have trouble reading my old stuff because I would have made much different creative decisions now). But the fanfiction that came out of the original run of the show -- from almost day one -- was so rich and varied and a lot of it so well written that I am not the least bit surprised that people want to read it today. I go back and read old favorites often, and am always thrilled to find something that's new-to-me, even if it's 27 years old.

What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?

The first thing I think about when I think about my fandom experience are the friends I made along the way. The X-Files came up with the internet, and there was a whole new way of connecting with people that liked the things that you liked. To this day, I am good friends with many people that I met through the show back in 1997-98. When the revival came about, I dove back in, and made new, more recent friendships that are just as rich. I love the show, but I also love the people I met along the way.

Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?

I first got into the show's online community on some random message board that I think I probably found through a Yahoo search one day in a computer lab on my university's campus. I connected with one woman from Greece named Fay that day, who invited me to join a group of women that chatted about the show after it aired on Monday nights. After the first time I hooked up with them, we talked almost daily via ICQ. Later, in the early aughts, I found the forums on Mighty Big TV/Television Without Pity, where some of the most intelligent discussion was going on. The forums were heavily moderated, and so they were always on topic, and it was just a smart, funny, great place to be.

Eventually, I started working for TWoP as both a writer and moderator (surprise! A lot of people don't know this because TWoP protected the identities of their mods so well, but I was the X-Files board mod after Jessica left!). It was my first paid writing gig and opened doors for me both professionally and personally. Two TWoP recappers were in my wedding!

What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?

Fanfiction opened my eyes to storytelling as a medium. I'd obviously gone to school and read books, but it opened my eyes to words to could do and be. It was a heady time. There were stories of every stripe. Short, long, canon-compliant, AU, experimental, you name it. We had such gifted writers, too. To this day, I'd almost rather read a piece of well written fanfic than a good book. Fanfic made me want to be a storyteller myself.

What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?

It was the 'ship. God bless the ship. My first episode was Never Again, but I didn't watch again until I was sitting with my college roommate freshman year and she was like "sorry, but I have to watch The X-Files on Sunday nights." That first episode was Redux. The next week was Redux II, and by then it was all over for me. The lengths Mulder and Scully would go to for each other? And the relationship wasn't even sexual? Here were two people who loved each other. Really loved each other. Selflessly. I was SO IN.

What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?

At first, I started reading it. This was back when you could only watch the show in reruns or on those VHS tapes that were sold in three packs that had two eps on each tape (I still have the trading cards that came with them), so after I burned through the VHS options (of which there were few), and set my VCR to tape the weekly reruns on FX, I needed MORE. I found fanfic. And in fanfic, Mulder and Scully actually like, kissed and maybe even had sex! I read everything I could get my hands on. Pretty soon, I wanted to write it myself.

What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?

Things are tough these days. It's a hard world to live in, and politics aside, it just feels like everything is falling apart around us. When I first found the show, my life was in a bit of upheaval and I dove into the fandom to distract myself. I'm doing the same thing these days. When the show ended, I left the fandom and lived without it for about 15 years. But when the revival came (and really only after finishing season 11 -- season 10 didn't do much for me), I dove back in. I have quite a few more responsibilities these days, but when I can't watch the news anymore, I log on to XF Twitter (I use my fandom account far more than my IRL account) or Tumblr and get lost for a while. And most nights find me reading or writing fanfic before bed. When the world gets better (I'm cautiously optimistic) and the show has been off the air for years and years, will I leave again? Maybe. But for now, it's once again my happy place.

Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?

Nothing hardcore. The X-Files is my ride or die.

Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?

I do an occasional episode or movie rewatch. Not too often, but when I'm jonesing and have 45 free minutes, I'll put one on. But I'm writing fanfic again, and I get hit with inspiration at random and odd intervals, so it's safe to say I find myself thinking about Mulder and Scully probably more than is healthy.

Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?

All the time. The old stuff, the new stuff, the good stuff. If I have five minutes and my kid is entertaining himself? I'll happy pull out an old favorite.

Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?

I'm reluctantly abstaining from this question, as I'm still active in the fandom and I know that naming favorites will hurt some feelings.

What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?

Of The Eight Winds is probably my favorite. I've had a lot of fun writing AU's lately. It's a nice creative outlet, taking our favorite agents and plunking them in a totally different world.

Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?

Do I! I have a whole ass queue. It's frankly irresponsible.

Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?

I was writing professionally before I had a baby, and I took years off to be a stay at home mom. Once my kiddo was finally in school full time, I started writing again. With the pandemic, that's for the most part on hold, as I just don't have the bandwidth to dedicate to professional work. Fanfic is easier to play with when you only have five minutes here or there, and it's also great exercise when it comes to plotting and prose, so I'm  sticking with fic for now. When the kiddos are all back in school, maybe I can start getting paid again.

Where do you get ideas for stories?

I get a lot of prompts that I just adore. And honestly, a lot of times, I'll post a stupid picture or ridiculous prompt of my own on Twitter and get dared to write it. If the idea gets stuck in my craw, I generally have to exorcise the demon.

What's the story behind your pen name?

Bad Blood had just aired and I was obsessed with it. I wanted to pay homage to it, so took Mulder's "who slipped him the mickey?" quote and ran with it. Do I regret that? Sometimes.

Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?

My husband knows and is supportive. He's a working writer, so he supports my endeavors, though I know he wishes I were doing something I could monetize. But it makes me happy, and ultimately: happy wife, happy life and all that jazz.

The friends of mine that I've made through the fandom all know and are super supportive.

As for the rest, well... I have a nom de plume on purpose!

Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?

All my newest work is on AO3. My old stuff can be found on various archives. Like the truth... it's out there.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?

I'd leave it with: we're a blessed fandom. The show we stan (even with the real stinkers, there's always something to love) keeps giving, the fellow fans are all some of the smartest, sweetest, and most dedicated people out there... we've been blessed for 25 years, and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

So many fantastic interactions for Thor, not just with Fosterson (which is BEYOND perfect), but the whole team. Plus: naked Thor fighting bad guys in an apron. came across this korean mystery vn and i knew i had to get it bc someone commented that it had a similar feel to danganronpa/zero escape O: seems like i have a type

i usually don’t prefer to get digital copies of games but there was really no choice... i heard the physical copy is sold out in korea and resales are going for 200 USD ain’t nobody got money for that

i don’t think anyone i know is gonna purchase this game and play for themselves and i can’t share the game either bc it’s a digital copy sooo i’m gonna write a review~ please enjoy!!

basically the plot goes as such: the survival reality tv show Buried Stars was about to commence the finals of its current season with the remaining five contestants when the building suddenly collapses. most of the audience and staff members were safely evacuated except for seven ppl (the five contestants and two staff members) who are trapped in the wreckage with just their smartwatches that connects them to the outside world via calls (problematic bc they can only call a restricted number of ppl and the signal inside is shit) and phater (bootleg twitter). after trying to make some calls, everyone was then told that the rescue team would take around six hours to break into the collapsed building to get them out.

ok so they just have to wait it out... in an unstable building that can come down at any moment. cool.

then!!! they find the producer’s dead body, seemingly a victim to the falling debris!! they’re down to six survivors now.

despite the circumstances, voting is still ongoing and some rando on phater claims that the contestant in the last place will die as if the atmosphere wasn’t bad enough.

this is your smartwatch interface!! most of the functions are pretty useless with regards to the actual gameplay but it’s just fun to play around with them i guess

for e.g. you can change the background and ringtone but they don’t affect anything

there’s this feature that keeps track of changes that occur when you pick certain conversation topics during communication rounds and it’s really useful for replays!! too bad it doesn’t keep track of sanity changes in mc

this is the mc!! even though he looks like he would be a tsundere punk he’s actually very soft?? kinda like saihara but with a bit more spine

i lowkey ship them bc of their interactions alsjdkasjs jUST LOOK AT THIS

i was expecting there to be a lot of mysteries but given the circumstances i guess it makes sense to not have that many... there’s no murder mystery if it happened in an accident site and looked like an accident you see

a lot of conversation topics focus on the character’s backstory and stuff so you get to learn more about the characters while waiting for rescue (one of the goals of this game is actually to collect characters’ profiles!)

bonding through a shared traumatic experience sounds reasonable

did i mention that the cutscenes are fully voiced (either in korean or japanese depending on your preference)?? i played it in korean for my first gameplay for ~Optimal Experience~ but i switched to japanese in subsequent plays bc i wanted to be able to understand what the characters were saying without reading the text

the only thing that throws me off is that characters are given japanese names in the japanese dub but the in-game text still uses their korean names??? why

my boi gyu-hyuk is voiced by takuya eguchi and hyesung is voiced by shimono hiro (i actually doubted my ears at first bc hyesung sounds angry 24/7 and i only know shimono’s derpy zenitsu and troll ouma voices sweats;;) wOW 👍👍👍

the first ending is the same for everyone even if you picked the best options

they call it a “normal end” but tbh it’s a bad end bc everyone dies and nothing is resolved

after you clear the game for the first time you will get to replay from the start but your options will change so you can proceed towards other routes!! yay

oh yeah in case anyone is wondering this game is rated T and bodies are shown in the form of a silhouette with non-explicit close-ups during investigation so if you can’t handle graphic stuff it’s not too bad

while playing, i thought to myself... if there was one person i would glue do-yoon to throughout the entire game it would be gyu-hyuk... bc i was certain he wouldn’t hurt do-yoon

i was right tho... even in some routes where do-yoon catches him in the act, gyu-hyuk didn’t try to silence him

yeah i also want to know why do-yoon is the only one still hospitalised with all those bandages when everyone else is fine but i guess maybe he got injured when he protected gyu-hyuk from falling debris at the start of the game

if you don’t find out the true culprit of the murders gyu-hyuk goes free and he visits you every day in the hospital aND SAYS STUFF LIKE THIS

there’s also a joke ending (when you pick the “i’m the attacker” option lmao) which i appreciate a lot!! something to lighten the tense mood is what i crave for in games like this

somehow i feel like it’s even scarier than the usual atmosphere bc of how ooc everyone acts

BUT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT’S REALLY SCARY?

there’s a horror route that you can enter by using the “laboratory” conversation topic on everyone and expressing how much it creeps you out

and the entire game shifts in genre to actual horror (like with paranormal activities)

IT WAS REALLY SCARY AND THERE WERE HANDS EVERYWHERE AND EVERYONE WAS ACTING WEIRD ASLJELKASJ i had my eyes closed half the time and i regret playing on my monitor

i didn’t take many screenshots bc as i mentioned my eyes were not looking at the screen for most part but i hope that you can kinda understand where i’m coming from with these two screenshots

the game is actually split into two major routes (A and B) which differ in who gets saved and who dies

you can only start on the B route after you get the true ending which is in the A route

unfortunately there is no route where everyone (even if you exclude the producer bc she dies before do-yoon regains consciousness at the start of the game) survives TT

if hyesung and seil survive then gyu-hyuk kills himself and leaves a note but do-yoon tears it up so we don’t know what he wrote

overall a solid mystery vn with beautiful graphics and enough routes to keep you occupied for many hours!! i highly recommend following a walkthrough bc it’s not an easy game if you want to collect all the possible endings and achievements

cuz there are minor changes to the epilogue depending on how close you are with the characters

i actually don’t play a lot of VNs but i feel like all VNs need the route map thingy in AI: the somnium files

my only gripe about this game is prob the derpy translations which usually isn’t a big issue (imo at least) but for a game priced this high?? i expected better

Not remotely as much time as I used, that’s for sure. Anywhere from an hour (if I’m rereading That favorite fic) to 2-4 hours if my friend has sent me a longfic again.

I...didn’t even know this was a thing tbh, so no. Sounds very neat but also I don’t listen to audio books anymore bcus my attention span re: audio input has gotten so bad over the years I can’t focus for more than a few minutes.

AUs AUs AUs. and fantasy. and fantasy AUs (although good long AU fics are harder to find). I am a very simple person. I see magic mentioned, I read. I also read a lot of romance fic (proving once again that fanfic writing is often better than mainstream original writing, bcus romance is one of my least favorite YA/movie genres). I don’t read as much of them but I also love mystery and paranormal fics

8. Are there any genres that you tend to avoid?

Super angsty no happy ending type stuff. “Major Character Death” is an automatic nope lmao (unless the summary looks reaallyyy interesting or it was recc’d to me). Tragedy is definitely Not my thing

I don’t track any fic tags (I stopped tracking tags at all since Tumblr changed it from “keeping track of new posts in said tag” to “dropping random posts from that tag into the middle of your dash, and usually the same three”)

Nowadays I mostly just read what friends send me or the new stuff a very few writers I follow post, but sometimes I also come across stuff through Twitter or Tumblr and curiosity wins out

I..don’t? Is this a thing people do?? If I wanna reread something I either search through my bookmarks by title/author or just. filter by fandom.

Yeh. I only keep up with a very select few of them though. altho part of that is due to several of them being people I followed on fanfic.net years and years ago and never unfollowed, even though our interests may no longer be the same. (the other part is me going “oh I’ll read that later” and then just. never doing it.)

when I get one I have a few seconds of “oh someone kinda liked this thing I wrote” and then I carry on about my day >.>;;; (I do appreciate them tho)

I don’t comment as often as I mean to or wish I did, but when I do they’re loong comments (I’ve passed the AO3 character limit at least once kshg)

I tend to quote favorite parts and then react to them, and I like to theorize and ask questions about character’s thoughts at a certain part or what author imagines happens before/after the fic

19. Have you ever stopped reading a fic? Why or why not?

Yes. Once because I stumbled into a very sexually explicit fic when that was. Not at all what I was expecting (I was also very young lol), I think there was a very few I quit because they were boring or very poorly written, but most often I “quit” a fic for the same reason I don’t do audio books anymore lmao: because my attention span is sht and my motivation and commitment are extremely fickle things. I either forget or just wander away for a bit and then forget. Often I mean to come back and finish it; it’s just a matter of how long it takes. (I also second hand embarrassed out of a fic so hardcore that it’s been a whole 9 months since I’ve touched it khdfgd)

Mending Bonds and If the Heart Breaks, Does That Mean There’s No Home? by RussianSunflower3 

Mending Bonds is soft found family fluff centering on a very minor fave of mine and If the Heart Breaks is very angsty found family fluff that also focuses on some minor characters and it always hurts my heart but the ending and the soft middle always heal it right back up (“[Hanamaki] has a heart big enough for everyone in the world, and then some.” ohhhh my godd)

Boiled Frogs by ReginaGalaxia 

this one is. a really hard read centered around emotional abuse and manipulation and hoooo boy it is a rough read especially if you’ve experienced any of that personally but it’s so well written and the character dynamics are great and in its lighter moments it’s fricking hilarious.

 bits and pieces only bcus Roost has a lot of very heavy dark content that I’d have to be in a specific mood to reread the whole thing because it hurts my heart way too much but also it’s one of the best Fukurodani-centric longfics I’ve ever read (PLUS AN AU..!!) and I love love how they write the characters and how much focus there is on the minor members and ships and in its lighter moments Roost is also really funny the most recent chapter was hilarious

At what point can you pry an interesting setting and a reasonable plot out of hackey, thudding prose?  I keep running into this problem with science fiction, even stuff that's fairly modern and highly recommended, where it's like a goddamned laundry list of activity with no connective tissue or life to it.   Like you’re reading along and it might as well be

Brian McAstronaut awoke in his space-bedroom to find that the ship's solar sails had become tangled in some space-debris while he slept.  He would have thought 'overnight' instead of 'while he slept,' but of course he was in space and so there was no such thing as 'day' or 'night.' There was only sleeping in his space-bedroom and being awake in his spaceship.  The year was 3030, and not being in space was something that people did in the Before Times, back when they lived on Earth and drank earth-liquor and believed in climate change.   Brian McAstronaut lived now, and in space, and he only believed in himself and his solar sails, because his exceptionally clear idea of what life was like in 2020 in spite of that having been a really long time ago gave him some really cool and cynical ideas about the nature of men.  That was dangerously close to introspection, though, and he decided to stop doing it, because introspection was for people in other genres.  Brian McAstronaut scrambled the semi-sentient space robots to go out into space and straighten the solar sails, which his spaceship needed to travel through space. As he watched them work, he drank some space-liquor and listened to a piece of wildly anachronistic music that, presumably, the author likes very much or thinks will make the character sound cool or cultured to the readers, like if this was all happening here on Earth and now in the year of our lord 2019 and the character was listening to a troubadour's banging lute solo on his airpods.  Which would be pretty great, wouldn't it, if we found some weird old-ass science fiction where the protagonist is listening to a rhapsody on their electric pianoforte and never mind, that's Jules Verne. Anyway, as Brian McAstronaut drank his space-liquor and listened to that Rolling Stones album you had to be a really hardcore Rolling Stones fan to like, he looked out at the stars and waited while the author absolutely ransacked a fucking thesaurus to describe the panorama.  It did not affect him emotionally in any way, because having emotions is for girls, or maybe for people who aren't in science fiction novels, which is basically the same thing.  Brian McAstronaut had always lived in space.  Living in space was what Brian McAstronaut did.  Being impressed with space instead of alternating fighting for survival in space with treating space like it was his sofa in a twenty-first century living room was for people who weren't Brian McAstronaut. And it's not that the writers are necessarily incapable of making it better.  The book I'm reading now is fairly interesting when it dives into its self-contained stories and leaves the main narrative in the dust, but the second it crawls back out into the bitter blast of the main narrative, it's "Brian McAstronaut did this" and "Brian McAstronaut did that" and Brian McAstronaut better wind up being a badly-programmed android or some shit, because there's really no excuse for this.   Your protagonist is not a wooden puppet to carry your plot around--even the pulp detective guys churning out murder mysteries for a penny a page knew that.  It's also like... I mean, not to tell science fiction authors how to do their jobs, but ideally your prose should do something other than give space fetishists something to jerk off to.  There's the old razzle-dazzle, and then there's just whaling on the genre descriptor buttons like a drunk dude playing whack-a-mole. Like don't go out and start writing something like Brian McAstronaut ran his callused, manly hands over the glossy black hull of his new ship.  It jutted proudly from the platform, its two heavy rockets hanging below it in an extra virile way.  The extremely phallic, powerful spaceship excited him, but not in an overtly gay way, because the primary market for these books is straight men who are weirdly insecure in their own masculinity, and if they wind up conflicted about how a scene makes them feel in the pants department, they'll leave a bunch of one-star reviews on Amazon and spend all their free time calling the author a cuck on reddit.   Brian McAstronaut was super-secure in his own masculinity, because he had a spaceship kitted out with all the bells and whistles, which are of course named after twentieth- and twenty-first-century physicists--male physicists--because physics stopped being done after that and also because we're all running around right now hitting our Lanchester brakes in cars powered by Benz engines while our phones use a Haartsen connection to blast music over our de Forest speakers.  Brian McAstronaut was glad he'd shelled out the extra credits for the optional ramjets, which made him feel a very straightforward and normal way in the pants department. The entrance to his new spaceship was a vertical slit located between the two rockets--full to bursting with rocketfuel, just ready to spray it all over the stars--and Brian headed for it like a man on a mission, like a man's man who knew what he was doing and had never disappointed anyone with a rocket in his life.  He grabbed the hefty entrance handle firmly and confidently, by the base, and pushed his way into the dark warmth of the vertical slit.  It was keyed to his unique genetic imprint, and it telescoped open, welcoming him home. Inside, the spaceship was spartan but inviting, needing no furniture or decoration or anything other than the quiet of the red womb-chamber.  He could spend years here, suspended in cryogenic sleep, one with the ship while they sped across the stars.  It would just be the two of them, Brian McAstronaut and his ship--the ship which was all his, and which he would never have to share with another person.  He was pretty sure the ship loved him, and that this was a perfectly ordinary conviction to have.  It was certainly very normal to not have to care about the rest of society, or how much time was passing, or whether or not his friends missed him, so long as he was one with the ship.  He was like twentieth-century actor John Wayne, when twentieth-century actor John Wayne was astride a horse. Everything that wasn't the womb-chamber was full of computerbanks and monitors and blinking lights that he could control with his strong man hands.  Nothing would happen without him inputting commands, which was just how it should be.  He was the man who hit the space-buttons and charted the space-course and decided when to pull over for more rocketfuel. Brian McAstronaut climbed into the womb-chamber and pushed the red button next to the emergency brake for the onboard Nixon recorded.  A Schimmelbusch mask was extruded from the placental lining, and Brian McAstronaut took it gratefully, wrapping himself in the thin, flexible umbilicus that trailed from it to the ship's life support system. "Mother," Brian McAstronaut said, breathing in the cryosleep space-gas.  This was a normal thing to say, and he didn't feel at all weird about it.  A nineteenth-century psychologist called Sigmund Freud had discovered that this was a perfectly healthy response that perfectly healthy men had to womb-chambers, and Brian McAstronaut didn't need space-therapy to deal with his space-issues. On the launchpad, a space-dockhand pounded on the hull yelling about the ship being parked outside the lines and tying up the pad, but he couldn't get in because it wasn't his ship, and Brian McAstronaut's ship only loved Brian McAstronaut and, maybe, a special resupply ship or two that also loved Brian McAstronaut and so the ship would be willing to share him every so often.

Also, if you slam on the brakes every few pages for five paragraphs of salivating descriptors that are just a SkyMall catalog of shit coke-addled futurists and thought-leaders were giving tedtalks about the month you wrote it, it's pointless and annoying and dumb and also it dates the shit out of your story.   Like, most science fiction is going to feel dated after a bit no matter what.  It's the nature of the beast.  Ideally, you want to avoid everyone in your target audience picking up the book a mere three years down the road and a) feeling like they opened a time capsule and b) being able to tell precisely when you wrote a scene just by searching Cory Doctorow or Warren Ellis's twitter feeds for the relevant buzzwords.   In conclusion, I know we're not all out here writing fucking Shakespeare, but these really aren't that hard to avoid!  At all!  Just... hire an editor who's not high on their own supply or something.

When are u going to give up and just ship Lightis already? U mentioned being in a discord so U clearly kind of ship it, ur posts don't get any notes so ur 'raire pair' or whatever u call it isn't all that popular and ur trying to keep it alive as long as possible before it sputters and dies. Square Enix already acknowledged the existence of lightis. Ur videos, hcs and edits are trash, lightning or ravus would never act that way and it shows that u only like them because favorite characters.

Oh boy, ok, you know, I’m actually going to tag this and not ignore something like this. Why? Because I’m honestly tired of it. And I want to call out everyone who has this kind of mentality. Especially to those who ship rare pairs.

Fun fact, I have gotten messages like these multiple times, telling me to stop, just give in, quit shipping it, this one is better, etc. 

Just to let you know, do you want to know how hard it is? Being almost the only person who is for a ship? You have people on Twitter attacking it because they might assume I’m not on there, you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel trying to find ways to promote it, just about hoping that someone out there sees and becomes interested in what it has to offer. 

Why? Just in order to have someone to talk to, to have a shared interest, ships bring people together just as much as they tear them apart. Why else do you think I get so excited when someone else messages me about it? The only reason I haven’t turned off anons is because I enjoy the questions, the interest and the want to see more! Do you know how happy that makes people when they find that small minority who actually like this?? 

People like you make me just hate the concept of shipping, and you want to know why? This kind of thing is what made me originally hate Lightis in the first place. And honestly, I’m so glad I joined that discord, because now I know that the lot of you aren’t scumbags who insult anyone who doesn’t ship it, attack the favorite characters of the person who disagrees, and act as if they’re stupid for not being on board with it.

Fun fact?

My first experience with this was after I played XV, I tried to join a relatively small rp group because I enjoyed that sort of thing. It was a generally just final fantasy, mediocre tame stuff, little quests, relationship building, etc. Well, there was a discussion topic and the mention of ships came up.

Everyone was so insistent on the ‘dark and brooding’ Noctis being like some kind of killer, and Lightning leading him to the light or fighting him or some shit. What’s worse was that they were acting like this Noctis was cannon. I tried to play it off, saying that it would be cool if it was an AU, because Noctis is actually just some awkward dork. Well guess what happened? Immediately I was asked who I shipped Noctis with, when I admitted to it being Luna because I adored the long distance communication thing and I could somewhat relate, I was immediately swarmed with insults on her character, on how her relationship was handled, on how weak she was.

There were people insisting that Lightis would have been cannon because of same universe shit, how they were made to be with each other, just, everything. I can’t even begin to tell you how overwhelmed I got until I was basically kicked from the group because of the massive drama I caused. 

Later on, I began to rp again, where I made a bunch of friends and I still adore them and try to keep in touch to this day. However, there was one who admittedly became quite toxic when my Ravus and Lightning grew close and we started throwing around ideas for a ship, tada!thebirthofmyrairepair! So, this toxic ‘friend’ happened to be a Lightis shipper as well and subsequently drove my Lightning rp buddy away and hijacked the entire thing we had going on.

After all this, you think I would absolutely despise the ship and what’s associated? No, I don’t. I have a lot of people whom I consider friends, and they all ship Lightis hardcore. But they listen whenever I go on one of my Raire rambles, and I’m so grateful for it, and sorry for burdening them! This in a whole has raised my opinion on the ship tremendously, and I’ve even made edits and requests for it!

However, some people aren’t so lucky, they don’t find a group of people who are like this, it can be pretty rare. 

So people who says the things that you do, who drag people for shipping things, who insist you just ship what you think is right?

You guys are some of the worst.

And it’s people like you who drive people away from a fandom, from a ship, from a character, and leave just a sick feeling of hatred for it.

And this applies to all fandoms.

Respect most ships. There are places where a line needs to be drawn, but if it’s doing no harm and it’s healthy, then please, just let people have their fun.

SPN Fans? (Beware VERY VERY Long Post!)

There has only ever been a very small handful of times where I have had to make a public post to call out hypocrisy in this fandom. And now, again, this is one of those times.These past few days I have seen fans, specifically Destiel & Cockles fans, hating on both Jensen & Jared. Some of these fans reasons being valid, while other reasons are just to be malicious to these men simply for the attention of a retweet on Twitter or reblog on Tumblr.

Just to be clear before I even start to delve deep into the several topics of what I am about to discuss. Yes I am a “AA” or whatever people like to insult Jensen fans with. And yes I am a fan and appreciate Jared. And lastly, yes I do ship Wincest. I am not ashamed of it either. All this evidence is visible when you (because I know some of you will) click on my account to view my posts. I normally avoid drama because I am fan that likes to reblog or to simply make posts that support the boys and the wonderful show that is Supernatural. But I do have a decent following and amount of followers on here. And me staying quite on issues like this is almost as bad as the malicious people who attack the SPN actors out of spite.

Now to get to the matters at hand.

Jensen Ackles: I’ve seen Destiel Fans hate on Jensen because he quote on quote “doesn’t speak up enough on political issues.” And when he does he still receives mass amounts of criticism for it. An example of this is when Jensen recently made that #metoo tweet on Twitter to show support for women who have been sexually abused/assaulted/and or harassed. And when I looked at his mentions I honestly cannot even give you the exact number of how many people attacked him for showing support to women because there were so many. I could have taken screenshots & added them in this post, but I wont. That is how disgusting I found them. If anyone would like to know what I am talking about for proof all you have to do is go to Jensen’s Twitter, click on the #metoo tweet, and see for yourself.

Another thing Jensen receives hate for and fans have called him homophobic for is because he said “Destiel doesn’t exist” at a convention. I do understand if you are a hardcore Cockles or Destiel shipper and what Jensen said grated your nerves. It is a common human emotion to be upset. What is NOT okay is to tag him on Twitter calling him all sorts of derogatory hateful slurs because your feelings got hurt over a fictional ship. I’d like to point out that Jensen being called homophobic has not happened recently, but when it did happen mass amounts of people dragged him. And yes I did call Destiel a fictional ship because it is not canon. That’s not a dig at the ship or anyone who participates in that part of the fandom either. That is literally just the truth. Destiel isn’t canon the same way Wincest isn’t.

When Jensen first dismissed Destiel questions at a J2 panel, within days the top Google search when typing Jensen Ackles name in the search bar was “Jensen Ackles is homophobic.” It stayed like that to for a long time. And it is crazy that people in this fandom do not realize how fucking damaging rumors like that can be to someones career let alone how that might make them feel if they were to see what was being said about them. 

Could Jensen have handled Destiel questions better? Absolutely. But the fact that fans started career damaging rumors about him out of spite of what he said is extremely harmful. 

The most recent thing Jensen has been dragged for is for liking a Blue Lives Matter post. Even I am a huge fan of Jensen and even I know that shit was wrong. But instead of attempting to educate him respectfully on his ignorance, he received slurs and name calling instead.  

Jared Padalecki: Recently Jared has been getting hate for calling out bad service on his social media in front of his several million followers. The first few times he did it, those could be semi excusable because everybody has their days where they’re off. I do believe fans had the right to say “man that isn’t cool, please delete this.” But instead of doing exactly that and trying to educate in a calm, cool and collected manner. The same way they should have done to Jensen when he liked that Blue Lives Matter post. Some of you do the exact opposite. You berate Jared with your words in attempt to make him feel lesser than. As if you fans not tagging him on Twitter means he won’t see the shit you say about him. It’s damn near common knowledge that most celebrities search themselves up online.

And the comments some of you say to Jared shake me to my core. When I see some of you telling Jared to kill himself, it literally hurts me which is a bit insane because these comments are not even directed at me. Fans wishing that Jared would die, makes me scared for his life. And I’m not trying to play that card of “ooooooohh poor weak Jared! He has depression! Everyone please be nice to him! Let him be, poor weak little soul! Awww!”

No, I realize Jared has made mistakes. But the way some of you go about correcting him is appalling. I am shaking as I write this because you are telling someone to die who has publicly said MULTIPLE TIMES he’s wanted to die and has been on the verge of almost killing himself, that he is basically a worthless piece of shit. Those types of comments literally make me want to cry which bothers me because I don’t consider myself a weak minded person. Not after all the obstacles I have personally went through. Jared, like Jensen, is a grown man that I’m sure can handle some criticism. But the criticism some of you show isn’t educational criticism at all it’s hate. And I have to say is that if Jared ever tried to hurt himself over something he’s read online that a supposed “fan” sent him, you will always be vile to me.

Jared’s most recent call out tweet, was that wrong? I have to say yes. And that is not hate, just truth. But clearly Jared learned his lesson seeing as he deleted the tweet within the first few minutes. 

Final Thoughts: It’s very sad to me that fans, and lets be honest here, mostly Destiel and Cockles shippers with Misha in their icons are the ones that continue to attack Jared and Jensen for things that happened years ago. Could you imagine everyone bringing up your past only to throw it in your face every five seconds? Most of you are lucky stuff like that does not happen to you like it does for celebrities in general every morning they wake up. Some celebs deserve criticism while others don’t.

What’s also fascinating is that a specific group of fans continue to drag Jared for calling out bad service or defame Jensen for several different matters like dismissing the ship that is Destiel. When only a few years ago Misha Collins was making racist and disgusting slavery jokes on Twitter.

It’s jokes like the one Misha made a few years back that literally give more examples and reasons as to why informative enlightening groups like Black Lives Matter exists. It is also jokes like that being the reason why I still get the “she must be angry” simply because I am a black woman who was having a bad day and didn’t feel like smiling at any creepy ass men. 

Stereotypes like the “black women are always angry” are so fucking hurtful and I can’t stand all the misogynistic and racist people out there. This fandom claims they’re so progressive but are the first ones to call a women or even some men of a certain age “old hags” or say things like “you’re too old to be in a fandom”.

As a woman of color I was extremely offended, hurt, and surprised when Misha made those borderline racist tweets. Did he apologize? Sort of. In the second screenshot above, that apology was half-assed. I still cannot for the life on me wonder why he seemed surprised that a slavery joke like that would not receive backlash just because he does a lot of great charity work. And that slavery joke that he made on Twitter is the number one reason why I can’t and will not support Misha and his endeavors. But despite the fact that I do not support Misha, you don’t see me slandering his name every five seconds either.

To be clear I don’t think Misha is a racist nor do I believe that people should loom this over his head for the rest of eternity. But I’m using this as example to show that like Misha, both Jensen and Jared have made mistakes. And to bring up their mistakes on a constant basis like Misha’s fans seem to do to Jared and Jensen whenever possible is out of decent respectful humane character.

There is one thing no one in this dysfunctional fandom can deny. And that is that all three of these men have some of the biggest hearts, when it comes to charity, in the sexist world that is Hollywood. And the fact that some fans can’t even let Jensen, Jared, or Misha do any charity work without them supposedly having some sort of hidden deceitful agenda behind their motives it is truly sickening. 

Now before anyone attacks me on bringing up old news, like the racist tweets on Misha, decides to say that I just contradicted myself. Or that I am trying to bring Jensen and Jared up while tearing Misha down. That isn’t even the case.The point I was trying to make was that I or anyone else really could say and do that EXACT same thing, in regards to bringing up old mistakes, the same way some of you do to Jensen and Jared whenever you get the chance or whenever they do or say something you don’t like. Jared, Jensen, and Misha are not your puppets. They don’t jump when you say jump and they will continue to make mistakes. Which isn’t all that surprising seeing as they are human beings with emotions like everyone else.

I realize many people will not take this post and message the way it was meant to be, which is honestly to stop being so petty and let people ship what they want to ship. And let them love their faves. No, I’m sure a good amount of people will see this post as something to start up drama. But it’s fine because I would not have made this post if I couldn’t handle people not agreeing with me.

This fandom always talks about how they support women, they don’t bully, and that they support the LGBTQ community. Now lets see if I get attacked and berated for expressing my opinion. 

I am going to put this post in the tags because I feel like it is extremely important. No matter your take away from my post and message I am trying to send. It is critical to realize that at the end of day, it is okay to respectfully call a celebrity out without any hidden shade and name calling. But it is not okay to tell Jared to kill himself, call Jensen homophobic or racist for liking that Blue Lives Matter post when you don’t know his stance on anything. It’s also not okay for people to tag Misha in their slander either.

It really is time for fans to start respecting Jared, Jensen, and Misha. This fandom is headed down the wrong path. And we really need to fix it before it’s too late.

Regarding that Musical Recap

So, much like many of you, after Recap-Gate I had a lot of feelings.

Pain then anger then retweet, retweet, retweet, dear god I need to go out into the real world and get off twitter!

I’m not even a hardcore SuperCorp shipper. I ship it but I don’t go crazy over it. I like a lot of ships on the show and I actually did think that, of nearly all of my ships, that Supercorp had the best chance of becoming canon rather than fanon.

Then Jeremy started singing.

Let’s get this first part out of the way. That song was a dick move. The passion he used when crushing the fandom was a dick move. Melissa’s glee while yelling along was a dick move. Saying he debunked the ship was a dick move. Calling that statement brave was yet another dick move.

I’ve seen a lot of these dick moves in television over the years, with social media making it so much easier for social missteps to occur. About a week ago I watched the show runner for Wynonna Earp be completely rude to a fan who was simply trying to compliment her. She blocked said fan and then other fans who tried to help her out. Wynonna Earp lives and breathes on the tenacious dedication of its fan base. These people worked HARD to get a third season out of that show and they succeeded. It seems to me that it would be important to be kind to the people that made that happen but I do believe that people working in the industry have started to let the bad apples color their perception of the bunch. Leaving them with this contentious fan dynamic that often leads to really terrible treatment at times.

And let’s not even get into the atrocity that is Once Upon a Time; the quintessential example of queerbaiting and then fan demeaning.

Today’s climate seems to be a cyclical downpour of pandering and pounding from the people who make lots of money off the people that keep them making lots of money. Fans become rabid about their ship and annoy show runners, writers and actors. Show runners, writers and actors have a bigger voice and use it to toss barbs at fans. Hate, hate, hate. Apology, apology, apology. New show comes around and we all line up for the merry-go-round again.

I feel like a few things need to happen here:

1.Know the power of your presence and how to use it: Melissa said something extremely interesting while she also said something extremely offensive. She called Jeremy brave for destroying SuperCorp. Now, she could mean because she knew the repercussions on social media would be severe but I think it probably goes deeper than that. SuperCorp is a huge chunk of the Supergirl fan base. If they no longer have any reason to hold onto that ship then they are only going to stay if a) They ship Sanvers or b) They actually like the direction the show is headed. Most self-respecting women do not like watching a once powerful symbol of hope turn into a another white dude’s girlfriend. Don’t get me wrong. I think Mon-El is great for comic relief but to be Kara’s ‘whole world’? I weep for the Supergirl who used to inspire me. The point is, Jeremy’s statement was a bold, not brave, move because if he sends the Supercorp camp packing, ratings will take a downward turn when they’re already not looking so hot. If you’re a Supercorp shipper, you now have a great deal of power. Show them who they just hurt. Not only with your tweets but with your viewership. Download the show. Don’t watch live. Don’t support trends. Let them feel the pain of your loss so that, perhaps, demeaning your ship goes from ‘brave’ to ‘economically insane’.

2. Actually do step 1. Seriously, guys, Once Upon a Time survived and continuously spit in the face of one of its largest audiences because everyone continued to watch live or on a measurable media source. Respect yourself enough to take your own power back. STOP GIVING THEM YOUR RATINGS!

3. Read steps 1 and 2 again for good measure because I know you and you’re still probably on the fence.

4.Do not escalate to personal attacks. You will not be taken seriously if you stoop to that level. I saw quite a few attacks on Melissa that went above and beyond over the line yesterday. No, Supergirl would not punch Melissa. Supergirl would go hug her gay sister and the bridal carry Lena from a falling building. And, no matter how bad Melissa made you feel, she did not attack your personal history nor did she threaten you with violence. Make your voices powerful and meaningful, not loud and vitriolic.

5. Support shows that do things right. Every show has something problematic about it but there are some that do far better than others. Shonda Rhimes knocks diversity out of the park constantly. Orphan Black has shown massive support toward the LGBTQ community for years.

6. Be the change you want to see in the world and yada, yada, yada. I know it’s corny but if you turned the passion you have for fandom into something you have the ability to create then YOU set the tone for the future. Write, act, produce, direct, and draw those beautiful queer characters you always wanted to see and share them with people who will appreciate them. Yes, we need to fight for diverse representation but we also need to spend some of that energy on creating it for ourselves because we obviously cannot trust the powers that be to do so and do so right.

 Fight for who you are and what you want with dignity and, hopefully one day, some cis, white dude will think twice before trying to rain on your big, beautiful gay parade.
