I'm sorry but as someone who was involved at the same age of the protagonists in more of less the same things they were involved in i cant take tokyo rvngrs seriously
#it presents kid gangs as this super cool thing with an honor code and... it simply isn't#looking back on these years i realize that while we thought we were cool and belonged in something#we were just cringy kids in an extremely shitty place that did things and threatened others#to feel like we belonged somewhere#but tokreven never... dwells on this?#it presents the reality of child gangs very uncritically#and never seriously shows how futile all the feuds and beatings are#i mean there are glimpses of that when someone leaves their skin behind during one of the gang wars#but most of it is overridden by 'look how cool mi/key and drak/ken are!!!!!'#and like yeah the author was a bosozoku in his youth yeah there is difference between italian child gangs and japanese child gangs#and it's supposed to be a shonen#but it all leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
