WIP fic rec list
So I have a shit ton of important things to do so I was like, so what better time to make a WIP rec list of fics that are currently (hopefully) updating.
I know wips get a bad rap but I personally enjoy feeling like I’m in 1830s paris waiting for the next chapter of illusions perdues to drop. Also these authors are giving us sweet sweet entertainment and they deserve the hype. All stories deserve love no matter their completion status.
In no particular order:
A Brief History of Sex by Letzi
Never let it be said that Castiel Novak is not a passionate man. He doesn’t seem like he is at first glance, he’s willing to admit that. But what he does in life, everything that he does, in fact, in life, has been in the pursuit of passion.
He’s not sure how it landed him night after night sitting inside a cramped closet in a brothel’s bedroom, watching a prostitute get fucked from behind by one of her clients through a peephole, but that’s where he finds himself these days.
He has to make do with what he has.
--
ABO AU based on the TV Show Masters of Sex and the life and work of Virginia Johnson and William Masters, the pioneers of sex therapy.
A Priori by K_K_TiBal, whelvenwings
Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak are headed to Hogwarts.
Castiel, as a member of the old Novak wizarding family, is fully expected to be sorted into Ravenclaw, like all of his ancestors before him. Dean, as a Muggle-born, has no idea what the Houses even are. With a surprise sorting and classes starting soon afterwards, they're both pitched headfirst into the unknown - and they find themselves in competition with each other almost at once, both of them needing to prove themselves to the people they left at home, and the people with them at Hogwarts.
Over the course of their seven years at Hogwarts, Dean and Cas learn what it means to prove yourself, what it takes to discover who you are, what it feels like to fall in love, and what it is they'll fight for - what matters most of all.
And Death Shall Have No Dominion by ForeverShippingJohnlock
Castiel Novak is a zombie. Or rather, a "partially deceased syndrome sufferer." Treated and on medication, Castiel is deemed fit to return to living society. Whether society is ready to accept him or not is another matter entirely.
Dean Winchester is an active member of the Human Volunteer Force, a group determined to eliminate the undead. With his father as the leader of the HVF, Dean has spent years learning that PDS sufferers are scum, treated or not, and Dean wants nothing more than to make his dad proud.
Against all odds, the two boys form an unlikely friendship that makes Dean question everything he knows and believes, while Castiel thinks that maybe his second life isn't such a curse after all.
A story of love and loss, life and death, and everything in between.
Beyond Our Waking Eyes by abbythebollix
Dean Winchester is troubled, Sam Winchester is growing up and Castiel Milton is too fucking hot for his own good.
Cupid's Fiery Shaft by ChasingRabbits
When Gabriel Milton is forced into working on the school's annual Shakespeare play, he finds himself drawn to one person in particular--a techie named Sam Winchester.
While waiting on numerous universities to dictate the next major step in his life, Sam has been blowing off steam with his friend, lab partner, and (unknowingly) Gabriel's stepbrother, Castiel Novak.
Castiel Novak: a swimmer and one of the school's resident oddballs, who finds himself in a quandary upon meeting Sam's older brother, Dean.
Dean Winchester: gruff-voiced automechanic by day and culinary genius/MegaNerd by night, who might not be as heterosexual as he lets everybody believe.
If it sounds complicated, that's only because it is.
Now That's Comedy by CaptainMercy42
Comedy. It's what Winchester's did. Winchester's, and about a million other dumb fucks with an iPhone and 140 character witticisms about their first world problems. It was not supposed to bug him when no-talent "wordsmiths" got highlighted in a bit on Ellen or Bob and Tom. But it did.
His dad, well he was great at it. It was dark comedy. It came from a dark place; the loss of a wife and the life of a morally bankrupt single dad, almost innocent in how thoroughly unprepared he was for fatherhood. Substance abuse in itself provided jokes for days. The material actually outlasted his dear old dad. This surprised no one. What was surprising was Sam's decision to ditch college and do his own act, despite his lingering bitterness.
The first night Dean saw Sam perform was also the first night Dean saw Castiel perform.
Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by linoresearch
The year is 1722 and across the oceans merchant ships are hounded by pirates. Killing and stealing their way to infamy, the Winchesters plague the trade-routes to the New World, leaving a trail of death and devastation across the Spanish Main. They are villains, and every ship that sails under the colours of the Royal Navy has been tasked with bringing them to justice; sentenced to hang by the neck until dead.
When the lookout of the navy frigate, the Lady Mary, calls ship-ahoy from the crow’s nest, first-mate Lieutenant Castiel Novak has no idea how his life is about to change. In a swash-buckling adventure across the high-seas, Castiel faces sea-monsters, ghost-ships, and much more, in the race to secure a valuable and dangerous prize. Thrown in among the pirates aboard the Black Impala, he also learns that Captain Dean Winchester can be hard to resist.
Number 1 Crush by Duckyboos
Dean, Benny, Charlie, Garth, and Cas are old college buddies. In their thirties now, they meet up once a year to shed their adult responsibilities for a week. This year it's Garth's turn to choose where they go and he's still as obsessed with horror and weird shit as he was back in college. He ends up picking a supposedly deserted hotel in the friggin' mountains. The place is creepy as hell and as night falls, two things become increasingly apparent. One: the place isn’t as deserted as they first thought, and two: Dean’s college stalker is back from the dead.
Dial 'M' For Monster by Duckyboos
By day, Dean Winchester bakes cupcakes. He owns his own bakery (Stairway to Leaven) and people come from all over state to try his delicious vegan red velvet. By night, he’s a fighter of supernatural evil.
Castiel Novak owns the small town's only motel (The Resting Place). He has a problem; he thinks rooms 6 & 11 are haunted. It’s not like he can just look up a local ghost hunter in the phone book though, now is it?
Oh, he can? Sweet.

With Interest by everandanon
In which sought-after bad boy Castiel Novak agrees to make awkward, nerdy sophomore Dean Winchester fall in love with him for a bet, and quickly finds himself in over his head — but by the time he realizes his mistake, it’s too little, too late . . .
Fast-forward 11 years, and as guilty as Cas still feels, he has bigger problems to deal with. Grieving his twin brother and struggling to provide the care his niece deserves, Cas finally sucks it up and moves back home in an effort to hold things together.
Of course, it's only a matter of time before he runs into Dean - Dean, who's all grown up and even more beautiful than Cas always suspected he'd be. Dean, who says he wants to be friends, and is clearly much better at a game Cas hasn't played since he broke Dean's heart.
Dean, who might not be the forgive-and-forget type, after all . . .
Quarantension by everandanon
In which Dean and Cas weather quarantine together like any Good Friends would — by developing outstanding skills in self-deception and providing all the casual affection and strictly platonic* orgasms the other could possibly need to make it through.** *Really not platonic **Spoiler: They need a lot.
Fortress by imogenbynight
Five years ago, a malignant mass removed from John Winchester's temporal lobe left behind a quietly ticking bomb that nobody noticed until it decimated everything. Five years ago, John dragged Dean away from everything he'd ever known, hellbent on rescuing him from an imagined threat that felt more real to him than the blood on his hands. Five years ago, Castiel let Dean's hand slip through his fingers as he rescued Sam from what he'd thought was a more immediate threat.
For five years, Castiel has wondered if there was some way he could have saved Dean, too.
Now, with a phone call that he'd all but given up hoping for, Castiel has a chance to try again.
It's Kind of a Funny Story by deathsteel
After an aborted suicide attempt lands Castiel Shurley in the hospital, he meets Dean Winchester, a charming damaged young man who is much more than first meets the eye. Not being able to deal with the stress of growing up may have gotten him here and being hopelessly in love with his best friend's girlfriend probably didn't help, but Castiel soon learns that sometimes it takes going a little crazy to find the path you were always meant to be on.
Loosely based on the movie/book by Ned Vizzini 'It's Kind of a Funny Story'.
Just A Schoolboy Crush by Zombiecat
Castiel has a cliche crush on the highschool football all-star, Michael Ashton. Even though he's fully aware he's doomed to longing looks and pining in silence, it wouldn't be so bad if his best friend, Charlie, hadn't told Dean. Dean Winchester never seemed to miss a chance to get under his skin but for some reason he starts acting odd when he hears about Castiel's big secret.
God, Make Small by komodobits
The last plane into McMurdo before the six-month winter brings a new face, an astronomer on transfer from one of the inland observatories. Truthfully, Dean doesn't know shit about neutrino particles; he's just the guy who gets paid to move the equipment from A to B and tries to keep it from getting broken and/or frozen solid. Castiel Novak's awkward, endearing smile is an additional bonus. However, the relentless blue night is brewing coldly for a storm, and it's starting to look like Dean and Castiel might be the only ones left out on the ice.\
Legacies by vanishingact
Castiel Milton's uneventful life as a Massachusetts lawyer gets a little strange in the fall of 1887 when he is assigned to handle the late Henry Winchester's estate and his client's distractingly handsome grandson arrives to take up residence in the old manor house. As an unlikely friendship (with a side of pining) develops, the house slowly coughs up its secrets and reveals a whole world of trouble that Dean never knew his grandfather kept hidden.
The Game of God by seperis
You can't win a war for humanity by sacrificing all of your own. Part 4 of Down to Agincourt
Sequins and Spirals by euphemology
Dean Winchester is a world-renowned figure skater who hails from the “good old U.S. of A.” He is well on his way to the 2014 Winter Olympics, but there’s one small problem: so is his arch-rival, Polish skater Castiel Novak. Competition is definitely not going to be easy, but it gets even harder when the two men get assigned to the same room in the Olympic Village.
Show Me How To Love by universalromance
A new family of kids at Lawrence High School brings a new perspective to Dean's life, especially when he becomes inexplicably drawn to the youngest of the siblings, a severely autistic boy who has never spoken or touched anybody in his entire life. Rating will possibly go up later. Possibly upsetting psychological subject matter.
The Process by Soupernabturel
“Dean, hands to yourself please.”
The man in question straightens up in his chair, turns his flirty smile from the man two seats from him and onto officer Novak. “Sorry, Cas.”
“Cas?” Hannah asks.
“We get some regulars. They come to know a few of the officers, the patrol officers, especially.” Novak explains, the look on his face, almost slightly bored, slips a little. “As you know, I’m usually the one monitoring the Strip.”
Police!Officer Cas is being filmed at work (A-la: Jail Las Vegas) for a reality TV show. Meanwhile Dean is a sex worker, not only familiar with the Strip’s booking process, but with a certain blue-eyed officer.
Start With a Name by cumberbellins, frickenapplepie (cumberbellins)
Waking up in a stranger's living room with a blue eyed man staring down at you isn't the most pleasant experience ever. Dean Winchester can tell you that. Another thing Dean Winchester can tell you is that whenever you have to break into your brother's apartment, you should make sure that you got the right window.
starving in your gravity by alullabytoleaveby
Dean has enough on his plate. Really.
There's his job as a paramedic for the local hospital and, while he loves it, loves getting to help people, the hours are long and the pay leaves much to be desired. There's his definitely-not-a-relationship with Castiel, the hot ER doctor, where's he's completely out of his depth emotionally. And then there's his brother, who's just dropped out of law school and has no idea what he's going to do now.
So what he definitely does not need is his alcoholic deadbeat dad stumbling back into his life.
Make Damn Sure by SurlyCat
Dean Winchester is not thrilled about taking an office job at one the most powerful media corporations in the country. His work has always been hands on, but when Charlie tells him about the job opening and its comfortable salary, the temptation is just too great to turn down. And really, it wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the blue-eyed man that also works there.
Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester have crossed paths far too often over the last 12 years, with an unsavory outcome nearly every time. This time though, walking away is just not an option as they're forced to collaborate on a project and learn to navigate each other like civilized human beings. For Dean and Cas though, nothing ever goes quite according to plan.
...In Bed by SurlyCat
Dean Winchester and Castiel Milton met on a rainy summer day over a broken down car. Even though Castiel is nosy and seems to have no filter, Dean still finds himself drawn to the man. Over time they become friends, and over time, Dean falls for Cas, certain that Cas is uninterested. What Dean doesn't know is that his friend hasn't always been quite so tame, and Cas is careful to keep it that way. Who would've thought that a fortune cookie and a childish game would be responsible for bringing out the truth?
Tag, You're It! by Kitmistry
Five months after the case that almost claimed their lives, what started as blowing off some steam during a high-pressure situation and continued as a mutually-beneficial arrangement is getting out of Special Agent Castiel Novak’s control. Falling in love with his partner is doomed to end in disaster, especially when said partner is Special Agent Dean Winchester—cocky, infuriating, and the biggest playboy Castiel has ever met.
Still on medical leave, Dean is bored out of his mind, and worst of all - once Castiel gets sucked into the investigation of a new case - without enough distractions from his inner demons. When he stumbles upon a small, seemingly risk-free case, Dean jumps at the chance to get involved, but the lies he has to tell could be catastrophic for the already shaky foundations of his relationship with Castiel.
With a new threat trying to take over the underworld of DC, Castiel and Dean have to find a way to work past their problems or risk losing each other forever.
Part 2 of The H Files
The Supernatural Edification of Dean Winchester by OverlordoftheBees
Based on TV Series “Afterlife”. Professor Castiel Novak (MA Berkeley, PhD Harvard) is an academic who has staked his credibility upon his ability to decompress and deconstruct the mythology surrounding mediums, clairvoyants and all things "new age spiritualist". That is, until a routine trip with a graduate class brings him into contact with medium Dean Winchester: uniquely gifted, supremely abrasive and desperate for a way out. When Dean touches on the tragedy marring Castiel’s past, his neatly constructed worldview is decimated. There is only a veil between life and death, as both well know. And as Castiel finds himself increasingly drawn to Dean, the fragility of that barrier is strained to its limit.
These Are the Nights by vintagenoise
After a sudden tragedy, Castiel Milton and Dean Winchester reflect back on their youth in the beachside town of Sileas, Oregon, and all the lessons they learned on the path that led them to each other. In the Winter of 2008, Castiel visits his boyfriend, Dean, for Christmas. Despite all the big issues he and Dean have dealt with in the past, they've never had the chance to sort through the little things. Castiel is sure that their plans, from embarking on a road trip together, to spending time with the Winchesters, can only be good for their relationship. There's just one little problem that needs to finally be confronted: sex, and Castiel's difficulty with it.In the Summer of 2009, Dean and Sam visit their estranged father and his new family, who reluctantly allow Castiel to visit through Independence Day. All Dean wants is for his family and his boyfriend to get along, but between John's struggle to accept his son's sexuality, and his wife Kate's strange attitude towards Castiel, he's not sure he'll be able to make it work. Another Writers’ Meme
I saw another blog do this last week and decided it looked like fun. And I love talking about myself.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
I made this name so long ago. Like 10+ years. I made it in Middle School to a reference about Zelda (the character Saria) and it became a joke with a friend of mine (Saria’s Princy) and it stuck. I don’t know why.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/favourites, follows/subscriptions, visitor hits, kudos)
Nightmare in Red has to most reviews
Code Seventy-Seven has the most views
But I believe Within the Messages and Cold Case are a long standing favorite.
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
It’s Itachi. And it’s because I like Itachi and Surfacage ha
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yes! That would be @la-moonlight-lily @zutaras-where-its-at @nips-out-for-itachi @crimsonriley @heymessyjessie
On FF, there’s Key, parsimonia, WhiskeyBlair (so many names I recognize in the reviews)
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Everything written by Cynchick.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
Honestly I am so lazy with reading fic. I usually forget unless it comes across my dash.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Modern!
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
On fanfiction, I’m on the favorites of 1124 and the alert of 951. Quite the number going! Thanks for the love!
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are 😨 of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Dirty smut? ha
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Writing complex plots without a whole bunch of plot holes.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
ItaSaku is pretty popular I feel like. And MadaSaku is now becoming popular?? (at least in my circle). Does TobiSaku count as a rarepair? Cause that’s a new fav!
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Twenty-four. I deleted a lot of them when I disappeared for 4 years.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
Don’t even ask....I have about two dozen half-written ideas on Google Docs alone. I have no idea about Word. Has to be in the 100s. Many of which I will not write.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
If it’s something I think I’ll come back to I write it down. If it’s a passing fantasy, I enjoy and let it go.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
@beyondthemoor oh my darling. We’ve done a couple: Round Robin - ItaSakuShisui (Rated M) Gas Station - KisaIno (Fluff Friday)
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
I joined FF in 2007. I have no idea about AO3. I think I googled a rarepair I came across the glory that is AO3
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
When I first started, no. But so many authors have left the fandom that I sometimes feel like I’m one of the only ones still writing ItaSaku ha.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Whores. Just kidding! Sorta.
Nah, I mostly call my reviewers wonderful people, cause for the most part, they are.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I get inspired more by ideas. Silverfootsteps wrote a wonderful story called Eastern Suns that I am still raving about. That one inspired me. I do like to bounce ideas off a few other tumblrs, but my inspiration usually comes from every day things: grocery shopping, working out, out at dinner, etc.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Read, read, read. The best way to learn how to write is to read other’s writers’ work like a writer. Try to see what you like about their writing style, what you don’t like. Then incorporate that into your own.
When I don’t know how to write something so it’s smooth and easy to follow (ie fight scenes, kissing, smut, etc) I read a handful of other people’s writing to see what worked for them and perhaps didn’t work. Then apply that towards my own work.
Plus it gives you time to step away from your own writing if you feel stuck.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Both. It usually starts out with writing as I go. But then I get ideas of scenes I would like to add later so I throw them into a document so I can go back and reference.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
One I remember was someone commenting on a MadaSaku story saying they “preferred NaruSaku”. Like okay?? Why are you here? Hahah.
I’ve also gotten a visit from g.o.d., which I found more funny than offensive. Usually I just ignore hate though. I’ve been writing long enough that I know when my work is good or not. Just shrug it off.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
FLUFF. I don’t know why. I hate cliches in writing. It makes me gag. So trying to write fluff that isn’t like that is difficult all the time sometimes.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
See my previous post for this answer ha.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
I usually try not to because then I get excited to just move on. But usually I plan on taking a break after completing a long story but before I even finish, I get another multi-chap fic idea and I’m like nooooo - let’s do it!
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
I used to just write as I felt like doing it, but then I would sometimes go two weeks without writing. So recently, I started a goal of writing at least one sentence a day (if not more). I even have an alarm set at 6pm every day, asking if I’ve written yet.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Hell yes. Omg, my first fics are horrible. Physically painful to write, dear lord.
28. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
Ink was a lot of fun, I’m Sorry for What I said... was not a favorite but it is growing on me now. Where it Happened because I feel like there are soooo few medical AUs.
29. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
Within the Messages/Cold Case. Neither one is very accurate. They make me cringe. The only reason they’re still up is because so many people seem to enjoy them.
30. Where do you 👀 yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Still trash.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Imagining story ideas.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Writing.
33. Why do you write?
Because even after all the writing, rewriting, editing, cringing and rewriting, it’s still amazing to be able to share what you’ve created. And to hear how people enjoyed what you made feels good. Plus there is a deep sense of accomplishment when you finally write that final word: end
Tagging: @crimsonriley @la-moonlight-lily @littlebirdrobin and anyone else who wants to!!!

I got tagged by @superhappybubbleslove Thanks for the tag!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
Uh. If I’m being honest I have an old FF.net account I never posted on and only created so I could comment and follow fics, too chicken to post anything, from like 5 years ago with the name, and it was all i could think of when I made my tumblr. I’m not incredibly inventive with screen names. I don’t even remember what got me to use that name on FF because it was so long ago and I was too chicken to post!
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/favorites, follows/subscriptions, visitor hits, kudos)
I only have 3 Fics out right now, so of the 3, it would be Coincidences Lead to Consequences, which was my first fic posted, the first fic I have written in over 4 years and I was so shocked by the overwhelming support I got from the fandom!!
SO appreciative for the feedback and understanding, as now, I am even scared to look at it because I am sure it is scary bad.
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I actually never put one up ? I guess I could do that...
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Two regular, supportive commenters who make me feel like utter MUSH and give me the motivation to try harder, (you guys are amazing) Joanna and Sarah
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I read probably 3-5 of them over and over.
Talk Too Much by @xaphrin
All I Ask of You and As the World Falls Down by Khirsah on AO3 , they are the same story told by the perspective of the two main characters, same events but totally different outlook- Dragon Age fandom. Great read.
All of The Wild Florida Bay,- but mostly Merry and Bright (Because I giggle and roll around in joy) by @sabraeal
And Pas de Deux -because it is written so viscerally and beautifully that my whole being wants to weep with a myriad of emotions that overwhelm me, by @superhappybubbleslove
There’s more but these are the MOST frequent ones
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
2 Subscriptions... I don’t relaly understand the the bookmark thing. I should use that stuff more.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Uh. I’ve only really posted the 3 fics but i write Magical AU that I don’t post.. I have one right now that I am considering posting. When I’m done fiddling.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
2 Subscribers and 13 bookmarks HOW NICE !!! I did not know this.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are 😨 of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
There’s a few fandoms I wanted to contribute to, but they’re so large and I’ve seen people be judgey and I am scared to post in those because I am still getting into the swing of doing this.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Everything. I know I am coming from a very rudimentary level of skill where I am fueled by passion and not so much by ability. I would love SPECIFICALLY to get better at nailing tension in scenes a bit more fully, I kinda feel like those fall flat sometimes for me.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Ah. It’s noncannon but definitely not a rarepair, and the stuff I’ve written but not posted have also been for cannon or somewhat popular noncannon ships.
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
3 Haha
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
GOD. 7 ? 8? Some are scraps not finished others I hate and want to redo or as stated before I am scared to post.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I take notes sometimes, I guess.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Nope but i think it would be very fun and it would be awesome to have someone giving me feedback before I post it!! I would love to , I think I could learn a lot and enjoy the experience!
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
Google.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
Nooooo no no no. Very new. Used to be just kinda creeping on other peoples stories, dolling out kudos but scared to comment.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Nope, it’s “Hey guys!” or “My dudes!” at the beginning and end of my apologies.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Several !! I saw how open and accepting the fandom was and I wanted to be part of that!
I don’t want to over tag but I have several above already mentioned.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Jeeze I am a beginner and I do it for fun myself. Maybe have fun and don’t stress yourself too much because it should be fun?
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I mostly get hit with inspiration on an outline but I miss large portions of plot so I add those as I go but I do have the biggest arcs planned.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Nothing bad, I don’t actually think anyone in this particular fandom would leave a bad comment? everyone is THE MOST KIND OMG
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Ah. Romantic tension that leaves that burn in your soul where you are just like OMG BUT WHY NO KISS ? I struggle cause I ALSO WANT KISS
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
One called “The Door Down the Hall” and one like.. short couple chapter thing called “Curiosity Killed the Cat” Hopefully this one won’t run away and become longer than intended like Magic In The Woods did ahah *cough*
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Sometimes inspiration sparks and I have to get the planning down before I forget but I AM TRYING not to juggle too many at once. So maybe 2 small fics at once is my limit.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No but I’ve been told I should so that’s the plan starting next week.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
I hope so !
28. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
I only have the 3... so. Idk, I think I like the premise of Magic in the woods best, maybe.
29. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
I trash the ones I hate before they get posted. And then intentionally forget them. So. Yeah.
30. Where do you 👀 yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I do this for fun so I Just want to improve and continue to feel stress relief from it? 2017 was rough for me, I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old, and my dad got SO sick. So the writing was a nice personal escape when I have a little time to myself at night.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Uh. Planning?
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Not trashing everything in editing because I end up thinking it is bad.
33. Why do you write?
Stress relief ! It has been great to have something to do with myself, that’s just for me and retains my sense of identity among the other hats I wear of Mother, Wife, and Employee.

Writer Asks
Writer Asks
tagged by @wolf08 :) thank you so much for the tag and sorry for being so late, i literally waited until i came home from work. Warning: this is LONG.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
my tumblr url is based on the chronically ill made up term painsomnia. i have always had sleep issues but they got worse when i became ill due to being woken up constantly with pain. my username on FF is ChronicallyChill which is based on, yet again, me being chronically ill.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/favourites, follows/subscriptions, visitor hits, kudos)
The Planning Of A Matriarch wins, hands down. I was so insecure and nervous about sharing anything I wrote but it was so well received! But it’s comedy and so much fluff and who doesn’t appreciate a little fluff? I have lost a lot of love for it because it was stolen and the whole event made me feel like shit. I think I owe a lot of it’s popularity to @mycherryqueen because she rec’d it on her blog. I plan on updating by the anniversary of this fic. But I may put it on hiatus indefinitely after that.
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I actually don’t have one! I keep thinking I’m going to sit down and draw one or wait until I have the money to commission one of my favorite artists for something. I don’t create anymore but maybe one day I’ll dip back into it so I can finally have a profile icon.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
OMG YES. I get sooo excited when I see familiar guest names or usernames. I get so gooey inside and melt when Spanish speakers leave reviews (I can read Spanish guys, feel free to review in Spanish if that makes you more comfortable!) because they wanna share their love even if they can’t write in English well. I have an absolute fave and I shouldn’t but I can’t help it. Monika aka @mcornilliac leaves the BEST reviews and she reviews every chapter.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Oh tons. Tons, Tons, Tons! Here’s a few:
The Colors of Midnight by SouthSideStory is possibly my favorite thing they’ve written. I love so many of their SS fics but that’s the one I go back to the most. (also Providence, I love me a soulmate au)
Carrying On by Kiwako
Daimyo’s Daughter by Sakura’s Unicorn (but literally everything of theirs is re-read all of the time)
Spar by D.C. Filbert (warning: major smut)
Life After Detainment by merinxD
You Could See It Change by lavendersakurasasuke (it’s a Gothic Victoria AU but with ninjas!)
Chained by Kirikizu
xxlovendreamsxx has these LOTR AUs....fucking amazing. unfortunately I seem to have lost the link to them
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
lol...i’m just gonna say A LOT. I lost some of them when I didn’t have a FF account and if I didn’t I would have way more but trust me... A LOT.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
NON-MASS IS WHERE IT’S AT~ give me more SS non-mass and I will be the happiest person in the world.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
if I’m looking at it right....only 373 (me as an author not the individual works). and I love every single one of them.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are 😨 of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Sex scenes. I write it but I always feel nervous about them.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I wish I was more comfortable writing action. Also I do so much dialogue...I feel like it’s too much. I wish I was better at replying to comments (I try! like if someone writes me a hefty comment I’m likely to respond if I’m able to). Updating. If I could I would write and update every day.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I write for the most popular ship in the Naruto fandom. But I also write ShiItaIzu and as a friend of mine has said before I’m not on an island by myself, I am the island. Google ShiItaIzu and posts to my content is what pops up. my readers seem to like them though so that’s great.
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
5. Soon to be 8 if I ever get to publishing the other three. (not including prompt drafts)
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
*maniacal laughter ensues* i have so many....fanfic and original work....some of them are prompts...I’m a mess
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
mostly in my head but some things are written down. Most of those are rough drafts already.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No. I’ve made fanfics based off headcanons I practically threw at friends and they told me how they felt about them. But never. I don’t think I ever will, at least not for SS.
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
uh...i have no fucking clue. August of 2016 was when I started loving Naruto again and jumped into consuming all of the SS content I could find. I just googled and read like...everything.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
LOL....fuck no. I actually think I’m pretty insignificant in the Naruto fandom. But that’s okay.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
no. maybe I should.... how about Loves? I’ll try it out in my next author’s note.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I don’t really have an author that inspired me. But @bkceallaigh is the reason anyone reads my stuff. she encouraged me to write and then finally publish a fanfic. And here we are.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write. Write what you feel. Write what you love. Write what makes you happy. Don’t worry about pleasing people, someone is always going to hate. Just write something you would want to read.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
LMAO. no. the closest I actually get to planning is something like “this is my goal. let’s get to it somehow.” i think I've only planned one story and hopefully I’ll post that prompt soon (it’s the Shape of Water AU).
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Duh! I ranted and bitched to my friends. Some of them were sooooo bad. Like when I say bad it’s like they never even read the story or want to fore their interpretation on people. and then some anti-SS found me and decided to trash SS. like thanks...why the fuck are you here? so I will complain but I don’t care to confront them. Just...don’t like then don’t read.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Smut and action. Mainly ‘cause I want people to see the action in their head when I write but it doesn’t come out right... smut is bad sometimes ‘cause I get a little mechanical and describe the process and forget feeling sometime.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Currently I’m mulling over Can I Be Yours? and Kingdom For Two and A Gift From The Universe. I’m really into A Gift From The Universe because it’s non-mass and I’m going to put a lot of focus on InoSai and ShiItaIzu, way more than I’ve done before.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
lol....I have my WIPs going on at the same time....I’m nowhere near finished.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
nope. Just write when I can. And wish that I was writing when I wasn’t.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
I want to say yes.
28. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
honestly....Kingdom For Two is my fic baby.
29. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
The Planning Of A Matriarch actually. Like I could have done so much better. It’s still my baby but it’s the one that embarrasses me the most.
30. Where do you 👀 yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
hopefully with a finished original work lol
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
The easiest? I don’t know...I can’t really think about it right now...I guess for me, creating dialogue is the easiest thing....I’m really tired right now and may come back to edit this answer lol
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Telling myself to love what I write despite not getting the response that I want. There are people who love what I write and I move them with my writing. And I should appreciate what I get.
33. Why do you write?
It’s...so wonderful to see a world that’s trapped in my head come to life in front of me.
I will tag: @kuriquinn @roraewrites @xxxsasusakuxxx @randomwhorcrux @bkceallaigh and anyone that wants to do this

I got tagged by @happyisahabit, a space fool, a pumpernickel, a baker who has yet to give me baked goods, please give me a cupcake
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
because anabell is love and anabell is life
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/favorites, follows/subscriptions, visitor hits, kudos)
uh... good question
seems like Fleeting has the most reviews and faves with a STAGGERING 26 reviews HAHAHAH
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
@xwynn sheds a tear every time but i goddamn love it
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yeah dude @fluffypuppy77 and @quantamtheory1 for sure, something about seeing them warms my heart tbh. and then those i can’t find on tumblr but are active on ffnet are “Whispered Winters” and “8YearsOfMaka”
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
i’ll be real, i haven’t read much fanfiction lately, but if you force me to put a name on something then i’d say any of @happyisahabit‘s works
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
they’re pretty much outdated and irrelevant now
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
mythology, fantasy, supernatural, fae, witchy, magical; because i always return to my roots
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
listen, im thankful the maker of this ask game put where you can find it, but i can’t be arsed to check xD
5 mins later: i found it, but look im so pleased Total views to Profile Page : 1,881 that’s a beautiful number. a really good number. a mirrored, symmetrical number. i like that shit. NO ONE ELSE VIEW MY PROFILE FROM NOW ON. IF THAT NUMBER CHANGES I’LL CRY.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I’ve always wanted to write obiyuki or like z.//e-ki or rusa the og ship id die for, but, one is too old shit, two im not quite there with character understanding and world competence yet but soon i’ll show up, and three the fandom is crazy and i wouldn’t touch it with a 10 meter pole. guess which.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
to echo liz, FINISHING MY WIPS???? and also writing cute smooches would be cool tho, but im too busy writing angst for that
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
i feel attacked by question eleven and i don’t like it’s tone.
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
69 stories on ffnet :) hehehehehehehehehe 69. + 1 cuz i posted one more a couple of days ago. i think there’s a disproportionate amount of unfinished fics to finished fics there too. it’s like schrodinger's cat at this point to my poor subcribers: am i gunna post a new fic or update an old one? if i don’t post you’ll never find out
@rebornfromash look hehehe 69
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
don’t.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
i have sticky notes, note cards, notebooks, dump docs on both google drive and word doc and notes on the iphone, slipped pieces of papers jammed into books, and friends who i just burst in and go “hi i have an idea and im going to use the ctrl f function to document my shit”
if i keep it solely in my head then it becomes lost and no longer a concept
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
yes i have :) good stories, better partners
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
i think my very first time i ever went on the site was caused by @roni-westbrook, a dramione fic called harmony
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
nah
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Thirsty Monsters From The Loch. Sip Sip Bish.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
one day i took at look at myself, and i went, “are you ready to truly become fandom trash?” and an answer came almost immediately, “hell yeah”
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write. For. Your. Self.
i can’t say that enough because if you decide to let your audience dictate what you write and how well you write and how you feel about your writing due to the lack of reception or lots, you’re just entering a world of hurt. one day you may feel great about your writing because you got over a hundred notes, only to realize that you get at most about 30 for a popular ship and good idea sometimes and can’t figure out why. one day you may feel fabulous about your fic you worked hard on and love what youve done with it, only to see no one else cared. i’ve seen so many friends in pain from this, and i know that pity reblogs and reviews from me are only going to solve a problem in the moment and not in the long run.
you gotta be your own number one fan, realize who youre writing for and why youre writing. and alternatively if you write something for just a remote group of friends or even just one person as a gift, then please realize that their response and reaction will mean more to you than hundreds of others who simply stumbled upon it. ok?
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
i plot the skeleton most of the time, but then let the writing dictate where it’s going to go next. yeah you heard it here folks, my plot writes itself, because that’s how you get a realistic and non forced narrative
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
wow have y’all ever read that shit fic from 2015 that people took way too seriously? but that’s really it, im truly lucky
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
A C T I O N
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
this is a call out post and i don’t like this.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
number twenty four and number twenty five are conspiring against me and i feel attacked
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Absolutely not because I either do 8K in a night or 10 words in a month and there’s zero ground inbetween
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
both yes and no because i’m extremely lucky to have been able to have a great running start in 2015, but i think i plateaued as an author in terms of quality
28. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
Fleeting is still by far my favorite story because not only is @captainpomelo a great person to work with but also i still think about it to this day, my goal for 2018 is to finish it
29. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
shit.fic.of.2015.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
like, better, hopefully
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
lyrical writing esp when it’s 3 am and im listening to “i will survive” on repeat
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
not writing passive voice
33. Why do you write?
it looked fun, and boy was i wrong. it’s suffering.
Lemme get those tags in shout out to everyone previously tagged plus @lucyrne @sabraeal @ilarual @sahdah @fullmetalgrigori

About Me As A Writer
Tagged by @shitabukenjirou ~ <3
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? Foxyena and FoxyenaArts is my name for all platforms. It makes me easy for commissioners to find, and dates back to my years doing furry art commissions, which is also where the name originates.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).
Well, the most hits & kudos is Skipping Practice with nearly 17k hits and ~630 kudos, but Courtship of the Owl has the most subscriptions and bookmarks.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
The same as the one I use here. I tend to only use one icon for all sites at once, and I love Matsukawa + glasses and smoking aesthetic so~
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I do! I don’t know most of their tumblr usernames, but there certainly are a few lovely people I am always excited to see comments from.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Honestly, there’s a few. I reread fics a lot, but my favorite that I find myself always coming back to is Lust and Lies by DeathBelle aka @worthlesspride.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I currently have 253 bookmarks and 223 subscriptions.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I don’t have a particular AU. I have ~50 fics in progress and aside from those in a series, they vary from Transhumanism/Cyborg AU to cute lil’ Coffee Shop AU. I actually try really hard to have variety.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
348 Subscriptions and 525 Bookmarks
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I have a TenSemi fic titled Human Juice that is literally nothing but all of my kinks out in the open and I’m so sorry for anyone who chooses to read that whenever I release it. It has everything from Erotic Electrostimulation to Blood Play and more. So much more. If you wanna know more about it, feel free to ask I guess lol.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Fluff and just.. happy things. I thrive on painful/angsty/poetic forms of writing and I struggle with just letting them be happy for once.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Both! Right now my posted works are mostly popular ships for main ship, but I have dozens of fics in the works for rare pairs like MatsuKuro, GoshiShira, SemiSuga, OiYama, and more. Courtship of the Owl even has Komori/Konoha in it.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Only 9, but that is about to change real soon ‘cause Avery here has no self control and can’t write just one fic at once apparently.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
63 total. 7 of them are for YOI, and the rest are all Haikyuu!!
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I write down all of them. My process actually starts with coming up with a title and creating a premise and theme around the title of the fic.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Yessir! I have co-authored 2 works with @tettsuroo, though one is not complete yet.
16. How did you discover AO3?
I honestly don’t remember.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Absolutely not.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
nnnnoooo?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Several, but most notably was @worthlesspride, @tettsuroo, and @kaiyouchan.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Learn from other authors. Pay attention to what you like about their works and learn from your peers. Don’t be afraid to reach out, make friends, and create a network of support around you. Learn from others, but always be you.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I’ve done both. Courtship of the Owl has a 22 page outline detailing everything that happens in it, while Petals of Pining never had an outline at all. One-shots normally don’t get outlines either. Just lengthy, detailed multi-chapters that have complex plots and subtle details/foreshadowing.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes, I have. Someone who I had read and commented on their work supportively commented on one of mine; they disagreed with the ending I wrote and tried to “fix” it, telling me what should have happened and ending the comment saying something similar to “now all is right with your world”. I simply commented stating I had revoked any and all support/comments/bookmarks of their work and that I didn’t want to associate with someone who thought that was appropriate behavior.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
I struggle with scene transitions sometimes. How does one get from point A to point B...
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
You Can See My List of Current Projects Here But Courtship of the Owl and my Secret Santa ficlet + art is my primary focus atm. That list is roughly in priority order. Roughly.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
I mean... have you seen my Current Projects list?
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Mm not really. I try to at least work on something daily, though. The amount may vary depending on how strenuous my job was that day or if I had time to be on the computer or if I was writing on my phone.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Sometimes I wanna vomit when I read work that I wrote only a few months ago so I would assume so, yes.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Demons Wear Contacts. It’s not released yet, but it’s a Demon!Matsukawa MatsuHana fic. I’ve never had so much fun writing before. The fic is in Makki’s perspective, and will be my next multichapter fic after Courtship of the Owl is done.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
My early works, especially the YOI ones. I had never really written before and while I’ve still only been writing for about a year now, they make me cringe so hard. I’ve been thinking about orphaning them, honestly.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Probably doing the same thing I am now, maybe for a new fandom. I hope to do more zines though. I’ve quite enjoyed those.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
For me, it’s sensations. I love writing what people feel, the emotions, the sensations of touch, taste, see, etc. Or planning. I’m really good at plannin’ stuff.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Finding the time and energy to dedicate to doing it. Also writing fluff. I’m so bad at writing happy things, you guys.
33. Why do you write?
It’s something I enjoy, and it’s another way I can be part of a community, a network of people who enjoy what I do and I can build friendships with.

Thank you to @kaguneko, @tsukareta-levi and @zedsdead1001 for tagging me in this writers meme. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone else’s answers :) It’s fascinating to have an insight into how people feel about their writing.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
LostCauses because when it comes to Eruri I truly am a lost cause and NoRegrets because I have none. Also Levi :}
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Cardamom with 188 bookmarks, 115 subscriptions, 9055 hits and 882 kudos.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
The Western Squadron Leaving Falmouth by Derek G M Gardner, because I used to write Age of Sail fic about one of the ships in the painting. And Wings of Freedom by RainNoir because damn will you look at that beautiful back.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I deeply appreciate each and every person who takes the time to read and comment.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Hell yes. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve read all your demons and desires and dark sides by Carthage. Irascible and Salt by revai-lution, Black Dog by Stereobone and The Laws of Survival by pasiphile are my other go-to fics.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I’m subscribed to 11 stories and I have 99 bookmarks. Oops. I really, really need to clear out my bookmarks :}
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Modern AUs. Frequently involving clubs and silver leggings. Alternatively involving domestic appliances used for unorthodox purposes.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
122 user subscriptions, 215 subscriptions, 1101 bookmarks.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Not afraid exactly. I wanted to write an Eruri Age of Sail AU for ages but I didn’t think anyone would be interested. Eventually I decided fuck it and started writing it anyway!
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I can’t write action. at. all. Hopeless at it. I wish I could.
It also takes me ages to reply to comments which makes me feel immensely guilty.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Eruri is a popular ship right? :}
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
99 posted to AO3. I have another 50 odd on LJ that I’ve been meaning to upload for years.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
More than 20.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I write snippets of dialogue as they come to me, hence the number above, but I usually keep plot ideas, such as they are, in my head
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Yes, a few times.
16. How did you discover AO3?
Someone gave me an account code for the platform just after it launched. AO3 opened in November 2009 and I posted my first fic a few weeks later. Have you any idea how old that makes me feel?!
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Nah, not really.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Nope.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Every fic author I read encourages me to write, because god dammit, all fic authors are amazing in their own way.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write whatever the hell you want and don’t give a damn about what anyone else thinks.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Usually I just make it up as I go along. I very rarely work out plots in advance. You can probably tell :}
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
There was a person who used to comment on my Age of Sail fic who was always pointing out what they saw as historical anachronisms. Unfortunately they were usually wrong so I would politely point them to the original sources. Yes, I am that pedantic.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
I find smut really hard to write if I’m not in the right mood. Other times I really enjoy writing it.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
HMS Maria, a self indulgent fic about Levi as a body piercer, that circus AU I nicked off @hedera-helixwriteseruri that I keep toying with, and one or two others.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Ha! No.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
I do write everyday, but it’s mostly boring work stuff. I wish I had the kind of lifestyle that allowed time for fic writing on a daily basis. That would be such a luxury.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
I hope so!
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Sheesh, I’m not sure I could pick just one. I’m very fond of Cardamom and Loosing It and I also have a real soft spot for Keep Yourself Warm.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Beautiful. I killed Levi and I’m still not over it.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I hope I’m still writing fic. I very much hope I’m still writing Eruri fic.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Editing. I really enjoy editing.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
First drafts. Bleh. Mine are barely legible.
33. Why do you write?
Because I love the characters and I like getting inside their heads. Because I love words and the flow of writing. Because it’s a turn on. Because it’s a great way to share a connection with people. Because @downfordanchou cooks eggs in the kettle.
Thanks again for tagging me! I’m tagging anyone who hasn’t already done this. I can recommend giving it a go, it’s a really interesting exercise :)

Ask a Writer
I got tagged by @rabbitkinder
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
Well my studio handle is Foolish Mortal - but someone’s been sitting on that username since dirt. So I went with fool-errant - like knight errant but stupider. The fool part is obvious - and errant means alternatively “straying from proper course or standards” and “traveling in search of adventure” - which I felt summed up thing pretty decent. My handle on FFnet and AO3 is NoCapes - cause I wanted to make sure thatif you looked up my website for art - you didn’t accidentally stumble on TF2 slash. That name comes from the fact I have a little Edna Mode figure sitting on my computer monitor that caught my eye at the time I was looking for a name.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/favorites, follows/subscriptions, visitor hits, kudos)
Erm - well I only have ze one main fic online these day. My long suffering TF2 fic Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. Though even compared to the long lost junk I wrote in high school - its still got the most feedback.
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I’m not sure I ever got an icon on those accounts. I just never got aroundto it.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I honestly love all commenters. I have a few regulars who became buds of mine that I love. Also anyone that ends up making something in reaction to my writing is special to me.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Not really. I’m a horrible person. I also have a mind that retains little details, so I am the sort that reads something once and can remember it clearly later.
I DO have a few genre/ tropes I like to revisit reading wise. One is Lavellen/Cullen from Dragon Age. Another one I binge hit recently is anything about Finn from Star Wars needing and receiving hugs and people (mainly Poe) supporting him. And Princess Leia shows up to remind people to take care of themselves and Storm Pilot snuggles ever after.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
Uh...I’m honestly not sure. I squirrel away bookmarks and forget about them later. I have a couple in progress stories I subscribe to.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I really don’t do AUs - unless you count the gag bit I wrote where Spy and FemSpy are the parents of Carmen Sandiego. I tend to feel people are the products of their settings and removing them from that takes a lot of their traits away. Though that’s my opinion and I’m never going to tell anyone they can’t or shouldn’t go write and enjoy their own thing.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Welp on AO3: Bookmarks:74 Subscriptions:77
Here on Tumbles: 268
on FFnet - I can not make heads or tales of that one. Though I seem to have a couple of folks in South Africa reading - which is cool.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
.....*Maniacal laughter* I deal with chronic depression and anxiety. So I have a very large list of things I WANT to do but don’t. A lot of it is due to the fear of judging - and a lot of “no one wants this - what is the point?”
I had an original concept involving airship pirates - colonialism - and the main lead was a trans pan sexual in a setting that didn’t have words or play book for hat sort of thing. The story wasn’t ABOUT the fact the lead was the way they were, it was just aside thing. But I scrapped it cause I figured no one wanted it - it was stranger and I didn’t want people coming out of the woodwork telling me I didn’t have a right to do that or that I wrote the lead wrong.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I have long ago accepted my inability to porn well. I’d love to be better with my updates. But as mentioned earlier I deal with depression - so my brain meats aren’t the most efficient at cranking out things in a timely manner. Also replyingto comments/ social media shit. I am awful at.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I guess Rarepairs...I suppose.
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Three/four - one large chapter monster and lots of little drabbles that sort of grew around it.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
*cough* Lots
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
...Depends on how long the story idea bugs me, how complicated the idea is and if I intend to do anything with it.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Not exactly. A bud of mine and me in high school triedto do that but gave up. Now a days I just co author smutty bits with someone else cause I am no good at those on my own.
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
I knew about FF.net before the great PornPurge. I am not even sure HOW I found them. Probably just wandering the net as a young impressionable nerd. I also used to deal with webrings if you want to guess how old I am.
AO3 I...think I heard about on tumblr, or I had a friend or two metion them tome when I started writing fic again seriously.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
No. I always end up baffled to find out people have read or remember anything I’d worked on.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Not really? What?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Not to my knowledge - I think there was a quote about art that I picked up via Ted Naifeh about how you have to get through 1000 bad drawings to get to the good ones. That tends to stick in my mind about writing or anything I’m trying my hand at.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
I don’t have much for writing - but creating things in general. When I started doing art in high school the forums I hung out on always had the reminder, “There will always be someone better than you. But you will always be better than someone else.” Write as things come to mind. You don’t have to write in sequential order - you can edit that later. Don’t worry if things come out rough and ugly in your first drafts, things can get polished later. Write what you want, not what you think others will want. Also to paraphrase Dr Suess - if you draw a monster with three heads, be sure to give it three toothbrushes. Keep details in mind when building a world/ scenario.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I have a rough skeleton or shape I start with - when I start writing it all out things start getting filled in - or changed from the original plan cause something better came up.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Occasionally I would get folks complaining about “the slow bits” where it’s just banter - or folks getting snotty about the lack of sex scenes, but generally nothing “bad” just antsy.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
SMUT - I’m a poor little ace robot. My brain doesn’t quite know what to do with smut scenes. Where do hands go? What do they do? People do what? Don’t they know what comes out of those places? EVERYONE NEEDS TO WASH THEIR HANDS. I don’t cut the scenes since I know it’s a thing people do- and it feels disingenuous to have violence in a story and then get all fiddly when sex shows up. So I have cucu help me out - and have lots of feedback from other folks as we muddle along.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Still working on Smoke as I can and trying to flesh out an original concept, which is sort of a post apocalyptic noir,
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
YEP
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Not DAILY - but I do try to make myself add 500 words to what I’m working on when I do sit down to write.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Thankfully
28. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
I dunno - I mean I don’t have much going on right now that’s eaten my time and attention as much as Smoke Gets in Your Eyes has.
29. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
Nothing that I’ve left out in public. I cleared out my old writing archives ages ago and I tend not to let myself look back.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I don’t actually know. I rarely consider myself a writer. I am an artist - I went to school for art and drawing. I just sort of accidentally picked writing back up.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Planning - Conceptualizing. The early stages when everything is still nebulous and nothing is forced into words.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Putting things into words. Also the whole “creating things to toss into the void” sensation.
33. Why do you write?
Because my brain sort of will keep daisy chaining ideas and building stories with or without my permission. So focusing on them - writing them and getting them out on paper for others to look at seems the only real solution. Also cause my friends got sick of my being like “so hypothetically - if blah and blah happened - you think such and such would shake out of that?”
I taaaag @fat-mabari @vkiera @prinxvariety
Cheers!

Author About Me
tagged by both @mystictrashheap and @foxyena, thanks :)
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
Quinn Locke is my halfling rogue from a D&D campaign I was in with some friends. When I first started publishing fanfic I didn’t want anyone in my real life to find it and only 4 people knew of the character but never remembered her last name so it worked.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).
It Was Always You - 237 comments, 4995 hits
Sincerely Yours - 389 kudos, 124 subscriptions, 73 bookmarks
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
A picture of Bokuto and Akaashi from the mange edited to look like they are conspiring together. I chose it cause I love Bokuaka and I seem to write them more than anyone else.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I have quite a few regulars and I very much look forward to their comments. I have one who leaves me paragraph long reviews and I honestly tear up a little every time.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Hehehehehe, you do not want to see the hit count for a few fics. I have about 3 or 4 that I always go back to for a quick read to make me smile.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
142 bookmarks and I am subscribed to 6 authors
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
It varies, though I seem to always end up falling into the University setting
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
50 user subscriptions (are you kidding me???) and 408 bookmarks. You mean to tell me 50 people get an email that I posted something???
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
There are some pairings I would love to write but worry no one will like, or even worse tell me that its the wrong ship and to ship this instead.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Building a proper world and managing to follow that worlds rules. I’d also like to finally figure out how to break up sentence structure and maybe stop using the term “felt like”
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Popular ships with a couple minor rare pairs thrown into the background
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
20
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
For my own well being I will not even look.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
both depending on if I feel I absolutely must write it immediately
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
yes and let’s not talk about it thank you very much
16. How did you discover AO3?
Deviant art had some fanfic attached to pictures and then I googled fanfiction for dragon age and lo and behold there it was
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
hardly
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
most people seem to call me quinn, i do not have a name for my readers en masse, i do have nicknames for the people i interact with the most
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
loquaciousquark and rannadylin were the first authors whose work had me hooked in the dragon age fandom. silvercistern is the author who ensured I was trapped in haikyuu forever, if only for the magic of bokuaka. To be honest I am inspired by anyone who wants to write and has a story to tell.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write for you first. If you want to see your two favorite characters meet in a coffee shop and bond over a love of the same book, the write it. If you want to write the au based on that obscure TV show from your childhood, do it. Write what makes you happy first.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Both honestly. I have outlines for long fics and then there are times I just pull a story out of nowhere and go... well here it is.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes, I deleted it and chose to ignore a message sent to me by the person who commented. They criticized my work, then asked to use whatever prompt I had gotten to write my story. The best part was there was no prompt. I came up with the idea on my own. Now, I usually just ignore rude comments and try not to let them bother me. I don’t get many.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
smut will be the death of me
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Sincerely Yours, Faded Trees (a tensemi fantasy au), Giving In (long fic planned for the bsd bb), Date Me...For Science! (fake dating au) and a host of other small projects
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
I am always plotting something even if I never end up writing it
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
I don’t even have a goal on the days I do write
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Good god I hope so!
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Flowers and Feathers, I wrote it in a day and I can’t help but smile when I see it gets kudos
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Tale of the Champion(s Heart), because I will never finish it, and it was my first fanfic ever so its full of mistakes and tired tropes. For Haikyuu it would be Six Minutes to Say Goodbye. It was my first Haikyuu fic and it was my first fic after a 4 month long writers block.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Probably writing for new fandoms, or at the very least having more fandoms to write for. I doubt I will ever stop writing
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
When you actually hit that groove where all your ideas come together and the words just fucking flow
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Fucking summaries can go to hell
33. Why do you write?
Because I have stories to share
tagging @talkativelock, @therealmnemo, @rannadylin, and anyone else who wants to get their hands on this

In which it gets sappy
Tagged by the amazing @lethesomething!!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
So uh. BS is actually short for bittersweet, but now it doubles as my in-joke for BS in whateverCourse -- hence the in. So BS in oranges.
Then it’s bittersweetoranges because i read this fic called bittersweet and it was damn good to me at the time. Also my favorite fruit is orange.
...I’m bot good at giving names nor titles. Haha.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).
Hm. Overall, that would be my KuroYachi one-shot The Lights in the Sky are Stars. It was sort of my love letter to the KuroYachi ship, and so I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be able to add on to it.
For subscriptions that would be my still unfinished brofest piece, The Thief, the Witch, and the Fae. This one is my bid at making an interesting take on certain characters and dynamics in a dark fantasy setting. Futakuchi is the lead if only because @haruhi02 accidentally gave me his name when I asked for random characters.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
A freezing link from Breath of the Wild. Well, why not? Haha. I love Link, I love Breath of the Wild, and when I resurfaced back on tumblr botw recently came out and also the free icons.
(the rest is under a cut because it’s long and sappy)
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Well. I won’t name favorites. Frequent commenters tho... they’d be my friends from chat, so shoutout to @lethesomething and @haruhi02 because you guys are great.
To be fair, I don’t think I post frequently enough for people to keep their eyes peeled for me.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Boy, do I. Basically anything in my bookmarks are the things I regularly return to read. Quite notable, however is anything by bigspoonnoya. God. I love her work. From the HQ to the BNHA to the YOI.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I bookmark more than I subscribed. Buuuuuuuuut I’m subscribed to a grand total of 4 works, and I’ve bookmarked 62 fics.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Fantasy. Hands down. There’s three-ish urban ones, then there’s two full-on fantasy pieces. The rest are slice-of-life.
There’s just something about fantasy that makes me really happy. It might be the freedom to make, or that I like using fantasy as a substitute for when I want to comment on current events. But usually I like writing things that are fantastical.
Someday I want to make write a slice-of-life that makes the mundane fantastical, and then vice versa. If only because it’s the little things that steal my heart and imagination every single time.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Four wonderful people are subscribed to me, while 12 are subscribed to my stories. For bookmarks, I have a total of 24. ^^
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Many of my topic matter don’t really make much, if any, waves -- at least that’s what I think. I’m only afraid I can’t do justice to my dark/fantasy elements, because that would be a real shame.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
First it’s definitely finishing what I start. My multichaps aren’t incredibly long, but I worry a lot about continuation and future chapters that it spoils writing the present one, so I hope to work on that.
Next is my exposition and narration. I can only say “Name smiles.” so much before I think I write in a horribly stale matter.
... Does writing romance or any sort of sexual or romantic contact count? Cause, boy do I need practice.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Is YamaYachi popular? KuroYachi? I’m pretty sure they’re an okay and accepted ship. But in any case the rarest pair I’ve written is KuroYachi, and then KamaFuta. Because those pairs need more content, and I’m pretty willing to fill them.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
I have 9 works in total. Five of which are completed oneshot, and the other four are unfinished multichaps. See the trend yet?
One of the finished oneshots is the longshot Nowhere in the Sea. It’s the first fic I finished in my whole 17 (at the time) years of living.
Of my unfinished things, one of them is an anthology (that I should probably close since I’m not planning on updating anytime soon) and then the three fantasy pieces that has a lot Worldbuilding™.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
H A H A.
Hm. So, I switch between Google Docs, Sublime Text 3, and OneNote. But there’s a whooping 17 unwritten stories in various states of disrepair.
I’m most excited for the YamaYachi one, and also the sprawling ensemble cast one. :D
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I mostly keep them in my head. So they flit in and out of my memory like deadlines. On the rare occasion that I’m possessed by the idea, I’l have written the idea down and then some on anything I find convenient at the time (laptop, phone, or paper.)
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Yes. @haruhi02 was my partner for the hq fantasy fest thing. She was with me when I finished my first ever fic Nowhere in the Sea.
16. How did you discover AO3?
I was friends with this author back in FF.Net, and she had an AO3 account. Then, I branched off her fics to read the FE:A fics.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
LOL. Of course not. I can say, with confidence, that I am probably obscure.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Hm...
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Fun fact, the first fan fic I wrote was an unfinished novelization of the Swan Princess (Nest Family Entertainment), and then an illustrated re-telling of Barbie’s Princess and the Nutracker. I started seriously pursuing writing around... the grade 5, when my bully of an English teacher said I had a talent for writing. If I had any it remains to be seen. But it was my friends back on FFnet. The likes of Mafi, and Tune, and Loke. They were there for me during my baby days writing for a fandom. We weren’t in the same fandom, but they inspired me so much.
Also I really like Philip Pullman and J.K. Rowling and thought it would be awesome to publish and write books.
Today though, it’s my friends in the chat who continue to inspire me everyday.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
I don’t think I’m qualified. But if I should, it’d be to stay strong and welcome to addictive cycle of happiness and misery. Because there’s nothing like writing that one perfect scene -- it’s worth all the stress and the struggle.
Also. Writing is like wine, it get’s better with age, but it doesn’t mean that you like wine.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I plot a lot. Like a lot. But I throw out a lot through the window when push comes to shove. Sometimes I’ll outwrite what I’ve planned or plan something new and then I’ll get flung into a crisis. Haha. Fun.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
The worst comment I’ve had is spam on Nowhere in the Sea. I just wish I had more comments. #NoShame.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Smut. A bit of action, but action is easier than doing the sexy.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
I’m focusing all my energy on Amor Fati, which is my gift for the fantasy exchange. I need to finish that because it’d be sad if I didn’t. And, most importantly, I want to make my giftee proud.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
The plan is to keep up with my plans. I have no shortage of plans. Hahaha. But I do plan on finishing up Amor Fati then finishing either Scales or The Thief, the Witch, and the Fae before moving on to other projects.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Nope. It would probably be better if I did, but acads just eats a lot of my time.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
I think it’s arrogant to think that I did, but I guess I did. I was 13ish -- two years after fifth grade -- when I took writing more seriously... And looking back my writing style changed. ^^
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I love all my stories for different reasons. To be honest tho, it’s what I haven’t written and am yet to write. I love The Thief, the Witch, and the Fae for it’s dark and heavy atmosphere. Scales for its hesitance and its secrecy. Amor Fati for the melancholy and for its world. Nowhere in the Sea for being my first in a lot of things (but also it’s magic system and world gdi). Lights in the Sky are Stars for it’s sweet fluff. Class Pizza for its tomfoolery. So on and so forth.
As much as I have a hard time looking at my writing, I won’t deny that I love them for the things that they are and could be.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
... Probably my anthology? It reminds me of bad memories.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Here, still suffering but instead out of school (hopefully) and knee deep in some sort of job.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
The planning and the talking and the crying and the reading.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
The writing. Or maybe that point between the first scene and the third. Something like that.
33. Why do you write?
Why don’t I? Writing is me. I’ve did things for the sake of reference, I’ve devoted a lot of myself to writing and the idea of writing. I love it. It’s an amazing way to express.
I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
Sooo. For tagging. @spacegaykj and @astersandstuffs and @slothesaurus if you guys don’t mind ^^. Feel free to ignore if you want. Thank you for the time.
Also double tagging @haruhi02 because I can.
#ask me stuff#thanks for the tag#I didn't expect to be so sap#but you know acads just chewed me up and spit me out so that might be a thing#hahaha

Tagged by @yokohamastraydogs . Thank you!
Tag game under the cut cause it’s kinda long:
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
No one had this url yet so it was kinda the obvious choice based on what I was planning on posting. It doesn’t get more straightforward than this kids.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
I didn’t take Wattpad into account because I’m lazy. The most I have on Tumblr is 42 notes on this one. Kinda surprising since I usually get 10-20 something notes on most stuff here. This scenario is an outlier lol.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I don’t use AO3 much and I don’t even think my account had an icon.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I appreciate all the comments I get, so I don’t think I really have any favourite people who do so.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I mostly just go back and read Fyodor related scenarios that are actually decent. They’re in short supply.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
None lol, even when I used AO3 regularly I never did anything like that.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I mostly like writing AUs based on other fictional media I really like. Usually films, but I also have that Crime & Punishment AU.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
I have 451 followers right now.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I can’t really think of anything off the top of my head. I mean I do have some fucked up smut ideas but I can’t write smut for shit even if it’s vanilla.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’d like to get better at writing smut, and just in general writing actions because I think that’s a major problem of mine. I also need to get better at replying to comments because I never know what to say to people. Of course it would also be nice if I was able to update more frequently.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I don’t write ships...
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
None.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
15. Seems like a lot but I only write scenarios. I’ve never written a full story with chapters because I have commitment issues. At the most I’ve only done a sequel type thing.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I have a list of a bunch of ideas. If an idea gets big enough and I feel the need to write it, I’ll write down all the stuff I can think of for it in a document.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No.
16. How did you discover AO3?
Probably when I was looking for fanfiction in 2013. I won’t mention the fandom because I kinda regret being into it now. I read a lot of things I shouldn’t have read at 14.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
No lmao. Fyodor’s not a super popular character as it is. I feel like I’m probably well known enough for my liking though.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
No. I’m not that corny lol
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Ummm, idk? I do like novels but idk if any of them ever inspired me to write all that much. I’ve never really written a decent original story because in all honesty I don’t care much about that. I write this stupid fanfiction as wish fulfillment for myself because nobody would do it for me at the time.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Practice a lot, read a lot. I say read because it’ll help broaden your horizons, vocabulary, and give you ideas on styles to experiment with. You’ll likely also get a lot of inspiration from a good book, so don’t only read fanfiction.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Sometimes I just have a rough idea and start from there. In other cases I have most of what I want to happen written out and I just have to connect all of the pieces. Usually when it’s the latter though a lot ends up changing as I write.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I don’t think I’ve had a bad comment before. The worst I’ve gotten is someone asking about the logic I used once, and I replied with what I actually meant. They were nice about it though originally and understood where I was coming from after I informed them. I’ve also had people point out a pun I accidentally made once, it kinda detracted from the seriousness of the story so looking back on it I feel like a dumbass.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Anything involving describing movement in all honesty. It’s at the point where I’d rather just only write dialogue, I love dialogue.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Just working on requests. I also have some ongoing one shots I thought of myself that I might finish eventually.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Yeah. I just write what I’m in the mood for sometimes, so there’s a few things that only have a page written or haven’t been touched in ages.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No. I’m really busy so I usually just write whenever I have free time and feel like it.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Yeah, for sure. I’m not sure if it’s by much but I do see it.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Hmm, not sure. Though I like my angst more than anything else usually.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I’m not really a big fan of the first one I wrote, since it’s mediocre. I’m also not super into the high school AU I did a little bit after that.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I don’t plan on writing for my career and I don’t see myself continuing to write fanfic for that long. By then at most I’d probably be writing papers for grad school or writing a report for my job.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Dialogue -- for me at least.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Describing movement and actions.
33. Why do you write?
It’s something to do with my free time. It’s also partially for wish fulfillment.

Most people have probably be tagged already and I need to get back to studying now...

hi! so i just made an archive of our own account and i don't know what to post first. do you have any tips or advice for posting on ao3? do you have any tips for ao3 in general? thank you!
Hi there anon! Thank you for your question!
First things first: I think to a certain extent, what to post first is going to be entirely up to you. Whatever you feel like writing, whatever format it’s in, you should write it up and post it! Or, depending on how long you’ve been using the site as a guest, you can look through other people’s content to pay attention to tagging, author’s notes, formatting – that kind of thing. AO3 is user-friendly in most ways, and you’ll grasp it pretty quickly.
But, I do have a couple tips to help you out on your first run-through (and actually some helpful tricks I think some more familiar users may not know, as well)!
BTW since we’re on the topic, if you use the subscribe function on AO3!!! Did you know about the different ways to subscribe to an author, a series, or an individual work?
You can only subscribe to an author from their dashboard or their profile page! If you are in the middle of reading a particular fic, and you hit the subscribe button at the top of the page, you will only subscribe to updates for that fic. Same deal if you want to subscribe to a series, you must be on the series page. Subscribing to a fic within that series will only subscribe you to that specific fic – you will get updates if that story is updated/chapters are added, but not if a new work is added to the series.
I suspect some people are unaware of this, due to the frequent amount of subscriptions I get on one-shots! (But, idk… maybe there’s just some really hopeful people out there laijefliajelsjf)
Anyway, now, onto the rest of this textbook (it got long)!
NEW WORK vs DRAFTINGWhen you go to post your very first work on AO3, you’ll go to Post > New Work at the very top to open up AO3′s drafting tool. From here, you can go through and copy over a work from Word or Google docs or whatever writing program you use, or just write up your fic in the post box itself!
Either way you choose, you can then decide to post your work right then and there (Post Without Preview), or if you are still editing it, you can choose the Preview option. This will take you to the work as it will appear once posted; from there you can go back to the editing page, which will now have a Save Without Posting option. Use this if you would just like to save your work and come back to it later. Note: drafts are saved for one month only.
HTML vs RICH TEXTWhen you open your drafts/start a new work, the main field for your text has two options: HTML or Rich Text. HTML just shows you all HTML codes in your work. Rich Text is probably what you want to work in while editing, because you’ll only see this bar in that format:
However, sometimes you will want to use the HTML section in order to copy over text from another source that allows HTML format; for instance, Tumblr! I always copy the HTML from my tumblr fics over to AO3 when posting, because it is the easiest/fastest way to ensure the formatting stays intact. Here’s where to find that:
AVOID BACKDATED DRAFTSThis is a pitfall I encountered with my first fic I ever posted. When you create a draft, the date of posting defaults to the date you first saved the draft. So if you are like me and you draft fics way in advance of posting, you need to make sure to update the post date before you actually hit post, or it will backdate your fic – this happened with This Place in the Sky, and it was several hours before I realized it had backdated by a week, and no one was seeing it T.T Learn from my mistakes, younglings
(And if you want to backdate a draft, then you would go in here to alter the date.)
ITALICS ISSUESome people have noticed an issue with AO3 that causes fics to have odd spaces after punctuation (periods, quotation marks, dashes). This is a glitch related to italicizing when you transfer over fics from another source. To avoid having to search your entire fic for those spaces, always italicize the punctuation that precedes/follows your italicized words. For instance:
“No!” – quotations/exclamation not italicized, glitch makes it show up as:
“No!” – all punctuation italicized, now shows up as:
:D It’s just less of a headache to have to comb through and find all the random spaces, I find, when you just italicize beforehand! A preemptive strike.
PARAGRAPH SPACINGLet’s look at the variations of line spacing in a posted fic:
And here’s what this looks like in AO3′s Rich Text editor:
Sorry that is so tiny, but notice the clear difference in spaces between paragraphs while editing! There’s no actual correct way to do this, but! The “regular” option of spacing is the most common on AO3, and also the easiest to read. Avoid the no spacing option at all costs! It can be a huge headache to read, unless you are indenting paragraphs (less common on AO3, but acceptable). I tend to dislike the double spacing option as well because I feel like it breaks up the flow of wording, but that’s just personal preference.
HOW TO AVOID DOUBLE SPACING BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS
Frequent posters may also have noticed a thing AO3 does where it will insert double spaces at random intervals, often for large sections of the fic at a time, for no discernible reason. This happens often when you copy your work over from another source. But there’s an easy fix!
On MS Word and Google docs, find the “Add space after paragraph” option, and enable it for every fic you write. When you hit Enter (ONCE) to go to a new paragraph, it will autospace for you (meaning, you should not need to double tap the Enter key).
Now when you copy this over to AO3, it will read ONE SPACE reliably, giving you that regular spacing option up above. Cool news: if you copy your HTML from Tumblr to HTML on AO3, you don’t even need to worry about this. HTML be chill like that
QUICK HTML CODESAnother thing I see people asking is how to add hyperlinks! But also, did you know you can add links, bolded, and italicized text to your summary/notes as well? You just have to put them in HTML, and this:
ItalicsBoldHyperlink
will show up as:
You can easily bold/italicize/add links in the Rich Text editor, but summary/notes are HTML only and you will have to use the above. These are the most useful/common options you’ll need, I think. Try to preview before posting to make sure you got it right (and haven’t bolded your entire summary and the world with it on accident).
LINK BACK TO TUMBLRThere’s an easy way to link your stories to Tumblr (or Twitter) that automatically includes your title, tags, summary, and all other relevant information right in the post! Just hit this button at the top of your fic, once it’s posted – it’ll take you to the Tumblr log-in screen, so log-in and from there you can edit the post. This is what I use to make all my AO3 fic posts on Tumblr \o/
TAGS/SYNOPSISFinally, more of a stylistic note! Be thoughtful when tagging your fic/writing a synopsis. In general, try to be clear and concise, so people can see what they’re getting into at a glance. Tag what’s important to the theme and tone of your fic. This really varies from person to person… maybe you want to tag every single thing your fic encompasses! I find really long tags to be overwhelming when browsing AO3, and prefer simple ones. I tend to overtag more for smut-heavy/PWP than I do for longer, plot driven fics.
Your summary should also be clear and to the point, and describe the content of the fic. You can put any other thoughts in your beginning and end notes; if you are leaning towards saying anything like “sorry this sucks this is my first fic/I am bad at summaries/etc” just leave that out! If you don’t like summaries, use a quote from the fic. You don’t have to apologize for posting, even if you don’t think it’s a Shakespearean masterpiece. You still wrote a fic, and that’s awesome!
This is everything I could think of for the time being…I hope it’s helpful!!

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
My A03 username, and main blog and twitter and facebook and freaking discord and literally every single thing is Darke_Eco_Freak either with hyphens, spaces or underscores and basically I was an edgy 11 year old who loved Jak II and the concept of the evil version of the protag Jak. Only I wanted to be extra Edge™ so I added an extra E to dark.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Hits: Sex Pollen isn’t a real Thing (it was one of the first smuts I wrote and it’s kinda bad now whoops)
Kudos: Sex Pollen again
Comments: T(w)o Me, Fo(u)r Us, or as I call it 2/4
Subs: 2/4
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
It’s been Virus from this piece of art for some months now. Why? Because Kat made it and I love it a lot so you know
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Um damn, I haven’t gotten regular comments in a few months except from my friends whom I spam with my many many fics. I’m actually in another fandom I made another archive account for because reasons but yeah. My friends are my fave
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I haven’t actually read fic in a while, there’s one or two Daredevil ones I think about but I don’t go back and re-read, my attention span’s been pretty shit for a while.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I’m not subbed to anyone but I have bookmarked 6 fics
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
None really. My latest fandom isn’t really open for AU’s, well written Au’s at least and yes I’m forever salty over that. Hmm, if there’s one I like to toy with though it’s Evil AU’s, you know the villain turns bad AU? Love em
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Subs: 465
Bookmarked: 2133
I don’t really care though because A) I’ve been in a lot of fandoms since 2014 and I know most ppl are here for the porn as per comments on said porn.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Idgaf. I’ve written necro, cannibalism, torture porn, self-insert stuff. Honestly I dump most of what my other fandom wouldn’t accept on this one. Plus Fyodor is a very easy character to manipulate for me so it’s always fun.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’d like to be better about my chaptered fics, not abandoning them and things like that. Also, action scenes, I want to get better at those.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I multiship myself to hell. For this fandom I write whatever catches my eye because I don’t know the characters all that well? The running meme of me not watching the show is still a thing. In my other fandom, I’m one of the few writers around and I write every single ship I can think of cause I can.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
One my darke account: 73, on my other account; 10 but I post a lot to tumblr and don’t really cross post all that much.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
I can’t tell you that because I just keep huge word docs around but for the year I’ve written about 600 k so that’s cool.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I just write off the top of my head most of the time, I’ll talk out a plot with a friend sometimes but otherwise it’s just whatever I feel as the day goes.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
I have, two, soon to be three.
16. How did you discover AO3?
I think I saw someone on ff.net mention it and I started looking at the site.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Fuck no lol. I’m here writing the rarest of pairs and writing oc/characters, not to mention in first person sometimes and those tags alone mean ppl won’t read. Eh, I’m just posting to archive to bolster the number of fics a character has tbh. (this is for BSD fandom but I’ve never been a popular/famous author in any fandom)
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Umm, half the time I’m not sure I have ppl beyond friends who read my fics so yeah.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I’d say Lakshmi Persad, a local author. Mostly because I hated having to do that book in lit class and wanted to do better than her.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
If you want it, make it. I’m serious, don’t count on anyone to make the content you want to see, do it yourself and people might follow suit, if not, at least you made it. Hella.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I finish stories and still have no idea if I figured them out or not.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I’ve gotten a few, mostly I ignore them. But there was this one fic, it wasn’t for anyone but me and I shouldn’t have posted it at all but I did and someone told me that the characterization was completely wrong for the character I was writing and I ended up leaving the fic alone for months and months. I got back to it eventually but I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish that fic tbh.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Action gives me joint pain. I just how do you make it flow?
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
I want it All
Deathless Sleep
Missing Pages
Five times he fell
Divine(d) Visions
2/4
Many lil drabbles and sexy times.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
I can’t plan to save my life
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
It used to be 300 a day now it’s 2k because apparently I hate myself. Most of the time I meet it, between the two fandoms I write for daily so yay.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Absolutely.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Step back Through Time and Remember my Touch, definitely those two. One’s the original fic and the other is the sequel. Best things I wrote all year
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Maybe Gone, that’s a really old one but god the cringe.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Hopefully I figured out those damn action scenes.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
I think bringing the characters to life in my own head is the easiest thing.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Not letting lack of feedback get to me cause I’m not writing popular shit, I don’t expect it but god damn it gets discouraging as fuck to see something I worked hard on just kinda flop and drown.
33. Why do you write?
I can’t do anything else and crave validation like the attention whore I am.
I’m tagging @chuuyasuggestions @kyusakusuggestions um idk who has archive shit. If you follow me and you see it, you have to do it okay?
#dear lord#all my opm stuff was popping#but that was about 2 years ago almost?#jesus#it's been a while

Question tag for AO3 writers~~
I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms. So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
'Her dust is very pretty' is the last part of a Dorothy Parker poem called Epitaph for a Darling Lady. Dorothy Parker is the only poet I’ve ever liked. I usually detest poetry and find it stupid and annoying. But I like most of hers. I used this as my first tumblr URL too. It’s just kind of my name now. I’ve been using it since 2010.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Subs is Chemicals with 177, bookmarks is Neko at 116, hits is Chemicals at 18600, and kudos is Chemicals again with 694. Stats are weird.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it?
It’s ahegao Kuroko lmaaaaooooo. I chose it cause I love slutty Kuroko.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Quite a few actually. Maybe too many to list even... I’d say High_Noon and Goldfasan are the ones I recognise or see the most?
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I don’t actually read that much fanfiction? Which might be odd for someone who writes a lot of fanfiction. Idk I tend to find a few really good ones and then reread them for eternity and never look for anything new. Though tbh I haven’t read fanfiction for a number of months now. I’ve been too busy, or too stressed (and definitely too autistic).
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? Subbed to 7 fics (most of which are really old and will never be updated, or are friends’ stories). I have 231 bookmarks. Apparently. I have no idea what they all are, because only 30 of them are my OTP, and I only started bookmarking last year, and again, I don’t read much. I think AO3 is lying to me. Likely, as it lists my subs as 67, but I counted them and there’s only 7 in there plus 2 author subs. Conspiracies.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I define AU as ‘completely unrelated to the main plot’ so, if the KnB characters were in fuedal Japan. I use UA (universe alteration) to define things such as if a KnB story followed the general main plot (basketball) but had changes to it, such as omegaverse (though I don’t consider ships UAs). With that said, tbh I don’t think I have one? I write a whole range of stuff. I don’t think I lean towards any particular AU or UA.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Total bookmarks: 1285 Total subs: 504
9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Honestly I don’t think I’m ashamed of anything by this point. I’m probably one of the most non-judgemental and open-minded people you’ll meet, so I kinda have no shame with that. Like, I won’t judge other people for having weird interests, and therefore don’t feel any shame for my own because I see no reason to have a problem with it. If people don’t like my writing they don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing them to.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’m mostly okay at replying to comments, sometimes I won’t reply if I don’t know how to respond or I’m busy/tired. Unless I feel like there’s no reason to further reply to a comment, I’ll usually try to reply later (sometimes months....). I need to get better at putting description in instead of just rushing through something and shoving it at the internet saying I’M SICK OF IT JUST TAKE IT HOW IT IS”. Ideally it would be nice to update more frequently and consistently but that’s something that will never change due to my mental and physical health sooo. Whatevs.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
tbh I think it’s arguable if even the more popular ships I write are even that popular. The most popular ship I write is Akakuro I guess? I do write a bunch of rarer pairs (Mayumibu hghghghgh also Aoaka yes) occasionally though.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
87. Which I feel like is a lot considering I did about 50 of those in one year.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
39 in Google Docs. Possibly. I’m half asleep and may have missed some. I have a crap tonne more in MS Word, but I don’t want to count them all. Oh, fyi, these are only for my current fandom. I have other stories in Docs and Word that are original or other fandoms.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Write everything down. Either in a document or just in the notes on my phone.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No, but I’d like to. It sounds interesting.
16. How did you discover AO3?
An uh, ex-something found it in 2013 and showed it to me. I liked it more than FF.net, which always gave me a headache with it’s shitty UI and layout, and Livejournal, which was either dead or didn’t exist for my fandoms back then. Does anyone still even use those 2 sites as their main story platform?
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Not at all. I might say I am possibly known or recognised, but I definitely do not think famous or popular at all. Far from it.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Does anyone? I’m not published yet lmao and neither am I a Korean idol so uhhh, no, my readers do not have a nickname or fandom.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I would say no. No one prompted me to start writing when I was little, I just did it cause I liked it. Even when I started writing seriously, and when I started writing fanfiction, it was all me. I guess there have been writers who have inspired me to get better though? Namely Mikssi and goseum-dochi.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
I was once told that if you can't think of anything to write just put SOMETHING on the page. Be it a date or a title or an idea. Just get something on the page. I now start every story by dating when exactly I started it (yes even the exact time). It's less intimidating that way. Writing down my ideas also helps me plan.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I often have a general idea or at least ideas for future chapters. But mostly I just bullshit my way through it lmao. It often backfires.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
The only negative comment I've gotten on a story that really upset me was once being called insensitive when referring to sexual abuse. It really offended me because. Um. You... do not know my past experiences. At all. And I'm not going to bring them up because of that. But wow. And it bothered me too that they called me insensitive when I was just writing from experience. Like ok. Sure. Cool. I mean I could see where they were coming from, but I’m going to take a guess and say they had never experienced what I was writing about. I’ve gotten a couple of other negative comments, but they didn’t upset or ‘get to me’ so much as just piss me off due to the stupidity of them.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Action.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Uhhh, I guess mostly right now I’m working on Nano, and one other story. I have unfinished and ongoing things, but they’re on the back burner right now.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
To a really problematic degree.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Definitely not. Way too much pressure. Do not need.
27. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?
My god, yes. From my early original (shite) stories of 2007-2009, to my really early (also shite) fandom fics in 2011-2012, to my explosion in the VIXX fandom (at least 80% shite), to now... My goodness. I’m actually in the half-hearted process of editing old AO3 fics to be easier on the eyes. Mostly that’s relatively minor changes. If I went back to AFF. Hoo. I’m highkey scared of looking at some of those again.
28. What is your favorite story that you've written?
I guess I’d say Chemicals. It’s a story I always wanted to do, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also have to make mention to NMT, since that thing was my life for like 2 years, and writing it helped a lot. I also am quite fond of what I refer to as my ‘cat vampire story’ aka this. I also don’t mind my story Wanderlust. I think I put more effort into that one than I do with most things I write.
29. What is your least favorite story that you've written?
MMMMM I can think of it and I don’t want to acknowledge its existence at all. IT NEVER HAPPENED AND IT WAS A MISTAKE. Also NMT.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Probably not published yet but goddamn will I try (not very hard though)
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
For me it's writing dialogue. Chat room/text message based dialogue is especially fun.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Starting and ending the story (or, if it’s a chaptered story, ending the chapter). Also liking your own work. And not comparing yourself to others. And holding onto the hope that maybe one day you’ll actually be successful and you should keep going.
33. Why do you write?
idek. It’s fun? Satisfying? It arguably sometimes entertains people? Gives me something to do. Unleash all that creativity bopping around up there. idk. Do I need a reason?
Anyways that’s all the questions, so I’ll put them here as well without the answers to easily c+p.

Responses under the cut!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
It’s a play on how in Bleach Ichigo’s sisters call him Ichi-nii. I always saw Ichigo as a brother figure and wished he was my brother instead of the jackass of an older brother that I have, so it’s IchiBri cause Bri is the first half of my last name.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback?
Wrong Place, Wrong Time. Which is honestly surprising cause it was my first sh/eith fic and I’m still in awe that so many people continue to follow it and leave comments every chapter.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it?
It’s the same as my tumblr icon cause I adore Shiro and I love how pretty his eyes are in it.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
All of them. Like honestly, when someone comments all the time, they become a dear friend to me. I have so much gratitude for them that I just want to shower them with love.
5. Is there a fanfic you keep going back to read again and again?
There’s some old Grimm/Ichi fics I absolutely loved in high school that I still reread every now and then.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
Including author subscriptions, it’s 41. And I’ve got 73 bookmarks.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Magical, maybe?? Or slightly magical, like modern aus with demons or witches or time travel. Most of my original stuff is modern fantasy/supernatural/monster stuff too.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total?
18 subscribed to me as an author, 251 story subscriptions, and 300 story bookmarks in total
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I’d love to write some really dark, twisted shit. But yeah, not super into the whole ‘fiction equals reality’ argument that many people like tossing around. I’m lucky enough to avoid an/ties in the v.ld fandom so I’m not gonna push my luck.
10. Is there anything you’d like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Outlining and sticking to a damn plot. I wing everything and change so much it’s not even funny. It’d be so much easier if I could sit down and plot out a story before starting it, but I’m too impatient for that.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Normally popular ships. Call me vain, but I prefer the bigger audience that comes with popular ships.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day?
25
13. How many stories do you have saved in/ with your writing program?
As in like wips? Cause not counting one-liners or jumbled ideas tossed together, then about 6. But if overall, then everything I’ve written since freshman year of high school, so a lot.
14. Do you write down story ideas or just keep them in your head?
I write them down in a note pad app on my phone cause they normally come to me when I don’t have pen/paper. I’ve been known to wake up in the middle of the night with an idea, type it out on the app, and find garbled nonsense the next morning, lol.
15. Have you ever co- authored a story?
Kinda. More like co-authored an au, where we came up with it together and wrote our own separate takes on it.
16. How did you discover AO3?
A bit after I got into Bleach, I was looking for more fics cause ff.net just didn’t have many for the pairing I wanted, and I noticed quite a few authors were moving to AO3 so I checked it out.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
No, but I’m super grateful for the readers I have.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Nope
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Not in particular, but there are plenty of well-written, poetic fics that inspire me to write. Cause the best inspiration for me is reading others’ fics. But encouragement wise, that comes from my fandom friends. And my mom, lol. She reads everything of mine whether it’s fandom or not.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone but who you were yesterday. The writers you’re looking up to have been writing for many years, even decades. With tons of practice and an open mind willing to learn and develop, you’ll find your style and what works for you. Trust me, one day, you’ll look back and see how much you’ve grown, and you’ll feel immense pride in how far you’ve come. But first, you have to give yourself that time to grow.
21. Do you plot out your stories or do you just figure it out as you go?
I plot out the first 3-5 chapters and the climax, but everything else is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And if it’s a oneshot, then I only have a general idea of what I want to write and let myself go whichever direction the words take me.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yep. I’ll admit, I was hurt and pissed off at first. I ignored it, because they could have just as easily stopped reading if they didn’t like the direction the story was going. Like guys, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Writers are people too, and unless you commissioned the story, you have no say in the direction a writer takes it.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (Action, smut, etc)
Lol, I gave up trying to write smut when I realized I was ace, cause it’s just awkward as fuck, and I can’t stop laughing the entire time. But action scenes are kinda the bane of my existence. I think I’ve gotten down the basics and learning how to involve the 5 senses to make it more dynamic, but it’s still like pulling teeth for me. I prefer writing emotional vs physical.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Wrong Place, Wrong Time. Sh/eith Ferngully au. Sh/eith Heart Adventures au. And two original short stories, one about a grim reaper taking the soul of a baby and another about a human falling in love with an ichthyocentaur (basically a mermaid & a centaur all in one). Oh and they're lesbians because fck yeah they are.
25. Do you plan your new projects before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Yeah. I've got a huge list of projects/aus I want to do. My notepad app has so many snippets of different stories/plots it's not even funny.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No. I crumble under pressure, and trying to reach a daily word count always leaves me feeling like shit. Some days I'm lucky to write a single sentence and others I'll go on for hours.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
God yeah. I've been writing stories since elementary school and it's hilarious reading what I thought was amazing back them. And even in just this past year, I've grown a lot and feel as though I've finally settled into a style that’s my own.
28. What is your favourite story that you have written?
Oh man, right now it's probably Grown-ups Come Back just because of how deep that cut me to write it. Like even now when I reread it, the emotions are still raw and I bawl my eyes out.
29. What is your least favourite story that you have written?
Ugh, Casper. It was a halloween extra for AToS, and it was rushed and forced and yeah, not super proud of it.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
With more novels under my belt and hopefully a steady-ish income coming from writing. Cause hopefully one day it can become my full-time job and I’ll be able to support myself off it.
31. What’s the easiest part about writing?
Coming up with plot points/scenes. It's super easy for me to think/write plot points, it's just connecting them together that gets a little challenging.
32. What is the hardest part about writing?
Keeping track of subtle actions. Like a character talking while holding a cup in their hand and then a page later the cup magically disappears cause I forgot I gave them a damn cup.
33. Why do you write?
Because I love it, and I'm good with written words. My oral communication skills suck, and it's frustrating to struggle with getting my thoughts to come out of my mouth properly and cohesively. But writing lets me say exactly what I want to and portray it in a desired way. Also I'm a deeply emotional person and exploring emotions through characters and stories helps to sort through my own and is my main coping mechanism for dealing with life.
