Hello! I'm here again. Could you ignore my first request? I wrote some things wrong (I think) and I got a little paranoid lol. It's just that English isn't my first language, so forgive me for any mistakes.

I wanted to make a request with Mark and the other variants with a reader who is a magical girl like the one in Madoka Magica. Just like Mami Tomoe, being someone talented in combat but a bit absent-minded. I'd love to see the sinister Mark and the Viltrumite loving his silly magical girl.

• At first, he completely underestimates you. You twirl around, shout sparkly catchphrases, and summon weapons out of flowers and hearts? He assumes you’re just for show.

• That assumption does not survive your first team-up. One minute you’re giggling, the next you’re gracefully sniping monsters with giant ribbon rifles from 200 yards away.

• He’s stunned into silence the first time you summon a cannon made of roses.

• Constantly amazed by how you’re simultaneously the strongest magical girl he’s ever seen and also the kind of person who gets distracted by shiny rocks mid-battle.

• Your duality fascinates him: deadly, elegant combat with a soft, absent mind. It’s the unpredictability that draws him in.

• He’s possessive in a quiet, intense way. No one’s allowed to even look at you funny—he’ll vaporize them.

• Calls you “his little weapon of mass destruction.” It’s said lovingly.

• You once forgot which side you were on mid-fight and asked him if he wanted to team up “just for fun.” He’s still not over it.

• Sinister Mark enjoys watching you break people with a smile. He’ll be hovering above, arms crossed, while you politely destroy his enemies.

Viltrumite Mark:

• You confuse the hell out of him. Magic? Ribbons? Love-based power? What is this nonsense?

• That is, until you parry his punches with sparkly barriers and nearly blow him into orbit with a glitter bomb-lance.

• He ends up fascinated with your power. Not just because it rivals Viltrumite strength, but because it comes from something he can’t understand: pure, chaotic heart.

• You teach him about Earth shows like Magical Petal Squad and insist he helps you practice transformation poses. He does it. Grudgingly. But he does it.

• He secretly likes watching you float around while humming battle music. It’s become oddly comforting.

• If you space out mid-battle, he’s the one who shouts “Focus!” while covering your blind spot.

• He calls you “sweetheart,” and says it with the kind of reverence Viltrumites usually reserve for war gods.

Riddle Rosehearts

PROS: hardworking, determined and adaptable. we've seen this guy study so hard ever since he popped out of the womb and it resulting in him coming out on top, and he could've easily skipped a few grades because of how smart he is academically and magically. he's also able to remain coolheaded in stressful situations, oftentimes coming up with (usually) rational solutions. he's also really cute when it comes to cakes/tarts. he'd get mad on your behalf, he'd also be kinder towards you, he'd offer to tutor you on subjects you don't understand and tries to be patient, just for you. chronically offline (thats a good thing yes)

CONS: well. first, he's got some serious anger issues he needs to work on; it's not his fault per se, but with how unpredictable the bursts of angers are will probably be tiring. he takes offense to a lot of things and admittedly, he's better post OB but he's still got a long way to go. second, his obsession with the queen of hearts' rules are INsane. there's been instances where he expects outsiders that aren't even in heartslabyul to abide by her rules which is,,, haha lol ermmmmm. he'd probably expect you to do the same. just because youre his partner doesn't mean he'd let you go scot-free if you break any one of them...! again, he's better post OB but still. third, his mother and overall tense family relationship. he's probably this way because of his mother's influence and insane expectations of him, so it won't be very surprising if his mother has a LOT of opinions on you. lastly, he lacks joy and whimsy. he literally never watches movies or play games etc., deeming them unnecessary which is insane????????? HOLY crap im surprised hes still intact

MY FINAL VERDICT: 7/10 — he would make a decent boyfriend. me personally i probably wouldnt date him people like him stress me out but each to their own! he needs to sort himself out before even thinking of dating though

Trey Clover

PROS: he's very big brother like, the kind that's reassuring and makes you feel safe whenever he's near. he rarely gets mad, and if he does, he wouldn't resort to yelling or act irrational. mature, maybe overly so for a guy his age and surrounded by the people he's around, but that's a plus for him. CAN COOK AND CAN BAKE. his family owns a bakery too so you'd probably get discounts because you're dating him. also, his love language is probably acts of service so you can probably expect him to carry most of your stuff, help you with organizing spaces etc. gives in easily... could be both a pro and con. soft-spoken teeheeHEE... he didn't make it into the top 30 of male characters japanese women want to date for no reason.

CONS: that god awful fucking obsession he has with cleaning teeth. OH my god the way he was all like "im the only normal one here omfgggg" during twisted halloween part 2 and then when sebek mentions that his father is a dentist he immediately starts smiling WIDELY and kept pressing him for more info about his dad's dental work like that scene of shrek signing a contract by that little man. whenever he mentions "brushing your teeth" it's going to sound like a threat even when he doesn't mean it that way. going back to gives in easily; it'll become a problem because you know damn well he'd go "umm... nevermind" very often.

MY FINAL VERDICT: 8/10. deducted two points because im genuinely terrified of his cleaning teeth HOBBY. otherwise id say he'd make a really sweet boyfriend. would date, probably.

Cater Diamond

PROS: he's chill, laid-back and easygoing (are there any differences between those three words im sobbing). he plays mediator during tense situations, and he offers peaceful resolutions (most of the time). perceptive, and he's got some nice intuitions. his psychic abilities are cray craaay... I just stared at what I typed for a full minute. I'm never doing that EVER again. he's usually optimistic, and he's also really cheerful so if you like some rainbows in your life, he's your guy. i KNOW he's good at photography since he posts on magicam so much & probably has a decent following. he would take the most godly pictures of you if you wanted. i think he'd break his back and knees to get that angle for you.

CONS: The way he incorporates hashtags in almost every single conversation will kill me. youd be talking about something horrid that happened to you that day and he'd say some shit like "oh no! that's hashtag #diabolical!" (double hashtags since the game does that... ik they dont mean it like that but i just feel like that'd be funny). apparently has a death glare so terrifying it'd kill a man on the spot? you'd either be wetting your pants or be more attracted to him. either way, if you guys ever get into a heated argument and he pulls that out umm bless you i think? and he maybe posts on magicam. too much. it'd be something insignificant and not very worth journalling but he'd take a picture anyways and post it online with some long stupid hashtags like #DelightfulFurry #HotPinkBangin #OneWithTheCrowd with an image of heartslabyul freshmen wearing pink and feeding the flamingoes. but i guess that's part of his charm...?

MY FINAL VERDICT: 7/10. he's handsome and he's a cool guy but the way he talks in hashtags and how he lives on magicam will be a big fat turnoff for me. if you like it, good for you! cay-cay would make me decay-cay!

Ace Trappola

PROS: he'd get mad on your behalf (see to when he punched riddle in the face because he insulted mc). cares for you even if he doesn't admit it outwardly, but will do stuff in the background to help you, even if just a little bit like that time in the halloween event where he and deuce personally went to ask the ghosts to make a costume for mc and grim so they wouldn't have to miss out. playful, there wouldn't be a day that's boring when with him.

CONS: got an extremely loose tongue that got him into trouble loads of times. can't really shut up which is very bad...! he sometimes doesn't think before speaking so ahaha. SO irresponsible sometimes he can fight grim on that. remember when he ran from his punishment at the start of the game? yeah. also is really embarrassing sometimes i have to turn my phone off to ponder about life whenever he says some stupid crap that WILL come back and bite him in the ass later on. also will probably get bored of you? like that one time he ghosted his middle school girlfriend because he doesn't wanna do it anymore... eeeeyikes.

MY FINAL VERDICT: 6/10. the honeymoon phase will be the best, and the rest you just gotta hope he doesn't pull an average teenage boy.

Deuce Spade

PROS: so so so extremely sweet. is willing to do almost anything to make it up to you if he ever wronged you. is willing to change, like how he decided to try and become a model student because he saw his mom crying about him being a delinquent, so if he has any flaws/bad habits that make you uncomfortable he'd try to be better. brave, like stupidly so. was ready to fight malleus in malleus's sr lab coat vignette even if it meant he'd die LMFAOOO. he's also someone who'd get mad on your behalf, but even more than ace. dude WILL get into a brawl with ten people for you. passionate. he'd also be so gentle and kind towards you like how he treats mc in game, never raising his voice at you and if he inadvertently does it he'd apologize immediately. his determination is amazing too. his love for eggs is also really cute... sorry im just rambling now i just really love him bye

CONS: oblivious and very gullible. there's been SO many times where he agrees too fast or just believed everything without a fact check. like in glorious masquerade where azul was talking to him about taking his UM he just went "okay!" without asking why. would probably get into a lot of unneeded trouble for this fact alone.

MY FINAL VERDICT: 10/10. this is a bias on my part but he'd make the sweetest and most amazing boyfriend EVER. he's trying!!! he really is!!! i think he's charmingly idiotic gahahahha hhahaa

well, you can assume that she does, with the tiktok audios she uses and her tomboyish fashion sense (would that be the right word to use?), you can assume that she does.

but even then, you don’t know if kk arnold likes girls like you.

kamorea is the sun.

brighter than most, bringing her light toward select places and people, blinding them with her own smile—kamorea is the sun. she’s a bit more… out there; a complete social butterfly that just never seems to die out, always fluttering around and landing on people … worthy enough, if you were to describe it. she’s the sun, the burst of energy everyone needs—especially on the court.

kamorea shone bright, and when she dimmed, she did not do it for long. there’s a spark in her, one that refuses to go out. it likely never will. she would possibly always be like this; surrounded with the ambition to be the best she could be and the curiosity to match it, it was no doubt that kamorea— kk, would go far. nothing was holding her back.

“yeah, yeah i’m good. just thinking.” you reply,

“what could you be thinkin’ about? girl, i been here yapping your ear off for like a good ten minutes…” kk trails off, a chuckle escaping her. it’s true, she has been. that’s exactly what you’re thinking about. she’s been here.

why is she still here?

there are better things to do. there is more she can possibly find interesting than sitting here yapping your ear off (eventhoughyoucan’thelpbutlookforwardtoit), there is more to her world than just these little moments with you— so why does she extend them? there is more to her. there’s more she should be doing. your eyes flicker to her for a moment, and she tilts her head, waiting for an answer—“what? you gonna keep staring or something?” she teases, that same lilt in her voice that has you pulling at the hem of your shirt. kk shrugs, smug, “yeah, i know, sometimes you just gotta stare thats coo—“

“why are you still here.”

it slips out of your mouth naturally, and kk’s smile? it doesn’t drop. it gets wider.

it’s odd. you expected a great wave of sass and attitude.

regardless, you jump to explain yourself, “sorry, that wasn’t—“

“nah, i know you ain’t mean it that way.”

“i know, i’m sorry, i—“ you pause. “wait.” there’s a beat of silence where you just stare at eachother—you not believing she’s not mad over it, and her just blinking at you with that dorky smile on her face. “what.” you say; you’re confused, obviously, because … well, what? what??

“why am i still here? mm, yeah, let’s think about it—“ she claps her hands together, rubbing them warm as she nods her head and pretends to think on it. she is not, infact, thinking on why she’s still here. she’s thinking about you.

but you? you don’t know that.

you’re out of your mind terrified under a newfound sense of scrutiny from her that isn’t like the usual friendliness she regards you with.

so when she opens her mouth, you open yours and you both speak at the same time:

your eyes widen in disbelief,

kk nearly jumps trying to stop you from standing up,

by then, you’re whisper-yelling at eachother.

you blink. oh. kamorea laughs and you feel warmth, and the hand on top of yours squeezes you tighter.

oh, you soften, okay.

your hand turns, your palm against hers, your fingers intertwining, your eyes widening slightly as hers crease with the impossible widening of her smile, and she laughs. again. as if this is the funniest thing she’s ever seen, as if your sudden shyness is amusing enough to acknowledge, and god bless her soul.

you want to hear that laugh forever.

It’s late and I can’t sleep so onto headcanons I go!!! These are pretty general because love languages are for everyone, not just romantic interests :P

- Acts of Service

- Riddle grew up in a shitty household

- I wrote a lot about it here but his experiences with his mother in short left him emotionally stunted

- Therefore I don’t imagine words or open expressions of affection to be easy for him

- Also I believe that the way he was raised greatly impacted his idea of what love— in any form— should be

- Riddle was only ever shown warmth and affection when his actions reflected positively — this made him see affection as only ever expressed/earned through actions, not words or anything else

- I’d imagine that ingrained itself in him very deeply

- Also there’s this one part where at the start of Book 2 he straighten’s MC’s tie and I imagine that’s how he shows he cares for someone (post Overblot at least)

- Quiet moments where he does something that shows he’s paying attention to whoever he’s focusing on

Trey Clover

- Trey tends to take a lot of responsibility for his loved ones

- We see it a lot in Riddle’s overblot, where he laments that he should have done something to stop him or help him before it was too late (it was something like that, forgive me if I’m a little off lol but I’m pretty sure he felt guilt for being unable to help him despite having kept an eye on him for so long)

- This leads me to believe that his love language is expressed through either quality time or acts of service

- Quality Time because he just comes off as the type of dude to enjoy being around those he cares for and sees it as a moment in itself, whether it be at unbirthday parties or just baking something with others

- Acts of Service because like… everything in his character says so?? He spent so long taking care of Riddle (even if it was from a distance)— he definitely feels like responsibility for others is a way of support/affection and service is how he expresses that value

Cater Diamond

- Words of Affirmation!!!

- Sure he’ll say it like he’s reading out an Instagram caption

- but I can for sure see words as his primary love language!!!

- throughout the game we for sure see him to be very affectionate with his words

- but then we also think about what’s underneath him being all cheery and stuff and I think that he may also appreciate Quality Time

- I think he would find appreciation in moments of silence or just times where he gets to spend time with people

- but he won’t be very vulnerable if it’s someone he doesn’t know or trust all that well

Ace Trappola

- Are petty insults a love language

- I feel like he’s a dick but like in an affectionate way

- we know that Ace for sure has a strong sense of justice

- Even if sometimes not for himself but for others

- Like he skipped out on the MC in the prologue but also stood up to Riddle both on his own behalf and the behalf of his dorm mates

- But I also get the impression that Ace really doesn’t like to be alone?

- Like how often do we see him hanging out by himself? I feel like whenever he pops up in the story he’s either with someone or on his way to come see the MC

- I’m basing this off the interactions he had with Epel when Epel earned his signature spell

- plus I’m putting Acts of Service for him because he devotes a lot of time to acting better than he was to show his love and appreciation for his mom

- Leona’s a pretty closed off guy, so I wouldn’t say that he would so openly express himself with words

- here’s where we get to look into lion patterns

- a lion’s main form of expressing affection is through mutual grooming, cuddling, and resting together!

- therefore… me personally…. I think he’s a cuddle bug at heart

- Now I could say Acts of Service for him but not for the reasons you think

- I know that a lot of people would say “oh duh because he does everything for Leona”

- And it’s true that a lot of Ruggie’s actions are done because he’s getting something out of it (as seen with his relationship with Leona)

- But love of any kind should not be transactional. If it is transactional, then it isn’t love. That’s just a pattern of behavior

- That being said if we look at his backstories we see that he’s big on taking care of the kids in his neighborhood + his grandma

- So that’s why I’ll give him Acts of Service

- If we want to add a factor congruent with his beastman side, this also sort of makes sense

- Hyenas tend to be more submissive towards their possible mates so if he were to be crushing on someone I’d see it as him doing things for them consistently and then retreating to his own little bubble like nothing happened

- Male hyenas do tend to have this ‘approach-avoid’ style of behavior where they’ll get close/do things to show interest in their mate and then back off so

- Blud would sprint out of there in an instant

- Another strong/silent type

- we do see that he gets pretty outspoken with words when he’s passionate but he’s also see he’s pretty shy with his vocabulary

- But obviously he’s not just a wolf lol

- Because let’s think about it— Kalim was super sheltered! His only friend was literally Jamil. Like he knew that he could never trust just anyone and was made to accept it all

- Which is why I think the reason he’s so enamored with parties is because he gets to be around people and feel like he’s part of something

- Leading me to believe that at his core, Kalim’s greatest love language is Quality Time

- But like is that fair to his character?

- I recall somewhere that his dream, if he were not trapped in servitude, would be to travel the world and study ruins

- And I think that would pair nicely with Quality Time as his love language

- I think that if he were to be close to someone it wouldn’t really be conducive to show his affections through acts of service— especially since most of his exhibitions of this trait are portrayed mostly as obligations rather than nature to him

Thinking about jily hcs and I sorta love the idea that Lily was more radical than James…

First off I find the order a very interesting organization, people have brought up before that it’s not exactly a radical organization that pushes for social growth and change but one that protects the status quo. I think that description fits pretty accurately for the 2nd order, and I feel that it fits for the first order as well. The goals of the order were to be a resistance group to the growing “racist/classist” movement, that usually took the form of combat. The Order was disbanded after the war, and most of the members just went about their regular lives, sort of proving it wasn’t a long lasting movement for social progress, possibly just a reactionary one (though to be fair a good number of them did die, but still). This isn’t to say I think the order was bad or detrimental to their society, just that it wasn’t radical in its ideology. I do think you could make an argument that they were radical in their actions to an extent. All of that being said lol, I don’t think the average order member was a raging leftist socialist or whatever, and I never remotely got that impression from James potter. Lily however to me has potential for this. I love examining jily through their political growth together (I think it’s one of their main pulls towards each other) BUT I think it’s sooo fascinating to see Lily going farther than James! You could go so many ways with how this would play out too! Would it cause tension? Would he think she was doing too much? Would she think he wasn’t doing enough? Would there be doubt on either side about their own beliefs? Something else entirely? Idk! I just like it

Also it’s fun for me to imagine the ways she’d be more radical. Would she be against the statute? Would she want to abolish elf slavery? What’s her view on goblin rights? And where would James stand on these issues? Again does it cause tension?

I love all of this! and I agree that Lily would be more radical. I tend to make the order pretty radical when I write it just because that's interesting to me and because of my worldbuilding lol but yeah the weight of canon evidence mostly suggests it's not super anti-system just anti-Death Eaters. Which is also super interesting to think about! Because it creates tensions between characters who want to restore the status quo and characters who want to burn the status quo down. and I could see Lily being one of them. In part because being a Muggleborn coming into a whole new society and then the end of her friendship with Snape fores her to reevaluate her life principles in a way James, though deeply committed to his values to the point of dying for them, doesn't have to because he was raised (most likely lol considering soooo much of their lives is personal headcanon or extracanon) with pretty Dumbledore-aligned values and never has to change his basic assumptions about the world. So I could see her becoming more radical while James is more pro-status quo. Though it must also be stated that James goes above and beyond for his werewolf friend so you can make a case for him as radical too. OR that his politics are like his son's: based on individual and not systematic cases of oppression.

Also it would be fun to see radical Lily come into conflict with totally-voted-for-Thatcher Petunia....

It's also interesting to consider how Sirius comes into this! I also see him as someone who'd be really politically radical: moreso than James and Remus (who desperately wants to fit into the status quo and is probably more conservative than James lol) in part because of moral conviction in part because of having also had to reconsider his entire life. though probably more in theory than in practice: like in theory he'd be anti house elf enslavement in practice we see how he treats kreacher. it'd be really interesting to see Sirius gravitating towards Lily out of a shared anti-establishment sensibility and how this might bring them into conflict with James.

Some thousand years ago, a deal was struck between the Queen of the Forest and a desperate mother. You see, there was a prophesy in the kingdom of a war between brothers - how one would embody light and the other dark, and how they would kill one another. The mothers first child had already been recognized as the warrior of light, and she couldn't bear to watch the King's Guard slaughter her second son. And it was like that for quite some time. Grian living amongst the fae and the forest's inhabitants - even meeting Pearl, who would accompany him on later adventures and become a hermit herself far into the future. They would venture further and further out of the woods each time, observing mortals and life outside of the forest. Eventually the Queen gave them permission to leave - explore as far as their hearts desired - under the promise the two would keep each other safe. The two agreed, and stayed by each others side. Until Evo, of course.

The Watchers aren't angels, per-say, but they're not not angels either? You see, the god they served has been missing for a long time, and without someone to direct their energy, they've gotten a little bored. That's not to say they aren't still looking for their god, but when enlisting help they have potential candidates partake in trials that may seem random to an outsider, but are quite logical to them.

Evo was one of these trials, and most of the participants weren't even aware of what the end-goal prize would be.

Grian still isn't sure how he won, but he knew for sure he did when he stepped through the Watchers Portal and ended up among the stars instead of by his friends side. The Watchers that oversaw Evo wove eyes and magic into Grians soul, granting him their powers, but more-so granting him the responsibility of finding a lost god.

It would be centuries before he met Mumbo, and a few years after that before being invited to Hermitcraft, but that's a story for another time.

i’m reading next gen fic and realising what it is that bothers me so much ab most of it. and just, many fics in general.

it’s the sheer thoughtlessness in the characterisation. i’m reading this potter kids at hogwarts thing and james is a horrific bully who turns on al as soon as he goes into slytherin. the rest of the weasley family is no better. rose is like hermione in first year but infinitely worse, with fanon!ron’s hatred of anything green and silver. all the kids are just. weird.

and it doesn’t make any sense???? like, on one hand you write harry and ginny as good, loving parents. if you take into account all the other adults, as well as the effects of the war and the collective history and experiences they all have, it stands to obvious reason that the kids would be raised differently. would have certain quirks. but won’t necessarily be the same archetypes ykno?

like, idk. it just falls into lazy characterisation for me, and that’s not a bad thing. it’s just so. annoying. bc these are literal blank slates and u can make things SO fun but just. don’t.

a lot of marauder era characterisation goes this way too. but i think i get so annoyed by the next gen stuff is bc i genuinely love all those little shits sm for characters who are essentially nonexistent. it is once again the same issue of me having extremely niche headcanons and getting pissy when everyone else doesn’t think so lol

OH yeah. i had planned to get into that in the section where i talked about fwhip continuing to use the corrupted fertilizer because it works so well that it means his people are fed, but i didn’t elaborate much further than that. so i shall now!

so as i said previously, when famine strikes the grimlands and the royal family have their food needs prioritized, this is something that fwhip and gem, despite both being very young, find awful. i think both of these kids have very strong senses of justice (cough because they’re both autistic cough), gem especially, since she’s the one being trained to be the next countess, so she’s a lot more worldly than fwhip at that point. fwhip is approaching this from a basic fairness standpoint- everyone needs to eat, it’s not fair that he and his family get priority. gem is approaching this based on her experience in other empires and her conversations with other to be emperors- this is not how a good ruler treats their people, a good ruler tries to put their people first always.

i think this manifests in a variety of different ways when they get older. for fwhip, this manifests in putting his people’s food needs above his own when it comes to the corrupted fertilizer. if the fertilizer was giving everybody else nightmares, he would’ve heard about it by now, so clearly it’s just him. that means the fertilizer is a net good, so it stays. i think fwhip is a weird and very distant ruler, one who thinks of himself as a little too equal with his people, and that can be good and bad. something like this, where he puts the people’s need for food above his own wants is (for everyone else) good, but it also means he doesn’t really register how much more important his actions are than anyone else’s. for someone else in the grimlands (or even for fwhip just a few years ago, when he was still the kid brother to the rising countess), blowing up your friend’s house might get you in trouble, but it’s not a big deal. for modern day fwhip, it’s literally an act of war. “peace is boring” is a very frightening attitude for a ruler to hold, and he holds it because he wasn’t properly trained to be count, he’s still very young, and he views himself and his people as pretty much the same when, unfortunately, they just aren’t.

for gem, i think what this does for her behavior doesn’t manifest for her a while. she ran away from the grimlands because she wanted to be a wizard, she wanted to be anything but countess, and i think she did fundamentally believe fwhip would do better than she could. so she becomes a wizard in a very insulated community, and then her instructor disappears and leaves the entire place in her care, and that freaks her out. yes, she was trained to have far greater responsibilities than this, there aren’t even any students for her to train yet, but being in charge scares her still. she so desperately wants to be a good ruler, a better one than anyone in her family line has been for a while, because she’s been up close and personal with bad ones. and i think for gem specifically that manifests in her wanting to be a just ruler. very few people are ever fully beyond redemption for gem. her pillager students just need to put their weapons down, and then they’re ready to learn! see, they weren’t really evil, just angry and armed. sausage has good left in him, even at his worst, she knows it. she just needs to draw it out of him, at any cost. scott didn’t mean to hurt her, he was just scared and she pushed him too far, that’s on her. i think the only person she sees as truly, 100% beyond redemption, who she never really changes her tune on, is xornoth. even the other emperors she isn’t a fan of i don’t think she thinks are irredeemably evil, they’re just assholes and she’s gonna be an asshole back (or she’s gonna let the other WRA members do it). (the only outlier to that is maybe joey. at some point after he gets the crown from xornoth, somebody says he’s most likely beyond saving, and that somebody might be gem but i can’t remember. if it is, i think she had simply run out of energy for second chances for him, and he’s not her responsibility anyways, so she feels less bad about doing it to him than say, a student of hers. if she isn’t the one who says that, disregard.) she is trying to extend justice, to extend second tries to everyone. arguably she even tries this with xornoth, when she tries to learn more about him when he first shows up, but he also made it very clear he had no intentions of improving, so.

TLDR: i think both roseblings are affronted at the fact that because they are nobility, they are inherently better treated in times of crisis. for fwhip, this is because he thinks it’s unfair, that he’s not inherently better than the people of the grimlands, so it’s unfair for him to be treated as such. for gem, she thinks it’s unjust. a good ruler, a just one, would put their people first. so when they get older, this manifests in a variety of ways. for fwhip, he views himself less as a count and more as just another citizen of the grimlands, a tinkerer with a penchant for explosions and not much more. this means in times of crisis he puts the needs of the many over the needs of the few, but it also means he doesn’t think about how much more weight his actions carry with the other empires than the actions of a regular person. for gem, this manifests as trying to extend justice, a helping hand, a second chance, to everyone she can. even at her detriment, there are very few people she believes are totally beyond saving, and she tries as best she can to save them.
