Ok so Mortal Kombat has become super self indulgent. Like, in the past beofre its original producer went bankrupt, Mortal Kombat evolved as a franchise evolved its story. Scorpion wasnt searching revenge agiant his family killer anymore, now he was the elder god's champion. Sub zero became a grandmaster, Sonya and Jax created a organization to inspect Outworld (the other world that its always in war with Earth)

But now the stroy doesnt evolve. They had a reboot on the franchise and they really did simplify the lore to the worst. They made Mileena instead of being Kitana's sister for years before it was revealed she was a clone of her, she was made like for ayear before (which is trange when you see her outfits in the game) They made Shao Kahn a mumbling buffon instead of this war general that had its own contigency plans. They made Quan Chi, the copycat of Shabg Tsung, his replacement for no reason. Then it got worse. After Mortal Kombat 9, the characters evolved but barely. The only reason they did evolve is because Mortal Kombat X is 25 years after the prevoius game. In MK11, instead of evolving characters even further, they just replaced them with newer and younger version on the story. They had a whole plot of Liu Kang, the protagonist and the person who always was there to kill the villain, the villain because he was killed by his own master by accident amd now he doesnt believe shit he does, but they got nowhere with that. They had like a massacre that most of the heroes died on MK9 and they got revived by Quan Chi as revenants, people who objectives were turned for them to become evil. But most of them now are just mindless jobbers who dont do nothing of their own. They didnt plan nothing with the story. They also had developers developed PSTD by looking on actual gore to do the most realistic possible. There was a next gen thing happening but they also abandoned that idea. They focus on the so disinteresting Special Forces military instead of the magical and hellspawns that are way cooler. They pririotize the finishers, the fatalities, more than anything. Even disregarding the characters motives and personality. They all seem like brutish psychopats that just want to see blood and kill people. You can make Jonnhy Cage play a puppet out of his daughter's carcass. This isnt fun anymore. The gameplay also sucks. It got so simplufied that you have no punishing to people just spamming projectiles. The game doesnt have a point anymore. The story doesnt have a point anymore. Nothing matters to MK fans really. The only thing that matters is that there is Gore and that the roster from MK2 is always almost all there.
