Watching a video on orientalism in music and a big ol oriental cockroach skitters on by my feet and ruins my morning... coincidence??? I think not
#IM AO MAAAD WHY WAS SHE HERE#at least they dont technically infest they just come through from time to time#anyways this video is making me feel so bad bc its sbout how westerners by default simply have no clue about eastern music#and so those 'desert vibes' songs that mix together indian iranian arabic and steppe instruments and styles sound fine to us#but theyre just such blatantly incorrect and unresearched songs that pretend to be from a culture that theyre not#and its not westerners fault for being in this state bc we simply dont habe access to things outside our cuktural hegemony#but i still feel bad :(
