I’m always a little bit baffled by the pearl-clutching about Mace attempting to assassinate (nvrmind that he went there for an arrest and Palpatine attacked first) the head of state because *gasp* how terrible

but like, considering what Palpatine did afterward, (and it’s not like it was actually in response, it was the plan either way) (and also nevermind that he was already a dictator at this point, not the democratically elected head of state) and “I sense a plot to destroy the jedi,” a line said by Mace beforehand, it’s really. . Imagine you’re at the head of a small religious order, charged with the protection of not only the democratic state that guy just usurped but also, crucially, the protection of every single child in your monastery and every single knight or student in your order, and the head of state wants to destroy your people, and even belongs to a secret cult committed to the cause of killing your people, and has access to the full might of the state to do so, unopposed by anyone except you- well, what would you do, i guess? What is a reasonable course of action, there?

#personally i'm not opposed to a little bit of mild assasination as a last resort but whatever #look #if the avenues of democracies are shut down people have no choice but to take to streets #if the law stops you from leaving your abuser sometimes kicking the stepladder out from under them is just what you gotta do #if a dictator's term is for life then i guess they might have to die prematurely #if you leave people zero options except the radical one you can hardly be surprised if they're radicalized #............................................where was i going with this #anyway #mace windu

Pulled from videos I put on my Instagram, but they're better together.

Went to clean my car and found I had a stowaway. Little dude was hiding under my passenger seat and would have almost certainly gotten vacuumed up if it had not come out swinging (I think. I don't know mantid behavior too well, but it was jabbing with its foremost legs, so that seems like an attack to me).

I was able to get the mantis onto a Gatorade bottle and out of my way while I cleaned. I was hoping it would leave in the meantime so I didn't have to deal with a tiny animal who was probably just as confused as I was on how it got there. But nope! Dude stuck around and listened to the honky tonk music the car wash was playing, or at least it seemed to be listening based on how it was swaying (note: I'm joking. I'm pretty sure it didn't care about the music. I just kept making comments to it about dancing to the tunes).

In the end, it hopped off the bottle (only after I moved it to the trash can, though I wasn't going to throw it away if it hadn't jumped off) and I got a really cool video of a praying mantis jumping.

And the frame-by-frame of that jump, because why not.

Anyway, yeah! I love them. Love them love them love them love them so much oml. Like their dynamic with Buster is just too perfect and I'm currently obsessed, and VERY SAD- because they don't really get a spot in the script until all the way in Chapter III. And even then, they're just kinda like "what's up? I heard that you're being a lying fuck again :D" so-

It's very much like a "I hate you but I would kill anyone who even touches a hair on your body" kind of relationship between these two maniacs. An "I'd really like to send you into orbit right now, but you're actually wholesome and just traumatized, so I'll cut you some slack- but if you tell a single soul I have a soft side, then I'm gonna choke you to death with the aforementioned cut-off slack" kind of situation. They're both insane <3

starting to feel really complicated about the upcoming Finnish production of Moulin Rouge!

#like. on the one hand I'm of course looking forward to it #but on the other hand. well. it's just that this is hardly my first rodeo.#I've seen some of my all-time favourite productions being redone by other theatres before and they're never as good #(with the possible exception of the Karlstad/Jönköping Les Mis I guess)#(but that was all about Alex being my fav + Philip Jalmelid delivering the most out of this world rendition of Stars I'll ever hear)#and then I'm just very prejudiced against the theatre that's staging the Finnish MR!#with one notable exception every musical I've seen on their big stage has felt... just a little bit soulless to me I guess #maybe it's just because that stage is so big and it always feels like theatre set up in an airplane hangar #or maybe it's because the type of audience they attract almost always gives off a certain slightly detached vibe #or maybe it's something about the way they work itself #or maybe it's all three!#but I'm a little worried that though it's by the same director the Finnish MR! experience simply won't compare favorably to the Swedish one #and then there's the weird feeling you get when it comes to these things... or at least *I* get when it comes to these things #if I'm right in my premonitions and I'll walk out thinking it doesn't hold a candle to the Swedish production that is #inevitably Finnish people are going to love the Finnish MR! and praise it because it's a good production no matter what #so then I'll be stuck in that weird mood #where I'll feel like everyone around me is watching the shadow and I'm the only person who's been outside the cave to see the Real Musical #and I know it's stuck up and silly to feel that way! and yet #oh man. just please let me see the u/s Zidler and I'll be too happy to even compare the rest of it to Stockholm #anyway!! I guess this is something I'll need to work through myself as a musical fan before I go see it #also maybe some fanart of the Swedish production? there's a dude at university who i'm not exactly friends with but i see him pretty regularly due to him being friends with some of my friends and also always meeting at local protests and in sport classes, etc... and like i don't have a problem with him in general but he also obviously has a crush on me and i don't wanna sound mean but it's getting on my nerves. 😭 because i dropped so many hints that i'm gay and not interested at all and still he calls me pretty in languages he thinks i cannot understand and wants to walk me home constantly or hang out despite me saying no. and here i am trying to make this as normal as possible but he still makes me feel quite uncomfortable...

Just one fanfic idea that I got from aysyndic: Thrawn snapping at the Ascendancy for all the manipulation and bantha shit that he was put through while the rebels watching with popcorn

That's a cool idea! Not sure it quite fits with how I tend to write Thrawn - in my head, he doesn't snap, really, and I'm fond of the "I don't see any of this as unusual" idea of how Thrawn sees his treatment by the Syndicure.

If I wrote something like this... it wouldn't necessarily be snapping, and something would have to precipitate it. The Grysk war, maybe, Thrawn (or Rebel!Thrawn) returns from Imperial space with the forces to turn the tide, and while doing so, is stymied or taken to task by the Syndicure in some fashion. Rather than snapping in the angry "how dare you treat me like this" fashion, Thrawn instead simply loses the last of whatever faith in the Syndicure he ever had, decides that they have clearly lost the last of their competence in leadership and have fallen too far into the trap of the Grysk, and calmly and logically (to him anyway) stages a military coup to replace them.
