Dealing with anything outside of the agency was just not your forte. Being stuck to your desk 24/7 hardly helped either but desperate times called for desperate measures so you turned to the only thing that felt familiar. To any sane person, turning to the mafia was an act of absolute lunacy but you were scared and in desperate need of protection and frankly, you didn't want to stress out your coworkers more than you already did. You knew that if you told them the extent of your fear and worries that they would drop everything they were doing and would assist you immediately but ... So much has happened these past few months. It wouldn't be fair to burden them. The mafia was your only option, if they'd have you.
Oddly enough you were welcomed with open arms and by an executive of all people.
There he sat across you in all his mighty glory, a cup of blood red wine on the table, legs crossed and the usual smirk you had come to expect from the ginger man. Despite being in a rival agency, Chuuya was always oddly curt towards you, maybe even downright polite. Well, that was his usual attitude towards strangers (unless he was being provoked that is) but with you it felt... Different. Did you like it? You didn't know. But that didn't matter at this point in time.
"I didn't think you'd come so openly to us." said Chuuya smugly, never once breaking eye contact with you. Feeling yourself tense up you opened your mouth to say something but he interrupted you instead.
"It's alright babe, I know a poor soul when I see one."
Wow, he was oddly intuitive. Uncrossing his legs Chuuya slightly lowered himself, possibly to grab the glass of wine that lay dormant on the table. With a sharp breath you finally spoke up:
"I'm being followed and I no longer feel safe in my own skin anymore. I don't want to bother anyone at the agency but I can't defend myself either so..."
Raising his finger in the air he promptly silenced you.
"So, what you're saying is that you want us to take the fall for whatever happens to you?"
Crap you didn't even bother thinking about the implications. A sudden wave of nausea hit you like a truck but it soon was magically replaced by confusion as the executive started to laugh.
"I'm kidding. I can be funny too, when I want to be."
You couldn't help but to break out into a tiny smile yourself, albeit a very crooked one. Chuuya didn't seem to mind though. You suddenly felt something warm on the top of your hand and you came to the realization that it was most likely Chuuya's hand. You felt his fingers trace various patterns across the soft flesh, like he was trying to get you to talk more, maybe even to soothe you?
You honestly weren't too sure.
His eyes shined with conviction, like a man on a mission. "Tell you the truth, I don't mind you coming here." he said gently. An odd feeling of warmth filled your chest as you blushed but Chuuya didn't allow you the luxury of turning your head.
"Look me in the eye when you speak to me, please. That's all I want."
Was he always so gentle? The Chuuya you knew was brash, loud and, and...
And like magic, he was suddenly next to you, both of your wrists trapped in a tight grip. Feeling his hot breath fan your face you almost felt like squealing but your stupid brain immediately went into overdrive, causing you to say the absolute worst possible thing.
"Dazai-"
"Dazai?"
Shit. Shit, shit, he was going to crush you -
Chuuya was beyond vocal with his distaste for the suicidal maniac and you always understood his reasoning.
But you were a fool and Dazai was charming. It was a very common occurrence for him to flirt with you in the office, to hold you close like this. Dazai was always light and airy, he would be gone almost as fast as he came.
It was fascinating how Chuuya was the complete opposite.
His presence was heavy and the way his eyes glared daggers at you almost made you regret your decision coming here. However, instead of numb pain or a sharp impact you were met with only softness as you could feel him climbing on top of you, your head and back making contact with the soft couch in the process.
"You are here with me and you have the nerve to say that bastards name?"
If he said anything else besides that, you wouldn't know. After all, how could you focus when the mafioso held you so tight but oh so sweetly, almost like a flower you were to scared to drop. You saw his lips move but you couldn't hear any noises that came out of them. For the tiniest second, you imagined what would be like to kiss him, to kiss the fiery man that hovered above you, to taste the bitter wine on his delectable lips.
Your fantasies soon crashed and burned the moment Chuuya said:
"You really should consider leaving the Agency and join us, y'know."
He... He can't be serious. He was joking, you were sure of it. Confusion was written all over your face but Chuuya's stayed the same, no cracks whatsoever. He tsked, his left eye twitching ever so lightly.
"Those detectives can't keep you safe, obviously. But, the Port Mafia can, I can. I can give you anything and everything, just say the word and it is yours."
His words echoed loudly inside your mind and you gaped like a fish, looking at literally anywhere that wasn't him.
Well, what will you do?
The choice is yours.

damijon or damian/chris kent for the ship ask!
Tumblr media
(This got long, I apologize--)
So this is for Damijon, but I want to talk about Chris too a bit, so I will also do that.
So the Super Sons right. I think that despite all of the nonsense behind both of their creations, and the hot mess way they both entered the canon, and the honestly kind of cynical expectation that they would be a pair...they manage to actually be really compelling. And that's not just because they're cute together, though they are, and it's okay to appreciate that, I sure as hell do. But they have a lot of the same issues, actually, both personal and familial, in ways that aren't super apparent, and may not have even been intentional, but are kind of fascinating, I think. Because if you strip it down to bare bones, they both struggle with autonomy in a way that is very common for children of controlling parents, just on a scale that's ass fantastical and all-consuming as everything else in their world. Neither of them are each other's first friend or connection, neither of them are the only person that sees them. But in the time they had together in publication, they got to be themselves outside of their legacies for the first time. Their book wasn't about them being Superboy and Robin as much as it was about them being friends, it wasn't about legacy, it was about them being kids, and it was a refreshing break from the rest of their narratives, and I think gave a look at what was and is still being taken away from them. They both made choices their parents would never, and wouldn't approve of and they got to live and die by their choices, and learn to trust each other, which I'd argue was as much of a hurdle for Jon as it was for Damian. I think they represent freedom to each other, and I think with narratives so choked with expectation and foregone conclusions and narrative convention that it's important and engaging to see them be little sparks of chaos in an otherwise monotonous and agonizing slog as they're pushed down a dark tunnel to be something that neither of them really got a chance to refuse to be.
I think whatever the case may be--platonic, romantic, some other thing that's more confusing but probably makes complete and total sense--that they're important to each other's narratives in a way that their fathers never were, and I'd argue their predecessors weren't either. I think it's special and the tension of that relationship inspired a lot of my extrapolation about other characters in their grouping and honestly my AU probably wouldn't exist without them, or at the very least would look very different.
So Chris Kent right, I love the kid. I think he's ripe for exploration, and that his plot clearly would have gone somewhere if it wasn't for the devil of N52. But see that's actually a problem when it comes to thinking about him in relation to other characters, because in canon, he never got to be one? Not really. He was a sweet kid, that experienced every kind of abuse possible honestly, and continued to be an angst sacrifice until the timeline reset. He never got to have friends, or personal relationships outside his adult wife despite the fact that the book made it explicit that his mind didn't age with his body--
So he was a plot device, used well I think, at least in Last Son, and his only moments of autonomy were used to sacrifice him for the characters in the narrative that really mattered. That's not to say I don't like him, I do, I have a lot I'm writing for him. But most of his character exists in fanspace, where he gets the actual time and focus to develop a personality. A lot of older fans who reject Jon in favor of Chris are looking through nostalgia goggles and also not actually reading Jon, because of the two of them, Jon has(had) a fleshed out, 3 dimensional personality and flaws that were unique from the other members of the Superfam. Chris had all the set up for that, but never got the payoff that he paid for in blood and tears. The Chris I've developed for my writing deals a lot with those same questions of autonomy, but from more of a horror angle than Jon, and I think they're actually really interesting together. But I can't reasonable say what his relationship with the Damian of his time period would have been like, because we don't really know him outside of his trauma, without the trauma, we have very little to actually go on, and with it, it's kind of impossible for them to be in a position to connect, so anything there would complete fanfiction, and fanfiction that I haven't written. And I think that's unfortunately the fate of a lot of these younger characters when handled by writers that don't care about them personally, and don't understand children, or the appeal of narratives centered on them generally.

Your Twaine abs your cheshi look REALLY GOOD!! Their designs are awesome!! I also really like your morose (awesome name btw) and your domino, they look really in love! Please tell more about them and their relationship? Also I saw in your posts that Morose and Twaine were moirails I think? Please also tell more about that because I'm fascinated by your characters and I don't why. Also there was this art of Cheshi, pompom and morose together with diamonds around them? What does it means? (have a good day!!)
Hheheheh oki oki oki, I'll give you the lowdown on the relationships
Pompom <> Cheshi
Cheshi <3 Twaine
Twaine <> Morose
Morose <3 Domino
Domino <3< Twaine
Hope the info below satisfies your curiosity about the characters. I'm still attempting to write this fan-session, and have stuff in drafts, so I wont be going into too many details.
Domino and Morose have a very good relationship, being a page rather than a knight, Morose is a lot more passive than Karkat is, giving him a lot more calm moments, and sorta making him more like Kankri temperament wise (He still can throw tantrums or go on rants, but it's the kind that just builds and builds till he explodes). Domino is pretty understanding of his angry triggers (shes a Mind Mage) but honestly finds that firecracker side of him to be super cute. Though it took them awhile to get together with how anxious Morose often was to enter the city (Unlike Terezi, Domino lived among other trolls) They didn't have a lot of face to face hangouts without Cheshi n Pompom or Twaine tagging along until they were 8 sweeps (they kept him calm)
Being that Domino was studying to becoming a Legaclacerator, and seemed pretty committed to the law of the empire, Morose was always afraid to tell her about his blood color. He knew she wouldn't judge him, it was more that he worried she'd get in trouble, so he kept a 3 foot distance between them for awhile. Still, Morose admired Dominos view point, she was spunky, full of energy and laughs, he just really liked being near her.
Domino n Twaine have a more playful Pitch relationship, they get on each others nerves easily, but 50% of the time they end a fight laughing, and Morose liked seeing that between them.
It was sparks between they when they both decided to come out about how they felt about each other.
(Lil note: I think the reason Karkat n terezi weren't stable is due to how much Karkat kept from Terezi, as well as how explosive his temper and jealousy was, making trust hard to build between them, and it went on for so long like that, they just got use to the dynamic they had, rather than moving past it and letting the relationship evolve)
As for Pompom n Cheshi, back when they were all younger, (Cheshi n Pompom being 6 sweeps n Morose only 4 and the youngest) they met Morose n helped him out after he and his Lusus escaped a drone bombing, and they grew close (Tho those two kinda coddled Morose too much, treating him like a grub, and being too protective despite neither being his moirail) and Morose likes Poms n Cheshi a lot, since they were the first trolls he felt physically comfortable around.
Twaine on the other hand, he and Morose just clicked (Thieves seem to love their Pages XD) and they were official Moirials, and Twaine was the first to know about Morose being a mutant blood and helping him cope. They both were, in a sense, born to lead doomed lives after all, so they just got each other in a special way only a moirail could.

I don't get what that anon is trying to argue. I became a hp fan when I was like 10 and even at that time I didn't agree with some things jkr expressed about her characters. For example, James and Sirius were supposed to be good guys and they were at the right side of the war but I just can't relate that much to them. It doesn't feel right, they were horrible bullies and I'm not sure if there is any instance of them truly changing that. And why would they change it if nobody made them accountable for it? Everyone said that they were just kids and that they grew up later, but I'm not sure? And if I compare the type of bullying that Draco did with what James and Sirius did it just feels like what they did was much worse, but since they were in Gryffindor and they weren't advocating for blood purity then it isn't that bad and since Draco is in Slytherin and agrees with what his family thinks then he's almost irredeemable. And that is just one among many things. For me it is obvious that Snape, Draco, etc., made bad things, and no one is denying that, but I don't understand why some things could be considered right or wrong depending of what character did it, and I feel like jkr did exactly that. I remember how Harry treated Kreacher too, and while I understand where he came from, it just doesn't feel right for me that he treated that way a literal slave. Oh, and the things Dumbledore did... I won't even get into that.
It is not that the bad guys were actually good and the good ones actually bad, it is just that their actions are not judged by the same standards, and that is clearly unfair.
About the wizarding world not changing, you are so right! I feel like there are huge differences between the different families, but there is something so fundamentally wrong about their society that is still there even if Voldemort was defeated. The Weasleys are an open family of pure blood, for example, and yet Molly wanted to have a house elf and everyone mocked Arthur for his fascination about muggles' technologies. Since nothing changed after the war, would be that difficult for another person with thirst of power to convince a huge number of wizards that they are superior and to start a new war? I wouldn't say that.
Hi there!
Yes, I didn’t get that anon either.
I think that the whole “black and white” and “not judged by the same standards” is a serious flaw of the author. The narrative structure of the books limits the ‘objectivity’ since it is only Harry’s PoV we see, but nevertheless JKR could have done more to stress the grey nuances. That she did not will never cease to puzzle me. It means she is either a classist who wants to insinuate that the society as we see it as the end of HP is perfect or she wrote complex characters, grey actions and a layered society with many different shades of prejudices completely by accident.
Both are not good, tbh. The first possibility would be propaganda and the second would mean that she has talent in imagining worlds but not in thinking it through. She vaguely realized that her characters become more interesting with their grey traits and then she proceeds to paint them white because they are the heroes. I sort of warps my mind (and not in a good way). I honestly think it’s the latter, that she has the talent to come up with a layered world and layered characters but lacks the intellectual depth to go through with it.
Actually the society at the end of the HP books reminds me a bit of how I picture German society in the 50s. Everybody is just glad that it’s over but nobody stops to question their own role in the whole mess. That only came later.
And JKR didn’t even have to do more than a few bold strokes. Just mention that there is a reparation committee, educations for wizards and witches on muggle society etc. Just small thing that would actually show that people are aware that Voldemort’s death is not the solution to everything.
Thanks for the ask and the heads up!
