every time there's a new videogame preservation dmca or whatever crackdown people on here love to blame random posts for bringing them visibility. what's up with that
#i believe what actually spurred this¹ is the recent advances in emulation on the ios / apple store#(1: vimm's lair removal of roms i mean. check their homepage if you didn't know)#i think these companies play some mind games where they 'have' to present this image of absolute control over their IPs#but they definitely let a stream of piracy pass through to actually create / 'enhance' fans#like we all know people having access to old games is good business for them. but they can't say that out loud#like idk vimm's lair has been pretty well known for years now lol#in a way these are more symbolic than truly about profit#still fucking sucks ofc. and if i could i'd be a data hoarder. like with a little server rack and all#but yeah it just annoys me how ppl will always blame others just reblogging stuff#like this isn't top secret underground stuff. you can find it on fucking reddit slash r slash piracy
