ok Worm Bigotry Breakdown in more detail for @silverflyingpikachu
tl;dr: author is Cishet White Guy From Canada In 2011. he ostensibly thinks he is progressive. this does not change his proclivity for tossing his Cishet White Guy From Canada Biases into the books and then saying even more bigoted things in defense of those writing decisions on forums. wildbow is just some cunt on the forums with bad opinions on wildbow's writing. the book is 1.7 million words long but i believe in my ability 2 categorize this shit with decent accuracy. everyone who has ever said worm's CWs can't be categorized, including wildbow himself, is a lying ass bitch. this will include some vague spoilers, because i can't really go in-depth without a few examples, but i'll stay away from anything too plot-critical.
racism:
- worm is fundamentally a book abt systems of power and the ways in which they suck. some of the critiques worm issues--e.g, its depiction of how school systems enable bullying, inspired by wildbow's own experiences w/ the school systems as a deaf kid--are viscerally accurate and incredibly compelling. but wildbow fundamentally doesn't understand how certain systems of oppression work--e.g policing--and subsequently, his attempts at depicting them occasionally fall flat onto their face and land in racist territory. this gets particularly nasty when combined w/ the White Guy Author propensity for racist stereotypes--for example, his chosen face of police brutality is a black girl portrayed as predatory & animalistic.
- who is also one of the only black people in the book overall, alongside--for example--an addict portrayed as having less interiority & being less deserving of empathy than A Literal Fucking Nazi. also, the main characters have to team up with the nazis "for the greater good" (defeating the mean asian villains) at one point. it is a mercy to the readers when this part of the story ends. - there are two black characters in the main cast. for the first, wildbow just Straight Up Forgot to include the most compelling aspect of their background + characterization in the text (it was provided via WoG instead, which i provide to all wormreaders like a fuckin' DLC patch when they get to where it's relevant) & entirely forgets they exist towards where the end of their character arc should have been. the second is introduced w/ the most misogynoiristic description on the planet but blessedly has a largely compelling and well-written arc as the book goes on. - depiction of china is just like. fox news level sinophobic "it's all a brainwashed indistinguishable evil cult" shit. not relevant for very long relatively speaking but insufferable to read. asian characters are also like. we got Brutal Yet Honorable Asian Man. we got Fiery Asian Girl With Blue Eyes. it fucking blows it's not good
- oh yeah forgot this one someone mentioned in the tags. #it's an insignificant paragraph and nobody talks about it but the part where it goes #“yeah literally EVERY cape in South America is with a cartel and the heroes are barely distinguishable from the villains” #fuck you #not that the others aren't bad the fatphobia gets really gross but nobody mentions this and that one got me so yeah typical Insufferable Awful Imperial Core Author Understanding Of What Other Countries Are Like - i could make this section one million bulletpoints long but the gist is summarized i think--wildbow's varied racist biases leak fucking everywhere, into character design, into narrative assumptions about who's deserving of interiority/empathy or not, into attempts at Saying Anything About Society, into which characters he prioritizes, into who he offers validity via the narrative, etc etc etc.
homophobia: - theres a girl named amy dallon in it and she is the worst lesbophobic stereotype ever known to man. no other Problematic Lesbian™ you can think of has anything on this girl. the worst part is that she genuinely has a decently compelling character concept and arc, which her being awful is integral to, so you might accidentally find her interesting anyway and then she'll move into your brain - wildbow kept accidentally writing characters that scan as massive dykes and then got really mad about f/f ships for the book being popular in the fandom. he responded by making a deranged forum post involving the phrase "pandering is pandering" insisting everyone (but the bisexual "hedonist") is straight and writing a scene into the book where one of the characters literally turns to the camera and tells the readers "not to get the wrong idea" about her hugging her friend. - over the course of 1.7 million words he finds excuses to loudly inform you that all of the relevant female characters are straight and it's sooo shoehorned in you can always tell when he's doing it - basically worm is like if naruto was about homoerotic teenage girls who do violent terrible things, in terms of levels of unintentional homoeroticism, and the author responds to ppl going "lmao gay" about the unintentional homoeroticism with poorly restrained seething rage
fatphobia: - generic brand of fatphobia you'll see in p much all mainstream media where only side/bg characters are fat and it's obliquely used as a descriptor to indicate that someone has negative personality traits or should be viewed as sort of gross
anti-addict shit: - wildbow generally likes writing about how social circumstances--i.e neglect from society, oppression, failure on behalf of systems--causes crime. he generally likes demonstrating the ways in which the villainous main characters are traumatized teenagers failed by society fumbling to keep existing & holding each other up through The Horrors. unfortunately all of this intelligent writing flies out the nearest window when addicts are involved. there is a gang comprised entirely of addicts, all of whom are portrayed as disgusting, violent, dangerous, and of course often racially stereotyped. it is a mercy to the readers when they're no longer relevant to the story. - on a more subtle level, characters are every so often just like. a little more anti-drug than they would realistically be and you can tell it's wildbow's opinions leaking into their characterization. this is largely what the anti-addict writing is kept to after The Addict Villains leave the story iirc.
if youre wondering wellwhy does anyone read this book then. to that i would say that unfortunately despite it all it'sa fucking excellent book. so we all carry on reading the parts that suck and thinking about how they suck and then reading the parts that fuck and going "ouuugh my god" and rolling down 20 flights of stairs about how hard they fuck.

I finished ToA not long ago and I wanted to write down some thoughts/scenes that stick with me
(in chronological (ish) order, watch out for spoilers)
Theres an italian girl at camp ! It means Nico gets to practice and speak italian ! (which probably haven't happened in about 70 years)
Will introducing Nico as "my boyfriend". I already knew they would be canon, but reading that line felt weird /pos
Apollo sees Solangelo and think of himself and Hyacinth
That night when Kayla and Austin disappeared and Apollo left to look for them, it probably was the first night Will ever spent alone in his cabin
Apollo's insane body dysmorphia. He's a god, he can always take the physical form he is the most comfortable and confident in... Until now. He is stuck in a body that isn't his, he feels ashamed, when he sees certain traits in others he find them charming or pretty, but when it's on him then it's disgusting. He complain that everything is this body's fault (ex. he wouldn't have been touched by the Eurynomos if it wasn't for his chub.)(I could go on for hours)
Lityerses ! I love that guy. Idk why i love him that much. He is my best guy.
Apollo's reaction to Commodus' name. His flashback of him. So painful he was physically sick.
Apollo talking Helios out of killing them, because he just want to be free, not to hurt them.
APOLLO ATTEMPT TO KHS TO STOP THEM ?? IM A SUCKER FOR SOME GOOD PAINFUL SELF SACRIFICE.
Jason. I'm not talking about Jason. I can't speak about Jason.
Frank and Apollo ! They are so fond of each other !!!
Apollo heard all of Frank's prayers when he was unclaimed and wished he could've adopted him.
And Frank respecting Apollo as a god although he is *vaguely gesture at Apollo/Lester*
Reyna saying aloud that she doesn't want nor needs romance. It's so rare to see aromantic representation and Rick did it so well.
Literally Apollo singing his way out of situations.
FRANK'S SELF SACRIFICE!!! (He already had one of my favorite character development before that)
APOLLO KILLING COMMODUS ??? why do never talk about that it's one of the best deaths I've ever seen that was BADASS AND FULL OF EMOTIONS.
Apollo slowly dying out of poison and the Dodona Arrow doing everything it can to keep him conscious.
I hope Dakota didn't get killed off just to give Lavinia the role of Centurion. I love my boy Dakota, and his death felt kind of meaningless, except for her rank up :/ also i feel like it doesn't suit Lavinia. Some ppl are strong and good and trustable but just not made to order others. (ill prop make a full post about that)
Dionysos confirmed to be an annoying little brother!
Nico. How does Rick manage to always give him more issues. Leave the kid alone.
When Will glows, Apollo is genuinely impressed and tells him how proud he is.
Nico destroying Nero's door with his giant zombie bull. That was cool.
When Apollo gets stabbed in Nero's tower and think it's the end, he prays "Zeus, Artemis, Leto, anyone"
And in general the few parts he talks about Leto, he's such a momma's boy and I love it.
When Apollo left for Delphi... I was fully expecting Meg to go with him. I was so worried that he went alone while already feeling that weakened from the previous events.
DODONA ARROW. FOREVER IN MY HEART.
Artemis is here when Apollo wakes up. She's by his side, she's the first person to tell him he succeeded, she hold him while he sobs...
The first thing he does is to greet his horses :) and then to see his friends.
When he gets back to the Dodona bush ! To tell them all how brave and heroic the Arrow have been !
I could spend hours talking about the character developments of Apollo, Meg and the Dodona Arrow (i love the arrow so much you have no idea) but its for another day
There's many things I didn't talk about, but the post is already long enough. I love those 5 books, and Apollo is an amazing narrator.
I love the Arrow of Dodona with all my heart.

why the pjo tv changes help translate ideas from book to screen using hubris and loyalty as an example [spoilers!]
percy's big thing - his shaping quality and fatal flaw - is loyalty. we know this. and how is it shown in the show?
by having percy self sacrifice just to save his friend, at the cost of death. i mean, that is loyalty in its purest form, and this is a scene thats not included in the books right? like percy never goes out of his way to lock annabeth and grover out because theres a never a need to.
we already know percy's self sacrificing tendencies that stem from his loyalty. through internal monologue. not in the show. theres no internal monologue, and this addition so easily creates more emotional payoff and turmoil, but shows to the audience, percy is a loyal peson. he would die for his friends.
for annabeth, she offers to do the one thing she would hate-- ask her mother for help, directly corelating to her hubris. her pride would never let her. this isn't showing us her pride, because we've been led to believe that she would never ask for help because she literally refused to last episode.
so this shows us how this relationship between the characters is growing. annabeth is willing to ask for help to save her friends- her hubris has a limit. she won't kill someone for it-- or maybe she would? maybe she just doesn't want percy to die because of her pride. that tells us something very important.
the friendship between percy and annabeth is nowhere near what it was when the show started, and none of this growth was told to us.
this show is so good.

Game/movie/anime/show/manga/manhua/manhwa/novel/other book characters in pjo and slapping a godly parent on them +reasoning +in universe claiming +possible tumblr username(s) I might make into reality
Kaveh (Game: Genshin Impact)
Athena kid
Hes an architect literally graduated with an honors degree in architecture. DESIGNED A PALACE burnt out gay gifted kid frfr drowns sorrows in alcohol, no will to live
in universe respects the gods and makes a bunch of designs for athena to please her didn’t take long for him to get claimed after the designing a whole palace thing full time camper bc it means no alhaitham to boss him around. misses alhaitham though.
“Ah the palace is designed now-“ *sees the athena symbol above him* “What the fuck?”
Possible @: lost-my-keys-again, best-blonde-architect (sorry annabeth but he has a bit of an ego), every-building-made-with-pride, art-architect-athena, light-of-kshahrewar-and-athena, kaveh-the-architect, designing-takes-my-will-to-live
Tumblr media
Maomao (Anime/Manga/Novel: Apothecary Diaries)
Apollo kid, Shennong legacy
shes an apothecary thats immune to most poisons bc she tested on herself to build immunity. can detect what type of poison she consumes or smells, can cure it, has a lot of medical knowledge, acts almost catlike. blessed by aphrodite possibly she was raised in a brothel and canonically has a pretty face. she paints on freckles with clay so she doesn't get kidnapped bc in old chinese times they did that- impassive, negative opinion of love. only thing she got from apollo was healing- apollo the genes are not strong with you this time- miss girl got kidnapped and sold to the imperial palace. now she serves under imperial concubines as the taste tester so they wont eat poison(holy shit i ranted about her a lot i love this anime-)
in universe probably disregards the gods until physical solid proof was shown aka apollo physically having to pick her up from the palace she worked at. she hissed and scratched to stay but plopped into camp half blood part time camper bc Sun Wukong does occasionally kidnap her to take her back to the palace. apollo only claimed her bc he realized the famous palace poison tester is his and fucking sprinted to make sure his kid is still alive went like
Sun Wukong:Oh and theres this poison crazy girl in the palace and i think i saw a hint of the sun in her but anyways she willingly eats poison Apollo:… THATS MY FUCKING KID OH GODS TAKE ME TO HER RIGHT NOW- *fucking busts in the door, apollo symbol, snatches and runs* Maomao: Give me a break already-
Possible @: poisoned-daughter-of-apollo, apollos-apothecary-daughter, cat-of-poisons-and-of-apollo, give-me-poison-please, maomao-is-poisoned, poison-for-the-sun-child
Tumblr media
Penelope Eckheart (Manhwa/Novel: Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess/Villains are Destined to Die)
SPOILER????-Its a toss up on Hecate or Zagreus- She died and reincarnated over hundreds of times (point to Zag) in the original game in the story literally all you do is die as penelope. But Penelope has a shattered soul and a part of that soul was in the modern day and when it dies or something like that she was reincarnated/isekai’d as Penelope because she originally was Penelope well her shattered soul is. On the other hand Penelope is descendent of ancient wizards and possesses ancient magic (Hecate point) BUT THE DYING AND REVIVING IS SO ZAGREUS- MISS MAAM PENELOPE ECKHEART OF THE DUTCHY PLEASE BE SIMPLE IN THIS CATEGORY FOR ONCE probably Zagreus kid, Hecate legacy more that i think about it.
in universe probably didnt believe in gods because she lived a shitty life in the dutchy until one death where she met zag (if we go the zagreus route) or met hecate after discovering her magic (hecate route) if we did go the zag route he’ll make it up to her by spoiling her and calling her jewel, precious, ect. full time camper, the dutchy doesnt know where she is. She would like to keep it that way
Zag route: *penelope in the underworld again but this time zagreus sees her soul reviving* holy shit youre one of mine- Pene:WHAT???/Hecate route: *sees she has proficiency in magic, ancient power too* ah you must be one of mine. Pene:…Excuse me…?
Possible @: revived-daughter-of-hecate(zagreus), mad-dog-of-hecate(zagreus), lady-eckheart-of-hecate(zagreus), lady-penelope-of-hecate(zagreus), magical-mad-dog, jewel-of-blood (Zagreus route), jewel-of-magic (hecate route)
Tumblr media
Rapunzel (Tangled: Movie and Show)
Apollo kid
Healing, music, HER POWER COMES FROM A SUN DROP FLOWER like ik she got it from the flower but like, who said apollo didn't like the queen? (THE QUEEN WAS HOT TO ME OK????)
In universe never knew about gods, Mother Gothel never taught them. when she got out of the tower Apollo gave her many books to read up on them, mostly him. Apollos pissed Gothel kidnapped his baby. Year round camper, kids love braiding her hair, everyone lights lanterns on her birthday as tradition, Kingdom of Corona, Apollo is not sorry, Rapunzels mom was hot and he had a slice, his kid now. She already had musical shit before the flower and now the flower enhanced her healing factor, WHICH IS ACTIVATED BY MUSIC
Apollo: *sees singing and glowing healing hair from a tower* Is that...? *squint* THATS MY BABY- DONT WORRY BABY DADDYS COMING Rapunzel: I have a dad???? *cue tussle for custody, cursed Gothel, bada bing bada boom camp*
Possible @: hair-and-healing, kidnapped-sun-baby, sun-drop-sun-child, flower-of-apollo, sun-drop-flower-child, sun-princess-rapunzel, rapunzels-healing-hair
Tumblr media
Flynn Rider (Tangled: Movie and Show)
Hermes kid
Thievery, trickery, wit, athleticism IF HE WAS ABLE TO CLIMB THAT TOWER WITHOUT RAPUNZEL, HES A STRONG ATHLETIC BOY, the works
In universe probably doesn't worship the gods nor know they actually exist, like he read about them but he didn't believe because if they existed, why was his life full of misery? Plopped into camp the same time as Rapunzel bc Hermes called Apollo bc he already was picking up Rapunzel and went "Hey can you get my kid too? Great thanks" Year rounder. Steals shit.
He probably got claimed when he was sneaking into the castle to steal the crown Hermes:THATS MY BOY
Possible @: get-my-dam-nose-right, thief-of-the-sun, crown-stealer, dont-break-my-smolder, hottest-son-of-hermes

I haven't read TVA yet and was wondering how exactly it treated Armand's origins. I didn't expect it would be this bad. I'm dreading it now, cause I know I'll be so mad at all the ignorance. Why did she even go there if she wasn't going to do basic research? "Oh, let me take this foreign region I know nothing about and treat its geography and history like my own personal headcanon". God, Anne, I love your characters and your philosophy, but sometimes you really test me.
On the other hand it makes me happy that we got Assad and the show will probably have a different story of Armand's roots, hopefully done with more research and care.
Okay this contrains spoilers from TVA i guess
I mean, it's like you know. You read it and you feel like time and place doesn't really matter. First of all, I can't really tell, I don't know a lot about orthodox church, i can tell you dates of Major events in It, like some basic things i reaserched once for school. My knowlegde Is based on Wikipedia, what i learned in school, and some Russia literature (but like from XIX century so that's not helping)
But well Its treaded very poorly. Like of course its described as Its cold, a lot of snow, vert dark and poor. That's whole description of place. It fell It happens in the North, liké you know, Taiga. First thing you Imagine when you here Sibir (well also not entirely accurate for that region but you know what I mean), when in reality Kiev is located nearer the Eurasian steppe (or on that area im not sure) but the climate there is different lol. Like no way It was all covered in snow during fucking easter, i know, wheather abominations are thé thing (like this year there were days in early April it was so hot we went swimming, and that's not normal) but come on, that's not normal.
Another thing, whole backstory of Armand with creating icons. Like first of all, icons are written not painted (that might be fault of translation, or English terminology tho, I'm not an expert). I don't know a lot of the process, like one video make by monk who creates them, but the whole process in the book is described like i feel somethings wrong. But well its kinda weird, all of this monastery experience Is Just weird like, no way. But i Simply dont know enough to talk about (and suprisingly probalby more than the author, which Is funny liké girl, learn about what you're writing).
There was also a moment when easter eggs are treaded liké It was some very big treasure. Priceless thing. And again im not orthodox i dont know of their traditions, but if feels exagérated a little bit. I know It was diffent time, and Place and mentality and all. But we like eat them. Decorate, take to church and then eat for easter breakfast (catholics, Poland) and i dont think orthodox churxh is vert different, i can try to talk to friends who have orthodox family but well what else would you do with that. So the Moment Armand keeps the egg he got front his mother Its liké okay, She could do that, but Armand bestie its a fucking egg. Normal boiled egg, its gonna expire before you even go back to Venice. What was the idea to keep It. Liké that doesnt make any sens.
I understand like cultural or historical inaccuracies, but knowlegde about the fact that you can't keep an egg forever Is common knowlegde lol.
And theres not much more to say simply because the Field Is not further explored (for better in this case i believe). He could as well come from Sweden, or Spain, or Greece or whatever Place. Like all of the baxkstories with historical setting are written like they Can happen in any place and any time, because the setting isn't determining anything really.
What id liké to mention that this orthodox/bisanthin (I'm not sure about the word) art is some kind of obscure and cold. Like Have you ever seeen It??? Its so beautifull and all Golden, decorated and i just love It. Liké guess more accurate would be set the story a century later, in some empty protestant temple lol.
But yeah im sooooo excited about what show will do with Armands backstory. They Always do a good work so i know they wont dissapoint me.
And yeah im kinda sad in the same time, they didnt keep the original (with fixing It off, because Jesus Christ, what Is this), because i would be nice to explore the region and orthodox culture which is so fascinanting. (cossak armand just a hundread year and we couldve had it all It would be soo cool)

✶ book review! - before the coffee gets cold
my views and opinions, if you genuinely want to know more about the book this isn't the best place
spoilers below!
- the lovers; it was really hard to get trough personally and I didn't finish it so I wont comment on it
- husband and wife; I really liked it to be honest, I guess the idea of unconditional love really got to me. "even when he doesn't remember me as his wife, I'll be by his side as a caretaker" when is it gonna be my turn to experience this type of love. I really like the convo they had when Kohtake went back to see Fusagi, I actually shed a couple tears. The way Fusagi is always cold towards others and has a strong personality yet he was so soft in that convo?? And the way Kohtake was reassuring him that he'll recover even tho both of them know that's a lie??? Please someone give me a love story like Fusagi and Kohtake. I could go on and on about this chapter tbh, fav chapter of the four. 5/5
- the sisters; also shed a couple tears to this one. As the older sibling with an annoying little sister it made me wanna sob about how mean i am to her sometimes. Also watching Hirai cope with Kumi's death and to see how she changed because of it was fascinating and lowkey heartbreaking. 4/5
- mother and child; see i can't really relate to this one and I did kainda rush trough it but Kei being like "I'm sorry that the only thing I gave you as a mother was life" actually broke me. When she and Miki met I did shed a couple tears at their convo. And also how concerned Nagare was and how he wanted to take care of his wife was nice to see, genuinely such a lovely chapter. Theres really nothing like the love a mother has for her child. The chapter did seem kainda confusing and unfinished in a way? Like something was missing but maybe thats just me idk. 3/5
- overall; I really enjoyed it! I would reread it (and actually try to get trough the first chapter). I really love the idea of the time traveling cafe and how thought out the rules are. The world building is pretty good. Some of the descriptions of the characters are a bit wierd but maybe that's cuz of the translation to english. Overall I'd rate it a solid 4/5 stars. Some parts seemed dragged out or unfinished which could very well just be me seeing it that way cuz of the way the chapters are connected. Some things didn't really make sense and we didn't get answers on some things but that's okay tbh it's still a pretty good book. It's a quick and easy read if you like time travel and a cozy atmosphere. 4/5
- yours truly

Remember that I told you back then they were very similar? I thought it was just me maybe, that I was nuts (not that I give a damn to be perceived as nuts XD) But theres two of us comparing already...
More parallels:
Iconic Hot doe eyed and blue eyed redheaded girls whose wardrobe Its my literal dream inspo outfits...And Who does regrettable choices many times specially romantically and involving Sam's characters ✓
Black characters Who deserve the best of the whole world and a mug of Hot chocolate for the test of their patience during the show ✓
Hot blonde girl Who takes no shit and fucks Up too ✓
Brunette female characters (Orla and Camilla) Who deserve the world and play mother hen for the rest but just get shit as a reward...✓✓
Sam playing perfectly a Hot messy complicated man ✓✓✓ 💯 (albeit Billy isn't Jack AT ALL, I mean ... I LOVE Billy, he IS complex and nuanced and incredibly Deep and romantic...and super frustating all at once, while Jack...Lets just say that I LOVE Sam Claflin a lot , okay? XD The asshole characters i've got to deal with / to bear to watch because of him...Thats true love! )
Theres another parallel too But Its spoilery spoiler so when you @mzannthropy end White Heat series tell me and i'll post It here too , youll get It when you finish It 😅
****Update with spoilers : @mzannthropy
The tough blonde chick Who aborts and then doesn't have a family after ✓
The redhead raising her daughter pretty much alone✓✓✓...
Though in WH It was messier than in Djats, Daisy's daughter IS Only hers not Billy's , while Charlotte's daughter (she was named Emma?? I dont remember It well 😅) was Jacks!!! she didn't fucking inform him nor Víctor, like??? Super fucked up girl, he deserved to know from the get go??!!...that IS so not okay🤬... Thank God they didn't do that in Djats, though... It would've made Djats deliciously wicked and messed Up 🤣😅)
The asshole hottie boy (my poor Billy way less problematic than Jack but you know...both ere played by our Sam so...) Whose main redemption IS being a good dad, Billy and Julia were EVERYTHING ♥️ and I hate to admit It but Jack looked super cute with his baby, lets be honest.
The mother hens brunettes Who care about everyone and are too good for this world bbut Who doesn't get anything in return (Orla and Camila were super similar personality wise I headcanon that in a crossover they would be besties tbh) that end Up dying way too fucking soon😡🤬 ✓✓✓💯🙄😤😠.
I watched this series like two weeks after watching Djats, I didnt watch It in 2012 , but in 2023...So while watching I kind of was expecting the Dead one to be Orla...Just because It was what was more similar to Djats: the least deserving one being the Dead one...And I nailed It 🤣😭😅.
End of update *****
And let's not forget the narrative Its the same : Characters remembering and telling so we see them being Young and old. On White Heat Its done with different actors, which I kind of think works better, though , I wouldn't trade older Hot Widow Rockstar Billy on the tiny interview bits for anything, like i wanted him to look like that (but with wavy /curly hair) for the entire show!!!! he looked 🥵🔥 and way better than in the 70's.
Also White Heat was made in 2012/2013? Its waaayyyy older than both DJATS book (2019) & Show (2023), just saying....Coincidence? i think not ...Its as if she made her Fleetwood Mac fanfic book mixing it with this series tbh😏👀
I LOVE both shows, dont get me wrong , I like djats better for the music tbh, but....They are too similar for it to be unnoticed
My new crazy theory (I have lots XD) Its that 🥁.... Sam was casted as Billy on Djats not Only for his awesome audition, but because the author secretly based Billy on White Heat's Jack looks wise (aka Sam Claflin), but making him an okayish character (not the utter trash that Jack IS) , so they went "Lets cast him again and Hope no one notices" XD
But we did!!!! 👏
Yeah so I just reblogged some White Heat gifs... still one episode to go, I want to say, how the heck did Sam never mention this series during all the press for DJATS. The similarities are staggering.

MR TELEPHONE MAN ୨୧ ₊˚.༄ lucas‎ sinclair x reader blurb
Tumblr media
byr: female reader, fluff!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“there’s something wrong with my line!” lucas screeched, letting the entirety of maple street hear. he had started pacing around in his kitchen like a bullet (or well - pacing around as much as one could while holding a wall attached phone.) after punching in his thirteenth try.
yes, thats right. it was his thirteenth time trying to reach your household. you were giving the cold shoulder and for good reason too! yesterday was your ‘1 year of dating’ anniversary. and he. had. forgotten. and no calls, no planned meet-ups, no holding a boombox outside your window as it played your favourite mutual love song. this had left you feeling miserable and mopey in your room; ultimately ignoring him. of course, though, this was unbeknownst to lucas.
“lucas dear...don't you think you should give it a break? our phone bill doesn't pay it self you know." mrs sinclair leaned on the wall, watching her worried son. "no mom, you don't get it! me and y/n specifically planned to call today...but the call never goes through! there's gotta be something wrong with the telephone." lucas whined.
erica snorted while eating her chocolate sundae that she had acquired from god-knows where. "sooo...you think because y/n's not answering, our phone is broken?" "yes! when i dial y/n's number, i get a click everytime. that isn't normal." now erica laughed loudly, "for a nerd you are pretty stupid."
lucas' dark eyebrow quirked. "she obviously doesn't wanna talk to you!…t’s just the facts." erica tried to explain. "what?! no way. why wouldn't she wanna talk to me. i mean we planned to call today at 5pm! so there is no reason for her not to answer!" he started to nervously ramble. did you really not wanna speak to him? "and when exactly did you plan this?” erica questioned. "3 days ago!"
"well suprise suprise, maybe you did some typical idiotic thing to make her mad at you within those 3 days." erica sounded unamused. "what?? but i haven’t even spoken to her in the past 3 days! theres nothing i could've possibly done to..." lucas' trailed off, his eyes widening as he felt his mouth go dry. "oh god, no no no." he immediately left the family phone hanging to his mothers distaste and ran to the house calender.
and there in all its big, bold, glory with a big fat heart circled around it was 'me & y/n's 1 year anniversary! lucas bit his lip. "oh shit. oh shit fuck!” "fuck. i am such a bad boyfriend." erica sighed from behind him, reading the calender alongside. "you need to stop with the obscenities..but yeah, you are." "no.. no, no! i've still got time to make this right. i'm going to y/n's house! tell mom for me!" lucas shouted before running outside and getting onto his bike eventually following the path of your house.
"i'm not gonna tell mom that!" erica stuck her tounge out as she walked back to her ice-cream.
you rolled your eyes as you flipped to the 'celebrity it couples' page from a random teen magazine you had laying around your room. there were a huge pile of books on your bed - all that you had attempted to read earlier - making it hard to move around. you figured that filling your mind with literature and celebrity drama while madonna played in the background would lift your mood and somehow distract you. spoiler alert, it didn’t.
you sighed as you realised the last time the phone rang was about 10 minutes ago.. did this mean lucas didn't care about you any more? did he forget about you just like how he forgot your anniversary? surely he knew it was your anniversary... but then why didn't he say anything about it yesterday? hell you guys didn't even see eachother yesterd-
the overthinking that clouded your brain suddenly evaporated as you heard the doorbell ring. you remained still for a second.. this was your way of checking to see who it is. then suddenly you heard more faster & obnoxious door knocks. you groaned, yep it's lucas. and you know what... this time, i am not going to ignore it!
as you left your room, you felt anew. you slammed your door like you just-had-a-fight-with-your-parents-in-a-dramatic-teen-show and you stomped into your foyer. you swung open the fromt door, prepared to give lucas a verbal ass-whooping.
"sinclair, you—!" but before you could get an insult in you were interrupted, by a pair of all too familiar lips coming contact with your own. you gasped in surprise and lucas used this as a way to deepen the kiss he started; reaching up to hold your face gently with his palm.
you felt blood rush up your neck and onto your face as you realised what was happening. you kissed back, finally relaxing. your lips moved together sweetly before lucas finally pulled away, leaving your lips & cheeks a red hue, his hand still resting on your face.
there was about a 5 second silence before lucas sheepishly smiled. "that was to shut you up." you felt your past anger surge back as you smacked lucas' hands away causing him to giggle. “y’know you’ve got a lot of nerve-“ you started,“wait – wait! let me speak first.” lucas pleaded. you gave him an unimpressed look, yet you said nothing and lucas took this as his green light to go.
“okay first of all, i know. and second of all, i am so so sorry. it was our 1 year anniversary yesterday and i completely forgot - like a total jack-ass! and you don’t need to forgive me, but just know that i promise – no - i swear that i will make it up to you. starting... right now!" and after that he immediately lunged forward and pulled you in his arms. he attacked your face with little fairy kisses ranging from your forehead to your nose to your neck.
you giggled, bathing in the kisses. "yeah, alright sinclair, but it’s gonna take a lot more than a few kisses!” “okay, deal.” he’d smile, relieved.

just finished reading sky and here are som of my thoughts <3 probably a lot so . yeah . spoilers for sky obviously
am i the only one who finds frostpaw and splashtail's relationship weird. because is splashtail not, like, a grown man. a full warrior. and is frostpaw not, like, what, 7 moons old? 8 at the latest? of course they arent mates but am i the only one who finds that weird because i feel like im the only person talking about it. hell i even saw one person say they thought it was cute. maybe its just me
also frostpaw's whole thing at the moonpool when she's trying to reach starclan and being liek "maybe i should be a warrior apprentice instead. that way i can become mates with splashtail and i can be happy with him and we can become mates and have kits together and ill name one of them after my mother" and i just...... eughh...? i mean i think it'd be so much more gross if splashtail was the one talking about being mates with frostpaw, a child, and sure it could just be written off as a silly kid crush where she isn't actually being serious about it but... y'know... the erins are weird like that...
also. not a big fan of how sunbeam was written because it feel like for the whole book she's just being such a lil bitch to lightleap and lightleap is being nothing but nice to her. rowankit DIES and sunbeam is like "oh well at least blazefire, an adult who has much higher chances of surviving greencough (or whitecough, whichever one it was) than a kit, survived". and then not comforting lightleap and like SEETHING when she even so much as SEES blazefire and lightleap... sitting next to each other???? it could just be that i havent read river in a while but genuinely i dont get why she's so sour towards lightleap and blazefire all of a sudden. i get lightleap was reckless, injuring both sunbeam and blazefire and even confining blazefire to the medicine den for some time, but... as far as i remember, that was it??? idk man.
also the... the whole... "clan-swapping" and "clan-swapper" thing. im sorry but berryheart's whole posse of people against "inter-clan relationships" (which is what they call it in the book) really just. uhh. doesnt sit well with me? all of them saying that fringewhisker of skyclan brought greencough to their camp and them saying that "clan-swapping" should have never been allowed since fringewhisker bringing the sickness to shadowclan led to rowankit's death genuinely reads to me like they're the kind of people to think that people from china brought covid-19 to the u.s.
also also i.... really don't like nightheart that much in this book. im sorry i think he was great in the previous book though a bit, yknow, angsty, but i feel like in this book it must have been written by a different author because he's nothing BUT angst now. sure in the last book he was edgy but that could totally be seen as him being edgy because, y'know, he had a reason to be edgy. and angsty and upset. he failed his warrior assessment 3 times. of COURSE you'd be embarrassed and upset and angsty about it all. but idk, in sky it just seems like he's angsty about. really nothing besides "oh my grandma squirrelflight is making me do APPRENTICE DUTIES because theres NO APPRENTICES IN THUNDERCLAN RIGHT NOW. i guess ill just be STUCK DOING APPRENTICE DUTIES for the REST OF MY LIFE!!!!!" n its like dude....... chiiiiiill.....
frostpaw though is probably my favorite character so far but i don't know, something was just off about how she was written. somethnig was just OFF about this book in general, it very much seemed like it was written by someone who wasnt familiar with the characters of the previous book and accentuated their personalities to the point where they're all just one-note now. nightheart is angsty. sunbeam is selfish. frostpaw is............i dont really know acutlaly SJDKKJG but. i do like frostpaw's pov the best but mostly because i just really want to see what happens. little baby frostpaw, as far as we know, doesn't have a connection to starclan and riverclan is just in SHAMBLES becauyse of it. but i just love that. i hate the whole "we can't tell any clan about this" thing though, but ig that just comes from a pacing standpoint. i never liked it in media in general when something happens n characters are like "we cant tell anyone about this or else we'll be seen as weak" or something.
though the confrontation at the gathering between the leaders (mostly tigerstar n leafstar) and owlnose is really funny SKJDKJJKG i like it when tigerstar is like "....so reedwhisker became leader and then got sick and all of his lives were just taken away like that? he got greencough so bad it killed all 9 of his lives?" and owlnose is liek "it was REALLY bad-" idk thats just funny. this book does have a few funny things in it . i laughed a coupl times JKSDLKJJKG...
but uhhhhhhhhhh overall i think this book was. uh. interesting, to say the least. looking forward to the next book though :]

i just finished the new DHMIS series (season?) and it's SO SO GOOD but im also. losing my mind over the fact they STILL dont have names.
(spoilers ahead)
like what do you mean theres a tv show of a clump that shares a lawyer, where every episode is a series of events of them being traumatized beyond belief packaged as a haha funny show but as it unravels bit by bit you can tell theres something deeper going on. and then one of the characters gets a new set of batteries (he runs on BATTERIES? but ALSO BLEEDS? we just glance over that though ig) that makes is so it doesn't hurt for him to fuckin think anymore, ends up finding a woman in their attic named leslie whose actually the puppet master of them all and they arent even real? and she has a fucking collection of spares of them all and THEN its implied that the guy who found her is a replacement for a son she lost?? and she gives him a book of answers but as soon as he gets back to the other two his new batteries are ripped away from him again so he forgets what the book was for and its left on a cliffhanger of them fucking shredding the book while laughing. they were so unknowingly close to the truth but now they'll never know, almost like leslie planned it all out to turn out this way, so that entire thing was just another mind fuck and theyre pretty much back at square one without even trying or knowing, and it may just be impossible for them EVER to get past square one again, like an endless loop that'll never stop and never stop and never stop and never sto
BUT ALSO their names (if you can call them names) are fucking. yellow guy, red guy and DUCK and they only ever refer to each other as "that one". What the Fuck.

AHHHHHHHHHHH
ok I was busy cooking and i couldn't stop to type out thoughts while dealing with raw chicken so there's gonna be a slightly out of order thought dump on what I think is the climax, but theres about 2 hours left so, I'm probably wrong. Whatever, they got the tower back!
Ok first of all, NAVANI, QUEEN! I'm beyond pumped that she bonded the sibling, who better? The way she already understood so much about the tower and the sibling was actually excited about her understanding so much, i hope they get to be nerdy little inventors together. Her just taking charge and cleansing the tower was amazing.
I freaking hate Moash except that I don't and his story is really tragic. Like he is making bad decisions but his ability to feel has been ripped away which doesn't help. Though the crap about not really regreting teft's death is stupid. I think it's really interesting that he's blind and i'm curious if we'll have a permanently disabled character at this point. Like I love people regrowing limbs cause it's cool but also, not everyone has stormlight you know? disability isn't always inherently something to fix.
Stormfather and Dalinar are making strides and I love that for them, Dalinar does need to learn to work within his bounds and not wreck the stormfather again though. Whatever that crazy herald is doing was spooky and interesting and i want to know more. Plus, leveled up bondsmith powers? Yes. I understand all the half spoilers of Tien maybe being alive though, cause what the freak was that??? Dude what? Maybe he fell into shademar or something? Idk but nothing is a mistake in these and that was a pretty big deal so it better get addressed.
OH and ODIUM. Ok dalinar seemed to do the best he could with the deal so props for that, it's concerning that it's so soon, so either that's happening this book, or, next book is gonna start out sprinting.
Odium is so full of himself though and it's hilarious, like he's super deadly but also, i want to laugh in his face for how much attention he wants. And he's so sure theres gonna be a war, I'm not convinced. So far, all the shards are just doing their own thing. (except ruin but he's fine now)
Rlain, he's spoken for!!! Yes you deserve it, love! I can't believe Renarin sent a spren to him, adorable, but also, can they have a conversation? Is that all we're getting? Oh and him taking charge? YES. Bridge 4!
OKKKK KALADIN
It took him a while to get to the 4th ideal, and I get why it took so long, but HE DID IT. And him and syl worked together!!! 💛💛💛 And he saved his dad!! and even his brands are healing because he's finally accepting that he's doing his best! (it's actually accurate to draw him without his brands but i only see some-generally modern au- and i feel like it's out of respect for no spoilers and also the top tier character design but we do need some kaladins without brands i guess) Also, I get how teft summoned his blade a little, i thought it was determination but it was him coming to the 4th ideal without time to speak it, or pretty close.
His shard plate just zipping around is sick, and it being made of wind spren is so interesting! Like what is Jasnah's made out of? Wind and honor are close but i can't see Ink being chill with wind spren. I know Jasnah is cool and I appreciate her fighting, but she's not made for sword and plate like Kaladin is, he just bleeds cool, and epic, and AHHHHHHH
Is that everything?
Oh and Lirin finally accepting his son (before being saved from the fall) was great, I support supportive families.
And the triage that bridge 4 automatically goes into is great, Kal trained them well, no wonder they're generally honor radiants. Though Rlain being a truthwatcher, with a protective spren, is also great and that means he'll be able to heal! even better.
ok I'm done, until I start listening again.
Part 5!
‘He’d be haunting me of course’ 😆
Hesina is throwing down and she’s so right! Also again, if Kaladin was disavowing his parents, he wouldn’t have been spending time with them and care about what they thought. He was just trying to communicate how much war changed him.
Hesinas interlude is the best one hands down. Kaladin is helping people even when he can’t be right there 🥺

Color of Magic spoilers a thoery
Ok. So. Id be lying if i didnt admit that this reread was started mainly bc I encountered Twoflower in Interesting Times and wanted more. So therefore it would be foolish of me to pretend that i am not reading the book with unfair foreknowledge of circumstances that at the time of writing Color of Magic were not even a glimmer in TPrat's eye. So while yes, i know there are inconsistencies in history and lore and that the author himself has admitted to these things with the shrug of someone who doesn't think his audience should be all that bothered as long as they are having fun, i have issue with Twoflower's behavior at the very end and a theory to help me reconcile it. Ok? Here we go.
So Twoflower admits at the edge that he would love to see the worlds in the stars. Not being able to makes him angry. He's a travel buff, i understand that. Him being wanderlusty at the stars is actually rather sweet. Its cute. He wants to see everything. This explains why hes interested in getting on the ship and voyaging... with a way to get back. The men intended for the trip we can assume were going to come back and report about the space below Atuin's tail, but that wasnt explained to our heroes. Twoflower flings himself into endless depths, knowing you can fall forever and land in other places and not get back to see your kids (heard from Tethys who actually suffered that fate and was sad about it) with a "mad" smile on his face.
Now at the point of the writing, he did not have a family, but taking the whole of discworld canon into account at this point in his /life/ he does. And he's not estranged from them or anything, all evidence points to them being pretty fond of each other.
I will accept of course that Twoflower will be Twoflower. He will absolutely leap at the chance to see new things without considering consequences, and if he'd been assured the ship was on a bungie or something and he'd be returned to discworld without trouble then I'd absolutely buy him launching that thing. But there was no such assurance... and not only that, Tethys was deus ex machina'd to Krull along with them, implying buly circumstance that the ship was leaving forever to maybe fond HIS world. I mean i dont know. If nothing else Tethys would be a reminder of what happens when you slip over the edge without a tether. As a final illustration i also want to dwell on that sudden snap of madness. Like the scenario could have been easily manufactured by having the ship on a lead or a return flight calculated on the wall in the prep room, but instead him going crazy was the way we justified this decision. Thats lame, ima say it right here. Twoflower went star crazy to manufacture a drama point for the break between books. Sure, whatever, story.
This is when my theory comes in. Theres no direct evidence of this being true but i can build a bit of a conspiracy about it. We know Fate and The Lady are playing dice over the lives of these adventurers, specifically over Rincewind. We know Fate is pissed about the outcomes and is now determined to kill both boys. So much so that he visits Death to make sure he is there (he isnt btw. He sends Scrapulous bc he knows its not going to work.) Immediately before the launch, The Lady reveals herself to be riding in Convenience Frog(tm) and says she's "visited upon" Twoflower a couple times without his knowing. This just means hes been lucky, which yes...yes he has. But if we also take this to mean that he's a pretty easy vessel for the gods to manipulate we can accept my theory.
At the moment of launch. The very second he gets that weird smile and starts babbling about stars and worlds. He is being puppeted by Fate. They've already escaped his other arrangements for their death (double sacrifice, wizards, arrows, spears, a once-in-a-lifetime magic storm) and are about to escape Krull entirely when Fate grits his teeth in fury, turns over a table and decides to just fling them into space. He reaches through the astral void and sticks a finger in the back of Twoflower's head, activating all those desires for stars and driving him mad for just long enough to do the deed. He wanted to anyway after all, the only thing holding him back was that pesky loyalty bit that tied him to this world and his loved ones (including Rincewind.) Forget himself and off he goes like a windup toy. Twoflower doesn't even realize its happened, but Rincewind can see it on his face just before being dragged after.
And thats my theory to justify what i feel like is an uncharacteristically cruel decision made by a generally kind but excitable man with two daughters waiting for him at home... but since its just a theory and there's no proof i can also go on record saying that was a real dick move by my beloved son and he will be sent to his room just as soon as he returns to the disc.

the cheerleaders
Tumblr media
CW: death, murder, suicide, abortion, sexual assault, statutory rape, substance abuse
this review will have spoilers
ignoring yesterday's late night half ass attempt at a review, heres the cheerleaders! ignore my zoom meeting in the back of that photo lmao.
book: the cheerleaders by kara thomas
synopsis (from goodreads):
there are no more cheerleaders in the town of sunnybrook. first there was the car accident—two girls gone after hitting a tree on a rainy night. not long after, the murders happened. those two girls were killed by the man next door. the police shot him, so no one will ever know why he did it. monica’s sister was the last cheerleader to die. after her suicide, sunnybrook high disbanded the cheer squad. no one wanted to be reminded of the girls they lost. that was five years ago. now the faculty and students at sunnybrook high want to remember the lost cheerleaders. but for monica, it’s not that easy. she just wants to forget. only, monica’s world is starting to unravel. there are the letters in her stepdad’s desk, an unearthed, years-old cell phone, a strange new friend at school. . . . whatever happened five years ago isn’t over. some people in town know more than they’re saying. and somehow monica is at the center of it all. there are no more cheerleaders in sunnybrook, but that doesn’t mean anyone else is safe.
let's take a look at our characters. since the chapters mainly focused on monica's POV with the occasional flashback to jen and a short ginny POV, those are the three i'll discuss.
monica-YA authors have a kink for making their main characters treat their best friends like shit dont they? i mean, monica didnt do anything too terrible but she did kinda ice them out and didn't clue them in on anything. if anyone read my review for what to say next, dont worry, monica is far less bitchy than that main character. there was one annoying moment though where one of her friends was complaining, and monica was like "i really wanted to tell her there were starving kids in Africa right now and to get over it" which was funny because later on in the book jen literally has a moment where her and ethan discuss how stupid it is to say stuff like that. but monica saying that really pissed me off. so to challenge that, i have this quote from perks of being a wallflower "and even if somebody has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that you have what you have" overall i liked her, she could be boring but she was smart and her interactions with others seemed normal enough for a teen. just a plain girl, 7/10
jen-jen's POV was interesting, those few chapters cleared up a lot. like if someone would give monica certain info i doubted, it would then be confirmed within jen's chapters. she was a troubled girl, and yeah i know everyone hates snitches but she shouldve at least told her best friend the reason she hated carly. the fact that julianna wanted to tell her and she just ignored her but then expected julianna to go out of her way to find her? what bullshit. and she was so afraid of losing her friends but made no effort whatsoever to hang on to them. i didnt really feel any of her story resonate with me. im 14 so i mean i can relate to the whole hiding your emotions and feeling like theres no one to vent to, but jen's feelings didnt really put me in my feels??? not sure how to word it. couldnt relate, 5/10
ginny-this bitch is sketchy as fuck. especially after that painful last chapter i had to endure. the fact that she kept her mouth shut about two girls dying to protect her dad yet turned it around to seem like she was doing something good??? and monica was constantly going on and on about how sweet and polite she was like...yeah, because she has shit to hide. i'm glad monica found out the truth though. i'm not at all blaming ginny for her dad being an asshole but she couldve at least done something about it. to go to such lengths to uncover the cheerleader mystery and simultaneously be hiding the death of two cheerleaders from everyone? nope, i dont trust it 4/10
plot-i dont typically go for mysteries when finding something to read but the ending really did throw me for a loop. my one complaint is the step dad though who's name is currently escaping me. for a majority of the book he seemed to very obviously be hiding something and then in one page it's all cleared up just to make the story move along faster. i think his name was tom?? well, tom is not a good guy and if he gets fired, he deserves it. if his step daughter and her creepy friend can solve a five year old murder, tom clearly could've done it. i dont know who in their right mind even let him be involved in the case when he was so closely tied to it, considering he was literally the step father to one of the girls. but aside from him and his involvement suddenly doing a 180, this was a really good mystery! i didnt really care to find out who did it, but there were no continuity errors or anything and i was surprised to learn about brandon. 8/10
writing-not much to comment on, good writing. 9/10
overall-i couldve skipped out on buying this and just checked it out at my local library. actually no, my library didnt have it. but my point is that it's a fun read, not really something worth spending money on though. 7/10
