im still thinkin abt in stars and time, so heres a rant. this is a long one, sooo.....
i didnt spoil anything, but there is like a single spoiler @ the end of the tags
i love ista's gameplay and story, but one thing i especially love is the fact you can tell how much care is put into everything. the fact that theres so many little details in the visuals, that there are parts to each character that isnt technically needed to progress the story, the fact that each character is so complex.... its refreshing, 2 be able to go "yeah, ppl who worked on this rlly cared" even with just playing through one of the games once
idk if anyone else does this, but when i relate 2 a character, i feel emotionally attached 2 them. even if i dont know i relate 2 them. and i love when i relate 2 a character, bc it makes me love the media all the more
it also makes it easier 2 put myself in a characters shoes and understand. like with sif, even tho isat being a video game instead of a tv show helps, i seemed as though i could feel what sif was feeling (def not as extreme, tho)
and even side characters. even tho we didnt get 2 know much abt them (bc, yknow, theyre side characters) they still had personality, and i could relate 2 some
i love how theres so much personality in each character. the main cast is obvious, but i feel like its rare for side characters 2 have almost as much personality as the main characters (or maybe i just stick 2 the same pieces of media lol)
it makes me happy 2 see so much care put into a piece of media :)
ALSO CANON LGBTQ+ CHARACTERS‼️‼️

I’m obsessed with this show and fear a hyperfixation anyways here are my thoughts on every character in the show
Edwin Paine: forever my favorite, even back before the show when I read the comics! I think it’s funny that basically every man in the show wants him? I’m intrigued by his character arc throughout the story regarding his sexuality as despite dying in 1916, he seems to have had time to slowly become more accepting of gay people (I’m guessing in part due to Charles, who is pansexual), to the point where there’s only mild internalized homophobia if at all, which just exhibits itself in him denying any possible feelings for Monty. I love how face-value and logical he is while still being a sweetheart
Charles Rowland: he has a pan flag pin on his jacket which confuses me bc can ghosts only wear clothes they would’ve worn when they were alive, or how do ghost clothes work? Because he died in 1989 and I’m near positive he didn’t wear that pin back there. Anyways I do love him but I wonder about some design choices, like the one earring (not sure why it just kinda annoys me). That was more a rant abt his design than his character, which I have nothing notable to say abt since I LOVE HIM he’s so real
Crystal Palace: sometimes she was a bit annoying the way she was trying way too hard to pry into everyone’s lives, but honestly that was just momentary annoyance since nothing could make me hate her. I love how her past was slowly revealed (as someone who already knew it from the comics) and how she came to terms with the person she used to be vs the person she is now. She’s so cool!
David the demon: honestly kind of caught me off guard at first bc the person I’m dating is named David but I actually enjoyed his character. LOVED when Crystal dealt with him in the end. He was very interesting
Niko Sasaki: I love Niko, but I have some problems with her character. First of all, I feel like ditsy anime-loving cutesy Asian girl with dyed hair is a weirdly common trope? But whatever my main issue is that it feels like characters who normalize the fetishization of gay men are so common. Like if Niko had been a guy obsessed with lesbian manga evb would be weirded out, so why is it different? If we ignore all of this tho I absolutely adore her and I’m actually praying she’s in the next season bc she was one of my favorites (esp her relationship w Edwin)
Jenny: She is so hot and cool and funny I’m in love with her
Esther: oh my god words cannot come close to describing how much I love her character. She felt powerless and weak in the past and now she’s become obsessed with making sure nobody has that power over her ever again. She was so fun and I loved her attitude! I’m sure she won’t show up next season, as she was the main antagonist of s1, and while I love her, I kind of hope she doesn’t since I think her arc was finished.
Monty: His personality was like 2020 “soft boy” who acts nice and dumb but is lowkey a manipulator. So obviously this kind of made me like ☠️ bc why is he acting like that… but I still love him to bits because he’s just a crow guys he didn’t ask to be human,, Anyways yeah his personality annoys me but also I love him so much so? It’s confusing. ITS COMPLICATED. I will cry if he’s not in s2
Kingham and Litty: I honestly thought they were annoying but I can’t lie they were so fucking funny. Every time they were on screen I laughed.
Cat King: oh my god. He is so camp. I love him. There’s honestly not much to say he is simply iconic. Love how he’s afraid to be alone so chases after other people, he’s so real AGHH I love him
Night Nurse: Ruth Connell the woman you are… 😍 she reminds me of Muriel from Good Omens, in a way, and I love her! I really hope we get to see more of her in relation to the guy in the fish, and see her get to better understand human emotions and why they choose to cling onto the human world rather than pass on!

Your tags on that RWBY post fucking summarize all of my thoughts on RWBY Jesus Christ. I mean, I appreciate the show and the work that people put into it, but it's so flawed. It just drives me nuts when people blindly follow it because of its RT ties. I like RWBY but I will gladly point out what's wrong with it AND still find a way to like it. (Also, why the fuck are people bustin a nut for the figures, they're really ugly I think 🙈)
LMAO I’m glad someone else considers it more of a guilty pleasure show! it’s a fun show and I do love to learn more abt the RWBY world, but I just can’t find it in myself to get -super- invested in it b/c of those problems w/ plot, overused tropes, etc. like I honestly can’t even call it a ‘good’ show, all I can say w/ 100% truth is that it’s fun/entertaining. but is that entertainment from intense plotlines, gripping dialogue, or developed character arcs? not… rly..?… (in fact, I’ve cringed at character dialogue on a number of occasions lmao)
and it’s kinda sad b/c there ARE super interesting ideas there (the weapons, Grimm, and the like), but there are just so many other things that don’t have explanation (IE- faunus), or they don’t have any parameters (IE- semblance). and y’know these things COULD be forgivable in a different show w/ a better handle on plot development and all, but as it is they’re pretty distracting
even Grimm, an element of the world I find interesting, always seem so vague. it just feels like there’s a lost opportunity there for more interesting eldritch/psychological horror, or even ethical implications if Grimm do have some sort of sentience/awareness
I already slightly ranted abt how faunus are a boring excuse for a humanoid species, but I srsly just gotta get a lil’ more off my chest abt them b/c oh my god. it may be nit-picky of me to get into evolutionary feasibility here, but I’m a bio major w/ an interest in realistic creature design, so it’s kinda my thing. there are just no parameters for what nonhuman traits faunus have, they’ve got all KINDS of species and it’s just so frustrating b/c like? ram horns wouldn’t be useful on a human b/c the rest of our bodies aren’t built to handle skull/spine impact like ram bodies are? monkey tails (or paper-thin feather boas, in RWBY’s case) wouldn’t be useful b/c our spines/hips aren’t built to handle the force of hanging, nor are they structured to allow us easy crouching/climbing (our ancestors may have been arboreal, but we’re upright nowadays for a reason). why do ALL faunus have good night vision– not every animal is nocturnal and relies on good night vision. and, most importantly, what the FUCK is up with the ears? why are there two sets? are we expected to believe that there are two sets of ear canals, or are the nonhuman ears just for display? display for WHAT tho? nothing abt faunus makes sense if you think about the fact that nonhuman parts only work ON THE ANIMAL THEY EVOLVED FOR. I know the design team was prolly goin for the “cat girl trope” but with a twist, but the twist is even more convoluted than the original trope
and don’t even get me STARTED on how the “racial tension” was handled here. I’m not gonna get into the obvious parallels w/ human racism, b/c it’s not my place (tho I def think that angle could have been handled a lot better). let me just say as someone intensely interested in both animal rights and ethology, I don’t appreciate the whole, “we’re not animals!!” rhetoric. like…. we’re all animals… humans are animals… faunus are MULTIPLE animals… get tf over urselves and don’t put down other species just to build urselves up…
it’s also a big pet peeve of mine when magic/powers don’t have some sort of “quantifiable” explanation– some restrictions that let me know what the magic is, how it works, and what specific powers/properties are possible within those magical constraints. it’s part of the reason I’m usually not big on superhero stories b/c super powers could be literally anything without any restrictions (which is, ironically, pretty boring), and that’s what I get from RWBY’s semblance. I’m kinda behind on the show right now, so idk if this is delved into later on, but I super don’t get why Ruby’s time-freezing power is considered so novel when literally every other conceivable power also exists SOMEWHERE in the world. like, sure, it’s powerful, but I don’t see why it’s so ground-breaking, y’know?
AND ONE MORE THING I’d REALLY SUPER APPRECIATE more practical clothes for the gals. like I know some of the guys have some impractical outfit choices too, but it’s just so much more for the girls. like are girls even allowed to wear pants in that universe or what? and I guess I could complain abt the same-face/same-body character models (at least guys vs. girls), but I’m not familiar w/ animation restrictions here so I’ll just leave that alone. still real boring and mildly irritating to see tho, esp when I just want to see some diversity (and less cisgender-stereotype bodies, but that’s already too much to ask from most big-time shows, much less internet-based shows so I can’t rly expect much here… I just WANT it……..)
LMAO SORRY I RANTED I JUST NEEDED TO VENT A LIL’. I rly do love the show, it’s just… it could be SO MUCH MORE y’know?
as for the figures, yeahhhhh they’ve never seemed quite right to me. the poseable Ruby at least looks nice, but the static figures are uh… a little off…
